Vicar of the Anglican Church in St Barth and lovers of 

the island for more than 30 years, Charles Vere Nicoll and his wife 

Mandie have been professionally established in St Barth, 

thanks to their purchase and development of the Hotel Saint Barth 

Isle de France... which they have just sold to LVMH.

How did you come to be in St Barth? 

CHARLES AND MANDIE VERE NICOLL « In a funny way! It was during our 

honeymoon, 30 years ago, that my wife and I discovered St Barth. We stayed in 

a delightful hotel. We came back regularly to St Barth for our holidays, until one 

day in 1999, the owner, knowing that I worked in the hotel business in England, 

offered to sell me his establishment! It seemed like complete madness but yet it 

turned out to be one of the best opportunities of my career! As our children are 

grown up, Mandie and I have been able to spend almost 9 months a year on the 

island, creating a « real family » with the 130 employees of the hotel. At the same 

time, the Bishop of the Caribbean asked me to become the Vicar of the Anglican 

Church here in St Barth. » 

After all these years you have decided to part ways with the Hotel Saint Barth 

Isle de France…How did this sale come to take place? 

C. & M. V.N.- « The team at Sibarth Real Estate, who introduced us to LVMH, has 

been involved in this transaction way beyond what one would expect of a conventional 

estate agency. In fact they have done a great job, both in communication 

and sending of information…All this was done quickly and in a highly professional 

manner, which simplified the sale process considerably. » 

And why LVMH? 

C. & M. V.N.- « I am very happy to have sold the hotel to LVMH, mainly because 

they have the same ethic as we have… the hotel will continue to be a family business 

offering a very personalized service. » 

How did you meet Christian Wattiau? 

C. & M. V.N.- « Oh it is a friendship that goes way back! I first met him as a “tourist” 

and became interested in real estate on the island, then from 2000, he took care 

of each transaction that I made to expand the hotel. In fact we bought land which 

allowed us to add rooms to the hotel. His being established here a long time, his 

expertise, his knowledge of the real estate market and the specific laws of the island 

have been absolutely irreplaceable for us. » 

Comment êtes vous arrivés à St Barth ? 

CHARLES & MANDIE VERE NICOLL « De manière amusante ! C’est au cours de 

notre voyage de noce, il y a 30 ans, que nous avons découvert St Barth, mon épouse et moi. 

Nous séjournions alors dans un hôtel ravissant. Nous sommes revenus régulièrement à St 

Barth pour les vacances jusqu’au jour où le propriétaire, en 1999, connaissant mon activité 

hôtelière en Angleterre, a proposé de me vendre son établissement ! Cela semblait être une pure 

folie, mais cela s’est révélé une des plus belles opportunités de ma carrière ! Nos enfants étant 

adultes, nous avons pu, Mandie et moi, passer près de 9 mois par an sur l’île et créer une 

« vraie famille » avec les 130 employés de l’hôtel. Au même moment, l’Evêque des Caraïbes 

m’a demandé d’être le prêtre en charge de l’Eglise Anglicane de St Barth. » 

Après toutes ces années, vous avez décidé de vous séparer de l’Hôtel Saint Barth Isle 

de France…Comment s’est déroulée cette vente ? 

C. & M. V. N.- « L’équipe de Sibarth Real Estate, qui nous a introduits auprès de LVMH, 

s’est impliquée dans cette transaction bien au-delà de ce que l’on peut attendre d’une agence 

immobilière conventionnelle. En effet, ils ont réalisé un super travail tant dans la communication 

que dans l’envoi des informations… Tout cela a été rapide, hautement professionnel et a 

considérablement simplifié la vente. » 

Et pourquoi LVMH ? 

C. & M. V. N.- « Je suis très content d’avoir vendu l’hôtel à LVMH d’abord parce qu’ils 

ont la même éthique que nous… L’hôtel va continuer à être une entreprise familiale, avec un 

service très personnalisé. » 

Comment avez-vous rencontré Christian Wattiau ? 

C. & M. V. N.- « Oh mais c’est une très ancienne amitié ! Je l’ai rencontré d’abord en tant 

que « touriste » lorsque j’ai commencé à m’intéresser à l’immobilier sur l’île, puis à partir 

de 2000, il s’est occupé de chacune des transactions que j’ai faites pour agrandir l’hôtel. En 

effet, nous avons acheté des terrains qui nous ont permis d’ajouter des chambres à l’hôtel. Son 

implantation de longue date ici, son expertise, sa connaissance du marché de l’immobilier, des 

lois spécifiques de l’île ont été, pour nous, absolument irremplaçables. »

« Being in this business does not mean 

that we are not concerned about sustainable development 

on the island. » 

You have been living on the island for more than 30 years… 

How did you come to be here? 

