Editor

The job shadowing activity within the Erasmus+ KA122 project “School&

Sustainability” was the first step of our school amazing Erasmus

adventure, providing a valuable opportunity for growth and

international exchange. The participants (our headmaster, Alessandra

Tallarico, the school chief administrator, Carolina Romano, and three

teachers, Giuseppe Romano, Marisol Mangravita and me) had the

chance to observe innovative teaching methods, deepen their

understanding of sustainability, and strengthen collaboration with the

partener CEIP Narixa in Nerja (Spain). It has been an informal

experience that has developed a great teamwork and useful

cooperation between teachers from different countries.

This magazine aims to gather the contributions of our third year

students who participated in this exciting study trip related to the

various experiences they had during their Erasmus; in appendix, there

are impressions of the 2nd classes students.

Through their words, their images, their emotions we can certainly

appreciate how this opportunity was a fundamental stage in their

educational growth but not only.

Leaders

On February 2nd, 4 teachers (Tiziana Antonelli, Daniela Della Gatta,

Cristina Magliulo, Rita Pernice) and me plus 24 students from the ICS

De Nicola Sasso middle school were the protagonists of a training and

learning path that gave us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in

Spanish culture, to share moments of daily life with foreign peers in an

authentic and stimulating context.

The smiles of our students during their stay in Spain and on our return,

shone brighter than a thousand words and attests the bonds that have

been established between the children of the two nations and of the

horizons that are expanding in our school.

The success of the project is the result of the constant commitment of

the institute in promoting high-value educational projects, supporting

students in their personal and scholastic growth.

The Erasmus experience was not simply an exchange program, but a

bridge to the future, an open door to the world, an opportunity to grow

and become aware and responsible citizens. Satisfied with this

experience, I thank from the bottom of my heart those who have made

all this possible for a school that works and that strongly believes in the

value of sharing.

F

new

rom February 2nd to 9th,

we took part in a study trip

to Nerja, with the goal of

improving our language

knowledge and discovering

things about the city.

Moreover, we had the opportunity to

learn about new cultures and try new

things.

This trip has helped us broaden our

worldview, making us more responsable

and active.

The program included classes at local

schools and trip with our friends.

One of the best experience was when we

went to an elementary school, where we

had the opportunity to practice Spanish

with the children and make new friends.

This allowed us to learn new words but also

to socialize better with the other people.

In conclusion, this experience has had a

significant impact on our personal

growth. It has given us the motivation to

continue studying forcing languages and

take on new experiences that allow us to

explore the world in a deeper way.

visiting

Nerja

By Gabriella Accardo | Claudia Mazza | Gabriella Parlati | Giorgia Sorrentino

Our visit began with journey to the “Cuevas

de Nerja” that makes this city famous with

its prehistoric paintings but to get there we

travelled with the “Cuevas tren”, the tourist

train that connects the city center with the

caves. It is also a sustainable choice as it

takes a scenic route offering an alternative

to buses.

The Balcón de Europa is the beating heart

of Nerja thanks to the views that can be

seen from this point and the street artists

that make everything more magical. First of

all, the promenade that leads here is lined

with palm trees, restaurants. On the balcony

there is a life-size statue of King Alfonso

XII who gave his name to this place.

Burriana Beach is one of the most

popular in Nerja, characterised by its

golden sand and crystal clear waters.

The beach is easily accessible from the

city centre, even on foot.

There are also beach volleyball courts

and climbing equipment.

The promenade has many ice cream

and souvenir shops where you can

enjoy local cuisine and buy gifts that

will satisfy all tastes!

GRANADA

During our Erasmus experience in Nerja,

Spain, we visited many places but the one we

liked the most was the city of science in

Granada. We left from Nerja to arrive at the

city of Science where we found our guide

Gianluca. Inside the museum we saw the

map of the museum and then we visited the

various areas. The first exhibition was that of

stuffed animals, we liked it a lot because it

was very fascinating to see how they were

stuffed. We visited the area dedicated to

space; it was not very interesting for us

because we were not very interested but it

was done very well. We passed through the

area dedicated to the human body where we

saw the comparison of the heart of a whale

and that of a man!

