How To Look
After Your Hair
This Spring
NATALIE FISHER
Natalie Fisher is founder at hed honey – a luxury shampoo and
conditioner brand which has been created for women suffering from
psoriasis, hair thinning, itchy and dry scalp or hair loss
Spring brings warmer weather,
increased humidity, and longer
days, which can have both positive
and negative effects on your hair.
1. HYDRATE YOUR HAIR
This time of year can bring a shift
from dry, cold air to warmer, more
humid conditions leaving hair
feeling dry and frizzy. Hydrate
your hair with deep conditioning
treatments and moisturising hair
masks to restore moisture and
prevent split ends. Use a leave-in
conditioner or moisturising hair
oil for extra hydration.
2. PROTECT HAIR FROM UV
DAMAGE
The sun’s UV rays can weaken
your hair, causing colour to fade
and increasing the risk of dryness.
Consider using hair products with
UV protection or wearing a hat
when you’re out in the sun for
extended periods.
3. SWITCH TO LIGHTER HAIR
PRODUCTS
In winter, you may have been
using heavier products to combat
dryness. As the weather warms
up, it’s a good idea to switch to
lighter, more breathable products.
Look for lightweight shampoos,
conditioners, and styling gels that
won’t weigh your hair down.
4. WASH YOUR HAIR LESS
FREQUENTLY
Washing your hair too frequently
can strip it of natural oils, making
it dry and brittle. Instead, try to
wash your hair two to three times
a week, depending on your hair
type, and use a dry shampoo in
between washes to keep it fresh.
5. BE GENTLE WHEN
DETANGLING
Hair can become more fragile
in spring, especially if you’ve
been out in the sun or dealing
with increased humidity. When
detangling your hair, use a widetooth
comb to prevent breakage.
Avoid brushing wet hair as it’s
more vulnerable to damage.
6. TRIM YOUR HAIR
REGULARLY
Spring is a good time to get rid of
split ends and refresh your look
with a trim. Regular trims every
six weeks will keep your hair
healthy and encourage growth.
7. LIMIT HEAT STYLING
Try to limit your use of hot tools
like blow dryers, flat irons,
and curling irons. The spring
humidity can add volume and
texture naturally, and by reducing
heat styling, you can prevent
further damage. If you do need
to use heat, always apply a heat
protectant beforehand.
8. MANAGE HUMIDITY AND
FRIZZ
Humidity can cause hair to
swell, frizz, and lose its shape.
To manage this, consider using
anti-humidity sprays or serums
that lock in moisture and prevent
frizz. You can also embrace your
natural texture by opting for a
simpler hairstyle like braids, buns,
or natural curls.
9. EAT A HAIR-HEALTHY DIET
Good hair starts from within.
Eating a balanced diet rich
in vitamins and minerals,
particularly those that promote
hair health (like biotin, vitamin E,
and omega-3 fatty acids), can help
your hair grow strong and shiny.
10. STAY HYDRATED
Drinking plenty of water is key
to healthy hair. When you’re
hydrated, your scalp and hair
follicles receive the moisture they
need to stay healthy, which helps
your hair grow well and maintain
its natural shine. By following
these tips, you can keep your hair
looking its best throughout the
spring season, whether you’re
enjoying outdoor activities or just
relaxing at home.

SkinPen at Asthetik London Clinic
Located on the top floor of a boutique health club in the heart
of Notting Hill, Asthetik London Clinic is the epitome of
discreet luxury. Under the medical expertise of consultant
doctor Dr David Rouse (FFICM, FRCEM), the clinic
promises excellence in aesthetic treatments. With James
Bayne, the lead aesthetic practitioner, at the helm, I booked
a SkinPen microneedling treatment (£250) to experience its
transformative results firsthand.
WHAT IS SKINPEN?
Microneedling has become a buzzword in skin rejuvenation,
and SkinPen, the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling
device, is a true pioneer. It creates micro-traumas in the
dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production, unveiling
a smoother, more radiant complexion. Whether tackling
acne scars, pigmentation, or fine lines, SkinPen is a versatile
solution with clinically proven efficacy and was voted Best
Device of the Year at the 2024 Aesthetics Awards.
THE EXPERIENCE
My appointment began with James assessing my skin’s needs
and putting me at ease. An anaesthetic cream was then applied
to my face. After 25 minutes the numbing cream was removed
from my skin and James gently glided the SkinPen device over
my face. Despite the procedure’s technical nature, James’s
calm, confident approach turned it into a relaxing experience.
There was a sensation of light pressure from the SkinPen
without any discomfort. Post-treatment, my skin looked
flushed for a couple of days but after a week, it felt smooth and
refreshed. After 4 treatments spaced around 6 weeks apart,
one can expect smoother skin texture, more even skin tone,
increased skin firmness and minimised pores. There is also a
noticeable improvement in acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
Optimal results continue to develop for up to 3-6 months posttreatment
as collagen rebuilds.
THE VERDICT
If you’re seeking a reliable microneedling treatment that
delivers measurable results while indulging in a sophisticated
setting, SkinPen at Asthetik London Clinic is worth every
penny. Prepare to marvel at your own reflection.

Rethinking Potential:
Strategies for Women
Considering A
Career Change
LYNSEY HYSLOP
With over 16 years of experience
as a personal development
specialist, Lynsey Hyslop

Olympians, and individuals
navigating career transitions. As

manage their career development
both during and after their
sporting careers. She is also the

