VISION STATEMENT OF

NEIGHBOURHOOD

PRAYER NETWORK

“For at least one Christian

living on their streets to PRAY

for their neighbours, CARE for

their neighbours and SHARE

Jesus with their neighbours,

believing that in 2030, there

will be 5 new disciples of

Jesus on every street.”

Will you join

us and help us

spread the vision

4 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE

This guide is a 40 day prayer

guide that can be used at any

time of the year. For many

traditional churches, it would

work well over the Lent period.

The focus of this prayer guide is, ‘Through the Lens

of the Street.’ Lisa Hutt, saw a picture of a magnifying

glass over the street. Everything that happens in our

nation affects those living on our streets. As we have

turned as a nation away from God, we are now bearing

the consequences - family breakdown, violence, lack of

community, rising crime, economic and moral decay.

We believe that prayer changes things. In these 40

days, we will look at scripture and pray into issues

that affect all of us. There will also be some practical

suggestions and some testimony in part 2 of the book.

We can change our nation, through concentrating

our prayers and efforts on those living closest to us.

Multiplied throughout the UK, with each of us doing

our part, we become an army. We war against injustice,

crime and breakdown of relationships. In unity we are

asking for God’s Kingdom to come and God’s will to be

done, on our street and in our nation.

Origins of Neighbourhood Prayer Network

Neighbourhood Prayer Network was founded in 2010,

but officially became a charity in 2012. The beginnings

of it though can be dated back to almost 40 years ago,

when the founder Rebekah, felt God speak to her as

a child.

Dismissing this in teenage years and becoming an

atheist, Rebekah returned to the Lord after a long

journey back at the age of 26. God spoke to Rebekah

about getting every street in the UK covered in Christian

prayer, with people caring for neighbours and sharing

Jesus with neighbours. The aim was always to prepare

the way for God to move in power on our streets and

across the UK.

In 2024, God started speaking to Neighbourhood

Prayer Network about a “reset.”

During this time, Rebekah was seeking God for direction

and had a “vision from God” detailed below. Out of this

was born a 5 year plan to see 5 new Christians on every

street in the UK over 5 years. PRAYER is always the

foundation, CARE is the action that usually flows from

praying for our neighbours as we are called to love our

neighbour as ourselves. SHARING Jesus, is the ultimate

expression of love for our neighbour. I can’t imagine

doing life without Jesus, why would we keep the gift of

knowing Him to ourselves? Obviously on some streets

there are more or less houses, but in setting a goal, it

spurs us all to action.

As thousands of people have PRAYED for their

neighbours, CARED for their neighbours and SHARED

Jesus with their neighbours; we have seen a sense of

community returning to some streets, crime falling,

healings taking place and several people becoming

disciples of Jesus- attending churches. Will you

join us? Sign up at www.neighbourhoodprayer.net

Please note street registrations take up to 7 days, as

we have to verify the data and make sure that the dot

is in the middle of the street.

Looking out of her window aged 8 or 9 years old,

she looked at the working class street, in Crumpsall,

Manchester and felt the loneliness of the street. It was

a rainy day, and the clouds were dull and apart from

the odd light on in the houses, you could be forgiven

for thinking that no-one lived there, such was the lack

of interaction on the street. Rebekah’s Grandma, said,

‘that she missed the war - not the fighting, but the

community spirit that she felt we had lost.’ This was

the 1980s and things are much worse now. In that

moment of looking out of the window, Rebekah felt

God whisper to her, “in the future, I am going to use

you to help change this.”

The vision of the harvest

I saw a large white ship. The sky was blue and the

waters still. I could see a man in white clothes on the

deck of the ship surveying the waters. I am sure that

this was Jesus.

Below the decks were great nets being prepared and

unrolled by two groups of people. There were several

of these rolls. I noticed someone who seemed upset

about insects on one of the nets. I remember thinking

that it didn’t seem important, but it was to this person

preparing the nets. These nets were industrial size

nets, nothing like what I have ever seen in the natural.

The scene changed. It was as though I was looking

through dark clouds and I could see beams of light

piercing through the clouds. Below the clouds I could

see that these beams illuminated a vast ocean- the

ocean was in a storm and I could see the ocean was

teaming with people, all crying out for help.

The white boat was there, putting its nets into the

water and I saw some of the people gathered in through

the nets, but there were too many for one boat…

The last thing I saw was a sky that was blue, the sea

calm and on the shore there were containers containing

loads of fish that had been caught.

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few

(Matthew 9:37).

