SIGNBOX INVEST WITH SWISSQPRINT NYALA
Signbox has installed swissQprint’s best selling
Nyala 4 flatbed printer as the business continues
to push boundaries with its innovative, iconic
and aspirational signage solutions.
Founded in 1985, Signbox built its reputation
on transformative signage solutions that help to
build brands. Through a combination of design
and technology it has focused on delivering the
innovative signage that complements customers’
architecture and spaces.
Needing to continue to deliver both novel
solutions and meet increased production volumes,
the business looked to invest in a new printer and
therefore set some demanding criteria. Quality,
performance, flexibility and sustainability were all
key for Signbox. Having seen the 3.2×2m Nyala in
action at Sign UK, and after a full demonstration at
swissQprint’s UK headquarters in Bracknell, it was
chosen as the ideal machine to meet all its demands.
DELIVERING EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS
The Signbox team opted to use all of the Nyala’s
nine colour channels, selecting six colours, white,
spot orange and varnish. The addition of orange
provides an extended gamut in red and orange
tones, while the varnish offers high quality visual
and haptic effects.
Alongside the Nyala’s impressive output of up to
206 square metres per hour, it also boasts the latest
print head technology, printing at up to 1350 dpi.
For added versatility and productivity, alongside
the exceptional print quality, Signbox specified
the roll to roll and dual roll options. These allow
the business to benefit from the extra capability of
printing narrow rolls of material overnight.
“When we saw the Nyala at Sign UK for the first
time, it was clear that it would immediately benefit
our business,” said Signbox’s Managing Director,
Mark Bartlett. “Its production output, flexibility
and quality are clearly second to none. However,
it is the little things like perfecting a true orange
and the ability to print braille that are done so well
by swissQprint and will help us provide new and
inspirational signage solutions.”
SUSTAINABLE BRAND GUARDIANS
Signbox is known as a guardian of its customers’
brands and the addition of the Nyala will ensure
this reputation continues. In particular, the ability
to print exceptional quality directly onto glass will
be hugely beneficial, enabling it to provide the
branding required by many of today’s interiors and
office spaces.
Alongside its productivity and print innovation,
the Nyala’s cutting edge engineering aligns perfectly
BROWNS PRINT INSTAL WITH HORIZON
STITCHLINER MARK III
Manchester brochure and booklet specialist Browns Print has increased
production capacity, flexibility and reduced outsourcing with an IFS
supplied Horizon StitchLiner Mark III.
Investment in the new saddle stitching system is part of £2.4m “future
proofing” strategy that included a new Heidelberg XL-75 ten colour press — the
first in the world to be fitted with a fourth generation Cutstar sheeter — that
was installed in March. Browns Print also runs a Heidelberg XL106 and Versafire
and Linoprint digital presses.
“We had an older StitchLiner model and we had been running that for a few
years,” states Managing Director Danny Baldwin. “It was a great machine. A
fantastic piece of kit. We were running our Muller Martini stitching line at full
capacity constantly and the StitchLiner was taking more and more work. We
needed more capacity. We talked to the IFS team and they suggested the
StitchLiner Mark III with two up kit would be faster and more flexible. We didn’t
look at any other options on the market because we know and trust Horizon
systems. They are very reliable.
“We also liked the fact it could produce landscape work. For those jobs,
especially short run work, it was time consuming to finish them in-house. We
were also sending some of that work out or we would price ourselves out of the
job. Now we can say yes to everything knowing that that it can be completed
quickly and cost effectively in house.”
The next generation StitchLiner runs at 6,000 booklets per hour. Its fully
automated set-up delivers improved production efficiency and functionality,
A4 landscape capability and professional quality.
Danny Baldwin, Browns Print Managing Director,
with Signbox’s commitment to delivering improved
sustainability. The energy efficiency as evidenced by
swissQprint receiving ISO 20690:2018 certification,
keeps energy requirements low. While reliable
precision printing saves inks, time and materials,
reducing inefficiencies. Also, the UV-curable inks are
Greenguard Gold certified helping Signbox meet
commitments to reducing the environmental impact
of its signage for customers.
A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
Pete Smallwood, Sales Manager at swissQprint UK,
said: “Our collaboration with Signbox has been
fantastic and we are delighted to have been able to
meet their very high expectations. The combination
of the Nyala’s innovative print capabilities
alongside Signbox’s focus on constantly pushing
boundaries will continue to inspire customers and
help bring spaces to life.”
www.swissqprint.co.uk
Return on investment was not a key deciding factor but Danny says: “With an
increase in output of circa 25% the machine will pay for itself in no time. It is
quick to set up and easy to run. Originally, we only had one operator trained on
it so our bindery manager was also trained and he picked it up very quickly.”
He concludes: “It just doesn’t skip a beat. It is running full speed every hour of
every day. In fact, we are looking at putting another shift on.”

N3 DISPLAY GRAPHICS BRIGHTENS
CANCER RESEARCH HUB
Bristol based signage and exhibition company
N3 Display Graphics used Drytac Polar Grip white
polymeric self-adhesive vinyl and Drytac ReTac
Textures embossed film in a canvas finish to
produce a series of eye catching interior graphics
for Cancer Research UK’s (CRUK) new distribution
facility in Warrington.
The world’s largest independent cancer research
organisation, CRUK raises much needed funds to
help scientists, doctors and nurses beat cancer. The
charity has been working to generate funding for
than more 40 years, leading the fight against over
200 types of cancer.
CRUK is one of the best known charitable brands
in the UK, with its iconic logo and colours a regular
feature in major fund raising events such as the
London Marathon and the Great North Run. The
brand is also reflected across its various facilities
around the UK, including the new Warrington
Regional Distribution Centre.
Ahead of opening the facility earlier this year, CRUK
approached N3 Display Graphics to decorate the
interior of the centre. The project required graphics for
various interior surfaces, as well as exterior signage.
For the graphics part of the project, N3 Display
Graphics chose to work with Drytac vinyls and films.
The company is a long term user of Drytac materials
and has worked with its products on a wide range of
applications.
N3 Display Graphics used Drytac ReTac Textures
Canvas embossed film for graphics in the reception
area of the facility. The digitally printed wallpaper
featured CRUK’s iconic blue colouring and was
designed to offer visitors a warm welcome to the
centre.
Graphics were also applied to the main warehouse
brick wall, transforming the previously blank space
into a canvas of inspiration. N3 Display Graphics
selected Drytac Polar Grip to create four full height
graphics that featured striking photography and
merged seamlessly with the brickwork, creating a
powerful visual impact.
Other parts of the project included a timeline of
CRUK’s history, with this vinyl installation running
down one of the corridors inside the centre.
NEWS
“Our work with CRUK for the Warrington Regional
Distribution Centre was a journey of purpose and
dedication,” N3 Display Graphics Sales Director Dave
Dixon said. “By integrating CRUK’s core values, vision
and history throughout the space, we have created
an environment that radiates inspiration and hope.
“From the moment staff and visitors approach
the facility and step into the reception, to their
journey through the corridors and the mesmerising
warehouse wall, they are greeted by the spirit of
CRUK’s relentless pursuit of a cancer free future.
“We believe that the power of sharing values,
vision and history lies not only in honouring the past
but also in lighting the way forward. As we reflect on
this project, we stand proud of our contribution to
strengthening CRUK’s identity and mission, leaving a
lasting legacy in the fight against cancer.”