CHRISTIAN WATTIAU « I am a fan of sailing. After studying in Brussels, I started 

delivering sailboats for a charter company which wanted to open a base of operation 

in the West Indies. I sailed into St Barth, a sort of paradise on earth, with its safe 

anchorages, beautiful beaches and a very diverse nature due to the physical and geographical 

features of the island. Then I discovered the land, with its extraordinary 

mix of French, Americans, Europeans, South Americans and of course, the island 

native people. A real quality of life! » 

You speak of the quality of life? 

C. W.- « Yes, it is quite surprising, given the social differences that are found on the 

island but it is a reality. For those who wish, meetings and relationships between 

people are simple and casual, both amongst the cosmopolitan visitors and also 

with locals. Also, this is a small community where everyone knows pretty much 

everyone, which contributes to a level of security that is rarely found these days. » 

What drives you to market a property, or not? 

C. W.- « The agency has been established on the island for a long time, with a cohesive 

and complementary full time team of 8, which has developed an unparalleled 

global network of professional partners in the luxury property business. Our sales 

volume allows us to be selective, if needed, but we are happy to deal with the widest 

range of properties, from a small plot of land to a 5 star hotel. However, in the case 

of a project, which looks too ambitious or which would go against the sustainable 

development that we campaign for on the island, its culture and its environment, 

we may choose not to get involved. Our view is the same in the case of properties 

that would present any risky issues for buyers. » 

Would you have a piece of advice for future buyers? 

C. W.- « I would offer them two! Take their time and choose their agent wisely! 

When potential clients walk through our door, we take the time to show them the 

island if they are unfamiliar with it, we talk about their wishes and requirements. 

Sometimes they immediately fall in love with a property. In other cases, we only 

find the villa of their dreams after several years. We offer a bespoke service and we 

never hesitate to invest ourselves in the long term with our clients. 

Our longstanding property operation on St Barth means that we know most of the 

villas and, very often, today’s sellers are yesterday’s buyers. Proof that our skills 

remain appreciated! » 

Vous êtes implanté dans l’île depuis plus de 30 ans… Comment êtes-vous arrivé ici ? 

CHRISTIAN WATTIAU « Je suis un passionné de voile. Après mes études à Bruxelles, j’ai 

commencé à faire du convoyage de voiliers pour une société de location qui souhaitait s’implanter 

aux Antilles. Je suis arrivé à St Barth, sorte de Paradis terrestre avec des mouillages 

sûrs, des plages superbes, une nature très diversifiée en raison des caractéristiques physiques 

et géographiques de l’île. Et puis j’ai découvert à terre une mixité assez extraordinaire entre 

français, américains, européens, sud-américains, et bien entendu les gens de l’île. Une vraie 

qualité de vie. » 

Vous parlez de qualité de vie ? 

C. W.- « Oui, c’est assez étonnant compte tenu des différences sociales que l’on rencontre sur 

l’île, mais c’est une réalité. Pour celui qui le souhaite, les rencontres, les rapports entre les gens 

sont simples, décontractés, tant entre les visiteurs, très cosmopolites, qu’avec les résidents. En 

prime, c’est une petite communauté où tout le monde se connaît, ou presque, ce qui génère une 

sécurité assez inhabituelle à notre époque. » 

Qu’est ce qui vous pousse à vous occuper, ou non, de la vente d’une propriété ? 

C. W.- « Nous sommes une agence implantée de longue date, avec une équipe soudée et complémentaire 

de 8 personnes à plein temps, qui a développé à travers le monde un réseau inégalé de 

partenaires professionnels. Notre volume d’affaires nous permet donc d’être sélectifs, si besoin 

est, mais nous sommes heureux de traiter une gamme très large de produits, du petit terrain 

au produit hôtelier. Simplement, dans le cas d’un projet qui serait trop ambitieux, qui irait à 

l’encontre du développement durable que nous prônons pour l’île, de sa culture et de son environnement, 

nous pouvons décider de ne pas nous y impliquer. Il en est de même pour les biens 

présentant des risques pour les acquéreurs.» 

Si vous aviez un conseil à donner à de futurs acheteurs ? 

