Snowden and there's no reason to
overlook her, especially if you're in the
market for a horse who should give you
a great run for your money, be at the
races soon then offer genuine residual
value after racing.
Peter Snowden has enjoyed success
with Zousain progeny with DRIFTING.
She collected a Stakes placing, then
backed it up with a Gr3 victory in the
ATC Magic Night Stakes and easily
accounted for a smart field on recently
when first-up in the Gr3 Quezette
Stakes.
BUY ANY SHARE IN ANY HORSE ON OR BEFORE 5TH OCT
AND RECEIVE A PUFFER JACKET OR VEST AND 5% DISCOUNT
She is from one of the best families on
Studbook. Her mother was a very
versatile Black Type performer who
won 4 times from 1200 to 2500m. Her
grand-dam, the Blue Hen mare
Professionelle, has produced 11
winners from 12 to race, adding so
much Black Type on the page. This is
genuine residual value, especially if
Peter can get our girl to perform at
CONNECTIONS CORNER...
The horses are our lifeblood and the Owners are our oxygen, so we thought it would
be a great idea to introduce to you some of the people who make BlueBlood’s the
success it has become to date. In this issue, we meet Jett Halls.
How long have you been an Owner with Blueblood Thoroughbreds (BBT)?
I have been an owner with BBT for almost 3 years.
What got you interested in racing and then ownership?
My father started to take me to the races when I was about 10 years of age. Since then I've fallen in
love with the sport and attend the races at Randwick/Rosehill every Saturday. I now have shares in
over 15 racehorses all over the country, spanning from Murwillumbah to Wangaratta, with my first slice
of ownership being with BBT in a horse named Torvi. Getting the constant updates from the trainer and
seeing vision of the horse in its different stages of life, starting from the breaking in process to its first
day at the training track is what really sparked my interest in horse ownership.
How many horses are you involved in currently with BBT?
I currently have two horses with BBT, these being Cheerful Legend and Torvi. Hopefully more to come!
What do u look for when you buy into a horse?
When buying a share in a racehorse I break it down into two categories: tried horses and yearlings.
When buying tried horses I think it is imperative to not only look at previous form and best ratings, but
to also take into account any potential upside. For example, Cheerful Legend was bought by BBT as a
4yo after a few below-par runs in Melbourne. However, he had some extremely good ratings in races in
town the year before, including a 4th in the Group 2 VRC Sires and a 5th in the Listed Gothic Stakes. I
often find that big trainers/owners sell their horses (typically geldings) relatively quickly after one or two
bad preparations, which can lead to good ownership opportunities for prospective buyers who plan to
race the horse in a new environment with a change of scenery.
For yearlings it's more of a guessing game, focused heavily on pedigree. For me personally, I like to
see a dam that is relatively young and has produced a notable amount of winners to runners,
particularly as 2yos. In terms of the sire, my current favourites going are Capitalist and Extreme Choice.
CONNECTIONS CORNER .

Which horses that you've owned with BBT have given you the biggest thrill?
It’s been a great ride with Cheerful Legend so far. He’s won a couple races in town at both Rosehill and Randwick
(on the kenso) and has been beaten a nose in two other Midways. He's a horse that more than pays for himself
and always gives 100% on race day. Hopefully he can be winning in the Midway next weekend at Rosehill.
Which race would you most love to win and why?
Although it's perhaps not the most common answer, for me it's got to be the Golden Slipper. I haven't had the
opportunity of racing many 2yos as of yet, but I love watching 2yo racing and seeing them progress from the
Breeders/Gimcrack to the better races in the autumn. The day itself is always a lot of fun, with Rosehill packed to
the brim with people from all over Australia to come and watch the famous race.
Who is your favourite Trainer?
This is a hard one. There's two that stand out at first thought. The first is Nathan Doyle, who I've had a few horses
with (including Cheerful Legend). He is a bit underrated in my opinion, and when he sends a horse to town you
know it's going well.
The second would be Michael Freedman who needs no introduction. I find that his strike rate is extremely good,
and he has trained a few of my better horses.
How would you celebrate a nice win by one of your horses?
Wins are few and far between sometimes, so it is imperative that we celebrate a win. Personally I enjoy heading
into the city after the races and going to a nice steak restaurant for dinner, before going to a few bars and
nightclubs.
Do you have a race day superstition?
Don't get me started. My biggest one would probably be that my girlfriend and I have to stand in the 1 metre by 1
metre metal drainage square near the owners area at Rosehill to watch our horses run. And yes, we do get
extremely weird looks from the people having lunch above us in the restaurant.
Are you a punter and if yes do you have a best win story and a hard luck story?
For sure. My best win story would probably be my win on Anamoe in the Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes. Although
he was about $2.2/1 that would have been by far the biggest WIN bet I have ever had, as I simply did not see him
getting beaten that day. Aside from that, I've won a few good paying quaddies where I had at least 50%.
My hard luck story, which I'll never forget, was choosing the first four in the 2020 Melbourne Cup for a healthy
collect but forgetting to press "confirm bet" on my sportsbet app.
What’s the funniest thing you have ever seen in racing?
I personally love when horses try to bite their opposition in the run. It's quite odd to watch, and rarely ever happens,
but when it does it gives me a laugh.
Who is your favourite Sire?
Capitalist and Extreme Choice
What is the best part about being an Owner with BBT?
It's hard to go past the constant updates from David and the team. He makes sure all owners are informed when
and where their horses are running, and what the plan is moving forward. This is often not very common within the
syndication industry and is something that I personally heavily appreciate.
