each other to enhance consultations, coordination and the sharing of

information and skills,” he explained. The two organizations will develop

other initiatives, to build the capacity of members of the Arab League in

the fields of counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism.

SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE FORUM 2022

Under the patronage of HRH Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and

Prime Minister, (5) THE SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE (SGI) FORUM will

gather for their second edition climate leaders to discuss best practices,

emphasize innovation, evaluate advancements and drive forward

substantive action in the race against climate change.

At last year’s SGI forum, Saudi Arabia committed to the world. The SGI

Forum 2022, held in tandem with COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, will

reconvene partners from across the climate ecosystem under the (5)

THEME ‘FROM AMBITION TO ACTION.’ Speakers will highlight the steps

SAUDI ARABIA SEES TRACTION WITH GREEN INITIATIVES AS

KINGDOM CLIMBS RANKS OF MIT’S GREEN FUTURE INDEX

Saudi Arabia advanced 10 places in the second edition of the Green

Future Index, issued by MIT Technology Review, evidence that the

Kingdom is seeing progress in its goals outlined in the new Saudi Green

Initiative announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman last year.

The Green Future Index 2022 is the second edition of the comparative

ranking of 76 nations and territories on their ability to develop a

sustainable, low-carbon future, according to the organization’s website.

It measures the degree to which their economies are pivoting toward

clean energy, industry, agriculture, and society through investment in

renewables, innovation, and green policy.

26 | P a g e

The Kingdom ranked 51st out of 76 nations this year, improving from 61st

out of 76 last year.

“Saudi Arabia’s domestic solar power only constitutes 0.5% of its energy

mix. However, it has many international solar investments, including $10

billion committed to 10 African projects by state energy company ACWA

Power,” the MIT-based initiative said.

WITH THE AIM OF ACHIEVING SEVERAL OBJECTIVES OF SAUDI VISION

2030, THE SAUDI GREEN INITIATIVE (SGI), THE MIDDLE EAST GREEN

INITIATIVE (MGI) —AND THE CIRCULAR CARBON ECONOMY APPROACH

THAT THE INITIATIVES AIM TO ADVANCE — ARE KEY PILLARS TO

DEVELOP THE ROADMAP TO REALIZE THE KINGDOM’S AMBITIOUS

CLIMATE OBJECTIVES.

As Arab News notes, the inaugural SGI Forum in October 2021 saw the

announcement of a first suite of more than 60 new initiatives, with over

SR700 billion in investments. The second editions of the MGI Summit and

the SGI Forum, held under the theme ‘From ambition to action’, will take

place next week in tandem with COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

SAUDI ARABIA’S CROWN PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN

LAUNCHES NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY

Jeddah, Oct 18, 2022, SPA -- His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and

Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, has

launched the Kingdom’s new National Strategy for Industry.

In line with the objectives of the Saudi VISION 2030, the Strategy aims to

build an industrial economy that attracts investment, contributes to

achieving economic diversification and develops the Kingdom’s domestic

product and non-oil exports.

29 | P a g e

“We have all the capabilities we need to enable a competitive and

sustainable industrial economy, from ambitious young talent, a

distinguished geographical location, rich natural resources, and the

presence of leading national industrial companies. Through the National

Strategy for Industry and in partnership with the private sector, the

Kingdom will become a leading industrial power that contributes to

securing global supply chains and exporting high-tech products to the

world,” said His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

The industrial sector is one of the pillars of the Saudi VISION 2030, and

the subject of much attention from the Kingdom’s prudent leadership.

The National Industrial Development and Logistics Program has

previously been launched and an independent ministry established to

oversee the sector. Other programs and entities have led to an increase

in the number of industrial establishments by more than 50% since the

launch of VISION 2030, reaching 10,640 industrial facilities in 2022. The

National Industrial Strategy will drive growth in the sector, bringing the

number of facilities to around 36,000 by 2035.

