THE UN-OFFICIAL CANON PROJECTRAMPAGE
RAMPAGEAll Marvel characters, their likenesses, and MARVELSUPER HEROES are trademarks of the MarvelComics Group. 1985 Marvel Comics Group, a divisionof Cadence Industries. All Hights Reserved.By Roger E. Moore and re-edited by Louis DanhoffA number of members have written to complainabout the lack of articles on the MARVEL SUPERHEROES Game in the Polyhedron Newszine Issue25, and some of their letters were published in thelast issue. Never one to let a challenge gounanswered, Roger Moore wrote another MSHencounter, which was approved by Marvel ComicsGroup for publication. HQ shamelessly stole thescenario and used it for tournaments at Glathriconand at Origins, where it was well-received, and nowwe present “Rampage” for your enjoyment. (Now howabout a few articles from the rest of the MSH fans?We can’t let Roger have all the glory. . . .)It seems to me that the most difficult thing about theMARVEL SUPER HEROES Game is designing ascenario that will challenge the most powerful heroes, such as Thor, the Hulk, or Hercules. After all,to send someone like Thor against ordinary criminals(or even most extraordinary ones) would be nothingmore than an exercise in overkill. Characters likeThor tend to unbalance most scenarios, which isprobably why the rules and modules frequentlysuggest that such powerful characters be used onlyas NPCs.On the other hand, it should be possible to give theplayers who are fond of brawny characters a run fortheir money. DRAGON® Magazine (Issue #88) gaveThor some bad-guy competition in the form of the evilLoki and Ulik. Certainly something can becooked up for poor little Hulk and Hercules, too.Rampaging charactersThis scenario is designed for four players. Two willplay villains, one will play a hero, and one will play a“sometimes hero” (the Hulk, of course). The refereecan control other minor characters, such as crowds, police, and National Guardsmen. The referee mayalso wish to add other minor Marvel Super Heroesor Marvel Super Villains to the conflict.Complete character sheets for all four charactershave been printed on the back mailer cover, whichmay be detached for convenience.Referee’s InformationThings would have worked out very differently if MaryMacPherran (Titania), hiding out in her Denverapartment and feeling particularly depressed andupset over a number of personal problems, hadnot flipped on her television set. The first show shesaw was a live interview from New York withHercules. The mighty Avenger was discussing hisrole as a hero and was happily elaborating on someof his past exploits.Hercules was his usual charming, muscle flexing, storytelling self. He easily stole the show from thecommentator, along with the hearts of many womenin the TV audience. Of course, the show had theopposite effect on Titania, who became progressivelyangrier and more embittered as Hercules bragged onhis conquests and displayed his awesomemusculature. Focusing her rage on Hercules, Titaniapounded her TV set into atoms, dug her costume outof her closet, and picked up a one-way bus ticketto New York City.1
