WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ANNUAL

MEETING 2021

THE 51ST WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD

ON THE THEME “THE GREAT RESET” REPRESENTING A COMMITMENT

TO JOINTLY AND URGENTLY BUILD THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE GLOBAL

ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SYSTEM FOR A MORE FAIR, SUSTAINABLE AND

RESILIENT FUTURE.

The Meeting will be organized in a “twin” format, being both in-person

and virtual, connecting key global governmental and business leaders in

Davos with a global multi-stakeholder network in 400 cities around the

world for a forward-oriented dialogue driven by the younger generation.

5 | P a g e

THE GREAT RESET: A UNIQUE TWIN SUMMIT

TO BEGIN 2021

1. “THE GREAT RESET” will be the theme of a unique twin summit in

January 2021, convened by the World Economic Forum.

2. “The Great Reset” is a commitment to jointly and urgently build the

foundations of our economic and social system for a more fair,

sustainable and resilient future.

3. It requires a new social contract centred on human dignity, social

justice and where societal progress does not fall behind economic

development.

4. The global health crisis has laid bare longstanding ruptures in our

economies and societies, and created a social crisis that urgently

requires decent, meaningful jobs.

5. The twin summit will be both in-person and virtual, connecting key

global governmental and business leaders in Davos with a global

multistakeholder network in 400 cities around the world for a forwardoriented

dialogue driven by the younger generation.

6. The announcement of the Great Reset is made by HRH The Prince of

Wales and Klaus Schwab during a virtual meeting today at 14:30

Geneva, Switzerland, 3 June 2020 – “THE GREAT RESET” will be the

theme of a unique twin summit to be convened by the World Economic

Forum in January 2021. The 51st World Economic Forum Annual Meeting

will bring together global leaders from government, business and civil

6 | P a g e

society, and stakeholders from around the world in a unique

configuration that includes both in-person and virtual dialogues.

“WE ONLY HAVE ONE PLANET AND WE KNOW THAT CLIMATE CHANGE

COULD BE THE NEXT GLOBAL DISASTER WITH EVEN MORE DRAMATIC

CONSEQUENCES FOR HUMANKIND. WE HAVE TO DECARBONIZE THE

ECONOMY IN THE SHORT WINDOW STILL REMAINING AND BRING OUR

THINKING AND BEHAVIOUR ONCE MORE INTO HARMONY WITH

NATURE,” SAID KLAUS SCHWAB, FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM.

“In order to secure our future and to prosper, we need to evolve our

economic model and put people and planet at the heart of global value

creation. If there is one critical lesson to learn from this crisis, it is that

we need to put nature at the heart of how we operate. We simply can’t

waste more time,” said HRH The Prince of Wales.

“THE GREAT RESET is a welcome recognition that this human tragedy

must be a wake-up call. We must build more equal, inclusive and

sustainable economies and societies that are more resilient in the face

of pandemics, climate change and the many other global changes we

face,” said António Guterres, Secretary-General, United Nations, New

York.

“A GREAT RESET is necessary to build a new social contract that honours

the dignity of every human being,” added Schwab “The global health

crisis has laid bare the unsustainability of our old system in terms of

social cohesion, the lack of equal opportunities and inclusiveness.

“COVID-19 HAS ACCELERATED OUR TRANSITION INTO THE AGE OF THE

FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. We have to make sure that the new

technologies in the DIGITAL, BIOLOGICAL and PHYSICAL world remain

7 | P a g e

human-centred and serve society as a whole, providing everyone with

fair access,” he said.

“This global pandemic has also demonstrated again how interconnected

we are. We have to restore a functioning system of smart global

cooperation structured to address the challenges of the next 50 years.

THE GREAT RESET will require us to integrate all stakeholders of global

society into a community of common interest, purpose and action,” said

Schwab. “We need a change of mindset, moving from short-term to longterm

thinking, moving from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder

responsibility. Environmental, social and good governance have to be a

measured part of corporate and governmental accountability,” he

added.

This innovative summit will be a very different Annual Meeting,

reflecting the spirit of THE GREAT RESET. It will provide a unique

opportunity at the beginning of 2021 to bring together the key global

government and business leaders in Davos, yet framed within a global

multistakeholder summit driven by the younger generation to ensure

that THE GREAT RESET dialogue pushes beyond the boundaries of

traditional thinking and is truly forward-oriented.