THE PRINTROOM GROUP INVESTS
IN CANON TECHNOLOGY
The Printroom Group has strategically invested in Canon technology to
continue to reinforce its position within the market. With its recent purchase
of both the Canon imagePRESS V1350 and imagePRESS V700 it complements its
existing print fleet, helping it achieve an automated production line and driving
further business growth through bespoke services.
Founded in 1977, The Printroom Group has continued to solidify its reputation
for offering the full spectrum of printing services. The family run business has
transformed over the years ensuring it stays ahead through offering its customers
a full range of services including the use of its in-house graphic design studio plus
fulfilment and finishing.
Having worked with Canon since the 1990s with the Canon CLC1000 and more
recently with two imagePRESS C10000VPs, its latest decision to invest in Canon’s
state of the art digital print equipment was not a difficult one. Emerging as the
clear supplier of choice due to the outstanding speed, superior output quality
and impressive eco-friendly certifications of products and solutions, Canon won
the deal.
Keith Cooper, Managing Director at The Printroom Group comments: “We’re
already seeing major business benefits from these new devices, including
reduced costs and more efficient productivity. The efficient turnaround we’re
now seeing has freed up the devices to take on more, thus ensuring we’re
maximising the immense potential of these devices. We’ve seen jobs that might
have previously taken two and a half hours now turnaround in half an hour.
Those sums alone prove we’ve made the right investment.
“Our long standing partnership with Canon is testament to the relationship
we have with the team we work with. We visited the Birmingham Customer
Experience Centre on a number of occasions during the process to experience
the devices for ourselves. The team allowed us to run print jobs and really push
the devices to their limits while we were there, giving us peace of mind that we
knew what we were going to be getting once it arrived onsite. We truly believe
this investment demonstrates our commitment to both growth and innovation in
the print industry, and most importantly ensures we’re providing our customers
with the best solutions possible.”
With the imagePRESS V1350 and imagePRESS V700, The Printroom Group
benefits from high quality digital colour press technology that can deliver
high levels of automation. The deal also includes the integration of cutting
edge technology from Duplo International and Plockmatic Group. In fact, the
imagePRESS V1350 series boosts productivity and efficiency levels, with mass
printing, at speeds of 135ppm. As a result, The Printroom Group has seen a 30%
increase in print speed, with staff reporting they can complete tasks five times
quicker than before.
Duncan Smith, Country Director, Production at Canon UK & Ireland adds:
“We’re delighted to continue working with The Printroom Group in their drive
to grow and evolve their business. As a valued customer in the production print
space, we understand their business needs and are thrilled to see they’re getting
the most out of our latest technology with all important faster turnaround times
for customers, whilst delivering the highest quality prints that have set the
benchmark for the industry.”

SIGN ARCHITECTS BUILDS AN
INCREASED CUSTOMER BASE
Sign Architects has introduced a large format
laser cutter from Trotec to extend production
capabilities and increase business potential. The
London based signage consultancy and material
wholesaler are a one stop shop for signage and
branding. Offering a consultative approach to
signage, graphics and more, the company was
founded in 2015 and has grown exponentially to
work with market leading clients including Malabar
Gold & Diamonds, Paris St Germain, Elie Saab, Bang
& Olufsen and Creams Desserts.
GROWING BUSINESS DEMAND
Serving clients across the UK, Sign Architects
offers services including letter cutting, illuminated
signage, interior signs, vehicle livery and graphic
printing. Client satisfaction is at the heart of their
company ethos, so the team are committed to
pushing the boundaries of innovative design as
well as investing in the best equipment to ensure a
high quality and commercially viable service for any
sized project.
Director Yusuf Rab and CEO Imran Haidar noticed
an increase in the demand for laser cut work.
Lacking an in-house solution and keen to meet the
growing number of sales enquiries of this nature,
Yusuf decided to expand the company’s production
BLUESTAR PRINT FINISHERS CHOOSES
HORIZON BQ-500 ICE BINDER
The Ilford print finisher replaced
a Horizon BQ-470 with the next
generation perfect binder. With
an eye on the future Lee Harvey,
Bluestar Print Finishers Managing
Director, decided on the solution
for a number of reasons including
its ability to work with a Horizon
HT-300 iCE Trimmer.
“It was a no brainer,” he said.
“We don’t have room for the trimmer at the
moment but it was important for us to have that
in the planning. We also chose it to manage our
workload more efficiently. With the PUR binder we
had to wait to batch all the jobs together but with
the Horizon BQ-500 iCE Binder we can turn it off
after a job and then come back to it later on. The
biggest thing for us is time savings. Previously if we
wanted to complete a job by 9am we would have
had to come in at 4am to turn on the old binder
and clean up the PUR glue before we could run the
job. Now we have a timer on the BQ-500 iCE Binder
so it can warm up before we get in and be ready to
go. It is a game changer.”
He continues: “It has gone beyond our
expectations. We can start the glue where we
want to as we have more control over the sheet.
This reduces glue wastage and saves money. We
also don’t need to do a wash up which saves time.
For some jobs we are saving as much as a day on
production. For example, we have a 15,000 run job
that we complete in batches of 5,000. We can set
up the binder much faster and save time on the
cutting, collating and binding.”
The Horizon BQ-500 replaces a Horizon BQ-470
and Lee says: “When I first looked at perfect
binders I did my due diligence. There was not
another system out there that could touch the
Horizon for what we needed it to do. We were
mainly interested in small run litho and we wanted
to stay in that market. The Horizon BQ-470 was
unmatched at the time and we know the Horizon
BQ-500 iCE Binder is too. We also know and trust
Horizon systems and IFS. They have never let us
down and we have always been very well looked
after.”
The Horizon BQ-500 iCE Binder is the next
generation of Horizon’s highly successful series
of four clamp binders. It features cloud based
iCE LiNK workflow that provides access to an
intuitive easy to use dashboard. It reports real
time production analysis for improved efficiency
and profitability, remote update capabilities
and scheduled maintenance resulting in less
downtime. The information is accessible via
smartphone, tablet or desktop PC and the
software is designed for simple integration with
MIS systems using open APIs. It enables up to the
minute reportability and fully automated workflow
using JDF/JMF data.
Concludes Lee: “We are always rammed with
work but the BQ-500 iCE Binder has given us more
control. There is more flow. Our production is more
streamlined and running a lot smoother.”