about helping others explore
non-traditional career paths
and successfully manage their
second acts. Her work focuses
on empowering individuals to
identify their strengths, rethink
their career direction, and
confidently take the next step in
their professional journey.
Being ‘career
change curious’ often
leads to stagnation if
you’re unsure where
to begin
For many women, considering a
career change or pivot can feel
overwhelming. But whether this
change is driven by changing life
circumstances, shifting priorities,
or a growing sense that there’s
more within you waiting to be
discovered, take comfort that
reinvention is possible—and it
doesn’t mean starting over from
scratch. Second careers often
emerge from pursuing an interest
or recognising the potential in
a skill they hadn’t previously
considered marketable.
The truth is every experience
you’ve had—whether it felt
significant at the time or not—
has shaped who you are and what
you have to offer. By reflecting
on those experiences, using
the process of elimination to
understand what doesn’t align
with you, gaining clarity on
what does, and considering why
now feels like the right time for
change, you can begin carving
out a fulfilling second act.
Through uncovering your
transferable skills, exploring
fresh opportunities, and building
your confidence, uncertainty can
turn into possibility. If you’re
ready to take the next step, here’s
how to begin.
1. DISCOVER YOUR
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Every career, no matter how
niche, is packed with skills that
can apply to other fields. The
key is learning to reframe them
in new contexts. Skills like
communication, problem-solving,
and teamwork are valuable in
any industry. Plus, your unique
experiences provide a fresh
perspective on these common
skills, which is invaluable.
To uncover your transferable
skills, think beyond the obvious
and consider all areas of your
life where you’ve demonstrated
skills and strengths. This can be
experiences inside and outside
of work, including personal
responsibilities and community
involvement. Start by asking
yourself:
• What challenges have I
overcome in my career, and
how?
• What strengths do I naturally
bring to problem-solving or
teamwork?
• When have I successfully
juggled competing priorities?
• What parts of my role light
me up?
• What am I doing when I’m
feeling I’m at my best in a
work context?
• Which skills do I receive
compliments on from
colleagues or friends?
2. EXPLORE NEW CAREER
PATHS
Once you understand your
transferable skills, it’s time to
explore what direction you want
to go in and where your skills can
take you. This isn’t about having
all the answers straight away—
it’s about staying curious and
open to possibilities.
I have found a good starting
place is to write down everything
you enjoy: your interests, what
excites you, what you do when
14 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
you have a spare half-hour and the
activities that make you lose track
of time. This kind of “mind dump”
can help reveal themes that align
with both what you love and what
you’re good at. When you can see
it all in front of you, it makes it
easier to spot connections and start
to get a sense of where to focus.
• Research industries or roles
that have always intrigued
you—read up on them, follow
key people in those areas, and
be mindful of what stands out.
• Join online communities
or if you prefer in person
interaction, attend networking
events.
• Tune into podcasts or read
articles where people share
their career journeys. Pay
attention to which parts
of their stories spark your
interest.
• Use LinkedIn to your
advantage—find someone in
a role that interests you and
reach out for a virtual coffee.
Asking a simple question
like, “What does your dayto-day
actually look like?”
can provide so much valuable
insight.
3. USE THE PROCESS OF
ELIMINATION
Now that you have more clarity
on what excites you, the next
step is to focus on what doesn’t.
Understanding what doesn’t work
for you is just as important as
knowing what does—it’s like
piecing together a puzzle. Each
job, task, or hobby that doesn’t
light you teaches you something.
I often tell clients and podcast
listeners, “Process of elimination
is progress.” Trying different
things—whether it’s a short
course, a volunteer role, a side
project, or simply talking to others
in different roles —can help you
identify what doesn’t fit and bring
you closer to what does.
Think back to roles or projects
you’ve done and ask yourself these
prompts.
• What drained your energy?
• What didn’t align with your
values?
• What environment were you in
that least excited you?
Then, focus on what remains—
these are your clues for your
next move. Don’t be afraid to
experiment; even an experience
that doesn’t work out adds a layer
of clarity.
4. ASK YOURSELF: WHY NOW?
Career pivots often come from a
desire for more—whether that’s
more fulfilment, more balance, or
more alignment with the person
you’ve grown in to. But identifying
your “why” is crucial for creating
a plan.
• Are you feeling stuck or
unfulfilled in your current
role?
• Have your priorities shifted
due to life changes?
• Are you craving new
challenges or opportunities to
grow?
Knowing your “why” gives you
focus, helping you stay motivated
when things feel uncertain.
Take a few minutes to reflect on
what’s truly driving your career
change. Be honest with yourself
about your reasons—whether it’s a
desire for personal growth, better
balance, or something else entirely.
Then, identify one simple action
you can take today to move toward
that goal, whether it’s researching
a course, reaching out to someone
in a field you’re curious about, or
just imagining what fulfilment
looks like for you.
5. BUILD CONFIDENCE TO
TAKE THE LEAP
Confidence can often feel like the
biggest hurdle when considering
a change, especially after years
in the same field. But confidence
isn’t something you need to have
upfront—it’s something you build
through taking action.
Every job, project, and skill you’ve
picked up over the years isn’t just
random isolated knowledge; it’s
a layer that builds up, creating
a valuable foundation that’s
unique to you. Remember, it’s not
about waiting for confidence to
magically appear before making
a move—confidence grows with
every step you take. The more you
lean into your strengths, embrace
new challenges, and take action,
the more your confidence will
build.
TIPS FOR BUILDING
CONFIDENCE
1. Reach out to friends, family,
and mentors who believe in
you. Surrounding yourself
with positive influences can
boost your confidence and
provide the encouragement
you need to take the leap.
2. Break things down to small
manageable steps. Whether it’s
updating your CV or LinkedIn
profile, attending a networking
event either in person or
online, or taking a relevant
online course, these mini
milestones will build your
confidence over time.
3. Don’t forget to celebrate
every achievement, no matter
how small. Recognise your
progress and give yourself
credit for every step forward.
This will help reinforce your
self-belief, remind yourself of
your resilience and will help
keep you motivated.
4. Join a community of women
navigating similar transitions
because being surrounded by
others who are on the same
path reminds you that you’re
not alone and that others
have successfully walked this
journey too.
Remember, your second act
doesn’t have to be perfect from day
one. Allow yourself to experiment,
adapt, and grow along the way. It
isn’t about erasing your past; it’s
about building on it. Taking time
to explore opportunities that align
with your skills, passions, and
experiences is an important part
of your journey. Your second act
isn’t just about change—it’s about
evolution, and the path forward is
yours to shape.

Sara Davies talks to Preneur World about facilitating
everyday inventions from paper to prototype in her
new BBC show The Big Idea Works
ew
New BBC One series The Big Idea Works
features everyday people who have come
up with a clever idea for a new product,
but don’t know where to start in getting it
made.
Step in Sara Davies, with her eye for
innovation and amazing concepts, she
brings together people with amazing ideas
and the brilliant makers who can turn them
into reality.
Can you tell me about how you started
P out and how your dad helped you
create a prototype of your envelope
idea?
When I was at university I did a work
S placement and in that year I worked
for a tiny craft company and it opened
my eyes to this amazing industry and led
me think I want to start a business here. So,
I researched the industry and met a load of
the customers and the big thing for me was
they were all into card making but nobody
ever had an envelope to match the card.
You could buy envelopes but in standard
sizes. There were tools out there for folding
different sizes and different shapes of card
so I thought why can’t you use it to fold
envelopes?
My dad, who is an engineer, managed to
work out how we could do it because you
had to turn the card at 45 degrees. That
was the lightbulb moment for me that I was
then able to pick that up and run with it and
use that to form the basis of the business. I
guess that’s the only thing with the show,
a lot of people have these ideas but aren’t
lucky enough that their dad is an engineer,
so let’s give everyone access to these
amazing engineers.
P
It’s a feel good show so can you tell us
about the idea of the series and why it
appealed to you?
I just love people and I love the
S excitement of being a part of
someone’s journey. Quite often for
me that’s in business and entrepreneurial
journeys but this is a little different because
this is inventors’ journeys, this is their
ideas and what I love about it is a lot of
people we’ve met have had these ideas for
years and have just been sitting on them
and not able to do anything with them
because they didn’t know how to get it
made.
They come along to us and you feel it
the first time they walk in and talk to
the engineers, you can see them getting
so excited. When I get to interview the
inventors, they feel grateful to me even
though it’s not me who is the one doing
it, it’s the engineers, they feel like I made
that dream a reality. To be part of that with
them is brilliant and I’m so chuffed to be
helping make their dreams a reality.
I’ve never hosted my own show before
and to be the presenter, able to ask all the
questions we all want to know the answers
too - it’s been really exciting.
Most people wouldn’t know where to
P go if they had an idea so how brilliant
is it to be part of a show that can bring
people’s ideas to life?
Phenomenal and I just know what a
S minefield it can be. When I want to
launch a new product we go to specific
product engineers and specialists all over
the world who do this but it’s taken me 20
years to build up that knowledge of how to
do that.
For a lot of people at home that would just
be overwhelming and expensive and they
don’t know what to do, so it’s so exciting
that The Big Idea Works can be that
facilitator. I also just think it will be so
fascinating for people at home because it’s
wonderful to connect with the inventors on
their journey.
P
Can you tell us about how great it was
to see the excitement of contributors
when their dreams were realised?
It was one of the greatest privileges
S I’ve had working in TV. For a lot of
them, we didn’t do what they asked
for, we did that and went above and
beyond. I loved filming the series and
seeing contributors reactions.
Can you tell us about how amazing
P your team of experts are and how
fascinating it was for you to learn from
them and draw on their knowledge?
PRENEUR WORLD 17
L-R: Sim Oakley, Eneni Bambara-Abban, Annie Chapter, Sara Davies, Felix Rowberry, Andy Fordham
If you don’t know much about engineering there
S are so many specialist kinds. Eneni is a robotics
specialist. Even when she isn’t leading on a
project, it’s the way she can help and contribute which
is just fascinating. Sim is a brilliant all-rounder, Andy
is an electronics engineer, he gets so excited about
some of the geeky elements to engineering.
Were there any moments in the series where you
P were blown away by what the experts created as
some of the ideas ranged from the outlandish to
the sublime?
I remember the first one wasn’t even something
S that looked that amazing but it was a baby
product and because I’ve had kids I totally
connected with the problem the inventor was trying
to fix. When the engineers showed me, I thought ‘that
isn’t physically possible’. I got my dad to come up to
set, he drove up to Newcastle and he was stunned. It’s
the simplest thing but it’s very clever engineering.
P
Were there any products that you felt you could
actually use yourself and would want to take
home?
Not every product we developed a prototype
S for is commercially viable. Some things I just
loved for the learnings and the engineering but
for the ones that are commercially viable I remember
thinking I hope they go and do something with it
because I would buy one of these tomorrow.
How has this series changed your views on the
P inventing world because Big Idea Works isn’t
about making products that can be commercially
successful?
The big win for me would be the day someone
S comes and tells me they were doing GCSEs and
the teachers made them watch an episode of The
Big Idea Works to understand how this works. That
would be a life-made moment. I just think it’s the sort
of one if you sit at home watching it you feel like you
become a smarter person and you feel like you’ve
really had to some value from watching it as well as it
being incredibly heart-warming and fun too.
P
Why will this series appeal to ordinary people
and what you think will be the biggest takeaways
for audiences?
You see yourself in it. Ordinary people at home
S will see people like them on screen. Hopefully
viewers will watch and think I’ve had an idea
and could apply to that show. It just feels really
normal and achievable.
P
How would you feel if someone from the series
appeared on Dragons’ Dens further down the
line after appearing on your show?
Absolutely thrilled, that to me would be full
S circle. Not all the products are capable of being
made into a business but there are several of
them which could be very commercially successful.
You never know, we might see some of them in the
Den.
P
Can you talk to us about the importance of
filming a show like this in the North East and
why your home region is so special?
The nations ad regions have so much to offer. We
S had some of the most talented cameramen and
women, sound guys, runners working on this
show with the production company, TwentySix03 and
people who just don’t get opportunities in our area to
work on TV. A lot of people have to travel outside of
the region to get work and I know how much it means
to me to be able to work in my home region.
P
What impact do you hope your new show The
Big Idea Works could have on viewers?
I really hope it can inspire people to be
S interested in engineering and to do something
with the ideas they have because there’s so much
potential and people just need to know where to go
and how to do this. And I hope that people enjoy
watching them, and want to binge more of them. It’s
been a fabulous series to work on and I can’t wait for
people to see the episodes.

