the essence of teenage rebellion,

friendship, and resilience.

The BBC’s upcoming drama What It Feels

Like for a Girl is set to captivate audiences

with its raw, heartfelt, and exhilarating

portrayal of growing up trans in the early

2000s.

Inspired by Paris Lees’ memoir, the series follows

Byron, played by Ellis Howard, as they escape

their small-town life and dive into Nottingham’s

underground club scene, finding a new chosen

family among “The Fallen Divas.”

Alongside Howard, the show boasts a stellar

cast including Laura Haddock, Hannah Walters,

Michael Socha, Laquarn Lewis, Adam Ali,

Alex Thomas-Smith, Calam Lynch, and Dickie

Beau. Filming took place in South Wales and

Nottingham, ensuring authenticity in its setting

and atmosphere.

Promising to be both heartbreaking and hilarious,

What It Feels Like for a Girl brings themes

of self-discovery, survival, and community to

the forefront. Byron’s journey is filled with

exhilarating highs and devastating lows, capturing

With its bold storytelling,

dynamic characters, and vibrant

cinematography, the series

aims to challenge perspectives

and highlight the realities of

growing up transgender. The

show premieres on BBC Three

and BBC iPlayer on June 3,

2025, inviting audiences into

a world of chaotic glamour,

fierce independence, and the

unbreakable bonds of found

family.

Ready to dive into Byron’s journey? It looks like

it’s going to be a powerful and unforgettable

ride. Here are some Accurate Definitions

Trans Boy: A trans boy is an individual who

was typically assigned female at birth but whose

gender identity is male. That means this young

person—or adult, depending on their stage in

life—genuinely experiences and identifies as a

boy, even though their birth-assigned sex did not

align with that identity. Using the term “trans

boy” is a way of validating and respecting the

self-identified gender of someone who lives

authentically as male.

Trans Girl: Similarly, a trans girl is a person who

was typically assigned male at birth but identifies

as female. This label acknowledges that, despite

the sex designated at birth, the person’s internal

sense of gender is that of a girl or woman. It is

an important marker of identity, and using it is

both compassionate and affirming of how they see

themselves.

2 Warm Sands edition A DDG MAGAZINE

These definitions remind us that gender identity

isn’t simply about the body one is born with;

it’s about an inner, deeply felt sense of self.

Recognizing and honoring the terms that

individuals choose to describe themselves plays

a critical role in their mental health and overall

well-being.

Suicide Rates and Mental Health Challenges

Transgender individuals, including trans boys

and trans girls, face disproportionate challenges

when it comes to mental health. Studies have

consistently shown that transgender people are

at significantly higher risk for suicidal ideation,

suicide attempts, and self-harm compared to

cisgender individuals. For example, research

reported by the Williams Institute at UCLA has

indicated that among transgender adults in the

United States, approximately 81% have thought

about suicide and around 42% have attempted

it during their lifetimes . While these statistics

address the broader transgender community rather

than separating trans boys from trans girls, they

underline a distressing pattern linked to the high

levels of stigma, discrimination, and minority

stress many transgender people experience.

The heightened rates of suicide are not a reflection

of any inherent flaw or weakness in transgender

individuals but rather the impact of systemic

challenges—including bullying in schools,

exclusion from family or community support,

and barriers to accessing gender-affirming care.

Research shows that when trans youth receive

acceptance, validation, and proper mental

health support, the rates of suicidal ideation and

behaviors are markedly reduced. This suggests

that community support, inclusive policies, and

access to respectful mental health care are key

factors in improving outcomes for trans boys and

trans girls, along with the broader transgender

community.

Moving Forward with Compassion

Understanding the definitions of trans boys and

trans girls is important not only for respectful

communication but also for addressing the mental

health disparities that affect them. Compassionate

support—whether at home, at school, or in

the community—can be a matter of life and

death. Advocacy efforts, safe spaces, and access

to gender-affirming resources are crucial for

reducing the distress that leads to the alarmingly

high suicide rates among transgender people.

For anyone interested in learning more or in

supporting transgender youth, resources such as

suicide prevention toolkits explicitly designed for

trans people can offer guidance on how to provide

both emotional support and practical interventions

that affirm gender identity while also addressing

mental health needs 1.

If you’d like to explore further, we can delve

into how specific community programs, family

interventions, or policy changes have made a

tangible difference in reducing these risks, or

how you might become a more effective ally

by advocating for inclusive resources in your

community.

