Venues in 2025
Key insights and opportunities to consider for the year ahead
As the wedding and event industry moves
into 2025, venue owners and managers
face a rapidly evolving landscape. Changing
customer expectations, technological
advancements, and economic pressures are
reshaping the way venues operate. Staying
ahead of these trends is crucial to thriving in the
competitive marketplace.
Reimagining the guest experience
In 2025, the focus on guest experience is
more critical than ever. Today’s couples
and event hosts are seeking venues that go
beyond providing a space and instead deliver
a fully immersive experience. This includes
personalised services, unique decor options,
and curated packages that cater to individual
tastes. Venue owners can capitalise on this trend
by offering bespoke add-ons, such as tailored
lighting, interactive entertainment, and themed
setups.
Package collaborations with local vendors can
also enhance the guest experience. Partnering
with florists, caterers, or photographers to
provide seamless packages not only saves time
for clients but also positions your venue as a
one-stop solution.
Sustainability as a core offering
Sustainability is no longer optional; it’s a priority
for many clients. Couples and event organisers
are increasingly making choices that align with
their environmental values, and they expect
venues to do the same. In 2025, venues can stand
out by embracing sustainable practices such as
energy-efficient lighting, solar power, and waste
reduction strategies. Offer eco-friendly packages,
like locally sourced catering and sustainable

decor options.
Be transparent in your communication of
sustainability efforts, highlighting your initiatives
on your website and marketing materials.
The rise of hybrid events
Hybrid events, which combine in-person
gatherings with virtual elements, are set to
grow in popularity in 2025. These events cater
to clients who want to expand their guest list
beyond geographical boundaries or include
loved ones who cannot attend in person.
Investing in the technology to support live
streaming, virtual guest participation, and
interactive digital features can set your venue
apart. Creating dedicated spaces within your
venue for broadcasting or virtual interactions can
further enhance this offering.
Adapting to economic realities
The rising cost of living has made affordability a
key concern for clients. Venues must find ways
to deliver value without compromising quality.
Offering flexible payment plans or discounts for
off-peak bookings can make your services more
accessible. Bundled packages that provide cost
savings while maintaining high standards of
service are also an attractive option.
It’s equally important to manage your own
costs effectively. Streamlining operations
through technology, such as automated booking
systems or AI-powered customer service tools,
can reduce overheads and improve efficiency.
Inclusive and accessible design
In 2025, inclusivity is not just a consideration; it’s
an expectation. Modern couples are looking for
venues that can accommodate all their guests
comfortably and respectfully. This includes
ensuring wheelchair access, gender-neutral
facilities, and options for dietary restrictions.
Thoughtful venue design and staff training in
inclusivity can go a long way in meeting these
expectations.
Inclusivity also extends to the types of events
you host. Marketing your venue as a welcoming
space for all cultures, traditions, and celebrations
can open doors to a wider audience and increase
bookings.
GETTY IMAGES
The events industry is known for
its demanding nature, and 2025
is the year to prioritise staff
wellbeing.
VENUES
Technology-enhanced experiences
Technology continues to revolutionise the event
industry. In 2025, venue owners should explore
ways to integrate tech into their offerings to
enhance the client experience. Virtual reality
(VR) tours, for instance, allow prospective clients
to explore your venue from the comfort of
their homes. Augmented reality (AR) can help
clients visualise decor or layout changes during
planning.
Smart technology, such as app-based lighting
and sound controls, can offer clients greater
customisation on the day of their event. These
features not only improve the guest experience
but also position your venue as innovative and
forward-thinking.
Prioritising staff wellbeing
The events industry is known for its
demanding nature, and 2025 is the
year to prioritise staff wellbeing.
Happy, well-supported staff are
essential to delivering exceptional
service. Consider offering training
programs, flexible working
hours, and mental health
support. Investing in your team’s
development and well-being will
pay dividends in the quality of
service they provide to clients.
Emphasising local and unique
offerings
Couples and event organisers are
increasingly drawn to venues that
showcase local charm and uniqueness.
GETTY IMAGES
Highlighting local produce in catering options,
incorporating regional design elements,
or sharing the venue’s history can create a
memorable experience. These details help your
venue stand out in a crowded market while
resonating with clients looking for authenticity.
Looking ahead
The 2025 wedding and event season presents
both challenges and opportunities for venue
owners and managers. By focusing on
sustainability, inclusivity, technology, and
personalised experiences, you can stay ahead of
the competition and meet the evolving needs of
your clients. The key to success lies in balancing
innovation with practicality and ensuring that
every client’s vision is brought to life in a way
that feels unique and unforgettable.