AI Literacy: A Vital Skill for
Tomorrow’s Business Leaders
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way
organisations do business. Newer, more advanced
models are capable of automating repetitive tasks,
generating content like sales pitches, or taking on
customer-facing roles – consider how many websites
are now equipped with a chatbot helper, including
AACSB earlier this year.
There are widespread concerns this may lead to job
losses, but the situation is complicated. A study by
McKinsey Global Institute estimates AI could help
to create between 20-50 million new jobs worldwide
by 2030, and experts at institutions like AACSBaccredited
Harvard Business School suggest in
many cases, AI will not replace humans, but humans
empowered with AI tools will replace those who have
not adopted AI.
Proficiency with AI is vital for students who will
be at the forefront of innovation as they enter the
workforce. AI can analyse vast quantities of data,
generating quick, cost-effective market insights
that enable leaders to identify gaps in the market.
Generative AI can also act as a debate partner,
suggesting aspects of a startup idea that need
further development, which can help strengthen an
entrepreneur’s pitch to potential investors. AACSB
actively encourages our member institutions to
explore uses of AI that can prepare students for the
future workplace.
HOW BUSINESS EDUCATION IS ADOPTING AI
Adopting AI is no longer an option. It impacts what
teach, how we teach, how we assess the progress
of learning, and also school management. Business
schools around the world are responding to the
growing demand for AI skills by creating new
programmes, from degree programs to online short
courses, and embedding technology into methods of
teaching and assessment. Faculty are utilising GenAI
to more quickly plan lessons and have more time to
give personal assistance to their students.
Survey data gathered by AACSB International
suggests these efforts are seen as a desirable option
for postgraduate study. The popularity of specialist
master’s programs in areas including, but not limited
to, tech and AI is a key reason for the steady rise in
applications to master’s programs across the business
education sector in the last six years.
HOW TO USE AI TO ENCOURAGE SELF-
REFLECTION
There are many different ways teachers can bring
AI into the classroom, but a common trend is to use
AI-powered business simulations. The advanced
language-processing capabilities of generative AI in
particular, lends itself to being used in this way. AI is
used to construct a real-world business scenario, and
the student learns by making a series of choices while
AI reveals the impact of their decisions.
This approach encourages student engagement, as
the simulation requires them to actively interact;
making choices. Simulations also provide students
with opportunities to tackle realistic challenges for
businesses in a safe and controlled environment.
After the exercise, they can reflect on their decisionmaking
process and identify how they may approach
the challenge differently in the future.
An ability to learn through self-reflection is an
essential skill for business leaders and is not
uncommon to have to return to the drawing board
multiple times in the process of launching a startup.
Students and future entrepreneurs need to be able to
iterate quickly, and business simulations offer insight
into how AI can be used to assist the process.
HOW TO USE AI TO SUPPORT LEARNING
AI can also be used to tailor instruction to the
20 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
LILY BI
unique learning needs of each student. Adaptive and
personalised learning became a reality. This utilises
AI’s advanced analytical capabilities to assess a
student’s performance how quickly they progress and
whether they would benefit from additional support.
Alternatively, the AI could offer assistance by
suggesting learning resources to bolster a student’s
understanding of a particular topic. A second option
would be for the AI to regulate how quickly students
are presented with new topics or learning materials,
ensuring each person learns at a pace that suits them.
The result is a personalised approach to education
that ensures no one is left behind.
HOW TO USE AI IN PROBLEM-SOLVING
A third approach to implementing AI in teaching at
business schools is to encourage students to use AI
for research, both in and outside the classroom. With
a teacher’s guidance and supervision, students can
learn to write detailed prompts, check the accuracy
of AI-generated content, and apply this content
in classroom debates, discussions, and written
assessments. This gives them the foundational skills
to use AI efficiently and ethically outside higher
education in the world of business.
Many schools make using AI for research purposes
essential for students in certain courses. Assessments
can move to how effectively students can employ
that knowledge to answer a question, argue a case, or
solve a challenge.
This focus on employing AI to assist with problemsolving
is highly applicable to entrepreneurship.
Startups maintain their competitive edge against
larger companies through agility. Entrepreneurs who
are well-versed in using AI to adapt quickly to new
challenges will create more resilient companies that
have a higher chance of achieving financial success.
HOW TO ENSURE BUSINESS EDUCATION STAYS
RELEVANT FOR THE FUTURE OF WORK
Against the backdrop of an international business
landscape being shaped by rapidly developing AI
technology, business schools are equipping graduates
with the skills to use AI efficiently and ethically,
while also teaching the human-centred skills of
critical thinking and emotional intelligence. We
support our accredited schools in advancing their
use of AI in the classroom because business schools
are vital in setting a strong foundation for learners
to develop an innovative mindset with AI at the
forefront.
AACSB produced a comprehensive report in April
“Building Future-Ready Business Schools with
Generative AI” which offers rich details, guidance
and advice which can support an up and coming
entrepreneur.
As the world’s longest-standing accrediting body
for business schools, AACSB’s mission is to foster
high-quality education that responds to the needs of
the global business community. This includes helping
students develop their proficiency with digital tools
like AI. Through our conferences, thought leadership,
and robust peer-review process, we will continue to
bring business schools and businesses together to
facilitate the creation of engaging, relevant degree
programmes that help students succeed in the age of
AI.

instrumental in establishing
Brabantia as a household name,
producing products which
are not only high quality but
also beautiful and sustainable.
The creation of the Bo Touch
bin, known for its chic design
features and colour ways, is their
proudest achievement to date.
Spring is a great
time to invest in
laundry essentials to
ensure you’re prepared
for more laundry days
UPGRADE YOUR KITCHEN
BIN
As the weather warms up, the
number of family gatherings
– both indoors and outdoors
– increases, and so does our
volume of waste. Investing in a
practical yet stylish waste bin,
with sufficient capacity will help
you stay on top of waste disposal
while adding a sleek touch to
your kitchen.
Opt for a bin with internal
buckets, such as Brabantia’s Bo
Touch Bin, to make light work of
waste separation and help with
recycling. Its touch lid provides
practical and hygienic benefits,
while the wide opening helps
minimise spillages. Plus, its
streamlined, space-saving design
fits closely against any wall or
conveniently in a corner to help
keep walkways clear.
LAUNDRY ESSENTIALS
With spring comes lighter
garments and more opportunities
to dry clothes outdoors. Spring is
a great time to invest in laundry
essentials – such as laundry
baskets, ironing boards, and
washing lines – to ensure you’re
prepared for more frequent
laundry days. This way, you can
prioritise enjoying time outdoors
with family and friends.
Opt for space-saving solutions,
such as Brabantia’s Table Top
Ironing Board or HangOn Drying
Rack, to help keep your space
clutter-free, especially as your
home becomes busier. These
designs will keep spring and
summer clothing looking fresh,
especially linen and lighter
cotton fabrics, which tend to
crease more easily but can be
conveniently stored away when
not in use.
If you have space in your garden
or on your balcony, a rotary
dryer is a worthy investment for
the spring and summer months.
It doesn’t need to be warm for
washing to dry on the line – a
dry, 5-degree day with a light
breeze is enough to dry clothes
and achieve that fresh-laundry
feeling. Plus, drying clothes
outside offers benefits beyond
saving money and energy. Using
a rotary line, such as Brabantia’s
Lift-O-Matic Dryer, is better for
your clothes, the planet, and your
wallet.
REFRESH YOUR PANTRY
A streamlined, organised pantry
makes food preparation a breeze.
As more delicious seasonal foods
make their way into our kitchens,
there’s no better time to give your
pantry a refresh. Sort through
your food supplies, ensuring
nothing has expired, and check
for produce that needs to be used
soon. Decant your everyday
essentials, such as pasta, rice,
and nuts and seeds, into labelled
storage containers to save space
and make them easier to find.
Opt for a clear, sealable design
that allows you to easily see the
contents while ensuring they stay
fresher for longer. Brabantia’s
Tasty+ Stackable Canisters come
in varying shapes and sizes and
are designed to stack effortlessly
in your pantry. Made from
durable, BPA-free plastic, each
canister is suitable for wet or dry
foods. They feature a seamless
body, offering a more hygienic
storage option that doesn’t trap
food. They’re also dishwasher
safe and come with a 5-year
guarantee.

