EMBRACING THE
YEAR OF THE SNAKE
Jovi Hoonjan
As we step into the Year of the Wood Snake, we are invited to embark
on a shamanic journey of profound growth and transformation.
The Wood Snake, revered for its wisdom, intuition, and adaptability,
brings a unique energy that encourages us to shed old patterns and
embrace new beginnings. It’s also known for
1. Transformation and Renewal: The snake's ability to shed its skin
symbolizes transformation and renewal. This energy encourages us
to let go of the past and embrace new opportunities for growth and
change.
2. Healing and Rejuvenation: The snake is often associated with
healing and rejuvenation. Its energy can help us heal old wounds,
both physical and emotional, and promote overall well-being.
3. Protection and Guidance: The snake is seen as a protector and
guide in many cultures. Its presence can offer a sense of security
and direction, helping us navigate through life's challenges with
confidence.
4. Mystery and Exploration: The snake's connection to the earth and
its ability to move silently and gracefully make it a symbol of
mystery and exploration. This energy encourages us to delve into
the unknown and discover hidden truths about ourselves and the
world around us.
5. Balance and Harmony: The snake's movement and behaviour often
represent balance and harmony. Its energy can help us find
equilibrium in our lives, fostering a sense of inner peace and
stability.
On a personal note, during my shamanic alchemy sessions with clients,
the presence of the snake often signifies the need for a DNA upgrade.
In 2025, the Wood Snake's influence will guide us to explore deeper
aspects of our spiritual and personal lives. This year is an opportune
time to cultivate inner wisdom, trust our intuition, and make thoughtful
decisions.
4
I’ve created a 5-day ritual to embrace the year of the snake at the end
of this article.
The Wood Snake's energy supports meticulous planning and strategic
thinking, making it an ideal year for setting long-term goals and
working towards them. Remember also, it will happen in divine timing -
when you are ready for the change. Create the vision and allow it to
unfold gently.
To harness the rewards of the Wood Snake, consider incorporating the
following shamanic practices into your daily routine:
Mindful Meditation
Spend time each day in quiet reflection, allowing your intuition to
guide you. This practice helps you connect with your inner self and
gain clarity on your path.
Nature Connection
Engage with the natural world to ground yourself and gain clarity.
Walking barefoot on the earth, sitting under a tree, or simply observing
the beauty of nature can help you feel more connected and balanced.
Personal Growth
Set clear intentions and take deliberate steps towards selfimprovement.
The Wood Snake's energy supports personal
development and encourages you to embrace new opportunities for
growth.
Creative Expression
Explore new creative outlets to express your inner wisdom and
insights. Whether through art, writing, or other forms of creativity, this
practice allows you to tap into your unique gifts and share them with
the world.
By aligning with the Wood Snake's energy, we can navigate 2025 with
grace and purpose, unlocking the potential for profound personal and
spiritual growth. Embrace this journey with an open heart and mind,
and let the wisdom of the Wood Snake guide you to new heights.
5
5-Day Ritual to Embrace Snake Potential and Wisdom
Day 1: Awakening the Serpent Within
Begin with a grounding meditation. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and
visualise a serpent coiled at the base of your spine. As you breathe deeply,
imagine the serpent slowly awakening and rising up your spine, bringing with it
a sense of awareness and potential.
Spend time journaling about areas in your life where you seek transformation
and growth. Reflect on the qualities of the snake—wisdom, adaptability, and
renewal—and how you can embody these traits.
Day 2: Shedding Old Skin
Take a cleansing bath with sea salt and essential oils. As you soak, visualize
yourself shedding old patterns and beliefs that no longer serve you, just as a
snake sheds its skin.
Write down any limiting beliefs or habits you wish to release. After your bath,
safely burn the paper as a symbolic act of letting go.
Day 3: Embracing Intuition
Create a sacred space with candles, crystals, and any items that resonate with
you. Sit in meditation and focus on your third eye chakra, the centre of intuition.
Visualise a serpent's eye opening, bringing clarity and insight.
Throughout the day, pay attention to your intuitive nudges and inner guidance.
Trust your instincts and make decisions based on your inner wisdom.
Day 4: Connecting with Nature
Spend time in nature, preferably in a place where you feel a strong connection
to the earth. Walk barefoot, sit under a tree, or simply observe the natural world
around you. Imagine the serpent's energy flowing through you, grounding and
centering you.
Collect natural items like stones, leaves, or feathers that you feel drawn to.
Create a small altar or sacred space with these items to honour your
connection to nature and the serpent's wisdom.
Day 5: Integration and Renewal
Perform a fire ceremony. Write down your intentions for the future and any
insights gained during the past four days. Safely burn the paper, allowing the
flames to transform your intentions into reality.
Spend time in quiet reflection, integrating the lessons and wisdom of the
serpent. Meditate on how you can continue to embody the qualities of the
snake in your daily life, embracing transformation, adaptability, and inner
wisdom.
Embrace each day with an open heart and mind, and let the wisdom of the
serpent guide you on your journey of growth and transformation.

PAST LIFE
REGRESSION THERAPY
Sophia Steeden
What is Past-Life Regression Therapy & How Can it Help?
Past life regression (PLR) is a gentle healing technique that takes you on a
hypnotic journey, safely into a past life time. It can help people access their
past life memories, to aid healing in this lifetime. Hypnotherapy is a powerful
therapeutic tool that deals with the causes of problems rather than the
symptoms and is a safe and natural method of treating a wide variety of
conditions, for both adults and children. With PLR I use it to create a state of
total physical and mental relaxation and heightened awareness (trance state),
which allows the conscious mind to be bypassed and leaves the subconscious
mind open and ready to explore possible passed lives.
How it works
Past-Life Regression hypnotherapy is a powerful way to create deep healing
and transformation in just one session. This technique helps you to access the
deepest parts of your subconscious mind to tackle problems at their root,
leading to lasting change. By facing core issues from your soul’s past, you can
release emotional blocks, heal trauma, and gain insights into current
relationships, empowering you to live a more fulfilling life. During a PLR
session, the client is guided into a relaxed, meditative state where they can
recall past lives. The person may experience vivid images, sensations, and
emotions from their past lives.
The benefits of Past-Life Regression Therapy
PLR can help people:
Gain insight into their core beliefs, behaviours, and relationships
Address unresolved trauma or phobias that may have originated in a past
life
Identify and address unresolved issues from past lives that may be
affecting their current life
Connect with a higher consciousness and experience spiritual insights
Find information that can help them understand their life's purpose
Recognise physical ailments that may be remnants of past life experiences
PLR can help people acknowledge and embrace the lessons learned from
past lives, and use these to improve current situations
8
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 30
Can everyone be regressed?
As with anything, PLR is not for everyone, so before your first session, you
will be asked about yourself, your personal history and what you are hoping
to achieve. The session(s) will ultimately work out for the best if you
provide your therapist with any issues you may wish to address in your
session. There is no guarantee that you can access a past life memory;
success is about your soul’s readiness, your openness, and your willingness
to explore & change. Each person is unique, so each session is different.
What can I expect during & after a session?
Past Life Regression Therapy can bring traumatic events to the surface, and
it is how you use these memories that will help your understanding of who
you are now, and use it to grow; your therapist will be with you every step
of the way, helping you to make sense of the situation. It is also quite a
fascinating thing to delve into if it awakens your curiosity, especially if you
feel as if you have had other life memories. It can help you bring insight
into who you are and help you explore the life/lives you have had formerly.
You may gain many new perspectives, such as helping you to understand
and resolve current relationships, unravel emotional problems including
phobias and compulsions, and heal physical symptoms. All from reexperiencing
and processing a past memory.
So whether you are just curious as to what your previous lives have been,
or whether you have a specific issue you want to look at understanding, or
resolving, Past-Life Regression therapy might be for you.

