Double Honour
1 Timothy 5:17-18
"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double
honour, especially they who labour in the word and
doctrine. For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle
the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is
worthy of his reward."
NEW YEAR MESSAGE
As we step into 2025, the Lord is leading us into a
season of Double Honour. This declaration is a
prophetic announcement of God's intention to elevate
His people to positions of greater influence,
recognition, and reward in every area of life. It is a call
to honor the faithful laborers in His vineyard and to
position ourselves to receive the honor that comes
from Him.
Understanding Double Honour
The concept of double honour in this scripture refers
to two key dimensions:
1. Recognition and Esteem: This applies to those
who lead and serve in God's house. Faithful
service in the ministry of the Word and
doctrine deserves both respect and
acknowledgment. In 2025, God is calling His
people to cultivate a culture of honor where
leaders, pastors, and elders are celebrated for
their diligence and faithfulness.
2. Material Reward: The scripture also speaks to
the importance of ensuring that those who
labor in ministry are adequately provided for,
symbolizing God's abundant provision and the
need to sow generously into His work.
God's Promise of Honour
In this year, Double Honour is not limited to spiritual
leaders. It is an extension of God's promise to His
people:
· For Faithful Service: Just as the ox is not
muzzled while working, those who have
labored in the Lord's vineyard will reap a
bountiful harvest.
· For Obedience and Stewardship: Those who
have walked in integrity, served selflessly, and
sown sacrificially will be lifted into greater
dimensions of influence and prosperity.

unlocks divine blessings (2 Corinthians 9:6).

As we embrace the year 2025, we decree:
· This is a year of recognition, restoration, and
reward.
· The works of our hands will be blessed, and

As believers, it's crucial to align our lives with God's plans to
experience His best for us. The Bible provides guidance on how to
discern and walk in alignment with His will. Let's explore this

Trust in the Lord:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and
lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.” This verse emphasizes the
importance of trusting God completely and surrendering our plans
to Him.

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) states, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.” This verse reminds us to seek
God's guidance in all our endeavors and commit our plans to Him,
knowing that He will direct our steps.
Delight in the Lord:
Psalm 37:4 (NIV) encourages us, “Take delight in the Lord, and he
will give you the desires of your heart.” When we prioritize our
relationship with God and align our desires with His, He promises to
fulfill them according to His perfect plans.
Follow God's Timing:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV) reminds us, “There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Understanding
and accepting God's timing is essential in aligning ourselves with
His plans, even when it may not align with our own timeline.
Walk in Obedience:
Isaiah 30:21 (NIV) assures us, “Whether you turn to the right or to
the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the
way; walk in it.'” Obedience to God's voice and His Word is key to
staying aligned with His plans and purposes for our lives.

PRISON FELLOWSHIP
One meeting with an attorney
helped change Terry's outlook
od used an attorney to
Gspeak life into me when I
was staring down a long
prison sentence.
I was hoping the attorney would
represent me, but he said he
couldn't. He was only there to
share a message he said was
from God.
“It's not over,” he told me. He
added there was light at the
end of the tunnel for me, and I
needed to dive into the Bible
and rebuild my life while in
prison.
That encounter helped shape the
trajectory of the rest of my life.
ROUGH UPBRINGING
I have called Michigan home for
almost all of my life. Growing up
in Detroit was difficult. I was the
youngest of three boys living
with Mom. Dad wasn't present,
and the consequences of an
absentee father began to rear
their ugly head early on.
In 1970s Detroit, you either
joined a gang or fought with
one. I did the latter for a while
before I got tired of fighting and
decided to join. Meanwhile,
Mom smoked marijuana, and I
first tried it at nine. I then held a
gun for the first time at 11
before being introduced to
alcohol.
With our father not in the
picture, my oldest brother
assumed the father figure and
disciplinarian roles. But his life
was sadly ended when he was
murdered. I was just 15, and
our family lost its balance. My
middle brother then went to
prison soon after that. Those
events led me to dive further

