The home you are proposing to purchase may have the appearance

THE 5 SIGNS
YOU ARE READY TO MOVE HOME...
As you can imagine, we meet a lot of people who have
reached the point when they realise they are ready to
move home.
Being ready to move is not the same as needing to move
– we have met couples who love where they live so much
they’ve hung on as long as possible! Being ready to move
comes in two forms – knowing you need to and finally
finding the emotional space to do so (this is often the case
with people downsizing) and just a sudden realisation that
your home isn’t working for you any more; your feet start
to itch and you find yourself browsing all the estate agency
sites as more than just a guilty pleasure.
Before you bring in an estate agent to value your home,
it’s wise to do a sense check with yourself – are you ready,
really ready, to move on?
So, what are the five signs you’re ready to move house?
Storage space frustrations
There comes a point when, no matter how ruthless you are
with decluttering, you simply have no more room to store
the stuff you want to keep. This often happens when one
becomes two (a couple move in together) or two become
three (the amount of stuff a baby needs is staggering – and
where on earth shall we put this pushchair?!)
Family expansion
Following on from the first point – when a new child
arrives, the need for an extra bedroom is often the
driver to start looking for a new home. Children can, and
do, share a room, of course – but as they get older this
becomes more problematic, so the question is move now,
or move later? Which leads us neatly to point 3…
School catchment
We all want the best schools for our children, but it’s
rarely something we think about till one of said children
arrives on the scene. Suddenly it’s all about Ofsted
reports, and can we walk to school? Also…
We need a garden
Again, it’s often the arrival of children that trigger the
desire for more outdoor space, but equally, for many
people there just comes a time in one’s life when sitting on
one’s own patio sipping an ice-cool beer holds more appeal
than a night out on the town. Yes, you’re at ‘that’ lifestage!
Bored, bored, bored
Remember the excitement of moving into your first home
– bought or rented? Once the opposite becomes true, and
you really simply fall out of love with where you live, it’s
time to make a fresh start. There are several symptoms of
home-boredom. The first is that you stop being so fussy
about the housekeeping (which is something you’ll need
to fix if you want to sell!). Whether it’s fixing chipped
paintwork, repairing a wobbly door handle or even dusting
into every corner, when you’re not house proud any
longer, you need to find somewhere else to be proud of.
Needing to move and being ready to move don’t always
coincide, so you need to be very sure you’re ready before
you start the ball rolling. Putting your home up for sale,
doing all the little jobs you need to do to make it viewerfriendly,
inviting people in to judge your home – it’s a lot,
and if you’re not absolutely sure now’s the time, you may
find yourself subconsciously sabotaging the process.
It definitely happens, trust us! The flipside of course is
that you simply can’t find anywhere you want to move
to – none of the houses you view feel ‘right.’ Again, this is
likely to be more an emotional response than a practical
one. How do you overcome this? Positive visualisation –
imagine the freedom you will feel when all the niggling
frustrations of your current home are lifted away.
Picture all that marvellous storage space. Imagine having
friends round to dinner. Plan a new bedroom décor, pick
new paint colours, open your mind… and your heart will
follow.

tremendous effort from the entire squad.
1st and 2nd Teams: Both teams retained their positions in their
respective divisions, narrowly missing promotion.
4th Team: A remarkable season with promotion secured,
showcasing some of the club’s promising young talents.
SOUTH WEST MANCHESTER
SUMMER TENNIS LEAGUE 2024
Ladies Teams:
2nd Team: Finished 5th in Division 3, thanks to consistent
performances from the squad. Special thanks to captain Debbie
Jordan.
1st Team: Unfortunately relegated from Division 1 due to
injuries and scheduling challenges. However, the team remains
determined to bounce back next season. Thanks to joint captains
Sarah Crooks and Louise Haslam for their leadership.
Men’s Teams:
1st Team: A highly competitive season in Division 1 saw the team
finish as runners-up. A commendable effort by the squad under
captain Matt Evans.
2nd Team: After a challenging start in Division 2 following a
promotion, the team rallied to finish 4th. Thanks to captain Rob
Clarke for his guidance.
3rd Team: Champions again, earning promotion from Division
5 to Division 4 and securing another trophy under Tim Manley’s
leadership. This marks two trophies for the 2023/24 season.
4th Team: Newly formed and led by Louis Ramsden, a returning
junior player. The team demonstrated great resilience, finishing
3rd despite tough competition from a relegated Division 3 team.
Louis’s commitment to fielding a consistent squad paid off.