Trans Lifeline: A peer-support organization

that offers phone and online support

specifically by and for trans people. Hotline

(USA): 877-565-8860 Website: translifeline.org

We envision a world where trans people have

the connection, economic security, and care

everyone needs and deserves—free of prisons

and police.

Businesses and residences in Palm Springs that sustained damage as a result of the terrorist bombing

of May 17th need our assistance, and Desert Stonewall Democrats is providing financial help. We are

asking our members and friends to join us in making a tax deductible donation. After the tragedy, many

small business owners and homeowners discovered that their insurance policies would not cover the

cost of repairs. This is because Insurance companies do not cover damages that are result of ‘terrorist

acts’ unless a little known and little used policy rider is purchased. To address this, a charitable fund

called Rebuild Palm Springs: A Community United has been set up. This community-driven effort will

support our friends and neighbors whose lives and livelihoods have been impacted by this heinous act.

Contributions will directly address critical gaps in coverage, providing essential funding for home

and property repairs. These funds will help restore residences and businesses that suffered damage,

allowing them to regain stability and normalcy. All funds will be paid out by the trusted non-profit

Desert Business Association, established in 1979 (EIN# 33-0120933), with Greater Palm Springs Pride

serving as the 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor (EIN#33-0745940). A rigorous procedure is in place to make

TRUMP’S ANTI-DEMOCRACY

CAMPAIGN EXPOSED - FIVE ARTISTS

INTERPRETATIONS

Everyone with any intellectual ability to think is

aware that Donald Trump is unfit to be president.

He is after all a convicted criminal, an indicted

rapist, insurrectionist, falsifier of business

records, tax fraud, and attempting to overthrow

an election. These are just a few of the criminal

activities that Trump has been involved in.

Even with all of this information available,

low-information individuals and indoctrinated

cultists voted for him. We now have him and

individuals who support him as appointed

government officials and nonemployees of

the government, such as Elon Musk, who are

attempting to eradicate functioning government

agencies and democracy itself.

Large and growing protests are emerging

throughout the country supporting illegally laid

off government employees, criticizing

cowardly elected officials for ignoring their

duties, and angry people who object to having

their subsidence demolished.

Demonstrating Trump’s misogynism.

as Trump sees the world described by the artist

as a “racist Uncle”, with the “mentality of a rural

Artists are also joining the protest crowd,

showing their defiance with their creations.

hundreds who demonstrate their disdain for

Trump and his barbaric actions, showing unique

formations of Trump’s actions.

The current administration has made

significant changes to consumer protection

policies, including rolling back regulations

and restructuring key agencies.

(Some notable actions include)

CFPB Enforcement Limitations – The

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)

has rescinded 67 guidance documents, limiting

state enforcement of federal consumer laws.

Consumer Product Safety Commission

(CPSC) Firings – The administration fired three

commissioners from the Consumer Product

Safety Commission, raising concerns about

weakened oversight of product safety standards.

CFPB Budget Cuts & Downsizing – The

administration has cut nearly 90% of CFPB

staff, reducing its ability to monitor financial

institutions and enforce consumer protections.

Elimination of CPSC as an Independent Agency

– Plans are underway to absorb the CPSC into

the Department of Health and Human Services,

potentially reducing its ability to independently

regulate consumer product safety

Shady debt settlement and other scams prey

on individuals struggling with financial burdens,

often disguising themselves as legitimate debt

relief companies. These fraudulent entities

promise to negotiate with creditors to reduce or

eliminate debt, sometimes even claiming they

can remove negative credit report information.

However, they typically demand upfront fees,

payment. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

prohibits upfront fees for debt settlement,

making such offers inherently suspicious.

Scammers exploit vulnerable individuals who

are overwhelmed by financial stress, leading

them to make poor decisions under pressure.

Victims often realize too late that their payments

have not resulted in any actual debt reduction.

Many fraudulent companies disappear, stop

returning calls, or fail to provide any tangible

results. To avoid falling victim, consumers

should look for warning signs, such as:

Guarantees of debt elimination

Requests for large upfront payments

Lack of transparency about fees and services

Encouragement to stop paying creditors

Legitimate debt relief companies operate under

reputable sources before engaging in any debt

FIVE YEARS A

George Floyd protests across Central Jersey: June 2-8

Have Brands

Kept Their DEI

Promises?

In the wake of George Floyd’s

death in 2020, brands across

industries pledged to advance

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

(DEI) in meaningful ways. Corporate

leaders vowed to make

lasting changes—investing in

Black-owned businesses, diversifying

their workforces, and

reevaluating hiring practices.