C. W.- « J’en donnerais 2 ! Prendre son temps et bien choisir son intermédiaire ! Lorsqu’un 

client potentiel franchit notre porte, nous prenons le temps de lui faire visiter l’île s’il ne la 

connaît pas, nous parlons de ses envies, de ses impératifs. Parfois, le coup de cœur est immédiat. 

Dans d’autres cas, nous ne dénichons la villa de leurs rêves que plusieurs années après les 

premières visites. Nous faisons du « sur mesure », et n’hésitons jamais à nous investir dans le 

long terme avec nos clients. 

Notre implantation de longue date nous permet de bien connaître pratiquement toutes les 

maisons et, très souvent, les vendeurs d’aujourd’hui sont les acheteurs d’hier. Preuve que nos 

compétences sont appréciées ! »

The creation of this home is almost a story in itself. In fact, even though the 

house was built in the 80’s, this building has a longer history. It is from the 

salvaged wood of the demolition of a 17th century Normandy manor, brought by 

boat to St Barths, that the manor was created… then brought back to life in 2006 

with the intervention of Cristina Rodriguez, who gave it a resolutely contemporary 

feel, whilst still respecting the materials. Polished concrete, grey woods and metals 

with natural tones combined with the old wood create a relaxing, ultra comfortable 

atmosphere. The choice of materials gives a certain « loft style » essence. 

As you enter the manor, the luxurious greenery is the first thing that strikes you. 

Palm trees, mango trees, birds rustling the leaves of the fig trees… surrounded by 

a beautiful ipé wooden deck - a wood that has the characteristic of turning pretty 

shades of grey with the effects of the sun, wind and rain, you will find a large swimming 

pool that seems to mirror the sun. 

As the laid back tortoises wander around the garden looking for fruit and grass, the 

birds begin their chorus. The outside is truly enchanting! 

For privacy, the 7 large bedrooms are scattered on either side of the concrete or 

wooden paths. Each bedroom has its own ensuite and private terrace which centre 

around the living areas where family life carries on in full swing. 

Some share a Jacuzzi or have terraces overlooking a pretty pond. In the main house, 

the large kitchen, equipped for a Michelin starred chef, lets you prepare meals whilst 

being able to chat to your friends in the living room.

’est à partir d’un authentique manoir normand du 17eme siècle qu’a été conçu cette extraordinaire 

maison. Abolissant la frontière entre jardin et habitation, l’architecte et décoratrice 

Cristina Rodrigez y a créé une sorte de Paradis terrestre! 

La genèse même de cette construction ressemble à un conte. En effet, même si elle fut assemblée 

ici dans les années 80, cette bâtisse avait une longue histoire derrière elle! C’est à partir de bois 

récupérés lors de la démolition d’un manoir normand du 17eme et expédiés par bateau à St 

Barth que «le Manoir» fut imaginé… Cure de jouvence dans les années 2006 avec l’intervention 

de Cristina Rodrigez qui lui apporta une touche résolument contemporaine mais toujours 

dans le respect des matériaux. Ainsi, béton ciré, bois grisés, métal aux belles nuances brutes voisinent 

avec les bois anciens pour créer une ambiance décontractée tout en étant ultra confortable, 

un esprit loft dû au choix des matériaux. 

Lorsque l’on entre au Manoir, c’est d’abord la luxuriance de la végétation qui interpelle le visiteur. 

Palmiers, manguiers, ficus bruissent d’oiseaux… Entourée d’une belle plage en ipé, un bois 

qui a la particularité de prendre de jolies teintes grisées sous l’effet conjugué du soleil, du vent et 

de la pluie, une grande piscine semble se mirer au soleil. Des tortues nonchalantes se promènent 

dans le jardin à la recherche de fruits et d’herbe, tandis que des oiseaux entament un concert. 

L’extérieur est un véritable enchantement. 

Pour que chacun puisse s’isoler, disséminées de part et d’autre de cheminements en béton brut ou 

en bois, 7 grandes chambres possédant toutes leur salle de bains et une terrasse privative, s’articulent 

autour des parties communes où la vie familiale bat son plein. Certaines sont équipées 

d’un Jacuzzi, d’une terrasse donnant sur un joli bassin planté. 



The architect knew how to superbly blend raw materials, such 

as polished concrete with the clean, geometric lines of the 

white concrete staircase... 

Here, nothing is ostentatious - high quality design with a warm 

and homely ambiance... The ultimate in simplicity yet luxury - 

which could be the motto of this house! 

