INTO NEXT YEAR

by Myron J. Clifton

There were highs and lows for the year, but

we go into next year with optimism that may

be naive but nonetheless, we persist because

we must.

What awaits the nation next year is both

known and unknown, but what we do know

is we can and will make a difference in large

and small ways.

America and Americans are always at a

crossroads. We go left, we go right, and

sometimes we standstill and let things

happen.

Now is not the time to sit out the political

process or to give in to our worst

motivations. We cannot wish harm on our

neighbors, friends, or political opponents, no

matter how cathartic it may feel coming on

the heels of a devastating election loss.

Hate, racism, misogyny, misogynoir,

capitulation to oligarchs, foreign influence,

social media disinformation, misinformation,

and emotional manipulation rightly fuel

anger, thoughts of retribution, and hope for

the worst of the worst for those who sided

with a lying felon who hates the nation and

most of its people.

People will suffer, people will die, people

will lose life savings, and people will see

relatives deported, harassed, and jailed.

What he says he will unleash will harm more

than just his voters. It will harm people like

you and me who hate him for what he and

his party has done to the nation. His harm will

not discriminate like his voters’ wish will

happen.

Children, the elderly, disabled, children in the

foster system, homeless, veterans, poor

people, and of course, Black people the most –

as is the great American tradition, will suffer

great harm if he does what he has promised

to do and if his Project 2025 is implemented

whole or in parts.

We can hate him and hate them for what they

have done, but also acknowledge that to

survive and move to a better future, we will

necessarily do so with Americans who do not

agree with or vote like us.

Dear Dean Magazine | Dec. 22, 2024 | Page 8

DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE

Myron J. Clifton

It not so much as “Going high” as those who

misunderstand Michelle Obama’s wise words, but it

is akin to getting to higher ground so as not be

drowned in the waters of bigotry, racism,

homophobia, and hatred that informs so much of

our political and personal dialogue.

For America to survive and continue the “Great

Experiment” we must, like any experiment, review,

reassess, study, learn, and change tactics as we

search for new and better outcomes.

I don’t want to see concentration camps, bounties

for turning in neighbors, big media as propaganda,

the courts as a weapon, or military and national

guards in the streets against we the people.

And I’d venture that no matter how angry you are,

you do not want that either. Because if that

happens, it won’t just be those we disagree with

politically, it will be any/all of us who are targets

and in danger.

I don’t want you to suffer so for that wish to be

fulfilled, the people who voted differently must be

safe too, no matter how unsatisfying that may

sound right now.

MORE THAN

DADDY ISSUES

by Myron J. Clifton

It’s more than daddy issues that causes left and

far left democrats, especially but not exclusively,

white men to be so vocal and upset about the

pardon.

They hated Joe’s unconstitutional love. His public

affection. His willingness to cry, be vulnerable, and

his acceptance and understanding of addiction.

The president has consistently reaffirmed what

manhood really is. What fatherhood really is. And

what grief is. He has been a living repudiation of

maga/qnon/alpha male bullshit pushed by right

and some left wing.

Laugh-a-males is a better term. The president isn’t

“macho” because that’s a fake way of being a

man.

The president similar in that regard to Barack.

Unafraid to dote on his wife. To be loving in

public, and to know and be comfortable sharing

that his wife is better than himself at -manythings.

These two men embody a type of man, father,

partner, leader that is anathema to maga manbabies.

They are also hated by religious Americans

because their lives reject religious dogma that

centers men-only religious patriarchy. That is

oxymoronic but that’s what it is.

It is why white evangelicals refuse to accept

Obama as Christian and why American

Catholics condemned and voted against Biden.

And why far too many Black pastors were also

against both men.

Side note: these are why these same groups

hate VP Harris. Black. Woman. Mixed. Loving

man by HER SIDE, and in supporting role. And

of course, Jewish.

They don’t hate his pardon. They hate his

manhood. They offer no sympathy or empathy

to drug afflicted or drug affected- the “war on

drugs” taught us that.

Like the war on fentanyl is mis-focused on

Mexico while ignoring prevention, treatment,

and post treatment even for their own white

children/adults.