facility to incorporate a laser cutting system, opting
for a 200-watt SP3000 CO2 laser cutter from Trotec.
Increased enquiries and a competitive edge
The SP3000 has been a turning point for
Sign Architects, with the expanded production
capabilities resulting in a 12% increase in new
customers. Being the only service provider in
their area to offer both CNC and laser work, Sign
Architects fulfil on average 15 laser orders per week,
and having the SP3000 means that they also pick up
work from other signage manufacturers who don’t
have laser technology.
With two distinct cutting systems, the team use each
to their strength, the laser for acrylic work because it
creates a polished edge while cutting, and the CNC for
aluminium composite. The SP3000’s 200 watt laser
source enables Sign Architects to effortlessly and
accurately cut acrylic in thicknesses from 2mm up to
20 mm. The reduction in production steps has saved
Sign Architects a significant amount of time which
they pass on to customers through reduced lead
times. Having the laser cutter allows Sign Architects
to reduce the standard 7-10 day turnaround to just a
couple of days if needed.
Sign Architects has noted that the laser offers near
unlimited possibilities for the company, something
which they are keen to explore and continue to
develop.

INKTEC LAUNCHES UV DTF PRINTER
Adding to their more compact range of
affordable printers, InkTec has launched a
UV DTF Printer. Designed to broaden printing
opportunities for printers operating in the
printwear and promotion arena, the printer was
first revealed at the recent Print Show at the NEC.
Using ultraviolet curing technology, this printing
approach enables designs to be easily transferred
directly onto hard smooth objects, even onto
irregular shapes. A combination of UV-curable
ink and a special film creates designs that can be
added to a variety of substrates including plastics,
metal, board and more. With no need for weeding
the image, users can simply press firmly and peel
off the film. Ideal for adding designs to a myriad of
promotional items.
The printer’s compact size, with the option for
either a 60cm or 30cm print width makes it an
accessible piece of kit which can easily be used
integrated into existing operations. In addition,
InkTec offer specialist UV DTF Film and inks in CMYK,
plus white and varnish. These use their experience of
over 30 years developing and manufacturing inks to
deliver vivid colours, creating striking graphics that
can be easily applied.
Joey Kim, Managing Director of InkTec, said,
“Building on the success of the compact DTF
Printer and solutions launched earlier this year, it
was a natural progression to also introduce a UV
DTF Printer. It is an exciting time at InkTec, and
we have been having conversations with a variety
of people who can see the potential of what this
printer can bring, some of whom were looking for a
way to easily apply graphics without the challenge
of having multiple application stages. As the UV
technology applies the varnish at the same time
during the printing process, the result is a glossy,
strong finish which quickly adheres to the medium it
is being applied to.”
Priced from £10,600 for the 30cm printer, the
printers are supplied with a manufacturer’s
warranty, full maintenance instructions and full
training on the day of installation by InkTec’s
dedicated engineers.

WORLD’S FIRST B2 PERFECTING SHEETFED
AQUEOUS-BASED INKJET PRESS
Ricoh has announced the debut of the RICOH Pro Z75 digital press, the
first B2 perfecting (auto-duplexing) sheetfed inkjet platform using
aqueous ink, accelerating the shift from offset to digital with higher print
quality, faster turnaround times and fewer demands on staff following
successful in-market testing. The press will be officially available for public
orders in EMEA from November 2023, with orders for immediate placement
expected based on strong interest across international markets.
In June 2022, Heeter Printing — an American full service secure marketing
provider for highly demanding industries like insurance and retail — teamed up
with Ricoh to serve as the official beta site for the award winning B2 sheetfed
inkjet press platform.
Kirk Schlecker, President, Heeter Printing, comments: “The RICOH Pro Z75
is like a multitool for our operation. It combines the image quality, efficiency,
print size, substrate flexibility and economics that allow us to say ‘yes’ to more
jobs, and deliver a better experience for our clients. With the support Ricoh
provides and their commitment to stand behind their products, the RICOH Pro
Z75 makes a compelling case for any print service provider looking to achieve
what they once could have only imagined.”
The RICOH Pro Z75 delivers the advantages of a sheetfed platform with
the low running costs and high productivity of inkjet. It offers print speeds
of up to 4,500 sheets per hour (SPH) in straight printing or 2,250 SPH in
duplex/perfecting printing. Stainless steel piezo print heads bring 1,200 dpi
native resolution at all speeds with four colour (CMYK) pigment based inks,
while the proprietary drying system ensures high quality results ready for
immediate finishing. The RICOH Pro Z75 also expands substrate flexibility,
handling uncoated, inkjet treated and offset coated media up to 400gsm with a
maximum sheet size of 585mm x 750mm.
“As shorter runs and increasing demand for data driven communications
push Print Service Providers to adapt their production strategies, we are
helping them lever the latest hardware, software and data to become
indispensable to their clients with the RICOH Pro Z75 as a powerful example
of that commitment in action,” said Eef de Ridder, Vice President, Graphic
Communications, Ricoh Europe. “The result is a new level of performance that
enables easier, faster and more profitable production of applications like direct
mail, postcards, marketing materials and other commercial print work.”
Beyond the high print speeds and automatic duplexing capabilities, the press
incorporates significant automation solutions and an intuitive control panel to
reduce the need for operator intervention and improve shift efficiency. A heavy
duty, offset like build quality and advanced, durable printheads are designed to
maximise press uptime and availability. Attention to detail from the air assisted
sheet feeding that minimises feed and paper transport issues, to a configurable
high capacity stacker that delivers accurate, flush paper stacking, streamlines
the entire job process.
Designed for print businesses managing high volumes of jobs that require
reliable uptime and significant throughput capacity, the new production inkjet
platform is backed by Ricoh’s Professional Services programme. Clients will
have access to Ricoh’s best in class proprietary workflow automation solutions,
such as RICOH TotalFlow BatchBuilder and RICOH Supervisor, plus the EDGE
business development consultancy service and full service marketing solutions
such as MarcomCentral, to maximise return on investment and business value.