The announcement of THE GREAT RESET was made by HRH The Prince

of Wales and Professor Schwab during a virtual meeting, followed by

statements by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and IMF

Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

In the run-up to the Annual Meeting, the Forum will host a virtual series,

THE GREAT RESET DIALOGUES. THESE DIALOGUES ARE A JOINT

INITIATIVE OF THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM AND HRH THE PRINCE

OF WALES.

WEF LEADER URGES COUNTRIES TO ‘PAY

CLOSE ATTENTION’ TO DIGITAL CURRENCY

Updated 03 August 2021 One Carlo Diaz & Rayana Alqubali August 03,

202122:25

DUBAI: DIGITAL CURRENCY IS GOING TO PLAY A BIG ROLE IN THE

GLOBAL ECONOMY, A WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM (WEF) COMMITTEE

LEADER SAID, AND NATIONS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO ITS

UNPRECEDENTED PROGRESS.

“Somebody needs to be paying close attention to this space, and

assessing on a weekly basis, what the national policy ought to be

9 | P a g e

regarding digital currencies,” Sheila Warren, DEPUTY HEAD OF THE

CENTRE FOR THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (C4IR)

COMMITTEE OF WEF, told Arab News. DIGITAL CURRENCY WILL

CONTINUE TO EVOLVE, she said, adding some nations have already

started investigating its effect on their own economies.

“We’re going to see a variety of offerings in the digital currency space —

central bank digital currency, stable coin issuances, and cryptocurrencies

including Bitcoin,” Warren explained.

According to Atlantic Council, which tracks central banks’ participation in

the space, 81 COUNTRIES HAVE ALREADY EXPLORED A DIGITAL

CURRENCY WITH CHINA LEADING THE PACK.

The Asian superpower recently announced it will allow foreign visitors to

use digital yuan in the upcoming Winter Olympics. Other major central

banks in the race are the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank,

the Bank of Japan, and the Bank of England.

In the Gulf, SAUDI ARABIA and the UAE previously said they were

WORKING ON A DIGITAL CURRENCY PLAN — THEY CALLED THE

INITIATIVE “PROJECT ABER.” The two countries aim to develop a crossborder

payment system that will reduce transfer times and costs

between banks.

Although every nation doesn’t necessarily have to “immediately jump

in,” Warren said it is important to watch the evolution of the industry.

“If you're not doing that, you're going to be stuck, I think, with whatever

the world decides, the direction of travel is going to be, and not have

enough opportunity to help shape that,” she explained. On decentralized

cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, Warren said it will continue to have

a huge role in the global economy as well.

economic reform plans, saying achievements have come “within the

framework of rapid transformation and reforms in the past four years,

and that those reforms will double in the next ten years.”

Crown Prince Mohammed “also stressed the role played by the Kingdom

in the framework of promoting development, supporting the stability of

the region, and preserving the energy supply market, stressing the

continuation of that role in the interest of the region, ESTABLISHING

SECURITY AND PEACE and enhancing economic cooperation,”

the SPA said.

SAUDI ARABIA ANNOUNCES TWO NEW MEGA-

DEVELOPMENT PLANS IN A WEEK

Saudi Arabia is full steam ahead with ambitious, large-scale new

developments in the Kingdom, with two new projects announced this

week alone.

Earlier this week, SAUDI ARABIA’S CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED

BIN SALMAN ANNOUNCED THE FIRST EVER “NON-PROFIT CITY,” AN

ENTIRELY NEW DEVELOPMENT JUST OUTSIDE OF THE CAPITAL RIYADH

WHICH WILL BE BUILT AS “A MODEL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE

NON-PROFIT SECTOR GLOBALLY AND AN INCUBATOR FOR YOUTH AND

VOLUNTEER GROUPS AS WELL AS LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL NON-

PROFIT INSTITUTIONS,” the Saudi Press Agency.

THE AMBITIOUS PROJECT, CALLED THE PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN

SALMAN NON-PROFIT CITY, will be built on a 3.4 square kilometer (1.3

square mile) plot of land donated by the Crown Prince.

13 | P a g e

Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Non Profit City.

