You are reading a special edition of

ACCOMPLISH Magazine as we join women,

all over the world, to commemorate this

year's International Women's Day. Recall

that the first time we dedicated an edition

of ACCOMPLISH Magazine to an issue was

in March 2024, when we honoured the late

banking genius, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, after his

shocking and untimely death last year.

Historically, the first International Women's

Day (IWD) was held on March 19, 1911 in several

European countries. However, the necessity

for the event took a higher dimension on

March 8, 1917, when women in Petrograd (St.

Petersburg), Russia, went on strike to protest

food shortages, poor living conditions, and

World War I. In 1921, the date of IWD was

officially changed to March 8th.

This year's theme is "For ALL women and

girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment". To

align with this theme, we have put together,

several women-focused articles beginning

with Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,

Africa's first democratically elected female

leader, gracing our cover page. She dared to

make a difference in political and economic

development in her country, Liberia, and

earned international recognition.

SPECIAL DAY!

SPECIAL DAY!

INTERNATIONAL

WOMEN'S DAY:

APPLYING GENDER PRIORITY

STRATEGY IN AFRICA

by Princess Lalaa King

Gender priority is

the intentional

focus on

addressing

gender

inequalities and promoting

gender equality in various

aspects of society. It

involves prioritising policies,

programmes, and initiatives

that aim to improve the

social, economic, and

political status of all genders,

particularly women and girls,

who often face systemic

disadvantages. Prioritising

gender for national

development in Nigeria has

been deepened with gender

issues mainstreamed in

policy implementation.

The Revised 2021-2026

National Gender Policy aims

to bridge gender and social

inclusion gaps, protect

women's human rights, and

promote women's economic

empowerment. This policy

provides strategic guidance

for mainstreaming gender

at all levels. In education

and health, supporting

women and girls' education,

lifelong health, and survival

is crucial while in economic

empowerment, state

preeminence is harnessing

women's human capital

assets as a growth driver for

national development.

Governance and leadership have

included advancing women's

participation and representation

in headship and authority,

guaranteeing that women have a

voice in decision-making processes

while integrating gender equity

concerns into social protection,

humanitarian actions, legislations,

and policies have helped to ensure

that socially excluded groups are

being integrated into the prevailing

development practices. There have

been deliberate, planned steps at

implementing and enforcing laws

that protect women's rights and

promote equality, making gender

issues intersect with various other

social issues, creating a complex web

of challenges in Nigeria.

Gender Priority Strategy (GEPS) is a

comprehensive approach aimed

at advancing gender equality and

empowering women. It delves into

advocacy and policy; education and

training; community impact projects;

collaboration and partnerships; and,

of course, monitoring and evaluation;

inclusively, GEPS plays a crucial role

in promoting gender equality and

empowering women by addressing

the root causes of gender disparities

and fostering an inclusive society.

There are examples of GEPS

programmes in Nigeria, which

include Wah Community, Taraba

State; the Community and Social

Development Project (CSDP) has

significantly improved the lives

of residents in Wah. The project

included the construction of a water

storage facility that captures spring

water, providing drinkable water

right in homes. This has reduced

the burden on women and children

who previously had to walk long

distances to fetch water. Then,

there’s the Ola Community, Osun

State; the CSDP in Osun State has

led to the development of essential

infrastructure such as roads, toilets,

electricity, water, and a bridge. These

improvements have enhanced

the quality of life for community

members and provided better

access to basic services.

CROWN’s

TIARA (Tested

and Inspired

for All-Round

Achievements)

Programme for

the Girl Child

is redefining

this space by

removing the

competitive

element from

pageants.

The concept

of "winners

and losers"

is profoundly

unreasonable,

illogical,

inappropriate,

and patently

absurd.

In the South East/South South,

Community Reset Opportunities

for Women Now (CROWN),

has been working as pageant

chaperone for two decades, and

CROWN beauty competitions

which promise self-transformation

and personal growth are often not

as glamorous in reality. CROWN’s

TIARA (Tested and Inspired

for All-Round Achievements)

Programme for the Girl Child

is redefining this space by

removing the competitive

element from pageants. The

concept of "winners and losers" is

profoundly unreasonable, illogical,

inappropriate, and patently

absurd.

CROWN's other flagship

programmes are WIIVES (Women

in Integrated Vocations and

Entrepreneurship Skills), and WIFE

(Women in Farming Enterprise);

empowering women in Niger Delta

communities by helping them

gain visibility and prominence. This

enables them to tell their stories,

boost their economic power,

and combat the feminisation of

poverty.

In conclusion, it is apparent that

applying gender priority strategy

in African countries is a win-win

solution in view of decades-long

worries about the neglect or

patronising 'opportunities' handed

down to women in most African

countries. Gender priority strategy

is, therefore, not a proposition

against men but a demand for

more equitable distribution of

opportunities, job placements

performance evaluation etc.; a

development that would boost

women's sense of self worth and

appreciation, which would in

turn add verve to their increasing

contributions to local and national

development.

Legacies of Africa's First

Elected Female President

ELLEN JOHNSON

SIRLEAF

COVER

COVER

By Harry Choms

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was the first female President of

Liberia and Africa's first democratically elected female

leader. She lined her path to the presidency with

determination and hard work. Her achievements have

inspired many and shown that women can lead in

Liberia and beyond.

Born Ellen Eugenia Johnson on October 29, 1938, in Monrovia,

Liberia, she has worked tirelessly to inspire women to get

involved in peacekeeping, political leadership and the

rebuilding of Liberia after its civil war. She made good success

of these efforts herself and earned the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011.

From Monrovia to

the World Stage

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

grew up in Liberia, which

shaped her future. She

attended the College of

West Africa and moved to

the United States for further

studies. She returned to

Liberia and started her

career in the Ministry of

Finance. She soon got into

confrontations with the

country's leaders due to

her strident views against

bad leadership. She was

imprisoned and eventually

went into exile, remaining

committed to progressive

change. Activities like

the coup d'état led by

Master Sergeant Samuel

Doe only made her more

determined to fight for

women's rights and

democracy in Liberia.

Her story shows the

reward of never giving

up. She became Africa's

first elected female head

of state, inspiring many,

including women, to take

on leadership roles. The

highlights of her career

journey include:

• Receiving 59 per cent

of the vote in the 2005

presidential election

runoff.

• Serving as Liberia's first

female finance minister.

