Thank you again for your support for the Palace as

we look forward to another busy Spring and

Summer. We couldn’t do it without you!

We also couldn’t offer such an amazing programme

without the commitment and incredible

enthusiasm of local groups including Paignton

Pantomime Productions, Bijou Theatre Productions

and Torbay Festivals. Lots of other cultural groups,

such as Doorstep Arts, also use the Palace for one-off

events, get-togethers, workshops and rehearsals;

there’s seldom a day without music, song, dance,

comedy or drama filling the Palace.

Add to that the touring shows that love coming to

the Palace and you will see just how important this

theatre is to our community. There’s so much going

Swing from Paris

An evening of stylish jazz and vintage swing.

Often described as ‘the finest gypsy jazz...’, Swing from Paris are

a UK quartet of violin, guitars and double bass. Inspired by the

great swing bands of the 1930s and ‘40s, they present their

own versions of music by Gershwin, Piazzolla, John Lewis,

Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Hot Club of

France. They’ve been seen on the BBC’s Hairy Bikers, and

have appeared at major jazz festivals including Cheltenham,

Brecon and the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois sur Seine.

The Helliwells, the Parkers and the Soppitts were married on

that the parson who conducted the triple wedding ceremony

was not authorised to do so. Pandemonium breaks out.

Police - The Rozzers

The Rozzers have entertained audiences as the top tribute to

Sting and The Police for over a decade.

Just Macbeth! is by far the stupidest version of

Shakespeare’s great big gory tragedy you might ever see.

Journey to medieval Scotland for this hilarious introduction into

Shakespeare for audiences young and old. Our story follows

school-aged Andy, Danny and Lisa as they prepare their

homework presentation: an extract featuring the three witches.

On reciting their lines and concocting their potion, they are

transported back to medieval Scotland! This hilarious and

irreverent take on Shakespeare’s classic tragedy will have the

Bijou Theatre Productions

Stand by for another wonderful thriller from Bijou.

The title of the autumn play has yet to be finalised but Directors

Nicola Opie and Chris Mitchell promise to bring you another

‘edge of your seat’ thriller. Bijou presents four plays a year at

the Palace plus an Agatha Christie summer run. They started as

a private members theatre club in 1955, based in a stable at the

back of the then Gerston Hotel in Paignton town centre. A move

to the Palace Theatre followed in 1986. They continue to garner

excellent reviews.

A Ten Week Creative Writing Course:

Wednesday 16 Apr to Wednesday 18 June - 10:15 to 12:15

Tutor Chris Woodhouse will guide you through these

creative writing workshops enabling you to have fun

sharing work, ideas and motivation. It is suitable for

beginners as well as those with some experience of

writing who would welcome guidance, encouragement

and feedback. Whether you are a short story writer, a poet,

a teller of anecdotes, want to write your memoirs or novels

or just want to explore different forms of creative writing,

you will be made very welcome.

Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance.

£120 per person to attend all ten classes.

Anne George Dance and Exercise workshops

Fitness instructor Anne George runs a range of dance and

exercise workshops in Stage Left, taking a fun and

interactive approach to improving strength, flexibility,

balance and easy dance moves!

Easy Exercise classes run on most Wednesday’s.

Ann will also be hosting a range of dance and exercise

classes through the Autumn and winter season so please

Doorstep Arts

Doorstep is a non-profit arts education organisation and it

is the creative education company in residence at the

Palace Theatre. The young people who attend their

groups range in age from 0-25. They write their own

stories and songs, and they explore original ideas through
