Race day success
The streets of Jozi were awash with a sea of peach as women from all
corners of the city and surrounding areas came together to celebrate
their strength, resilience and determination. The SPAR Women’s
Challenge Jozi delivered a sold-out event with 12 000 runners.
Glenrose Xaba took the top spot in the race, crossing the finish line
in a time of 32:48. Xaba’s victory also solidified her position as the
winner of the Grand Prix Series, making her the first South African
to claim this title since the inclusion of international athletes. Local
charities Headstart Kids, Smile Foundation and Reach for Recovery
each benefited from this event receiving a generous donation of R50
000. Keeping the crowd energised was MCs Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
and Arnold Geerdts as participants and supporters enjoyed a day of
empowerment and community.