Painswick
Church &
Village Centre
Product: Battery lighting
Supplier: CORE Lighting, 01452 812597,
sales@corelighting.co.uk, www.corelighting.co.uk
CORE Lighting was asked by two separate venues to
supply lighting for the opening nights of Painswick
Village 2024 Christmas festivities and around the
village itself. This included inside the church and
hall, the village’s famous churchyard yew trees and
pathway lighting for a procession from the church
to the village centre. Lighting was also provided for
the traditional Goodwill evening stalls and outdoor
car park area which was set up with food and drink
concessions.
The scheme entirely used CORE Lighting’s own
design uplighting, festoon and fairy lights in various
settings, running from internal batteries, with no
external power lighting up a normally dark Cotswold
village. CORE Uplighters lit up the church nave and
stalls in the large town hall. Long festoon strings
beautifully lit the long churchyard path and the
outdoor retail stalls. Overhead festoon lights lit
public areas to add a warm but bright atmosphere.
Fairy lights with timers decoratively lit the famous
Painswick Yew Trees remaining in place beyond the
festive season. With a record turnout of visitors, the
atmosphere was very warm and congenial.
When Jonathan at Trevenna Farm contacted
Bond, he was very clear that he wanted a huge
safari tent! His family farm was already a soughtafter
wedding venue in Cornwall, so a white
marquee was not going to suit, and Jonathan
had some wonderful, creative ideas.
The design chosen for this exclusive wedding
venue was a 9m x 21m marquee structure with
Bond’s unique safari-style overhanging roofs
and locally turned oak poles and finials to
complete the aesthetic. The exterior was clad
with other materials such as wood and tin to
creating a really unique structure.
Bond loves working with clients who are
keen to get creative. For exclusive event spaces
and wedding venues it is so very important
to set yourself apart from all other locations.
Bond’s unique large safari-tent marquees are
permanent structures and available in a range
of sizes. Suited to exclusive locations, the
colours and high-performance canvas blend
harmoniously with the environment, and are
particularly popular for a wide variety of uses
including shooting lodges.

Bespoke Events Management approached
Tentstyle with a unique challenge: to combine
cutting-edge innovation with a relaxed, festivalinspired
atmosphere for an unforgettable corporate
exhibition. The event, held at the picturesque
Bespoke at Hartswood Estate in the Surrey hills,
focused on showcasing the latest in generative AI
technology.
Tentstyle’s primary responsibility was the design
and setup of the Festival Zone, which became the
heart of the event. The team installed a stunning
stretch tent that featured dynamic lighting, matting,
and a 7m screen for live event footage. The area
was further enhanced with food trucks and viewing
platforms, creating an immersive, tech-meetsoutdoor
experience that perfectly complemented
the theme.
Throughout multiple stages, from testing to the
event day, Tentstyle worked closely with Bespoke
Events Management to ensure every detail was
executed flawlessly. The result was a seamless blend
of innovation and relaxation, leaving attendees with
lasting memories of a truly unique and engaging
event.
Skipbridge Country Weddings forms the heart of
Skipbridge Farm, a small, passionately family run
business situated between York and Harrogate.
Owned by Gill and Gordon Hall, the venue won
the prestigious award of Best UK outdoor wedding
venue at the Wedding Industry Awards, an
accolade the family is very proud of.
Gill and Gordon contacted Crafted Canvas as
they saw an opportunity in purchasing their own
tipi structures. Investing in their own structures
meant less damage to the site, as a new structure
wasn’t erected each week, and a guarantee of
quality. Maintenance was also reduced as the tipis
only needed de-rigging once each year, this also
enabled them to fit hard flooring and a bar easily.
Crafted Canvas has developed a close working
relationship with Skipbridge. By working together,
the venue has been able to invest in more
infrastructure and retain a higher percentage of
earnings. Crafted Canvas has been a helping hand
every step of the way to advise Gill and Gordon on
setting up as a semi-permanent wedding venue
in Yorkshire.

