And thank you to all the members who purchase the raffle tickets.

And thank you to Chris Salazar for his new position of Sargeant at Arms

MARCH

SUNSHINE & CLOUDS

By Debbie Garrison

We are a Car Club - And We are a Club of Restoration, whether to our Minds,

Souls or Bodies. Runs are good for our Souls and our Minds. What is better

than a run with forty of your Friends. Do a Run! Whether it is a dinner or

lunch run, a movie run or a run out of town. Have an idea for a run; call

Frank or get together with other club members and plan a run.

We also are a club of members that are going through restoration of their

health, we need to lift them up with friendship, care and our prayers.

March was our first meeting at Yosemite Falls Café on Blackstone Ave with

close to eighty members and guests in attendance. We welcomed two new Members,

Duane Farley and David Molettieri to our Corvette family.

Jim and Mary Lou Sickler just returned from Las Vegas attending a NASCAR Cup

race and celebrating getting married in Las Vegas 26 years ago this month.

They wore their wedding attire to our General Meeting; vintage NASCAR leather

jackets with Mary Lou announcing, “That she fits in her Wedding Dress.”

Gary Linsner had an angiogram and received a stent and is doing well and

feeling great. He mentioned that his doctor told him to stay away from stress,

but he said she (Pam) follows him around. You are in trouble, Gary.

Pam Linsner had a little mishap this past weekend while walking her dogs. She

tripped walking on an uneven sidewalk and fell, received three stitches and a

black eye and missed the Mariposa Run.

Suzanne Mott had a small cancer removed from her hand and is recovering well.

Don Fairchild was able to attend our meeting even after having a total hip

replacement. While in the hospital he sold his corvette but no worries he is

buying a new one as soon as he can get into a corvette again.

Robert Still had his third Immunotherapy treatment and is feeling good.

Jimmy Webb has returned to work in true Jimmy fashion. He and Jody are

awaiting the results of his last tests.

I’m not sure if this is Sunshine News or not but after a U-turn on his

Mariposa Run Jimmy Webb has returned the U-Turn Award back to Frank Phillips.

Congratulations Frank! Frank will be looking forward to passing it on to the

next Honoree.

Your Life’s journey is a testament to strength and wisdom, and your

experiences are a treasure. Embrace the beauty of each day and keep shining!

Frank Phillips,

VP Activities

Hello from your infamous vp of activities! ;). Welcome to our new members

- it’s a pleasure to have you on board. Since last writing, we made love,

hehe, on the Valentine’s Day Run and we got to travel some really cool

mountain roads topped off with some excellent blues guitar playing by AC

Myles. Good times! We had burgers at Triangle and a “Cars” movie at The

Hanger. We also had a mountainous time in and around the hills of Raymond,

Mariposa and Coarsegold that included a happy…, very Happy Burger in

Mariposa. Yummy! Oh yeah, we learned to pan and dig for gold at The

Mariposa Museum - and no, we won’t share ;). Next month is another movie

at The Hanger, the Clovis Rodeo Parade, and the Kingsburg Car Show. Show

up or shut up! :) ~Frank

One Night Stand-Black Oak Casino

Friday, February 28, 2025

We all met at South Gate Brewery for Lunch before we started on our way. We got to the restaurant early and basically

had the entire place to ourselves for our lunch party.

The weather was spectacular for the month of February. Cool but not cold and clear with no rain in sight. All our cars look

stupendous and ready for the trip. It was great to see that Diane’s car was repaired and ready for a test drive. She had

some minor work done to the front end of her Yellow C6 and wasn’t sure if she would be able to bring her corvette on the

run. She had volunteered to be the swoop for the run, being that she may have had to use a civilian vehicle for the run.

Thanks Diane and Wayne for helping to keep the group together.

We got lucky that the weather came through for us.

Our route started in Oakhurst on Highway 49 heading west. We traveled to Mariposa and took HWY140 west to Hornitos.

We traveled though the magnificent rolling hills to our first stop at Don Pedro Market for a snack and bathroom break. The

area is beautiful at this time of year with everything green and all the cows were happy. We left Don Pedro Market and

proceeded over the dam at Lake Don Pedro where we could see the lake and the beautiful green hillsides that encompass

the surrounding area of the hydrogeneration southern part of the lake. The roads were well kept and smooth, which

allowed us to take in the scenery without having to watch for potholes. I traveled below the speed limit so we could all

take in the scenery

We got to Black Oak Casino and proceeded to our reserved parking location which was arranged by the parking sta at

the casino. Check in was a breeze and the sta was very helpful with our overnight baggage. My wife always packs like

we are staying for a week instead of a night. The casino hotel had just been renovated, and the lobby was modern and

well designed with beautiful modern large beam ceilings and stacked rock fireplace when you enter the lobby. The rooms

were all updated and very clean, Dee was very happy with the room. We had dinner in the Black Oak Café in the casino. I

had a great meal, and Dee was happy with her meal also. I polled the group, and everyone was very happy with their meal

and the service they received and the Café.

After dinner we proceeded to the event at Willow Creek Bar. AC Myles put on a great show and came down to visit with

the group after the show.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the coee shop in the hotel. Everyone was on their own for breakfast. They had a

small coee shop located in the hotel, it was very convenient, and the food was great. We got a ride, with our luggage,

from the sta to our Vette on the fourth floor of the parking garage.

We decided to travel back though HWY49, which google maps took us through the backroads of the countryside. The 3-

mile road was rough, and I was thinking about turning around, but in the back of my mind, I didn’t want Frank’s favorite

trophy, so I pressed on.

On the path to Mariposa, we encounter a stray calf on the roadway on HWY49 in the mountains. Good thing he was on his

side of the road. I was able to alert everyone with the radio to “Watch out for cow in the roadway”, and we were all able to

avoid hitting him. That could have ended badly, thank goodness for the radios.

We stopped in Mariposa and had lunch at 1850 on the main drag. The food was great, and the service is always on point.

It was a great time, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIES WITH THE FLYING GROUP

MARCH 2025

All I can say is WOW! What a great get together!

Our biggest group so far. We had 40 people join us

at Triangle Drive-In and more joining us for the

movies with the EAA Chapter 376 Flying Group.

We started at Triangle Drive-In expecting 20-25

people and it quickly grew to 40 people. The

restaurant was very accommodating, and we all got

served pretty quickly for the amount of people at

one time. We caravaned over to the hangar at Sierra

Sky Park where we were greeted by the Flying Group

and filled the Hangar with more than 60 people.

The movie this month was the Disney film “Cars,” it

was so much fun seeing a Disney favorite. Whether

it was your first time or seeing it again it is a

film with a heart and a delightful story. We had an

enjoyable night of laughter and fellowship while we

enjoyed popcorn, water & soda provided by the

Flying Group. There was quite a selection of

desserts brought by the movie crowd.

Thank you, Diane Tjerrild and the EAA Chapter 376

Group, for hosting the movie and for the

invitation.

Come join us on the second Saturday of each month

for a free movie and snacks. April’s movie will be

the 2014 movie Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul

as a muscle car mechanic bent on revenge to avenge

his wrongful prison sentence.

Wear your Club Badge and bring a dessert to share.

We will be meeting at Triangle Drive-In at 3173 W

Shaw Ave. at 5:00 PM for a quick dinner before the

movie. Please let me know if you plan to come so we

can let the restaurant know how many to expect.

Debbie & Keith Garrison