Harmony 

& Beauty 

This huge room astounds you with its sheer size and beautiful beams. « I wanted to 

give height to the living room, which was a bit cramped by the ceiling. So, I took 

out a part of that floor to make a mezzanine and to enhance the vertical height of 

the room and its framework » explains Cristina. 

« I also worked a lot on the colors. I didn’t want colors that were too bright and 

which would detract from the magnificent old wood… So, for the living areas I kept 

with soft tones of grey and putty » she continues. 

This is an exceptional environment, where each and every detail surprises us with 

its harmony and beauty. 

Dans la maison principale, la grande cuisine, équipée comme pour un chef étoilé, offre la 

possibilité de préparer les repas tout en papotant avec les amis, confortablement installés au 

salon. Cette immense pièce étonne par son volume et sa magnifique poutraison. «Je voulais 

redonner de la hauteur au salon qui était un peu écrasé par le plafond. J’ai donc supprimé une 

partie de l’étage pour ne conserver qu’une mezzanine et mettre ainsi en valeur la verticalité de 

la pièce et sa charpente» explique Cristina. « J’ai aussi beaucoup travaillé sur les couleurs. Je 

ne voulais pas de teintes trop vives qui auraient pu dénaturer les magnifiques bois anciens… 

Pour les pièces à vivre, je suis donc restée dans une gamme très douce, de gris et de mastic » 

poursuit encore la jeune femme. 

Dans cet environnement d’exception chaque détail nous surprend par son harmonie et 

sa beauté.

« What I like best is after sunset, when night falls and all the lights of the houses 

below and those of Saint Martin and Anguilla illuminate… In those few moments, 

this 180° view over the sea and nature, radically transforms… It resembles a huge 

bright puzzle! » 

With its open layout, the villa has been designed in a resolutely contemporary style. 

« I love modern architecture for its geometric lines and spaces ». The Cabinet of 

Architects of Olivier Dain, which has been established on the island for many years, 

was able to play with the open viewpoints to the maximum, without compromising 

the privacy and independence of the guest rooms. 

In fact, two bedrooms are accessible from the nearby main entrance, without having 

to go through the living area… A nice touch when there are lots of guests! 

For the décor, the beauty of the materials highlights the lines and the connection 

between the interior and exterior. On the floor, large, light beige stone slabs create 

an interesting visual link between the living area and the terrace. 

Parts of the terrace are built in teak, which darkens under the effects of the sun and 

rain, bringing softness to the overall ambience of the house. 

Située face à la mer, près de Flamands, une des plus grandes plages de l’île avec son sable fin 

et ses eaux paradisiaques, cette grande villa, construite très récemment, étonne par son aspect 

ultra contemporain, ses immenses ouvertures et son aménagement très déco! Profiter au maximum 

de cette extraordinaire perspective sur l’océan… Tel a été le fil conducteur qui a présidé 

à la conception de cette villa. En effet, originaire de Saint Barth, la propriétaire a eu à cœur 

de construire une maison en osmose avec la nature environnante, une sorte de belvédère sur les 

hauteurs de Flamands, dominant les îles de Bonhomme et de St Martin. « Ce que je préfère, 

après le coucher de soleil, c’est lorsque la nuit tombe et que toutes les lumières des maisons en 

contrebas et celles des îles de St Martin et Anguilla s’allument… En quelques minutes, cette vue 

à 180° sur la mer et la nature, se transforme radicalement… Et ressemble à un monumental 

puzzle lumineux ! » 

Largement ouverte sur l’extérieur, la villa a été conçue dans un style résolument contemporain. 

« J’aime l’architecture moderne pour ses lignes géométriques et ses ouvertures ». Le cabinet 

d’architecture d’Olivier Dain, implanté de longue date sur l’île, a su jouer sur des perspectives 

ouvertes au maximum, sans pour autant nuire à l’intimité et à l’autonomie des chambres 

d’amis. En effet, deux chambres restent accessibles de l’entrée toute proche, sans avoir à passer 

par le salon… Un plus bien agréable lorsque les hôtes sont nombreux! 

Côté déco, place à la beauté des matériaux qui mettent en valeur les lignes et la relation entre 

intérieur et extérieur. Au sol, de grandes dalles en grès cérame beige clair créent une liaison

« I did not want the décor too overloaded with bulky furniture » continues the 

owner. And so, the furniture is simple and minimal and the decoration is extremely 

refined. In the living area, the large, deep sofas (Flexform) make you want to curl 

up with a good book (coffee table designed by Shiro Karumata). The immaculate 

white quartz kitchen (Acheo design) is similar to the dining table made from stained 

white ash wood (Cassina), together with its white leather chairs (Molteni). The 

same simple and elegant atmosphere is found in the bathrooms, with the furniture 

and accessories by Antonio Lupi. 