Fishers of Men (Mark 1:17).

Calming of the storm (Matthew 8:23-27).

Ezekiel 47

Greatest Commandment, Matthew 22:34-40

“Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the

Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the

law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is

the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your

heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

This is the first and greatest commandment. And the

second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.

All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two

commandments.” (NIV)

The Fellowship of the Believers Acts 2:42-47

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching

and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to

prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many

wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All

the believers were together and had everything in

common. They sold property and possessions to give

to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to

meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread

in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere

hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all

the people. And the Lord added to their number daily

those who were being saved.” (NIV)

Notes on Grammar and Bible Translation

Any prayer referring to God such as Your, You are

deliberately in capitals for respect reasons.

The Biblical translation used is the NIV.

Foundational Scriptures of Neighbourhood

Prayer Network

Before we became a charity in 2012, there were

three scriptures that laid the foundation for NPN.

They remain at the core of everything we aim for and

ground us.

Salt and Light Matthew 5:13-16

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses

its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no

longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and

trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill

cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and

put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand,

and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same

way, let your light shine before others, that they may

see your good deeds and glorify you Father in heaven.”

(NIV)

6 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

THROUGH THE

LENS OF THE STREET:

A 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

Safety: For the action points suggested, we do not recommend that children take part in these, unless under

supervision of an adult. The same is true for vulnerable adults. The majority of our neighbours are good, kind

people, but some are not. For this reason, we recommend that no-one does the action points alone, but rather

with someone else.

Day 1: For spiritual blindness to be removed

2 Corinthians 4:4

“The god of this world has blinded the minds of

unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the

gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the

image of God.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for the eyes of our neighbours to be

opened to the truth of who Jesus is - Lord, saviour,

Messiah, light of the world, prince of peace, healer and

God. We ask for our neighbours to have an encounter

with You. Help each neighbour on my street to come

across the Gospel - through TV programmes, books,

Christian family friends or neighbours. Open their

hearts to receive the Good News of Your Kingdom.

Amen.

Action: Make a list of 5 neighbours, you are

going to pray for regularly. Put the names on

your fridge and pray every time you open the

fridge.

Day 3: Education & Curriculum

Proverbs 22:6

“Start children off on the way they should go, and

even then when they are old they will not turn from

it.” (NIV)

Lord, protect every one of the children living on my

street or near my street as they travel to school. Help

all excel in the gifting You have put in them and let

none be victims of bullying in school. We pray for all

teachers, to be a good example to children and for

opportunities for the Gospel to be shared in our local

schools. Amen

Action: As you open the curtains each day,

pray for all children on your street and any

teachers or people who work in our local

schools.

Day 2: Love Your Neighbour as Yourself

Matthew 22:39

“And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as

yourself.’” (NIV)

Lord, help me to love my neighbour as myself,

sacrificing time to pray for them, care for them in times

of need and as the ultimate expression of love to them;

tell them about You, so that they may have life in all its

fullness. Forgive me for any times I have been selfish

in the way I have treated my neighbours, perhaps with

parking, noise or indifference. Amen

Action: Look out for any neighbour moving

into your street- buy them a little card to

welcome them to the street.

40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

7

Day 4: Loneliness

Psalm 68:6

“God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the

prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sunscorched

land.” (NIV)

Lord, please help all children, who barely see their

parents due to long working hours, keep them safe and

bring friends to play with them. For all children living

between two parent’s addresses, bring peace between

their parents and wider family. Lord, we pray for all

foster carers, adoptive parents, for wisdom in dealing

with past traumas in their children. Let no neighbour

of ours ever have only the TV for company in the week,

bring all into community on our street. Amen

Action: Keep an eye open for any neighbour

or family in need of support. With someone

else, or your home group, invite a neighbour

for a cuppa in a local café.

Day 5: Local Councillors, MPs, Members of

Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and

Stormont.

1 Timothy 2:1-2

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers

intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people

– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live

peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

(NIV)

Lord, we pray for protection of our local MPs, all

politicians, councillors and civil servants. Help them

to feel appreciated rather than reviled and give them

wisdom, dedication, integrity and competence as they

represent the people they serve. Lord, please give

opportunities for Christians to get to know their local

councillors and MP. Amen

Action: Whether you like or agree with your

local politicians or not, send them a thank

you card for their service, or drop them a

nice email.

Day 6: Cost of Living Crisis.

