Fiumicino, Ostia, Fregene, Anzio, Santa Severa and Santa Marinella
await you, your short sleeves and your sunglasses. The time for seafood
(and much more!) is officially here. Here you have a list of the best

\ ANZIO
Da Alceste
Piazzale Sant’Antonio, 6 - Anzio
06.9846744
Da Alceste is a historical fish restaurant in
Anzio, a point of reference for seafood cuisine
and the portodanzese tradition. Alceste and
Giuseppe’s children, Gino and Maria Elena
Regolanti, keep the family tradition alive with
historical dishes with a modern touch. Among
the first courses, you’ll find big classics
like spaghetti with clams or with anchovies
and pecorino as well as main courses with
a vintage taste like pesce all’acqua pazza,
fresh fish, cooked in a flavorful broth, or
guazzetto di pesce, a wholesome fish stew.
The beautiful terrace is worth a mention.
Da Romolo al porto
Via Porto Innocenziano, 19 - Anzio
06.9844079
Among the most well-known restaurants in
Anzio, Walter Regolanti’s Romolo al Porto
certainly deserves a shoutout. With about
100 seats between the indoor room and
the porch, Walter offers a daily cuisine that
bets everything on the local produce: fish,
crustaceans, shellfish in an infinite variety
of hours d’oeuvres, culminating in a pasta
dish that feels like dessert. Their winery
is also excellent, full of bubbles, not to be
underestimated.

in various tasting menus. The food-wine
combination is not to be missed.
4112 (QuarantunoDodici)
Via Monte Cadria, 127 - Fiumicino

Lele Usai maneuvers between Michelin stars

Nautilus Marina in Fiumicino, there is his
bistrot QuarantunoDodici, while the first floor
hosts his Michelin-starred Il Tino. In a wide
and well-lit space extending outdoors, you
will taste a direct sea cuisine that changes
every day. The menu includes crudités and
spaghetti con telline, but also more fusion
choices like Thai clams sauté and smoked
mackerel with misticanza, boiled egg and
mayonnaise. Another great dish is the pink
shrimp cream risotto and the fried paranza
“when the sea allows.” The wine selection is

DOLCE & GABBANA: THE “GRAND TOUR” ARRIVES IN ROME FOR THE FIRST TIME
Dolce & Gabbana:
The “Grand Tour” Arrives in Rome
for the First Time
- On July 13, the High Jewelry collection will be
unveiled in the evocative setting of Villa Adriana
in Tivoli, specifically inside the Maritime Theatre,
drawing inspiration from the era of Emperor
Hadrian.
- On July 14, the spotlight will shift to Alta Moda
(high fashion), showcased among the ancient ruins
of the Roman Forum.
- Then, on July 15, the Alta Sartoria (high
tailoring) show will unfold on the bridge of Castel
Sant’Angelo.
- The grand finale will take place on July 16 in a
yet-to-be-revealed secret location (Cinecittà?).
The exhibition on Via Veneto will be open to the
public, bringing haute couture into the daily rhythm
of Roman life.
It was officially announced that Dolce &
Gabbana’s iconic “Grand Tour” will arrive in
Rome from July 12 to 16. After enchanting
cities like Taormina, Venice, Naples, Como,
Syracuse, Alberobello, and Nora, the fashion
house is bringing its celebration of Italian
beauty and culture to the Eternal City for the
first time.
"
The heart of the initiative — a tribute to
Fellini’s Rome — will be Via Veneto, the
stage for the opening event on July 12 and
the site of a special photography exhibition.
The exhibit will feature never-before-seen
paparazzi shots capturing life on the iconic
street during the 1950s and 1960s.
“Rome is a special place for us — a symbol of our love for Italy and an endless
source of inspiration. We are deeply moved at the thought of presenting
our collections here, in a setting that is truly one of a kind. This event is the
realization of a dream,”
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, founders
and designers of Dolce&Gabbana.
"
"
It is an honor to welcome Dolce&Gabbana’s Grand Tour to Rome — a testament
to the work done to bring the Capital back to the center of the international
stage. It is a source of pride to share our millennia-old history with
an Italian excellence like Dolce&Gabbana, while also enhancing our cultural
heritage through craftsmanship and fashion
Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome.
The Exhibition at Palazzo delle Esposizioni
From May 14 to August 13, the exhibition “From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce & Gabbana”
is on view at Palazzo delle Esposizioni. Curated by Florence Müller, the show is coming
off successful runs at Milan’s Palazzo Reale and the Grand Palais in Paris. More than 200
creations are on display, tracing the creative journey of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana,
including cinematic narratives of the maison and a behind-the-scenes look at their tailoring
process — revealing the craftsmanship behind their iconic jackets and corsets.