SOME GREAT TIPS...
EDDIE’S BEST SLOW COOKED
BEEF RAGU RECIPE..
If you’re looking for a seriously good winter warmer,
perfect for family dining or when you have your friends
round, this is it. It’s rich, warming and filling and
pappardelle pasta is the perfect accompaniment as the
beef hugs the wide strips of chewy, satisfying pasta much
better than with a spaghetti or penne. Serves four.
You will need:
A large heavy bottomed pan, with a lid
• 1g braising steak, thick cut beef, cut into four equal
sized pieces
• 1 tbsp salt
• Fresh ground black pepper
• 3 tbsp light olive oil or sunflower oil
• 3 cloves garlic, crushed
• 1 medium onion peeled, sliced and finely diced
• 2 large carrot, peeled and finely diced
• 3 sticks of celery, washed and finely diced
• 1 tin chopped tomatoes
• 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, but I have found it brings
out the tomato flavour. If you’re unsure, wait until point
8, taste the sauce and add if you think you need it)
• 2 tablespoons tomato puree
• 1 beef stock cube
• 250ml rich red wine (I like the Jammy Red, from Aldi,
for this, but whatever merlot your supermarket offers
works. Buy one you like to drink, of course, to have
with your meal!)
• 375 ml water
• ½ teaspoon dried thyme, or pull the leaves from 3
springs of fresh thyme if you have it in the garden
• 500g pappardelle pasta
• A chunk of Grana Padano or Parmigiano-Reggiano
cheese, to finely grate
• Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, I usually forget!)
Method
1. Season your beef with the salt and pepper
2. Heat 1 tbsp of the oil in your pan, getting it really hot
3. Sear the beef in the hot oil. Be brave, you want it to
get really caramelised on the edges. It takes about 3-4
minutes, in total. When it’s done, remove the beef onto
a plate and set aside.
4. Lift the pan off the heat and allow it to cool for a few
moments, then add the rest of the oil, reduce the heat
to medium and return the pan to the heat. Tip in your
onion and gently fry for a couple of minutes, then
add the garlic, let this fry for a minute, then stir in the
celery and carrots. Turn the heat down a little and
gently cook through till everything has softened.
5. Add the tomato, wine, water, tomato puree, stock cube,
sugar and thyme, and warm through, stirring until your
stock has dissolved.
6. Return the beef and any juices to the pan, bring it all to
a simmer, then turn the heat down low and add a lid.
7. Let it cook out for TWO hours. The fragrance will soon
fill your kitchen and make you hungry, but this can’t
be rushed. Check occasionally to be sure it’s bubbling
very slowly – anything too fast will tighten the beef.
8. Lift out the beef onto a clean plate and shred it with
two forks. If it’s not quite ready, pop it back in the pan
for 15 minutes. Once the beef is shredded, tip it all
back into the pan, stir it through and let it simmer for
30 minutes, lid off, heat up a little to get it bubbling
gently. This will thicken up the sauce a little and soften
the beef even further.
9. Bring a pan of lightly salted water to the boil and
cook your pappardelle according to the maker’s
instructions.
To serve
When the pasta is cooked, lift it from the pan and lower it
directly into the ragu. Gently stir it around, then either tip
into a wide bowl and let your guests help themselves, or
if you have children, don’t. It can get messy, trust me!
Grate over fresh Grana Padano or Parmigiano-Reggiano
cheese and scatter some fresh chopped parsley on top.