Genesis 41:56-57

“When the famine was spread over the whole country,

Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to

the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout

Egypt. And all the world came to Egypt to buy

grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe

everywhere.” (NIV)

Lord, we pray for any neighbours who are stressed

about finance asking for Your help. Bring unexpected

provision, items that are cheaper to their attention.

We give thanks to local businesses such as corner

shops, petrol stations and ask that they thrive. We pray

especially that the cost of petrol, gas, electricity and

food prices, is affordable for all. Amen

Action: If you have any spare household

items or clothes that you are not using,

rather than selling them on, could you offer

them to your neighbours or a local charity

shop for free?

Day 7: For many on our street to become

Children of God

John 1:12-13

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in

his name, he gave the right to become children of God

- children born not of natural descent, nor of human

decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” (NIV)

Father, let us see soon, many believing in Jesus as

their Lord and their saviour, for the first time. For

those who have stopped attending church, or become

disillusioned with church, bring them home to a local

Christian fellowship. Let all our neighbours know You as

their heavenly Father, who loves them unconditionally

and longs to be in relationship with them. Make me a

channel of Your peace on my street, so that through

the peace I carry, it will draw others to You. Amen

Action: If your church is putting on an event,

could you ask one or two of your neighbours

if they would like to come?

8 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

Day 8: Greed

Matthew 6:19-21

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,

where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves

break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures

in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy,

and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where

your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (NIV)

Father, help all neighbours, whose eyes are always

looking for the next purchase, the next bigger and

better item- tame their greed. Fill their hearts with

desires that serve You, turning their hearts towards

things that really matter; family, friends and a

relationship with You. May they be generous as they

have opportunity to bless others. Amen

Action: Rather than buying something new

this month for yourself, donate money to a

local charity and consider increasing your

giving to your local church or fellowship,

be that money or time.

Day 9: Poverty

Deuteronomy 15:7-8

‘If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any

of the towns of the land the LORD your God is giving

you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward

them. Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them

whatever they need.” (NIV)

Lord, we pray for all our neighbours struggling to pay

electric, gas, water bills, or housing costs. For all those

working extremely hard, for little pay, please bless

them with unexpected provision from kind friends and

neighbours and bring an improvement to the wider

economy, so that wealth is distributed fairly. Help us

to live in a community where people look out for one

another, sharing with those in need. If there are any

who can work, but choose not to, please give them

the motivation to find work, which will fulfil the unique

gifts that they have. For all those desperately seeking

work, bring jobs and help. Amen

Action: Donate to a local foodbank.

Day 10: Mental Health

2 Timothy 1:7

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,

but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (NIV)

Father, help all on our street, who are struggling to

get up in the mornings because of depression and

anxiety or other mental health problems. Bring healing

where there has been trauma, friendship where there

is loneliness and joy where there is mourning and deep

unhappiness. Help people on our street to be kind to

them, open handed and help them hear Your voice as

they cry out in prayers of desperation. Amen

Action: Be the change that you want to see.

Could you offer friendship, with one or two

others, to a neighbour?

Day 11: Families and Marriage

Matthew 19:4-9

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning

the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[ and said,

‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother

and be united to his wife, and the two will become

one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Therefore what God has joined together, let no one

separate.”

“Why then,” they asked, “did Moses command that a

man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her

away?”

Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your

wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not

this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone

who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality,

and marries another woman commits adultery.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for your gift of marriage to be restored to

so many who no longer choose to get married. Protect

married couples from the temptation of ‘cheating’ on

their husband or wife. Help all marriages to survive and

grow stronger, being bound together with mutual love

and affection and following the pattern that you laid

down for us. Amen

Action: Each time you walk down your street,

pray for marriage to be strengthened on

your street.

40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

9

Day 12: Not Married, Single or Divorced

Matthew 19:10-11

“The disciples said to him, “If this is the situation

between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry.”

Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word,

but only those to whom it has been given. For there

are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are

eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—

and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs

for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who

can accept this should accept it.” (NIV)

Father, help all those who are single, especially those

who do not want to be, to feel a sense of belonging

in their families and local communities. Help them

to fully embrace being single rather than seeing it as

something to be endured. Help those recovering from

a marriage breakdown, relationship breakdown, to heal

from their pain and know that You are a God who loves

them unconditionally. Amen

Action: Being single is made so much harder

because of lack of community. Could you

put an event on, in the near future, such as

a street party, barbeque, Macmillan’s coffee

morning, Big Lunch, Christmas party etc;

perhaps through your local church?