• Appointed as the first

woman to run the United

Nations development

programme for Africa.

• Awarded the Nobel Prize

for Peace in 2011.

Time in Exile

For 12 years, Ellen Johnson

Sirleaf lived in exile, splitting

her time between Kenya

and the United States.

During this period, Liberia

was engulfed in a brutal

civil war. Despite being

away from home, she

made a name for herself

as a respected economist,

working with prestigious

institutions such as the

World Bank and Citibank.

From 1992 to 1997, she held

a significant position as

the Regional Bureau for

Africa director at the United

Nations Development

Programme (UNDP),

solidifying her expertise in

economic development

and governance.

With a fragile ceasefire

temporarily halting

Liberia's turmoil, Sirleaf

saw an opportunity to

return to politics. In the

1997 presidential election,

COVER

COVER

she ran as the candidate

for the Unity Party

(UP). Despite a strong

campaign, she finished

second to Charles Taylor.

However, her political

aspirations were soon

cut short when Taylor's

administration accused

her of treason, forcing her

back into exile. By 1999, the

civil war reignited, further

deepening Liberia’s crisis.

When Taylor went into

exile in 2003, Sirleaf saw

it as an opportunity to

return to her homeland.

She was appointed to

lead the Commission on

Good Governance, a key

body which prepared the

country for democratic

transition. She contested

for the presidency again

in 2005, promising to end

corruption, unify the nation,

and rebuild Liberia’s

shattered infrastructure.

The Historic Victory

Nicknamed the "Iron Lady"

for her resilience and

determination, Sirleaf

initially placed second

after the first round of

voting. However, on

November 8, 2005, she

secured a decisive victory

in the runoff election,

defeating renowned

soccer star George Weah.

This historic win made her

the first female president

of Liberia. She was officially sworn in on

January 16, 2006, beginning a new chapter

for the war-torn nation.

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Presidential Centre for Women

and Development

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Centre

for Women and Development (EJS Centre) is

a leading institution dedicated to advancing

women’s public leadership across Africa.

Founded by Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the centre

seeks to empower women to take on

leadership roles and drive social progress.

The EJS Centre fosters women’s participation

in public life through advocacy, research,

exhibitions, and programmes. Its flagship

programme, the Amujae Initiative, launched

on International Women’s Day in 2020, aims

to prepare and support women in achieving

top public leadership roles. "Amujae"

means "we are going up" in the Liberian Kru

language and reflects the programme’s

mission. The initiative focuses on four key

goals:

• Strengthening women’s capacity in

leadership roles.

• Encouraging them to pursue the highest

positions.

• Building a strong network of female

public leaders.

• Shaping public perception to increase

support for women in leadership.

Each year, accomplished women

from public service, elected office, or

policymaking are selected as Amujae

Leaders. They receive specialised training

and mentorship from established

African leaders, including former female

presidents Joyce Banda, Catherine

Samba-Panza and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

herself. Through this initiative, the EJS

Centre is shaping a future where African

women play a more significant role in

governance and development.

Indeed, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has proven,

through the years, that resilience and

consistency are the sure ways to bring

about needed political or career impact.

Her exemplary commitment to the

political transformation of her country

would remain one of her most remarkable

legacies.

SELECTED

QUOTES OF

H.E. ELLEN

JOHNSON

SIRLEAF

By Ify Davies

The

challenge

for Africa is

not the same

as it is for other

countries. We have

to create societies

that are much more

compassionate,

more fair,

more just.

Leadership is

not about being in

charge. It is about

taking care of

those in your

charge.

The

key to our

transformation

is our investment

in human capital,

particularly in

education.

The size of

your dreams

must always

exceed your

current capacity

to achieve

them.

Ethnicity

should enrich

us; it should make

us a unique people

in our diversity and

not be used to

divide us.

If your actions

create a legacy

that inspires

others to dream

more, learn more, do

more, and become

more, then you

are an excellent

leader.

The

more

difficult the

struggle, the

more glorious

the triumph.

If your

dreams do

not scare you,

they are not

big enough.

The

success of

every woman

should be an

inspiration to another.

We should raise for each

other up. Make sure

you’re very courageous:

be strong, be

extremely kind, and

above all, be

humble.

The

success

of any society

depends on the

full participation

of all its citizens,

including

women.

To girls

AFRICAN STARTUP ANGEL by

AFRICAN STARTUP ANGEL by

ABAN 2025 is

SDG 5 Compliant

Fadilah Tchoumba Olayemi Keri Rebecca Enonchong

In a landmark transition that underscores the African Business Angels Network's

(ABAN) commitment to gender equality, the organisation has appointed a

predominantly female leadership team as of January 1, 2025. This shift not only

reflects ABAN's dedication to fostering inclusive growth but also aligns seamlessly

with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), which aims to

achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

The new leadership is

spearheaded by Olayemi Keri,

co-founder of Rising Tide

Africa (RTA), an influential

network of over 100 female

angel investors operating

across Nigeria, South Africa,

and other African nations. Her

appointment as Chairperson

of the ABAN Board marks a

significant milestone in the

organisation's history. Joining

her is Rebecca Enonchong,

co-founder of ABAN, founder

of AppsTech and co-founder

of the Cameroon Angels

Network (CAN), who steps into

the role of Deputy Chair.

Continuing her impactful

tenure, Fadilah Tchoumba

remains as Chief Executive

Officer and board member,

providing continuity and

strategic vision.

The board's composition is

further enriched by the

inclusion of independent

non-executive directors -

Elizabeth Howard (South

Africa), Hannah Subayi

Kamuanga (Democratic

Republic of Congo), and

Olatokunbo Ige (Togo). These

accomplished women,

alongside their male

counterparts, bring a diverse

array of perspectives and

expertise to ABAN's

governance.

This leadership transformation

is more than a symbolic

gesture; it is a tangible

manifestation of ABAN's

alignment with SDG 5,

particularly Target 5.5, which

seeks to ensure women's full

and effective participation

and equal opportunities for

leadership at all levels of

decision-making in political,

economic, and public life. By

elevating women to its highest

echelons, ABAN exemplifies

the integration of gender

equality into organisational

leadership, setting a

precedent within Africa's

entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The significance of this

development extends beyond

ABAN. Africa has witnessed a

growing recognition of the

pivotal role women play in

economic development.

Initiatives such as the UN

Global Compact's Africa

Business Leaders Coalition

have called for greater private

sector action to advance

gender equality across the

continent.