Finding your Voice
How to establish a cohesive style, tone, and aesthetic on Instagram
You know it when you see it – a beautifully
curated Instagram presence that defines the
brand that’s presenting itself. But just how is
that magic created? It’s all about tone, style
and aesthetics. This handy checklist will help you
capture your venue’s unique charm on Instagram
while resonating deeply with your ideal clients.
Define your brand identity
Target audience
Identify your ideal clients (e.g., luxury
n weddings, rustic barn ceremonies, modern
minimalist celebrations) and create a content
plan that aligns with their preferences and
aspirations.
Unique selling points (USPs)
Highlight what makes your venue unique
n such as breathtaking views, historical charm,
flexible layouts etc.
Brand personality
Decide on the tone of voice: romantic,
n elegant, playful, modern, or classic.
Develop a visual style
Colour palette
Choose a consistent palette (e.g. soft pastels
n for romance, neutral tones for elegance, bold
colours for vibrancy). Ensure all posts align
with this palette, including photos, graphics,
and videos.
Photography style
Use professional, high-resolution photos
n showcasing your venue in natural light. Focus
on key wedding moments such as décor,
ceremonies, receptions, and candid guest
shots. Experiment with angles to highlight
the venue’s architecture, surroundings, and
details.
Filters and editing
Use consistent editing techniques or presets
n to maintain a cohesive look. Avoid overediting;
aim for timeless elegance rather than
trends.
Typography
Select fonts for text overlays that match your
n brand aesthetic (e.g. serif for sophistication,
handwritten for charm).
Curate content themes
Showcase the venue
Highlight different areas of the venue:
n ceremony spaces, reception halls, outdoor
gardens, bridal suites.
Real weddings
Share photos and videos from actual
n weddings at your venue. Include testimonials
or quotes from couples.
Behind the scenes
Post setup shots, staff at work, or preparations
n for an event to humanise your brand.
Seasonal content
Feature seasonal décor or styling ideas (e.g.
n spring florals, winter wonderlands).
Tips and inspiration
Share wedding planning advice, styling ideas,
n or trends to position yourself as an expert.
Collaborations
Tag and credit vendors, photographers,
n and planners featured in your posts to build
relationships and expand reach.
User-generated content
Encourage couples to share their photos and
n tag your venue. Repost with permission.
14
Set the tone
Captions
Use a consistent
n tone (e.g., romantic,
celebratory, or
aspirational). Incorporate
storytelling to evoke
emotions, such as
sharing a couple’s
journey or describing a special wedding
moment. Include calls to action (e.g. “Book a
tour today!” or “See more in our bio link”).
Hashtags
Create a branded hashtag (e.g.
n #YourVenueNameWeddings). Use a
mix of popular wedding hashtags and
location-based tags (e.g., #WeddingVenue,
#RusticWedding, #CountyNameWeddings).
Language
Use inclusive language that appeals to diverse
n couples. Avoid jargon; keep descriptions
accessible and engaging.
Leverage Instagram features
Grid layout
Plan a cohesive grid by alternating between
n wide shots, details, and text posts. Use tools
like scheduling apps to preview your feed
layout before posting.
Stories
Share daily updates, behind-the-scenes
n moments, or polls for engagement. Save key
stories as highlights (e.g. “Real Weddings,”
“Venue Tours,” “FAQs”).
Reels
Create short, engaging videos showcasing the
n venue, ceremonies, or setup transformations.
Carousels
Use carousel posts to tell a story, showcase a
n wedding timeline, or feature multiple venue
angles.