Day 13: Pornography on Our Streets

John 8:1-11

“but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts,

where all the people gathered around him, and he

sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and

the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.

They made her stand before the group and said to

Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of

adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone

such women. Now what do you say?” They were using

this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for

accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the

ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning

him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any

one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a

stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on

the ground.

the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up

and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one

condemned you?”

“No one, sir,” she said.”

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go

now and leave your life of sin.” (NIV)

Father, please help all those watching pornography

on our street to stop. Protect teenagers and younger

children from viewing pornography at a young age,

especially accidentally. Heal those children who have

been upset by some of what they have seen. Protect

people of all ages from being drawn into sex work and

help teenagers not to develop a warped view of sex due

to pornography. If any neighbour is involved in making

pornographic images, we pray that they will know that

You are a loving Father, loving them unconditionally

and that You desire a relationship with them, even

when this is what they are doing. Amen

Action: If you have children, grandchildren,

nieces or nephews or friends of the family,

think about how to keep them safe online.

Most of us don’t think enough about this.

Day 14: For many people to ‘catch the vision’

to share Jesus with their neighbours

Luke 10:2

“He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the

workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore,

to send out workers into his harvest field.” (NIV)

Lord, for those who once prayed for their street, but

stopped, reawaken them to the urgency of the need

to pray. Lord, we pray that every street near me has at

least one Christian praying for their street and that the

spiritual atmosphere, where I live, would be one where

peace and love reign. Amen.

Action: Think about all the things God has

done for you, how your life is different

because you know Jesus and how you came

to know Jesus. When a neighbour asks

you, and if you are praying, they eventually

will… be ready to tell them why you believe

in Jesus.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a

time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with

10 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

Day 15: All Children

Matthew 19:14-15

“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do

not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs

to such as these.” When he had placed his hands on

them, he went on from there.” (NIV)

Lord, we pray that our street is a safe place for children

to grow up, to walk down the street and protection

from any harm. Let homes where I live, be filled with

love and affirmation, secure places that are warm,

with enough food, clothes and things they need. Help

parents to be wise in how they raise their children,

being a good role model. Let our neighbourhood,

be somewhere children feel loved and valued and

protected by all. Amen

Action: Volunteer in your local church with

Sunday school, youth work etc following UK

child protection guidance, (your own church

should have a local policy).

Day 16: Child Abuse

Matthew 18:1-11

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,

“Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

He called a little child to him, and placed the child

among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you

change and become like little children, you will never

enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever

takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in

the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one

such child in my name welcomes me.

“If anyone causes one of these little ones - those who

believe in me - to stumble, it would be better for them

to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to

be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world

because of the things that cause people to stumble!

Such things must come, but woe to the person through

whom they come! If your hand or your foot causes you

to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for

you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two

hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And

if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and

throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one

eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire

of hell. “See that you do not despise one of these little

ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always

see the face of my Father in heaven.” (NIV)

Father, if any child is suffering emotional, physical,

sexual abuse or neglect, we pray in the name of Jesus

that it stops now and that the child or children get the

help and support that they need. Protect every child

from harmful adult behaviours, whether intentional

or not and we pray for discerning social workers and

council based services; to make the right decisions,

every time, for children they find in need. Amen

Action: If a neighbour is a social worker,

offer them a cuppa or a meal to show

your support.

Day 17: Pray for the Police

Ephesians 6:12

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but

against the rulers, against the authorities, against the

powers of this dark world and against the spiritual

forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (NIV)

Help our police officers, security services to stay

safe and feel appreciated in the communities where

they serve. Build bridges in relationships with locals

where trust has been broken. Help them to be men

and women of integrity in their roles, keeping to high

standards and managing the people they arrest or are

investigating in a wise manner. Help the crime rate on

our street to go down, for all our neighbours to feel

safe in their own homes. Let your Holy Spirit reign on

our street, bringing peace and a sense of calm. Amen

Action: Send a thank you card to your local

police station. Find out the names of your

local neighbourhood policing team and

pray for them by name every time you see

a police car or vehicle.

40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

11

Day 18: Racism

Genesis 9:8

“The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were

Shem, Ham and Japheth.(Ham was the father of

Canaan.) These were the three sons of Noah, and from

them came the people who were scattered over the

whole earth.” (NIV)

Father, You created all of us, regardless of the colour

of our skin, our creed or nationality. We are all made in

your image. Lord, please banish hatred on our street

towards anyone of a different nationality, religion or

skin colour. Bring healing to those who have suffered

racism in the past or currently. Protect children and

young adults from far-right ideology on the internet.