HOW TO
PREPARE YOUR
HOME FOR SALE
When we value a property, we are always happy
to offer advice on how to maximise the likely offer
price and encourage a fast sale.
It’s not unusual, of course, for vendors to be
concerned about the cost of any changes we might
suggest, both in terms of money and time, but the
return on that investment could be significantly
higher than the outlay – again, in terms of both
money and time.
What must never be forgotten is that buyers who
are ‘looking for a project’ are not the norm. There
are some people, of course, who are proactively
seeking a property that can be described as in need
of a little (or a lot) of TLC, well aware that these are
the ones where they can negotiate a lower price, but
in our experience most buyers simply want to move
in and relax, happy in their new home, without a
whole list of jobs to do before they are content with
their decision.
One of the quickest ways to convince potential
buyers that they can do just that is to spruce up and
declutter. The latter is simple (well, simple-ish) and
requires little more than a collection of boxes and a
tough stance on whether to store, donate or throw
away.
The former – well, that can be less simple, but we
always start with paint. The first impression is
always the most powerful, so it’s important you look
at both the outside and the inside of your home as if
through a stranger’s eyes.
Touch up or completely repaint?
It may be that the outside of the house could simply
do with a good jet-wash and touch up. It’s best to
get advice from a professional painter, however.
External paint, once it starts to peel, is usually best
stripped back and re-done.
Assess your front door. We push through our doors
every day, but are always focussed on getting
34
JPandBrimelow.co.uk
through it, not on the door itself. It may be well
past time it had a good clean and a repaint!
Inside the house, the temptation will be to patch
over the worst bits, but this is likely to simply
draw attention to the tweaks you’re attempting
to make. Paint does change colour over time, so
even if you kept the pot, and it’s still viable, it’s
unlikely to wholly match the paint on the walls.
If your walls are looking a little tired, or the
fabulous mustard yellow in your living room
might turn off viewers, repaint the walls with a
neutral colour that will allow prospective buyers
to easily project their own style into the room
and imagine themselves living there.
Check your ceilings: We don’t look up often,
which means ceilings tend to get overlooked
when cleaning or decorating rooms. Visit each
room and have a good look up. There may be
cobwebs in corners, the remains of water-leak
stains, or fine cracks along joist lines that might
worry buyers.
If you have any questions about what you
should be doing to ‘stage’ your home for a fast
sale, always ask your estate agent. We see
what other houses in the area look like, we
know what buyers are seeking – and what they
want to avoid. We can tell you immediately if
cracking open the paint cans will be worth your
time, energy and money, or not. And we can
recommend local trades to help you out, too.
Look for these signs that
your home could do with a
fresh lick of paint:
• Paint is chipped, cracked or
stained (on the corners of walls,
where people grab doors, at the
end of the bannisters, etc
• White paint on your doors, window
sills and skirting boards has
yellowed over time
• The colours you have chosen
for your interior paintwork are
quite bold, so may not appeal to
everybody
• The exterior paintwork clashes
with the other houses in the area
– you might like to stand out from
the crowd, but most people like to
blend!
• The exterior paintwork is
noticeably weathered – a
prospective buyer doing a driveby
may take one look and assume
that chipped windowsills or a
dodgy door, or rendering that’s
not been fully painted, means
residents who haven’t kept up with
the level of care a property needs

