The Learning Adventure began providing school trips and educational tours

in 2011 – and since then, we’ve taken thousands of students from all over

the world on academic travel programs. Many of our growing team come

from an educational background, and most of us interact with teachers

every day. We understand the rewards and challenges of working in the

education sector, so we aim to support you as much as possible in planning

your next school trip.

This brochure outlines a selection of our Classics school trips - however, we

can customize any tour for you globally. What’s more, all of our school tour

itineraries are fully customizable in line with your budget and requirements,

so please reach out to us to discuss your needs.

You may notice that itineraries in this brochure do not have prices attached.

This is because each tour is customized specifically to your requirements

and can vary depending on departure date, number of students, travel style,

activities included and guides required. However, we always ensure that the

price we quote is the best price available as we want as many students as

possible to experience an educational trip abroad. If you would like to find

All-Inclusive Trips

Most schools book all-inclusive trips. We cater for all dietary

requirements, provide a variety of transport types, and include

all activities and transport. We can also arrange trips that allow

groups more flexibility.

Our payment plan is flexible and we understand that every

institution is different. That’s why we endeavour to organise

and arrange a payment plan that works for your group.

Unlimited Quotes

To get your trips just right, we revise itineraries as many times

as necessary, commitment- and cost-free. We do this because we

understand that itineraries may need to be approved by several

members of senior management.

Pre-Departure Meetings

To prepare students and parents for departure, a member of our

team can come into your school to present on the trip ahead.

We provide information on the learning objectives, packing list,

flights and methods of contact. This will also be included in a

pre-departure pack.

Varied Travel Styles

We cater to all travel styles, from hostels to four-star hotels.

Accommodation must meet our standards and students never

share rooms with the public or the opposite sex. Whether you

choose private or public transportation, we only use reputable,

safe and trusted modes of transport.

On-the-Ground Support

We have offices in Asia, Europe, Australasia & the US, so we

are always on hand to help during your trip. Your dedicated

Adventure Leader will provide on-the-ground support during

your trip.

Flights

We can book ATOL-protected flights as part of your package.

We have special access to group rates, which streamlines the

process and means that full payment is not needed up front.

Our Adventure Leaders make sure that every part of the tour is a

success. All our Adventure Leaders are selected for their ability to

connect with and inspire students and deliver an exceptional

educational experience. Adventure Leaders manage the day-today

logistics and safety on tour, helping ensure your programme

of activities runs seamlessly from start to finish. We only hire

exceptional people and some of our Adventure Leaders have been

working with us since our first trips departed. Our Adventure

Leaders know their locations inside-out, undergo our in-house

training programme, and work closely with the rest of our team to

understand your specific learning objectives and on-tour

requirements. We have over 100 Adventure Leaders worldwide

who might be showing you around their home city!

GEORGE HICKS

UK Adventure Leader

George is a Londoner - but he feels like

a European at heart!

He speaks German, French, Italian, and

Dutch, and loves how languages offer

insights into a country’s culture.

An art, architecture and history buff,

George is also a singer, and his ukulele

is never too far away to liven up a trip.

FRANCESCA DE PREZ

Italy Adventure Leader

Francesca grew up in sunny Italy and,

after trying out a few countries and

picking up a few languages (Italian,

English, French, German, and a little

Spanish), she settled in London – the

city of her heart.

On tour, Francesca enjoys finding out

what makes each participant special and

getting lost with them (metaphorically, of

course!) in different cultures.

FRANCE

CLASSICS TRIP TO THE

SOUTH OF FRANCE

A Classics school trip provides the opportunity to visit some

out-of-the-box destinations beyond the staples of Greece and

Italy. On this 4-day Learning Adventure to the South of France,

students will learn more about the Roman Empire’s lasting global

impact through visits to Nîmes, Glanum & Arles. Exploring sites

both archaeological and inhabited, students will learn about the

Ancient Romans’ contributions to modern society.

Don’t forget that all our itineraries are fully customizable

according to your needs and budget.

AT A GLANCE

DAY 1–2

Nîmes: Meet your Adventure Leader, and

head out into the city of Nîmes. Visit Maison

Carrée, one of the best-preserved Roman

temples in the world, and explore the city's

stunning Old Town. Pay a visit to Nîmes'

famous amphitheatre and the Romanite

Museum to learn about the occupation of the

region. Head outside the city to see the Pont

du Gard, one of the tallest aqueducts ever built,

before exploring the accompanying museum.

DAY 3-4

Arles: Drive east to the Roman city of Glanum - once

an important site in the Empire's occupation. Learn how

Roman cities were developed and discover the different

types of public and private buildings. Head into Arles - still

occupied today - and visit the amphitheatre and museum,

which houses many Roman statues and artefacts.

GREECE

CLASSICS TRIP TO

ATHENS & NAFPLION

In this sample 7-day itinerary, students visit key educational

sites like Tiryns, the Acropolis and accompanying museum,

while also taking immersive crafts classes - and a democracy

workshop on Pnyx Hill. They’ll also take trips to Mycenae and

Delphi, while delving into contemporary Greek culture through

visits into Plaka Old Town and a trip to a local olive farm.

DAY 1-4

Athens & Delphi: Meet your Adventure

Leader, and head to the National

Archaeological Museum to explore over

11,000 exhibits. Explore Plaka Old Town and

grab dinner at a local taverna. Take a guided

tour of the Acropolis and explore the

accompanying museum, before taking part in

a Greek Theatre workshop. Spend a full day

exploring historic Delphi, visit the iconic Agora,

take a street food tour of Athens, and enjoy an

interactive democracy workshop on Pnyx Hill.