EXPLANATION OF
THE ‘CLAIRS’
Sue Penney
In the realm of psychic phenomena and extrasensory perception
(ESP), the term “clair” is often used as a prefix to describe
different types of intuitive abilities.
Derived from the French word “clair,” meaning “clear,” these
abilities are said to allow individuals to perceive beyond the
ordinary five senses. While often linked to metaphysical or
spiritual practices, these phenomena are also deeply personal
experiences for many individuals. Below, we explore the
definitions of the main “clairs” and provide real-life examples of
their manifestation.
Clairsentience: "Clear Feeling"
Clairsentience refers to the ability to sense emotions, energy, or
physical sensations from people, places, or objects. A
clairsentient individual may feel another person's pain or joy as
though it were their own. These individuals are also known as
empaths.
Real-Life Example:
A well-documented case involves Anne Jirsch, a professional
intuitive who describes being overwhelmed by a deep sense of
sadness while visiting historical sites. She later discovered that
these places were scenes of significant tragedies, such as
battlefields or disaster zones. Anne’s experiences highlight
clairsentience as an intense emotional connection to past
events.
Another example involves a firefighter named Mark who
reported feeling an overwhelming sense of danger moments
before entering a burning building. His heightened awareness,
which he attributed to an intuitive feeling, led him to evacuate
his team before a structural collapse occurred.
10
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Clairvoyance: "Clear Seeing"
Clairvoyance is the ability to perceive visual information beyond the
ordinary range of sight. This could involve seeing distant events, spirits,
or symbolic images that convey hidden knowledge.
Real-Life Example:
Edgar Cayce, often called the "Sleeping Prophet," demonstrated
clairvoyant abilities through vivid visions while in a trance state. He
accurately described medical conditions and treatments for people he
had never met, often with details later verified by doctors and patients.
His case remains one of the most compelling examples of clairvoyance.
Another example is the case of a woman named Emily, who claimed to
have seen vivid images of a car accident involving her friend hours
before it occurred. Emily’s warnings led her friend to change her travel
plans, avoiding a potentially life-threatening situation.
Clairaudience: "Clear Hearing"
Clairaudience is the ability to hear messages or sounds not audible to
others, such as voices from spiritual entities or intuitive guidance.
Real-Life Example:
Theresa Caputo, known as the "Long Island Medium," frequently
recounts hearing clear, distinct messages from departed loved ones
during her readings. One instance involved relaying a specific phrase to a
grieving mother that matched her late son’s parting words, providing
comfort and validation of Theresa’s ability.
In another case, a musician named David reported hearing an unfamiliar
melody in his mind that later inspired one of his most successful
compositions. He described the experience as receiving music from an
external source.
Claircognisance: "Clear Knowing"
Claircognisance is an intuitive knowledge that appears spontaneously
without logical reasoning. Individuals often describe it as a “gut feeling”
or an “epiphany.”
Real-Life Example:
Steve Jobs credited intuition—a hallmark of claircognisance—for many of
his groundbreaking innovations. He described moments when ideas came
to him fully formed, leading to revolutionary advancements in
technology. This "knowing" without deliberate thought exemplifies how
claircognisance can shape creativity.
A personal account involves a teacher named Maria, who felt a sudden
and inexplicable urge to check on a student during a break. She
discovered the student experiencing a medical emergency and was able
to provide timely assistance.
11
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Clairalience: "Clear Smelling"
Clairalience involves perceiving scents that are not present in the
physical environment, such as smelling flowers or perfume associated
with a deceased loved one.
Real-Life Example:
Many individuals have reported experiencing unexplained scents linked
to their loved ones who have passed away. For instance, a woman named
Sarah described smelling her grandmother’s signature lavender perfume
during times of distress, interpreting it as a comforting sign of her
presence.
In another account, a man named Alex reported smelling cigar smoke in
his office, which he associated with his late father who was known for
smoking cigars. The scent appeared during moments of significant
decision-making, which Alex interpreted as guidance from his father.
Clairgustance: "Clear Tasting"
Clairgustance is the ability to taste substances without physical contact,
often described as a “psychic taste” connected to spiritual messages or
energies.
Real-Life Example:
A medium named John Holland has shared experiences of tasting specific
foods during readings. In one case, he described the flavour of a unique
family recipe, which resonated with the client as a favourite dish
prepared by their late mother.
Similarly, a woman named Laura reported tasting the distinct flavour of
her grandmother’s homemade jam during meditation, which she
interpreted as a message of love and encouragement.
Conclusion: Personal Insights into the "Clairs"
The “clairs” represent a fascinating and deeply personal aspect of human
perception. Real-life examples like those above provide anecdotal
evidence of these abilities, offering comfort, insight, or guidance to those
who experience them. While scientific validation remains limited, these
stories highlight the profound impact of the "clairs" on individual lives.
Whether viewed through a spiritual lens or as an extension of
heightened sensitivity, the "clairs" continue to intrigue and inspire
curiosity about the depths of human intuition and connection.
By exploring these abilities further, we may uncover new dimensions of
perception and understanding that bridge the gap between science and
the metaphysical.

HISTORY OF SACRED
STONES IN THE UK
Sue Penney
The British Isles are home to a rich tapestry of ancient
history, much of which is tied to the sacred stones
scattered across its landscapes. These stones, often
steeped in myth and mystery, have served as centres of
spiritual activity, markers of celestial events, and symbols
of cultural identity for millennia. Understanding their
historical significance and uses offers a window into the
lives of ancient communities and their relationship with
the natural world.
The Origins of Sacred Stones
Sacred stones in the UK date back to the Neolithic period
(circa 4000-2500 BCE), a time when early agricultural
communities began erecting stone monuments. These
stones often formed part of megalithic structures,
including standing stones, stone circles, and dolmens.
Archaeological evidence suggests that the stones were
carefully chosen and positioned for their symbolic and
functional purposes.
One of the most well-known examples is Stonehenge in
Wiltshire. Constructed in stages over several centuries,
this prehistoric site features massive sarsen stones and
smaller bluestones arranged in a circular formation. Its
construction highlights the technical ingenuity and
spiritual devotion of its creators.
Religious and Ceremonial Uses
The sacred stones often served as focal points for
religious rituals and ceremonies. For ancient communities,
these stones were believed to act as intermediaries
between the earthly and the divine. Stone circles, such as
Avebury in Wiltshire, were used for gatherings, rites of
passage, and seasonal festivals.
16
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Evidence of ceremonial activity is found in the alignment of many stone
structures with celestial events. For instance, Stonehenge’s orientation
toward the solstices suggests its use as a temple for sun worship or a
calendar for agricultural practices. Similarly, the Callanish Stones in
Scotland align with lunar cycles, indicating their role in tracking celestial
movements.
Oral traditions and folklore also link sacred stones with druids, the
spiritual leaders of Celtic societies. Although direct evidence of druidic
use is scarce, their association with these monuments reflects their
enduring mystical significance.
Burial and Ancestral Worship
Many sacred stones in the UK are closely associated with burial
practices and ancestral veneration. Dolmens, such as Pentre Ifan in
Wales, functioned as tombs for the dead. These megalithic structures
often contained human remains and grave goods, highlighting their role
in funerary rites.
Standing stones were sometimes erected to commemorate ancestors or
significant events. They served as physical markers of lineage and
continuity, connecting communities with their heritage and the land.
Legends often attribute the stones to giants, gods, or mythical heroes,
further embedding them in the cultural consciousness.
Markers of Territory and Trade
Sacred stones also had practical uses as territorial markers and
waypoints. In the absence of written records, standing stones provided a
visual and enduring means of defining boundaries or guiding travellers.
For example, the Rudston Monolith in Yorkshire, the tallest standing
stone in the UK, may have served as a landmark for ancient routes.
Additionally, the distribution of certain types of stones, such as the
bluestones at Stonehenge, indicates long-distance trade and exchange
networks. These stones were transported over vast distances,
suggesting their cultural and spiritual value to the communities that
used them.
Healing and Magical Properties
Throughout history, sacred stones have been attributed to healing and
magical properties. Many stones were believed to possess energies that
could cure ailments, protect against harm, or bring good fortune. For
instance, the Men-an-Tol in Cornwall, a holed stone, was thought to
have healing powers, particularly for children and fertility issues.
Folklore often describes stones as having transformative abilities, such
as turning into humans or animals under specific conditions. These tales
underscore the deep sense of wonder and reverence that ancient
communities held for these monuments.