Outside, besides the magnificent garden created by American landscapist Nick 

D’Asciano, a large infinity lap pool does not obscure the horizon but embraces 

both the sky and the sea whilst you are swimming… 

« Je ne voulais pas une décoration trop chargée, avec un mobilier encombrant » poursuit encore 

la propriétaire. Du coup, les meubles sont sobres et peu nombreux et la décoration épurée à 

l’extrême. Dans le salon, de larges et profonds canapés (Flexform) donnent envie de paresser 

avec un bon livre (table basse Glass design Shiro Kuramata). La cuisine (Acheo) en silestone 

blanc immaculé, est vraiment design comme cette table de salle à manger en bois de frêne teinté 

blanc (Cassina) associée à des chaises en cuir blanc (Molteni). Même ambiance simple et 

élégante dans la salle de bain avec les meubles et accessoires d’Antonio Lupi. 

A l’extérieur, outre le magnifique jardin, créé par le paysagiste américain Nick D’Asciano, un 

large couloir de nage à débordement permet de ne pas occulter la ligne d’horizon et d’embrasser 

tout en nageant, le ciel et la mer…

Loving Saint Barths and having spent a lot of time there over a number of years, 

we had been renting this villa for several seasons in a row » explain Dominique 

and Daniel. « Since our first stay here, we really wanted to buy the house… That became 

possible in 2000. Since then we have completely updated the house, redoing 

the floors and roofs, rethinking the pool and the garden… in fact we have kept all 

the positive aspects and have made it even more comfortable. » 

Originally built by the islanders, villa ZEN offers one of the most beautiful views 

on the island. Sitting on one of the crests that overlooks Pointe Milou, yet completely 

protected from the strong winds, the house is especially characterized by its 

panoramic view… 

When you enter the house, its location brings together the sea and the surrounding 

hills, the sky and the rocks to the left and right, for a sublime and XXL panorama! 

Even from the road, this house, surrounded by a white wall and a high eucalyptus 

hedge, seems discreet, simple and pure… The shock once you cross the threshold 

is something else! « Even after all these years, each time we stay, we are enthused by 

the contrast. As soon as you enter, your eyes discover the view of the sea and you 

are amazed » continues Dominique. 

For the renovation works, the owners relied on the environment. « In this part of 

the island, it is very civilized, very polished… but we had the opportunity to have 

an impressive rock in the garden, like a piece of a mountain that had ended up 

there… So, we have used it as a sort of pillar in the recreation of the surrounding 

gardens and the pool » says Daniel. 

Située sur la crête qui embrasse de tous côtés la vue magnifique de la Pointe Milou, cette villa, 

construite en 1988 et totalement rénovée dans les années 2000, nous charme par ses vastes 

proportions et ses finitions ultra soignées. « Adorant St Barth et y passant beaucoup de temps 

depuis de nombreuses années, nous avions loué plusieurs saisons de suite cette villa», nous 

expliquent Dominique et Daniel, « Dès notre premier séjour ici, nous avons eu envie d’acquérir 

la maison… Cela a été possible en 2000. A partir de là, nous avons totalement revu la maison, 

refaisant sols et toitures, repensant la piscine et le jardin… En fait nous avons gardé les aspects 

positifs et l’avons rendue encore plus confortable. » 

Construite à l’origine par des natifs de l’île, la villa Zen bénéficie d’une des plus belles vues 

de l’île. Située sur une des crêtes qui domine la Pointe Milou, mais parfaitement protégée des 

grands vents, la maison se distingue surtout par son côté belvédère… Lorsque l’on pénètre dans 

la bâtisse, sa situation permet de réunir la mer et les collines alentour, le ciel et les rochers de 

droite et de gauche, pour un panoramique XXL et sublime! 

Et pourtant de la rue, entourée d’un mur blanc et d’une haute haie d’eucalyptus, cette maison 

semble discrète, simple et épurée… Le choc n’en n’est que plus important, une fois le seuil 

franchi! « Même après des années, à chacun de nos séjours ici, nous sommes enthousiasmés 

par ce contraste. Dès l’entrée, le regard découvre, ébahi, la vue sur la mer » poursuit encore 

Dominique. 

Pour les travaux de rénovation, les propriétaires se sont appuyés sur la nature environnante. 