SOME GREAT TIPS...
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: CREATING
A WELCOMING FRONT DOOR..
Your front door isn’t just functional – it’s the start of
your home’s story. It welcomes your family, sets the
tone for guests, and creates a lasting impression for
buyers.
The Power of First Impressions
In Manchester’s competitive property market, a
standout front door can make all the difference. A
freshly painted or well-maintained door signals care
and attention, while chipped paint or dated designs
can detract from your home’s appeal.
Show Your True Colours
Front door colours reflect your style and can
enhance your home’s value. Popular choices
include:
• Black: Timeless elegance, ideal for modern and
period homes.
• Blue: Peaceful and inviting, great for family
homes.
• Green: Symbolising nature, perfect for
connecting indoors and outdoors.
• White: Fresh and clean, signifying new
beginnings.
For a personal touch, opt for shades like Green
Smoke or Railings by Farrow & Ball to complement
your home’s character.
Materials That Matter
Choose a material that fits your lifestyle:
colours like green, pink, and amber create a unique
and welcoming glow.
Finishing Touches
Complete your entryway with thoughtful details:
• Doormat: Keep it clean and inviting.
• Greenery: Frame your door with potted plants or
shrubs.
• Hardware: Brass handles, knockers, or a
Manchester bee knocker add personality.
• Lighting: Warm sconces or lanterns enhance
evening curb appeal.
Small Changes, Big Impact
A well-designed front door isn’t just for kerb appeal.
It creates a welcoming space that reflects your
personality and adds value to your home. Whether
for family or future buyers, investing in your front
door is always worth it.
• Composite Doors: Durable and lowmaintenance,
perfect for modern homes.
• Solid Wood Doors: Charming and timeless, ideal
for period properties, though they require more
upkeep.
Add Character with Stained Glass
Victorian or Edwardian stained glass can be
restored or custom-designed to add charm and
reflect your family’s style. Bespoke designs with

MEET THE LOCALS...
PETS CORNER
Pets Corner is an animal sanctuary located in the heart
of Longford Park, that has been run entirely by volunteers
since 2014. We only manage to keep running thanks to the
generosity of our local community, whether that be dedicating
their time to volunteering, donating fruits and vegetables or
dropping a pound in our collection tin.
We are open everyday come rain or shine to make sure
our animals are kept happy, warm and healthy. We always
welcome visitors to come down to learn more about what we
do and meet our goats, chickens, rabbits and ducks.
We are currently raising funds for the winter ahead with our
Autumn Fundraiser on Sunday 29th September, 11am to 3pm.
We will have a tombola, goodies and a chance to learn more
about the animals.
See you soon!

CleverClear is a Greater Manchester based house
clearance specialist providing fast, eco friendly
disposal of any unwanted items for homeowners,
landlords, and property professionals. Whether you
require a full house clearance of a ‘hoarders house’
or the disposal of a single item, CleverClear are
experts in taking care of the whole process.
When buying, selling, or letting property, the
removal of any kind of accumulated and unwanted
items can be a logistically difficult and often
daunting task. CleverClear was founded by its
owners who have decades of experience in the
property and waste industry.
‘Our goal is to provide a great service, and to reduce
landfill’ says Kerry Murphy, one of the Directors of
CleverClear. ‘We do this by listening carefully to
our clients needs and by being meticulous in the
separating and sorting of items and materials so
that we can reuse, recycle, and donate as much
as we possibly can. We found that many people
became frustrated with charities and clearance
companies that would only pick and choose items
from a property, and not be able to fully solve a
clients problem. It just wasn’t helpful for them. They
were often selling a house, working to a timescale
and needed the property empty, and they required
a solution that simplified the whole task.
Once CleverClear has removed any items a
client needs taking away, our knowledgable and
energetic team then get to work reusing what we
can, recycling the various separated materials, and
donating anything useful to a network of excellent
charities. It can be a complicated task but we love
the challenge! We are often working for executors
of deceased estates, or with individuals who do
not live close by to the property, so it is extremely
important that we communicate clearly and
professionally, being aware of what sometimes can
be sensitive and stressful situations. We have a fleet
of specialised vehicles meaning that we never use
unsightly and inefficient skips, so once we leave a
property, it’s neatly swept and ready for sale.’
CleverClear will visit your property and provide
a free assessment and quote for your house
clearance, and they will take care to follow your
requirements exactly.