The National Strategy for Industry focuses on 12 sub-sectors to diversify

the industrial economy in the Kingdom. More than 800 investment

opportunities worth one trillion Saudi Riyals, have been identified,

constituting a new chapter of sustainable growth for the sector. These

will achieve ambitious economic returns for the Kingdom by 2030, and

include: tripling the industrial domestic product, and doubling the value

of industrial exports to reach 557 billion Saudi riyals. The National

Strategy for Industry is also working to bring 1.3 trillion Saudi riyals of

additional investment in the sector, and to increase exports of advanced

technology products by around six times, in addition to creating tens of

quality, high-value jobs thousands.

30 | P a g e

Through the Strategy, the Kingdom aspires to empower the private sector

and increase the flexibility and competitiveness of the industrial sector,

ensuring continuity of access to important commodities for the wellbeing

of citizens and the continuity of economic activity, in addition to

leading the regional industrial integration of value chains, taking

advantage of the strengths of the Saudi economy and achieving global

leadership in a group of selected commodities by investing in promising

new technologies.

To achieve these ambitious national objectives, a governance model for

the industrial sector has been developed through the formation of the

Supreme Committee for Industry, headed by His Royal Highness the

Crown Prince to oversee the development of the sector. An Industrial

Council has also been created with the participation of the private sector,

to ensure the participation of industrial investors in decision-making and

development policies.

The industrial sector in the Kingdom is based on solid industrial

foundations and successes built over 50 years, contributing to the

addition of more than 340 billion Saudi riyals to the GDP and providing

many quality jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities across various

industrial fields. Today, the Kingdom is the fourth largest manufacturer of

petrochemical products in the world, while its industrial outputs

contribute to supplying global supply and manufacturing chains, across

many industries.

The launch of the strategy is aligned with global industrial trends, such as

THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION along with the Kingdom's

competitive advantages in the form of its geographical location,

abundance of natural resources and energy sources, human capabilities,

purchasing power and stable monetary policies.

SAUDI ARABIA’S GLOBAL AI SUMMIT: POINTS

OF INTEREST FOR THE INDUSTRY

5 October, 2022

The 2nd Global AI Summit, organised by Saudi Data & AI Authority

(SDAIA), was held from 13 to 15 September 2022 under the theme

“ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (5) FOR THE GOOD OF HUMANITY”. The

three-day summit took place in Riyadh under THE PATRONAGE OF HIS

ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCE MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN, CROWN PRINCE,

PRIME MINISTER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF

THE SDAIA.

WHAT IS THE GLOBAL AI SUMMIT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

The Global AI Summit is one of the world’s premier platforms for

dialogue, bringing together stakeholders from the public and private

sectors, as well as academia, to shape the future of artificial intelligence

(AI). BY HOSTING THE SUMMIT, THE KINGDOM SEEKS TO REALISE ITS

ASPIRATIONS FOR GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP THROUGH AN

ECONOMY BASED ON AI AND DATA, STRESSING THE IMPORTANCE OF

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ON AI FOR THE COMMON GOOD AND

SUPPORTING ITS ROLE IN MEETING THE UN 2030 SUSTAINABLE

DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG).

KEY OUTCOMES OF THE SUMMIT

The summit examined eight pillars: smart cities, capacity building,

healthcare, transportation, energy, culture, environment and economic

mobility. In total, more than 40 memorandums of understanding,

declarations and partnerships were signed between the public and

private sectors towards investing in AI technologies, underlining THE

48 | P a g e

KINGDOM’S ASPIRATIONS TO BECOME A GLOBAL AI HUB AS PART OF

ITS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME, VISION 2030.

DIGITAL ECONOMY AND AI

During the summit, THE DIGITAL COOPERATION ORGANIZATION

(DCO)[1] ADOPTED THE RIYADH AI CALL FOR ACTION DECLARATION

(RAICA). THE DECLARATION SEEKS TO USE AI TECHNOLOGY TO BENEFIT

TRANSNATIONAL AND TRANSCONTINENTAL COMMUNITIES,

ADVANCING THE DCO’S COMMITMENT TO IDENTIFY AND ADDRESS

PRESENT, EMERGING AND FUTURE HUMANITARIAN ISSUES.