THE BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN TUSCIA
Vitorchiano
A piece of Rome in the heart of Tuscia, Vitorchiano is
a charming village that has been closely connected to
the Eternal City for almost eight centuries. Its strategic
location led to disputes between Viterbo and Rome in
the 13th century, which were resolved when the village
swore loyalty to Rome. Today, Vitorchiano offers a
glimpse into the past with its medieval walls, beautiful
Fountain of Fuso and stunning 16th-century Town Hall.

Unveiling Hidden Treasures of Archaeology, Nature,
and Charm in the Enchanting Tuscia Area
Tuscia is a stunning region, filled with
hidden archaeological, cultural and natural
treasures. It spans over the province of
Viterbo and all of upper Lazio, as well as
parts of Umbria and Tuscany.
In ancient times, it was the land of the
Etruscans, and their presence can still be
seen scattered throughout the region’s
archaeological artifacts and sites . The
area was also historically an important
crossroads, being close to Rome and to
the sea, and saw many princes, artists,
noblemen and kings pass through, who left
personal traces and authentic masterpieces
p

behind. Finally, the Middle Ages saw an
expansion of a number of enchanting
medieval villages and towns in the area
where time seems to have frozen.
For those who are interested in nature
and both dynamic and leisurely activities,
the area is a wonderful place to visit, with
numerous lakes and natural parks, as well as
spas and natural thermal water pools where
one can regenerate and relax.
We’ve put together a list of the best things to
do during a weekend or day-trip in Tuscia.
Civita di Bagnoregio
Civita di Bagnoregio is a very small village on an
isolated hill, only reachable by foot, which makes it all
the more special. Its red tuff houses, narrow streets
and flower-adorned balconies create a romantic
atmosphere. Both looking inwards and outwards, the
village offers fantastic views; on one side, the stunning
cliffs and panoramic view of the valley, and on the
other a glimpse into medieval times, colours and
architectural forms. .
Caprarola
Nestled between woods and hazelnut groves
is Caprarola, a little village perched on a rocky
promontory and shadowed by the majestic Palazzo
Farnese, a fortress built in the 15th century with great
architectural and historical significance. Other than
the palace, two sites that are definitely worth visiting
are the church of Santa Teresa and the vibrant, green
natural reserve surrounding the Caprarola, part of the
Cimini mountains.

Calcata
Calcata is arguably one of the most unique
villages in the whole of Italy; an enchanted
and witchy place, perched on a tufted cliff
overlooking the forests of Treja Park. In
the 1930s, Calcata was abandoned but
later rediscovered and repopulated by a
community of international artists who
made it their home and workplace, lining
its narrow winding streets and picturesque
old stone houses with art shops and
ateliers. In addition to its magical
atmosphere, Calcata is worth a visit for the
Baronial Palace of the Anguillara family
and functions as a starting point for trails
into the Treja Valley Regional Park.
Viterbo
Though not much of a village, but more
of a little city, Viterbo is definitely worth
a visit. It has ancient origins, so much so
that its name is believed to be derived
from the Latin Vetus Urbs, meaning
Old Town. Its forms are medieval, with
wonderful buildings that are still well
preserved and almost entirely intact. For
a real dive into the past, you cannot miss
the area of San Pellegrino; however, even
just strolling casually around town will
take you to beautiful old churches, towers
and historical residences. An important
historical fact about Viterbo is that from
1257 to 1281 it was the city of Popes,
due to its strategic position near Rome.
The city is also famous for the University
of Tuscia and its thermal baths, to which
we’ll turn next.

