HELLO AND WELCOME BACK TO ASHTON GATE FOR A
TANTALISING MEETING WITH NEWCASTLE UNITED.
I’d like to start by extending a warm welcome Becky Langley,
her staff, players and of course the supporters who have all
made the long trip down from the North East.
We come into this one on the back of a defeat at Sunderland
last time out. It was a frantic affair, and we’ll be looking for a
reaction in front of our home crowd this weekend.
It was a very disappointing result for us, especially given the
manner of the defeat, but there are still positives we can take
from the performance and the three goals we scored.
We played some nice football for spells of the game, and it
was great to see both Ffion Morgan and Lexi Lloyd-Smith
continue their good run of form in front of goal, as well as
Mari Ward who scored a well-deserved first career goal.
Now, back in front of you City fans, we want to make a return
to winning ways and put in a performance to be proud of.
However, we also know that the Magpies will pose as tough
a test as any side in the division and come into this one full
of confidence after an impressive 2-0 victory over Leagueleaders
Birmingham City.
We’re hoping for a good crowd for this one and we’ll need to
hear you as loud as you’ve been all season.
We’ve picked up some good results at home already and
you’ve all played a part in that so far.
So, once again, we ask of you to be in full voice, roar the team
forward and help us try to get some more points in the bag.