Best Sacred Stone Sites to Visit in the UK
Stonehenge, Wiltshire
One of the most famous prehistoric monuments in the world,
Stonehenge's massive stones are aligned with the solstices,
offering a glimpse into ancient engineering and spiritual
practices. Visitors can explore its museum and learn about its
fascinating history.
Avebury Stone Circle, Wiltshire
Larger and older than Stonehenge, this vast stone circle is part
of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can walk freely
among the stones and explore nearby prehistoric landmarks like
Silbury Hill and West Kennet Long Barrow.
Callanish Stones, Isle of Lewis, Scotland
These enigmatic stones are arranged in a cruciform pattern and
align with lunar cycles, set against the stunning backdrop of the
Outer Hebrides. Their remote location adds to their mystical
allure.
The Rollright Stones, Oxfordshire
This collection of three ancient monuments—the King's Men,
the Whispering Knights, and the King Stone—is steeped in
folklore and offers a serene setting for exploration.

Preservation and Modern Significance
Today, the sacred stones of the UK continue to capture the
imagination of people worldwide.
They attract tourists, archaeologists, and spiritual seekers who
are drawn to their historical and mystical allure.
Efforts to preserve these monuments, such as UNESCO’s
designation of Stonehenge as a World Heritage Site, ensure
that their legacy endures for future generations.
Modern celebrations, such as the summer solstice gatherings at
Stonehenge, reflect the enduring spiritual connection many feel
toward these ancient sites. They serve as a reminder of
humanity’s long-standing relationship with nature, time, and the
cosmos.
Conclusion
The sacred stones of the UK are more than just remnants of the
past; they are enduring symbols of the ingenuity, spirituality,
and cultural richness of ancient societies. From their use in
religious rituals and celestial alignments to their role in burial
practices and folklore, these stones offer a profound
connection to history.
As we continue to study and celebrate these monuments, they
remind us of the deep-rooted human desire to understand and
honour the mysteries of existence.

ARCHANGEL MESSAGES
AND COLOURS (2)
Carol Coggan
Introduction
The Angels have asked me to share with you cards
from the Angels and Auras deck. This will be
throughout the year. But in case you missed the
last issue, I shall repeat the way to use these cards.
As you look at the Archangel cards, notice the
colour of each Archangel and notice especially how
you are affected by that colour. I have also drawn
an accompanying card for each specific Archangel.
I suggest you sit quietly and call in your Guardian
Angel and Angels, and really look at the cards and
see what speaks to you. The Angels may speak to
you through colour, or a particular word or parts of
the image.
The Angel message may vary depending on when
you look at the card; so hopefully you are still using
Archangel Sandalphon and Archangel Uriel (red)
from the January/February issue.
You will see the message varies for you specifically,
although you are reading this in the Alchemical
Voice.
You will also see on the cards some positive words,
and then some negative words upside down. These
negative words are the shadow side, and if you find
you resonate with these negatives, then you can
definitely work with the Archangel to heal and
transform to the positive energies.
20
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
March and April
Archangel Raziel has come in for this issue, the start of
spring! Archangel Raziel helps us with our spiritual
understanding. He is often described as the Merlin of
the Archangel realm. He will help you understand
whatever you are trying to learn. He understands all the
secrets of the Universe and how they work, and helps
increase our spiritual awareness and self-understanding.
How does this relate to our everyday life? as you can
see the positive words are: enlightened, adaptable,
soulful, and, connected. This especially is connection to
the Universe and its energies. The underside is
sceptical, rigid, materialistic and detached. This shadow
side suggests you may be too focused on the material
world, too busy looking down at what is happening on
Earth, too involved in your stories, or catastrophes, and
forgetting to look upward for assistance from the
Divine and the Angels.
If we are too materialistic then the energy is blinkered
and you will find the Law of Attraction limited. Like
attracts like, so worry and negative energy will attract
more of the same. Take time out and before you go to
sleep ask Archangel Raziel to step into your dreams and
assist you.
Rainbow is the colour of enlightenment. I like to think
the different colours/facets of the rainbow are with us
as we play many different roles in the day. So you may
choose all the colours or specific ones. You may also
choose to visualise the rainbow as the bridge back to
your soul, your connection to the Universe and your
connection to joy.
Everything’s Okay card has appeared as you work with
Archangel Raziel. Whether you feel connected or
disconnected at this time, you can rest assured that the
Universe/Divine is there for you, and everything is
okay. So as you work with Archangel Raziel, he helps
your spiritual understanding and connectedness, the
Universe is also there supporting you throughout. You
do not need to ‘beat yourself up‘ or criticise yourself for
any lapses. It is all as it is meant to be. 444 is a number
to show that the Angels are all around, and the
important message is “that you are not alone“. Just call
on them at any time.
21
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
March and April (Continued)
The second Archangel who has stepped in to work with you at this time is Archangel Raphael.
You will often have read or heard me talking of Archangel Raphael, as I work with him a lot, especially in
his healing capacity. He will help you heal in all areas of your life: physical, emotional, mental, and
spiritual. Often we focus on physical healing, but he is there for our total healthfulness, including our
emotions. We can often see our physical healing, but take time out to consider any emotional healing
you need and ask Archangel Raphael.
Archangel Raphael is also known as the Archangel of travel, and in matchmaking. Ask for his help as
you travel, whether it be in this country or abroad. He will be there. I like to think of him as a passenger
in my car as I am driving, along with other Archangels, and we are all having a “laugh“. This lightens any
worries and shows the Archangels sense of humour.
Brilliant Green is the colour of communication and creativity. Green as you know is the colour of
nature, it is also the colour of the heart chakra, hence Archangel Raphael‘s ability to matchmake. Green
is a motivated colour, and is full of life (although giving us calm in nature) and can inspire us to new
experiences like travel, art and culture.