Dear Dean Magazine | Dec. 22, 2024 | Page 12

DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE

Myron J. Clifton

Give me a father understanding his child’s

addiction and having the heart to forgive

because consequences happened, and they

work. Over a man and people who only see

punitive punishment for everyone though that

generally doesn’t work for addiction.

I’ve never been addicted but like all Americans I

have family who struggle with it. I love my

addicted relatives even while knowing my love

can’t save, cure, or supplant their addiction.

The President is 82 and wants to leave his

nation and family knowing he personally did

what he could to make each better.

Give me that over a 78-year-old tyrant eager to

harm everyone in this and any nation that

offends him.

Anyway, thank you President Biden for again

being a role model, leader, and wonderful

example of what dads should be.

ELECTED DEMOCRATS ARE

TIRED OF BLACK VOTERS

by Myron J. Clifton

Thinking how Byron Donalds and Tim “big hips”

Scott found out that no matter how fresh and new

your tap-dancing shoes are, and no matter how

often they pat your head ... or grant you a blond

wife they will always hire other minorities like

before you. Krash Patel & Vivek Ramaswampy are

the two latest examples. – Their names are

purposely misspelled since republicans couldn’t

fixed their mouths to correctly pronounce Kamala.

“Anchor babies,” “illegals,” and other insults they

yell at democrats who elect various races/ethnicity

candidates, while republicans will hire immigrants

without irony or questioning from media.

Every insult Obama and VP Harris still get, but big

media and maga are silent about Vivek, Kash, and

JD Vance’s missing Indian immigrant wife.

They rile up their base but also rile up folk like

Bernie Sanders and other elected democrats,

mostly white men, who have been loudly

proclaiming their hatred of Black people having

and using political power while demanding the

party stop “Identity politics” and figure out how to

reach “rural white males.”

Oh, they’re using dog whistles, but we hear them

very clearly.

The earned power Black people have in the party

has worn out its uneasy and insincere “welcome”

by those who are as uneasy at sharing power

with Black people as their relatives in the

Republican Party.

The joy and ebullience they’re expressing at

Kamala’s loss and how they’re using that to be

anti-Black is disgraceful but not surprising. They

pivoted so fast that they’re like Trump -acting as if

he won a mandate like Reagan when in fact it

was one of the closest races in 100 years with him

winning by little more than a point.

We knew the alliance was tepid and hanging on

by a chad. We knew in Obama’s first midterms,

Hillary’s loss, the backstabbing of Biden by Pelosi,

and now joining republicans in blaming the Black

woman for “waves hands” ... everything.

We see you. All of you. White men and women

haven’t voted majority democrat since the Civil

Rights laws passed in the 1960’s. The great hope

for the party remains the big tent. Closing it down

in favor of being republican-lite won’t work

because it will alienate Black voters – the actual

base of the party and stifle any hopes of

strengthening declining Latino/Hispanic voters.

We will see you at the 2026 midterms.

Black voters are identity politics, but white rural

white males are not. Uh-huh. We hear it loud and

clear.

Dear Dean Magazine | Dec. 22, 2024 | Page 17

It’ll be interesting to see how you beg us for

money/time after rejecting our input and

candidates.

Sometimes, when you’re at a crossroads, a door will open and what enters will inspire you.

Other times, what enters will make you gag. These stories by a ride-share short-timer might

have the same effect on you. A man, recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the

people he might meet (and the money he might make) decides to drive ride-share while

looking for a new professional management position.

Don’t want to drive drunk? Well, then, by all means, plug in your location and get your

friendly neighborhood ride-share driver to ferry you to your next bar. Need to move but

can’t afford movers? There’s an App for that! Tired of waiting for tricks on the corner? Wait

—I’ve got an idea. . .

The behavior and stories of folks who call on ride-share turned into a unique

anthropological study for one man who decided to drive ride-share while looking for a new

professional management position. Recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the

people he might meet (and the money he might make), the author unwittingly became the

anonymous confidant for men, women, nonbinary people, and children. Unfortunately for

him, he also became the innocent target of people who couldn’t hold their liquor, others

who couldn’t hold their temper, and at least one who couldn’t keep his hands to himself.

Little did they know they were in the Prius of a writer, who would be able to look in the rear

view and tell their stories.

