Engineering a
Sustainable Legacy
Drew Reavis’ journey as an environmental and
safety engineer is a testament to Delta Chi’s
profound impact on a professional career. His
path began at Appalachian State University,
where he majored in Chemistry, and he later
pursued a second degree in Chemical Engineering
at North Carolina State University (NC State).
This educational foundation laid the groundwork
for a distinguished career that spans across
pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, and
governmental projects.
Guided by his father’s early advice that
education was the most valuable inheritance
he could receive, Drew has consistently
leveraged his academic background to lead
with innovation and commitment in every role
he has undertaken. Drew’s experiences with
Delta Chi helped shape him into a leader who
not only excels in his field but also passionately
advocates for environmental sustainability and
community engagement.
Fraternity Influence and Networking
Delta Chi was more than a social outlet for him; it was a cornerstone of
his personal and professional development. Joining the fraternity in his
senior year at Appalachian State, Drew discovered a supportive network
that would significantly impact his career trajectory. Delta Chi’s four
core values became guiding principles in Drew’s professional life. As
he moved from Appalachian State to NC State, the fraternity’s network
provided moral support and practical professional assistance.
Throughout his career, the fraternity’s extensive alumni network
facilitated valuable connections. These relationships proved instrumental
as Drew navigated the complex landscape of environmental engineering,
helping him secure early career opportunities and providing ongoing
professional advice and support.
While specific roles like his position at Bayer resulted from his
qualifications and experience, the soft skills and networking prowess
honed through Delta Chi undoubtedly played a role in his career
development. The fraternity’s influence extended beyond mere job
placements, fostering a sense of community and professional ethos that
Drew carried into each new challenge.
Professional Career

marked by global influence and leadership, beginning with his pivotal
role at Monsanto. There, he led critical environmental remediation
and safety initiatives, setting new standards for environmental
responsibility within the agricultural sector. His efforts addressed
immediate environmental concerns and pioneered practices that would
influence the industry at large.
After Monsanto’s merger with Bayer, Drew ascended to Director, Head
of North America Environmental and Sustainability. In this expansive
role, he oversaw Bayer’s environmental strategies across North America,
ensuring compliance with national and international environmental
regulations. His leadership during this period was crucial in steering
the company through complex regulatory landscapes and towards
more sustainable practices on a large scale. Drew’s career also included
significant international experience, notably in Kundl, Austria, where
he served as a project manager at a pharmaceutical plant. This position
underscored his ability to manage and implement process improvements
across diverse geographical locations, further highlighting his
adaptability and global perspective.
Known for his practical and collaborative approach to leadership, Drew
consistently fosters a work environment that values cross-functional
teamwork, active listening, and result-oriented projects. His strategies
in waste reduction and ecological impact improvements have enhanced
operations at his workplaces and set a precedent for industry-wide
sustainability practices.
Significant Projects and Achievements
Throughout his career at Monsanto and later at Bayer, Drew Reavis has
been at the forefront of pioneering projects emphasizing environmental
sustainability and safety. His commitment to environmental
remediation has led to transformative changes in how industrial
sites manage and mitigate the impact of historical pollution. Drew’s
leadership in these initiatives achieved compliance with stringent
regulations and helped restore lands, making them safe again for
agricultural and community use.