Help our street to be a place of kindness, respect and

friendship for all. Amen

Action: Deliberately go out of your

way to befriend a neighbour from a

different culture, nationality or religion.

Be the change you want to see.

Day 19: Debt

Proverbs 22:7

“The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave

to the lender.” (NIV)

Lord, help our neighbours resist where possible

the temptation to get into debt. For those who are

desperately trying to keep their head above water as

unexpected life circumstances hit or bills larger than

expected arrive; bring relief from the strain they face.

Help those in trouble be able to access debt advice

and not be too proud to ask for help. Thank you for

organisations such as Christians Against Poverty and

may there be one nearby if there is not one already; or

similar soon. Amen

Day 20: Food poverty

Proverbs 22:9

“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they

share their food with the poor.” (NIV)

Lord, we pray for neighbours on our street or nearby,

who are missing meals to manage food costs they

cannot afford. We pray that all neighbours, who are

able; will be generous in giving to foodbanks locally

and also offering hospitality to neighbours. Lord, let

no-one on our street go hungry because they cannot

afford food. Amen

Action: Invite a neighbour (with someone

else) for a meal in your home.

Day 21: For truth to be spoken, even when it

is not popular.

John 14:6

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the

life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.”

(NIV)

Lord, we pray for all the Christians already living on

our street, to be bold in speaking the truth about who

You are. Give wisdom to them - when to speak and

when to be silent, but always ready to give an answer

to any questions asked. Help all Christians living on our

street, to love one another and to be without fear, in

telling others about their faith. Amen

Action: Watch the film- the Case for Christ

(on Netflix or other streaming services),

to give you answers to some of the

common questions or barriers none believers

often have.

Action: Donate to the work of Christians

Against Poverty, if you are able. Consider

getting involved with or setting one

up locally.

12 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

Day 22: Landlords exploiting the poor.

Proverbs 22:16

“One who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth

and one who gives gifts to the rich – both come to

poverty.”

Father, we pray that for our neighbours renting, that

landlords treat their tenants fairly. Bless the landlords

who live on our street who do treat their tenants fairly.

For families facing last minute evictions or finding

themselves having to move because of rents they

can no longer afford, bring a reasonable price and

resolution soon. Amen

Action: Donate to a local homelessness

charity, either financially or your time.

Day 23: Gambling

1 Timothy 6:9–10

“Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and

a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that

plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love

of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people,

eager for money, have wandered from the faith and

pierced themselves with many griefs.” (NIV)

Lord, we pray for any of our neighbours who are

caught in the snare of gambling - online, scratch cards,

national lottery, betting shops etc. We pray for no more

gambling shops or outlets to open in the area. Protect

children, young adults and the vulnerable from being

targeted online. Help people addicted to gambling and

in financial trouble, to have the courage to take a first

step towards getting help. Amen

Action: Work out how much it costs to buy

a national lottery ticket or scratch card.

Donate the money to any local charity you

like, encouraging your neighbours to do the

same, as or when you see them.

Day 24: Asylum seekers

Deuteronomy 27:19

“Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the

foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.” (NIV)

We pray for all asylum seekers in our local area, fleeing

the most heart wrenching circumstances. Heal their

broken hearts and the psychological and sometimes

physical scars they carry. We pray that they will be

treated with compassion, opened hearted attitudes

and a fair and fast system, that gives them stability.

Amen

Action: Consider reading the book:

“The Hiding Place: How one courageous

family triumphed over hate by Corrie Ten

Boom, Elizabeth Sherill, et al

Day 25: Loving new arrivals, immigrants

Leviticus 19:34

“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as

your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were

foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” (NIV)

Thank you for bringing new friends into our

communities. We pray for wisdom for our councils and

government, for the numbers arriving in the UK and for

resource allocation. For people already here, help us

to be hospitable to new neighbours and let them be

treated with respect and love in all spheres of their life.

Amen

Action: If there is a local church, with a

majority of people from another nationality;

perhaps offer as an individual, home group

or church, friendship with these believers as

the Holy Spirit guides.

Day 26: Compassion in Health care

Matthew 14:14

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had

compassion on them and healed their sick.” (NIV)

Father, thank you for our local GP surgeries, hospitals,

care homes, nursing homes, district nurses,

paramedics, occupational therapists, physiotherapists,

dentists, cleaners, carers, doctors, physician associates

and so many other health care professionals, who

live on our street and work in local hospitals. Under

the pressures that they face, help them to deal with

compassion with those in front of them. Heal their

broken hearts, as many struggle under the weight of

not being able to give the care that they would like. Let

each neighbour on our street, working in healthcare,

depend on You in times of trouble. Amen

Action: Send a thank you card to any health

care provider who treats you- it really does

lift morale.

