WELCOME.
Being the official charity of Bristol City Football Club, the Robins
Foundation utilises the power of sport and the strength incorporated
within the club’s brand to serve Bristol’s community.
One of our core aims is to engage and inspire young people by
raising and celebrating education achievement. The Foundation
recognises the positive role it can play within the community, so
in 2011 it created a unique sporting academic programme with the
aim of tackling the education inequality that exists within the city.
ALL OF THE EDUCATION COURSES
COMBINE ACADEMIC STUDIES
WITH PRACTICAL, SPORT-RELATED
EXPERIENCE. STUDENTS WILL HAVE
THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN WITH
BRISTOL CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
AND REPRESENT THE ROBINS
ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
The Foundation has the appropriate support structure which empowers
learners to develop essential life skills and expand career
opportunities. Through thoughtfully designed qualifications, guidance,
and activities, it helps individuals from all backgrounds to
reach their full potential. Such a structure sees the Foundation annually
attract and accept a diverse range of students onto its exciting
courses, ranging from post-16 to degree level.
It is always a pleasure to see young people go on to achieve their
dreams and we look forward to another exciting year.

Bristol City Robins Foundation
students will engage in the National
Citizen Service (NCS) as part of their
curriculum, offering an internationally
recognised qualification for students
aged 15-17, focusing on skill
development, team building and
community engagement.
TRIPS TO
PROFESSIONAL
CLUBS.
Each academic year, students
have the opportunity to visit other
professional clubs. The visits consist
of a competitive fixture against their
foundation counterparts and a behind
the scenes tour of the club’s stadium
and facilities.
INTERNATIONAL
TOURS.
Each year, the Foundation offers
post-16 students the opportunity
to participate in an international
football tour, competing against
overseas teams in countries such as
Holland, Croatia, Germany, Portugal,
and France. These trips not only
promote independence by allowing
students to explore local amenities
but also provide valuable insights
into different playing cultures and
learning environments, enriching
their studies upon returning to Bristol.
Typically costing between £600-
£800, the 2024 trip took students to
Lisbon, Portugal, where they attended
a Sporting Lisbon fixture, received
training from Benfica FC Academy
coaches, toured the Benfica Stadium,
played evening fixtures against local
teams, enjoyed beach volleyball
sessions and a visit to FOOTLAB, an
indoor sports analysis facility offering
unique technology to test individual
and team techniques and speed.

When I joined the Robins Foundation,
I didn’t know anyone which was
quite scary, but I leave having made
some of the best friendships I could
ask for! The course helped decide
what I want to do next and the staff
supported me through all elements,
pushing me to achieve my best.
Applying for this course should be
highly considered even if you don’t
live that close. For me personally, I
had to travel in from Weston Super
Mare. Transport links are great, & it
is easy to get the train or bus, taking
just 45 minutes – 1 hour. Attending
college in a different area has led
to new opportunities, friendships &
experiences that have helped shaped
my future.
Before joining the Robins Foundation,
I lacked confidence & wasn’t very
sociable. The environment created
at the Foundation & the volunteering
opportunities has changed me for
the better. I felt able to put myself
forward for every opportunity that
was presented which has resulted
in lifelong friendships, strong
relationships with staff from all
departments as well as becoming
a paid member of staff.
The Robins Foundation has been
a fantastic experience for me,
especially getting to know new
people and working as part of a
team, whether in the classroom
or on the pitch during training
and matches. A highlight for me
was the trip to Portugal, where
I not only got to experience
a new culture but also saw first
hand how they approach football.
I developed a passion for coaching
after volunteering in schools while at
the Foundation & realised coaching
was the path for me. I went on to
study Sports Performance at the
University of Bath before joining
Bristol Sport Foundation and now
own my own business, AB Sports
Coaching, specialising in Women
and Girls Football Development and
PE Provision across Bristol and the
South West.