Despite these efforts,

challenges persist. As of

recent studies, women hold

only 12.7% of board seats

across 307 listed companies in

12 African nations, highlighting

the underrepresentation of

women in corporate

leadership. Countries like

Kenya lead with 19.8% female

board representation, while

others lag behind,

underscoring the need for

continued advocacy and

structural

change.

The appointment of leaders

like Keri, Enonchong, and

Tchoumba brings a wealth of

experience and a track record

of fostering innovation and

entrepreneurship. Rising Tide

Africa, for instance, has been

instrumental in empowering

female entrepreneurs and

providing them with the

necessary resources to

succeed. Similarly, the

Cameroon Angels Network

has played a crucial role in

supporting start-ups and

driving economic growth in

the region.

ABAN's renewed focus on

gender equality is expected to

catalyse a more inclusive

investment landscape,

encouraging the participation

of women both as investors

and entrepreneurs. This

inclusivity is essential for

unlocking the full potential of

Africa's economies and

achieving sustainable

development.

In the words of UN Secretary-

General António Guterres,

"Gender equality is a question

of power. We live in a maledominated

world with a

male-dominated culture.

Power is not given; it is taken."

ABAN's latest appointments

exemplify this ethos,

demonstrating that with

intentional action, the scales

of power can indeed be

balanced.

In conclusion, ABAN's

leadership transition is a

commendable step toward

actualising SDG 5 within

Africa's business environment.

By placing women at the

helm, the organisation not

only honours its founding

principles but also sets a

transformative example for

others to follow.

As ABAN moves forward under

this dynamic leadership, it is

poised to not only advance

angel investing in Africa but

also to inspire a generation of

women leaders who will shape

the continent's future. The

organisation's commitment to

SDG 5 is not just a statement

but a lived reality, proving that

with the right leadership,

gender equality is not just an

aspiration but an achievable

goal.

Jessica O. Matthews:

Wave-making Nigerian-American Inventor

By Ify Davies

Jessicao. Matthews

Jessica O. Matthews is a trailblazing

Nigerian-American inventor,

entrepreneur, and innovator whose

work is reshaping the future of sustainable

infrastructure and renewable energy.

As the founder and CEO of Uncharted

Power, Matthews has built a company

that revolutionises how infrastructure

is developed and managed, combining

cutting-edge technology with a mission to

empower communities worldwide.

The SOCCKET and Early Innovations

Jessica O. Matthews' journey as an inventor

began at the age of 19 while she was a junior

at Harvard University. Her first groundbreaking

invention, the SOCCKET, was an energy-generating

soccer ball designed to convert kinetic energy

from play into electricity. A mere 30 minutes of

play could power an LED light for three hours,

providing children in underserved regions with

a sustainable source of light for studying after

dark. This innovative solution was inspired by her

experiences in Nigeria, where power outages were

common, and diesel generators posed significant

health risks.

The success of the SOCCKET led to the founding

of Uncharted Power (originally Uncharted Play) in

2011. Initially focused on motion-based renewable

energy products like the SOCCKET and the

PULSE (an energy-generating jump rope), the

company quickly evolved into a broader platform

addressing critical infrastructure challenges

globally.

Uncharted Power: Transforming Infrastructure

Under Matthews' leadership, Uncharted Power

has grown into an award-winning sustainable

infrastructure company that leverages

technology to create smart cities. The company’s

innovative platform integrates energy generation,

transmission, and storage solutions into everyday

infrastructure like sidewalks, streets, and water

systems. This approach reduces costs and

complexity while increasing accessibility to essential

services such as power, broadband connectivity, and

clean water.

One of Uncharted Power’s flagship projects was a

pilot programme in Poughkeepsie, New York, which

demonstrated how its smart city platform could solve

"last mile" infrastructure challenges. By using modular

pavers equipped with IoT (Internet of Things) technology,

the company showcased how sustainable infrastructure

could be deployed efficiently at scale.

A Record-Breaking Entrepreneur

Jessica O. Matthews has recorded numerous milestones

that underscore her resilience and innovation. For

instance, in 2016, she raised $7 million in Series A funding

- the largest amount ever secured by a Black female

founder at the time - propelling Uncharted Power to new

heights. Her achievements have shattered stereotypes in

the predominantly white and male-dominated venture

capital world.

Matthews’ impact extends beyond business; she has

been a vocal advocate for diversity in technology and

entrepreneurship. She emphasises that diversity is not

just a moral imperative but also a driver of innovation

Jessicao. Matthews

and business success. Her leadership style reflects her

belief in authenticity and inclusivity as core values for

building transformative companies.

Global Recognition and Accolades

Her groundbreaking work has earned her global

recognition and numerous accolades:

• Named one of Fortune’s Most Promising Women

Entrepreneurs.

• Featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 and Inc. Magazine

30 Under 30 lists.

• Honoured as Harvard University’s Scientist of the

Year.

• Invited by President Barack Obama to represent

small businesses at the signing of the America

Invents Act in 2012.

Additionally, she holds over 12 patents (granted or

pending) and continues to push the boundaries of

innovation at the intersection of renewable energy,

disruptive technology, and human behaviour.

A Legacy of Empowerment

Jessica O. Matthews’ work transcends technology;

it is about creating systems that empower people

and communities worldwide. By addressing critical

challenges like energy access, connectivity, and

sustainable development, she is not only building

smarter cities but also paving the way for a more

equitable future.

As a dual citizen of Nigeria and the United States

with degrees from Harvard University in Psychology,

Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School,

Matthews embodies the spirit of global leadership. Her

story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs

everywhere - proving that innovation can be both

impactful and inclusive.

BALANCING THE

LOVE OF WOMEN:

THE ETHICS

OF ROLES AND

COMPLEMENTARITY

By Victor Olewunne

The practical

manifestation of

love is care. Time

and empathy

are the ultimate

currency of this care. When

one thinks of women, the

first thing that comes to

mind is tender care, from the

cradle, through all stages of

life. This natural tendency spills

into the care for family, care for

community, care for business,

care for corporations and

care for nations. When this is

missing in the character and

behaviour of a woman, we

often wonder, if she is really

a woman. To a woman, the

power to give this care and

the sense of responsibility

associated with it is inborn;

it is natural. This notion is

not schooled or learned. It

comes naturally to women.

