IN BETWEEN, LOCAL DRAG
SHOWS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
New App Created by Julius Williams and Partner Daniel
Hargitay Connects Fans to Drag Shows, Brunches, and
Events Nationwide
New York, NY (October 28, 2024) – Werk!, a
new mobile app aiming to revolutionize access
to drag performances, has officially launched
in 14 major U.S. cities. Created by Broadway
performer Julius Williams and his partner Daniel
Hargitay, Werk! serves as a bridge between
fans and the vibrant drag scene, connecting
users to local shows, brunches, and special
events. For performers, it offers a powerful
platform to showcase their talent, attract new
audiences, and build financial independence.
Designed to make
discovering drag shows
simple, Werk! uses a
GPS-based map to
display nearby events
in real-time. Users can
search for shows by
location or keyword,
such as “brunch,”
allowing drag fans to
find a performance that
matches their interests
with just a few taps.
For many, the app fills
a crucial gap: “While
traveling, my partner
and I struggled to find local drag shows,” said
Williams. “We created Werk! to make it easy for
fans to discover and support drag, no matter
where they are.”
Werk! offers unique features that benefit both
audiences and performers alike. In addition to
finding shows, fans can tip performers directly
through the app, supporting their favorite artists
financially. This feature provides a new revenue
stream for drag performers, whose incomes
often depend on tips collected during shows.
The app’s interface also allows performers and
venues to update event listings, giving them
more control over their outreach and allowing
users to see the latest show information.
The app’s reach extends across 14 cities,
including New York City, Fire Island, Jersey
City, Washington, D.C., Orlando, and Palm
Springs, with further expansion planned for
2025. By spotlighting both high-profile events
like RuPaul’s Drag Race Live in Las Vegas
and local performances in neighborhood
bars, Werk! celebrates the full spectrum of
drag, aiming to make the art form accessible
to fans everywhere. “We want to create
safe, accessible spaces for performers and
audiences alike,” explained Hargitay.
audiences.
Since its soft launch in June,
Werk! has already received
enthusiastic responses from
users and endorsements from
well-known drag personalities,
including RuPaul’s Drag Race
alums Brita and Phoenix
and stars such as Jaida
Essence Hall and Angeria
Paris VanMichaels. The
app has quickly become
a key resource within the
drag community, helping
performers promote their
work and attract wider
Williams and Hargitay, each with deep ties
to the entertainment industry, bring passion
and commitment to their mission. Williams,
a Broadway veteran, sees Werk! as a way to
share the joy and artistry of drag with a broader
audience. Hargitay, with over a decade in
hospitality and entertainment, was inspired to
build a platform that empowers performers and
makes drag accessible.
Available on iOS and Android, Werk! is on
track to become a go-to platform for drag fans
and artists alike, connecting communities
and supporting the growing world of drag
performances.

INTERVIEW
Hi, ladies. Thanks for
finding time to chat with us
today! OMG, Canada’s Drag
Race’s fifth season, which
you’re the host of, will be
premiering Nov 22--the same
week as your New York
Christmas show! What are
your general thoughts on
the cast this season?
Brooke Lynn Hytes: It’s such
an amazing and diverse cast. I
can’t say much, but you are in
for a WILD ride. Lots of drama,
mama!
Q: Do you feel that Canadian
drag has really elevated
since the show premiered
or has it always been this
great and it’s just getting the
platform it deserves now?
BLH: Both! I feel it’s always
been great, but I’ve def
seen a push since the show
premiered.
IG: @NINAWEST
Nina
West
Q: Nina, was it exciting to
watch your Drag Race All-
Stars season a few months
ago? Was everything
depicted more or less
how you remembered it or
were there some editing
curveballs that surprised
you?
Nina West: It was so much fun
to go back and do All Stars 9!
I had such a great time being
in the workroom with so many
friends, all playing for charity.
And yes, it all played out on TV
pretty much how I remember
it–I won eight stars, right? And
was Top two?