THE SHOP OF
FEELINGS
It was Friday and the staff had their usual end-of-week meeting, drinking coffee and talking about
the week that had just gone by. They were all amazed at the current trends, where feelings like
“hate”, “envy” and “offence” were constantly selling really well whereas “love”, “compassion” and
“respect” were difficult to sell even on sale.
They were of course happy to have good sales figures. However, they had an ambition to promote
pleasant and constructive feelings and emotions. High sales of “hate”, “envy” and “offence” did not
fulfil that ambition. So what to do?
Keep in mind that there is a difference between ‘feelings’ and ‘emotions’. Feelings are experienced
consciously and often influenced by personal experiences, basic beliefs and values. They often stay
with you for an extended period of time. Examples are affection and empathy. Emotions happen on
a subconscious level. They are connected to fight or flight and what we need for survival. Examples
are anger and surprise.
In this text, I do not make a strict difference between ‘feelings’ and ‘emotions’ but allow them to
overlap. I am not a neuroscientist and the purpose of this story is on a spiritual level rather than
scientific.
The staff in our imagined shop began by analyzing the situation. They understood that destructive
feelings often originate from other feelings, such as fear, anger and a sense of inadequacy. People,
who feel unable to deal with stress or sense that they have been treated unfairly, often lash out.
They project their anxiety onto other people, they pass on the blame, and they are jealous. They
see life as a zero sum game, meaning their misfortune is somebody else’s fortune. They compare
themselves to successful people or to their own dreams and aspirations. When the comparison
does not turn out in their favour, they feel resentful, sometimes even vengeful.
The staff also realized that there is often more lure and “pull” in negative and destructive feelings
than in positive ones. A war movie in the cinema will often give you an adrenaline kick whereas a
romantic film will not. It is similar to the sugar rush you get from candy when a green salad might
leave you satisfied but not thrilled.
26
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
There is an expression that bad news travels fast. When you and your mates meet in the pub, and
somebody says “Did you hear the latest?” you can be sure that it is not anything positive they are
about to disclose. One reason for relishing over other people’s misfortune is the sense of relief
that you are okay, that nothing bad happened to you. Think of the expression “one man's loss is
another man's gain” and variations on it. The safety and comfort of your own home is even more
pleasant and enjoyable when you read that someone else’s house has burned down.
Another aspect of the interest in bad news over good news could be related to the origin of the
human race and what qualities were needed for survival. It was of much more importance to be
advised that a tiger was roaming the area around the camp, than to be told that pretty flowers
were growing nearby.
From a spiritual point of view, it is important to address the feelings and emotions that people
have subconsciously and even carry as a kind of cell memory in their bodies. In most parts of the
world, we no longer need to fear wild animals. Much of prehistoric fears are no longer relevant
today. Yet, I believe they may still linger in what might be called your ‘primordial memory’.
When I studied shamanism, I journeyed a lot to my ancestors and their ancestors to learn from
them. Some of them told me of their concern for me. They were anxious that I would be arrested,
and accused of performing black magic and witchcraft. I needed to soothe them by explaining that
times had changed, at least where I live, and I am free to practise shamanism with no fear of
condemnation or persecution.
So if we go back to the shop of feelings, what can they do to limit the sales of destructive feelings
and market pleasant feelings? I believe that one way to go about this is to acknowledge the innate
fears that we may carry as a memory in our cells. It may be fear of the unknown, of darkness, of
wild animals or fear of people that look “strange” or unfamiliar. It is important to address such
fears with a sense of respect and compassion and offer alternative feelings that are sweet and
benevolent.
Happy people who do not harbour fear nor suffer from disharmony or unbalance in their lives,
rarely subscribe to feelings such as hate and envy.
So one way is to teach people what “fear” is and how it can be dealt with. (See note 1 below)
27
An emotion can trigger behaviour. Likewise, behaviour can trigger an emotion. Fear can make you
clench your jaw muscles. The other way around, an actor trained in method acting might clench his
jaw muscles to create a sensation of feeling fear. By teaching people to mimic behaviour that
generates good feelings, the shop could begin to slowly turn things around and increase demand
for “love”, “compassion” and other pleasant feelings.
Something that many people find very frustrating is not knowing what is going on or what will
happen. People strongly dislike being out of control, not having information and being left in the
dark. It is important to work on those attitudes, to change the understanding of what “knowing”
and “not knowing” really means. Is it really necessary to always know the details of something or is
a general idea good enough? An American politician used to talk about “known unknowns” and
“unknown unknowns”. Maybe living in the moment is quite enough and to be preferred in many
situations. If we desperately want to define known and unknown unknowns, we could easily go a
little nutty. I am a strong believer in the importance of changing vantage points, revising definitions
and adjusting one's attitude.
When you steer your boat across an unknown ocean, all you can do is follow your instinct, look at
the stars and seek guidance from Spirit, nature and your ancestors. Never mind what the other
boats are up to. You have no idea what journey they are on, what their ambition is or even lack of
ambition. You must always follow your own path and what is right for you. At the same time, you
should respect others and feel compassion for them in their search for the path which is right for
them.
Hopefully, the little Shop of Feelings managed to contribute some guidance and understanding
amongst its clientele and increase interest in constructive feelings, higher values and indeed love.

“Ambulance.
Please hurry. It’s my
sister” Robert blurted out,
the terror and panic quite
obvious in his fast delivery
of the short sentence.
“What’s your location,
please” the call responder
asked.
“The end of Vine Lane,
Stoke D’Abernon, where
the path to the river is.”
He looked at Richard as if
for confirmation. Richard
nodded, his eyes wide and
his features pinched in
concern.
“Please hurry,” Robert
added, a sob catching in
his throat.
“I think she might be