into a life of crime as I lacked a
clear sense of direction.
I smoked crack cocaine for the
first time in my early 20s and
was facing multiple felony
charges including robbery soon
after that. I was then sentenced
to 25 to 50 years.
COME TO JESUS MOMENT
I really wanted a particular
attorney to represent me. So
you can imagine my surprise
when he said he couldn't do
that. Instead, he delivered a
message that God had
something better in mind for my
life.
I thought back to my childhood. I
knew Jesus was real as Mom
would often say He's coming
back. Even with that knowledge
and a big leather Bible in our
home, we didn't go to church
often. When we did, we
bounced around between

Catholic and Baptist churches.
The flood of memories sent me
on a search for answers. I knew
God was after me, but I didn't
know what He wanted. So I
asked Him. He made it clear He
could use me for His purposes.
HOPE AND TRAGEDY
With a new sense of
excitement, I began to pursue
my own personal walk with
Jesus while in prison. I went to
church, and God provided a
mentor.
My mentor told me, “I'm going to
help you,” and he meant it.
He walked with me and helped
me understand the Word of God
to the point where I began
holding Bible studies.
Mom's struggle with drugs
followed her for years. She
spent about two years in federal
prison, which occurred at the
same time I was behind bars.
She got out, and I received a
letter from her one Saturday.
Just three days later, I knew
something was wrong when I
got an unannounced visit.
I was told she died of a drug
overdose. The news crushed
me. I hadn't opened her letter
and wouldn't be able to do so for
a week. When I mustered up the
courage to finally do so, she
said she was tired and ready to
be in the Lord's presence.
I prayed about it and felt God
say He had her. That gave me a
sense of peace.
Another thing that brought me
peace was knowing my kids were
taken care of during Christmas
®
thanks to Prison Fellowship
Angel Tree. My son and daughter
would get gifts, and I would hear
about their excitement. I too was
excited when they asked for
volunteers on the inside to help
sign people up. It was my goal to
ensure as many kids as possible
received a gift.

ADVOCATING FOR OTHERS
I served 22 years in prison before
being released more than a
decade ago. I began working as
a substance abuse counselor as
I saw the toll addiction had taken
on my family. Sadly, that disease
would lead to yet another
tragedy.
My son went to prison just as I
was getting out. He served two
years before being released. I'm
thankful for the year that followed
because it would be my last with
him. He struggled with alcohol
and died in a moped accident
while under the influence.
Even though I've experienced
much heartache, I have found my
purpose in advocating for others.
My first experience came when I
had the chance to join Prison
Fellowship for a lobby day at the
Michigan Capitol to discuss
pretrial and bail. I was working in
the transitional housing and
recovery spaces with an
organization at the time, and I
jumped at the opportunity. I came
away with the impression that
lawmakers were willing to listen
to those with real-life experience.
Being a Justice Ambassador
allows me to help those coming
behind me. I'm especially
passionate about helping men of
color navigate the justice system.
We know that racial disparities
exist, and I want to be a voice
for the voiceless.

CYRUS CENTRE FOR HUMAN RIGHT EDUCATION
Cyrus the Great, also known as Cyrus II of Persia, is famous for founding the Achaemenid Empire. He conquered the
Median Empire, the Lydian Empire and the Neo-Babylonian Empire to make the Achaemenid Empire the largest the
world had seen ll then. Cyrus II was not only a great conqueror but also an excep onal ruler who respected the various
religions prac ced through the lands he conquered; and who brought about various reforms to ensure the prosperity
of his kingdom
October 12 (Julian calendar; October 7 by the Gregorian calendar) 539 BC, Achaemanid army without any conflict
entered the city of Babylon. Cyrus the Great himself, on October 29, entered the city, assuming the tles of "king of
Babylon, king of Sumer and Akkad, king of the four corners of the world". Cyrus The Great, on this cylinder, describes
how he conquers the old city of Babylon and how his mighty army in peace marched into the city; his claim that he
entered the city peacefully supports the same statement in the Chronicle of Nabonidus. The last king of Babylon,
Nabonidus, is considered a tyrant with odd religious ideas, which causes Marduk, patron deity of the city of Babylon to
intervene. Cyrus considers himself chosen by a supreme god, is confirmed by Second Isaiah, the chapters 40-55 of the
Biblical book of Isaiah. The Cyrus Cylinder then was placed under the walls of "Esagila" as a founda on deposit,
following a Mesopotamian tradi on.