But five years later, how many

of those promises have translated

into real progress?

Some brands, like Target and

Starbucks, made bold commitments,

but implementation has

varied. While some companies

have embedded DEI into their

long-term strategies, others

have scaled back their efforts

due to economic downturns

and shifting public sentiment.

Experts argue that DEI initiatives

must go beyond surface-level

changes. Diversity

hiring alone is not enough—it

needs to be accompanied by

inclusive leadership, pay equity,

and long-term career growth

for underrepresented employees.

Additionally, consumer

expectations continue to evolve,

and customers are increasingly

scrutinizing whether brands

truly stand by their values or

merely use DEI as a marketing

tactic.

One challenge companies face

is maintaining momentum

amid political debates. Some

DEI efforts have been met with

backlash, prompting businesses

to reassess their approaches to

racial equity in the workplace.

However, those committed to

change recognize that inclusion

leads to stronger teams,

better innovation, and a more

At the same time President

Donald Trump has taken

significant steps to dismantle

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

(DEI) initiatives across various

sectors. His administration has

issued executive orders aimed

at eliminating DEI programs in

federal agencies, private businesses,

and educational institutions.

One of the most notable impacts

has been on federal funding.

The administration threatened

to withhold money from

schools that maintained DEI

and national injunctions blocking

the move. Additionally,

nonprofits that rely on federal

In the corporate world, some

companies, like Target, have

My road less traveled by

A career rooted in

Storytelling and

community

My career as a producer

and storyteller has woven

through technology,

entertainment, and

advocacy, shaping

narratives that inform,

entertain, and uplift

communities while staying

true to the core values of

unity and justice.

One of my earliest ventures

involved crafting narratives

around the ethical use

of living organisms in

laboratory information

management systems. Not

only did I conceptualize

these stories, but I also

wrote the code that brought

them to life. This fusion of

creativity and technology

laid the foundation for the

diverse roles I would later

embrace.

My passion for

community-driven

productions truly flourished

on both coasts. In Palm

Springs, I co-produced

the annual Queen of the

Desert contests—a charity

event that evolved into a

local staple. These were

hands-on productions: from

setting up tables, selling

raffle tickets, breaking

down sets, ensuring

entertainers were paid—all

while donating proceeds

to organizations like the

Desert AIDS Project

(DAP). It was an era of

“boots on the ground,” and

every effort was worth it,

knowing our work directly

impacted the community.

In Las Vegas, I channeled

my creative energy into

Meet the DDG, a platform

for local Democrats to

gather, register, and share

key information. Later, I

produced a weekly radio

show and variety show

featuring a dynamic

drag cast alongside

special guests, including

counterculture legend

Hippy Paul Krasner. These

events carried a dual

mission—to entertain and

inform—bridging the gap

between the “haves” and

“have-nots.”

I saw my role as akin to

a court jester, delivering

truths through humor while

fostering connection.

One lesson from my

father has remained

central throughout my

journey: “Never divide and

conquer, for its only path

is oppression.” This ethos

has shaped my approach,

ensuring that every

production I create aims to

unite people through shared

stories and experiences.

Now, as I look back on

my career and present my

“unproduced last show,” I

celebrate the legacy of creativity,

connection, and community

impact that has defined my

work.

Here are some more thoughts

that capture the essence of

duality:

“There can be no shadow

without light.” – Suggesting

that opposing forces define

each other.

“Everything has its opposite.”

– A simple way to acknowledge

contrast.

“We are fire and ice in the

same breath.” – A poetic way to

describe inner contradictions.

“Balance is found between

extremes.” – Emphasizing the

harmony between opposites.

“Truth and illusion dance

together.” – Exploring

perception and reality.

“The heart and mind walk

different paths.” – A reflection

on logic vs. emotion.

Each of these touches on the

idea that opposites coexist in

life, shaping our understanding

of the world.

Salt Water is a haunting and evocative drama that

follows Jacobo (strikingly played by Luis Mario

Jiménez) as he reconnects with José Luis, a Catholic

priest who sexually abused him as a child. Available

on major digital platforms beginning June 24.

Throuple is a refreshingly honest film about the

complicated gray areas between friendship and

romance. Michael, a lonely singer, unexpectedly

becomes romantically entangled with a married couple

and is forced to reevaluate the kind of relationship he

desires. Available on Amazon, iTunes, InDemand,

Google, and Dekkoo on June 6.