2. FILL HALF YOUR PLATE WITH VEGGIES
At every meal, aim for half your plate to consist of
colourful, fresh, or cooked vegetables. This simple
rule boosts fibre intake (90% of of UK adults
don’t eat enough fibre), as well as adding in more
essential vitamins and minerals.
3. PREP LIKE A PRO
Batch cook in advance. Cook soups, roast sweet
potatoes, or prep lentil-based curries to ensure
healthy options are always within reach to avoid
giving into the temptation of fast-food takeaways
or sugar-laden snacks when you are feeling
hungry. Prepping saves time and makes it easier to
stick to your goals.
4. THINK GLOBAL FOR INSPO
Explore traditionally veg-heavy cuisines like
Thai, Indian, or Mediterranean. These naturally
centre on fresh, plant-based ingredients and bold
flavours destined to tempt your taste buds.
5. STEER CLEAR OF ULTRA PROCESSED
Seek out recipes which represent natural,
wholefoods rather than eating purchased meals
with ultra processed ingredients, as these will not
only be healthier (there is increasing awareness of
linking ultra-processed foods to potential health
risks), but since ultra-processed foods are likely
to make you feel hungrier, you may find yourself
consuming more calories which can lead to weight
gain.
6. TRY MEAT-FREE MONDAYS
If you’re a real meat-lover, why not initially try
experimenting with just one plant-based meal
a week to make a more seamless transition to
incorporating more plant-based ingredients into
the diet.? Try a deliciously creamy mushroom
linguine or hearty lentil shepherd’s pie. You’ll love
how easy and delicious these can be and will soon
be swapping in more plant-based meals – which
are healthier for you and your budget!
7. SNACK SMART
Rather than reaching for nutritionally poor snacks
such as crisps and sweets, switch these out for
healthier (and more filling options) like carrot
sticks and hummus, or roasted chickpeas with
tamari and nutritional yeast. Simple swaps like
these will make all the difference and will soon
become a habit.
8. INVOLVE YOUR COMMUNITY
Share your goals with friends and family or join
a healthy living challenge. Accountability makes
sticking to changes much easier.
9. ADD SOME BEANS
Add tinned beans, lentils or chickpeas to a curry
to increase the fibre content. Beans are also high
in protein and a great source of energy so they are
a brilliant addition at mealtimes when following a
plant based diet.
10. MAKE VEGGIE SNACKS
Cut up vegetables at the start of the week and
store them in the fridge as an easy snack and
serve the with houmous or homemade guacamole
for added nutrients. Or another great snack ideas
is roast tinned chickpeas or beans in the airfryer
with tamari and nutritional yeast for ten minutes.
These make a delicious snack for any time of the
day.

Preneur World talks to Michelin starred chef Diego
Cardoso about his Argentinian roots, the defining
moments of his career and creating CHIMMY’S
ew
Diego, your culinary journey has been
P extraordinary. What was the defining
moment when you knew food was your
calling?
Hard to say, really. I remember always
D being fascinated by food. And not
just the cooking side of it, but what it
means. Getting people together, the whole
experience of a family lunch. Growing
up in Argentina, weekends were always
about having the family over and doing big
barbecues, or asados as we call them back
home.
My first ever paid job as a teenager, was
in a bakery, so food related, and then I
was lucky enough to know some people
that ran a restaurant in New York. My dad
organised for me to go and spend a day in
the kitchen. It was utter chaos. The kitchen
was tiny, it was a Saturday brunch, and
the service was intense... and I loved every
minute of it!
From working alongside Gordon
P Ramsay and Angela Hartnett to
earning a Michelin Star, what
key lessons did you take from those
experiences?
I was incredibly lucky to meet
D Angela very early in my career, and
to have worked with her for 12 years.
She opened many doors in my career. I
think the key lesson that I learned isn’t
a big secret, but super valuable, and it is
‘consistency’. You must be consistent in
everything be that in your attitude, your
effort and your output.
Plus, kitchens are a high-pressure
environment, so working as a team and
looking after the team is also key. It’s all
about the team.
How has your Argentinian heritage
P shaped your approach to food, and how
do you balance those influences with
British tastes?
Argentina has a lot of Italian influence
D in its food, and that’s the type of
cuisine that has always attracted me -
fresh ingredients, and in season. Angela’s
cuisine and menus were, and still are,
heavily influenced by Italian flavours
which suited me perfectly. The UK is very
cosmopolitan with people from all over the
world which makes then quite open minded
in their tastes and a great place to work in
food.
As the Global VP of Culinary for
P Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, how
do you stay inspired to create fresh and
innovative menus?
I am lucky to be surrounded by a great
D team of chefs across the group and we
bounce ideas back and forth. I also
love to travel, and I’m fortunate to be able
to do this; seeing and tasting new things
keeps the creative juices flowing.
What do you believe discerning
P diners value most in today’s fine
dining experience, and how do you
ensure those values are at the heart of your
culinary creations?
I think value for money is key, but
D it’s the whole experience that matters.
Going out for dinner, especially for
a fine dining experience, is generally not
cheap. So, the whole experience, from
arrival, to service, to food to drinks needs
to be exactly on point.
London is one of the most competitive
P culinary cities in the world. What do
you think sets the London restaurant
scene apart from the rest of the world, and
where do you see it evolving in the next
decade?
I think all of this is driven by people.
D London is such a diverse city, with
people from all over the world and
everyone brings their own authentic take
on food to the table. Also, we have great
access to ingredients, which is crucial.
I think London will forever be a super
exciting city for food and will continue to
change and adapt to consumer demands.
I think the focus on sustainability and
waste, which is a key focus now, will
continue to grow too.
P
What advice would you give to
aspiring young chefs hoping to follow
in your footsteps?
PRENEUR WORLD 33
Hospitality is a fantastic industry, full of
D passionate people. If you want to go down this
route, fully commit. It’s not an easy industry, but
a super rewarding one. We get to feed people, every
day, and make people smile. How amazing is that?!?
We get to work side by side with people that are all
passionate about food and service.
Finally, stay curious and keep on learning.
Launching CHIMMY’S with your wife must
P have been such a passion project. What’s the
story behind its creation, and what do you hope
people feel when they taste your sauces?
Absolutely! Although it was never meant to
D be a business. Chimichurri is a staple in every
household back home but when we moved to
London we couldn’t find it in any of the stores, so
we had to make it ourselves. Of course, we shared
it with friends when they came over to eat and
gradually more and more asked us to make some
for them to take home. Over time they encouraged
us to do something more commercial with it, and
eventually we decided to give it a go.
Sofia and I just want people to love our sauces as
much as we do and to get excited about the flavours
we are sharing with them. Experiment with them, be
it with meat, fish or vegetables, and discover what is
possible!
P
What entrepreneurial challenges have you faced
getting CHIMMY’s where it is today, and how
have you overcome them?
There have been lots of challenges along the
D way, as with any new business. Making a sauce
at home in small batches is very different to
producing a sauce at scale to enter the market.
We had to work through supply chain as well as
distribution issues, while trying to understand the
market was a huge challenge. We had to learn who
our competitors were and how to penetrate the
market as a new product with a very small marketing
budget. Slowly the CHIMMY’S brand has become
more recognised, and it is now available from Ocado,
independent stores nationwide and Selfridges as well
as www.chimmys.com
It’s been a challenging yet very rewarding journey so
far.
How do you manage the balance between being
P a high-profile chef & entrepreneur in the fastpaced
culinary world and being the best husband
and father you can possibly be?
I would say I’m not great at finding the
D balance at all, but I am incredibly lucky to
have a super supportive wife as well as two
amazing daughters. And I do know there is nothing
I love more than spending time with them. But it’s
definitely hard balancing home life with work life,
especially as my job also means a lot of travel. I’d
say finding the right balance is still a job in progress.
P
You’ve achieved so much already, but what’s
next on your bucket list—personally and
professionally?
Professionally, I am in a super exciting time
D in my career. My favourite part is the teams I
work with, working together to tackle challenges
while doing lots of work in the UK as well as abroad.
Personally, I want to continue to travel with Sofia and
the girls. Our daughters are growing up so fast, so
we want to make the most of the years that they still
enjoy hanging out with us.
Lastly, if you could invite any four people, from
P the past or present, to a dinner party hosted by
you and your wife, who would they be, and what
would you cook for them?
We are both from Argentina, so that’s an
D impossible question to answer! We would want
to host a meal for all our friends and family. Sofi
and I went to school together, so we have the same
group of friends, add to this our family, brothers,
sisters with partners and kids… that’s the ideal meal
for us. Lots of people around a table.
Food… I am a sucker for childhood memories. Great
salads, empanadas, charcuterie, followed by the
most amazing asado of different cuts of meat. Garlic
potatoes, and lots of sauces… chimichurri of course!