The declaration highlights seven key pillars that will help to bring this

future into reality:

1. Closing the digital divide

2. Empowering underprivileged communities

3. Promoting digital development

4. Ensuring fairness and non-discrimination

5. Driving AI innovation

6. Combating climate change through AI

7. Engaging in international collaboration and cooperation

To execute the declaration, a series of actions is required.

1. Member states need to improve their digital infrastructure

2. Formulate ethical AI guidelines

3. Provide people with AI literacy

4. Employ AI to advance human rights

5. Reduce human impact on the climate

6. Accelerate AI accessibility across nations

49 | P a g e

Accordingly, the declaration and member states need to cooperate with

private stakeholders to drive their initiatives and implement AI according

to national and global perspectives.

In addition, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) signed an

agreement with SDAIA to FORMULATE (5) A GLOBAL AI READINESS

FRAMEWORK for key socio-economic domains, such as health and smart

mobility, to harness AI’s full potential.

According to the agreement, the ITU will develop the AI Readiness

Framework with funding support from SDAIA. The agreement aims to

establish best practices for ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, REGULATORY

FRAMEWORKS and INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS, while also encouraging

them to overcome existing challenges by allowing a variety of tools and

activities to explore national AI best practices and countries’ readiness.

With the support of SDAIA, the ITU-led initiative could therefore be

considered a NECESSARY GUIDELINE FOR GOVERNMENTS WORLDWIDE

to grasp how to use AI more effectively with their resources, as well as

how to enable AI-based start-ups to build their own national AI

economies. Furthermore, the set of frameworks will be critical for

international stakeholders to identify where AI is being used most

effectively, learn from others and make long-term investments in AI

economies where their innovations and services will be fully adopted.

SUSTAINABILITY AND AI

To reduce carbon emissions across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, SDAIA

and IBM signed a strategic agreement to drive the adoption of AI across

the Kingdom’s carbon capture and industrial domains. Riyadh has also

committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2060 and supporting

multinational action to cut emissions. THIS AGREEMENT IS ESPECIALLY

CRITICAL WHILE MEGA SMART CITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS,

50 | P a g e

SUCH AS NEOM or the Red Sea, are being designed, ensuring

sustainability objectives are in mind.

Furthermore, A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND AI CENTRE FOR SUSTAINABILITY

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA

AND THE MIDDLE EAST WAS ANNOUNCED DURING THE SUMMIT. The

“AI Centre for ENVIRONMENT, WATER and AGRICULTURE” brings

together SDAIA and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture

(MEWA) with Google Cloud and its partner Climate Engine.

The programme will (5) FOCUS ON FIVE KEY AREAS:

1. ENVIRONMENT PRESERVATION

2. POLLUTION MONITORING

3. SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

4. WATER & FOOD SECURITY

5. CLIMATE & NATURE PROTECTION

51 | P a g e

Moreover, it will provide training to SDAIA and MEWA Data & Earth and

aims to establish “The (5) EARTH OBSERVATIONAL AND SCIENCE

PROGRAM”, which will use earth observation technology and AI to

provide sustainable solutions that address climate change risks and

enhance the protection of the environment in both the Kingdom and the

region.

The agreements reflect Saudi Arabia’s emphasis on the importance of

CLIMATE CHANGE, the region’s scarcity of WATER SUPPLIES and FOOD

PRODUCTION SYSTEMS.

Consequently, RIYADH DECIDED TO LEAD CLIMATE ACTION USING AI.

The agreements also demonstrate significant interest from global tech

companies in the Saudi market due to its AI-leveraged technologies. The

programme will propel climate change action in the Kingdom and

beyond, with insights based on the latest advancements in data and

machine learning.