CHEESEMONGERS
Opening just a few weeks into the first Pandemic
Lockdown in 2020, Chorlton Cheesemongers were
blown away by the support of the local customers
and community that has continued to the present,
ensuring it remains the thriving independent business
it is today. Specialising in a selection of the most
exciting and delicious raw milk and pasteurised
cheeses currently being made, they focus on cheeses
of The British Isles and Ireland, with the addition of
some of the best regional examples from around
the world, along with complimentary products, and
organic seasonal veg and dairy.
Something a little different?
Chorlton Cheesemongers aim to give everyone
who visits the traditional full service shop a unique
and personal experience – ‘It’s a really important
part of what makes us different to other shops’ says
owner Chris Hallam, ‘We love to sample out every
product we sell so customers can try before they
buy, discover new tastes and favourites, and share
in our knowledge and passion for the unique stories
behind our delicious cheeses and the small producers
we work with. Here at Chorlton Cheesemongers
it is important for us to truly know all about our
cheesemakers, who they are, their history and
their cheesemaking processes so there is a direct
connection from them to you.’
Award Winning
Chorlton Cheesemongers are proud to have won a
number of awards and accolades since they opened,
including retailer of the year for Manchester Food &
Drink Festival, and most recently were named in The
Times and Sunday Times ‘7 Best’ series as one of the
top Cheese Shops in the UK and a reason to visit
the region! They have also been recognised for their
work in focusing on sustainability within business,
including championing Ethical and Sustainable dairy
and regenerative agriculture through the products
they sell.
Cheese for All!
As a specialist shop, people might think you have
to ‘know’ about cheese before visiting, but Chris is
quick to say this isn’t the case – ‘All you have to know
is what your taste buds like, and we’ll do the rest!
We love hearing what a customer enjoys and then
guiding them through the Cheeses that might match
on the counter. Giving someone a taste of something
they haven’t tried before and watching their eyes light
up is one of the best parts of our job.’
Every cheese is cut to order too, so whether you’re
looking for a bitesize snack or a stack of full cheeses
for a celebration, everything is possible.

WHY PADEL IS TAKING
MANCHESTER BY STORM
We’ve recently highlighted the benefits of exercise
for physical and mental health, and cold-weather
workouts can be especially rewarding. If you’re
looking for something fun, beginner-friendly, and
perfect for the outdoors, consider padel – a sport
that’s gaining huge popularity and is already big in
Manchester.
WHAT IS PADEL?
Padel is a racquet sport blending tennis and
squash. Played on an enclosed court about 25%
smaller than a tennis court, the game involves
bouncing the ball off walls as well as hitting it over
the net. It’s more about strategy and angles than
power, making it accessible for all skill levels. The
racquets are shorter and solid, with perforations,
and the balls are slightly larger and less pressurised
than tennis balls, creating a slower-paced game.
“Most people can
pick up padel in less
than an hour”
WHY IS PADEL SO POPULAR?
Quick to Learn: Most people can pick up padel
in less than an hour, unlike tennis, which can take
months to master. This makes it ideal for couples or
friends with different fitness or skill levels.
Dopamine Boost: Like any sport, padel triggers
adrenaline and dopamine, boosting energy and
creating a sense of reward. It’s highly addictive
because it’s so enjoyable.
Mind and Body Workout: Using walls to return
shots challenges your brain, while the slower pace
allows for longer rallies and sustained engagement,
making it a great all-around workout.
Just for Fun: Padel is less about intense
competition and more about having fun. It’s perfect
for social play, with plenty of laughs and lighthearted
competition.
WHERE TO PLAY PADEL IN
MANCHESTER
Club de Padel (City Centre): Multiple indoor
courts, equipment hire, and public matches for
meeting new players.
Pure Padel Manchester (Green Quarter): Indoor
courts with a café, equipment hire, and private
coaching.
The Northern Club (West Didsbury): Two covered
courts for year-round play.
Manchester Padel Club (Cheadle): Five outdoor
courts, coaching, and social events.
The Padel Club (Wilmslow): Four outdoor courts
(more coming soon) and a second club in Trafford
City with 11 courts planned.
Whether you’re looking for a fun new activity, a
great workout, or a social way to stay active, padel
is worth a try. Grab a partner, and discover why this
sport is sweeping the globe!

