DRAG THE MUSICAL AT NEW WORLD STAGES
BY GETOUT MAGAZINE!
GINGER
MINJ
Drag Star Ginger Minj
headlines “Hokus
Pokus Live!” for two
shows at the Green
Room 42 in New York
for Halloween
Ginger Minj – the beloved drag star
from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season
7 and top 3 for “All Stars” Season
6 – is coming back to New York for a
Halloween treat! She’s bringing her
sisters Gidget Galore and Aria Hard
for “Hokus Pokus Live!,” celebrating
the beloved ‘90s movie. This all-live,
singing parody asks the question:
What would happen if the Sanderson
Sisters are brought back to life in
2024? Before the show comes to
midtown’s the Green Room 42 for
two shows on October 22 and 23,
Ginger answered some questions
just for Get Out…
INTERVIEW
YOU’RE COMING BACK
TO THE GREEN ROOM
42 WITH “HOKUS
POKUS” AS PART OF
THE NATIONAL TOUR.
HOW DID THE SHOW
COME TO BE?
Listen, I’ve been imagining
myself in that world since
1993! I was obsessed with
the movie growing up,
particularly these three
women, and it was a dream
come true getting to work
hand in hand with them on
the sequel. This particular
show came about when
Bette Midler came up to
me between takes on our
last day and said, “I like
the way you do me! Do
something with that. A
stage show or something.”
So we did!
WHAT CAN YOU TELL
US ABOUT YOUR
COLLABORATION WITH
GIDGET GALORE AND
ARIA HARD?
Aria is my drag daughter,
having been adopted into
the Minj family a few years
back when we worked
together on a Chicago
production of La Cage aux
Folles. She’s a fun, funny,
driven entertainer who can
sing, dance, act and be a
fool while still looking so
gorgeous. Gidget Galore
and I started drag together
in Orlando, and 22 years
later, we’re still best friends.
There’s something about
that deep shared history
that is really fun to see
as an audience member.
She also makes all of our
incredible costumes!
DO YOU HAVE ANY
SPECIAL MEMORIES
OF WORKING ON THE
MOVIE “HOCUS POCUS
2”?
Many, and they’re all crazy!
But my favorite would have
to be Kornbread and I
escaping our handlers and
exploring every inch of the
set. It was massive and
really put you “right there”
… then, towards the end
of our time there, we were
walking back towards the
set and a voice booms “1,
2, 3, GO!” and the witches
went flying right over
our heads. We just held
each other’s hands and
grinned like fools. It was
overwhelming.
WHAT IS SOMETHING
ABOUT THE
EXPERIENCE OF BEING
ON “RUPAUL’S DRAG
RACE” THAT MIGHT
SURPRISE YOUR FANS?
I don’t think the fans
are surprised by much
anymore.
Hahaha!
Having done
several
seasons
over the past
10 years,
the one
consistent
thing that
fans can’t
seem to
really figure
out is the way
time works
on the show.
It’s a vacuum where every
day feels like you’ve just
started and you’ve also
been there your entire life.
It’s like casinos in Vegas:
there are no clocks and the
sunlight is artificial!
YOU RECENTLY
RELEASED YOUR FIRST
BOOK, “SOUTHERN
FRIED SASS.” IS A
FOLLOW-UP ON THE
WAY?
Not any time soon. Writing
that book was the hardest
thing I’ve ever done. It was
two and a half years of
deep soul searching and
digging up my past, both
good and bad, to share
a side of myself with the
world that I hadn’t had the
chance to before. It was
traumatic, freeing, chaotic
and cathartic and has been
received so beautifully
by the fans. Like Winnie
Sanderson, I’ll hold on to
my book for a long time,
it’s really precious to me.
But she will remain an only
child for the foreseeable
future!

DRAG PERFORMER OF THE MONTH
COMA WHITE
NYC’s Halloween Queen
Best description of my drag:
Coma White is a voluptuous
video vixen and B-movie
bimbo. She is a heavy metal
chick who’s like the Tawny
Kitaen of drag because
she also likes to dance and
headbang half naked on the
hood of a car.
How many years I’ve been at
it: I’ve been doing drag for
eight years now.
Original hometown:
I’m from “Lawn
Guyland”--
Rockville Centre,
to be exact
Favorite number
to do: My
“Garbageman”
number is a real
crowd pleaser.
I eat shit out
of a garbage
can, and it’s
topped off by
having my
friend Stevie
puke in my
mouth.
Everyone
gags…
literally
A number I will
NEVER do: I’ll do anything for
a dollar. However, you most
likely will not find me doing
any Broadway numbers. I’m
not a musical theater girlie in
the slightest bit.
Favorite cosmetic product:
I’m not doing drag unless I
have my Laneige Lip Glowy
Balm on. My lips look so
glossy and pornographic.