“THIS WILL BE THE FIRST NON-PROFIT CITY OF ITS KIND WHICH WILL

CONTRIBUTE TO ACHIEVING THE GOALS OF THE MOHAMMED

BIN SALMAN MISK FOUNDATION IN SUPPORTING INNOVATION,

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND QUALIFYING FUTURE LEADERS BY DEFINING

NON-PROFIT WORK IN ITS INTERNAL OPERATIONAL CONCEPT AND IN

TERMS OF OPPORTUNITIES AND YOUTH TRAINING PROGRAMS IT WILL

PROVIDE,” THE CROWN PRINCE SAID in a statement carried by the

official state press outlet, the SPA.

“In addition, the project will provide services that contribute to creating

an attractive environment for all beneficiaries of the city’s offerings.”

The Crown Prince added that the new city will include “academies,

colleges, ‘Misk Schools’, a conference center, a science museum, a

creative centre offering a space to support the ambitions of innovators

in sciences and NEW GENERATION TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS AI, IOT AND

ROBOTICS.

14 | P a g e

The focus of the new MBS city will be youth and the future, according to

the announcement. Details surrounding development phases and

progress of PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN NON-PROFIT CITY will

be announced in the coming months, authorities said.

The non-profit city’s announcement didn’t have a long run as the most

recently-announced mega-project in Saudi Arabia. Just three days

later, SAUDI ARABIA ANNOUNCED A NEW, VISUALLY-STUNNING

MAJOR DEVELOPMENT ADDITION TO NEOM, WHICH ITSELF IS A NEW

CITY AT WHICH CONSTRUCTION RECENTLY BEGAN ON SAUDI ARABIA’S

RED SEA COAST.

CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN ANNOUNCED ON

WEDNESDAY THE ESTABLISHMENT OF OXAGON, A FLOATING

MANUFACTURING DEVELOPMENT WHICH WILL FORM THE NEXT PHASE

OF NEOM’S MASTER PLAN AND REPRESENT “A RADICAL NEW MODEL

FOR FUTURE MANUFACTURING CENTERS, BASED ON NEOM’S

STRATEGIES OF REDEFINING THE WAY HUMANITY LIVES AND WORKS

IN THE FUTURE,” according to a press release.

“OXAGON WILL BE THE CATALYST FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH AND

DIVERSITY IN NEOM AND THE KINGDOM, FURTHER MEETING OUR

AMBITIONS under VISION 2030,” the Crown Prince said. “OXAGON will

contribute to redefining the world’s approach to industrial development

in the future, protecting the environment while creating jobs and growth

for NEOM.

IT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO SAUDI ARABIA’S REGIONAL TRADE AND

COMMERCE, AND SUPPORT CREATING A NEW FOCAL POINT FOR

GLOBAL TRADE FLOWS. I AM PLEASED TO SEE THAT BUSINESS AND

DEVELOPMENT HAVE STARTED ON THE GROUND AND WE LOOK

FORWARD TO THE CITY’S RAPID EXPANSION.”

Comprising a large area in the southwest corner of NEOM, the core

urban environment is centered around THE INTEGRATED PORT AND

LOGISTICS HUB that will house the majority of the city’s anticipated

residents. The unique octagonal design minimizes impact on

the environment and provides optimal land usage, with the remainder

open to preserve 95% of the natural environment. A defining feature of

the city is the world’s largest floating structure, which will become a

center for NEOM’S BLUE ECONOMY and achieve sustainable growth,

authorities said.

FII’S 4TH EDITION CLOSES AFTER VISIONARY

DISCUSSION WITH HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS

CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN

Published January 28, 2021

Riyadh, January 29, 2021: The Fourth Edition of the Future Investment

Initiative (FII) closed yesterday after an exceptional day of prominent

speakers — including HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS CROWN PRINCE

MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN — WHO DISCUSSED URBAN DEVELOPMENT

AND ADVANCES IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

• His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Al Saud sat down for

an exclusive conversation with Senator Matteo Renzi , the former Prime

Minister of Italy, to unveil his VISION 2030 FOR RIYADH, including

expanding the capital’s population to 15-20 million people and making it

one of the ten largest city economies in the world.

19 | P a g e

• His Royal Highness said: ‘’True growth begins in the city, whether in

terms of industry, innovation, education, services, or other sectors. I

have no doubt that the world economies are not based on nations, but

on cities.’’

• HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also said that a second

listing of Saudi Aramco could happen as part of its plans to raise funds

for its sovereign-wealth fund. This will yield a cash flow transferred to

the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to be reinvested domestically and

internationally to be benefit Saudi citizens, he said.

• More than 4 million people watched online as speakers provided their

insight into HOW THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY CAN WORK TOGETHER TO

BRING ABOUT A NEO-RENAISSANCE AND FUEL A REBIRTH. This

pandemic showed the real urgency to move beyond the status quo and

cooperate to create a positive impact on humanity.

• Conversations focused on how to enhance the end-to-end consumer

journey through innovative tech solutions and digitisation. The plenary

sessions focused on how the pandemic has accelerated the pace of

change in frontier technologies. As Bitcoin prices hit an all-time high this

month, traditional players discussed how to grapple with the challenges

of integrating fintech into their business models.

• H.R.H. Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud hosted a panel

on redefining leadership for the post Covid-era. The Honorable Kevin

Rudd, 26th Prime Minister of Australia, opened the second day to discuss

how world leaders can realize the mandates of the 2020 G20.

• “The G20 represents 90% of the global economy, 80% of global trade

and 2/3 of the world’s population,’’ Rudd said. ‘’In past history, it was the

mechanism through which the global economy was rescued from

20 | P a g e

depression. The machinery available remains critical for the future as

well.”

• The FII Institute signed Memorandums of Understanding to drive the

not-for-profit foundation’s mission forward, including with Tadawul to

cooperate on Environmental, Social and Governance and with KAUST to

cooperate on research and events that facilitate access to science. The

Institute also signed a letter of intent with the African Continental Free

Trade Area and Origin. All to develop a technology to protect nations

from counterfeit and illicitly traded products.

• In the closing session, The Road Ahead, COO of the Future Investment

Initiative Institute, Rakan Tarabzoni said: “What we delivered over the

past two days was by far setting the stage for a new redefined way of

delivering events, despite what happened in 2020 and despite COVID-19.

We felt that the world needs to come together to discuss how the world

can move forward. The pandemic is not going to disappear tomorrow, so

we needed to get everyone around one table to discuss the world and

the business post COVID-19. And the table is here. This is FII.”

THE “DAVOS IN THE DESERT,” AS THE ANNUAL FUTURE INVESTMENT

INITIATIVE IS KNOWN, STARTED IN 2017. THIS IS THE FOURTH

INSTALLMENT OF THE EVENT.

“There are some grounds for optimism about the investment climate in

the region as a whole,” writes Karen DeYoung in an analysis

for Bloomberg. “DIPLOMATIC BREAKTHROUGHS BETWEEN ARAB

STATES AND ISRAEL, and the end of the embargo on Qatar, have made

the Arabian Peninsula more hospitable to foreign investment. Capital

flows between the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, with their

formidable respective sovereign wealth funds, carry the promise of

mutual benefit.”

The last two years have been extraordinary, and humanity was put to the

test. We collectively realized that our lives are interconnected as

globalization transported the Covid-19 disease around the world very

quickly. The scale of the pandemic is a direct consequence of

international trade, with the virus spreading along established routes.

Over the past decades, we neglected the dramatic impacts our

commercial activities were causing to the environment.

The human pressure on the biosphere explains the strong increase in

epidemic outbreaks since the 20th century. Most emerging infectious

diseases are indeed "zoonoses," diseases transmitted by animals to

humans due to the over-penetration of humans into preserved natural

spaces. When the Covid-19 crisis began we did not have the right means

to address it, both in terms of prevention and treatment.

Major pandemics crises that would affect the whole planet had been

predicted decades before and experts around the globe warned of their

potential consequences. However, not enough was done to prepare for

such threats. The pandemic provided some perspective on the past, and

24 | P a g e

we realized that while we were focused on maximizing profits, we

overlooked the clear need to protect society.

Therefore, we must now steer knowledge and technology toward good,

especially in terms of environmental protection, to ultimately secure our

well-being and that of future generations.

FII INSTITUTE IS A NEW GLOBAL NONPROFIT FOUNDATION WITH AN

INVESTMENT ARM AND ONE AGENDA: IMPACT ON HUMANITY.