THE OLD TRAFFORD AREA
Old Trafford is an area of Stretford within in the
Metropolitan Borough of Trafford. It is arguably
most famous for being home to Manchester United’s
football stadium and Lancashire County cricket
club, but there’s more to the area than world famous
sporting landmarks.
Back in the 1820s, Old Trafford became the site for a
Royal Horticultural and Botanical Gardens. White City
Limited purchased the site in 1907 and subsequently
turned it into an amusement park. From the 1950s to
the 1970s White City Stadium was used as a racing
track for stock cars and greyhounds.
These days the site off Chester Road is home to White
City Retail Park which lies behind the original gateway
to the Botanic Gardens. There you’ll find a huge
number of big-name brands including Wren Kitchens,
Bensons for Beds, Oak Furnitureland and Sofology –
perfect for those planning some home improvements.
It’s a great place to do your food shopping thanks to a
M&S Foodhall, Aldi and an Iceland Food Warehouse
(although there’s a Sainsbury’s and a Tesco Extra 24/7
further down Chester Road towards Sale).
Having been at the forefront of the Victorian parks’
movement, Trafford has a historical association
with green open spaces. Local parks include the well
maintained Hullard Park which features a bowling
Old Trafford is ideal for those who require easy access
into Manchester by car, bus, or bicycle as it’s only a
couple of miles away. Drivers can also enjoy easy access
to the motorway network via the M60. The A56 passes
directly from Manchester through Old Trafford and
leads onto neighbouring areas including Stretford, Sale
and Altrincham. However, traffic can get quite busy on
match days.
If you’d prefer to hop on a tram, Old Trafford has its
own Metrolink stop, and it’ll take around ten minutes
to get into the city centre. Other nearby tram stops
include Trafford Bar and Firswood.
Old Trafford is also within walking distance from
Salford’s MediaCity, a creative and entrepreneurial hub
for technology, media, and data industries. Here you’ll
also find
The Lowry Outlet Mall, The Lowry Theatre and the
Imperial War Museum North on the banks of the
Manchester Ship Canal along with many bars and
restaurants. A short journey by car will take you
to the Trafford Centre, a huge shopping mall and
entertainment complex.
Cultural diversity has been a feature of the area for
over a century when Irish immigrants came over to
work on the Manchester Ship Canal in the 1880s. The
heart of modern-day
Old Trafford lies around
Ayres Road with its
variety of local shops

Caribbean and Asian
ingredients offering a
real flavour of the multicultural
nature of the
neighbourhood.

suitable for toddlers and younger children. Seymour
Park is approximately 15 acres and offers two play
areas for younger and older kids, a full-size football
pitch and basketball court, and is the location of Old
Trafford Youth Centre.
As Old Trafford is
relatively close to
central Manchester and there are good transport
connections to buzzing neighbourhood towns of
Stretford and Sale, it’s slowly becoming more popular
with young professionals, families and first-time
buyers.