Then we saw the Titanic exhibition where

there was a reproduction of the majestic ship

and it was beautiful. We entered the

rainforest room where we found many

animal species but especially butterflies that

fascinated us. In our opinion this experience

was constructive, interesting and we had a lot

of fun with our friends.

L’ALHAMBRA:

a wonderful

place

By Beatrice Caccavale | Roberta Verdoliva

The school experience we had in Spain

for the Erasmus project from February

2nd to 9th was very educational. It

allowed us to interact with other students

at our school but above all to get in

touch with other cultures and languages.

The week was full of meetings and visits

held in different locations near the city of

Nerja, but not only.

A particularly interesting place was the

Alhambra of Granada, the greatest

example of art and architecture in

Andalusia, where we could visit the

Nasrid Palaces, a very large complex that

includes several palaces, courtyards,

medine, mosques, Gardens that have left

us speechless for their magnificence.

Every detail of the plaster decorations

and colorful tiles told a fascinating story.

The gardens of the Generalife with their

fountains and vegetation, offered an

atmosphere of peace and harmony.

The visit to the fortress of the Alcazaba was

spectacular: from there you could admire

the entire city of Granada and the Sierra

Nevada mountains. It was spectacular to

look at the majesty of the palace, listen to

the stories that were hidden in the walls of

the palace and appreciate how the Arab

influence has left a deep mark on the art in

the Spanish architecture of Granada.

The stories of the tour guide have

allowed us to bring back to the present

the stories of past centuries, making them

almost come alive in the words that were

told. Everyone showed great interest and

fascination for the stories we have been

told.

The Alhambra is not only a historical site,

but a place that conveys emotions and

wonder to anyone who visits it and we

hope to return one day to visit these

places rich in history and culture.

Frigiliana

Frigiliana is a small town near Nerja that

we reached by public buses. It is a

charming white village that with its

cobbled streets symbolizes the icon of

the Costa del Sol. It is known for its

white houses and ceramic tiles that tell

the history of the city. The terraces

represent the viewpoints of the city

where you can admire the mountains, the

sea and the beautiful sunsets!

MALAGA:

A TOUR IN THE SUN

The trip we made in Spain was

fantastic, also because ours was a very

united group. The only boring part was

the check in at the airport.

The food in the hotel was not very

good but outside it was very good.

In the schools we felt welcomed and

the boys/girls were good company, in

fact we still keep in touch with

someone. The cities were all very nice

and also the activities done.

PICASSO

Perhaps the most beautiful activity was

visiting Malaga for a long sunny day.

Picasso was born here in Malaga and we

visited the museum dedicated to this

famous and extraordinary painter.

We also took time to take a walk along

la Malagueta, the wonderful sea

promenade in the Harbour area and to

stroll through the city facsinating alleys

and shopping streets.

MALAGUETA

We have to say that there was nothing that

we did not like about this trip and it is an

experience that we would repeat infinite

time. Even the teachers who accompanied

us were friendly, nice and understanding.

The worst part?

Getting back to Italy.

Sustainable

in

Costa

del Sol

20

During our "Erasmus" experience, we

had the opportunity to notice some

sustainable choices that the Spanish

have adopted to improve their living

conditions. For example, electric

scooters are often used, the streets

are very clean and there is greater

respect for the highway code. At

first glance we noticed a very wellkept

environment, even the garbage

bins were often emptied.

Even the hotel where we stayed was

very careful to avoid food waste.

All this certainly makes Spain a

sustainable destination, just think of

the wind generators that we saw

during the transport, useful for the

production of renewable energy or

even what is the unsorted collection,

not to mention the cycle paths that

encourage the use of bicycles in

order to reduce pollution due to

smog and improve the air we

breathe.