Gotta have it
Reason I started drag: I love
being creative and drag
allows me to be the makeup
artist, the hairstylist, the
photographer, the editor, the
videographer, the stylist, I can
do it all.
Most important diva ever:
Madonna. She is the blueprint.
She’s done it all. She’s always
pushed the boundaries and is
constantly reinventing herself.
She’s done so much for the
community and It saddens
me to see how the gays have
turned their backs on her.
She’s often imitated, but never
duplicated. There will never be
another star like her.
A drag performer I admire:
Peaches Christ. She is what I
aspire to be like. She created
a career from her love of
cult horror films, which is
something I have begun to do
myself, so I’m following in her
footsteps in those regards.
The man of my dreams: Hairy
and has a beard
Drink of choice: I literally only
drink one thing and that’s a
margarita. I’m a creature of
habit, so I stick to what I know
and what I like.
Best thing about drag: Drag
has given me so many
amazing opportunities. I’ve
met and worked with so many
amazing people and have met
some of my closest friends
that I consider family through
drag.
So the best part of drag is not
only getting to create art, but
the people and connections I
have made because of it.
Worst thing about drag:
Everything starts to hurt after
a while; the shoes, the wig,
the corset…I often ask myself
why I do this, but I love it too
much to not.
Proudest drag moment I’ve
had: I’m thankful for every
opportunity that I’ve gotten.
That sounds like such a
pageant answer, but I truly
mean it. I’ve gotten to work
with so many amazing brands
and labels that I look up to,
but specifically working with
Troma was a proud moment
because I’ve been a fan of
theirs for so long. Another
moment I’m very proud of
was getting to not only do a
show with Kembra Pfahler, but
singing live with her.
Weirdest drag moment I’ve
had: Not so much weird, but
random. I did a show in a
barbershop in the early days
of my drag career. Nobody
was there, so it was just the
performers performing for
each other.
Best advice to a new queen:
Quit. Don’t do it. Hang up the
heels, diva.
Where to find me: Rockbar
lol. I practically live there. I
host Brain Damage Horror
Trivia there every month with
Justin Lockwood. I have a
show coming up with Kembra
Pfahler on October 29. I’ve
been hosting Halloween there
for the past three years. I’ve
also decided to compete
this year for the title of Miss
Rockbar. I’ve already done
everything a winner does
without winning, so let’s
crown it now.
(Bonus) Favorite Halloween
Candy: I have such a sweet
tooth, so I love it all. Give
me some peanut M&M’s, or a
Reese’s, a Twix, Snickers or
some sour candy like Sour
Patch Kids or those sour
straws. Deeee-lish!
(Bonus) Favorite horror
monster/killer: Frankenstein
is my favorite monster. I’ve
had a love for Frankenstein
since I was little. I’ve had the
same phone background for
years now and it’s a picture
of Frankenstein. I have a little
decapitated Frankenstein
head hanging from my
car rearview mirror. I have
multiple figures of him in my
room. He is the quintessential
monster to me.
MR. MAN’S MONSTER MASH
Halloween Costume Ideas Inspired
by Hollywood’s Hottest
Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s
time to start planning the sexiest skin-baring
costumes inspired by TV and film. Mr. Man has
put together a collection of sultry Halloween
ideas for those looking to turn heads and
embrace their inner celebrity this spooky season.
Here are some iconic looks from TV and film
where less is definitely more, with plenty of
inspiration from classic Halloween themes like
vampires, pirates and construction workers.
Let’s take a peek at how some of Hollywood’s
hottest male stars have made these costumes
unforgettable.
Vampire: Sam Reid in Interview with the Vampire
When you think Halloween, vampires are a nobrainer.
Sam Reid’s portrayal of Lestat in AMC’s
Interview with the Vampire brings a seductive twist
to this age-old costume idea. Based on Anne Rice’s
iconic gothic novel, the series dives into the steamy
and complex relationship between vampires Louis
and Lestat. In the debut episode, Reid’s intense
scene with co-star Jacob Anderson heats up with a passionate kiss that ends in a bloodsoaked
embrace. For this costume, think sleek black clothing, dramatic collars, pale makeup
and of course, just enough skin to channel the raw allure of a vampire who’s both irresistible
and dangerous.
Construction Worker: K.J. Apa in Riverdale
Few characters have made construction workers look
as sexy as K.J. Apa’s portrayal of Archie Andrews in the
CW’s hit show Riverdale. With his rugged looks, shirtless
scenes and penchant for carrying tools, Archie Andrews
has made the construction worker costume a smoldering
favorite. Apa’s grittier version of the iconic Archie comic
book character brings this classic costume idea to life
with a sexy twist. Grab a hard hat, a tool belt and some low-rise jeans, but leave the shirt behind
to channel the steamy construction worker energy from Riverdale. It’s a look that’s both casual
and unforgettable.
