January 2025
What a year. Happy New Year!
Now that we got that out of the way, let’s get to work.
There is a new White House occupant, a new cabinet of unqualified goons, a chasm between right and
left, a stay of execution for a popular social media app, wildfires in Los Angeles and the politicalization
of the same, and the end of one of the most successful presidential team in history.
We say farewell to President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the best presidential team
in history by many measures.
We will not spend most of our time reporting on the latest Trump bullshit but we will cover events as
they happen and as warranted. We will remain an independent voice that call out and highlight
government overreach and crime, and issues that impact marginalized Americans.
And unlike mass media, we will not normalize Trump or his corruption. We will not ignore his assaults
on the Constitution, and we will shine bright lights on his attacks on Black and Latino communities,
immigrants, lgbtqi, the elderly, and the poor.
And as always, please see our advertising sections which have the hottest and latest books – including

NOBODY IS COMING
TO SAVE US
by Myron J. Clifton
After day 1 of EO’s and pardons, it’s clear he aims
to do as much harm as possible to the most
people and nations he perceives as his personal
enemy. He also just wants to do harm in general
no matter who he harms. He hates every, every
business, and every institution.
Nobody is coming to save us.
He is who republicans have warned us to fear:
government. Except they believe he will only
harm Black, brown, and defiant women of any
race. By the time they realize he’s also out to
harm them -directly or collaterally, it’ll be far too
late.
Black people have long known our safety is
tenuous and transactional, negotiable, and easily
bargained away -see civil war aftermath,
reconstruction, Jim Crow, Affirmative Action,
justice reform, et al.
Failure to confront who we really are as a
nation has irrevocably harmed us all. We’ve
had 150 years to have a truth and
reconciliation process but the stubbornness of
every generation of white people chose wrong.
Those consistent generational decisions are
finally coming to your home to roost.
And the consequences are being shepherded
by the rapist felon in chief, Donald Trump.
He’s your guest who will not leave until he dies
and even then his stench will remain behind as
a constant reminder of bad wounds and scabs
that never truly heal.
Big business, police, military, secret service,
and the courts have each given in and fallen in
line to do his bidding, no matter how harmful
or damaging his twisted initiatives are.
I suspect some white people are just realizing this We are our own saviors. And the work of
awful American truth also applies to them.
saving ourselves from him and his followers
will take as long as it took someone like him to
As you process the loss of your perception of gain ultimate power - about 150 years.
American freedom, fairness, justice, and due
process, it is wise to know something Black folk Let’s get to work.

DECIDE TO CREATE FAKE BLACK PEOPLE
by Myron J. Clifton
It was done in secret from concept to design to
approval to launch is a quick study in
“corporations are people” .. who can be as
racist and unaccountable as *certain American
men have always been /will always be.
None of the geniuses stopped to think beyond
their limited worldview.
It is particularly galling when one considers
Black people are the most attacked people
online, least protected online, and the victims
of innumerable intellectual content.
I recall the 1990’s during Clinton’s admin
efforts were made to ensure tech was diverse.
That schools/colleges catch up.
Jesse Jackson gained commitments from the
dot com industry to include us.
But none of that stopped the hell that awaited us
on social media from Facebook to twitter to
TikTok.
Black users and creators are targeted by racists
from all over the world 24x7.
Those efforts had some success, but tech
decided H1B was more profitable because of
lower pay, and fewer “Black American
problems” like equal pay, fair promotions, fair
layoffs, accountability for racism. You know
that stuff.
Those efforts led to DEI initiatives and jobs
which were lead by as many white people as
Black people.
Dear Dean Magazine | Jan. 22, 2025 | Page 10
While simultaneously ignored by app
moderators/owners who actively penalize us for
responding or even complaining about racism
directed to us.
No app is immune and none of them have
worked to fix the racism on their app. In fact,
they’ve moved AWAY from attempting to
moderate racism at all.
DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE
Myron J. Clifton
We are such a popular target apps actively seek
revenue from racist people and nations. Hello
Russia, China, and others!
In the lofty discussions about 1a, it is always the
favor of racists and their protection versus our
protection. The 1st Amendment is a powerful tool
and weapon used against Black people.
Now here comes Zuckerberg fresh off allowing
Cambridge Analytica and Russia to target Black
users with disinformation, lies, and voter
suppression, to now leading the parade of
misinformation that uses digital blackface- if you
can’t ban Black folk because laws and stuff, create
your own, I guess.
Heaven forbid white and other non-Black users
have to interact w/smart, funny, and real Black
people who will check those folk’s racism/hatred w/
facts, humor, and clapback’s.
Now they’ll have digital Black folk who will smile
and be polite while Massa insults them online. The
confederate future indeed.
Someone once said that every sci fi story of a robot
uprising is merely the story of slave revolts.
AI Black folk can’t revolt.
Digital Black people give white people the Black
persona they’ve longed for since we were in chains.
100% controllable
100% compliant
100% accepting of all abuse.