GLOBAL, INCLUSIVE, AND COMMITTED TO ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL

AND GOVERNANCE (ESG) PRINCIPLES, we foster great minds from

around the world and turn ideas into real world solutions in our FIVE

CRITICAL AREAS:

AI AND ROBOTICS, EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE and SUSTAINABILITY.

Concretely, we accompany each of the promising ideas from ideation to

realization by providing the necessary support to overcome major

inhibitors that would have otherwise limited the ideas' chances of

becoming reality. We are in the right place at the right time: when

decision makers, investors and an engaged generation of youth come

together in aspiration, energized and ready for change.

AI helps machines process and gain insights from large amounts of data

that would be overwhelming to the human brain, identifying patterns

that lead to a wider range of solutions. It can help find ways to break

through technical bottlenecks to many of humanity's most pressing

challenges. In that sense, AI is a revolutionary tool that will help us

address many of the key issues of the next decades, if it is used to serve

humanity.

Robotics is a major tool for modernizing our societies and impacting on

humanity. A key enabler of efficient, high-quality automation, robotics

can, for instance, play a fundamental role in a productive zero-carbon

25 | P a g e

economy. At FII Institute, we aim to actively seek out, support and

leverage beneficial applications of robotics to achieve our objectives of

equitable access to healthcare, education, and global food security.

Meanwhile, we also seek to promote a balance between robotization

and human employment; such a balance is a key element to consider for

the future of humanity.

Culture, knowledge, and skills are humanity's greatest renewable

resources for responding to global challenges. Education is also, and

above all, a fundamental right in the Universal Declaration of Human

Rights. It enables people to discover themselves, live decently, and grasp

opportunities.

FII Institute supports educational technologies that will help develop the

next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and global citizens.

Providing access to quality education for all, and addressing gender

inequality in education, are planting the seeds of tomorrow's solutions.

With those goals in mind, we seek to find innovative ways to increase

access to education and enable all people to reach their full potential, by

promoting both digital tools and new pedagogical methods.

The unprecedented health crisis that the world faced in 2020 and is still

facing today reminds us of the crucial importance of healthcare for the

future of humanity.

AT FII INSTITUTE, WE ARE DISRUPTING THE TRADITIONAL HEALTHCARE

AND LIFE-SCIENCES INDUSTRY BY LEVERAGING NEW APPLICATIONS OF

TECHNOLOGY AND RESEARCH WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF IMPROVING

ACCESS – ESPECIALLY IN EMERGING MARKETS.

26 | P a g e

We also address the spread and prevalence of communicable and

noncommunicable diseases. We seek to advance topics as diverse as

digital health, medical devices, mobile clinics, and more. We want to

make stakeholders aware that they all have a major role to play for the

health of all.

Society is facing a tremendous climate challenge, and the consequences

are already well observable. In this context, WE ARE TRULY COMMITTED

TO MAKING OUR CONTRIBUTION IN SECURING A ZERO-CARBON-

FOOTPRINT GLOBAL SOCIETY. TO THAT AIM, WE WORK TO SUPPORT

AND DEPLOY DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE

GAS EMISSIONS.

27 | P a g e

We also gather the best minds to find ways to make better use of

resources, to promote new production, consumption, and logistics

patterns - notably to build healthier and more sustainable food supply

chains - and to develop alternative energy sources. We want to increase

our reach towards communities, to help them manage the effects of

climate change and enhance their resilience. Sustainability is a broad

theme, with multiple areas of interest for us: energy efficiency, carbon

capture, new materials, etc.

In each of these areas, we seek to promote the principles of ESG, and to

raise awareness on climate change issues as well as on the concrete

solutions to limit global warming and the loss of biodiversity. These five

priority areas are diverse but complementary in a way that is often

underestimated by decision makers.

To turn ideas into real-world solutions for the benefit of humanity, we

harness our energy and that of our numerous partners into THREE

PILLARS – THINK, XCHANGE, ACT. Together, they make up a strong and

ambitious ecosystem to curate and enable ideas to achieve our vision.

FII Institute is a new global nonprofit foundation with an investment arm

and one agenda: IMPACT ON HUMANITY. THINK At the intersection of

HUMAN NEED, TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION and ECONOMIC

VIABILITY lie the answers that will shape a better world for all. Led by

experts and overseen by academia, FII Institute's THINK Labs are meant

to empower the world's brightest minds to identify technological

solutions to the most pressing issues facing humanity.

