FROM THE

PRESIDENT

Submitted by

Glenn Henderson

Wow! It is already June. The time flies when you are having

fun. Speaking of having fun, we just got back from South Lake

Tahoe with the club. We had a wonderful time. We had

unforgettable adventures. Like the paddlewheel boat trip

including a great dinner on the route to Emerald Bay. And the

dinner in the hospitality sweet on the first night. And the

game room where everyone had something fun to do. The escape

room, The fun twisty roads in the mountains with the beautiful

scenery. The bank robbery staged in Virginia City. We had

great leadership and planning by David and Julie Sons and Mike

and Mary Lou Lebda. Thank you very much.

The annual club picnic at Kroekerville was scheduled for June

1st and may have already occurred by the time you read this.

I am excited about the upcoming events on the calendar. June 5-

7 Monterey Corvette Cruise led by Louis and Socorro Biglieri

Then on June 21-22 nd Keep up run to Capitola led by Chris and

Dee Salazar.

The Prescott Corvette Show will take place from September 24th

to 28th, led by Jimmy and Jody Webb.

November 7 -9 th will be the president’s mystery run. Who knows

where we will go?

There is no sign-up sheet yet, it is just a message for saving

the date.

Our relocation of the tables at Yosemite Falls Café seems to

work out better this way.

The speakers that Allen Byus brought for us to use worked out

great.

Thank you, Allen!

We have an excellent group of friends in this club; I am proud

to be a member of CVC.

I look forward to seeing you at the events and at our

meetings.

Regards,

Glenn

MAY

SUNSHINE & CLOUDS

By Debbie Garrison

May has brought Sunshine and Clouds to our Corvette Family

Robert Still had surgery to remove tumor and has drain tube to remove

fluid from the surgery site and will have the tube for a couple more

weeks. He is still in pain, but he is powering through, he is such a

trouper.

Tom Piercy had an incident in the parking lot before the Coalinga Run

and was transported to the hospital. Tom was diagnosed with a stroke in

the back of his head; he has had a CT and is wearing a heart monitor to

try to decide what caused the stroke. Tom is feeling better, and he and

Emily would like to thank Dana Beasley and Dennis Ward for their quick

thinking, their calm demeanor made her feel very confident that getting

him to hospital was the best decision. She would like to thank the club

members for their prayers.

Mike and Lynne Henenfent had to drop out of the Tahoe Run just days

before the run. Mike spent several hours in ER, diagnosed with

pneumonia again, was given antibiotics by IV and sent home with more.

Side effects from antibiotics made him weaker. Mike is trying to rest

and regain some strength.

Dennis and Leta Ward’s daughter had to have emergency surgery to remove

her appendix, surgery was successful but she developed sepsis. Thank

goodness she has now recovered.

Dennis and Leta Ward attended the Tahoe Run but returned early as

Dennis was having some breathing issues. Ended up in emergency where he

stayed until they were able to get him into a room. Dennis has been

diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and along with heart issues and fluid

build-up. He has been discharged from hospital and sent home with

oxygen if he needs it and a new medication regimen. Leta and Dennis

want to thank everyone for the prayers, calls and visits.

Steve Rosen had a cortisone in his shoulder hoping it would help with

pain but will be scheduling surgery after his next doctor appointment.

UPDATE: Steve had the shoulder surgery and is now recovering.

Sad news about one of our Charter Members of CVC; Marilyn Goodall and

husband Allyn Goodall helped form this club. They moved to Nipomo

several years back to care for Allyn’s aging mother. Marilyn had a

stroke in November of last year and has now been moved into hospice

care. UPDATE: Marilyn passed away peacefully on May 27 th

Sunshine & Clouds

Page 2

Please continue to pray for our members who are having health

challenges.

Really exciting news for Bob Peluso; he will be on the Honor

Flight going to DC this September.

Bob and Charlotte will be leaving on a two-week stay in Pismo to

relax and recharge.

Brenda Elrich is retiring from her job for PG&E at the end of

May.

Don Eskender will be retiring at the end of the school year after

a long career in teaching.

John and Cece Karlie’s granddaughter Macey graduated from UNLV

Law School this month and yes Grandma Cece cried all through it.

She did her undergraduate work in 3 years in Boston and at only

23 she already has a job as a Prosecutor for Riverside County.

Congrats to Macey and good job parents.

Evonne and Chris Arend’s daughter Stephanie just graduated from

Sacramento State with her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Asian

Studies with a minor in Japanese Language. They are very proud.

Jill and Steve Rosen’s grandson Sebastian just graduated from

Fresno State and so did Chris and Dee Salazar’s son Cameron. Both

graduated with a Bachelor of Science degrees in Business

Administration.

Mary Lou and Jim Sickler’s little dog Chloe found four kittens in

their backyard and are hand-raising them. She has three of the

four given away and is looking for a home for the last kitten.

It must be the time of year as I was gifted with two pregnant

Mama kitties in April and they have now given me six kittens

between the two. If you know someone looking for an adorable

kitten let me know.

Keith and I have both good news and bad news this month. The Good

News is after Keith’s last tests his heart function is better,

and his kidney function has returned to a normal level for an 82-

year-old man with diabetes for 27 years. The Bad News is that my

nephew had to have emergency surgery for a perforated colon and

is still in hospital with results still pending.

If you have Sunshine or Clouds that you would like to share with

our Corvette Family just send me text or an email.

Wishing you a Father's Day

that's as extraordinary as you

are to your family.

The Kentucky Derby Party

We brought a little Southern Charm to the West Coast for the fastest two

minutes in sports—and what a ride we had!

Everyone showed up in true Derby spirit with hats, fascinators, and bow

ties. Woodford Reserve, the official Kentucky Derby bourbon, added an

authentic touch to our punch and kept spirits high all afternoon.

Derby Day wouldn’t be complete without some cash changing hands.

Mike and Mary Lou kept the money rolling in and three lucky winners

walked away with a total of $440!

A huge thank-you to my incredible committee Jill, Kelly, Pam, Mary Lou,

and Mike for their generosity, wisdom and hands on help. You made

everything so much easier and helped ease the pressure a party like

this can bring. I can’t thank you enough… but I can say, next year will

be so much easier!

A special thank-you to Jody for her, we’ll say clever, but really sneaky

behind-the-scenes contribution of the finishing sweet touch on your

cupcake.

From knocking down pop-up tents to folding chairs, packing tables, and

gathering linens, everyone pitched in to make clean-up smooth and

simple. Thank you so much.

We’re bringing Kentucky’s Southern charm back to Clovis in 2026.

Save the Date: Saturday, May 2, 2026!

Jill Eskender

Hey, we wanted to thank you all for joining us on the

run! It was quick and, I hope, as fun-filled for you as

it was for us. Good doodads found at Bravoland

Kettleman, lunch at Big Bubba’d Bad BBQ, a little

step back in time in San Miguel, and personalized

(Barry and Suzanne) tour of the Coalinga Museum.

Patrick, you missed the windy turns, lol.

See you guys soon!

Frank & Dana

Tom and Emily - hurry back - we missed you!

Grateful you’re okay and recovering!