The love of women

In my view, women are

objects of intense love and

affection. They craze, they

absorb and thrive on the

intensity of affections in their

lives. Being a woman, to

many is simply the ability to

attract love and affection.

The more easily or effortlessly

done, the better. However, to

the woman, accepting this

love and affection ignites a

sense of responsibility usually

defined as care. Her emotional

balance comes from the

opportunity she has to give

care in return for the love and

affection she receives. The

giving of this ‘care’ brings her

to self-completeness. Often,

the world misses this point,

and inadvertently fails to tap

into one of the most powerful

resources defining the wellbeing

of humanity.

Ethics of role

The ethics of role examines

how societal expectations

shape individual

responsibilities, particularly

for women. Traditionally,

women have been assigned

roles as caregivers, nurturers,

and supporters, often

limiting their opportunities

in leadership, business,

and governance. This has

changed on the awareness

that the power of care is

applicable to all spheres

of life. It is further amplified

by ethical considerations

that question whether these

roles are just or restrictive,

advocating for a balance

that allows women to pursue

their aspirations without

societal bias. A fair society

should uphold agency, equity,

and respect, ensuring that

roles are chosen based on

ability and preference rather

than imposed by tradition.

Ethical role distribution should

empower women, valuing their

contributions in all spheres of

life.

Gender ethics

Gender ethics is all about

moral principles and values

related to gender roles,

identity, and relationships. It

Being a

woman, to

many is simply

the ability to

attract love

and affection

explores issues such as gender

equality, discrimination, power

dynamics, and the ethical

treatment of individuals

regardless of gender. This field

challenges biases, stereotypes,

and systemic inequalities,

advocating for fairness, respect,

and inclusivity in society. It

promotes ethical responsibility

in creating a more just and

equitable world for all genders.

It works to unleash the special

gender related qualities and

attributes that humanity needs

to move forward. Gender

ethics has become a powerful

instrument, a definition of roles

and a powerful complement

to the efforts towards a

fairer world for women. With

emerging awareness about

the potentials of the natural

attributes of women, the story

has continued to improve

across the world.

Complementarity:

Equality Without Erasure

Complementarity does not

mean inequality. It recognises

the differences between

genders while upholding the

dignity and worth of every

individual. In many cultures, the

interplay between masculine

and feminine energies is seen

as a source of strength rather

than a point of division. The

key ethical consideration here

is that differences should not

translate to dominance or

oppression.

For instance, leadership and

care-giving are often seen as

opposing traits assigned to

men and women, respectively.

However, ethical gender

perspectives suggest that

both roles can be shared,

complementing each other,

with each individual bringing

unique strengths to the

table. In workplaces, homes,

and leadership spaces, the

collaboration of different

perspectives often yields better

outcomes than a one-size-fitsall

approach.

The world should tap into the

unique strength and flavour

women bring into our lives.

MELANIA TRUMP:

The Power She Wields As

FLOTUS... Again

By Chinedu Ugo

Donald Trump won

the United States

presidential

election on

November 5,

2024, with a majority of

American voters buying

into his mantra to “Make

America Great Again”.

With his return to the

White House for a second

term as President of the

United States (POTUS) , his

wife, Melania Trump, also

returned as the First Lady of

the United States (FLOTUS).

With Trump’s powerful promises

during the campaign, such as

leading the greatest deportation

campaign against illegal

immigrants, cutting down on

government spending, and

issuing hundreds of executive

orders, many pondered the role

of Melania, who, during his first

term as president, was largely out

of the picture.

The question of Melania’s role in

the new government was raised

as Trump has been known for

involving his family members

in his businesses, but this time,

his first daughter, Ivanka Trump,

who served as a senior advisor

during his first term in office and

worked as the director of the

Office of Economic Initiatives

and Entrepreneurship, pulled

out during his campaign in 2022

and announced that she was

quitting politics to “prioritise

my young children and the

private life we are creating as

a family.” Ivanka’s husband,

Jared Kushner, also played a

pivotal role in his father-in-law’s

first term as a senior advisor

and director of the Office of

American Innovation but also

withdrew alongside his wife to

focus on their family.

President Trump’s first son, Eric

Trump, led his campaign for

a return to the White House

but would not be playing

a visible role in the current

administration as he returned

fully to his role as the Trump

Organisation's executive vice

president of Development and

Acquisitions.

Some people hold the opinion

that Melania gave the world

a glimpse of the kind of first

lady she intends to be for her

husband’s second term in

office during his inauguration

on January 20, 2025, by

wearing a hat that hid her

facial expressions during the

ceremony. It remains to be seen

how true this is.

Recall that in a 1999 interview,

Melania told reporters that she

would be “very traditional, like

Betty Ford or Jackie Kennedy,”

when asked about what people

should expect from her, as first

lady, if Trump wins another term

as president.

She made it clear during an

interview with Fox News, in

2024, that she would fully back

and support her husband

like she has always done but

would play little or no role in his

government.

Despite her traditional nature,

Melania is reputed for having

a soft heart and interest in

humanitarian initiatives. During

Trump’s first term, she earned

approval as an ambassador

of kindness and advocate of

issues affecting the lives of

children through her BE BEST

initiative. She was a voice for

America’s most vulnerable

children and families, and she

told Fox that she intends to

continue reaching out to the

needy, a gesture that is part of

her regular life whether as first

lady or not.

After Trump’s inauguration,

where she looked very

cheerful, especially during the

inaugural ball dance, Melania

accompanied her husband

to North Carolina to visit the

victims of Hurricane Helene

but has been largely out of the

picture ever since.

Her official portrait as FLOTUS

was unveiled after the

inauguration, and that picture

remains the only post on

her official Instagram page

as America’s first lady, a big

indicator that she intends to

remain largely unseen while her

husband pilots the affairs of the

nation alongside a team that

includes Elon Musk and Pete

Hegseth.

Melania Trump is only the

second US first lady not born in

the United States. She is the first

FLOTUS to become a naturalised

citizen of the United States, as

she was born in Slovenia.

leader.

Born after her mother endured three days of labour, Amb. Prof.

Menakaya’s entrance into the world was unique in many respects. Due

to the circumstances of her birth, her father dedicated her life to the

service of women. This early affirmation shaped her purpose and would

lead her to champion gender equality, education, and faith-driven

leadership.

With a background in Educational Psychology and Women’s Studies,

Prof. Menakaya has been at the forefront of advocacy for women’s

rights, education in underserved communities, and faith-based

empowerment initiatives. Her work with the United Nations on diverse

projects including Programme Coordinator, Friends of Mission of

advocacy, and transformation.