Lovers of theatre, rejoice! As
headline sponsor of National
Theatre Live, Sky Arts is bringing
Frankenstein — Danny Boyle’s
electrifying adaptation of Mary
Shelley’s classic — directly to
your living room this March. This
visually stunning and emotionally
charged production, written
by Nick Dear, has captivated
audiences worldwide and now
makes its highly anticipated
television debut.
For over 15 years, National
Theatre Live has been a pioneer in
sharing the best of British theatre
with audiences across the globe.
This groundbreaking initiative
has released over 100 productions,
reaching over 13 million people
in 74 countries. Now, Sky Arts
continues this tradition by
making world-class theatre more
accessible than ever.
Premiering on 4 March at 9pm
(Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature)
and 11 March at 9pm (Benedict
Cumberbatch as the Creature),
Frankenstein delivers a thrilling
theatrical experience. Directed by
Academy Award-winner Danny
Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog
Millionaire), this bold retelling of
Shelley’s masterpiece explores the
tragic and complex relationship
between creator and creation.
Phil Edgar-Jones, Executive
Director, Unscripted Originals

CHARACTER STUDY OF THE
CREATURE
Speaking about the Creature,
Benedict Cumberbatch said:
“The Creature wants to be part
of society. He wants to belong—
it’s a very endearing thing to
watch evolve. You really care for
him because he is a man-child.
There’s a lot of humour in that, but
there’s also a lot of raw pain. This
lost thing, as he’s called—this
unformed, highly sensitive, strong,
determined fighter.”
Cumberbatch went on to say:
“He’s not trusted at any point. The
only thing that forces him to exile
himself from what he longs to
be a part of is the hope of having
a companion—and that’s taken
away from him.”
CHARACTER STUDY OF
VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN
Speaking about Victor
Frankenstein, Cumberbatch said:
“Victor is a man trying to achieve
something otherworldly, Godlike.
He wants to conquer humanity
and stand aloof from it in his
obsession. He puts everything
aside until he achieves greatness,
while the Creature longs to be part
of society.”
The production explores the fragile
boundary between humanity
and monstrosity, told from the
Creature’s perspective. The play
is filled with kinetic energy, from
its haunting industrial set to its
dynamic lighting effects, creating
an unforgettable experience.

Harry Skelton about racing glory, family legacies,
what motivates him and life beyond the racetrack
ew
P
Harry, you’ve had an incredible journey
P in your career as a jockey and compete
with some of the best. Who are your
idols or mentors in the horse racing world
and can you describe the sense of fulfillment
in knowing that your hard work has brought
you to this point?
My role models growing up were AP
H McCoy and Richard Johnson, there
were so many admirable jockeys when
I was younger, and I felt very lucky and
privileged to come into racing when I did and
race against the likes of AP and Richard.
I’d like to hope that I’ve put plenty into the
sport and I’ve got a lot back from racing. It
gives me great pleasure to put all the work in
and to see that it has been rewarded is a good
feeling. In life you only get back what you
put in.
You’re riding nearly every day, pushing
P yourself to new limits for titles like the
Jump Jockey Championship. What’s the
mental and emotional strength that gets you
through those long, demanding days? What
drives you to keep going, even when the
fatigue sets in?
For me it is the good horses that really
H get you through those long and hard
days and give you the mental strength
to keep going. I am lucky to ride a lot of very
talented horses which I thank my brother
Dan for, and I am never too far away from a
winner.
In any sport you have got to be tough because
you must take the beatings and come back
from. Ultimately, you get beat a lot more than
you win and as you get older you learn that
and grow from it.
With a father like Nick Skelton, and all
the success he’s achieved, how have you
learned to embrace his legacy while
carving your own path? In what ways does
his story inspire you, but also allow you to
define your own version of success?
My dad was very successful growing
H up, which become normal in our
household. He would be riding around
the country and often globally, a lot of the
time this would be at weekends. We would
see him on a Monday before we went to
school and asked him how it went; it would
either be good news that he won and if not,
we wouldn’t talk about it.
Following in his footsteps of such a
successful career, I always wanted to achieve
the best could. Winning was what it was all
about when we were growing up, as kids it
was all we ever wanted to achieve, we were
never happy with second. Even now much
further along in my career, I always want to
make him proud of what I achieve. It has
always been in the back of my mind as a way
of repaying him for what he gave us when we
were younger.
You’re undoubtedly at the top of your
P game, but when you think about a win,
what does it truly represent for you? Is
it more about the horse beneath you, or the
journey you’ve taken together, and the bond
you’ve built?
To have a winner is what it is about,
H ultimately it is my job to ride winners
for owners, all connections, and the
horse. There is no feeling like the kick
you get when you have a winner, and it is
fulfilling to pass the enjoyment on to the
owners who can enjoy it for a bit longer, but
for us jockeys we then have to focus on the
next ride. You could have eight rides a day,
with just half an hour between each, so it is
nonstop but very rewarding when you have a
good day.
You’ve got many other sporting
P passions from show jumping to cycling
and skiing. How do these activities
contribute to your overall well-being
and mindset? How do they enhance your
performance as a jockey?
I love cycling, it is a good release, and
H it takes my mind off the day job which
is important. It also makes you fresher
for a day’s racing if you’ve not a day off, a
change is as good as a break.
I really enjoy going away when I can,
especially skiing, it freshens up your mind
gets you in a strong headspace. After a few
days off I am always and ready to get back to
racing.
They say horses are a family affair.
P Being part of such a family with
your father and brother must bring a
unique sense of connection. How does your
relationship with Dan and Nick inspire your
own personal growth and approach to racing?
PRENEUR WORLD 41
My brother Dan and my dad have been very
H successful so I don’t want to let the side down,
they have put a lot of belief in me which motivates
me to do the best job I can, which helps me to achieve
everything I do on the track.
As a dog lover and owner of two whippets, how
P would you describe the universal bond between
man and dog? What advice would you give to
someone thinking about buying a new dog, especially a
whippet?
I own two lovely whippets, and I really enjoy their
H company. They are very laid-back characters in
the house, and they love affection. They are very
easy going and are short runners, so they get their
energy used up quickly after a run about. It is nice to
have them around, and at the end of a long day whether
it’s bad or good they are always happy to see you. I
would definitely advise anyone who loves dogs to get a
whippet!
With so much success already under your belt,
P do you ever find yourself reflecting on what truly
motivates you? Is it the thrill of the win, or is it the
sense of personal growth, mastery, and pushing beyond
what you thought was possible?
Without a doubt winning is the biggest motivation,
H but as I have progressed in my career, I find more
fulfilment in being able to deliver on the big days
and win more prestigious races, and it is now what I
really want to push for. There are always new goals,
and until you have won absolutely everything there is
always something else you can win!
Being married to fellow jockey Bridget Andrews
P must provide a special kind of support. How does
having someone who truly understands the highs
and lows of being a jockey help you stay grounded and
focused on your goals, both in and out of the saddle?
Being married to Bridget who was also a jockey
H means she truly understand the highs and lows.
However, it is very important to me now to just
move on and leave it at the racecourse and to not bring
it home and inside the house. There’s much more
important things to focus on at home, especially now
we have our little boy, Rory.
P
The David Power Jockeys’ Cup is a coveted
prize, but beyond the financial reward, what does
it represent for you? Is it a symbol of reaching
42 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
the pinnacle of your craft, or does it offer something
deeper—like the opportunity to inspire others and leave
a lasting legacy in the world of racing?
I think that the David Power Jockeys’ Cup is going
H to be a challenge for jockeys, you have to be able
to deliver on the big days as these races are on
ITV, which comes with added pressure.
To win the points there is going to be a lot of skill
needed in the rides which will bring out the best
in jockeys and hopefully the public can also enjoy
watching the competition and follow the sport with
more interest. It is an exciting prospect for the sport.
If you could invite any five people—dead or
P alive—to a dinner party, who would you choose
and why? What would you hope to learn from
them?
The five people I would invite to a dinner party
H would be Sir Alex Ferguson, John Magnier, Mark
Cavendish, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Roger Federer.
I would invite these people as they have all reached the
very top in their profession and have made everything
they have from underneath them over such longstanding
careers. Their discipline has also obviously
been second to none, and I would hope to learn a thing
or two from them.
P
We all have those moments that make us laugh.
What’s the funniest or most memorable thing that’s
happened to you in the paddock or at the stables?
One of the funniest things I have seen on a
H racecourse was at Newbury Racecourse when a
horse was going to the start, and it took off with a
jockey and jumped a steeplechase fence backwards.
P
H
What’s the last text message you received that
made you smile, and who was it from?
The last message that made me smile was from
Bridget, and it was a picture of our little boy Rory.
Beyond the world of racing, if you could take a
P month off to fully immerse yourself in any one of
your other interests or passions, which one would
you choose and why?
I would choose skiing; I just love everything
H about it and when you get the good weather is
it beautiful. I love the food and how you can do
as much or as little as you want, you can also see and
experience things and challenge yourself.