« Dans cette partie de l’île, nous sommes dans une nature très policée, très civilisée… mais nous 

avions la chance, dans le jardin, d’avoir un impressionnant rocher, sorte de fragment de montagne 

échoué là… Du coup, nous l’avons utilisé comme une sorte de pilier dans la recréation du 

jardin environnant et de la piscine » confie Daniel.

been built as small independent bungalows, with large 

bathrooms and private terraces… But to keep the spirit of the 

holidays, they have been linked to the main house by corridors 

opening onto the sea.

And it is true, that this natural element brings a certain wild dimension to the 

garden, which, planted in the 2000’s, has matured beautifully with palm trees and 

luxurious plants. As for the pool and the Jacuzzi, they seem to surround the rock 

like a blue frame. Inside, the owners have chosen simple, good quality materials. 

The floor, tiled inside and out with large limestone slabs with beautiful yellow hues, 

allow you to appreciate the house as a whole, without breaking the visual of the 

white walls and the light grey beams, bringing light and elegance. The furnishings, 

which blend various pieces of furniture, a huge Indonesian teak dining table, sofas 

and contemporary lighting, are all custom made. A library and paintings complete 

the fine décor. This is a house that gives you a good feeling within the first few 

seconds and which lets you live comfortably and cozily both inside and outside. 

Et c’est vrai que cet élément naturel apporte une dimension sauvage au jardin qui, planté dès 

les années 2000 a pris une belle ampleur avec des palmiers et une végétation luxuriante. Quant 

à la piscine et au jacuzzi, ils semblent entourer la roche dans une sorte d’écrin bleu. 

A l’intérieur, les propriétaires ont choisi des matériaux simples et de bonne qualité. Un sol 

habillé, tant à l’intérieur qu’à l’extérieur, de grandes dalles en calcaire aux belles nuances 

jaunes, permet d’appréhender l’ensemble de la maison sans rupture visuelle, des murs blancs 

et des entre poutres, peints d’un gris léger apportent lumière et raffinement. Le mobilier, combinant 

des meubles d’appoints, une vaste table de salle à manger en teck d’Indonésie, des sofas 

et des éclairages contemporains a été fabriqué sur mesure. Bibliothèque et tableaux, complètent 

un décor tout en finesse. C’est une maison où l’on se sent bien, dès les premières secondes, et qui 

nous fait vivre entre intérieur et extérieur de manière cosy et confortable.

With its sloping roof that extends out over the terrace to protect the house from the 

tropical rains and its large covered gallery, which separates the living areas and filters 

the outside heat, this house is remarkably adapted to the tropical climate. 

But the most spectacular aspect of this house is the imposing pergola which stretches 

across the whole front of the house and overlooks the sea. Painted in a pretty lavender 

color, this overhang almost merges with the color of the sky and together with 

the teak floor, forms a lovely, wide and spacious terrace, with areas for lounging, 

eating or simply relaxing in. Here you can gaze out over the sea, eat breakfast, laze

For the decoration, the owners have played on inspiration from « Cap Ferret »:

is the kitchen - thoughtfully planned out, so that you can prepare meals and yet 

still interact with your friends. Opened onto the outside, it is equipped like a « real 

chef’s kitchen » and leads directly onto a terrace, where you will find one of the 

dining tables.

For the bedrooms, the gallery on the lower floor houses four of the six spacious 

and quiet bedrooms, each with their own private terrace and extra large ensuite 

bathroom… three of them also have a gorgeous outdoor shower - perfect for 

showering in the sun in complete privacy! The contemporary architecture is often 

synonymous with areas that can be a little impersonal and cold… thanks to the 

choice of materials, that cannot be said for here. Teak is used for all the outside 

terraces and the bedroom floors and travertine for the rest of the house. 

This limestone rock, highly regarded for its strength, was extensively used in major 

constructions, such as the Colosseum in Rome and the Basilica of Sacré Coeur in 

Paris. It is a magnificent honey toned stone, which when used with wood, as it is 

here, brings a lot of warmth to the décor of the house. 

Quant à la cuisine, elle a été pensée pour admirer la vue en préparant les repas, mais aussi profiter 

des amis… largement ouverte elle aussi, elle est équipée comme une vraie « cuisine de chef »

boards set between the white wooden beams, which show off the beauty of the 

British Columbian oak, the floor of the house is laid with rose colored oak and 

Capri stone… a great choice that gives warmth and charm to the décor. 

For the furniture, the owners have highlighted this tropical inspired ambiance 

with attractive teak furniture, shelves and cupboards with doors in South 

American cedar…