Please, tell us about your early life and the challenges

you overcame to become the inspiring leader that you

are today?

Thank you so much. I usually tell the story of my early

life starting from my birth. My late parents wished for

a girl as their first child, and fortunately, I was born a

girl. However, my mother endured three days of labour

before I was delivered! Both she and I (still in her womb)

were weak and she had to sign a critical consent to

undergo surgery to bring me into the world.

My father, upon seeing me, declared that I must work for

women. This became the foundation of my purpose. As I

grew into my teenage years, he reinforced this direction

in my life, instilling in me the importance of advocacy for

women. Since then, I have dedicated my life to gender

advocacy and standing up for women’s issues.

ACCOMPLISH Magazine: Your father’s affirmation

about overcoming your “false self” seems to have

deeply influenced you. How has this philosophy guided

your personal and professional journey?

As a teenager, my father had a tradition of giving each

of his children an affirmation based on his observation of

our personalities. He noticed that I was often moody and

unsure of myself. Both my parents kept encouraging me,

but I wasn’t focused at that time.

At the age of 15, my father gave me an affirmation:

“If I overcome my false self and be my real self, I will

actualise my full potential.” This shaped my perspective

of life. Whenever I face challenges, I return to this

affirmation. It has helped me develop an intuitive

mindset, face difficulties head-on, and always find

solutions. I now live by the belief that every problem has

a way out.

Your personal profile shows that faith has played some

role in who you have become. Tell us how faith has

helped you navigate the difficulties and uncertainties

in your life’s journey.

Faith has been the core of my existence. My mother was

the daughter of an Anglican catechist, and my father

was the son of an Anglican evangelist and teacher. I was

raised with a strong Christian foundation.

and church activities. Over time, I

realised that my calling extended

beyond traditional ministry. This

led me to pursue a second Ph.D. in

Women and Christian Education

and eventually found Ruth Sisters’

Fellowship International, a faithbased

organisation dedicated to

encouraging women to believe in

themselves and overcome life’s

struggles.

Through Ruth Sisters’ Fellowship

International, you’ve launched

numerous initiatives. What do

you see as the next step for this

organisation in addressing gender

inequality?

Our fellowship is rooted in the

Book of Ruth and is dedicated

to educating and empowering

women. One of our major focuses is

ensuring that women in faith-based

organisations are aware of global

policies on women’s rights. Many

policies stop at the government

level and do not reach religious

institutions.

We have also aligned ourselves with

the United Nations Commission on

the Status of Women, contributing

to global discussions on gender

equality. Another key initiative is

the Gender Priority Strategy, which

was launched in 2020. It prioritises

gender issues through policy

advocacy, education, and research.

We also focus on solutions for

domestic violence survivors

through our outreach programmes,

providing counselling and

mentorship to women who feel lost.

In the future, we aim to establish a

Ruth Sisters Fellowship Centre, which

will serve as a rehabilitation and

mentorship hub for women.

ACCOMPLISH Magazine: You’ve

worked extensively with the

United Nations and grassroots

organisations. What has been

the most fulfilling aspect of these

experiences?

Working with the United Nations and

various advocacy groups has been

deeply fulfilling. Whenever I engage

in programmes for women and

children, I feel an immense sense of

purpose.

• Prof. Ada Menakaya shortly after a United Nations session on GEPS

One of my proudest achievements

is running a private school in

Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria,

where we provide quality education

to children from six months to twelve

years old. Many of our students have

gone on to become professionals

worldwide, which brings me

immense joy.

Additionally, I derive great fulfillment

from our community outreach

programmes. For instance, last year,

we honoured a widow in Anambra

State, a former community singer

who made an impact despite

the challenges she faced. These

moments remind me why I do what

I do.

International Women’s Day is

being commemorated in this

edition of ACCOMPLISH Magazine.

What does this day mean to

you, and how do you promote its

message?

International Women’s Day is more

than just a day of celebration - it

is a platform to raise awareness,

educate, and advocate for gender

equality. However, I’ve noticed that

it is often glamorised, with a focus

on celebrations rather than the real

issues affecting women.

This year, my NGO is using

International Women’s Day as an

opportunity to launch a global

campaign on hunger solutions,

encouraging women to return to

agricultural self-sufficiency. Our

grandmothers never lacked food

because they cultivated their own

produce. Today, modern lifestyles

have caused us to drift away from

these sustainable practices, leading

to widespread hunger. We need to

return to these foundational values.

ACCOMPLISH Magazine: What

advice would you give to young

women aspiring to make an

impact in their communities or

globally?

My advice to young women is

simple: identify yourself, believe

in yourself, and take action. Many

women struggle with self-doubt and

allow societal expectations to limit

them.

Do not wait for the perfect moment

- start where you are. Even in your

kitchen, you can begin something

that will grow into a global

movement. Women have always

been nurturers, and we must return

to our selfless roots, thinking about

others before ourselves. We must

break the cycle of self-centredness

and replace it with a collective

mindset of empowerment.

What is your vision for the future?

My ultimate vision is for a

sustainable world where women are

empowered, children are educated,

and communities thrive. If we set

up strong platforms today, the next

generation will not be as confused

as many young people are today.

We need a world where conflicts are

resolved through understanding,

and opportunities are accessible to

all.

How do you want to be

remembered by the next

generation of leaders?

I don’t know how people will

remember me, but I hope to leave

behind a legacy of impact and

sustainability. Just as we remember

Hillary Clinton for saying “Women’s

rights are human rights” or Michelle

Obama for advocating for girls’

education, I want to be remembered

for making a tangible difference in

the lives of women and children.

If I can achieve this in my lifetime, I

will consider my mission fulfilled.

What final message would you

like to share with our readers

about leadership, advocacy, and

resilience?

Women’s issues should be a

concern for everyone, not just

women. We must all stand up for

gender equality. Whoever reads this

should think about their mothers,

sisters, daughters, and nieces and

ask themselves: What can I do to

support and empower women?

Only by standing together can we

truly achieve gender equality.

Thank you very much, Prof.

Menakaya, for this insightful and

inspiring conversation.

Thank you so much. God bless you

all!

