As the days grow longer and the sun’s

warmth returns, I eagerly anticipate

casting a team of flies beneath the

overhanging oak of my favourite local

pool – ready for the thrilling tussle

with the first wild brown trout of

the season.

At Snowbee, we welcome spring and

come with it, as a well-earned reward

for months of dedicated work, refining

moving from glass fibre to cutting-edge

carbon composites. Utilising experience

with all that is available, we are proud to

essential Classic offerings to the top-tier

The key differences lie in fittings and

materials. Premium models feature

anodised aluminium reel seats with

unique burl wood or carbon fibre inserts,

while high-modulus carbon fibres

provide fast actions, quicker tip recovery

and lighter overall weight. In contrast,

lower modulus fibres offer a forgiving

action, suited for beginners or budgetconscious

anglers which are fitted with

more affordable furnishings.

Our Prestige G-XS fly rods incorporate

graphene resin technology, a

revolutionary material that offers

unparalleled strength, flexibility and

lightness. Modern carbon fibres are

delicate with little tensile strength, while

cured epoxy resin is brittle. Encapsulating

fibres in epoxy creates a composite of

remarkable durability and flexibility.

The holy grail of fly rod design has always

been to achieve that light, effortless

feel that belies the hidden power of

the blank. With many refinements and

development, we have managed to achieve

just that with the SPECTRE® PRO range

whilst maintaining a price point which is

achievable for most anglers who desire

outstanding performance.

We use the very latest multi-modulus

carbon fibre technology, and have precisely

designed the stiffness and flex in each

section, and the highly important recovery

speed of the tip. Using predominantly

40 ton carbon fibre with a small amount

of 36 ton, we have achieved the precise,

crisp, middle-to-tip action which is rapidly

growing in popularity.

The blanks are left un-ground with a silvergrey

natural finish. This adds strength

and durability to the blank and helps

eliminate rod flash. The contrasting black

whippings with subtle silver trim provide a

contemporary finish.

Minimising weight, we have used

lightweight machined aluminium reel

seats with carbon fibre inserts. Each rod

has a small rubber-cork fighting butt.

The long-standing Classic Fly Rod Kits

The tried and tested IM6 (24 Ton) carbon

rod is a lovely hazel-coloured blank

with quality black-coloured aluminium

reel seat, lined stripper rings, high lift

matched Floating Weight Forward

Classic fly line, loaded onto a Classic

Fly reel with backing and a tapered

A range of four fly lines with specialist

profiles offering exceptional distances for

moderate to highly proficient casters. This

is due to an extra long head and subsequent

‘load point’, yet remaining manageable

without the need for maximum effort.

These lines are 120ft in length – 30ft longer

than a standard fly line – with a slim running

line to accommodate longer range while

maintaining contact and control of flies.

A range of single-colour, weight forward

profile fly lines constructed with shorter

heads designed for learning the basics

of casting. They are a great option for

budget-conscious anglers in need of a

reliable, essential fly line. Available in

three key densities.

SPECTRE DISTANCE

The multiple award-winning XS and

XS-Plus range use exactly the same materials

in production, the difference being single

colour (XS) and twin-colour (XS-Plus). Each

trout line has the same standard length of

90ft, unless stated otherwise, and have formed

a loyal following since their first development

The thermoplastic polymer coating has a precision taper and a silky-smooth finish to ensure

FLY ROD BREAKAGES AND ROD CARE

Contrary to popular belief, modern carbon

fibre rods rarely break as a result of poor

manufacture during the natural flexing

forces of fly casting and playing fish. Rods

are generally ‘broken’ for one reason or

another, such as over-flexing when casting

or playing a fish, or hitting the rod with a

fly which can cause microscopic fractures,

leading to breakages at the time or later

down the line.

To extend the life of your products, we

offer the following advice...

Never:

Always

Lift fish out of the water with the rod

– always use a net

Use a fly line more than one line

weight above the rod’s rating

Jerk the rod or use the tip to pull flies

free from rocks or trees

Support the weight of the rod by the

tip section

Pull line through the rod tip, while

holding the rod handle

Walk with the rod tip facing forward

Lean a rod against an open car door

or boot – it is sure to fall or someone

close the door on it!

Place a rod on the ground – either you

or someone else is sure to stand on it

● When netting a fish, exercise

extreme care not to over-compress

the tip of the rod

●

When assembling the rod take extra

care when threading fly line or leader

through the rings.

Transport and store the rod in a safe

place and in its rod tube.

Try to avoid rod impact damage:

especially when using goldheads

or any weighted flies that can be

travelling in excess of 80mph. Hitting

the rod blank will easily cause stress

fractures and eventual breakages.

Check that the sections are properly

aligned and securely pressed together

at all times. Applying a little candle

wax to new joints can help prevent

them coming apart during casting.

For double-handed ‘Spey’ rods, the

circular casting motion can cause

rod joints to work loose. We strongly

recommend taping the joints prior to

use, to help prevent this.

WADER CARE

All of our waders are made from synthetic

materials, which are not susceptible to

cracking or perishing. The sun will degrade

synthetic materials, so it is recommended

that waders are stored out of direct

sunlight. Creasing, whilst unsightly, does

not adversely affect the performance of

waders and the best way of avoiding this

is to hang the waders upside down.

After use in saltwater or brackish water,

waders should always be washed down

with fresh water. Felt soles should always

be hosed off with fresh water after every

fishing trip to remove mud deposits.

This prevents soles hardening, wearing

prematurely and becoming less effective.

If you find it necessary to wash waders or

breathable clothing then a gentle nonbiological

detergent should be used. The

garment may be re-proofed by using our

DWR reproofing product – Stormsure

Stormproof DWR, available on our website.

AGE RESTRICTED PRODUCTS -
