"Following the ceremony, guests were invited to<br />
the glass reception tent for cocktail hour where<br />
they were greeted with the personalization of the<br />
couple's crest, which channeled the princess vibe<br />
the bride was hoping for. <strong>The</strong> warm glow of real<br />
candlelight combined with comforting neutral<br />
tones, greenery and shades of white florals<br />
created an inviting setting.<br />

Atropical wedding in the winters of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It seems<br />
impossible. But if this is what the bride wants for her big day - then the<br />
right wedding industry people can make it happen!<br />
To start, it is very important to choose a venue with large windows to brighten the<br />
whole room. In this case, the best option is Ironwood Cider House, a new and modern<br />
venue located in Niagara-on-the-Lake. For the floral arrangements we suggest using<br />
bright colors like pink, green, and orange. This is the perfect color combination to<br />
create bright and tropical wedding decorations.

Of course you shouldn't rule out the concept of tropical flowers<br />
themselves. Local florists will easily find the best variations and<br />
arrangements for your decorations. It's not a tropical wedding<br />
without orchids, anthurium, ginger, and protea. Monstera leaves will<br />
also add the perfect touch.<br />
For cocktail hour we recommend to impress your guests with drinks<br />
made of fresh cordial made with tropical fruits poured into glasses<br />
decorated with flowers.<br />
Yet there is no cocktail hour without appetizers. A local restaurant<br />
Chef can create any tasters that will match your vision. <strong>The</strong>y will do<br />
so while acknowledging any preferences of your guests whether it be<br />
meat, seafood, and of course something special for the vegetarians.<br />
Most importantly the food will match your tropical wedding<br />
aesthetic.<br />
What is a wedding without cake? We recommend a minimal design<br />
on the outside and an abundance of taste on the inside. A vanilla<br />
shortcake with confit made of tropical fruits will leave every guest<br />
satisfied.<br />
Contemporary tableware will perfectly complement the tropical<br />
theme of the wedding. Pink elegant plates and green sage napkins<br />
look very effective and harmonious on the table in combination<br />
with tropical floral arrangements

This is one of the most memorable weddings of 2023 for us at Sugar Bloom<br />
Floral. <strong>The</strong> colours were so vibrant and gorgeous with literally<br />
flowers everywhere!<br />
My name is Karen Langlois and I am the owner and lead floral designer at Sugar Bloom<br />
Floral. I am so thrilled when a bride comes to me and says "I adore flowers, that is my<br />
favourite part of the planning process, and I would love to have flowers everywhere!"<br />
When I can set up a wedding that is over the top with flowers, I am truly in my glory.<br />
This is what it was like for Rebecca and Joseph's wedding in June of 2023. This<br />
adorable couple got married at Elsie Perrin Williams Estate in London, Ontario and<br />
had their ceremony and reception in the same room so that also meant full room flip<br />
in between the ceremony and reception. So between ourselves and the caterers we had<br />
a very short time crunch for them to remove chairs, set up tables and linens and for us<br />
to change floral arrangements... and A LOT of them! We nailed it!

It was so rewarding in itself to hear all the guests complimenting<br />
and watching in amazement of how awe-inspiring the room looked<br />
when we were finished! <strong>The</strong>re was not a space left without flowers!<br />
It was incredible!<br />
To top it off this enchanting couple hired Justin from <strong>The</strong> Right<br />
Moments Photography to capture these phenomenal images of<br />
their day!<br />
A tip from me as an event florist... this is also a fantastic way to save<br />
money if you're on a budget. Reusing the flowers and decor from the<br />
ceremony at the reception is a perfect way to utilize the flowers for<br />
the whole day and get full use out of everything . We offer a transfer<br />
service and I would recommend hiring your florist or decorator to<br />
do this if there are a lot of details that need to be considered. We<br />
have done quite a few weddings where the venue coordinators or<br />
friends of the bride and groom can simply move everything and this<br />
helps with lowering the cost as well.