Day 27: Respect for Older People

Leviticus 19:32

“Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect

for the elderly and revere your God, I am the LORD.”

(NIV)

1 Timothy 5:1

“Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as

if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers,

older women as mothers, and younger women as

sisters, with absolute purity.” (NIV)

1 Peter 5:5

“In the same way, you who are younger, submit

yourselves to your elders. All of you; clothe yourselves

with humility toward one another, because, “God

opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.”

(NIV)

Father, thank you for all our elderly relatives, neighbours

and friends. We thank you for their wisdom, the childcare

many of them provide for grandchildren, the

voluntary hours they work in charities and treasured

experience that they bring. Help our older neighbours

to always be treated with respect, compassion and

gently. Help us all to look out for the needs of older

people on our streets. Amen

Day 28: Redeem our Streets

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble

themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from

their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I

will forgive their sin and I will heal their land” (NIV)

Father, we stand in the gap for our neighbours and the

sins committed on our street, whether knowingly or

unknowingly. We repent on behalf of all those who have

turned away from You, whether it be this generation or

the one before. Bring conviction to all our neighbours

and indeed ourselves, for the times when we have

fallen far short of loving our neighbours as ourselves

or doing to others as we would have them do to us.

Help all neighbours, turn to You, pray to You and heal

our neighbours emotionally, physically, socially and

spiritually. Amen

Action: Consider your own walk with God,

are there areas where you need to repent or

make changes in your own life, so that you

more closely reflect the love of God?

Day 29: Farmers and Rural Communities

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose

confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted

by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It

does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always

green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never

fails to bear fruit.” (NIV)

Thank You for all our farmers, and those involved in

the production of our food. Forgive us Father, for not

appreciating the hard work that they do, more often.

We pray for the livelihoods of all farmers, that they will

be treated fairly. We ask that the farming community

puts their trust in You, especially when weather

patterns damage crops or economic circumstances

make life really tough. We pray for farmers who are

struggling in any way to receive the help and support

they need. Amen

Action: Buy local and if there is a local farm

shop nearby, support it from time to time.

Action: Is there a nursing home or care

home on your street? Pray for your local

care home and nursing home and consider

volunteering through befriending.

Day 30: Abortion & Assisted suicide

Psalm 139:13-16

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me

together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully

made ;your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made

in the secret place, when I was woven together in the

depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;

all the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be”. (NIV)

Genesis 1:27

“So, God created mankind in his own image, in the

image of God he created them; male and female he

created them.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for any woman on our street thinking

about aborting her child, especially if it is because she

feels she cannot afford to raise the child. Lord, we pray

for support. We pray that no woman aborts her child

for economic reasons. For those who are struggling

with their past decision to abort a baby, bring healing

to them and the knowledge that you love them

unconditionally. The number of abortions taking place

has surged in recent years, please Lord let the number

dwindle to being a much rarer occasion.

For any older person, thinking about ending their life

through assisted suicide, especially those who feel

they might be doing their relatives a service, help them

to know the immense value that they are in Your sight.

Amen

Action: Encourage some single Mum’s

this week, through a kind word, or

volunteering at a parent and toddler group.

Father, we pray for every woman desperate to

conceive, for their wombs to be opened and for them

to recognise Your hand in it. We pray for all women on

our street, mourning the loss of much wanted babies,

that You will heal them and when the time is right and

according to Your will, give them another child. Amen

Action: Make it a point to pray by name if

possible for those desperate for a baby or

in the midst of a miscarriage.

Day 32: Violence against women and men

Galatians 5:19-21

“The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality,

impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft,

hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition,

dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies

and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who

live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for all women and men, currently living

in the shadow of domestic violence, be that from a

partner or from a child. Bring protection, help and

deliverance from violence. Open our eyes to people

living in plain sight who are suffering emotional,

physical, sexual and even spiritual abuse. For the

people abusing others, bring an encounter with You

that will change them forever. Amen

Action: Familiarise yourself with the signs of

all forms of abuse this week and keep your

eyes open to what is going on around you.