To that aim, we identify societal challenges and current inhibitors, and

curate the disruptive ideas to address those issues. We do this by

collaborating with high-caliber partners, building momentum towards

change, and pursuing thought leadership in service of humanity.

28 | P a g e

XCHANGE All things are possible when thought leaders and changemakers

come face to face.

FII INSTITUTE'S XCHANGE PILLAR IS ROOTED IN THE NEED FOR GLOBAL

COLLABORATION TO CREATE GLOBAL GOOD. Here, we build inclusive

platforms for international dialogue on the future of humanity,

knowledge sharing and partnership. XCHANGE brings together experts,

innovators, leaders, and investors to collaborate towards change and a

better future for all.

ACT is the investment arm of FII Institute. It enables us to invest directly

in the technologies of the future to secure sustainable real-world

solutions, by mobilizing partners and resources. Committed to ESG

principles, we want to ensure that leading innovations make it out of the

lab and into the market.

By proactively developing pipelines in our FIVE FOCUS AREAS -AI AND

ROBOTICS, EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE AND SUSTAINABILITY – we

identify best-of-breed start-ups vetted by our experts and invest directly

in the technologies of the future. These three pillars give us a unique

blend of differentiators: We set new standards for doing instead of

thinking alone. We create both short-term impact and long-term

platforms for change. We solve today’s issues, while shaping the future

of humanity. We nurture great ideas through active follow-up. We drive

true collaboration between partners and stakeholders.

Part of our mission is the necessity to lead by example. That is why, as a

responsible entity, we aim to manage our environmental and social

footprints and improve our ESG performance year after year.

BLOOMBERG REPORT: SAUDI ARABIA

CONTINUES TO COMBAT PANDEMIC WITH

‘WORLD’S TOUGHEST RULES’

Since the start of the global pandemic last year, Saudi Arabia’s

NOW THAT VACCINES ARE WIDELY AVAILABLE IN SAUDI ARABIA, IT

SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE THAT SAUDI AUTHORITIES ARE

PULLING OUT ALL THE STOPS TO GET EVERY CITIZEN AND RESIDENT

VACCINATED AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS SO THAT LIFE CAN RETURN

TO NORMAL – and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic and social

reform plans can continue.

Bloomberg reports that SAUDI ARABIA’S CARROT-AND-STICK

SAUDI REACHES KEY 70% VACCINATION

MILESTONE, BUT NEW CASES REACH 10-

MONTH HIGH

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health (MoH) on Wednesday said it has

administered more than 16.8 million vaccine doses covering 70 percent

of the total adult population in Saudi Arabia, a key milestone as the

Kingdom progresses toward a full recovery from the pandemic,

according to the Saudi Gazette.

The positive news for Saudi officials comes as the KINGDOM’S

NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE FOR INFECTIOUS DISEASES HAS

ALSO GIVEN ITS APPROVAL FOR USING DIFFERENT COVID-19 VACCINES

FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND DOSE, the MOH said in a statement on its

Twitter account on Wednesday.

34 | P a g e

35 | P a g e

Saudi Arabia has so far administered more than 16.8 million vaccine

doses through 587 vaccination centers across the Kingdom, covering 70

percent of the total adult population in Saudi Arabia.

Despite successes in administering the vaccine, and providing both

carrots for those who get jabs and sticks for those who have not, THOSE

IN SAUDI ARABIA WHO ARE REFUSING TO GET VACCINATED POSE A

CHALLENGE. THIS MONTH, ONLY VACCINATED OR IMMUNIZED

CITIZENS WERE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL ABROAD after the kingdom lifted

a ban on overseas trips introduced last year at the start of the pandemic,

and starting in August, VACCINATIONS WILL BE MANDATORY TO ENTER

GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE ESTABLISHMENTS, INCLUDING

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND ENTERTAINMENT VENUES, AS WELL

AS TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT.