Another creative idea is to do bud vases on your tables (bud<br />

We wear our rings daily because they are a symbol of a time<br />
or experience in our lives. Whether they are a gift, a family<br />
heirloom, an engagement ring, a travel memory or just that<br />
piece of jewelry we loved while browsing a shop, looking down<br />
at our rings spark memories and feelings of happiness.<br />
<strong>The</strong> durability of our rings will depend on the type of metal or<br />
combination of metals that it is made from. Each type of metal<br />
has its advantages and disadvantages. <strong>The</strong> most common metal<br />

Non-sexy things that will make<br />
your wedding unmistakably easier<br />
I guarantee that you’ve thought about the colour of your bridesmaids’ dresses and the flowers in your bouquet. You’ve likely tasted the<br />
food and thought about what kind of wine you want to stock at the bar. However, there are likely some things that haven’t crossed your<br />
mind - because let’s be honest... the tips in this article AREN’T sexy. As wedding planners, we encourage our couples to think about<br />
ALL the details. But it really comes down to us on the wedding day to solve the problems. That’s our job and we do it with pleasure. If<br />
you don’t have the luxury of a planner, or even if you do, read on for some things to consider. With a little bit of pre-planning you can<br />
ensure that your wedding day is easier and more fun for both you and your guests.<br />

Consider the temperature and your attire<br />
If you’re getting married in July and wearing a heavy gown,<br />
you’re going to be hot. Likewise, if you’re taking photos outside<br />
in February, you’re going to be cold. A little pre-planning goes a<br />
long way here. If you’re getting married in a hot month, provide<br />
each of your bridesmaids with atomizers of mineral water for<br />
a quick cooling spritz. Pack a small battery-operated fan that<br />
you can aim at your face between photos. Chat with your<br />
photographer to find shady spots to take those photos. If you’re<br />
going to be outside in the cold, consider a pair of leggings under<br />
your dress (nobody will see them!) and ensure that you have a<br />
warm coat or wrap that’s photo-worthy.<br />
Think about your family photos<br />
On the topic of photos, generally, extended family photos<br />
happen after the ceremony, when everyone is already there and<br />
‘easy’ to wrangle. Your photographer will likely ask you for a list<br />
of family groupings well in advance. When you create that list,<br />
try to start with the biggest group and work down to the smallest,<br />
so that as soon as you’re done with Uncle Bob and the cousins,<br />
they can hit the bar. One exception to that rule is to start with<br />
anyone who has mobility issues (maybe grandma would like<br />
to go sit down sooner rather than later) or anyone very young<br />
(those littles have limited attention spans!). Create your list<br />
using people’s proper names, not ‘Uncles’ or ‘Cousins’ so that<br />
the photographer can yell out names as they’re assembling the<br />
next group.<br />
Hydrate!<br />
Unless you have a planner who is going to literally push a bottle<br />
of water into your hand at every available moment, plan to bring<br />
water for yourself and your wedding party (and no, the 95% of<br />
your beer that’s water doesn’t count!). Adequate hydration can<br />
prevent headaches, make you feel less fatigued, and counteract<br />
a potential post-wedding hangover. Pack a cooler with lots of<br />
water, and ensure that you and your party take every opportunity<br />
to drink as much water as you can. Having someone bring you