Day 31: Fertility & Miscarriage

Samuel 1:17-20

“Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel

grant you what you have asked of him.” She said,

“May your servant find favour in your eyes.” Then she

went her way and ate something, and her face was

no longer downcast. Early the next morning they

arose and worshiped before the LORD and then went

back to their home at Ramah. Elkanah made love to

his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her. So

in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and

gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying,

“Because I asked the LORD for him.” (NIV)

Day 33: Modern Slavery on our streets

Isaiah 61:1

“The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because

the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to

the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from

darkness for the prisoners,” (NIV)

Father, we pray for anyone in chains through modern

day slavery, on our street, to be released in Jesus’

name, that it will never happen on our street or the

street where we live. Open our eyes to anyone in need

of help and for there to be police tip offs that will catch

anyone trading human beings. Amen

Action: Visit an anti-slavery website and get

greater understanding of this increasing

problem. Hope for Justice, Stop the Traffik

are examples.

Day 34: Addictions

1 Corinthians 15:33

“Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good

character.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for teenagers and even younger

children, not to start drinking alcohol, vaping, smoking,

taking ketamine or laughing gas (nitrous oxide) or

any other addictive substance. For those of all ages

suffering from addictions, heal the root cause that lead

them down this path and bring them out of the way

of further temptation. We pray for those who keep

company with those who take drugs, asking that they

will not get drawn into addictive habits through their

friendships. We pray they will say no to drugs. Amen

Action: Is there a local youth group, such

as scouts, St John Ambulance, for example,

that you could volunteer with?

Day 35: Knife Crime

Matthew 5:43-48

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbour[i]

and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies

and pray for those who persecute you, that you may

be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun

to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the

righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who

love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the

tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your

own people, what are you doing more than others?

Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as

your heavenly Father is perfect.” (NIV)

Father, protect all young people from the scourge

of knife crime, on the street where we live, on the

surrounding streets and across the UK. Let no child die

from stabbing on the streets near us and let no child

carry a knife with them to school. We pray for those

in gangs to want to change their behaviours with

churches and community groups creating safe spaces

for young people. May schools invite relevant Christian

ministries and police to share in assemblies and classes

informing pupils, so they make good choices. Amen

Action: Whenever you put the bins out,

imagine the bins being full of knives currently

in the community. Pray for protection of your

neighbours from knife crime, each time you

throw something away.

Day 36: Homelessness & Housing Crisis

Matthew 25:41-46

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from

me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared

for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you

gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave

me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not

invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe

me, I was sick and n prison and you did not look

after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you

hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or

sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not

do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me”

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but

the righteous to eternal life.” (NIV)

Father, we pray for all families living in temporary

accommodation, or sofa serfing, because they do

not have a home of their own, or were evicted from

their homes due to being unable to keep up with

rents. Clothe them in compassion and let them not

be hidden among us. Give us wisdom how to respond

to homelessness near us and give us heart filled with

compassion, not a blind eye. Amen

Action: Let the Holy Spirit lead you to

someone to help today, so that you can

be His hands and feet where you live.

16 40 DAY PRAYER GUIDE

Day 37: Care for older people

“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and

especially for their own household, has denied the

faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” (NIV)

Lord, for Christians, we pray that you will give people

the strength to help their parents in time of need; as

long as they are able. For relatives, who can help out,

but choose not to, open their hearts. Bring wisdom

to those caring for relatives or friends, to know when

it is time to get extra help. When the point comes

that someone caring for a relative, simply cannot

continue, help them not to feel guilty about this. Heal

those living with someone with dementia in their own

homes; from the emotional toll that this takes as they

watch their loved one change over time and lose a little

part of them, one step at time. Bring more provision in

terms of carers, care homes and nursing homes. We

ask for respect and value to those who are carers in all

settings. Amen

Action: Do an act of kindness for any

neighbour caring for a family member who

is unwell.

Day 38: Terrorism and Defence

Isaiah 54:17

“No weapon forged against you will prevail and you

will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the

heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their

vindication from me, declares the LORD.” (NIV)

1 Peter 5:7

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares f

or you.” (NIV)

Father, protect all our neighbours as they attend

events, walk the streets and where great anxiety exists

about terrorism. Bring Your peace to them. We pray

that not one single act of terrorism will be imagined or

carried out in our street and the surrounding area, in

the name of Jesus. Amen

Day 39: Harmony on our streets between

those from overseas.