This collection of anecdotes is non-judgmental, full of irony and dry humor, and may help

someone else decide: Is driving ride-share for you?

You can experience peace of mind knowing your song

promoted with just a few taps. Download the app now…

sayeYO’s in-app messaging and communication

features, built-in compression tool, analytics and

discovery page unite the music world in a way that

supports a music artist’s craft like no other — and

bridges the gap between music sharing on different

mobile devices, and challenges users face now in file

size, sharing, access and exposure peer to peer and with

fans.

All sayeYO users enjoy up to 2 free GB of storage for

music, photos, videos and links - and all files that can be

shared seamlessly using sayeYO's in-app messaging

features regardless of what kind of phone they have.

No phone plan? No problem! sayeYO works on WIFI only

anywhere in the world — no phone number required!

Life is hard enough - storing, sharing and playing your

music should be easy! We believe that the world is a

better place when people who make and share music

don’t have to worry about the challenges of technology

and can instead focus on their craft and new

connections.

Meet the Founder, Kevin Linney

My name is Kevin Linney, I also go by the name Crucial

Point. I have tons of friends that make music and we all

have the same issues regarding storage and sharing

our music. As an underground/independent Hip Hop

artist, I wanted to create a platform where we could

store and easily share our music with people around

the world.

Dear Dean Magazine | Dec. 22, 2024 | Page 29

Even as an amateur artist, I had close to 200 song files

sitting on Google Drive and DropBox, none of which

were being promoted or heard by anybody other than

myself. I needed a place where I could simply store my

song files and easily share them when I want and with

who I want.

I created the sayeYO app with music artists in mind. I

added features like the discover page, where artists can

share songs made public with other app users. In the

discover page users can play songs, like songs and click

on any shared links. Our in-app text messaging allows

users to share full-length songs, media files and much

more for improved communication and collaboration.

I also added a business directory so that sayeYO app

users can connect with people who offer services within

the music industry. Some of the categories include DJ’s,

record labels, mixing and mastering, music blogs/news,

podcast, marketing and promotions, management and

consulting, dancers and choreographers, plus much

much more.

The sayeYO app is truly one of a kind. It is not your

typical cloud storage app. I know there are millions of

song files sitting on various storage drives around the

world that have not been listened to in months or years.

I know from personal experience with my music that it

is easy for artists to create songs and not ever put them

out or promote them.

I want music artists to think differently about music and

audio storage. Songs don’t have to be stored and

forgotten about. Music artists can upload all their songs

to the sayeYO app and have a place to privately store

their music or share their music publicly with a global

audience.

Don't let your music files get lost in storage. Join

sayeYO and invite your music friends!

Monuments to the US War between the States romanticized the notion of the

Confederacy. While these monuments came down in the twenty-first century, it did not

signal the end to the romantic ideas people held about the war, nor the existence of

white supremacy. In the near future, Civil War reenactment events are still held, and,

other than fist fights and drunken brawls, have been mostly violence-free.Until

now. When Jenn’s employer is granted a contract at the country’s largest Civil War

reenactment, she and the other managers, Paul, Jack, Mari, and Clarence, have to make

some tough calls. Across the country, the event’s promoter and his main sponsor, a

popular evangelical preacher, make plans for an event no one will soon forget. Thrown

together, along with unlikely girlfriends, a doting congregant, and an unstable redneck,

the characters are in for a deadly day of monumental terror.

Netflix - Our Little Secret is a new Lindsey Lohan

Christmas-lite Christmas movie. It’s cutesy, has

plenty of silly plots involving misunderstandings,

unfaithful partners, and easy happy endings for

just about everyone. Easy to watch w/visiting

family.

Netflix: Subservience

Megan Fox as Android/AI nanny because lol. Why would someone build a “nanny” who looks like Megan

Fox and who can do all the sex functions? Men, that’s why. The good thing is like all Androids she goes

terminator and then the fun begins. This movie is sorta Megan’s revenge on Hollywood men who

mistreated her as a young star in Tinseltown.

A powerful YA debut set in a world where survival and magic are a deadly mix.

Coa, who was born feral in the North Transatlantic wilds, has just been captured. Now, Coa
