Welcome<br />
The <strong>Wealden</strong> <strong>Times</strong> <strong>Midwinter</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> means<br />
different things to every one of us – customers,<br />
exhibitors, staff, and those of us who put together<br />
this wonderfully crazy three-day pop-up shopping<br />
event – and all of them are good. For most people the<br />
<strong>Midwinter</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> is the best place to find unique and<br />
thoughtful Christmas gifts. Others love it because it’s a<br />
great day out and a chance to spend quality time with<br />
loved ones.<br />
For those of us who curate this event, we love being<br />
at the heart of this country’s thriving independent<br />
retail scene, one that’s bursting with creative talent,<br />
beautifully designed products, and lovely people who<br />
put their heart and soul into their shops. These three<br />
days are the culmination of a year spent finding the<br />
very best and inviting them to the <strong>Fair</strong>.<br />
Regular visitors will know that our stewards –<br />
our “pinkies” – epitomise the love and care that we<br />
put into the show. You’ll find them cleaning tables,<br />
picking up litter, carrying shopping to cars. They are<br />
here to make your visit as enjoyable as possible, so<br />
please, ask them anything. Last year one of them even<br />
helped a visitor find a lost diamond earring in the<br />
depths of the car park!<br />
For our exhibitors – the designers, creators and<br />
makers who have spent weeks and months preparing<br />
to be here – the <strong>Midwinter</strong> <strong>Fair</strong> is their favourite<br />
shopping event. It’s just the right size, with the perfect<br />
mix of different products, and always so many happy<br />
customers.<br />

Each year we invite the very best local school<br />
choirs to sing Christmas carols and other<br />
festive songs in our Holly Café. This year we<br />
will be joined by Hazelwood School, Dulwich<br />
Cranbrook, Ashford School, The New Beacon<br />