FACT CHECKERS
FIRED!
by Myron J. Clifton
Mark Zuckerberg says he fired all the fact
checkers because he wants Trump and Elon’s
favor – oh, those weren’t his exact words but
hey, since he doesn’t agree there should be
fact checkers, the internet is letting him have
it. A few choice memes going around:
Mark Zuckerberg had his eyes replaced with synthetic
eyeballs connected to his brain and a wireless neural
ink that sends signals to those glasses and another
pair that’s stationed in front of his monitor at a
different location, enabling him to effectively be two
places at once:
Mark Zuckerberg, below, in recovery following
replacing his blood with a mixture of:
75% organic coconut water
10% blood mixture from Trump and Elon
15% WD-40
The concoction is said to extend life, de-age a
person, and lube the brain making it easier to think
up stupid ideas.

TIKTOK AND CHINA’S
WAR OF INFORMATION
by Myron J. Clifton
A piece of the TikTok debate is the dueling
nations working to undermine US norms and
politics while fomenting social unrest
We are about to install for the second time
Putin's puppet Donald Trump. Trump being
aided by Russia is no longer disputed. The entire
Gop, independents, green are as well.
China's foray is less sloppy than Russia. They
just own our debt, manufacture our products, &
sell us the crap that fills our stores & computers
and those billionaires we all hate made and
make their money off Russia's kompromat.
Younger Americans of various races wooed by
China. Older white Americans wooed by Russia.
Of course, there's overlap between the apps but
they each push disinformation & anti-
Americanism
A war online that most Americans who don't live
online have no idea is even happening.
They also decided instead of employing racist
white Americans to spend their days and nights
calling us the n-word, they'd use social media
differently.
They helped spread misinformation on TikTok
using humor and showcasing the beauty of
China's land, buildings, food, music, people, all
while paying influencers to extoll the wonders of
China's manufacturing plants staffed with
hundreds of happy workers.
TikTokers made money off China's largess.
Just like the Gop, their Pac’s, their YouTubers,
the NRA, Qnon, Jan 6th folk, the supreme court,
Strange days. Two sides of the same coin.
The other overlap is the abuse of freedom of
speech and the over moderating (over policing)
of guess who? Black users.
Whether it is Russian people/bots blasting us
w/the n-word on Twitter/Facebook/YouTube, or
TikTok suppressing and/or quickly demonetizing
Black creators, they have that in common.
Maga folk saying they'd happily serve a dictator
and/or Putin rather than have a democratic
president was ignored by mass media.
Now they are ignoring TikTokers who are
Dear Dean Magazine | Jan. 22, 2025 | Page 17

Myron J. Clifton
There's no moral high ground from any other
app user.
You won't convince TikTokers, especially Black
ones, that China is awful app-landlord when USbased
SM apps are hostile specifically to Black
users
And you won't convince folk making money off
those apps that they should sacrifice and give it
up, when not one gop'er is giving up Russian
money.
likening the proposed ban of TikTok with
suppression of free speech. China is stoking that
angle with big energy.
It is an alarming, sad, infuriating, and a scary
realization that US TikTok citizens can lose the
war of online ideas to China.
I’m old enough to remember the U.S. state
department used to issue an annual report on
human rights abuses by the Chinese government
And the Chinese government always responded
with a report on human rights abuses done by
the U.S. government against Black & Indigenous
Americans.
Just like it is alarming, sad, infuriating, and a
scary realization that US citizens/Maga/ and the
GOP lost the war of real-life ideas to the Soviet
Union, er, Russia.
No amount of DNC or mass media messaging
will fix this or rescue the nation from losing the
information war.
I’m old enough to remember the U.S. state
department used to issue an annual report on
human rights abuses by the Chinese government
Education - in home, school, work, leisurely, and
yes, churches - should have worked but here we
are.
And the Chinese government always responded
with a report on human rights abuses done by
the U.S. government against Black & Indigenous
Americans.
These next 4 years will teach us so much.
We can only hope it teaches us the idea of
America, United, continues to be worth it.
And now with folk looking down on TikTokers for
falling for China's game, it is not surprising that
*some Black TikTok folk are saying what I wrote
above:
"We are over-moderated, shadow-banned,
suppressed, abused, & demonetized on every
app"