NEW PRODUCTS
NEW MIMAKI UV PRINTERS
Hybrid Services has announced the launch of two new UV printers that
extend Mimaki’s popular 100 and 330 series product ranges — the UJV100-
160Plus and UCJV330-160. The new models deliver enhanced production
benefits, providing customers with increased opportunities to extend their
application range, whilst also utilising Mimaki’s proven UV technology to
support a more sustainable future for the industry.
As UV inkjet printing trailblazers, Mimaki launched the world’s first UV
printer with white ink in 2004 and has continued to expand and develop UV
technologies that enable versatile, high quality sign and graphics printing. The
introduction of its entry level 100 series and its more advanced 330 series printer
range took Mimaki’s established
platforms and applied these
robust technologies to the needs
of different market sectors and
customers at different stages
of their digital print business
journey.
“The addition of these two
new models presents an exciting
opportunity for us, and there has
been much anticipation around
the arrival of the UCJV330-160,”
states Hybrid’s Sales Director,
Andrew Gregory. “The drive to
lower running costs, increase
productivity and offer Mimaki’s
typically high levels of creativity
will ensure a strong uptake.”
Arjen Evertse, General Manager
Sales, Mimaki Europe, explained,
“The pressing need to be more
sustainable, as well as the recent
pressures associated with rising
energy prices has accelerated
the industry wide need to adopt
UV technology. UV printing
requires considerably less energy
throughout the printing process
than other technologies, not least
due to the fact that LED UV inks cure instantly. This both improves the printer’s
environmental impact but also saves on production costs and delivery times.”
“At Mimaki, we are committed to supporting the move to UV to ensure more
sustainable, efficient print production, future proofing the businesses of our
valued customers and of course, ensuring we are working towards improving
sustainability for all our sakes. The UJV100-160Plus and UCJV330-160 are the
latest results of our efforts to expand the UV printing options available to print
service providers, whilst also delivering the unparalleled benefits that are
synonymous with Mimaki technologies.”
The two printers are compatible with Mimaki’s new cloud based printer status
monitoring tool for all Mimaki products — PICT. Available for customers to
download, PICT improves the efficiency of Mimaki customers’ print operations
and production management by giving them the power to monitor the
operational status and performance of their printers from a PC or mobile device.
The printer operation and ink usage results are captured for each Mimaki printer
in production or within designated groups, providing customers with improved
ink inventory management and maintenance and production planning.
NEW MIMAKI UCJV330-160 1.6M UV PRINTER/CUTTER
The new UCJV330-160 integrated printer/cutter offers versatile LED UV
roll-to-roll inkjet printing with significantly improved productivity and
image quality.
With a production speed of 28m2/h in four colour configuration or 18m2/h
with white and/or clear inks, the UCJV330-160 enables users to offer impressive
10
turnaround times and produce more jobs with increased efficiency. In addition,
high print speeds can be achieved with high output quality, thanks to Mimaki’s
newly developed ink firing technologythat improves colour reproduction in high
density areas even in high speed output mode.
The UCJV330-160 has been developed with application and media flexibility
in mind to support Mimaki customers with the move to more environmentally
friendly substrates. The printer is equipped with white and clear inks as
standard, and users can print high quality images on traditional media used
for outdoor sign graphics applications, as well as translucent, transparent, and
coloured materials, including PET, polyurethane and other resin films, textiles
and uncoated paper.
This media flexibility combined
with the option to offer 2.5D
print, watermarks or five layer
printing further supports
businesses with their goals to
provide customers with a more
diverse and high value product
range that will increase their
competitive edge. Being an
integrated printer/cutter, the
UCJV330-160 is also equipped
with advanced features for
contour cutting to deliver
stickers, decals and labels.
NEW MIMAKI UJV100-
160PLUS 1.6M UV
PRINTER
The affordable UJV100-160Plus
model features new capabilities
and has been designed to
consume an exceptionally low
amount of power. At just 0.5kW,
the UJV100-160Plus consumes
less than half the power of ecosolvent
and latex/resin printers
on the market(2), helping print
businesses to reduce running
costs and their CO2 emissions.
New functionalities of the UJV100-160Plus have been incorporated to
expand its range of applications as well as improve operational and cost
efficiencies. A new ink saving function reduces ink consumption by up to 50%
while maintaining the colour balance of the printed design, with ink reduction
levels set by the operator using RasterLink7 software, removing the need for
specialised knowledge or equipment for colour adjustment.
A new function included in the printer pulls back the printed substrate to
enable up to three layer printing, extending the application possibilities and
allowing colour white colour or white colour clear printing, giving more flexibility
to offer a wide range of applications, for increased creative effect or to add value
to applications such as window graphics.
The UJV100-160Plus also links seamlessly with Mimaki’s CG-AR cutting plotters,
enabling users to output cut data directly from RasterLink7 to the plotter,
improving workflow efficiencies and linking the printing and cutting even if the
output PC does not have design software.
Both models will be available through Hybrid’s network of authorised Mimaki
Partners, with demo machines arriving at Hybrid very soon. “We look forward
to inviting prospective customers to view these exciting new products in the
very near future,” concludes Gregory. “Offering the latest in high quality output,
they also deliver on Mimaki sustainable goals and will undoubtedly be a popular
addition to our product line-up.”

NEW PRODUCTS
CANON LAUNCH NEW IMAGEPROGRAF TM
Canon has introduced its new imagePROGRAF TM
series of A0+ and A1+ printers for producers of technical
and promotional large format printing applications in
sectors from architecture, engineering, construction and
manufacturing to retail, hospitality and education.
The portfolio incorporates five models — the TM-355, TM-350
and TM-340 for A0+ prints and the TM-255 and TM-240 for A1+
output — all featuring a newly formulated, vibrant magenta ink.
The range is designed to meet diverse printing needs, from CAD
construction and design drawings to retail and restaurant posters
and school classroom displays. The refined body design and small
footprint ensures they fit within virtually any office or retail space,
even when combined with the optional large format scanner.
The imagePROGRAF TM series features a newly developed L-COA
PRO II image processing engine, which enables quick start-up.
The TM-355/350 offers top printing speeds of up to 3.2 pages per
minute (PPM), about 28% faster than previous models, [1] ensuring
greater productivity for time-critical prints.
GREATER VIBRANCY EVEN ON UNCOATED PAPER
The ink enhancements for the imagePROGRAF TM series deliver
greater vibrancy even on uncoated paper. The newly designed
image processing table and optimised magenta ink ensure
excellent red colour development for vivid reproduction and
sharper contrasts. This equates to more clarity when highlighting
corrections and revisions in CAD drawings or displaying critical
technical annotations.
NEW FASTBIND PUREVA
SMART PERFECT BINDER
By utilising all colour pigment ink which is also water resistant, the printers can produce eye
catching posters and point of sale items that attract attention and do not fade easily over a
long period of time. Customers printing posters can produce borderless prints using the full roll
width, which removes the time-consuming task of trimming the margins after printing.
IMPROVED DESIGN AND USER INTERFACE
The new flat top design makes it easier to switch paper rolls, and the printers automatically
detect and display paper type [2] and estimate how much paper is remaining. With colour
calibration included as standard, these labour saving features contribute to greater
operational efficiency.
The large touch screen panel shows the paper width and type, as well as the remaining roll
paper and ink levels at a glance. In addition, it can be tilted to adjust the angle for easy viewing
according to the user’s point of view and position.
The design also helps to reduce operating noise across the series up to about 39 decibels
(dB) in certain models, which is approximately 1/3 lower [3] than their predecessors, making it
suitable for any working environment.
Duncan Smith, Country Director, Production at Canon UK & Ireland says: “Setting a new
bar for compact multi-use large format printers, the new imagePROGRAF TM series creates
incredibly vibrant prints, with a small footprint and less noise. Whatever your company size,
however restricted your space, you can now conveniently produce a wide variety of print
applications which would traditionally have to be outsourced, from CAD drawings to posters
and retail POS materials, improving productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.”
PROGRESS ON SUSTAINABILITY
Canon is committed to its efforts to reduce waste and environmental impact throughout all
of its operations. The imagePROGRAF TM series has achieved a ‘Gold’ product rating under
the U.S. EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Registry, the highest
level of registration in the field of imaging equipment products. [4] Expanded polystyrene
foam has also been eliminated from the products’ packing materials in favour of full
cardboard packaging.
INTEGRATED SOFTWARE MAKES IT EASY TO CREATE WELL DESIGNED
POSTERS AND FLYERS
The TM series printers are supplied with Direct Print Plus software which means multiple files
in different formats can be ordered to print in a batch with a simple drag and drop operation,
helping users to print all types of drawing efficiently. For promotional applications,
customers can use Canon’s PosterArtist web application to create original poster and flyer
designs by choosing from a wide range of free templates to suit their needs.
[1] A1 landscape uncoated paper drawing, fastest print setting. The time from the start of printing until the paper is cut. Against “imagePROGRAF TM-305/300”