food during cocktail hour isn’t a bad idea either.<br />
Identify good ‘break’ times<br />
Excuse me for a second while I sound like your mom and tell<br />
you to go to the bathroom (especially since you listened to my<br />
previous point, and you’re well hydrated!). I know it sounds<br />
absolutely ridiculous, but here’s the thing: EVERY. SINGLE.<br />
TIME. we try to start a speech at a reception, there are two<br />
groomsmen, one bridesmaid, and one mom in the bathroom. It<br />
really creates quite a delay when trying to keep your reception<br />
events running on time. Before your big day, think through the<br />
schedule and be mindful of when the appropriate times to visit<br />
the loo would be. Communicate that with your head table and<br />
parents as well, so that they can also be in the room when it’s time<br />
to start a speech. I know that when you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta<br />
go, but if it’s possible to plan this out a bit, it’ll help your entire<br />
event flow more smoothly, avoiding awkward breaks for guests.<br />
Allow time for dress bustling<br />
If you have a dress that has a long train, you’ll likely have a bustle<br />
put in. Depending on the style of dress and the kind of bustle,<br />
this could take anywhere from two to twenty minutes. First,<br />
make sure that you take someone with you to your final fitting<br />
who can be shown how to bustle the dress, and who will help<br />
on your day (mom, MOH….). Second, allow some time for this<br />
to happen. I’d generally recommend bustling your dress prior<br />
to entering the reception, and definitely before the first dance.<br />
Practice your dance in a dress<br />
While we’re on the topic of your dress, I’d definitely recommend<br />
practicing your first dance (especially if it’s choreographed) in<br />
a dress of some kind, and in your actual wedding shoes. For<br />
obvious reasons, you likely can’t wear your actual dress, but try<br />
to recreate it as best you can. If your dress is big and bulky, belt<br />
a comforter around your waist and practice in that. If it’s sleek<br />
and A-line, perhaps you have a long skirt you could use for a test.<br />
If you can practice in a simulated dress beforehand, you’ll avoid<br />
the surprises of restricted movement that you might encounter<br />
on the dance floor.<br />
Think about your seating arrangement<br />
Creating a seating chart isn’t fun. But it is unavoidable. Letting<br />
guests sit where they want is inviting chaos. When you’re placing<br />
guests, be as considerate as you can about where in the room<br />
they’re placed. Try to ensure that elderly guests aren’t near the<br />
DJ’s speakers, that your MC is near the podium, and that your<br />
vendors - yes, you need to seat your vendors -have a clear line<br />
of sight to the head table. Your photographers will need to see<br />
you to capture the kisses that result from your kissing game, and<br />
your planners need to be able to make eye contact if you need<br />
anything. Your DJ is normally seated at their booth.<br />
Give your bouquets some love<br />
Ask your florist whether the bouquets are delivered in vases. If<br />
they aren’t, you’ll likely want to purchase some to be set up at<br />
the venue, into which your bridesmaids can put their bouquets<br />
after the ceremony. It’s traditional for the maids to take their<br />
bouquets with them at the end of the night, and keeping them<br />
in water as much as possible will ensure that they stay fresher<br />
(and can be enjoyed) for longer. If your florist provides vases,<br />
task one of your bridesmaids with remembering to actually<br />
bring them when you leave your getting ready location for the<br />
ceremony. Especially if you’re preserving your bouquet, you’ll<br />
want to keep it as hydrated as possible. Many floral preservation<br />
companies suggest that you trim the stems and put it in water as<br />
soon as you can after the ceremony.<br />
Cleanup at the end of the night<br />
Well before your wedding day arrives, you’ll likely find that you<br />
start amassing stuff (usually in large quantities!). When you’re<br />
prepping your decor, stationery, and other items to take to the<br />
venue, pack them in totes that are CLEARLY labeled (bonus<br />
points if you take a photo of the way you’d like the contents set<br />
up) and sorted by area. One tote should contain everything for<br />
your welcome table (guestbook, cardbox, etc.), one should have<br />
everything for your guest tables (placecards organized by table<br />
and in order of who sits beside whom), one should have all the<br />
photos for your family photo display, etc. Label the boxes that<br />
things came in, and stash the empty boxes under the tables (if<br />
there’s table linen to hide them!) for easy cleanup at the end of<br />
the night. It likely won’t be YOU cleaning up, so try to make it as<br />
easy as possible for whoever IS cleaning up to put things back in<br />
their proper place.<br />
I know that these nitty-gritty items are likely not what you’ve<br />
been fantasizing about since you were little and imagining your<br />
dream day. You deserve an incredible day, and you should be<br />
able to relax and enjoy the process, rather than having to solve<br />
problems and put out fires all day. Plan to be proactive and your<br />
day will be full of positive memories, not stress!<br />