DAY 5

Mycenae: Spend a day exploring the site of Mycenae,

stopping at Corinth Canal en route. Explore the Lion's

Gate and the historic Tomb of Clytemnestra, before visiting

Homer's 'mighty walled Tiryns'.

DAY 6-7

Nafplion: Explore the city streets and grab dinner in a local taverna.

Discover the site of Epidaurus, visit a local olive farm to learn about

the production process - and try the best varieties in the region.

ITALY

CLASSICS TRIP TO ROME

& OSTIA ANTICA

For any Classics tour, the center of the Roman Empire is a

must-visit. On this sample 5-day school trip - the perfect

length to get students there and back within the school week -

they’ll explore the most iconic sites in the city such as the

Colosseum, while also heading to Gladiator School for a handson

historic experience. They’ll also spend a day exploring the

ancient Ostia Antica site to further enhance their

understanding.

Rome: Meet your Adventure Leader and

Visit the city's ancient center - the Roman

Forum. Explore the buildings and head up to

Palatine Hill, before heading to the city's

most remarkable site - the Colosseum.

Gladiator School for an immersive workshop.

DAY 3

Ostia Antica: Take a full day trip to the ancient

site of Ostia Antica. Explore the fascinating ruins -

among many, discover a full theater, a preserved

two-storey apartment, and a selection of ancient shops.

DAY 4-5

Rome: Back in the city, explore the monumental Baths of

Diocletian, once capable of housing 3,000 bathers. Visit the

Capitoline Museum to examine some of the great masterpieces

of Roman sculpture, before grabbing a local Italian meal.

SPAIN

CLASSICS SCHOOL TRIP

TO MADRID

Introduce your students to a different side of the Roman

Empire with this 5-day Classics school trip to Madrid. Exploring

the Ancient Romans’ impact on Spanish cultural development,

students will combine visits to well-preserved historical sites

with a chance to discover modern Spanish culture.



AT A GLANCE

DAY 1–2

Madrid: Meet your Adventure Leader at the

airport, before heading out into the city for

a walking tour. Explore the Royal Palace,

Mercado San Miguel, and the Parque del

Retiro. Dive into the rich history of Roman

Hispania with a visit to the Museo

Arqueologico Nacional, before venturing out

to the Roman city of Complutum, founded

during the reign of Emperor Augustus, to

explore the impressive buildings and mosaics.

DAY 3–5

Segobriga and Segovia: Head out to the beautiful

Archaeological Park of Segobriga, one of the best

preserved Roman cities on the peninsula. Make sure to

check out the mosaic floors! Additionally, venture out to

the fascinating Archaeological Park of Carranque, which

dates back to the 4th Century CE, before trying your hand at

flamenco dancing and sampling a delicious local meal. Spend a full

day exploring the UNESCO town of Segovia - home to a 28m high

aqueduct and accompanying museum.

CLASSICS SCHOOL TRIP

TO BATH

A Classics school trip doesn’t necessarily need to be days long

in order for students to get an enhanced understanding of the

impacts of the Roman Empire on British history. This trip to the

historic city of Bath - a key center for the Romans in the UK - is

short enough to only need a weekend away, while providing

students with a fun and informative look at the ancient world’s

influence on British development.



AT A GLANCE

DAY 1

Chedworth: Meet your Adventure Leader,

and dive straight into the wonders of Roman

Britain at Chedworth Roman Villa - one of

the grandest surviving villas from the

Roman period in Britain. With exceptional

access to amazing mosaic floors, bath houses,

and hypocaust systems, students will develop

an impressive understanding of ancient

architecture and engineering.

DAY 2

Bath: Today, students will explore the city's most

fascinating site - the Roman Baths. Get a teaching

session from one of the museum's specialists, where

students will even be able to handle some of the site’s

artefacts. Take some time to explore the museum's exhibits,

where features include Minerva's Head, curse tablets, and coins.

Visit the remains of an ancient sauna, changing rooms & courtyard.

CLASSICS TRIP TO

A Classics school trip that combines multiple destinations provides

the opportunity for students to view the Roman Empire in different

contexts. In turn, it provides them with the ability to compare and

contrast societal impacts, gaining an insight into the varied ways

in which Roman history has developed across the world.

AT A GLANCE

DAY 1–3

London & Bath: Meet your Adventure Leader,

and head on a walking tour of the city. Visit the

Mithraeum and the British Museum before a

group workshop on Roman life, and head to the

West End for an unforgettable show. Head out to

the historic city of Bath to explore the 2000-year

old Roman baths, complete with a teaching session.

DAY 4–5

Nîmes: Transfer to France, and take a walking tour

of your new home. Visit the Maison Carrée - one of the

best-preserved Roman temples in the world - and the

city's impressive amphitheatre, which still holds events

today. Explore the Romanite Museum to learn about the

Roman occupation of the city.

DAY 6–8

Arles: Head out to Arles, to see Roman buildings still in use today.

Explore the amphitheatre and the Arles Museum, which is home to a

Gallo-Roman wooden barge. Take an excursion to the Roman city of

Glanum, now an important archaeological site that was once an key city in

the region. See the iconic Pont du Gard, and explore the accompanying

museum to learn about this feat of ancient architecture.

The Grayson School from Philadelphia took a ten-day

trip to Rome and Florence. As students had been

studying Italian history, the school worked with The

Learning Adventure to make sure their itinerary was

challenging and informative.

We used The Learning Adventure for our first international trip to

groups who had a very specific itinerary they ran with no changes