In 1971, the Cyrus Cylinder was described as the world's first charter of human rights, and it was translated into all six
official U.N. languages. A replica of the cylinder is kept at the United Na ons Headquarters in New York City in the
second floor hallway, between the Security Council and the Economic and Social Council chambers.
Passages in the text of cylinder have been interpreted as expressing Cyrus' respect for humanity, and as promo ng a
form of religious tolerance and freedom; and as result of his generous and humane policies, Cyrus gained the
overwhelming support of his subjects.
The Cyrus Cylinder is not the only reason that the Cyrus legacy is admired.
"In short, the figure of Cyrus has survived throughout history as
more than a great man who founded an empire. He became the
epitome of the great qualities expected of a ruler in antiquity,
and he assumed heroic features as a conqueror who was tolerant
and magnanimous as well as brave and daring. His personality
as seen by the Greeks influenced them and Alexander the Great,
and, as the tradition was transmitted by the Romans, may be
considered to influence our thinking even now

Pastor W. F. Kumuyi
Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi is the founder and
General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible
Church, one of the largest and most influential
Pentecostal denominations in Nigeria and beyond.
Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State,
Nigeria, Pastor Kumuyi was raised in an Anglican
home but later experienced a personal transformation
through faith in Jesus Christ.A distinguished scholar,
Kumuyi graduated with a degree in Mathematics from
the University of Ibadan and briefly served as a
lecturer. In 1973, he started a Bible study group with a
few university students, which grew exponentially into
the Deeper Life Ministry. Known for his emphasis on
holiness, disciplined living, and in-depth Bible
teaching, Kumuyi is a role model for many
Christians.Through his ministry, he has significantly
impacted Christian education and evangelism,
authoring numerous books and leading global
crusades. His humility, dedication to God, and passion
for souls have left an indelible mark on the Church
worldwide.

COMPASSIONATE FATHER
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the

COMPASSIONATE
Compassionate means
showing empathy, kindness,
and concern for someone who
is suffering or in need. It
involves being able to
understand and share the
feelings of another person, and
wanting to help alleviate their
pain or difculties.
Some attributes for
compassionate include:
Empathetic, Sympathetic, Kind,
Caring, Gentle, Humane,
Understanding
Nurturing
In the Bible, compassion is a
fundamental attribute of
God's character, and He calls
us to emulate it (Matthew 5:7,
Luke 6:36). Compassion is a
vital virtue in building strong
relationships and creating a
supportive community.
Remember, "Compassion is
the radicalism of our time." —
Henri Nouwen
FATHER
The term "father" has multiple
meanings depending on the
context:
1. Biological father: A male
parent who conceives a child
through reproduction.
2. Spiritual father: A mentor,
guide, or gure who nurtures
spiritual growth and
development (1 Corinthians
4:15, Philippians 2:22).
3. Authority gure: A person
in a position of authority,
leadership, or guidance
(Romans 4:11, Hebrews 7:4-
5).
4. Symbolic father: A
representation of wisdom,
protection, or provision
(Psalm 68:5, Matthew 6:9).
5. Heavenly father: Our
creator.
6. Founding fathers: A
founder of a religious
organisation. Father of faith.
7: Father of sin: Devil
8. Father of fool (proverbs
17:21)
9. Father of faith
In the Bible, God is often
referred to as our heavenly
Father, emphasizing His
loving care, provision, and
guidance (Matthew 6:9,
Romans 8:15).
Remember, the concept of
fatherhood encompasses
various aspects, including
love, guidance, protection,
and provision.
2) WHO IS A COMPASSIONATE
FATHER?
Secularly:
A compassionate father is a
parent who shows empathy,
kindness, and understanding
towards their children. They
are supportive, nurturing, and
caring, providing a safe and
loving environment for their
children to grow and thrive. A
compassionate father is patient,
gentle, and forgiving, offering
guidance and wisdom to help
their children navigate life's
challenges.
Scripturally (based on the
Bible):
A compassionate father is a
reection of God's fatherly love
and care. The Bible describes
God as a compassionate and
merciful Father, who is slow to
anger and rich in love (Psalm
103:8). A compassionate father,
like God, is:
- Loving and kind (1 John 3:1)
- Patient and gentle (Psalm
103:13-14)
- Forgiving and merciful (Luke
15:11-32)
- Providing and protective
(Matthew 7:11)
- Guiding and wise (Proverbs
3:12)
In the Bible, God is often
referred to as the Father of
compassion (2 Corinthians
1:3), and Jesus taught us to
pray to God as our Father in
heaven (Matthew 6:9). A
compassionate father,
therefore, is one who
reects God's love and care
for their children, and
points them to the ultimate
Father of compassion, God
Himself.