GRAND DESIGN / ARCHITECTURE

Blackened Pine Extension in Denmark

• Dubai’s $1 Billion

Twin Towers to Feature

Exclusive Rooftop Pool

Swedish architecture studio, Förstberg

Ling, has designed a striking blackened

pine-clad extension in Denmark, offering a

secluded contrast to the panoramic sea views

of the original 1950s cabin. Located in Vedding,

Zealand, the two-storey addition consists of

intersecting volumes, some partially sunken

into the ground to blend seamlessly with the

sloping terrain.

A

pair of 591-foot skyscrapers

is set to redefine luxury living

in Dubai’s Marasi Marina,

featuring a daring rooftop infinity

pool connecting the two towers.

However, this 43-foot sky pool is

not for public access - it is part

of an exclusive ultra-penthouse

within the Regent Residences

Dubai, a $1 billion development

slated for completion in 2027.

Designed by Foster + Partners, the

35,000-square-foot penthouse

includes six bedrooms, a gym,

and a private elevator. The

development will house 63

residences, each covering at

least 6,500 square feet, with

private swimming terraces and

access to an 82-foot indoor lap

pool.

The project, a collaboration

between real estate company

Sankari and IHG Hotels & Resorts,

also includes 10 floating water villas,

as well as luxury amenities like tennis

courts, outdoor lounges, a private

cinema, and a virtual golf simulator.

The towers’ twisting form and

cascading pool terraces, inspired by

flowing water, aim to make them a

distinctive landmark in Dubai.

The Regent Residences is part of

a larger redevelopment of Marasi

Marina in Business Bay, near Burj

Khalifa.

Rather than competing with the original

cabin’s openness, the extension embraces

an introspective design, going around a

hidden courtyard accessible only through the

bathroom. This separation enhances privacy,

dividing the lower living and study areas from

the bedroom spaces. The main bedroom,

housed in a double-height volume, features

a high-level window that allows natural light

while maintaining seclusion.

Inside, pale wooden finishes contrast with

the charred exterior, with the design treating

the interior like a crafted wooden cabinet.

Strategically placed deep-reveal windows

frame the surrounding landscape, integrating

the home with its natural environment.

Förstberg Ling, a Malmö-based architecture

firm, continues to push spatial innovation,

as seen in its previous redbrick housing and

workshop transformations.

REALTOR’S AVENUE

REALTOR’S AVENUE

TIPS FOR SUCCESS IN

REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT

By John Abiodun Olaitan

It is a globally acclaimed fact

that investing in real estate is

better and safer than investing

in the stock market. We would be

exploring 6 tips on how you can be

a successful real estate investor.

Real estate is not just great, it is

a tested and trusted investment

option for people who want to

achieve financial success. Becoming

a successful real estate investor is

a great step towards achieving the

financial freedom that we all desire.

Real estate investment offers better cash flow

prospects than the stock market. However,

you need to be mindful to avoid mistakes

that have made so many forays into the

lucrative property investment market turn into

nightmares and bankruptcy.

Good cash inflows from the rental aspect of

real estate means the investment is profitable.

Conversely, poor cash inflows mean that

you won’t have returns on investment as

desired. Therefore, finding a good investment

opportunity is key to becoming successful in

real estate investing.

Going for properties which require minimal

expenditure to get them ready for uptake is

better because you would spend less to gain

much more as the assets' value remains on an

upward swing.

3 Tips for Success-minded Real Estate

Investors

1. Smart Choice of Market and

Timing of Investment:

For successful real estate investment, it’s

more important to be really conversant of

trends in your local market than what’s going

on nationwide. You have to be intentional to

ensure that you don’t buy at a price that's

above the going rate. Pricing and other issues

could be affected by factors at work in your

specific real estate market. The rule of thumb

is to avoid "very hot markets". Some real estate

investors may brag about "hot" appreciation

of their properties, but you could lose money if

you buy above the going rate.

The real estate market moves in cycles due to

investors' push for profits, and every real estate

market is at a slightly different phase of the

cycle. You need to find markets that are in the

phase of expansion – where sales and prices

are rising, affordability is good, construction is

low and capital investment is rising.

To become successful in real estate

investment, your focus should also be on the

location of the property within the market. You

need to invest in locations which have high

population density, are developing, and have

all basic amenities.

All great neighbourhoods have these in

common:

· Family-friendly

· Low crime rate

· Great schools

· Access to parks and leisure destinations

· Access to medical care

· Access to public transportation

· Access to shopping malls and restaurants

· Good pedestrian walkway.

They translate into high demand for housing in

any location.

2. Buy Low:

Real estate investing could be compared

to investing in a dividend-paying stock. The

return on investment is dependent on how

cheap you bought the facility. A little house in

an unsafe neighbourhood can be bought for

little money, but you won’t get much returns

from it in the long-run. So, instead of focusing

on buying a house, focus on buying a piece of

land or an off-plan. This way, you buy cheap,

save money and gain more as the years go

by.

3. Dive Into the Hidden Market:

The ideal case is buying property from a

distressed seller because you can get it way

below the fair market value. Look for houses of

distressed sellers who haven’t put them on the

market yet. Distressed sale is common place

these days for various reasons. You could

even make it become your core area of real

estate investment, and get vendors or agents

to source for you.

SERIES

DIIYI

CONFUSED

WITH MULTIPLE

TALENTS? JUST

START OUT

AND STAND

OUT!

Have you met multitalented

people who are

confused about what

to do with their multiple

talents? The confusion is

about which talent they should take

as priority and which should be

'side hustles'. It soon looks like the

blessing of being multi-talented is

a curse!

Sometimes, being multi-talented

presents a dilemma. On one hand,

it allows individuals to possess

diverse skills and interests. On the

other hand, it can lead to confusion

and an inability to commit to a

single path of progress as the

challenge of focussing creates a

burden. Being multi-talented could

lead to a sense of uncertainty as

per which path to follow or a feeling

of being pressured to specialise

in one area. Consequently, the

internal conflict can lead to stress

and a lack of fulfillment.

Living in a world that celebrates

specialisation is one reason

multi-talented individuals feel

inadequate if they do not conform

to that expectation. The pressure

to choose a single

career path can be

overwhelming.

Many multitalented

individuals

may

encounter

skepticism

from peers

and mentors

who suggest

they must

focus on

one area. This

pressure could

lead to confusion

and a sense of failure if

they cannot meet these societal

standards.