Pirate: Steve Howey in Shameless
Steve Howey’s portrayal of Kevin in Shameless not
only stole hearts but also made pirate costumes
sexy again. With his kinky yet lovable character,
Howey brought swagger to the pirate look in one
memorable costume scene. Pirates have long been
a Halloween staple, but with Howey’s irresistible
charm, the look takes on a whole new level of
sexiness. Think open, flowing shirts, leather accessories and a rugged attitude to sail through
the Halloween party as the studliest pirate in the room.
Cop: Lachlan Buchanan in Dynasty
For those who like authority figures, Australian actor
Lachlan Buchanan’s portrayal of a cop in the CW’s
reboot of Dynasty delivers some serious eye candy.
Buchanan, who plays a stripper in a memorable
scene where he dresses as a cop and works the pole,
has inspired a bold take on the classic police officer
costume. All you need is a police hat, a badge and
perhaps some handcuffs to make this iconic look sizzle. The more you strip down, the better!
Pilot: Glen Powell in Hit Man
Glen Powell has become a Hollywood heartthrob thanks
to his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You,
but it’s his role in Hit Man where he dons a pilot’s hat
that gives us a great Halloween costume idea. Whether
you’re channeling Powell’s tough-guy persona or adding
a playful twist, this is an easy yet sexy costume. A
pilot’s uniform—unbuttoned just right—along with the signature hat makes for a sleek and
commanding look that’s sure to soar above the competition at any Halloween party.
Firefighter: Jay Hayden and Boris Kodjoe in
Station 19
For those who dream of being rescued by a
firefighter, look no further than Jay Hayden and Boris
Kodjoe’s roles in Station 19. These two actors turned
up the heat on the ABC series, making firefighter
costumes a go-to for anyone with a fetish for firemen.
This look is all about showing off some muscle, so
grab those suspenders, a helmet and maybe even a hose (Use your imagination) to complete
this smoking hot costume. You’ll have everyone’s alarms going off in no time!
This Halloween, take a cue from your favorite TV and film stars, and remember—
sometimes the scariest thing you can wear is too much clothing! Opt for these skinbaring,
sultry costumes to make your mark this spooky season.
Haunted
Hollywood in NYC
This Halloween, New York City will host a spinechilling,
immersive experience like no other—Haunted
Hollywood. Produced by Voss Events, the mastermind
behind NYC’s beloved adult-themed Santa’s Secret,
this exclusive event invites guests to step into a world
where horror and seduction meet. Located in the
grand ballroom at Circo (1604 Broadway, between 48th
and 49th Streets), Haunted Hollywood promises an
unforgettable evening of thrills, theatrical spectacle and
tantalizing terror, all aimed at an adult audience.
Brandon Voss, creator of Haunted Hollywood, wanted
to create something unique for grownups who love
Halloween. “Most Halloween events in NYC are geared
towards kids and teens, but Halloween is a holiday
for adults too,” he says. The show aims to provide a
sophisticated and playful atmosphere, where adults
can immerse themselves in their favorite horror icons
without the presence of children.
What makes Haunted Hollywood truly stand out is
the way it reimagines legendary horror figures like
Beetlejuice, Carrie, Jason, Frankenstein, and even the
Phantom of the Opera. These characters are no longer
the traditional nightmarish figures we know, but have
been transformed into darkly seductive and alluring
versions of themselves. It’s a bold reinterpretation that
blurs the line between terror and temptation, giving
attendees an entirely new perspective on these classic
monsters.
The immersive aspect of the show allows guests to
become part of the action as they are drawn into an
eerie and sensual world. As the evening unfolds,
the ballroom fills with haunting harmonies, setting
the perfect tone for a variety of performances that
captivate and terrify. The show reaches its peak with the
highly anticipated “final girl” performance—a thrilling
showdown in which a lone heroine fights for survival
across six iconic horror films. This climactic moment
will leave audience members on the edge of their seats,
wondering whether she’ll overcome the evil forces
closing in or fall prey to them.
In addition to the haunting
performances, Haunted Hollywood
offers an indulgent culinary
experience. Halloween-themed
cocktails, crafted by expert
mixologists, will keep the spirits high
throughout the night. A full menu of
Latin-inspired cuisine adds a flavorful
twist to the experience, making it a
true feast for the senses. From eerie
entertainment to delectable dining,
the event is designed to be an allencompassing
celebration of horror
and delight.
With a runtime of two hours, Haunted
Hollywood promises to deliver
a captivating evening of thrills
and chills. But be warned—this
experience is for mature audiences
only. All attendees must be 18 or
older to enter, and those who wish to
indulge in the specialty cocktails will
need to provide valid ID for alcohol
service.