Zechariah 7:9-10

“This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘’Administer

true justice; show mercy and compassion to one

another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,

the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against

each other.’” (NIV)

We thank you for the richness that has been brought

to our culture through so many other nationalities now

residing in the UK and locally. We pray that there will

not be tensions between people whose country of

origins are in conflict internationally. Help us to show

love and be welcoming to those of other religious and

cultural backgrounds. Amen.

Action: Offer hospitality to a neighbour who

has recently come to the UK. Seek God for

the best way to do this.

Day 40: Peacemakers

Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be

called sons of God” (NIV)

Lord, grant me your grace, to be a peacemaker when

there are times of tension on my street and surrounding

streets. Help me to stay silent when it is wise to do

so, but speak up if needed, to diffuse conflict. Help

my actions on my street never to stir up hatred, but

instead let me be your ambassador of peace on my

street. Amen

Action: Watch your thoughts and words, so

that you only speak and think positively of

other people.

Action: Whenever you get in your car or on

public transport pray for protection for all

your neighbours from terrorism.

TESTIMONY

This is a lovely testimony, that came through to us in

January 2025. It is a simple project that can be done

through your local church and brings prayer to our

neighbours. It doesn’t cost much to do, except the

printing costs of the prayer cards, which can be done

locally. It also doesn’t cost much time either. We share

this in the hope that this may be replicated in many

churches throughout the UK.

Write your prayer request here :

List your contact details for further help.

Sarah (Sally to her family) lives in Blackpool and attends

a church called Bible Pattern church, Shaw Road. Sarah

is 75 years old, with “knees, not like they used to be”

and she shares today, her street story..

“In 2023 I started delivering prayer request cards at

Easter and at Christmas. My road is a mile long and so

I split the street into three sections. Each section takes

1 hour to do, but I suppose a younger person would do

it quickly. I do it on different days. I also prayer walk my

street once every two to three weeks.

The prayer request cards, I originally obtained from

Neighbourhood Prayer Network, but when stock was

no longer available, I had the cards copied and printed

locally. I put the prayer request card in an envelope with

a letter, explaining that I was committed to praying for

the street through Neighbourhood Prayer Network and

that all prayer requests would be treated as confidential,

unless there was a safeguarding issue.

The letter states to only include contact details if they

would wish a follow up. I also put an extra envelope in,

with the address of the church, so that they can either

post it with their own stamp or deliver it to the church.

All prayer requests are prayed for through the church.

More recently, Bible Pattern Church has also decided

to deliver these prayer request cards for half an hour

after our Sunday services, choosing different streets.

We pray blessings and for hearts to soften. We are

currently on a break from this as being on the coast, the

January weather has been awful, but will recommence

when the weather improves. Some people from

Baptist Tabernacle church the other side of town come

to deliver materials at Christmas and had some great

conversations with people.

Send to :

I have had responses from my own street and some

from near the church, with one gentleman attending

a service and saying that he enjoyed it. We continue to

nurture the contact.

I live in a tough area – where relative affluence live

side by side with some of the most challenging social,

housing and health needs in the UK. Most of my

neighbours are just about managing and are the salt

of the earth, heroes and heroines in many respects.

Some of the prayer requests have been anonymous.

The requests are often about the stresses and strains

of life and relationships. We also had a reply from

a gentleman attending another church, just saying

“well done”. Each time we deliver prayer request cards,

whether near the church or my own street, we get

around three responses each time.

A young man came to my door, with a delivery for a

neighbour, he is someone that I usually smile at when

passing. He told me he had just got a new job and that

he had seen me delivering the prayer requests and that

he thought I’d want to know. I certainly did and I told

him how happy I was for him.

In 2024, there was a by election just before the general

election and it was a very bad-tempered campaign,

meaning that the police had needed to be called to

several of the hustings. One of the hustings was due

to be on my road, Bloomfield Road. I prayed outside it

for peace beforehand. I believe it was the only hustings

where the police were not called!

I’ve also sent prayer request cards to the businesses

based on this road including hotels, social clubs, a retro

arcade, supermarket, café, shops, a medical centre and

two pharmacies, thanking them for their contribution

to our community. In addition, to social service have

a base on this road as well as the famous Bloomfield

Rd Football Club, so they have received some too. All

businesses receive slightly different letters. We have

not yet had a response that I am aware off.

I feel the word’ blessing’ is very strong, and I am

currently reading a book called “I will bless them” by

Roy Godwin and I do actively pray blessing over my

neighbours on my street.

It’s been such an encouragement to see all this happen.

I am not an evangelist, but I/we believe we are seed

planting.

I am blessed that the elders and church members are

so supportive and prayerful.”