If you are one of such people,

don't let the issue bother you

anymore. Recognising one's

confusion is a first step in the right

direction. Begin to embrace and

celebrate your diverse talents and

skills rather than view them as a

burden. Developing a personal

strategy for managing these

talents can alleviate confusion.

Briefly stated, here are the

advantages of multiple talents:

Versatility

Creative oroblem solving

Capacity to attract more

opportunities.

An enthralling sense of ersonal

fulfillment.

The disadvantages are:

Lack of focus.

Pressure to perform

Imposter syndrome.

Difficulty in making career

choices.

With these in mind, let's look

at some ways to address the

challenge:

• Time management plays

a significant role. Creating

a schedule that allocates

time for various interests

can provide structure while

allowing individuals to

explore multiple

avenues.

Developing

a personal

strategy for

managing these

talents can

alleviate

confusion

• Setting

priorities is

also crucial.

Multitalented

individuals

should

identify

which

of their

interests

resonate the

most with them

at a given time.

This does not mean

abandoning other talents

but rather understanding

the importance of prioritising

specific talents over others

based on personal and

professional goals.

• Seeking education on how best

to develop and deploy each

talent can help multi-talented

individuals refine their talents

and skills. Today's online

realities have made it easier

than ever to expand knowledge

across diverse fields. Courses

in various subjects enable

individuals to deepen their

understanding while exploring

new interests.

• Balancing passion and

profession is a fundamental

concern for multi-talented

individuals. Some may choose

to pursue their passions as

hobbies while maintaining a

primary career focus. Others

might aim to transform their

diverse talents into a cohesive

career. Understanding the

significance of this balance is

essential.

THE INCUBATOR SERIES

In conclusion, by recognising and

embracing their diverse interests

and skills, multi-talented individuals

can overcome the sense of

inadequacy that burdens them.

Indeed, people with multiple talents

do have a lot more to contribute

to society. Societal expectations

may create pressure, but through

proper management strategies,

interdisciplinary collaboration, and

continued education, individuals

can thrive in their diverse pursuits.

The future holds promise for those

willing to embrace their multitalented

nature, paving the way for

innovation and creativity in various

fields.

In the end, it's the intentional

attitude of not seeing multiple

talents as a problem that begins

the process of properly harnessing

them. Begin with FOCUSSING on the

talent that aligns more with your

future aspiration, EXPLORE it - using

contemporary knowledge - and

EMPLOY proceeds from it to grow

other talents.

Just start out with one talent,

make the best of it until you stand

out. Then, others would follow.

AI

TODAY & TOMORROW

Breaking Barriers:

Women in AI and the Future

of Technology

By Wisdom Thursday

Ire Aderinokun

Joy Buolamwini

engaging from an early age.

Mentorship and Role Models:

Successful women in AI must

be visible, offering guidance

and motivation to young girls

considering tech careers.

Gender-Inclusive Workplaces:

Companies must actively

work to create inclusive

environments where women

in AI can thrive without

discrimination.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising

industries, shaping economies, and

transforming daily life. Yet, despite its

potential to create a more inclusive world,

the AI field remains male-dominated. As we celebrate

International Women’s Day this March, it is crucial

to spotlight the contributions of women in AI, the

challenges they face, and the steps needed to bridge

the gender gap in this critical sector.

Women in AI: A Growing but

Underrepresented Force

Globally, women constitute

only about 26% of the AI

workforce, according to a

World Economic Forum report.

In Nigeria, the number is even

lower, with women making up

less than 20% of STEM-related

careers. Despite these figures,

women continue to make

remarkable strides in AI and

technology. Names like Joy

Buolamwini, founder of the

Algorithmic Justice League,

and Timnit Gebru, a leading AI

ethics researcher, are shaping

discussions on bias, fairness,

and inclusivity in AI systems.

In Nigeria, women like

Ire Aderinokun, a Google

Developer Expert, and

Nkemdilim Begho, a leading

voice in digital transformation,

are paving the way for future

generations. However, for every

visible success story, countless

talented women struggle

against systemic barriers in

education, employment, and

leadership opportunities within

AI and tech.

Challenges Women Face in

the AI Sector

Several factors contribute to

the underrepresentation of

women in AI:

1. Limited Access to Education:

Girls are often discouraged

Nkemdilim Begho

from pursuing STEM

subjects due to societal

expectations and a lack of

mentorship.

2.Gender Bias in Hiring:

Many AI-driven recruitment

systems themselves

display biases, often

disadvantaging women

applicants.

3. Workplace Culture and

Retention: The tech industry

has long been criticised for

being male-dominated,

with many women leaving

due to discrimination or

lack of support.

4. Lack of Representation

Timnit Gebru

Fadilah Tchoumba

in AI Development: When

women are absent from AI

development, the resulting

algorithms risk reinforcing

societal biases against

women.

Making AI More Inclusive

To build an AI-driven future

that truly serves men and

women, diversity is essential.

Nigeria must take active steps

to encourage more women

to enter and excel in AI. Here’s

how:

Early STEM Education: Schools

and policy makers must

prioritise STEM education for

girls, making it accessible and

Bias-Free AI Development: More

women in AI research means

a better chance of mitigating

biases that negatively impact

women in AI-powered

decisions.

Conclusion

The future of AI depends on

diversity and inclusion. If AI is

to drive human progress, then

women must play an equal role

in shaping it. This International

Women’s Day, let us not just

celebrate the achievements of

women in AI but also commit

to breaking down barriers that

hold them back. Only then can

we ensure that AI today and

tomorrow is truly built for all.

Woman Uncovered

Art historians at the Courtauld Institute of

Art in London have uncovered a long-lost

portrait hidden beneath Pablo Picasso’s

1901 painting 'Portrait of Mateu Fernández de

Soto'. Using infrared and X-ray imaging, they

revealed the face of an unidentified woman,

concealed for over a century.

Picasso, then just 19 years old, painted over the

woman’s portrait as he developed his signature

constraints and his creative process of

transforming one image into another.

Though the woman’s identity remains

unknown, she bears a resemblance to other

female figures Picasso painted in Paris during

that time. Some of her features, like her eye,

ear, and hairstyle, subtly show through the

final painting. The discovery offers fresh insight

LMI Group International. The

oil-on-canvas piece, titled

'Elimar', measuring 18 by 16.5

inches, depicts an elderly

fisherman with a white

Experts from LMI Group International

analysed the painting’s canvas

to be a reinterpretation of a painting by

Danish artist, Michael Ancher.