Perfect Pairings: Classic and
Unusual Matches for Champagne
Champagne is the ultimate gastronomic chameleon, capable of
elevating everything from delicate seafood to indulgent desserts. While
classic pairings never fail, exploring more unexpected matches can
unlock new layers of complexity.
CHAMPAGNE: THE ULTIMATE
FOOD COMPANION
Beyond luxury and celebration,
Champagne is a food-friendly
powerhouse. Its vibrant acidity,
delicate mousse, and complex
flavour profiles mean there’s a
style for every dish. Whether
indulging in classic pairings
or daring to try something
unexpected, one thing is certain—
Champagne belongs at the table as
much as in the toast.
Here are some classic suggestions
with a few unexpected twists.
NON-VINTAGE BRUT
The all-rounder of the Champagne
world, NV Brut thrives as an
aperitif but truly shines alongside
food. Its crisp acidity and biscuity
notes make it perfect for freshly
shucked oysters, crispy fried
chicken, or delicate white fish.
The contrast between the bubbles
and the richness of fried food is
particularly divine. For a leftfield
pairing, try it with truffle
fries—its acidity slices through
the richness while enhancing the
umami.
ROSÉ CHAMPAGNE
With its vibrant red fruit
character, rosé offers the perfect
bridge between delicate and robust
dishes. A seared sirloin steak finds
balance in its refreshing acidity,
while a red onion tatin enhances
its savoury-sweet contrast. Sushi
– especially salmon nigiri –
beautifully complements its berryrich
profile, while a surprising
match is Peking duck, where
the Champagne’s fruitiness cuts
through the crispy skin and hoisin
glaze.
BLANC DE BLANCS
This 100% Chardonnay
Champagne is all about
citrusy elegance. Its
lively minerality
pairs seamlessly
with zesty
ceviche,
while the fresh acidity cuts
through the creaminess of goat’s
cheese. For a sweet finish, a
classic lemon tart mirrors its
bright, refined character. Want
something different? Parmesan
crisps highlight its saline edge,
creating an elegant and moreish
snack.
BLANC DE NOIRS
Made entirely from black grapes,
Blanc de Noirs boasts richness
and structure. A bold surf and
turf dish plays to its weight, while
earthy mushroom risotto enhances
its depth. A platter of charcuterie
is another wonderful match,
allowing the wine’s complexity to
unfold. Even a rich truffle burger
finds harmony with its opulent
character.
VINTAGE CHAMPAGNE
Aged to perfection, vintage
Champagne pairs beautifully
with foie gras, lobster, and
shellfish. Its layers of brioche,
nuts, and honey also harmonise
with mature cheeses, creating a
decadent flavour symphony. A
lesser-known but equally sublime
match? Buttered popcorn, where
the wine’s toasty notes mirror the
savoury, caramelised richness of
the snack.
DEMI-SEC CHAMPAGNE
With its touch of sweetness,
Demi-Sec is a natural partner
for Asian sweet and sour dishes.
It also enhances fruit-based
desserts, making it a magnificent
match for tarte tatin or millefeuille.
For an alternative, try blue
cheese drizzled with honey—the
contrast of sweet and salty is truly
unforgettable.

Unlock the True Potential of Wine
with the Science of Perfect Aeration
By Jonathan Kleeman, sommelier &
award-winning wine consultant
For centuries, wine enthusiasts have sought to
enhance their drinking experience through the
simple yet transformative process of aeration. At its
core, aeration allows wine to interact with oxygen,
unleashing its hidden complexities and softening
harsh tannins. Whether you’re dealing with a robust
red or a delicate white, the right approach to aeration
can elevate your enjoyment.
The traditional decanter is a staple for this practice.
A large vessel increases the wine’s surface area,
enabling oxygen to permeate the liquid quickly.
Pouring less wine into a larger decanter accelerates
the process but also increases oxidation, which can
be detrimental if overdone. The goal is balance:
allowing the wine to breathe without compromising
its integrity.
UNDERSTANDING THE OBJECTIVES OF
AERATION
Aeration is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Its purpose
depends on the type and age of the wine:
1. For Young Wines: Aeration encourages
development, softening astringent tannins and
highlighting fruit-forward characteristics.
2. For Mature Wines: Older wines, often labeled
“shy,” benefit from gradual oxygen exposure to
awaken subtle flavors and aromas hidden during
years of storage.
3. To Remove Sediments: Particularly relevant for
aged wines, decanting also serves a practical purpose
by separating the wine from sediments.
Avoid the common mistake of uncorking a bottle and
leaving the wine in it, hoping for adequate aeration.
This method is ineffective, as the narrow bottleneck
minimizes oxygen contact. Instead, consider
alternative methods to maximize the wine’s exposure
to air.
METHODS OF AERATION: FROM CLASSIC TO
CONTEMPORARY
Classic Decanting: As mentioned, the decanter
remains a reliable method. For best results, ensure
the wine flows smoothly along the decanter’s walls,
maximizing its oxygen exposure.
Double Decanting: Pouring wine into a decanter and
then back into its original bottle is a practical way to
aerate while maintaining the bottle’s aesthetic appeal.
Swirling in Glass: A simple, old-fashioned approach.
By swirling wine in a glass, you increase its contact
with oxygen. It’s particularly effective for personal
servings.
While these techniques remain effective, they’re
often time-consuming and labour-intensive. Enter
modern innovation, which has revolutionized how we
approach aeration.
CUTTING-EDGE AERATION SOLUTIONS
Recent technological advancements have introduced
devices designed to streamline the aeration process.
Traditional tools, such as handheld aerators with
52 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
perforations or swirling tracks, are effective but
can be messy. The latest generation of tools, like
contactless aerators, offers unparalleled convenience.
Take, for instance, the electromagnetic wave
technology employed by the Kairos Aerator. This
device delivers precise aeration in seconds rather
than hours, providing users with tailored settings
for different wine types. Such advancements have
redefined the boundaries of wine enjoyment, making
premium practices accessible to all.
PRACTICAL TIPS FOR PERFECT AERATION
1. Match the Tool to the Wine: Young, tannic reds
benefit from longer aeration, while delicate whites
require gentler exposure.
2. Use the Right Glassware: Tall glasses with
sufficient bowl space enhance aeration. Ensure the
wine surface is above the aerator’s operational level,
if using devices.
3. Experiment with Time: Adjust aeration times
based on your wine’s varietal, region, and vintage.
Devices with customizable settings make this
process intuitive.
4. Cleanliness is Key: Whether using a decanter or
modern aerator, ensure your tools are clean to avoid
contaminating the wine’s flavour.
Perfect aeration is both a science and an art.
By understanding the principles behind oxygen
exposure and leveraging the right tools, anyone can
transform their wine-drinking experience. Whether
you’re using a classic decanter, swirling in a glass,
or embracing modern technology, the ultimate
goal remains the same: unlocking your wine’s true
potential.
While I’m typically inclined toward traditional
methods, the advent of advanced tools like the
Kairos Aerator offers compelling advantages.
Combining precision with ease, it caters to seasoned
sommeliers and curious newcomers alike—proof
that innovation and tradition can harmoniously
coexist in the world of wine.
Remember, every glass has a story. Aeration helps
you tell it in its finest form.