EPEAT is an environmental assessment system established by GEC (the Green Electronics Council), American NPO, for the purpose of developing and promoting
the market for environmentally friendly products. It recognises factors such as product longevity, energy conservation and packaging.

TAKING IT TO THE MAX
October was a big month for Adobe. For the last twenty years, it’s that time in the calendar when it previews
all the new stuff and teases things to come. Martin Christie is on the hunt for more tools.
It’s just that this year, the hype seems
to have been notched up considerably.
Make no mistake, Adobe is under
pressure. The established industry giant
has the new kids on the block trying to kick
the door down. And the cause of all this, of
course, is Artificial Intelligence. For most
of the last two decades, big A has been able
to stride forward confident that it held all
the important cards in digital imaging,
illustration and design. But recent
technological advances have shaken that
dominance, so Adobe MAX (nothing to do
with fizzy drinks) had an extra sense of
urgency amid all the glossy presentations
this year.
In this cyber world, it is at least reassuring
that Adobe feels the need to address a live
audience in a theatre rather than at arm’s
length online, but by its very nature, the
massed guests are rather partisan — no
chance of heckling here among the faithful.
As a result, the gathering takes on an
atmosphere somewhere between a religious
revival and an American election rally — at
least without the silly hats and moronic
placards. Although they might have been
forgiven for introducing a little Trumpstyle,
let’s ‘Make Adobe Great Again’ in the
headlines.
You can view any or all of the day’s
content online if you can bear to put up
with the adrenaline-fuelled presentations
on stage and theatrical reactions from
the seats. Alternatively, you can find the
parts that interest you in numerous more
palatable slices if you care to wade through
the obvious promotional fog that search
engines now create.
The dilemma for Adobe is that despite
its global reach, it is vulnerable to the socalled
lone wolf — some geeky teenager in
a back bedroom who will stumble upon an
algorithm that will stand the world on its
head. Traditionally, it relied on spotting
these developers and snapping them up so
their talents were used for the benefit of the
whole company and the many programs
that spawned from the original digital
editing creation. Now, there are plenty
of speculators who will throw funds at
something that looks promising, even if
they don’t understand it, in the hope that it
might just be the Holy Grail.
Adobe’s approach, but its nature, is more
measured, fuelling AI with its own resource
14
of licenced stock images rather than as
some others, and most of our customers
do, plundering the internet. This policy
is described as ethical, but it is equally
pragmatic as no one is likely to sue Aunty
Mary for that nice picture of a kitten she
found for a birthday card, but Adobe is too
rich a target to ignore.
One of the interesting snippets I picked
up on was that while up until now, the
generative fill library has been free to use,
from November, there will be a credits
system on image usage similar to that with
Adobe Stock.
Of course, not much of this will be relevant
to us in the print business, but 2024 does
have some very useful updates for those of
us using Photoshop as a daily tool. In order
to find them, you may have to fast forward
through numerous ‘what’s new’ tutorials
to get to the important bits. In fact, you can
almost judge the value of the video by the
priority given to some of the new features.
DIGGING FOR GOLD
One which seems to take the lead in many
and can often occupy half the lecture is called
lens blur. Why it grabs so much attention is
a puzzle, as there have been several ways of
softening unwanted detail in the background
for years. But it had also been greeted with
a certain amount of scorn and derision as
proper photographers have been doing this
in camera for over a century. The fact that a
computer can now do it when it has access
to detailed information about the lens and
capture settings is hardly groundbreaking.
If your tutorial majors with this gimmick to
coin a phrase, move along, please; there is
nothing to see here.
Like many overblown features of AI,
it is simply part of a trend characterised
by something else I picked up on from
one of the Adobe MAX sermons — the
democratisation of creativity. Now, what
does that actually mean — that anyone can
be a Van Gogh or a Beethoven? We already
live in a media world where any non-entity
can be a celebrity or, worse, an ‘influencer’.
But to be truly creative, I think you do need
some element of talent, or am I just old and
cynical? I will let you decide, but I’m sure
you already suffer from customers who
think they are artistic geniuses. Looks like
more are coming, empowered by AI.
But it’s not all bad news; underneath the
gloss and glitter, there is some real gold.
Two outstanding features have been added,
which will be a big boost to improving print
workflow, and they are much more useful
than any eye-catching gizmo.
Generative Expand — not fill — addresses
a daily task in changing the size and
shape of an image to fit the size of a print,
whether simply to add bleed around the
edges or physically change its dimensions
and orientation — portrait into landscape,
for example. If it’s just a solid colour that’s
required, it’s not a problem. More recently,
Content Aware became a handy tool for
creating those extra inches. But even with
manual control over the sample zone,
Content Aware can be a little unpredictable
and worse if you use the crop tool to expand
the canvas size and use that function
without manual supervision.
Generative Expand uses the crop tool in
the same way to extend the bounds of the
image, but using a smart generation of AI
can create a much more realistic panorama,
less prone to repetition and random pixels.
You can see the dramatic difference
between the two in the picture of the trials
bike going through a mud splash, which
starts out square to suit social media but
then is extended to more of a landscape to
NOVEMBER 2023 • QUICK PRINT PRO
PIXEL PROPHET
fill a space. With Content Aware, rocks and
tree trunks have been obviously cloned and
thrown into the mix, whereas GenEx does a
pretty good job of creating a whole new but
complementary larger landscape.
As ever, the cautionary note is that it’s
not going to be perfect with every image.
How it interprets the content will depend
on what it is given, which is still down to
the judgement of a processor rather than
human intuition. So, keep the manual
override options always on hand if you need
to take a step backwards.
My new favourite tool, however, is the
Colour Picker. This has all the electronic
assistance but with full human control.
Last month, I illustrated how I brought an
old colour transparency back to life using
the masking tool and colour adjustment
to enhance some of the elements in the
picture. This new tool does a similar job but
makes the task even easier.
There have always been colour selection
tools in Photoshop, of course, but isolating
and adjusting colours has always been a bit
problematic just because of the difficulty
of isolating one pixel hue from another.
The basic colour tools in Photoshop are just
that, basic, and have remained virtually
unchanged over the years. More recently,
the Colour Mixer was introduced into
Lightroom and then into the Camera Raw
Filter.
The advantage of the Colour Mixer is that
rather than the simple control of CMYK or
RGB, the Mixer has eight colours, adding
Orange, Green, Aqua and Purple to the
available gamut. Each of these can be
adjusted in three different ways: by Hue,
which is the actual colour; Saturation, the
amount of that colour; and Luminance,
which is the intensity of the colour emitted
from it and often the most important for
print.
This was already a game changer for me as
I do a lot of artists’ Fine Art prints that have
been scanned or photographed. However,
they have been turned into digital content,
and there is always some corner of the
colour range that is just tantalisingly out of
reach with ink and paper. While the Colour
Mixer gave me a lot of control of output,
unless I used the masking tool, the effects
were spread across the whole image to one
degree or another. You might get the blue of
the sky right, but any cyan content in other
Content Aware – cloning surround detail
places would just have slipped away.
The Colour Picker is like a smart missile
targeting exactly the right spot and having
the same adjustments of Hue, Saturation
and Luminance, as well as range control
so you can further define how far you want
the colour reach to go. In the example of the
four blue strips, you can see the difference
between the two — you can adjust the
individual blues without changing any of
the others. Simple.
The caution is that it is simple if you have
a perfect file to work with. Unfortunately,
so much of what we have to deal with
is so much less than perfect, and this
technology’s limitation, as ever, is the input.
Colour Picker
Colour Mixer
Generative Expand – intelligently filling detail
If you’ve got lots of pixels, you’ve got lots of
colour information you can play with, and it
makes it a lot easier for the techy side to do
its magic.
Without enough of those little squares,
even the smartest artificial brain is going to
struggle. It will always produce something
— it has to — but it won’t always be what
you want or expect. Certainly, it probably
won’t be what the customer expects, which
is why you need all the help that Adobe can
provide.
There are likely to be a few more things I
have yet to discover, things certainly more
useful to the professional than Lens Blur, so
I will keep you posted as I find them.