The scientific research around climate change is highly data-intensive

and increasingly cloud-based. Consequently, cloud’s sustainability

solutions can help governments and international organizations to

leverage climate risk and report sustainability challenges. The “AI Centre

for ENVIRONMENT, WATER and AGRICULTURE” will encourage more

organisations to follow similar trajectories in their climate action

roadmaps.

DIGITAL GENDER DIVIDE AND AI

Google Cloud and SDAIA also launched a global programme, ‘Elevate’,

that aims to reduce the gender gap in the technological sector, especially

within AI. The programme will provide a four-month training scheme to

women in tech and science, empowering them to pursue the growing job

opportunities (5) IN THE FIVE (5) FIELDS OF:

52 | P a g e

1. Cloud architecture

2. Data engineering

3. Machine learning

4. Engineering

5. Artificial intelligence

Additionally, SDAIA, representing the Kingdom, announced that it would

join the (5) WORLD BANK’S DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP

(DDP) to help developing countries leverage digital innovations to tackle

some of their most challenging issues. BY JOINING THE DDP, RIYADH

AIMS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT

AGENDA, ensuring sustainable development for less privileged countries.

53 | P a g e

This will involve helping to FINANCE, DEVELOP and ADAPT data and AI

technologies to serve humanity’s common goals.

IMPLICATIONS

To realise the summit’s outcomes, the implications for Saudi Arabia are

straightforward. Riyadh’s desire to diversify its oil-dependent economy is

already set in stone. However, while dependence is still highly relevant,

the Kingdom has already found its future alternative to oil: Data.

Against this backdrop, THE NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR DATA AND AI

(NSDAI) REVEALED AT THE 1ST GLOBAL AI SUMMIT ADVANCED

RIYADH’S COMMITMENT TO BECOMING THE REGION’S AI AND DATA

HUB.

THE SECOND SUMMIT REAFFIRMED THE KINGDOM’S REGIONAL

COMMITMENT BUT WENT BEYOND THIS REGIONAL PRISM TO

DEMONSTRATE RIYADH’S WILLINGNESS TO ACCOMMODATE SDGS AND

ENGAGE IN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION.

Consequently, SDAIA and other stakeholders need to implement projects

to accelerate the advancement of AI capabilities. For Saudi Arabia, these

INITIATIVES, MEMORANDUMS and PARTNERSHIPS will accelerate its AI

index and global performance, attracting foreign investment. Digital

diversification will initially benefit the Saudi digital economy before

paving the way toward deconstructing existing digital bifurcation.

[1] THE DIGITAL COOPERATION ORGANIZATION (DCO), ESTABLISHED IN

2020, initially comprised seven member states: the Kingdom of Bahrain,

the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Kuwait, the Federal

Republic of Nigeria, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of

Pakistan and THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA. However, it recently

enlarged to include Djibouti, Morocco and Rwanda.

82 | P a g e

The ABCs (7) of Salvation through Jesus Christ (the Lamb)

A. (7) Admit/Acknowledge/Accept that you are sinner. Ask (7) God’s forgiveness

and repent of your sins.

. . . “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

. . . “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Romans 3:10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

us.” (1 John 1:8).

83 | P a g e

B. Believe Jesus is Lord. Believe that (7) Jesus Christ is who He claimed to (7) be;

that He was both fully God (7) and fully man and that we are (7) saved through

His death, burial, and resurrection. (7) Put your trust in Him as your (7) only

hope of salvation. Become a son (7) or daughter of God by receiving Christ.

(7777777) 7x7

. . . “That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever

believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his

son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might

be saved. (John 3:15-17). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall

be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

C. Call upon His name, Confess (7) with your heart and with your lips (7) that

Jesus is your Lord and Savior.

. . . “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in

thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with

the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is

made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10).

. . . “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to

cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make

him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (John 1:8-10).