The authentication process, which took

four years, even included a DNA test on

a hair embedded in the canvas. Though

the test confirmed it was from a human

Despite this evidence, the Van Gogh

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE

DEATH BEGINS IN

THE COLON. HOW?

By Joel Logbo

Our colon is one of the most important

organs in our body. More than 80%

of diseases have been linked to

unhealthy colon. As the saying goes:

"You are what you eat." This means

that the type of food we eat and how the food is

processed and assimilated into our body matters

a lot.

Usually, the colon and rectum extract water, salt, vitamins and

nutrients from indigestible food, process food that was not

digested in the small intestine and eliminate solid waste from

the body. The colon reabsorbs fluids and processes waste

products for elimination.

Partly broken down or digested food moves from the small

intestine into the colon. Digestion continues in the colon as

bacteria breaks down some food materials into smaller

pieces.

Water and some nutrients are absorbed by the inner lining of

the colon (also called epithelium). The liquid waste remaining

in the colon turns into semi-solid stool (also called faeces).

The inner lining of the colon also produces mucus for faeces

to easily move through the colon and rectum. As faeces

moves to the end of the colon, it becomes solid. Then, it leaves

the colon and moves into the rectum. When the rectum is full,

a signal is sent to the brain to push the faeces out of the body

through the anus.

Colon Malfunction

When the colon does not function properly, it begins to absorb

toxins instead of eliminating them, thereby causing the

following problems:

Headaches

Gas, bloating and constipation

Diverticulitis

Weight gain

Alzheimer’s disease

Colon cancer

Liver cancer

Rectum cancer

Appendicitis.

- Low energy and fatigue, and

other chronic illnesses.

Causes of Malfunction

The colon plays host to a zoo of

bacteria; over a hundred micro

organisms live in the colon. A proper

balance of healthy bacteria must be

maintained inside the colon to avoid

digestive ailments.

Unhealthy dietary habits often harm

this balance and cause various

stomach problems. These problems

can be caused by undigested food,

as most food that we eat today are

loaded with additives, preservatives

and other chemicals, leading to a

build up of toxins in the colon, which

affect the body. The air we breathe,

the water we drink and the hundreds

of chemicals we come into contact

with each day all take their toll on the

colon and ultimately, on our overall

health.

Symptoms of Unhealthy Colon

An obstructed colon can show one or

more of the following symptoms:

Allergies

Bad breath

Body odour

Colitis

Constipation

Dark circles below eyes

Depression

Diarrhoea

Fatigue

Frequent infections (cold/flu)

Gas and bloating

Indigestion

Irritability

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Parasites, especially tapeworms

PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome)

Skin problems (acne, eczema,

etc.)

Regular bowel movement helps

to deal with colon issues to some

degree. The most common pattern

is one bowel movement a day but

this pattern is seen in less than fifty

per cent of people. Most people are

irregular and sometimes, do not have

any bowel movements in a day or the

same number of bowel movements

every day. Usually, frequency of bowel

movement reduces with age.

Not moving the bowels daily can

make faeces to accumulate

anywhere inside the colon and the

rectum in the form of a thin film as

well as stick to the walls of the colon.

When this happens, it hampers the

colon's efficiency and causes a lot

of discomfort, irritability, lethargy,

bloating, flatulence and many

diseases. Cleansing the colon solves

these problems and promotes total

well being.

How to Keep Your Colon Healthy

Herbal medicine recommended

by a qualified practitioner is

helpful.

Drink bitter leave juice as your

situation permits.

Drink scent leaves juice as your

situation permits.

Take whole fruits; the fibre

contents in them help the colon.

Take warm water early mornings.

Take fermented foods like yogurt,

fermented corn water, kefir etc.

It's important to add that colon

irrigation or enema is good for

cleansing the colon and to keep your

colon healthy.

Unleashing Nigeria's Youth:

Pioneering a New Era of

Export Excellence

By Segun Adeyanju

Nigeria stands at a

pivotal juncture,

where the

dynamism of its

youth converges

with unprecedented

global opportunities. With

over 60% of its population

under the age of 25, the

nation is poised to harness

this youthful energy

to redefine its export

landscape, moving beyond

traditional commodities

to a diversified portfolio

driven by innovation and

entrepreneurship.

The Youth Export

Programme: A Catalyst

for Change

In a strategic move to

empower young Nigerians,

the Nigerian Export

Promotion Council (NEPC)

launched the Youth for

Export Programme

(YEP) in August 2023.

This initiative aims

to equip the youth

with essential skills

and knowledge to

actively participate

in the non-oil export

sector. By addressing

skill gaps, quality

standards, and procedural

intricacies, YEP aspires to

cultivate a generation of

export champions who

can navigate and thrive in

global markets.

Raising Trailblazers

The success stories

of young Nigerian

entrepreneurs illuminate

the country's wide

landmass. Affiong

Williams, for instance,

founded a company that

produces high-quality,

well-branded, and

packaged fruit products,

contributing significantly

to Nigeria's economic

growth by creating jobs

and opportunities. Similarly,

Ada Osakwe, the visionary

behind Nuli Juice Company

and Agrolay Ventures, has

made significant strides in

the agribusiness

sector. Recognised as

Forbes Woman Africa's

Businesswoman of the Year

in 2021, Osakwe emphasises

the importance of

transformative leadership

and innovation in driving

economic development.

The

success

stories of

young Nigerian

entrepreneurs

illuminate the

country's wide

landmass.

Institutional Support

and Capacity Building

Beyond individual

endeavors, institutions

are playing a crucial

role in fostering youth

participation in exports.

The NEPC's Youth Export

Development Programme

(YEXDEP) focuses on

building competencies

in production, quality

management, valuechain

development, and

packaging.

By breaking barriers and

providing targeted training,

YEXDEP aims to integrate

more young Nigerians into

the export ecosystem.

A Vision for the Future

The concerted efforts of

government agencies,

private enterprises, and

international organizations

underscore a shared vision:

to transform Nigeria's

youthful energy into a

formidable force in the

global market. By investing

in education, mentorship,

and infrastructure, Nigeria is

not only addressing current

economic challenges but

also laying the foundation

for a sustainable and

prosperous future.

As these initiatives gain

momentum, the narrative

of Nigeria's export sector

is being rewritten. The

nation's youth are not

just participants but are

emerging as leaders and

innovators, driving a new

era of export excellence

that holds promise for

generations to come.