The sale of these unique presents raises important
funds for the RNLI, a lasting gift that encourages reading
and is an example of what is now possible in our industry
today. All this in proper tactile print your family will enjoy
getting to grips with.
Just add a name: It’s a wet and windy night before
Christmas, and most boys and girls are tucked up in bed.
But when Santa crashes his sleigh, who can he call for
help — and who will go to the rescue? This book puts a
child you know at the heart of an exciting sea rescue.
Make your little one the star: The A4 book features
illustrations by the
award-winning Hannah
Cumming. Hannah says:
“It was such a pleasure
illustrating this book, not
least because it’s the sort
of lovely, heart-warming
Christmas story I used to
read. But also because it was an opportunity to celebrate
the vital work the brave volunteers of the RNLI carry out
all year. They are just normal people being heroes, role
models for children and adults alike.’
THE PERFECT GIFT FOR ANY CHILD
Relatives or friends of the family can order the book and
specify the child’s name, gender and skin tone. Then, he
or she will be the star of a story that also features Santa,
Rudolph and an RNLI lifeboat crew.

COVER STORY
ANTALIS
KEAYKOLOUR
COLLECTION
Antalis has announced the re-launch of Keaykolour following its
acquisition of the paper brand from former supplier, Arjowiggins.
Since owning the brand, Antalis
has worked closely with former
manufacturing experts to produce a
refreshed range of papers with exceptional
quality, made to the exacting standards for
which the brand is famed.
With 45 shades to choose from,
Keaykolour offers one of the largest ranges
of coloured papers on the market.
The new Keaykolour collection comprises
uncoated papers, boards and matching
envelopes with a natural touch and
sophisticated colour palette.
Paper shades have been perfectly
matched for the nine colour families within
the collection, which range from pastels to
brights and halftones to intense, allowing
a variety of mix and match possibilities.
Consistency of colour is assured thanks
to the use of 100% fresh fibre pulp, which
also provides the strength and rigidity to
support higher technical capabilities for
finishing and converting.
A long time favourite of the creative
community, Keaykolour’s wide range of
papers and boards — with its chromatically
rich colour palette — is perfect for endless
creative applications, from corporate
identity to luxury packaging.
The updated Keaykolour range is now
available in a broad range of weights, from
120gsm to 450gsm. The range also offers
options for dry toner and HP Indigo, and
the full collection is suitable for embossing,
letterpress and other demanding print
techniques. To enable colour matching
for a brand, or to create a unique colour,
bespoke makings are also available upon
enquiry.
Sales Manager for Creative Papers at
Antalis, Vicky Weatherington, comments:
“Keaykolour has been a hugely popular
choice for designers and creatives for all
kinds of print projects for many years now.
We’re delighted to offer continuity of the
prestigious brand with an impressive array
of colours, lovely tactile feel and improved
colour consistency and technical capacity.”

PAPER CHASE
FEDRIGONI REVAMPS MATERICA
AND WOODSTOCK
Fedrigoni Group, the producer of specialty papers for premium packaging,
publishing and graphics, as well as self-adhesive labelling products, has
launched the latest swatches for their ranges of uncoated recycled papers
Materica and Woodstock. Both align with the latest colour trends, reflecting
the modern need to reconnect with nature.
The latest swatches include additional features not seen before, with the
Materica swatch showcasing four new shades, and Woodstock including
grammages for folding boxes. The new colour palettes available with both
swatches align with the latest colour hues which remain in keeping with the
range.
First launched in 2018, Materica has been revamped and is now available in
14 warm shades, all from 120gsm to 360gsm. The distinct bulkiness of the range
inspired the name, as Materica is Italian for the English word ‘material’.
The pulp coloured paper and boards are made with a blend of 25% recycled
materials, 25% pure virgin fibres, 10% cotton fibres, 40% CTMP fibres, all FSC
certified. The earthy, rustic Mediterranean colours are reflected in the rough
texture given by the cotton fibres providing a rich tactile and visual experience,
and created to give an elevated feel to both premium packaging and book covers
because of its print definition and foldability.
Woodstock - now with a grammage ideal for folding boxes - is a range of
uncoated papers and boards, made with 80% recycled waste fibres and 20%
FSC certified virgin fibres. The collection is available in pulp coloured, soft pastel
shades, and unlike Materica, Woodstock is smooth to the touch with a unique
retro and nostalgic feel.
Ian Braithwaite at Fedrigoni commented: “Materica and Woodstock have
become iconic ranges from Fedrigoni, and we wanted to create greater features
for our customers to choose from. Each range offers unique attributes which
can be applied across various forms including packaging, menus and books.
As we move towards a greener future we’re proud that our premium ranges are
embracing both virgin and recycled fibres, helping to ensure Fedrigoni remains
committed to our efforts and remain experts in the print and paper industry
without compromising on our environmental values.”
New Woodstock and Materica swatches are available now.