A Parents’ Guide to Supporting the
Learning of Exceptionally Able Children
By Dr Martina Geromin, Co-Founder at School Beyond Limitations
and published academic author with 35 years in education and research
Giftedness should always be viewed as uniqueness,
and it is important to recognise that every child is
unique and gifted in some way. Spotting if your
child is exceptionally gifted whether academically or
creatively, involves observing several key behaviours
and characteristics. Exceptionally gifted or abled
children often display intense curiosity and a desire
to learn about a wide range of topics. They will
frequently ask probing questions that go way beyond
their age or school year. They might also grasp
new concepts more quickly than other children and
demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, often
completing tasks and understanding material
much faster than their peers. Often, if a
child is ahead of their classmates
on a regular basis, this can
lead to boredom, emotional
sensitivity and even disruptive
behaviour so it is important
to pin-point why your child
might be behaving this way.
So, as a parent what signs
can you look out for at
home and in school that
might indicate your child is
gifted? Initially, there are five
key areas to consider
COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Your child frequently uses advanced
vocabulary and complex sentences when
speaking to others.
You notice they seem to learn quickly and
grasp concepts without you having to repeat the
information again.
You may also notice they have an intense level of
curiosity and always seem to be asking you deep,
probing and intense questions.
EMOTIONAL SENSITIVITY
Exceptionally able children often show heightened
empathy for others and can have a strong sense of
justice, fighting or arguing for what they believe in
regardless of their surroundings.
Able children can also be very emotionally intense
and sensitive around others. You may notice they
seem to cry at the slightest thing or become easily
upset. They are also often deeply affected by world
events and scenarios around them.
Having friendship issues in school or finding it
difficult to connect with other children can also be a
sign that a child is gifted and is struggling to relate to
their peers.
CREATIVITY AND PROBLEM-SOLVING
Gifted children will usually demonstrate original
thinking outside of what is expected for their age,
and they will often suggest innovative solutions to
everyday problems.
You might also notice that your child
prefers to explore multiple approaches
rather than conventional routes, i.e.,
they may not follow instructions
well, or take direction from
others. They will likely want
to find their own approach.
BEHAVIOUR
Does your child seem a bit
obsessive at times? A key
behaviour trait of a gifted
child can include having a
persistent focus on specific
topics of interest, sometimes to
the point of obsession.
You may also notice your child
seems to have high energy levels,
rarely seems tired or has difficulty
adapting to routines, especially if they feel bored.
Boredom is also a key trait for the gifted child. A
child that becomes easily bored in the classroom
and at home will likely showcase lively or disruptive
behaviour.
ASYNCHRONOUS DEVELOPMENT
Probably one of the lesser-known traits of an
exceptionally able child is uneven skill development.
For example, they may display advanced intellectual
abilities way above their peers, yet they also display
age-appropriate emotional behaviours and might have
trouble controlling their reactions and responses to
certain scenarios.
As well as these key areas, parents can also look for
58 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
more obvious early achievements in areas such as
reading, math, arts, or musical abilities that surpass
typical developmental milestones for their age.
Although having a gifted child can be challenging,
as a parent it is important to encourage exploration in
areas your child shows an interest in and to consult
your child’s teachers or if appropriate, a professional
psychological expert for formal assessment.
NAVIGATING TRICKY CONVERSATIONS
The danger for an exceptionally able child is that
they don’t feel seen or heard or their disruptive
behaviour or boredom is misinterpreted, which
may undermine the child’s emotional and academic
development. Another significant concern is the
potential for their child to lose interest in learning
due to lack of challenge or engagement which could
lead to disengagement from schoolwork altogether.
Additionally, there is the fear that the child’s
creativity and sense of fulfilment could be stifled. If
the school environment prioritises conformity over
individual exploration, exceptionally able children
may feel pressured to “fit in,” which can dampen
their innovative thinking and intrinsic joy in their
talents.
If you suspect your child is being held back in class
and is ahead of their peers, or you feel they are not
being adequately challenged in school, approaching
the school thoughtfully and collaboratively is
essential. As a parent you want to achieve the best
outcomes for your child, so putting them at the
centre of your discussions but in a diplomatic way,
is crucial. Here are some tips to help navigate these
conversations effectively:
1. SPEAK TO YOUR CHILD’S CLASS TEACHER
OR MENTOR FIRST
The first point of contact should be your child’s class
teacher or mentor, as they have the most day-to-day
interaction with your child. Share your observations
about your child’s talents and experiences and ask for
their advice. Opening the conversation with curiosity
rather than making assumptions, will create a positive
environment for mutual understanding.
2. FOCUS ON YOUR CHILD’S UNIQUENESS, NOT
SUPERIORITY
Emphasise your child’s unique talents without
framing them as being “better” than others. Highlight
that every student has their strengths and that your
goal is to explore ways to nurture your child’s
specific abilities while respecting the diversity within
the class. This perspective prevents fostering a sense
of entitlement or comparison in your child, helping
them appreciate their individuality as part of a
broader community.
3. WORK TOGETHER WITH YOUR SCHOOL TO
FIND CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
Work together with your child’s teacher to identify
ways to challenge them within the classroom setting.
Options might include, differentiated learning
strategies, enrichment projects tailored to your
child’s personal interests, group activities that allow
them to mentor peers or explore advanced concepts
and opportunities for cross-grade learning, such as
joining older students for certain subjects. You could
also look at exploring external opportunities, like
clubs, workshops, or mentorship programmes, to
complement the school’s efforts.
4. ENGAGE A BROADER NETWORK IF
NECESSARY
If your discussion with your child’s teacher highlights
broader challenges, consider involving other
professionals. This might include school counsellors,
gifted education specialists, or external mentors.
Building a network ensures your child’s unique
talents are recognised and nurtured from multiple
perspectives.
5. AVOID COMPARISON CULTURE
It is crucial to help your child understand that their
uniqueness is one of the many forms of talent within
the school. Reinforce the idea that everyone has
something special to offer and that their strengths are
a contribution, not a measure of superiority. Support
your child’s growth in a way that integrates learning
into everyday life without making it a “big deal.”
This mindset fosters a healthy self-concept and an
appreciation of diversity.
6. KEEP TALKING
Follow up regularly with your school to assess
progress and make adjustments as needed for your
child. Maintain a collaborative tone, emphasising
shared goals of supporting your child’s growth
while respecting the overall classroom dynamic. By
focusing on collaboration, creativity, and the unique
nature of all students, you can ensure that your child’s
talents are nurtured in a way that benefits them and
the entire school community.

Bridging the Nutrition Gap: A
Guide For Parents of Picky Eaters
For many parents, mealtimes
with a picky eater can feel like a
daily battle. If your child refuses
vegetables and whole fruit, or
only consumes small amounts
through juices and purees, it’s
natural to worry about their
nutritional intake. “In today’s
busy lifestyles, giving children
all the nutrients they need, every
day, can be challenging enough,
but it is even harder if your child
is a picky eater,” says Melissa
Snover, Founder of Nourished
and qualified nutritionist.
Fortunately, modern supplements
like the Nourished Kids Picky
Eater Stack can help bridge these
gaps. Designed to replenish the
nourishment typically found in
fruits and vegetables, this sugarfree,
3D-printed gummy is packed
with essential vitamins, minerals,
and nutrients to support overall
health and development. But what
can parents realistically expect
after three months of use, and
how can they further supplement
missing fibre and plant-based
phytonutrients? We explore the
science behind this innovative
product and some practical
solutions to ensure your child gets
everything they need for optimal
health.
THE NOURISHED KIDS PICKY
EATER STACK
This carefully curated supplement
contains 11 essential vitamins,
minerals, and nutrients that play
a vital role in a child’s physical,
mental, and emotional well-being.
Each sour cola-flavoured gummy
is designed to deliver key benefits:
1. Vitamin A – Supports normal
vision, immune function, and cell
growth.
2. Vitamin E – Acts as an