The last was a plea

released from impotent

ATLANTIS 9,800 BC
THE FALL
Julie de Vere Hunt
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
The missiles had broken through the defence shields of Atlantis and were raining down on the capital city of
Atlas relentlessly. They were being fired from PA-99-N2, a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy which would not be
discovered by humanity for another 11,000 years.
The Atlanteans had sought shelter in underground nuclear shelters but the Andromedeans knew they could not
stay there indefinitely. Time was running out for the Atlanteans and the Dweller of Unal Temple would not
allow the Andromedeans to take over Atlantis. The Dweller would have to execute his evacuation plan.
Atlantis had long been a goal for invasion by the Andromedeans, offering a well-resourced planet with an
advanced civilization they could make good use of in their eternal quest to infiltrate and dominate other planets.
Planet Earth was also in their sights.
Atlantis was a highly desirable place to live, with many similarities to Earth. It consisted of a main continent and
chain of islands, with ten cities laid out in the Tree of Life formation. The land was surrounded by crystal clear
seas bordering on diverse landscapes. Towering mountains, lush forests and fertile soils ensured all its
inhabitants lived a good life.
Atlantis in Tree of Life formation – Island of Undal at the top
30
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Regulus B, part of a quadruple star system in the Leo constellation 79 lights years from Earth, was the
home of Atlantis. Poseidon was the first king of Atlantis. Poseidon had many lovers of both sexes and sired
over a hundred children. Poseidon had fallen in love with a woman called Cleito who lived on an isolated
island. Poseidon created a dwelling sanctuary at the top of a hill near the middle of the island and
surrounded the dwelling with rings of water and land to protect her. This island would become known as
Poseidon. She gave birth to five sets of twin boys; the first born, Atlas, became the first ruler of Atlantis.
Artist’s impression of Island of Poseidon
Atlantis was dotted with many temples dedicated to gods and goddesses. These sacred places were places
of worship, healing and magic, where priests and priestesses maintained the balance of natural and cosmic
forces. The temple of Poseidon was the most grand and ornate, but Unal Temple on the Island of Undal
was the most sacred place in Atlantis. Here Atlanteans would receive energetic activations to sustain their
high level of vibration, maintain the health of their energetic fields, and keep their chakras balanced and
open.
But some of the Atlanteans had become proud of their knowledge and achievements. They pushed the
limits of magic and technology, attempting to control forces beyond their understanding, delving into
forbidden regions. As fear rose consciousness fell - Atlantis was heading towards a civil war.
The Andromedeans fired the first missiles. The Dweller refused to retaliate, instilling fear into the
Atlanteans. Consciousness fell further and the Dweller called his three messengers and gave commands
which would result in Atlantis becoming uninhabitable.
31
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
He instructed Atlantean Priest-king Thoth to instigate the
evacuation plan and escort the sons of Atlantis to the land
of Khem (Egypt), along with all his records, powers and
instruments of magic. Thoth was immortal, and for some
16,000 years, Thoth had ruled the ancient race of Egypt,
from approximately 52,000 BC to 36,000 BC. Thoth was one
of the oldest deities in Egyptian mythology; the god of
writing, knowledge, wisdom, magic and the moon.
Most of Atlantis sank below the waves, but the Temple of
Unal survived with the Dweller and his three messengers,
deep in the Halls of Amenti below the Temple. The pathway
to the Halls was now only open to ascended masters.
Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite, who was a beautiful sea
nymph, retreated to their palace at the bottom of the ocean,
made of golden coral and gemstones.
The Atlanteans had been visiting Egypt for millennia – the
axis of the unity consciousness grid extended out of the
Earth from Giza. Thoth had built the Great Pyramid in Giza
some 6,000 years earlier in preparation for this – he was a
sixth-dimensional being so moving huge stones weighing
many tons was a process involving thought, feeling and
energy, not with manpower. This process would baffle
humanity for thousands of years.
The Dweller raised his spaceship from deep underground. It
was the size of two city blocks and was transparent, with its
shell just three to five atoms thick and powered by thoughts
and feelings. Thoth brought 5,000 Atlanteans to Earth in the
spaceship and landed on top of the Great Pyramid. They
went down through a tunnel to a room at the two-thirds
level of the pyramid. This room was made of red, white and
black stones, mirroring the primary architectural colours of
Atlantis. From this room Thoth had installed a fourth
dimensional passageway in order to descend to a temple far
below the pyramid.
This temple became known as the Halls of Amenti, a fourth
dimensional space located in the third dimension around one
thousand miles below the Earth’s surface. The Halls of
Amenti are the realm between the Omega point and our 3D
world. Reincarnation happens from within the Halls of
Amenti where souls attain a new physical body.

Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Poseidon’s seven sets of twins escaped from Atlantis with
Thoth; including the five sets of male twins who had ruled
the ten cities.
Poseidon had also sired two sets of male/female twins –
they would become known as Egyptian deities Osiris and
Nephthys and Seth and Isis; two sets of twins who have
been immortalised in Egyptian mythology. They brought a
highly prized possession with them, the Sphinx, to Giza in
Egypt.
The Sphinx has the Regulus star embedded in its chest to
remind the Atlanteans of home. Below the right paw of the
Sphinx lies a Hall of Records detailing the history of the
universe, including the intergalactic war between Atlantis
and the Andromedeans.
One day humanity would reach a high enough
consciousness to access these records.
One of Poseidon’s other sons would shape history in
Britain and become world famous.
He would spend many lifetimes in Cymru (Wales) as a bard,
prophet, seer, magician, shapeshifter and energy master.
His name was Taliesin, the father of Druidism. Along with
Merlin, they would become mentors to the twins of Mary
Magdalene.
‘What was lost can be found. What was broken can be healed.
But only through the unity of light and shadow will the eternal
balance be restored.’ The Dweller of Unal

HOW TO USE RUNES
AS MAGICAL TOOLS
Shaeen Svanede
Since the beginning of time, there has always been a need
to communicate with the divine. Although we do not know
for sure, people have probably always made amulets and
talismans to empower themselves - Indigenous tribes still
do. The Roman storyteller Tacitus who lived 100 AD noted
that people from the North were ‘throwing bones’ indicating
that runes were being used as fortune-telling tools and
perhaps even for casting spells. Some of us still pursue this
tradition.
I have used the Elder Futharc runes in divination and as
amulets for more than twenty years. I also use them to read
the character of a person, interpreting the meaning of each
rune in their nick-name. I consider them very accurate and
helpful. As I give seminars and workshops people are
astonished when they realise what the runes can do.
The Elder Futharc runes are also called the Nordic or the
Germanic Futharc, and consists of 24 runes. This runic
alphabet has been in use since around 150 BC. There was a
shift in the 8th century when we started using another runic
alphabet consisting of 16 runes. These latter runes are the
most common ones seen on the rune stones that we find all
over Sweden. The reason for this is that the original runes
were carved into bones and wood, therefore, those are rare
to find.
The word ‘Futharc’ means alphabet, since the first six letters
are ‘F’, ‘U’, ‘TH’, ‘R’, and ‘C’. Some of these runes can look
slightly different depending on where they are drawn. The
Futharc has actually been used by all Germanic people. The
order in which the letters appear in this alphabet can also
differ. Since I believe that we can work with any tool in
different ways, I believe that these differences do not
matter too much. The runes will work all the same.

insights and help you adapt to big changes.
Fehu / Feh
You can turn to this rune to be prosperous and to get help
with finishing something, might it be a project or a
relationship that needs to be ended.
For the magic to really start working I would suggest that
you work with the runes in a ceremonial way. There are
many ways to do this, and you should do it in the way you
feel most comfortable with. Call upon your helpers and
make sure that there is no harm made as you perform these
rituals.
See each rune as a helper, but keep in mind that you always
must take your own responsibility when asking for
something. First, you have to act accordingly for the
energies to dance with you. Listen to the messages from the
Universe, rest assured that you will be guided to where you
need to be.

Secondly, be careful with what you ask for. We do not
always know what is best for us, it might not be what we
wish for. Therefore, I always end my own spell-casting
ceremonies with words like; ”If it is according to the law of
the Universe, so mote it be.” Let the magic begin!