5. The last artist featured is an unnamed local

artist displaying a large watercolor featuring a

montage of Trump’s recent criminal

activities with Trump and his vice president

the January 6 insurrection on the left and lower

Boys and Stewart Rhodes, head of the Oath

Keepers. They are shown along with characters

of the insurrection breaking windows in the

Capital and fighting with the Capital police with

barricades. A SpaceX rocket is exploding in the

center top, and images of wind turbines and solar

panels below Musk’s salute, refute the reality

of the need for alternative energy. At the same

time, a Tesla Syber truck loses its trim and it is

it will take everyone’s awareness and activism

to see it continue.

WHAT GRINDS MY GEARS!

At the time of this writing.

Several states have enacted laws restricting

discussions of gender identity in schools,

limiting access to gender-affirming healthcare,

or removing legal protections for transgender

individuals. For example:

Iowa recently passed a law banning K-6

education on gender identity and sexual

orientation, though a judge ruled that voluntary

student activities related to these topics must still

be allowed.

Maine lawmakers are considering removing

“gender identity” from the Maine Human

Rights Act, which could impact protections for

transgender individuals.

Other states have introduced bills restricting

transgender athletes from competing in sports

that align with their gender identity and limiting

access to gender-affirming medical care

Restricting gender identity discussions and rights

can lead to negative consequences, both legally

and socially. Critics of such policies argue

that they violate human rights, limit personal

freedoms, and contribute to discrimination. Here

are a few key points:

Why Restrictions on Gender Identity Are

Controversial

Human Rights Concerns – Many organizations,

including the United Nations and American

Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), argue that

gender identity is a fundamental part of personal

autonomy. Policies restricting it can be seen as

government overreach into personal lives.

Mental Health Impacts – Studies show that

acceptance and affirmation of gender identity

lead to better mental health outcomes, while

restrictions increase stress, anxiety, and

depression, particularly among transgender

individuals.

Legal Challenges – Several laws limiting gender

identity rights have faced legal challenges, with

courts ruling in favor of equal protections under

the Constitution.

Scientific Consensus – Major health

organizations, including the American Medical

Association and American Psychiatric

Association, support gender-affirming care,

arguing that restrictive policies ignore medical

science.

Economic & Social Backlash – Some states

that enacted gender identity restrictions have

faced boycotts, corporate pushback, and public

protests, showing widespread disagreement with

these policies.

Gender identity is deeply personal and varies

widely across cultures and individuals. Here are

some common gender identities:

Cisgender – A person whose gender matches

their sex assigned at birth.

Transgender – A person whose gender is

different from their assigned sex at birth.

Nonbinary – A person who doesn’t strictly

identify as male or female.

25

Genderfluid – Someone whose gender shifts over

time.

Agender – A person who does not identify with

any gender.

Bigender – Someone who identifies with two

genders, either simultaneously or at different

times.

Demiboy/Demigirl – A person who partially, but

not fully, identifies as male or female.

Two-Spirit – A term used by some Indigenous

cultures to describe people with both masculine

and feminine qualities.

Neutrois – A person who seeks to minimize or

remove gendered traits.

Androgyne – Someone who expresses a blend of

masculine and feminine traits.

Trans Boy: A trans boy is an individual who was

typically assigned female at birth but whose

gender identity is male. That means this young

person—or adult, depending on their stage in

life—genuinely experiences and identifies as a

boy, even though their birth-assigned sex did not

align with that identity. Using the term “trans

boy” is a way of validating and respecting the

self-identified gender of someone who lives

authentically as male.

Trans Girl: Similarly, a trans girl is a person

who was typically assigned male at birth but

identifies as female. This label acknowledges

that, despite the sex designated at birth, the

person’s internal sense of gender is that of a girl

or woman. It is an important marker of identity,

and using it is both compassionate and affirming

of how they see themselves.

These definitions remind us that gender identity

isn’t simply about the body one is born with;

it’s about an inner, deeply felt sense of self.

Recognizing and honoring the terms that

individuals choose to describe themselves

DID YOU KNOW?

Sneaky Pete?

Former President Donald Trump has introduced a self-deportation program offering

$1,000 and a paid plane ticket to undocumented immigrants who voluntarily leave the

U.S. The initiative, implemented via executive order, uses the CBP Home app to track

departures. Those who accept the offer will be deprioritized for arrest, while those who

refuse face detention, fines, and property forfeiture.