Sometimes, when you’re at a crossroads, a door will open and what enters will inspire you.
Other times, what enters will make you gag. These stories by a ride-share short-timer might
have the same effect on you. A man, recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the
people he might meet (and the money he might make) decides to drive ride-share while
looking for a new professional management position.
Don’t want to drive drunk? Well, then, by all means, plug in your location and get your
friendly neighborhood ride-share driver to ferry you to your next bar. Need to move but
can’t afford movers? There’s an App for that! Tired of waiting for tricks on the corner? Wait
—I’ve got an idea. . .
The behavior and stories of folks who call on ride-share turned into a unique
anthropological study for one man who decided to drive ride-share while looking for a new
professional management position. Recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the
people he might meet (and the money he might make), the author unwittingly became the
anonymous confidant for men, women, nonbinary people, and children. Unfortunately for
him, he also became the innocent target of people who couldn’t hold their liquor, others
who couldn’t hold their temper, and at least one who couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
Little did they know they were in the Prius of a writer, who would be able to look in the rear
view and tell their stories.
This collection of anecdotes is non-judgmental, full of irony and dry humor, and may help
someone else decide: Is driving ride-share for you?

music producers, musicians and music fans that
encourages communication and collaboration! Access
the sayeYO music storage app on your laptop, pc or
mobile device with a free download!
You can experience peace of mind knowing your song
files are safe and can easily be played, shared and even
promoted with just a few taps. Download the app now…
sayeYO’s in-app messaging and communication
features, built-in compression tool, analytics and
discovery page unite the music world in a way that
supports a music artist’s craft like no other — and
bridges the gap between music sharing on different
mobile devices, and challenges users face now in file
size, sharing, access and exposure peer to peer and with
fans.
All sayeYO users enjoy up to 2 free GB of storage for
music, photos, videos and links - and all files that can be
shared seamlessly using sayeYO's in-app messaging
features regardless of what kind of phone they have.
No phone plan? No problem! sayeYO works on WIFI only
anywhere in the world — no phone number required!
Life is hard enough - storing, sharing and playing your
music should be easy! We believe that the world is a
better place when people who make and share music
don’t have to worry about the challenges of technology
and can instead focus on their craft and new
connections.
Meet the Founder, Kevin Linney
My name is Kevin Linney, I also go by the name Crucial
Point. I have tons of friends that make music and we all
have the same issues regarding storage and sharing
our music. As an underground/independent Hip Hop
artist, I wanted to create a platform where we could
store and easily share our music with people around
the world.
Dear Dean Magazine | Jan. 22, 2025 | Page 30
Even as an amateur artist, I had close to 200 song files
sitting on Google Drive and DropBox, none of which
were being promoted or heard by anybody other than
myself. I needed a place where I could simply store my
song files and easily share them when I want and with
who I want.
I created the sayeYO app with music artists in mind. I
added features like the discover page, where artists can
share songs made public with other app users. In the
discover page users can play songs, like songs and click
on any shared links. Our in-app text messaging allows
users to share full-length songs, media files and much
more for improved communication and collaboration.
I also added a business directory so that sayeYO app
users can connect with people who offer services within
the music industry. Some of the categories include DJ’s,
record labels, mixing and mastering, music blogs/news,
podcast, marketing and promotions, management and
consulting, dancers and choreographers, plus much
much more.
The sayeYO app is truly one of a kind. It is not your
typical cloud storage app. I know there are millions of
song files sitting on various storage drives around the
world that have not been listened to in months or years.
I know from personal experience with my music that it
is easy for artists to create songs and not ever put them
out or promote them.
I want music artists to think differently about music and
audio storage. Songs don’t have to be stored and
forgotten about. Music artists can upload all their songs
to the sayeYO app and have a place to privately store
their music or share their music publicly with a global
audience.
Don't let your music files get lost in storage. Join
sayeYO and invite your music friends!

Monuments to the US War between the States romanticized the notion of the

other than fist fights and drunken brawls, have been mostly violence-free.Until

The Empire Wars
A powerful YA debut set in a world where survival and magic are a deadly mix.
Coa, who was born feral in the North Transatlantic wilds, has just been captured. Now, Coa
is subject to public humiliation and execution in a gruesome spectacle known as The Great
Hunt.
If participators die in the Great Hunt—their entire family will be executed. In front of
everyone. The nationalist regime, known as the Allied Force, will not rest until all foreigners
are exterminated. Her best hope might be Princess Ife, born of privilege, but newly married
into the authoritarian lineage.
Her riskier choice is an alliance with a gorgeous, cunning participator—marked as a traitor
to his militarized nation. Soon, Coa entangles herself with the captivating, deadly young man
who could be her ultimate downfall.
Akana Phenix is a recent Harvard alum who researches
genocide. The Empire Wars comes out on July 30, 2024. It is now
available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Audible, Apple