THE DESCENDED
DIVINES
Shaeen Svanede
Many of us are working consciously with beings from
other dimensions such as; guides, power animals,
angels and ancestors. I usually refer to them as ”My
Team”. But what are they really?
I was talking to a colleague and dear friend the other
day and as it happens ever so often when you talk to
someone something suddenly becomes very obvious.
It seems that when you hear your own words spoken
out loud you rediscover something that you have
always known.
At this particular moment, we discussed our children
as I heard an inner voice naming them ”The
Descended Divines.”
I have wondered from time to time if some of our
guides and helpers have been walking this earth or
not. And now this knowledge seemed to come out of
nowhere.
Our children are just that, descended divines or
guides. They come with their unconditional love to
pinpoint our shortcomings so that we can evolve as
beings.
I still remember when I was walking around with my
newborn son the night after delivery. I was so excited
I just could not sleep. Neither could he. We kept
looking each other in the eyes seemingly trying to
figure out who the other person was. And I just knew
that he had come to be my teacher.
40
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
This way of looking at it was new to me as prior to giving
birth I had thought that I would be the one teaching him
things. Now, I realise that he was already a wise being.
Of course, there were earthly things he would not know
about I thought to myself.
Then I had to reconsider because it became quite obvious to
me that he had been on this earth before. The only thing I
could actually teach him was how society seems to work
and not much more than that. As if I even understood that
myself…
Similarly to many parents, I altered between being the one
responsible for his well-being and observing him to learn
something new myself. I could only wish that I had been
more observant of his teachings than I have been.
Every child on earth is a descended divine.
The Bible says that Adam was created in the image of God.
Even the Norse Mythology tells how the first humans were
made by Odin and his brothers as their image.
The truth has always been staring us in the face and still, we
hardly think about it!
And even if we do not have a child of our own we can all
still learn from these youngsters. The earlier the better.
At a very young age, they still remember so much and this is
really the time for us to listen. As they grow we force our
preconceived notions and sometimes very inaccurate
interpretations of reality upon them.

When my son was around a year old I wanted to put him to
the test so I asked him; ”Where do you come from?” At first,
he replied; ”I come from your belly.” I asked him again and
he was still for a moment before replying with a serious
face; ”I come from the light.” And I just knew that this came
from another source.
Well if our children are descended divines, what are we? I
leave that thought to you…

MYTH, MYSTERY,
MAGIC AND MEANING
John Sjovik
Whenever I journey to the spirit world, I am met by
Bear. He usually gives me a hug and then offers me
freshly barbecued slices of pineapple served with
custard. For me, this is the most natural thing in the
world and I do not think twice about it. Yet, for people
of a less esoteric mind than mine, the scenario might
appear as somewhat out of the ordinary.
Many years ago, I rejoined a company that I had worked
for some years earlier. In the meantime, I had deepened
my understanding of Shamanism and developed a close
relationship with the spirit world and the animals and
other characters that inhabit it. When I returned to the
company and met my old boss again, he asked me what
I had been up to since we last worked together. I made
the mistake of telling him openly about my forays into
the otherworldly. He listened to me with restrained
patience. When I had finished telling him about power
animals and drum journeys, he took a deep breath of
relief and said “Well John, I think we should move on
and talk about the real world instead.” We soon got
emerged in contracts, project plans, forecasts and
budgets, all of which constituted the supposedly “real
world” and the only world according to my then-boss.
Many people are like him. We might as well realize that.
This means that they will have minimum tolerance with
talk about the first three of the four Ms in the title of
this article.
“Meaning” is enough challenging for them to discuss
and deal with. I am not saying this to be derogatory or
sound condescending. The vast majority of people are
good, honest, decent, compassionate and lovely to be
around. Many of them are just not terribly interested in
esoteric topics.
42
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Denotation and Connotation
Let us begin by looking at words. For many people, a word is
what it is. Popular explanations are often truisms. “Happiness”
means to be happy. A “car” is... well, a car. You can look up a
word in a dictionary. The explanation stated there is a
“denotation”, the literal definition of the word.
When I have tried to explain to workmates, friends and people I
meet what Shamanism is, I have often used words as
connotations. Connotation refers to a word’s abstract or
metaphysical meaning. The word ‘wolf’ invokes courage and
strength. I might add that the use of connotations has regrettably
not made it any easier for the non-initiate to understand my
explanation.
When exploring the mysterious and magical world of myth, it is
good to be reminded of the importance of connotations rather
than denotations when we express ourselves. Within spiritual
practices such as Shamanism, we often use words in their nonliteral
sense. That is one of the challenges when discussing
metaphysical concepts. They are difficult to express in human
language, given all its limitations and biases. To really grasp at
least some of the essence of the non-ordinary world, it is
important to use also non-verbal communication, such as
meditation, spending time in nature and observing birds and
other animals you come across on walks. Symbols, metaphors
and other signs are also important to pay attention to and think
about.
Myth
Beginnings
People created myths already thousands of years ago. Much of
natural phenomena must have seemed capricious and unreliable.
What was a solar eclipse? Would the sun return? What about
Aurora Borealis? And shooting stars, what were those? People
must have struggled to find explanations, to find comfort and
basic safety. They wanted to make some kind of sense out of a
confusing, frightening and harsh world, where survival was
already unpredictable and the future never reliable.
Myths could also function as educational stories and explain how
people should act and behave. They could even offer an insight
into why things existed at all. Myths offered a structure or
invisible foundation that could support the visible world.
43
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
This was the very beginning of a structured way to deal with
the contrast between the visible world and the notion of an
otherworldly aspect of existence. The invisible world was
beyond human perception but clearly had an impact on the
physical landscape.
A personal memory
There are innumerable definitions of the concept of ”myth”.
Let me make an approach from a personal memory.
When I was a child, my mother often talked about the
genealogy of my heritage and that I was a descendant of “Jon’s
people”, an early ancestor on my grandfather’s side of the
family. There were actually several men called Jon in the
history of my family, and the oldest I have found goes back to
the early 18th century.
My mother always talked about Jon in heroic terms, as if
referring to a legend. By being descended from him, I was
somehow “chosen”, destined for greatness and having unique
heritage that set me apart from other people. The whole story
made me feel awkward and confused. I never fully understood
what my mother meant. I felt that most people seemed nice
and decent. When I visited the homes of my mates, I thought
that they also had good families and I concluded that my
mother must be mistaken. Maybe my mates also had ancestors
to be proud of?
Be all of that as it may, but what my mother had told me was a
typical myth. The type of myth she related to me could be
called “sociological”. It referred to a particular group, a group
that my mother had named “Jon’s people”. There may well have
been similar myths in other groups, other families, with
different names but with the same type of stories and legends.