Dupe and scoop

Migrants who show up for

their scheduled hearings have

reportedly been told their

cases are dismissed, only to

be detained by ICE agents

waiting outside the courtroom.

The expedited removal

process allows officials to

deport individuals without

a court hearing if they meet

certain conditions, such as

lacking proper documentation

or being in the U.S. for

less than two years.

This approach has raised

concerns among immigration

advocates, who argue that it

undermines due proces!

There have been reports

of Venezuelan nationals

being forcibly disappeared

after deportation. In March

2025, the U.S. government

deported 238 Venezuelans

to El Salvador, where

they were immediately

transferred to a maximumsecurity

prison known for

its harsh conditions. Since

then, they have been held

incommunicado, with no

official list of detainees

released.

Additionally, immigration

courts in the U.S. have

been dismissing cases

of deported individuals,

potentially cutting off their

legal avenues for return.

Inside El Salvador’s new ‘mega prison’

Some legal experts argue that

this is part of a broader effort

to erase their presence from the

American legal system.

These actions have raised

serious human rights concerns,

with advocates calling for

transparency and due process

Negative

consequences

collateral

damage

Meanwhile, ICE has also conducted

large-scale raids targeting

individuals with criminal backgrounds.

For instance:

In Florida, over 100 people were

detained in one of the state’s

largest immigration raids. ICE

stated that some of those arrested

had criminal records or had been

previously deported.

Recent reports indicate that

ICE raids have been targeting

both asylum seekers

and individuals with criminal

records. In some cases,

asylum seekers attending

their scheduled immigration

hearings have been detained

immediately after their cases

were dismissed2.

In New York City, Congressman

Dan Goldman confronted

ICE agents who were

arresting asylum seekers at

routine court appearances.

He stated that none of the individuals

detained were criminals.

In San Francisco, four asylum

seekers were arrested at the

immigration courthouse, despite

having pending asylum applications.

Immigration attorneys have

called these arrests unconstitutional

and unprecedented.

In Las Vegas, six asylum seekers

were detained at their hearings.

Legal experts argue that these

detentions violate due process

and could discourage others from

attending court.

In Massachusetts, ICE arrested 40

individuals, including a documented

MS-13 gang member and

a child sex offender.

These actions have sparked

concerns among immigration

advocates, who argue that detaining

asylum seekers undermines

the legal process and may force

migrants to go underground rather

than follow legal procedure.

In Denver, a man suspected of

attempted murder was released

because ICE had deported the

witnesses against him, forcing

prosecutors to drop the charges

In Boston, a judge had to dismiss

charges against a suspect because

ICE detained him mid-trial

and refused to return him to

court

Some legal experts fear that

deported criminals may return to

the U.S. illegally, avoiding prosecution

and committing more

crimes

their credit score.

More Fraud Risks!

Risk of Lawsuits – Creditors are not obligated

to accept settlement offers, meaning clients could

still face legal action.

High Fees – The company charges 25% of the

enrolled debt, which can be costly.

Long Process – Debt settlement can take 24 to

48 months, and results vary.

Legitimacy

National Debt Relief is legally registered and has

helped many people reduce their debt. However,

some former clients feel misled about the risks

involved. If you’re considering debt settlement,

it’s wise to explore nonprofit credit counseling as

an alternative.

Older adults are often targeted by scammers

due to their financial stability and trusting nature.

Scammers use phone calls, emails, and even

in-person visits to deceive older adults. Here are

some common scams that impact seniors:

Grandparent Scam – Scammers pose as a

grandchild in distress, claiming they need money

for an emergency like bail or medical expenses.

Tech Support Scam – Fraudsters trick seniors

into believing their computer has a virus, then

charge them for fake repairs.

Government Impersonation Scam – Scammers

pretend to be IRS or Social Security officials,

demanding payment for fake debts.

Investment & Cryptocurrency Scams –

Seniors are lured into fraudulent investment

opportunities, often losing large sums of money.

Home Improvement Scams – Fake contractors

offer repairs, take upfront payments, and

disappear without completing the work.

Medicare Fraud – Scammers offer “free”

medical equipment, then bill Medicare for

unnecessary services.

Sweepstakes & Lottery Scams – Victims are

told they won a prize but must pay fees to claim

it.

Scammers often target the LGBTQ+ community

through various deceptive schemes. Here are

some common scams to watch out for:

Sextortion Scams – Fraudsters pose as potential

partners on LGBTQ+ dating apps, exchanging

explicit photos and then threatening to expose

victims unless they pay money.