Q: Sounds about right!
I also wanted to ask
about your recent
shows at 54 Below
in NYC: Nina West is
the Very Queen! How
did you enjoy that
experience?
PHOTOCREDIT ALEKS ANTONIVIĆ
NW: 54 Below is one of the most iconic performance spaces in the city. It’s Broadway’s
living room!! And I cannot believe I had the opportunity to make my solo New York City
cabaret debut there. The team there is second to none, and they just make it such a
special night out. AND Patti LuPone gives the curtain speech! I mean, it is a video, but it
is QUEEN PATTI!
Q: Brooke, do you have a favorite NYC
queen?
BLH: Shequida!
Q: What’s been your favorite thing
about Drag Race stardom so far?
BLH: Being able to make a decent living
doing what I love.
NW: I think my favorite thing about having
this Drag Race platform is that it has
opened me up to so many opportunities.
I have toured the world because of the
show. I have met some of my heroes
and creative inspirations because of Ru
and the fam at World of Wonder. It has
changed my life in ways I can’t even put to
words and I am very grateful.
Q: Besides being a fabulous queen,
Nina, you are also an incredible LGBTQ
activist. Does that sort of thing become
more challenging and scary in these
uncertain times we find ourselves in?
NW: I think that these are really trying
times and yes, it is scary. But we can’t
stop. We have to keep showing up for
ourselves and one another.
Q: As we are approaching the holiday
season: what’s your ideal Christmas
situation look like?
NW: When I am not on the road with
Murray and Peter, I love to spend my time
during the holidays with my family and
chosen family. I can’t get enough of seeing
all of the holiday specials. And if there is a
live concert situation–MOVE OVER! I love
a holiday pops concert from our symphony
in Columbus or The Nutcracker or A
Christmas Carol...anything I can see live
to put me in the spirit of the season. I also
love to have some nights in and bake and
put on some Christmas classics.
BLH: I’ve been on tour the last few
Christmases, so probably getting to spend
it with my family. Real family or tour family!
Q: What’s your favorite Christmas
song?
NW: “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)”
by Darlene Love is the ultimate Christmas
song for me.
BLH: I hate Christmas music, but probably
“O Holy Night”. The Celine version, of course!
Q: This season, you two will be touring
for Murray & Peter’s 10th anniversary
Christmas revue, “A Drag Queen
Christmas!” You’ll be hosting, Nina...and
Brooke, you’ll be part of the fabulous cast
of RuGirls! On November 21st, we can
see you two at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn
alongside Sapphira Cristal, Roxxxy
Andrews and Crystal Methyd! What can
folks expect from this tour and how fun
will it be to travel and perform with all
these stars?
NW: This tour really has the best talent! I
am so excited to host this 10th anniversary
celebration with some of the best on the
roster. I think that audiences can expect to be
fully gooped, gagged, and swagged as their
halls get decked and their bells get jingled.
This is a not-miss event!
BLH: They can expect glamor, glitz and
laughs! It is so much fun getting to tour with
the queens, because usually we are all by
ourselves.
Q: What else is coming up for you two?
BLH: Season 5 of Canada’s Drag Race is
out November 22!
NW: 2025 is going to be a great year. Watch
out for Tina Romero’s Queens of the Dead–a
brand new movie that stars Jaquel Spivey,
Katy O’Brian, Dominique Jackson, Cheyenne
Jackson, Margaret Cho, Brigette Lundy-
Payne, and so many more (AND MEEE!!!),
as well as a book from Harper Collins, some
new music, touring, and more.
Q: And finally: What’s the best Christmas
present you ever got?
BLH: A Motorola flip phone!
NW: When I was a kid, I got a Teddy Ruxpin.
It was magic.

INTERVIEW BY JIM SILVESTRI
Drag Performer of the Month:
BEAUJANGLESS
Dance Diva & Chappell Roan headliner
Best description of my drag: Sultry, lit
Young Auntie
How many years I’ve been at it: Six
years now
Original hometown: Rio Piedras,
Puerto Rico
Favorite number to do: I have a
Whitney mix that revives me every
single time, that goes from “I Have
Nothing” into “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay
(Thunderpuss Mix),” and it’s quite the
crowd favorite.
A number I will NEVER do: I’ve never
given that a thought...but I guess now a
Diddy song, lol
Favorite cosmetic product: I love
concealer and blush! You can do so
much feminization (when you look this
cxnt) with just some concealer and blush
Reason I started drag: I was actually
referred into it as an “up and coming NYC
it girl” who could not hear a song without
breaking into a twerk session. Frankie Sharp
saw that and said, “You should perform.”
The following week, I was having a debut
performance at Metro for Kandy Muse and
JanelleNo.5’s “Metrosensual” party and
haven’t left the stage since!
Most important diva ever: Whitney Houston
A drag performer I admire: I would have to
say my mother, JanelleNo.5. The way she
can command a room and shift the energy in
any room with just a mic and a “fuck ass bob”
is nothing short of a super-talent that I truly
admire.
The man of my dreams: Travis Kelce, but
then he blocked me on Instagram and started
dating Taylor. I haven’t been able to conjure
up a new one that’s worthy since.
Drink of choice: Hennessy Red Bull with a
splash of pineapple at night, and an espresso
martini by morning
Best thing about drag: The freedom. Some
often take it for granted, but I think about all
the liberating moments where I can truly just
let go as my most authentic queer self and
express myself on stage or really anywhere.
Drag is such a grand extension to femininity
in my experience. Femininity is the basis of
my queerness.

Before I even knew what gay was
or that I was gay/queer, I knew
I had strong feminine energy I
needed to release, and it’s not lost
on me that not everyone has that
freedom.
Worst thing about drag: The price
to be a fab queen. I don’t wear
much...and still end up spending
a pretty penny on the strings and
floss I wear.
Proudest drag moment I’ve had:
I’ve been blessed to have had
so many. My first would be my
Harper’s Bazaar cover last year,
which, with the talent involved in
that shoot (Sasha Colby and Sasha
Velour, etc.) I was shocked I was
picked as the cover star, but it was
CORRECT (Hehe). And also, this
past month I headlined Chappell
Roan’s set at the All Things Go
musical festival in front of 10,000
people, which was really cxnt.
Weirdest drag moment I’ve had:
I can’t say I’ve had any weird
moments; maybe performing at
private parties. Often in NYC during
Pride, we perform at offices and
such...Those are always awkward
because you can always hear
your heels on the hard wood floors
louder than the music, and it’s like
3PM.
Best advice to a new queen: I
say go for what you want. And the
more you do, the more you’ll learn
who you are as an artist, who is
consuming your art and why you’re
doing what you’re doing. And don’t
forget to network and wash your
tights and pads because someone
like me will say something.
Where to find me: Pieces every
Monday at 9PM | Hush every
Thursday at 10PM | Playhouse
every Saturday at 9PM