antioxidant, protecting cells from
oxidative stress and supporting
skin health.
3. Folic Acid – Aids in healthy cell
and tissue growth, playing a role
in energy production and DNA
formation.
4. Vitamin D3 – Essential for
bone and teeth development and
contributes to mood regulation.
5. Vitamin C – Strengthens the
immune system and supports
collagen production for healthy
skin.
6. Vitamin B12 – Supports red
blood cell formation, energy
metabolism, and neurological
health.
7. Iron – Helps oxygen transport,
cognitive development, and
prevents fatigue.
8. Zinc – Boosts immune function,
supports wound healing, and
contributes to healthy hair, skin,
and nails.
9. CoQ10 – Supports energy
production in cells and acts as a
powerful antioxidant.
10. Lycopene – A naturally
occurring carotenoid with
antioxidant properties that support
heart health.
11. Beetroot Powder – Provides
dietary nitrates that enhance blood
flow and stamina.
“It’s often difficult to introduce
enough fruit and vegetables
into children’s diets, yet it is
so important for them to get
a wide variety, as without
these they are missing out on
many essential nutrients,” adds
Snover. By incorporating this
daily supplement into a child’s
routine, parents can expect to see
noticeable improvements in their
child’s overall health and wellbeing.
WHAT CHANGES CAN
PARENTS EXPECT AFTER
THREE MONTHS?
A child who has been consistently
taking the Nourished Kids Picky
Eater Stack for three months may
exhibit several physical, mental,
and emotional improvements due
to better nutrient intake:
Increased Energy Levels – Iron,
B12, and CoQ10 help enhance
oxygen transport and cellular
energy production, helping
to reduce fatigue and improving
stamina.
Stronger Immunity – Vitamin C,
D3, and Zinc can support immune
function, potentially leading to
fewer colds and infections.
Healthier Skin, Hair, and Nails –
Vitamins A and E can contribute
to clearer skin, stronger nails, and
shinier hair.
Better Bone and Teeth
Development – Vitamin D3 and
iron can aid in bone growth and
help strengthen teeth.
Improved Concentration and
Focus – Iron, B12, and CoQ10
help enhance brain oxygen supply,
supporting better cognitive
function and learning.
Mood Stability and Emotional
Regulation – Vitamin D3
and folic acid help influence
neurotransmitters, potentially
reducing irritability and mood
swings.
More Consistent Energy Levels
– With iron and B vitamins
preventing deficiencies, mood
fluctuations related to energy dips
may become less frequent.

essential nourishments found in

suggests. While this supplement
significantly boosts essential
nutrients, it does not fully replace
the diverse benefits of whole
fruits and vegetables—especially
dietary fibre and plant-based
phytonutrients. So how can
parents further close the gap?
If your child refuses vegetables
and whole fruit, here are some
practical suggestions on how to
introduce fibre and phytonutrients
in a way they’ll accept:
FIBRE-RICH SOLUTIONS FOR
PICKY EATERS
1. Smoothies with Hidden Fibre
– Blend bananas, berries, or
mango with oat bran, chia seeds,
flaxseeds, or psyllium husk. A
small amount of nut butter or
vanilla yoghurt can help mask
textures.
2. Fibre-Fortified Foods – Opt
for cereals, pasta, and bread with
added fibre or wholegrain blends.
3. Powdered Fibre Supplements –
Inulin, acacia fibre, or prebiotic
fibre powders mix easily into
drinks, porridge, or yoghurt.
4. Legume-Based Crisps or Pasta
– Chickpea, lentil, or black beanbased
products add fibre without a
vegetable taste.
PHYTONUTRIENT-RICH
SOLUTIONS FOR PICKY
EATERS
1. Superfood Powders – Berry or
greens powders (like baobab, acai,
or spirulina) can be mixed into
juices, yoghurts, or homemade
lollies.
2. Freeze-Dried Fruit & Veggie
Crisps – More palatable due to
their crunch and mild flavour.
3. Flavoured Probiotic Drinks –
Kefir or fortified yoghurts often
contain plant polyphenols.
4. Flavoured Nut Butter Blends –
Some brands incorporate cacao,
dates, or hidden veggies while
tasting like a treat.
By combining innovative
supplements like the Nourished
Kids Picky Eater Stack with
these smart dietary strategies,
parents can ensure their child gets
the essential nutrition they need

Parents have new
responsibilities to help
their children use AI
responsibly and safely
According to a report from the
National Literacy Trust, 77.1
percent of UK students aged 13
to 18 used generative AI in 2024.
This increased from just 37.1
percent compared to the previous
year. Love it or loath it, AI is here
to stay, and its use in schools is
only going to increase as this new
technology advances and matures.
New AI applications come to
market everyday as corporate
giants and entrepreneurs alike
look to profit from innovation and
use AI to improve efficiency and
add value to their enterprise.
Children and young people
increasingly have access to
these powerful — and often
untested and little-understood—
technologies at home and in
school. Busy parents, teachers,
and school leaders have new
responsibilities to help their
children use AI responsibly and
safely. To keep young people
safe while they learn new digital
literacy skills for the Age of
AI, we must be transparent by
explaining the technology’s
benefits and limitations.
Here are my top five tips for
using AI in learning ethically and
effectively.
1. BE CAUTIOUS
Firstly, it sounds simple, but
the most important thing is
to remind your children to be
careful when using AI. Although
the technology is already in
widespread use, it is still new,
learning and evolving every
day. Ensure your children are
mindful of privacy; they should
not share personally identifiable
information. As everyone must
learn these days, if a service is
free, then we (information about
us) is the product and the price we
pay. Anything you or your child
share with public AI, such as your
address or financial information,
might be stored, used, and
potentially accessed and used by
others.
2. STAY HONEST &
ENCOURAGE YOUR CHILD TO
DO THE SAME
Learning how to act with integrity
is a life lesson that has new
dimensions in a world filled with
generative AI. Talk with your
children about how they are using
AI in their schoolwork. Learn
about school and exam board
policies for academic honesty and
the use of generative AI. Don’t
let AI undercut learning. Explore
what’s possible together, exploring
how AI can support learning
diversity, boost creativity, and
personalise learning. Discuss with
your child’s teachers how they
are ensuring that assessments are
authentic, effective, and fair. If
your child simply passes on their
work to AI, they fail themselves
and cheat the learning process.
Also, keep in mind that many AI
technologies have user agreements
that limit their use by children and
66 PRENEUR WORLD www.preneur-world.com
younger teenagers.
3. APPLY CRITICAL THINKING
AI accelerates the 21st century’s demand for critical
thinkers. Help your child discover that AI tools often
get it wrong, even if the answer sounds correct or
convincing. To vastly oversimplify an amazing new
technology, AI works by solving credibly complicated
statistics problems very quickly – it can not generate
new ideas and often presents out of date or factually
incorrect information. It also struggles to understand
context, background information, relationships,
and ethics. Help your children learn how to identify
synthetic media (AI generated images, audio,
and video) and be critical consumers of online
information. Individuals and societies will be
grappling even more with important questions about
what is real and what is true.
4. REMEMBER WHAT IT MEANS TO BE
‘HUMAN’
AI can be dangerous, even deadly. ‘Killer robots’
are still in the realm of science fiction, but AI has
already led to tragedy for vulnerable young people.
Please help your children understand that AI is
not human, and digital friends can be dangerous
and untrustworthy advisors. AI can mimic human
emotions, but technology sometimes escapes
from—or is not sufficiently encoded with—a moral
compass. In many case, AI technology (like other
online applications) is trying to keep you online
so that its designers can develop lucrative income
streams from data mining and advertising. And if
you are developing educational or popular resources
powered by AI, make sure you are keeping humans in
the loop.
5. EMBRACE THE TECHNOLOGY
Finally, my last tip is to experiment with these
new technologies and truly embrace the amazing
resources that generative AI can unleash for
education, business, and personal life. AI is here to
stay, with billions being invested in ways to increase
automation, creativity, and efficiency. Do not shy
away from AI. Explore it together with your family,
understand how it works, experiment with cautious
optimism, learn to use it responsibly to your child’s
advantage. Become an expert at prompt engineering.
Improve your world language skills. Save time at
work and in domestic administration that you can
invest in maintaining loving relationships with your
children and having fun with your family. When it
comes to AI, that’s the best use of all.
