Dear Friends,We are profoundly appreciative of your ongoing support andgenerosity. Our work is made possible by people like you.Like previous years, 2024 presented serious challenges, includingescalating international conflicts, disease rates, and environmentalthreats. These crises underscore the importance of our work, andthey also present opportunities to reimagine our relationships witheach other, other beings, and our shared planet. At Phoenix Zones Initiative, we use our medical and public healthexpertise to improve the shared health and wellbeing of people, animals, and the planet, and to address the roots of globalproblems. Last year was no different, thanks to our team’s hardwork and the collaborative engagement of our partners. The year’shighlights included publications in major media outlets, the launchof a National Commission on Research Ethics, and leadership on theinternational stage. We also took the opportunity to revisit our ten-year strategic planand to re-evaluate how we can meaningfully scale up our work. Asa result, we are building an Institute for Universal Rights, Health &Justice, which will nurture a workforce equipped to simultaneouslyadvance human and nonhuman rights, health, and wellbeing. As we look to the future, we hope that you will join us in our continuedfight to end suffering and exploitation and to protect and uplift themost vulnerable. With the extraordinary kindness of our donors, weremain steadfast in our efforts to create a world of Phoenix Zones sothat everyone can thrive. In gratitude,Hope Ferdowsian, MD, MPHCo-founder and President3
