Choosing the Right Lawyer is No ACCIDENT- A Personal Injury Guide - By Jeff Adelman (2025 Edition)
If you are reading this, you likely have been injured as a result of a car accident or slipping or tripping on someone’s premises as a result of negligence. In the pages that follow, I will provide insight as to what you should expect from a lawyer (attorney) fighting on your behalf for personal injuries. This book is intended as a general guide if you are unfortunate to have had this happen to you. It has been with the least amount of “legalese” as possible, so you do not have to be a lawyer to understand it.

STATUTES OF LIMITATION
Statutes of limitation vary from state to state, but in Florida, Illinois and
at least half of the country, if you don’t file your personal injury lawsuit
generally within TWO years of the date of the occurrence, you are timebarred
from ever bringing an action for that accident and your injuries.
If you would like to see what the statute of limitations is for your injury
claim, there is a helpful chart available on www.NOLO.com if you
search “Civil Statutes of Limitation.” Be sure to ask your attorney about
how the relevant Statute of Limitation affects your Florida personal
injury claim. If you are going to make a claim, don’t wait out the
calendar—file. Delay can hurt you and hurt your attorney’s ability to
give you immediate guidance.