I remember an elderly acquaintance of mine who always talked
about her father with deeply reverent words, almost
sublimating him into a divine status.
A traditional myth will often include one or more gods.
Alternatively, a myth can involve a human being who is strong
spirited and displays larger than life qualities and abilities.
Instead of a god, one often talks about a ‘hero’.
You could also say that the myth my mother told me had the
mysterious Jon as metaphor for the father. That aspect
presents us with a heroic father figure, with all the makings of
metaphors for mystery and magic of the father, including the
animating ability that lies dormant within a man.
44
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Nature and Myth
Keep in mind that the development of a myth is highly
influenced by the climate, nature and habitat of the region
where the myth originated. This is particularly true when it
comes to the creation of myths and in particular those related
to animal and plant life. People who live in the jungles of
Indonesia will embrace a different mythology than people who
live in northern Scandinavia.
Because of this, it is even more amazing when we find similar
features in myths in completely different parts of the world.
One example is the serpent and the legends and lore related to
it. It appears in many creation myths around the world,
including traditions as wide apart as Norse mythology and
Aboriginal Australia.
Mystery and Magic
Mystery
With every myth, there is always a mystery. A mystery is
typically something that lies beyond human comprehension, yet
is important to people. It has an allure and beckons for our
understanding. A mystery is not just something that is strange
and not readily understood. There is a sublime quality to a
mystery, something that makes it worthwhile exploring. Finding
it difficult to grasp mathematical equations or learning how to
play a guitar is not a mystery. A mystery is not within the
boundaries of traditional skills and knowledge of people. It is
not something that lies dormant as a visceral awareness,
waiting to be stirred into consciousness.
Antiquity saw the rise of various pagan religions, known as
Mysteries. They were a source of wisdom and secret
knowledge and offered a way to achieve personal
transformation and attain spiritual enlightenment. Much of the
teachings happened through the telling of myths and acting out
of rituals connected to them. There was a profound meaning
hidden in the myths, which were then decoded and explained
to the students. The practice of the Mystery religions was
elaborate, and secretive, depending on the region and period.
Famous initiates into the Mysteries were the philosopher and
mathematician Pythagoras (6th century BCE) and the
philosopher Socrates (5th century BCE).
45
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Magic
With myth and mystery, there is often a desire to try and control it. People have often wanted to
dominate or subjugate aspects of the world around them. That is called magic or sometimes even black
magic.
Is the Navajo rain dance black magic? My answer to that question is that it comes down to the intention
of the ritual. Intention is a concept of great importance within all forms of interaction with non-ordinary
reality. A ceremonial approach, with humility and respect, to influence the forces of nature is not black
magic. The Navajo rain dance is a way to call upon the spirits, the nature gods, to help people feed
themselves by bringing rain so that corn can grow and animals and people can drink.
Mystery does indeed suggest magic. Think of the hero figure and the magical consequence of being the
chosen one. The hero typically possesses qualities that greatly transcend those of ordinary people.
46
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
The hero
The traditional male hero is a product of circumstances in nature or between
groups of people. We find the hero as a hunter. We also find him as a war
hero or the hero in sports, saving the team from defeat in the last minute.
Another form of hero is the female heroine. Her heroic stance comes from
biology and her position in the tribal community as the bearer of children and
bringing them up to take their place in the community. The woman hero may
not be as flamboyant and dramatic as her male counterpart. However, in
many ways, she may well be seen as even more important. Without new
children who are brought up to become responsible adults, the tribal
community risks collapse. When you think of it, bringing a new child into the
world is in a way to defeat death. The woman grows into a heroic creator of
life, which is a myth in itself.
To not exclude a very special form of hero, I should mention the legendary
female hero of war and struggle. We find her as the Valkyrie in Norse
mythology, there is the Celtic Queen Boudica and of course the French
heroine Joan of Arc.
The hero’s journey
A mystery with a hero typically consists of three phases: 1) the journey 2)
the quest for knowledge and search for an answer or a mission to achieve
something, and 3) the return.
Invariably, there is often risk included in the work of the hero. In some myths,
it is incumbent on the hero to perish when carrying out the act of heroism.
Sacrifice and heroism are often closely connected.
Compare this with the traditional journey of a practising Shaman. Using the
drum as a vehicle for journeying, there is the controlled descent to the Lower
World, then the search for answers or insights and then the careful ascent
back to our world or ordinary reality.
In this way, the Shaman can be seen as the hero and the Shamanic journey as
the mystery. Be reminded that all the elements of the mystery as well as of
the Shaman’s journey can, and even should, be seen as metaphors and
symbols. There is an alchemical quality to this type of work. The important
aspects are transformation and transmutation.
There are many tales with this set-up. The hero leaves the home or tribe to
go on a journey to perform a quest, find the grail or carry out an adventure
and then return home. One example from antiquity is Hercules who famously
carried out twelve labours. A modern example – from reality - is the moon
landing of Apollo 11, which happened in real time as broadcast on television.
47
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Meaning
’What’s the point?’ ’What’s the meaning of it all?’ are common types of questions. People have always
searched for explanations, for meaning; for answers to all the why? questions. ‘Why do natural disasters
happen?’ ‘Why do people die prematurely?’
One way of finding comfort in a harsh and inexplicable world has often been through myth. My mother
talked about the mystery and magic of her ancestors as symbolized in “Jon’s people”, which to me
always was a metaphor for the heroic grandfather figure since Jon had taken on an almost legendary
status in my mother’s stories of him. Yet, when I did research in historic archives, they showed that the
elusive ‘Jon’ was a simple fisherman born in 1736 and died in 1790.
People have always found comfort in nature and the spiritual aspects of nature. An animistic view gave
rise to early forms of mystery cults and semi-religious indigenous traditions such as Shamanism.
Ritual
Think of the importance of a ritual. A ritual can be seen as a way to ceremonially act out a myth. When
you take part in it, you are a participant in a myth. An important aspect or function of a ritual is to
elevate you, to challenge you in a journey of transmutation.
Rituals have always been very important, sometimes even crucial to people. That is true also these days.
Every weekend, we see spectators at sports games performing rituals. Many people who get married in
a church are not practising Christians. They do it because of the ritual. Families playing board games
spit on the dice and shake it before rolling it. Actors and athletes often have little rituals they carry out
before their work.
Children playing together often make up their own rituals. Those rituals are mostly temporary, with new
ones being invented each time the children meet. The ritual can even change and be adapted during the
play, depending on kids coming and going, the weather changing or some other circumstance altering.
Children are natural creators of myth and rituals.
Rituals are often inherited from previous generations. We learn them as we grow up. Mysteries, in a
way, are revealed by rituals and telling of stories. As I see it, we need to bring back something similar to
the camp fire talk. To have people gather together, exchange stories and tell tales brought down
through the generations.

