From Texas Tech to Great Wolf
Lodge, Keenan Weiss Exemplifies
Leadership and Service in the
Hospitality Industry
Keenan Weiss, Texas Tech ‘12, is a proud Delta
Chi alumnus who has built an impressive career
in the hospitality industry, rising to significant
leadership positions at Great Wolf Lodge. Deeply
rooted in his Delta Chi experience, Keenan’s story
highlights the enduring impact of fraternity
values on his approach to leadership and his
dedication to shaping the next generation of
industry leaders.
Delta Chi: Where Leadership Begins
Although Keenan’s career path began in high
school, where Great Wolf Lodge recruited him,
his career was heavily influenced by his time
with Delta Chi at Texas Tech. The fraternity
provided a foundation where Keenan developed
critical leadership qualities and values that
would shape his entire professional journey.
Surrounded by brothers who valued integrity,
service, and personal growth, Keenan found
inspiration and guidance that would influence
his career decisions. His involvement in Delta
Chi was more than an extracurricular activity—
it was a transformative experience that laid the
groundwork for his professional ethos.
Climbing the Ladder: From Aquatics
to General Manager
Keenan’s hospitality career began in earnest
as an Aquatics Supervisor at Great Wolf Lodge
in Grapevine, Texas. His strong work ethic
and natural leadership skills quickly became
evident, allowing him to ascend the ranks and
hold various pivotal roles, including Director of
Aquatics and Assistant General Manager.
His career trajectory took him across several
locations, including Grapevine, Texas; Manteca,
California; and Kansas City, Kansas, where
Keenan refined his operational expertise and
leadership acumen, culminating in his current
role as General Manager in Kansas City. “Every
step up the ladder came with its challenges, but
those challenges are what built my character and
strengthened my resolve,” Keenan reflects.
Leading by Example:
A Hands-On Approach
Keenan’s leadership philosophy is characterized
by a hands-on, employee-first approach. He
places a strong emphasis on his team’s well-being
and professional development. His leadership
style, which motivates and supports staff for
success, is deeply rooted in his undergraduate
experience, where he learned the importance of
service, collaboration, and leading by example.
Keenan’s approach is one of empowerment—he
believes that by investing in his team, he can
foster a culture of trust, respect, and mutual
growth. “Leadership is not about being in charge;
it’s about taking care of those in your charge,”
Keenan often says, a philosophy that echoes the
values instilled in him during his fraternity days.
Setting New Standards:
Achievements that Matter
Throughout his career, Keenan has led significant
projects, including the successful launch of
several new Great Wolf Lodge properties.
Keenan’s ability to manage large-scale projects
with precision and dedication has driven business
growth and set new benchmarks for excellence
within the hospitality industry, reflecting his
deep commitment to both his team and the guests
they serve.
A Partnership Built on Mutual Goals
Keenan’s personal life is deeply intertwined
with his professional journey, especially
through the connections he made in Delta
Chi. It was within the fraternity that he met
his wife, Maggie. Together, they have built a
life centered on mutual support and shared
goals, focusing intensively on their careers and
future aspirations and pursuing their ambitions
with dedication and clarity. “We’re a team in
every sense of the word, both in life and in
our careers,” Keenan reflects, underscoring the
strength of their bond.
A Legacy of Leadership and Service
Keenan Weiss’s journey is a compelling example
of how Delta Chi can significantly influence both
personal and professional development. From his
early days as an undergraduate member to his
current role as General Manager at Great Wolf
Lodge, Keenan’s path embodies the fraternity’s
values of promoting friendship, developing
character, advancing justice, and assisting in
the acquisition of a sound education. Keenan’s
journey is a powerful reminder of the impact
that Delta Chi’s values can have, not just during
college years but throughout a lifetime of
leadership and service.
