Australia is the largest producer 

of wool in the world, with millions 

of sheep shorn across the 

country every year! The woolliest 

blue-ribbon all-stars will compete 

for glory in the Livestock Pavilion 

culminating in the prestigious 

All Breeds Sheep Interbreed on 

Friday, September 27. 

The Texel sheep breed — known 

in Europe for their muscular 

build with short necks and pretty 

white faces — are the feature 

breed at this year’s Show. Head 

to the Livestock Pavilion to see 

them on the first two days of 

the Show, along with the “cutest 

sheep in the world” — the Valais 

Blacknose. This is the first 

time the Valais Blacknose will 

be exhibiting and competing 

for blue-ribbon glory at the 

Melbourne Royal Show.

Getting to the Show 

Remember, taking the train is the 

easiest and most cost-effective 

way to get to the Show. 

WHERE Melbourne Showgrounds, 

Epsom Rd, Ascot Vale 

WHEN Thursday, September 26- 


TRAIN Metro will have services 

running every 10 minutes in and 

out of the Showgrounds during 

morning peak times, with trains 

departing from Flinders Street, 

Southern Cross and North Melbourne 

stations. A train takes just 10 minutes 

from Southern Cross Station to 

Showgrounds Station, which is 

a short walk from the entrance. 

Service starts 9.25am. Last train to 

city departs Melbourne Showgrounds 

at 10.40pm. 

TRAM Route 57 from Stop 1 

Elizabeth St/Flinders St to Stop 32 

Sandown Rd/Epsom Rd. Extra trams 

run every day of the Show. Services 

start 6am Monday-Saturday, and 

7.36am on Sunday. 

BUS 404 and 472 services travel 

regularly to Melbourne Showgrounds 

precinct. 

CAR Parking is available at 

Flemington Racecourse for $30 a day. 

The Flemington Racecourse carpark 

is open from 8am-8pm daily. 

Accessible Parking: 46 accessible 

parking spaces are available via 

Melbourne Showgrounds Gate 7 on 

Leonards Crescent. These parks 

will be available for $30 per day. 

Pre-booking is not available.