Home practice
Allow me to suggest that you make yourself a nice
brew, bring pen and paper and sit somewhere
comfortable. Then write down myths you have heard.
They may have been told in school or by a relative.
Then think of specific rituals used in your family.
Are they old or maybe newly made up? What have
they meant to you? How have you related to them?
When did you last see a glimpse of magic? It could
have been synchronicity like friends texting you the
same time you were thinking of them. Or even a touch
of serendipity?

Finding romance in a bookshop, being offered a job by
someone you talked to at the supermarket check-out
or finding a long sought-after book on the seat next to
you on the train?
Are there people in your family, amongst friends or
other people you know who are – if not bona fide
heroes – but at least have a touch of the heroism in
them? Think of why you may feel like that. What about
yourself?
And finally, how can you use myth, magic and rituals to
overcome obstacles in your own life?
Maybe there are challenges in your workplace.
Tensions in your family. Or feelings and emotions in
your personal life that you need to deal with.
By creating a little ceremony, you can become the hero
of your own life.

INHERITED
MEMORIES
Martin Lewis
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Investigation regarding this subject came about due to
a dream I had recently which was quite lucid, vivid,
and disturbing! I did feel like I was actually part of this
event unfolding in my unconscious mind. I decided to
see if I could find out what this phenomenon might be
called, and so turned to Google to see what might be
revealed.
Looking up this experience revealed some interesting
information, and I came across this text.
“…..I have distinct memories of events that have occurred
in my mothers life, except I was not born yet. For
instance there were particular CD’s my mom was excited
about getting at the mall while in high school. One being
a SRV cd. I asked her about it, and where she bought it,
and what she described was exactly what I visualised. I
also have visions of her in high school. I had never been
to this school, but once on the campus I was able to
locate the exact room she was taught in, via the route in
my vision. There are also other instances, one where she
was in an abusive relationship prior to having me and I
can see visions of the abuse as well as her escaping. She
had never told me anything about this. I had asked her
about a specific object she kept, which prompted the
story. Is this normal? Am I insane? Is my brain playing
tricks on me? Is there a name for this? Anything? (sorry I
tried googling with no luck due to not knowing how to
describe it). Can you please help.”…anon.
Since the sequencing of the human genome in 2003,
genetics has become one of the key frameworks for
how we all think about ourselves. From fretting about
our health to debating how schools can accommodate
neuro-diverse pupils, we reach for the idea that genes
deliver answers to intimate questions about people’s
outcomes and identities.
52
Recent research shows that complex traits such as temperament, longevity, resilience to mental illhealth
and even ideological leanings, become ‘hardwired’ in our psyche, some of which are a result of
something called epigenetic memory transfer.
Our education and life experiences interact with epigenetic factors to create a fantastically complex
matrix of influence, which we can energetically inherit from our ancestors.
Scientists working in this emerging field of epigenetic study have discovered the mechanism that allows
lived experience and acquired knowledge to be passed on within one generation, by altering the shape
of a particular gene.
This means that an individual’s life experience doesn’t die with them, but endures in epigenetic form,
and can be passed on.
For example: the impact of the starvation your Dutch grandmother suffered during the Second World
War, or the trauma inflicted on your grandfather when he fled his home as a refugee, might go on to
shape your parents’ brains, their behaviours and eventually yours.
In kinesiological terms the energetic movement, or transfer of memory, would appear to have a
profound impact on the health of an offspring of that individual. This is not just a genetic bio-chemical
affect, but an energetic effect, which can influence the functional bio-chemistry and brain patterning of
the children of that individual.
53
It appears that this effect is not necessarily
subconscious, but can also occur in the unconscious!
A study published in Nature Neuroscience, in 2014,
and carried out by Prof Kerry Ressler at Emory
University, Georgia, found that a person’s behaviour
can be influenced by ancestral experience, and the
inherited memories of those experiences.
Sensory information picked up by a portion of your
brain (the nucleus accumbens) can cause us to seek
out pleasure, based on what our mother or father
experienced a lack of.
Literally experiencing the fear of loss or lack can be
passed on in our genes, causing our offspring to
become hedonistic thrill seekers as a result. In brain
function terms the nucleus accumbens passes on
energetic information from one generation to the
next, via our Amygdala and Hippocampus, creating
potentially bizarre, fear induced behaviour.
Studies conducted by Prof Rachel Yehuda at the Icahn
School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical School,
New York, revealed that the effects of parental trauma
can indeed be passed on in this way. Her first study
showed that expression changes in genes were linked
to immune-system dysfunction. These changes could
weaken the barrier of white blood cells, which allows
the immune system to get improperly involved within
the central nervous system.
This interference has been linked to depression,
anxiety, psychosis and autism, and potentially a whole
host of other physiological ailments.
Michael Meaney, neurobiologist at McGill University,
Montreal in Canada, found that the brains of people
who were brought up in an abusive parental
environment showed hippocampal neuronal
imbalances, that affected his patients ability to
regulate their stress hormones, often leading to a life
full of anxiety.
Ressler and Yehuda have collaborated, with others, to
reveal epigenetic tags in PTSD afflicted war zoneexposed
combatants.
54
The most exciting thing of all occurred when the
researchers set out to investigate whether this effect
could be reversed. They found that after a certain
amount of repetition of a pain-free experience, neural
circuitry reverted back to their original format. The
traumatic memory was no longer passed on in the
behaviour and brain structure of the next generations.
Dr Bruce Dewe and Dr Bruce Lipton PhD have both
stated that our emotions can regulate or dis-regulate
our genes, depending on our life experiences. Dr
Lipton says that: “the true secret to a healthy life lies
within each cell, specifically the cellular membrane. Your
epigenome controls your expression of your disease, but
your mind and your thoughts, they control your
epigenome”.
Dawson Church PhD states that meditation for only
30 minutes a day can boost your mood, lift you out of
depression, and create a positive outlook on life.
In effect meditation can increase your life expectancy,
by decreasing your cardiovascular disease by 23% and
other diseases by 55% !
Meditation enables us to regulate our genomic
sequencing, turning on healthy genetic expression,
and turning off unhealthy ones.
In all times and across all cultures, people have paid
their dues to their ancestors and pondered the legacy
they will leave for their descendants. The more we
learn about how our body and mind work together to
shape our experience, the more we can see that our
life story is woven into our biology. It’s not just our
body that keeps the score but our very genes.
If we can grasp the potential impact of how our
ancestors’ experiences affect our own behaviour, we
might be more understanding of others' behaviour,
who are also carrying the inherited weight of their
ancestors experience!
We are, as far as we know, the only animals capable of
‘cathedral thinking’, that is the working on projects,
over many generations, for the benefit of those who
come after.
55
Alchemical Voice - L2M - Issue 31
Our knowledge of epigenetics has only just started,
but its potential to massively speed up evolutionary
authenticity, which could support us to do everything
we can to be the ancestors our descendants need.
Conflict, neglect and trauma cause untold damage on
the body, mind and spirit. Trust, curiosity, forgiveness,
compassion and authenticity heals. If we do the
appropriate/authentic thing today we could indeed
pass this healing on to the next generation.

FAITH WITHOUT WORK
IS DELUSION
Hannah Gauss
A teacher of mine used to say: “Faith without work is
delusion”.
The danger of thinking manifestation is as easy as a readymade
cake mix, is treating the universe like a wishing well.
We choose what we want, visualise it, and then surrender it
to the great beyond so it can show up in our lives sometime
down the line.
But it doesn’t quite work, does it?
The truth is, that desiring something and setting the intention
to get it is only half the job done. We have to follow up with
action to fulfill our part of the cosmic deal.
Creation requires three forces - active, passive, neutral.
If we want to attract a partner who shares our values, we
have to embody those ourselves.
If we want more money, we need to develop an abundance
mindset, resolve our money blocks and work. If we want to be
successful in our small businesses, we are required to act and
think like entrepreneurs, not just like creatives.
Manifestation isn’t about having something, it’s about
embodying the frequency it vibrates on. Otherwise, you may
receive a burst of money just to blow it in a week, because
you don’t have the right beliefs or discipline to handle it.
That’s what people call self-sabotage - wishing for something
without going after it or doing the opposite of what gets us
there.
58
So why is it that we are talking the manifestation talk but
don’t walk the manifestation walk?
When we have spent most of our lives surviving trauma, life
itself doesn’t feel abundant. We never learned to delay
gratification, because there was never enough for us to begin
with. We have watched so many people live the lives we
dream of. When is it finally our turn? It’s easy to feel like the
universe owes us one, and that we’ve already put in all the
hard work. We self-sabotage because, after all, deep down
we know we don’t deserve nice things.
Sustainable manifestation is identifying our needs and
marrying them with our desires. If you want to be a successful
entrepreneur, what does success look like to you? Do you
need weekends off for the kids? Do you want to be a public
speaker? Where and how can you start practising to share
your message, and improve your communication skills? Social
media, newsletter or a newspaper column?
See, you don’t need 50 clients to embody the persona in you
that is naturally good at solving problems for others. You
really just need to start practicing who you want to be as
often as you can and let the laws of this universe take care of
the rest.

ancient East of Ireland, reminding people of
how powerful they always were.