THE STRETFORD AREA
independent bars like Longford Tap, Brewchimp
and The Hive, plus the new family-run Stretford
Canteen.
Stretford Foodhall is a trendy family and dogfriendly
community hangout incorporating a
licensed convenience store with pop up street
food vendors, as well as a bar, a coffee shop and an
interactive hub for workshops and events.
Although new public open spaces and green
areas are part of the plans for the proposed
redevelopment of Stretford, the area already boasts
lots of greenery and woodland. There are lots of
lovely walks to be had along the Bridgewater Canal
and the banks of the River Mersey. Local parks
and playing fields include Moss Park, Hoop Park,
Stretford Meadows and Turn Moss Fields.
Stretford is only four miles away from the city
centre, making it ideal for commuters and young
professionals. The A56 will take you straight into
the Manchester city centre within 20 minutes
by car or bus and the trip is easily achievable by
bicycle for an eco-friendlier journey.
Stretford also has its own dedicated Metrolink stop
making it easy to get to neighbouring Stretford
including Chorlton, Whalley Range, Moss Side,
Hulme, Salford, Urmston, Sale and, only a little
further beyond, Altrincham. Stretford is also very
near to the M60 making it easy to access the
motorway network.
Stretford town centre has benefitted from much
local investment in the past few years – and
there’s more to come. A huge multi-million-pound
masterplan to completely revitalise Stretford Mall
and the town is currently underway. This will include
the development of a new waterfront area along
the Bridgewater Canal, which runs through the
town, and will soon be home to many new bars and
restaurants.
You’ll find a wide range of shops in Stretford
Mall including national brands as well as smaller
retailers selling everything from records, comics,
gifts and beauty products. The Mall is also home
its own thriving food and drink scene. As well
as the ubiquitous Gregg’s and Costa, you’ll find
Longford Park is the largest municipal park in
the Trafford Borough and features community
allotments, a café and toilets, a wildlife garden and
even a pet’s corner. Events like an open theatre are
organised by the ‘Friends of Longford Park’, a group
of locals who work with Trafford Council to improve
and promote the park for all age groups. Victoria
Park is also popular with families and dog walkers
with lots of public sporting facilities, two ageappropriate
play areas, tennis and basketball courts,
a community-run tea room and a rose garden.
The area is home to many new apartment blocks
and developments making it an affordable option
for young professionals wanting to be near to a
major city. There are also lots of reasonably priced
terraced houses and semi-detached properties for
families hoping to get on the property ladder.
Stretford has a variety of ‘outstanding’ primary
schools including Moss Park and Victoria Park.
Stretford High School and Lostock High School
were both rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in their latest
inspections, as was Stretford Grammar School.
Stretford’s blend of green open spaces, community
activities, convenient transport links and thriving
hospitality scene make it an attractive area to suit all
sorts of people. The promised funding and plans for
its redevelopment improvements also make it likely
to be a wise investment for the first-time buyer.

Longford Park Junior Football Club was established

children in the Chorlton, Old Trafford and Sale area
access to football coaching and facilities to help
improve their overall health, confidence and skill
through the enjoyment of sport. In the years since,
the club has grown to having 7 established teams

We
doing our bit!
We have chosen a number of local charities and we have various
fundraising activities planned throughout the year.
Here at JP & Brimelow we
strongly believe in doing our bit
for the local community, clubs,
teams, schools and supporting
many varied charities over the
past 18 years. Over the last couple
of years amongst other things,
a number of staff members
from all offices took part in 1/2
marathons, 10k walks, triathlons,
golf days, cake making and many
charity auctions on behalf of local
children’s charities and we hope
to continue with raising funds for
worthy causes.
After 8 years of fundraising for St Ann’s Hospice, we couldn’t be more proud to announce that Eddie
Ellis has become an official Charity Business Partner. St Ann’s Hospice aim to meet the unique physical,
emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients with life-limiting illnesses and I look forward to working
together with Clare Henderson and her fantastic team raising vital funds for this incredible place.

