For those of you visiting the Coachella Valley remember to stay

Hydrated always in the Summer Heat from June thru September where Temps can be

very extreme and dangerous which my lead to a Heat Stroke. Be safe always, stay

indoors, carry plenty of water with you in your car and remember the heat continues

up to 5pm and sometimes throughout the night before finally leveling off to its high

point for the day before slowly cooling down.

As all full timers who live in the Coachella Valley know get things done outside early

before 10am and stay hydrated always as mentioned.

Lifestyle changes can help lower high blood pressure and can help anyone

with hypertension. Many who make these changes will still need to take

medicine.

These lifestyle changes can help prevent and lower high blood pressure.

Do:

Eat more vegetables and fruits.

Sit less.

Be more physically active, which can include walking, running, swimming,

dancing or activities that build strength, like lifting weights.

Get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75

minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity.

Do strength building exercises 2 or more days each week.

Lose weight if you’re overweight or obese.

Take medicines as prescribed by your health care professional.

Keep appointments with your health care professional.

Don’t:

eat too much salty food (try to stay under 2 grams per day)

eat foods high in saturated or trans fats

smoke or use tobacco

drink too much alcohol (1 drink daily max for women, 2 for men)

miss or share medication.

Reducing hypertension prevents heart attack, stroke and kidney damage, as

well as other health problems.

Reduce the risks of hypertension by:

reducing and managing stress

regularly checking blood pressure

treating high blood pressure

managing other medical conditions

reducing exposure to polluted air.

Church of the Red Door

-From the Church Website

“Church at the Red Door opened its doors in November 2016, but its history has roots in over

20 years of ministry in the Coachella Valley. This growing community has been doing “kingdom

work” for many years together. Though the core of Church at the Red Door has participants both

new to the vision and old, it became obvious that God wanted something more formalized. There

were places to reach and people to engage, and many felt this could only be accomplished

through the launch of a larger gathering.

It’s not unfair to say that much - though certainly not all - of the Church at the Red Door

foundation came from the evolution of a small group that started gathering at La Quinta Country

Club over 15 years ago. That group, affectionately called The Living Room, met in the evenings

midweek in a private home and lasted about three years. Many came to know Jesus and

hundreds were baptized in the backyard pool. After a hiatus of a few years, the group

reconvened as The Red Door Community and moved from place to place as it grew. Each time

the growth pushed us into a new location, small talk seemed to suggest a church might be in the

future. The dream became a reality in November 2016.”

Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel since 1950

Desert Hot Springs is the only place in the world with both hot and cold mineral spring aquifers. Miracle

Springs Resort is justly famous for its natural hot spring mineral waters with their therapeutic, healing

properties. Our crystal clear waters rise at an average 140°F from underground lakes, called aquifers,

located about 300 feet down. This water is then cooled to temperatures ranging from 90°F to 104°F

and pumped at 200 gallons per minute into our eight pools and spas; perfect for swimming, soaking,

and relaxing.

Unlike many natural hot springs, the water here has a pleasant scent and tastes great! It is the finest

mineral spring water to be found anywhere, and regularly wins 1st and 2nd “Best Tasting Water in the

World” at the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition.

Discovered hundreds of years ago by the Cahuilla Indians, it was “rediscovered” in 1914 when pioneer

Cabot Yerxa unearthed the curative mineral waters on his land – a little over a mile from where

our hotel stands today. His first well produced crystal clear mineral water at 132°F and a second well

produced cool fresh drinking water, so he named the area Miracle Hill.

Throughout his life, Australian geologist and chemist, Dr. Augustus Broue traveled the world analyzing

hot spring mineral waters. In 1938, he visited Desert Hot Springs: “From the analysis of these waters, I

have not found the like of them in any country I have explored… It would appear to have qualities far

superior to any waters known to me.”

The Los Angeles Kings won their first Stanley Cup in 2012, defeating the New Jersey Devils

6-1 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Kings’ victory was notable because they were the

first eighth-seeded team in North American sports history to win a championship. The Kings

scored three goals in the first period when the Devils were short-handed due to a penalty, and

Dustin Brown, Jeff Carter, and Trevor Lewis all scored within four minutes.

The Kings have won two Stanley Cup titles in total, also winning in 2014. They have also won

three conference championships, in 1993, 2012, and 2014.