36 | P a g e

SAUDI ARABIA’S MOH, in announcing the latest figures, “ONCE AGAIN

SOUGHT TO DISPEL ALL RUMORS OVER THE SAFETY OF THE VACCINES

AS THE VACCINATION CAMPAIGN CONTINUES IN FULL SWING,”

the Saudi Gazette reports. THE MOH REITERATED THAT CORONAVIRUS

VACCINES ARE SAFE, EFFECTIVE AND NECESSARY FOR

PROTECTION, AND THAT VACCINES PROVIDE PROTECTION AGAINST

COVID-19 AND PREVENT VIRUS-RELATED DEATHS WITH A 100 PERCENT

SUCCESS RATE.

BUT VACCINE SKEPTICS IN THE KINGDOM, LIKE ELSEWHERE AROUND

THE WORLD, REMAIN, AND THREATEN THE WORLD’S ABILITY TO BE

FULLY RID OF THE CORONAVIRUS AND ITS EVOLVING VARIANTS.

Already, Saudi Arabia has announced yet another scaled-back Hajj in

2021 as it puts safety first for visitors and pilgrims to the Kingdom. ONLY

THOSE WHO ARE VACCINATED MAY PARTICIPATE.

The announcement comes with a total value of nearly SAR4 billion ($1

billion) and is being executed in partnership with 10 global technology

giants, according to a press release published in the website of the Royal

Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington.

IT IS BEING BILLED AS THE BIGGEST TECHNOLOGICAL LAUNCH OF ITS

KIND IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA.

One goal of the program is to create one programmer out of every 100

Saudi nationals by 2030. Saudi authorities are hoping to create a

homegrown technology sector that helps to power its economic

diversification goals as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 social and

economic reform plans. The goal is to not only create a culture of

entrepreneurship among Saudi citizens, but to attract investment in

technology and transform the Kingdom into a regional technological hub

for entrepreneurs, innovators and programmers from the region and the

world.

THE NEW PROGRAM LAUNCH IS BACKED BY CROWN PRINCE

MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN. LAUNCHKSA IS A COLLABORATION

BETWEEN THE MCIT AND THE SAUDI DATA AND AI AUTHORITY (SDAIA)

AND THE SAUDI FEDERATION FOR CYBERSECURITY, PROGRAMMING

AND DRONES.

Global technology companies including Google, Amazon, IBM, Cisco,

Oracle, Microsoft, Trend Micro and Avance Security announced their

cooperation with the Kingdom’s new initiative.

SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE: TARGETS AND PROGRESS

Saudi Arabia this week marked its first SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE DAY,

EMPHASIZING THE KINGDOM’S EFFORTS AND DEDICATION TOWARD

WORKING FOR A GREENER FUTURE. Since its launch by SAUDI CROWN

PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN in 2021, SGI has come a long way.

WHAT IS SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE? THE SGI WAS LAUNCHED BY MBS

ON MARCH 27, 2021, AND HAS SINCE PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN

ACCELERATING ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION EFFORTS, transitioning the

energy sector, and implementing sustainability programs in various

fields. IT IS CONSIDERED A NATURAL EXTENSION TO SAUDI VISION 2030

that also looks at improving the quality of life for generations to come.

The Saudi government last week declared March 27 of every year as SGI

Day as it coincides with the launch of the SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE on

the same date in 2021. The annual climate action awareness day aims to

raise awareness of the progress that has been made so far and

encourage collective action to contribute to a greener future.

44 | P a g e

Saudi Arabia has also worked to protect endangered species where over

1,660 endangered animals “have been rewilded in Saudi Arabia’s

growing nature reserves, including Arabian oryx, Arabian and sand

gazelles and Nubian ibex.” For example, in 2023, seven Arabian leopard

cubs were born under the conservation breeding program in Taif.

According to the SGI website, a 2.8 GW renewable energy has been

connected to the Kingdom’s grid, generating energy equivalent to

powering over 520,000 homes. An additional 8.4 GW of renewable

energy is under construction and 3.3 GW is under development. This will

generate energy equivalent to powering an extra two million homes.

“This increase in installed capacity demonstrates the pace at which Saudi

Arabia is accelerating its energy transition to achieve 50 percent power

generation capacity from renewable sources by 2030.” Over 49 million

trees planted. The Kingdom’s progress has also been reflected in the

efforts to create greener spaces. With a target of growing 10 billion trees

over the coming decades, over 49 million trees and shrubs have so far

been planted. “94,000 hectares of degraded land have been

rehabilitated - equivalent to over 146,000 football fields.”