Host live venue tours, Q&A sessions with staff,
n or vendor showcases.
Engage with your audience
Reply to comments and DMs
Respond promptly and professionally to
n enquiries and feedback.

Glamping in 2025
Canopy & Stars unveils its 2025 Glamping Market Report where wellness
and nature-connection drive travel trends for the year ahead
Canopy & Stars, a leading curator of unique outdoor
accommodation, has released its 2025 Glamping Market
Report. The report looks at its booking data as well as news
from the wider industry and reveals a significant shift in
travel preferences towards wellness-focused experiences.
Key findings from the report include:
Things are hotting up in wellness-centric travel
We’ve seen a growing trend among travellers prioritising
wellness, simplicity, and spending time in nature;
glamping has emerged as an ideal, transformative escape
that aligns perfectly with this trend. One wellness trend
going from strength to strength in the glamping world is
saunas; traffic to our ‘saunas’ pages on Canopy & Stars is
up 1500% in 2024 (vs 2023), with google searches for saunas
peaking in 2024 too. We predict them to remain a firm feature of a
nature break in 2025.

GLAMPING
Unique designs are in demand
There is an increasing desire for distinctive
places that offer one-of-a-kind stays, even
among budget-conscious travellers. This trend
underscores the growing need for personalised
guest experiences. Top-performing places on
Canopy & Stars in 2024 were a double decker bus,
a Roman-style fort and a magnificent treehouse.
Shepherds huts are having a moment
Financial pressures have helped the resurgence
of the shepherd’s hut. These small spaces tick a
lot of boxes for consumers, being packed full of
experiences and still expressive of their owners
and locale while falling within a more modest
budget. Canopy & Stars saw an eight-fold increase
in new shepherds huts in 2024 compared to last
year. In the past Canopy & Stars have rejected
many uninspired shepherds huts and whilst
selection criteria hasn’t changed, owners have
upped their game, bringing a delightful creativity
to designing and decorating small spaces.
Expansion beyond traditional regions
Historically dominant in southern England,
glamping is gaining traction in northern England,
Wales, and Ireland, fuelled by a growing appetite
for diverse, nature-rich locations. Canopy & Stars
booking data shows demand is outstripping
supply in northern England, with requests for
summer weekend bookings far exceeding the
capacity of places that exist to fulfil them and
Yorkshire making its first appearance in the top
three regions searched on our site.

GLAMPING
Switched on travellers
Overtourism hit the news in 2024, and consumers
are beginning to demand alternatives to
traditional accommodation in overstretched
destinations. While glamping is, in many
respects, the answer they’re looking for,
it cannot afford to rest on its laurels and
must work to drive the whole travel
industry towards a more sustainable
future. Initiatives such as Canopy & Stars
Overtourism Policy and Green Journey Gift
Cards help consumers who are looking to
reduce the impact of their holidays.
Despite challenges such as adverse
weather conditions and political events
affecting summer bookings in 2024, the
glamping industry continues to grow and is
well-positioned to meet the evolving demands
of conscious consumers seeking meaningful, lowimpact
travel experiences.

An outdoor activity and
accommodation provider with an
historic site in the Gloucestershire
Cotswolds used Cinderella Comfort
incinerator toilets to provide
luxurious yet ecological facilities to
its isolated glamping units.
The challenge was to manage waste disposal in areas without access to mains drainage. A way
needed to be found that would deal with effluent from remote accommodation sites without intrusion
into the natural environment, any odour, waste disposal problems or lengthy daily or routine
maintenance needs.
The solution was to install Cinderella Comfort incinerator toilets. The toilets are designed and made
in Scandinavia with UK stock, service and support provided by Pump Technology. They use a practical,
proven technology for waterless waste disposal leaving an inert, sterile residue with no fossil fumes.
The solution amplified and illustrated this glamping provider’s ethos and commitment to the