TWO SIDES GLOBAL ANTI-GREENWASH CAMPAIGN
Since the campaign began in 2010, globally, Two Sides has successfully
challenged over 1075 organisations that subject their customers to
repeated greenwashing messages which are damaging to the paper,
print and mailing industry.
With huge pressures on the
economy; banks, telecom providers,
utility companies and even
governmental organisations are
increasingly focused on switching
their customers from paper to digital
services to cut costs. All too often their
customer communications attempt
to mask these cost-saving efforts,
justifying the switch with unfounded
environmental marketing appeals
such as “Go Green — Go Paperless”
and “Choose e-billing and help save
a tree.” Recent consumer survey results from Two Sides 2023 ‘Trend Tracker’
report, reveals that 55% of European consumers believe environmental
arguments from companies to switch to digital communications are
misleading and are about reducing costs.
“Not only are these greenwash claims in breach of established environmental
marketing rules, but they are hugely damaging to an industry which has a
solid and continually improving environmental record,” says Two Sides Europe
Managing Director Jonathan Tame. “Far from ‘saving trees,’ a healthy market
for forest products such as paper encourages the long term growth of forests
through sustainable forest management. Many of the organisations we engage
are surprised to learn that European forests have actually been growing by
1,500 football pitches every day.”
Globally, Two Sides has engaged over 2100 organisations making misleading
statements about paper. So far, over 1075 of them have removed such
statements from their communications and Two Sides continues to engage
and inform the remaining organisations. The organisations were located
throughout Europe, North and South America, South Africa, Australia and New
Zealand.
In Europe, to date, 682 companies have removed unsubstantiated claims
about paper, including Dunhelm, British Gas, Intermarche, American Express
and Sparebanken Vest, to name a few.
“It remains vital that greenwash
is challenged to ensure that the
industry’s great environmental
record is recognised and that the
livelihoods of thousands of industry
employees, as well as print, paper and
postage volumes, are not damaged
by the spread of misleading and
opportunistic greenwash marketing,”
Tame says.
Because of the huge reach of some
of these greenwashing organisations,
their unsubstantiated claims have a damaging effect on consumer perceptions
of paper and threaten a sector that employs over 640,000 people in more than
112,000 European businesses. The financial impact of greenwash on the paper,
print and mailing industry is of global concern if these messages continue
without challenge. Research conducted by Two Sidesand Censuswide in
2021,found that in Europe alone, greenwashing threatens the loss of €337
million of value annually to the paper, print and mailing industry.
The Anti-greenwash Campaign continues to be a priority for TwoSides,
and we will continue to urge companies to reject the use of unsubstantiated
and misleading environmental claims about going paperless in all of their
communications.
“We are grateful for the cooperation of the hundreds of organisations that
have changed or eliminated greenwashing claims from their messaging, and
we are also thankfull for the many industry stakeholders and members of the
public who send Two Sides examples of greenwash, ”Tame concludes.

ANNUAL LUNCHEON
The Printing Charity has announced that
eProductivity Software (ePS) and HP
have signed up to support the charity
through sponsorship of November’s
Annual Luncheon.
Printing Charity CEO Neil Lovell said: “We
are truly thrilled to have ePS and HP joining
us as the official sponsors this year. Through
their support, we can continue to bring
our industry together to celebrate the achievements of our sectors over the
past 12 months and discuss shared challenges and opportunities. We hope
that through attending our Annual Luncheon guests feel both inspired by our
industry’s potential and supported by the networks they build through the
people they meet there. This year, ePS and HP are playing a key role in making
this happen.”
ePS recently acquired Tharstern, a print business that had seen significant
positive outcomes for its employees when the Printing Charity’s helpline
was implemented. The Printing Charity remains a key part of ePS’ plans for
employee and industry support.
“ePS is looking forward to remaining an active Printing Charity supporter,
and continuing to evolve the relationship for the benefit of our team and of the

HP is committed to acting as an ambassador for the Printing Charity,
broadening the network of organisations aware of the range of support offered
by the charity for people working in print.
Jane Rixon, HP’s Large Format Business UKI Business Development Manager,
explained: “When we first heard about the Printing Charity, we were blown
away to learn about the different initiatives and care they provide. We are
honoured to support this year’s Luncheon because we want to play our part
in raising awareness about this support amongst other businesses in the print
sector who may not realise that the charity exists. At HP we believe it’s very
important for employers to look after the mental health and wellbeing of their
employees, and the charity is a great way for organisations across our industry
to achieve this, helping print employees navigate through life’s challenges. We
look forward to working with the Printing Charity in future projects like this.”
The charity’s Annual Luncheon is a highlight of the year for those working in
the sectors the charity works alongside: print, paper, packaging, publishing
and graphics. This year, guests will hear from Michael Grade, the Printing
Charity’s 2023 President, as well as enjoying a three course meal and catching

2023 PRINT CENSUS
PUBLISHED BY FESPA
FESPA has published the headline findings of
its 2023 Print Census, highlighting the impact
of rising sustainability demands and evolving
customer requirements on business models and
investment plans.
Conducted in partnership with InfoTrends, a
division of Keypoint Intelligence, this
year’s Census further explored the
long-term trends that emerged from
the analysis of the 2018 Print Census,
including revenue and industry outlook,
the rise of environmental pressures,
changing customer demands, future
investment and purchasing plans, and
business models and strategies.
1,778 printers and sign makers from over 120
countries participated in the survey, representing a
26.5% increase from the last Print Census published
in May 2018. Respondents defined their business
focus as graphics (61%), signage (26%), textile (24%)
and industrial (14%).
KEY 2023 PRINT CENSUS FINDINGS
Revenue increase and industry outlook: The
market outlook remains positive in line with the
results from 2018, with 71% of respondents stating
that they are optimistic about the future of their
business, despite the considerable economic
challenges of the past five years.
The survey further highlighted that the industry
is adapting to the changing landscape and finding
new opportunities for growth. In accordance with
this, respondents reported a 7% average revenue
increase since the 2018 Census. In 2018, the mean
annual revenue was reported as €4.4m, compared
with a mean annual revenue of €4.7m in 2023,
showing a €330k increase.
Growing Demand For Sustainability: The
Census reaffirmed that the pressure on printers
and sign makers to be more sustainable continues
to rise, with 72% of print buyers
requesting environmentally
friendly products and practices.
25% of respondents shared that
their customers cared most about
sustainable products and 12%
identified a focus on sustainable
manufacturing, however, most
printers (36%) disclosed that their customers cared
about both. The perceived cost increases are often
a barrier to sustainable production, but 70% of
the respondents shared that they could address
sustainability demands without raising their prices
and a further 22% advised that they already raised
pricing without impact on sales. Customer demand
continues to change the market.
The industry is being shaped by changing
customer requirements, including quicker
turnaround times, more personalisation and
versioning options, and shorter print runs. 67% of
responses showed an increase in the demand for
faster turnaround, 58% noted a rise in requests for
shorter runs and 56% highlighted the upsurge in
interest for more versioning and personalisation,
while only 38% noted an increase in the demand for
more complex logistic requirements.
Wide Format Purchasing Plans: The survey
highlighted that print service providers are