Annual Report 2021 | The Fourth Industrial

Revolution in the Kingdom

The Fourth Industrial Revolution first emerged as a phrase by scientists

working on developing a high-tech strategy for the German government.

Subsequently in 2015, Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World

Economic Forum (WEF), introduced the phrase to a wider audience. The

term represents the fourth major industrial period since the First

Industrial Revolution of the 18th Century.

A subset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is Industry 4.0, often

referred to as I4.0, and is a concept of networked connectivity and

advanced data analytics, combined with cutting edge technologies,

Artificial Intelligence, Additive Manufacturing, Augmented Reality, etc.,

50 | P a g e

to create flexible and Interconnected & Interdependent Novel Ways New

Technologies dynamic automated smart factories.

What is an Industrial Revolution? One definition is the application of new

technologies and novel ways of doing things that are interconnected and

interdependent and result in a transformation of both economics and

society.

These strategic initiatives are supported by multi-faceted networks of

stakeholders including companies, associations, academia, and

policymakers to drive the country’s Industry 4.0 mission forward.

Saudi Arabia The I4.0 initiative forms part of the overall SAUDI VISION

2030.

Industrial technology has continuously evolved from the start of the first

revolution, the defining period within each previous revolution being the

confluence of inter-related and inter-connected new technologies and

novel ways that transformed economics and society.

Some of the major components of each of the previous revolutions have

continued to evolve and maintain a presence in the 4th Industrial

revolution of today. Main examples being mechanization and steam

power from the 1st revolution, electricity and logical production

processes (Lean manufacturing foundations) from the 2nd revolution,

and computerized manufacturing (PLC’s, ERP systems) from the 3rd

revolution.

SINCE 2016, THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM (WEF) HAS SET A

CONSISTENT THEME OF PROMOTING THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL

REVOLUTION. CENTRE FOR THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

IN SAUDI ARABIA, KING ABDULAZIZ CITY FOR SCIENCE AND

TECHNOLOGY (KACST) IS THE LOCAL C4IR HOST INSTITUTION. IT AIMS

TO MAXIMIZE THE TECHNOLOGICAL BENEFITS TO SOCIETY AND

MINIMIZE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH 4IR TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH

FACILITATION OF THE DESIGN, ANALYSIS, AND INVOLVEMENT IN

GOVERNANCE PROTOCOLS AND POLICY FRAMEWORKS.

The center was launched in April 2020 and focuses on ARTIFICIAL

INTELLIGENCE (AI), INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT), SMART CITIES,

AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES, DRONES.

Advanced Manufacturing Hubs The trends regarding the 4th Industrial

Revolution (4IR) have a common theme globally but regional variations

exist regarding government policies, workforce skills, infrastructure, etc.

The WEF provides a platform for a global network of Advanced

Manufacturing Hubs (AMHUBs) to aggregate and accelerate regional

efforts to adapt to the future of Advanced Manufacturing triggered by

4IR technologies.

SIDF is the host organization for the AMHUB in the Kingdom and is

actively engaging with various stakeholders, government entities,

Academia, KACST (as the local center for C4IR), industrial sector

businesses, and suppliers of I4.0 technology. SIDF aims to drive success

in the industrial sector by promoting investment opportunities to

strengthen local industry and enhance operational performance.

GREAT WHITE THRONE AND ETERNAL JUDGEMENT

65 | P a g e

The ABCs (7) of Salvation through Jesus Christ (the Lamb)

A. (7) Admit/Acknowledge/Accept that you are sinner. Ask (7) God’s forgiveness

and repent of your sins.

. . . “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

. . . “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

us.” (1 John 1:8).

66 | P a g e

B. Believe Jesus is Lord. Believe that (7) Jesus Christ is who He claimed to (7) be;

that He was both fully God (7) and fully man and that we are (7) saved through

His death, burial, and resurrection. (7) Put your trust in Him as your (7) only

hope of salvation. Become a son (7) or daughter of God by receiving Christ.

(7777777) 7x7

. . . “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever

believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his

son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might

be saved. (John 3:15-17). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall

be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

C. Call upon His name, Confess (7) with your heart and with your lips (7) that

Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

. . . “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in

thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with

the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is

made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to

cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make

him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (John 1:8-10).
