Hello everyone,
From the Principal’s Desk
After a long gap of two years due to the pandemic, I am happy to see the release of the magazine.
Though we kept up with the digital form, the hard copy has its own charm. The feel of the book adds
to the joy of reading.
I congratulate the entire team of teachers and students of the Magazine Committee in bringing out this
beautiful bundle of creativity on the very thoughtful theme ‘Humanity in the Digital World’.
Perhaps the lesson we are learning today is this: what makes us uniquely human is not our mental
superiority, but our ability to adapt to every new circumstance that comes our way. We can’t possibly
predict what changes lie beyond the horizon. Just as generations before us could not have predicted
the technology-enhanced lives we live today, it is impossible for us to predict how we as a society will
organize ourselves in the future, technologically, economically, or culturally. Yet as technology
continues to advance and morph by the minute, what we do know is that change is the only constant,
and our ability to adapt to it is the only solution. The technological innovations that will change our
world, over the next year, the next decade, and the next century will not threaten our ability to excel,
but instead will open the door to a new way of living. This is the need of the hour, as Darwin states-
‘survival of the fittest’.
However, there can be no the replacement for humanity. Human relations, communication,
belongingness, unity and harmony keep mankind going. We need to understand, preserve, promote,
and protect the oneness within the fellow beings and other members of nature. We need constant
introspection to realize that the benefits of digitalization are not at the cost Mother nature.
Digitalization can never replace this bonding and interdependency.
Humanity thrives with the practice of the four Cs. Without ‘Curiosity’ there can be no scientific
development. Without ‘Creativity’ technology cannot immerge. Without ‘Competition’ society cannot
progress but if there is no ‘Compassion’ everything is meaningless.
Two decades of digital innovations have transformed our societies. The human impact of this
transformation can be felt in the enhanced connectivity between people. Higher inclusiveness with
wider access to public services has proved digital technology to be a great equalizer. We believe that
technology and humanity should go hand in hand.
I wish education serves towards its main purpose of the holistic development of society. It should
enhance the synergy between the technological advances with a strong base of foundation of values.
Many best wishes and regards,
Dr Manali Londhe