Fake Romance Scams – Scammers build trust

through online dating platforms, then ask for

financial help, often claiming emergencies or

travel expenses.

Online Harassment & Blackmail – Some

scammers exploit LGBTQ+ individuals who are

not publicly out, using threats to reveal personal

information unless they comply with demands.

Phishing & Identity Theft Investment &

Cryptocurrency Scams– Fake LGBTQ+

support groups or giveaways trick users into

sharing personal details, which are then used for

fraud.

Cheap Shots

What is the difference between Washington,

Nixon and Trump 1?

George Washington couldn’t tell a lie.

Richard Nixon couldn’t tell the truth.

Donald Trump can’t tell the difference

Trump ends up in hell...

Trump dies from the virus. He goes to Hell

where the Devil is waiting for him.

“I don’t know what to do,” says the Devil.

“You’re on my list but I have no room for you.

But you definitely have to stay here, so I’ll tell

you what I’m going to do. I’ve got three people

here who weren’t quite as bad as you. I’ll let one

of them go, but you have to take their place. I’ll

even let YOU decide who leaves.”

Trump thought that sounded pretty good so he

agreed.

The devil opened the first room. In it was

Richard Nixon and a large pool of water. He

kept diving in, swimming to the bottom and then

resurfacing, over and over and over, such was his

fate in Hell.

“No!” said Trump. “I don’t think so. I’m not a

good swimmer and I don’t think I could do that

all day long.”

The Devil led him to the next room. In it was

Tony Blair with a sledgehammer and a room full

of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time

after time after time.

“No! I’ve got this problem with my shoulder. I

would be in constant agony if all I could do was

break rocks all day!” commented Trump.

The Devil opened a third door. In it, Trump saw

Bill Clinton lying naked on the floor, with his

arms staked over his head, and his legs staked in

spread-eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica

Lewinsky... doing what she does best.

finally said, “Yeah, I can handle this!”

The Devil smiled and said, “Monica, you’re free

to go!”

Who’s the Trump fan?

A teacher asked his class how many of them

were Trump fans.

Not quite knowing what a Trump fan is, but

wanting to be loved by the teacher, all of the kids

raised their hands, except Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why did you

decide to be different... again.

Little Johnny said, “Because I’m not a Trump

fan.”

“Why aren’t you a Trump fan?”

Johnny said, “Because I’m a Democrat.”

The teacher asked him why he is a Democrat.

Little Johnny replied, “Well my mom is a

Democrat and my dad is a Democrat, so I’m a

Democrat.”

The teacher, annoyed by this answer, asked him,

“If your mother was an idiot and your father a

jerk, what would that make you?”

Little Johnny replied, “A Trump fan.”

The federal government defines a “reasonable distance” as 100 air miles from any external boundary

of the U.S. So, combining this federal regulation and the federal law regarding warrantless vehicle

searches, CBP claims authority to board a bus or train without a warrant anywhere within this

100-mile zone. Two-thirds of the U.S. population, or about 200 million people, reside within this

expanded border region, according to the 2010 census. Most of the 10 largest cities in the U.S.,

such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago, fall in this region. Some states, like Florida, lie

entirely within this border band so their entire populations are impacted.

Federal law says that, without a warrant, CBP can board vehicles and vessels

and search for people without immigration documentation “within a reasonable

distance from any external boundary of the United States.”

Helping immigrants facing

mass deportation requires a

multi-faceted approach. Here

are some steps you can take:

Legal Assistance: Support organizations

that provide legal aid to immigrants. Many

immigrants facing deportation do not have the

right to a publicly funded attorney, so donating to

or volunteering with legal aid organizations can

make a significant difference.

Community Support: Engage with local immigrant

advocacy groups. These organizations often

provide resources and support to immigrants,

including legal advice, housing assistance, and

emotional support.

Raise Awareness: Use social media and other

platforms to raise awareness about the issues

immigrants face. Sharing stories and information

can help garner public support and put pressure

on policymakers to protect immigrant rights.

Political Action: Advocate for policies that protect

immigrants. Contact your local representatives

and urge them to support legislation that provides

protections for immigrants and opposes mass

deportation efforts.

Emergency Preparedness: Help immigrants

prepare for potential deportation by ensuring they

have legal documents in order, such as custody

arrangements for children and important personal

documents readily accessible.

Support Networks: Create or join support

networks that can provide immediate assistance

to immigrants in crisis. This can include offering

temporary housing, transportation, or financial

support.
