Editor’s Note

Happy New Year! Whether it’s the product of

cultural conditioning or just good, old fashioned

optimism, the new year always ushers in the

anticipation of fresh possibilities and opportunities

that are just waiting to be revealed. Tacking up a

fresh calendar is like cracking the spine of a book

about which you haven’t heard even one spoiler.

The holidays are a time of reflection. For some families, this can bring

about the realization that the school choices we’ve made may no longer

be the right fit. This is one of the reasons that many schools hold open

houses during the month of January. Take a look at this month’s guide

and see if there are any events that may be worth adding to your 2025

calendar. While you’re at it, don’t forget to add this year’s Summer Camp

Expo (4/5 at OMSI)! I hope that your family’s 2025 has started off on a

positive note and that there is only more joy to come as the year begins

to unfold.

Cheers,

Mary

Jewish values that emphasizes collaboration,

Maybe

by Moses

Maybe life gives you chances

Maybe life gives you lies

Maybe time gives you an end

Maybe you stay

Maybe nature gets revenge

Maybe it sings

Maybe night brings demons

Maybe the day will bring hope

Maybe you need time

Maybe you can be

Maybe now you live

Maybe now you die

Maybe just maybe…

Piper is a current seventh-grader at PJA. In

addition to writing, she enjoys poetry, reading,

This is Myth

by Piper

Tentacular, twisting tales filled with brave heroes and spiraling schemes

Gods and deities held strong in the beauty of the beholder

Inscrutable, childish variegations

This is myth

Great braves filled to the brim with excitement and fury

Ravaging frenzies of monsters and entities so strong they can destroy

you with their pinky fingers

Stories overflowing with passion and love

Fear and panic

Flashy, intricate heroes, indecipherable in their moral compass

Old, crinkled papers

Holding tales galore and myths everlasting in their splendor

This is a story

This is myth

Those who wander are not lost

Those who are lost do not wander

Everything has a reason

Everything is created to be how it is meant to be

You cannot change the path of fate

Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos

All have a reason

All have a path

Never stray from the path

Except perchance to wander

To dream

To imagine

To build

To destroy

These stories that we learn and teach

These stories that become our whole life

This is our destiny

This is myth