How your fundraising makes a difference
£5 will pay for a meal for one of our patients at the
hospice. All our patients’ meals are prepared in the
hospice by our cooks and kitchen staff. Patients are given
a choice from the menu, but if they don’t fancy anything
on there, we’ll speak to them and make something they’d
like to eat.
£20 enables us to provide a complementary therapy
session for a patient or carer. At both our hospices
and from the Neil Cliffe Centre we offer complementary
therapies to patients and their carers. Complementary
therapy aims to help people relax and feel at peace
through sessions such as reiki, aromatherapy or massage.
£25 could pay for an appointment for a patient with
one of our hairdressers. It’s important for our patients
to feel like themselves and look how they want to.
Patients can visit our hairdresser onsite at the hospice
and he’s experienced in looking after people who might
be experiencing hair loss as part of their condition or
treatment.
£30 will pay for an hour’s bereavement session for a
loved one with our Patient and Family Support Team.
Our team will support our patients loved ones and can
help with things like explaining what is happening to
young children. We’re here for our patients families for as
long as they need us.
£50 will provide a patient with an hour of treatment
with our lymphedema, physiotherapy or occupational
therapy teams. These services aim to give patients the
best quality of life and are bespoke to each patient’s
needs.
£100 will allow us to provide vital transport for patients
to attend our services. Transport is in particular for our
day therapy patients, meaning they can be picked up
from their home by our friendly drivers accompanied by a
nurse, and feel safe, secure and comfortable in getting to
the hospice.
£200 pays for a St Ann’s community team member to
visit a patient in their home. Our community team work
across Salford and Trafford, providing care in people’s
own homes. This includes nursing care, emotional and
practical support.
£300 enables a patient to attend one of our day
therapy sessions to improve their quality of life. Our
patients in day therapy will receive care from doctors and
nurses, as well as having the chance to take part in arts
and crafts activities, physiotherapy sessions and have a
lovely three course meal.
£450 will pay for an intensive course of 9
lymphoedema treatments for a patient. Helping to
manage swelling, improve quality of life and self-esteem.
It costs £500 a day to care for one of our patients
on our in-patient ward at the hospice. This includes
the care they receive from our doctors and nurses, as
well as from our other services such as physiotherapy,
complementary therapy and support from social workers
and chaplain.
£1,000 will pay for our Hospice@Home team to visit 5
patients, supporting people who may prefer to be cared
for at home.
£1,100 pays for us to provide all our services for one
hour.
£2,500 will pay for 5 days of specialist palliative care
for one of our inpatients and their loved ones.
£3,600 will pay for a 12 week day therapy programme
for one of our outpatients, providing care as well as
companionship.
£7,300 will pay for 365 complementary therapy
sessions, helping patients and their carers to relax
£20,000 is what our Fundraising Team needs to raise
each day, to cover the costs of all of our services.
That includes our day therapy, inpatient and outpatient
services and our Hospice at Home team from our three
sites in Little Hulton, Heald Green and at the Neil Cliffe
Centre.

COMPLETE YOUR ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING
VERIFICATION AND ENJOY FREE MEMBERSHIP
BENEFITS WITH OUR PARTNER, LIFETIME LEGAL.
To get your sale or purchase underway, we must confirm your
identity and, if selling, property ownership to comply with HMRC
legislation and prevent criminal activity. These legally mandated
checks are carried out by our partner Lifetime Legal, for which
there is a nominal charge of £60 (including VAT), which you pay
directly to them.
Step One
We will schedule a two-hour time frame for the Lifetime Legal team to call you at a
convenient day and time. Please keep your smartphone and two forms of ID, such as a
passport and driving licence, nearby. If you're selling a property, they will also need to
verify your property's ownership with the Land Registry.
Step Two
After the call with Lifetime Legal, each person will receive a text or email with a link to
download the Credas app to verify their ID. If you don't have a smartphone, Lifetime
Legal will guide you through alternative methods. You may also be asked to provide
further documentation, depending on the sale or purchase circumstances.
Step Three
After your identity and, if selling, property ownership, have been verified, we can
move forward with your property transaction. As part of the service, you will be

"A quick appreciation note for the
excellent service from your company
which really helped us during our home
extension project - we had two Mobile
Self Storage Units; one long term since
last summer and another shorter term
in the last couple months. It was so
much more conveneint than having to
hire a van. Very impressed with the
service and we’ll definitely recommend
you. Happy to add a review somewhere
