INTRODUCTION
d o m is a work for violoncello, voice, and percussion that I wrote for the DUOroboros in
2020. Inspired by their project on ‘metal, wood, air,’ I interpreted it through the lenses of the
Via Crucis, which assumes these elemental references in a both physical and metaphysical
manner. The cross is a piece of wood perforated by metallic nails; the air is channeled
through Jesus’ voice both with semantic vocables and expressionist syllables.
After a comparative study of the four gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John, I selected
a few fragments for their visual power, developing a process of zooming in-and-out of the
Via Crucis narrative.
In Fall 2022, the recording of d o m was released by Ema-Vinci on all streaming platforms,
as part of the first album produced by DUOroboros.
