Leadership Pasco Alumni, Class, and friends,
As we reflect on the accomplishments of our
leadership program, we are excited to share the
highlights from January’s activities and provide a
glimpse into what’s to come.
In January, the class participated in the SIMSOC
Simulation, an engaging game that brought
our leadership skills to the forefront. SIMSOC
(Simulated Society) is an exercise that allows
participants to immerse themselves in decisionmaking
scenarios, requiring collaboration, strategic thinking, and problem-solving. This
year’s simulation provided valuable experiences and insights that will undoubtedly benefit the
participants in their future leadership roles. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication
that went into organizing this event and making it a success.
A special thank you goes to Heather Grimes, our SIMSOC Program Leader, whose leadership
and commitment continue to reflect in the success of the program . We also want to
acknowledge the coordinators who joined her in making the SIMSOC Simulation a reality.
Their collaboration, attention to detail, and dedication were key to the event’s success.
We would also like to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to the generous sponsors
who made this event possible. Their continued support is crucial in ensuring that we can
provide enriching experiences like SIMSOC to our classes. We couldn’t have done it without
their commitment to fostering leadership development in our community.
Looking ahead, we are excited for the class fundraiser on February 28, 2025. They are hosting
a Cosmic Bowling at Lane Glo South from 2-5 p.m. The class has been busy planning and it
is sure to be a fun event! We encourage everyone to join us for an afternoon of networking,
fundraising, and community-building. Every contribution will go a long way in making a
difference as the monies raised will benefit Marjorie’s Hope after losing everything in the two
hurricanes in the fall.
As we move forward in the program, we remain committed to the pursuit of excellence and
growth, fostering strong leaders who are ready to tackle the challenges of Pasco County and
beyond. Thank you again to all who contribute to the success of this program. Your support
makes all the difference, and we are excited to see what’s ahead as we continue to build on the
relationships formed.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the fundraiser on February 28!

A Message from the Class of 2025 Officers
Dear Esteemed Friends and Supporters of Leadership Pasco,
Take Note: The Party Has Arrived!
I am excited to share some important updates regarding the
Class of 2025’s journey! Our recent experience with the SIMSOC
simulation was an unforgettable one, filled with moments of
insight and personal growth. Over the course of two days at the
Bethany Center, we faced the challenges of managing a fragile
society. By the end of day one, our society had collapsed, and
I must admit that I played a significant role in that outcome,
albeit unknowingly. The debriefing session provided invaluable
perspectives, shedding light on the different ways each participant
viewed the same situations based on their assigned groups.
SIMSOC was truly a memorable experience, one that will remain
with us as we continue our leadership development.
In addition, I am pleased to report that over the past month, we
have raised more than $30,000 for our upcoming Friday Night
Fever bowling event, which will take place on February 28th at
LaneGlo South. This event will benefit Marjorie’s Hope. Our
class project is to create a boutique shopping experience for
the students who benefit from their services. We still have lanes
available. If you would like to participate, please reach out to me
or any member of the Class of 2025, and we will be happy to get
you signed up. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Class of 2025 is committed to making a lasting impact on
Pasco County, and we are off to a strong start. Thank you for
your continued support as we work toward our goals.
Warm regards,
Garrett Early

To The Leadership Pasco Class of 2025
To the Leadership Class of 2025,
How does one adequately thank a class of amazing leaders
who understood Marjorie’s Hope vision for a kids closet? A
place for students in need to shop in private, but a place every
kid would want to shop; whether they needed the free service
or not!
To simply say thank you hardly seems adequate to convey
gratitude to a class of amazing leaders who recognize the
importance of taking our students out of shopping thrift stores
and Salvation Armies to… providing our kids in need with an
upscale bougie place to shop for newer clothing and personal
hygiene products.
Moreover, the efforts and outcome for the Leadership
Class of 2025 can be defined as an action that deliberately
improves one’s surroundings via changing behaviors through
Community Impact; an opportunity for people to better
understand and address the needs of their community.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Debi Shackowsky

Alumni Updates
By Jason Longo ’17
In case you were wondering why you didn't see any invoice emails
for alumni dues as we approached January 1, alumni membership
has been extended until June 30, 2026 to align with our fiscal
year.
Dues will increase from $50 to $75 after many years at a low
rate. The Class of 2025 will be offered an incentive to pay their
2025-26 dues at a discounted rate prior to July 1, 2026.
Alumni Dues help fund our operations, newsletter, and offset
the cost of our alumni events, such as December's Jingle and
Mingle, our speaker lunch with Mike Sutton, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside at
Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant in November.
We are hosting Bus Tour 2.0 – Taste of Pasco, on Tuesday, March
25, so be sure to register at LeadershipPasco.com. The day will
begin with registration and networking at Wiregrass Ranch

people in the KNOW and tasting our way through central Pasco
County. Our tour will include stops with Pasco Schools, Speros
and the Moffitt Innovation Campus, The Legacy Wiregrass
Ranch and finish with a happy hour at the Wiregrass Ranch
Sports Complex. Along the way, you will learn about major
developments happening in Pasco County We hope you can join
us for this fun and educational tour.

Youth Alumni Voices: Josiah Mirville '25
By Josiah Mirville
Youth Leadership Pasco provides a unique and enlightening
experience for its members. My participation in the program has
offered various insights into aspects of our own community and
life beyond. One such insight is the importance of communication
and making connections. Youth Leadership Pasco has been
a place where students can open up and connect with others
from across the county, sharing experiences and developing
lasting relationships. Similarly, the program also advocates
for the importance of networking. Often times, all it takes to
start networking is simply to start talking, shake a few hands,
and say a few hellos. Through these little actions, we can begin
to make connections; connections that may open doors we
didn't even know existed, connections that bring perspectives
and opportunities for many of life’s paths. Furthermore, Youth
leadership Pasco has allowed me and others to take a deeper
dive into our community. We’ve had chances to see hidden gems
in businesses we never knew were here, but bring so much to the
table for Pasco County. We’ve gotten to see just how diverse our
government is and how much they do for us, for which we are
Josiah Mirville '25, Sophomore, Angeline Academy of Innovation
deeply grateful. When the time comes for us to graduate from this program,
we will not leave empty handed. Youth Leadership Pasco has pushed us
further on the road to becoming true leaders as we explore and begin to
grow our already amazing county.
Youth Alumni Voices: Sarah Guzman '25
By Sarah Guzman '25
Youth Pasco Leadership is a transformative experience that
solidified my passion for the medical field. Touring the hospital
and meeting healthcare professionals gave me valuable insight
into the compassion and teamwork required in healthcare. Visiting
the Sheriff’s office also showed me the importance of leadership
and service in supporting the community. Connecting with driven
students from across Pasco County and experienced professionals
has allowed me to network and motivated me to grow. This
experience gave me the confidence to pursue a career in healthcare
and make a meaningful impact within our community.