“Elanders is delighted to become
a member and support Two Sides. Sustainability is an integrated part of our
business and strategy, we consider sustainable work a responsibility that also
provides great opportunities to create value and improve profitability. We
believe that sustainability goes hand in hand with a global perspective. In our
environmental work, we always strive to improve our processes, production
methods, and products that decrease our ecological footprint. The ambition is to
interested in investing in technology that can
streamline production and provide greater
application flexibility. For the 201 respondents who
own screen printing and wide format equipment,
UV-curable Inkjet (27%), eco-solvent Inkjet (18%)
and CNC finishing (17%) are the highest priority for
their purchasing plans.
Business expansion drives technology
investment: When asked about the rationale
behind planned technological investments, 55%
of respondents want to enter new markets and
expand their service and application offerings, 53%
are focused on enhancing print quality and 52% are
looking to reduce the unit cost.
FESPA Head Of Associations & Technical Lead,
Graeme Richardson-Locke, comments, “It’s a
positive result to see our community so optimistic
not only about the future of our industry, but also
about the growth potential of their businesses. The
survey once again cemented that one of the key
challenges printers and sign makers are currently
facing are the ever changing customer demands and
the growing need for sustainable solutions. Thanks
to the responses from our community, we can now
develop and evolve our offering to tailor it, but
above all, we hope that the Census findings will help
our community to benchmark themselves against
similar businesses globally, and to make informed
choices for their future.”

THE JOKE’S ON YOU
READERS’ SCRIBES
SOMETHING TO SHARE?
CAT’S MEOW
I took my cat’s meds by accident. Don’t ask meow.
BONFIRE NIGHT CRACKERS…
Police arrested two people on Bonfire Night —
one for drinking battery acid, the other for eating
fireworks. They charged one and let the other one
off!
Why should you make sure your bonfire night is
well timed? Otherwise it will be bang out of order!
How many aerospace engineers does it take to
start a bonfire? None — it’s not rocket science!
What’s Guy Fawkes’ favourite sport? Fuse ball!
Guy Fawkes tried giving away all his unusable
explosives to the charity shop I said, don’t do that!
They’ll re-fuse it!
I launched my own clothing line this week. I
shouldn’t have lit the fireworks near the washing!
What was Guy Fawkes’ favourite meal? Bangers
and mash!
What do you call a duck who likes watching
fireworks? A fire quacker!
How many surrealists does it take to set the Guy
Fawkes bonfire burning? Fish!
Wish I’d never got a tattoo of a bonfire on my
wrist. Loads of places won’t allow me in with
firearms!
A friend was having a bonfire night party, so
I sprayed it with a fire extinguisher. He was delighted!
I got arrested on bonfire night. Don’t worry, I was
let off!
Got my friend an unnecessarily large rocket for
bonfire night. He’s over the moon!
What’s the best salad to serve on Guy Fawkes’
Night? Rocket!
BLACK FRIDAY — IT’S A JOKE
It’s Black Friday, and I just got an iPhone 15 for my
print salesman. I thought it was a good trade.
Black Friday: The day people spend money they
don’t have on things they don’t need.
Black Friday is a scam. You should be mad they
overcharge you 364 days a year.
Bought a new vacuum on Black Friday. It sucks!
NOVEMBER 12TH — HAPPY HOUR DAY
We asked 30 quick print pros for their favourite beer
o’clock quips.
1. “I’m not really a social drinker. I would say most
of my drinking is work related.”
2. “Jobs: Those annoying eight hours before happy
hour
3. “Happy hour is the best hour.”
4. “I’ve reached the age where ‘happy hour’ is a
nap!”
5. “It’s beginning to look a lot like cocktails.”
6. “We go together like Fridays and happy hour.”
7. “Keep calm and skip to happy hour.”
8. “I work until beer o’clock.” — Stephen King
9. “Why limit happy to an hour?” — W.C. Fields
10. “Work is a good time filler between waking up
and happy hour.”
11. “Stop trying to make everyone happy. You’re not
beer.”
12. “Only count the happy hours.”
13. “Finish your day sparkling.”
14. “Live every hour like it’s happy hour.”
15. “Get your happy on.”
16. “It’s always happy hour up in here.”
17. “To beer or not to beer. That is a silly question.”
18. “I live for thirsty Thursday.”
19. “You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy beer
and that’s kind of the same thing.”
20. “Peace, love, and happy hour.”
21. “I need a little drinky drink.”
22. “Darling, every hour is ‘happy hour’ when you
are fabulous.”
23. “Wine Wednesday: Like a little holiday in the
middle of the week.”
24. “Isn’t it just amazing how potatoes give us fries
and vodka? The rest of the vegetables should
get their sh*t together.”
25. “It’s fri-nally Friday.”

SIGN OF THE TIMES
A small business owner was upset when a brand
new corporate chain much like his own opened
next door and erected a huge sign which read
“BEST BLACK FRIDAY DEALS!”
He was horrified when another competitor
opened on the other side of him and announced its
arrival with an even larger sign, reading “LOWEST
BLACK FRIDAY PRICES!”
The small business owner panicked, until he got
an idea. He put the biggest sign of all over his own
shop.
It read “MAIN ENTRANCE”.
KEEP AFLOAT
The boat yard is having a huge discount on all their
yachts and dinghies for Black Friday this year. It will
be the biggest sail event they’ve ever had.

Why couldn’t the man 3D printing his face control

The Koreans were printing with movable type in
1403. I was in 1402 and the noise kept me awake all
night.
Sales Manager: If I knew your writing was so small
I’d never have hired you. Sales Trainee: Well it was
on my CV, you should have read the small print.
My printer just told me it was joining a band,
which makes sense. It loves to jam.
A word in your drum like…
My brother always wanted

For his birthday, I got him

I’m now expecting