WHAT DOES A COMPASSIONATE
FATHER EXPECT FROM HIS CHILDREN
A compassionate father expects from
his children:
1. Respect and obedience (Ephesians
6:1-3)
2. Honesty and open communication
3. Responsibility and accountability
4. Kindness and compassion towards
others
5. Effort and perseverance in their
endeavors
6. Gratitude and appreciation for his
love and support
7. Forgiveness and understanding when
he makes mistakes
Remember, a compassionate father is
not perfect, but he strives to model
God's love and care for his children, and
encourages them to grow into
compassionate and responsible
individuals.
GOD AS A COMPASSIONATE FATHER
God as a compassionate father is a loving
and caring parent who:
1. Provides unconditional love and
acceptance (Romans 8:1)
2. Shows mercy and forgiveness (Psalm
103:8-14)
3. Is patient and understanding (Psalm
103:13-14)
4. Offers comfort and consolation (2
Corinthians 1:3-4)
5. Guides and directs with wisdom
(Proverbs 3:12)
6. Protects and shields from harm (Psalm
91:4)
7. Listens and hears our cries (Psalm
40:1)
8. Is slow to anger and abounding in love
(Psalm 103:8)
9. Desires a personal relationship with
each child (John 17:3)
10. Sacricially loves and gives His best
for our benet (John 3:16)
God's compassion as a father is innite,
unwavering, and unrelenting. He is the
ultimate example of a loving and
compassionate parent, and His fatherly
love is the standard by which all earthly
fathers are measured.
THE QUALITY OF A COMPASSIONATE
FATHER
Here are the qualities of a compassionate
father:
1. Empathy: He understands and shares
the feelings of his children.
2. Patience: He is slow to anger and
gentle in his approach.
3. Kindness: He shows love, care, and
concern for his children's well-being.
4. Understanding: He listens and tries to see
things from his children's perspective.
5. Forgiveness: He is merciful and quick to
forgive mistakes and failures.
6. Supportive: He encourages and supports
his children's dreams and endeavors.
7. Present: He is actively involved and
engaged in his children's lives.
8. Humility: He acknowledges his own
mistakes and apologizes when needed.
9. Guidance: He offers wise counsel and
direction for his children's growth.
10. Unconditional love: He loves his
children without condition or expectation.
11. Selessness: He puts his children's needs
before his own.
12. Role modeling: He sets a good example
for his children to follow.
A compassionate father embodies these
qualities, creating a nurturing environment
for his children to thrive and develop into
condent, capable, and compassionate
individuals.