With the boom in demand for hot tubs, the challenge of refilling
and heating them quickly in between bookings is often a cause of
stress for busy hospitality and glamping operators everywhere.
Not to mention the cost!
Cornwall based Wigwam Holidays glamping site Grassington Farm was
feeling the pressure on both operations and budgets, and approached Hydro Heater for a solution.
Set on a working farm in a prime location near Helston, the site has six deluxe en-suite cabins, allowing
guests to reconnect with nature while still enjoying home comforts. Having recently introduced hot tubs
to their offering, the additional stress and time taken to prepare them for new guests while fully complying
with health safety guidelines was proving a significant challenge!
The price of wood has also seen running costs for wood fired hot tubs rise substantially in recent years.
However, with heating oil already on site, owner Kevin Andrew has been able to slash his heat up costs
by around 75%.
The UK manufactured 60kW Hydro Heater is proving an invaluable tool for saving both time, and money.

Fire
safety
Did you know that fire safety for small
holiday lets including glamping units
has been updated?
Updated in January 2025, the Home Office’s
guide ‘Making your small paying-guestaccommodation

assessment inspection, also known as a fire risk
assessment (FRA), and provide action points. This
will cost around £370 per unit type and will provide
you will detailed information on what you need
to do to be compliant should the worse happen.
Recommendations might include tamper-proof,
interlinked heat and smoke alarms, thumb turn
internal locks to exits, a certain type of extinguisher,
better signage and regular maintenance checks

Events in 2025
How organisers can capitalise on the shifting landscape for events
EVENTS
The UK outdoor events industry is poised for
a year of significant evolution in 2025. As
audience behaviours shift, technological
innovations emerge, and new regulatory
landscapes take shape, organisers must
approach planning with a fresh perspective.
This guide highlights emerging priorities and
untapped opportunities that will define success
in the year ahead.
The rise of micro experiences
Large scale festivals and events remain
popular, but there is a growing demand for
smaller, more intimate gatherings. These
"micro experiences" focus on exclusivity,
curated content, and deeper engagement.
Think private dining under the stars, niche
music performances, or specialised workshops
tailored to smaller groups. For organisers, this
GETTY IMAGES
31
GETTY IMAGES
EVENTS
shift presents an opportunity to target high-value
attendees who are willing to pay a premium for
unique, personalised experiences. Emphasising
exclusivity can also create buzz and foster loyalty,
as attendees feel part of something rare and
special.
Decentralised venues
In 2025, the definition of a venue is expanding.
Organisers are stepping away from traditional
event spaces and exploring unconventional
settings like historic ruins, floating platforms,
and even urban rooftops. These venues not only
offer a fresh aesthetic but also allow for creative
storytelling that enhances the event’s narrative.
Choosing unique locations can also alleviate
logistical challenges associated with overcrowded
traditional venues while supporting local tourism
and businesses in less frequented areas. However,
organisers must ensure compliance with local
safety and accessibility standards, as these spaces
often present unique challenges.
Immersive storytelling
Gone are the days when entertainment was the
sole focus of events. Attendees now expect to be
part of a narrative. In 2025, immersive storytelling
will play a key role in engaging audiences. This
involves crafting multisensory experiences that
draw people into a thematic journey. From
theatrical performances integrated into festivals
to interactive tech-driven installations, the
goal is to blur the lines between observer and
participant. Successful immersive events can
captivate attendees, driving social media buzz
and lasting impressions.
AI powered planning
Artificial intelligence is revolutionising event
planning and execution. Beyond chatbots and
basic personalisation tools, AI can now optimise
complex logistics like crowd flow, weather
risk mitigation, and onsite security. Predictive
analytics can also help organisers make data
driven decisions about ticket pricing, marketing
strategies, and even attendee preferences.
Integrating AI into planning processes not only
improves efficiency but also enhances the overall
attendee experience by proactively addressing
potential pain points.
Post event engagement
While much attention is given to creating
unforgettable event day experiences, the
conversation in 2025 shifts towards post-event
engagement. Attendees no longer view events
32
as one-off experiences; they expect ongoing
connections. Organisers can foster this by creating
digital communities where attendees share
memories, access exclusive content, or participate
in follow-up activities. Offering downloadable
resources, behind-the-scenes footage, or early-bird
access to future events helps maintain attendee
interest long after the event.
Innovative transport solutions
As environmental concerns grow, how attendees
travel to events becomes as important as the
events themselves. In 2025, organisers will
increasingly partner with transport providers
to offer sustainable, accessible options such as
shared shuttles, electric vehicle charging stations,
and discounted public transport. Promoting
these options not only reduces the event’s
carbon footprint but also aligns with audience
expectations for eco-friendly practices. Organisers
in rural or hard-to-reach locations should focus
on creative transport solutions to maximise
attendance while minimising impact.
Catering to generational shifts
Generational diversity is reshaping audience
dynamics. While younger attendees prioritise
tech integration and social media shareability,
older audiences value comfort, accessibility, and
meaningful connections. In 2025, successful events
will find ways to cater to these varied preferences.
This could include offering high-tech app-based
experiences and offline spaces for relaxation
or networking. Understanding generational
trends ensures that events appeal to a broad
audience while addressing specific needs.
The role of live art and culture
Incorporating live art and cultural
programming into events is gaining
momentum. These elements, from
pop-up galleries to interactive murals
and live performances, create a sense
of place and foster a connection with
the local community. Collaborating
with regional artists or cultural groups
can enrich the event experience while
showcasing local talent. Such initiatives
also contribute to a deeper sense of
authenticity, which attendees increasingly
seek.
Organisers in rural or hard-to-reach
locations should focus on creative
transport solutions to maximise
attendance while minimising impact.
The Ever-Unpredictable Weather
Weather naturally continues to impact outdoor
events. Beyond traditional weatherproofing
measures, organisers should adopt a proactive
stance. This includes implementing dynamic
scheduling to accommodate sudden changes,
investing in weather-resilient infrastructure, and
ensuring comprehensive insurance coverage. Clear
communication with attendees about contingency
plans can also build trust and enhance the overall
experience, even in the face of disruption.
Looking beyond 2025
The outdoor events industry is entering an era of
innovation and adaptation. By focusing on unique
experiences, leveraging advanced technologies,
and addressing evolving audience expectations,
organisers can stay ahead of the curve. The year
2025 is a pivotal moment to rethink traditional
approaches and embrace new possibilities. For
those willing to experiment and innovate, the
opportunities are boundless.

The Landwirtschaftliches Hauptfest takes place in
Stuttgart in South West Germany over nine days
in late September/early October to coincide with
the popular Cannstatter Volksfest Beer Festival. It
showcases machinery, structures and a wide range
of solutions employed across the agricultural sector,
from rearing livestock to working the land.
A large part of the show ground is covered with
gravel and not ideally suited for pedestrian traffic,
pushchairs or those with mobility issues. For this
reason the organisers were looking for a product that
could be quickly and easily deployed as a walkway
on the gravel surface for the duration of the event
to provide a more suitable and comfortable surface
for pedestrians, especially for wheelchair users and
children’s buggies etc.
Another requirement was that the product could
be removed quickly after the show and would take up
little storage space when not in use, as the operators
of the Cannstatter Wasen showground planned to
use it for other events held at the venue. S2T Group’s
PERFO-EQ system of interlocking plastic tiles was the
ideal solution, meeting the client’s requirements.

is Groundswell, the Regenerative Agriculture
Festival. Now in its eighth year, Groundswell has
been a key project for the past six years, during
which the company has provided all of the
event’s stretch tent solutions. This large-scale
event presents a significant challenge, with
almost 3,000m2 of coverage and more than 15
tents rigged in under a day, pushing the limits
of Alternative’s skilled team.
Groundswell, often described as “for
farmers, by farmers,” serves as an inclusive
event for anyone interested in food production,
sustainability, and environmental practices.
Alternative Stretch Tents’ structures vary in
size and shape, with everything from compact
hypars and smaller stretch tents to its largest
single canvas tent, measuring 21m x 15m. The
tents, often joined together, not only provide
functional space but also add to the festival's
dynamic atmosphere. Each year, the team
continues to refine its approach, ensuring that
it meets the ever-growing demands of this
remarkable event.