Parco dei Mostri

In the town of Bomarzo, you’ll find the extraordinary
Parco dei Mostri, a garden adorned with eccentric and
larger-than-life sculptures. This whimsical masterpiece,
designed in the 16th century, showcases mythical
creatures, intricate statues and surreal architectural
elements. Created at the request of Pier Francesco
Orsini, known as Vicino, the Park of Monsters holds
the distinction of being the oldest sculpture park in the
modern world. As you explore, you’ll encounter an orc,
a lion, a fury, and further along, a dragon, a Cerberus,
a giant turtle, and a multitude of other animals,
mythological figures, fountains, and architecturally
unique structures. These distinctive elements combine
to create an awe-inspiring and truly remarkable park.

Il Marchese unites the best of two worlds: a bar with
elegant French salon accents and pompous chandeliers,
and a restaurant with the coziness of a Roman trattoria.
But it’s not just the décor that’s impressive. When you
walk into Il Marchese you step inside Europe’s first Amaro
bar with more than 500 different Amaro labels.
During the recent G20 in Rome, Il Marchese had two
special customers: the American First Lady Jill Biden
and the French Première Dame Brigitte Macron. The two
ladies said they were “delighted with the lovely welcome”,
complimenting the staff and the quality of the products.
ll Marchese takes its name from the Marchese del Grillo,
a symbol of Rome’s inimitable spirit– a true gentleman,
but always inclined to irony, a lover of tradition, but also
appreciated by those who come from different cultures.
Here, with Chef Daniele Roppo, you’re sure to have a
fantastic dining experience. The culinary philosophy has strong Roman roots and is inspired
by traditional recipes that are lightened according to a contemporary taste, also offering
vegetarian dishes. Quality is always a priority. Ingredients are purchased from local producers.
The amaro and cocktail bar at Il Marchese pays tribute to the elegance of 19th-century
French aristocracy, with precious stuccoes, wallpapers, and velvets. The cocktails here are
perfect for an after-dinner drink or as an aperitif. Each signature drink is crafted with premium
ingredients expertly mixed. Leading the cocktail bar is Fabrizio Valeriani, a bartender with
extensive experience.

In front of Rome’s Palatine Hill and inside 400 years
of history lies Unique al Palatino Garden Restaurant
– the lush outdoor restaurant of the four-star Kolbe
Hotel Rome. Originally a monastery, the building was
transformed into a hotel and restaurant in 2007.
Since then, Unique al Palatino Garden Restaurant has
become one of our favorite spots for enjoying an al
fresco dinner in the heart of Rome.
The area has recently gained even more beauty and
tranquility thanks to the construction of a new sidewalk
along Via di San Teodoro, perfect for an evening stroll
around the Colosseum archaeological park after dinner.
Step into this garden restaurant, where blooming
flowers, centuries-old olive trees, and fragrant
citrus create a dreamlike escape. Unique al Palatino
Garden Restaurant offers traditional Italian cuisine
with a contemporary twist using innovative cooking
techniques. Ingredients are fresh and the produce is exclusively Italian for an emotional
experience around the Italian territory. We especially love their seafood offerings. As a starter,
we tried and adored their tuna tartare with avocado. For the first course, their delicate sea
bass ravioli with prawns, asparagus tips, and lemon zest is a must-try. And as a second
course, who could resist their frittura: delicious fried prawns and shrimp, still incredibly
delicate. There are also tasty options for vegetarians. The superb wine list and the excellent

In the heart of Torrevecchia, a historic and authentic
Roman neighborhood, Isotta | Trattoria Cortese has
recently opened its doors, a Roman trattoria with a
modern touch and the old-school charm of true courtesy.
Isotta was born from the vision of two partners and
friends: Michelin-starred chef Davide Puleio, already
owner of the renowned Pulejo Ristorante on Via dei
Gracchi, and Matteo D’Anzi, a hospitality expert and
designer of high-end gastronomic spaces.
The name “Isotta” is a tribute to Matteo D’Anzi’s
grandmother — a symbol of home, warmth, and family.
This emotional connection is reflected in the entire
concept of the restaurant: a place where tradition finds
its contemporary space, and timeless elegance meets
modern simplicity, inspired by the 1960s and 70s, with a focus on design and modern
culinary techniques.
The kitchen at Isotta is led by Chef Saverio Pasquali. Signature dishes include homages to
Roman tradition, such as fettuccine with chicken giblets and the iconic savory bignè, as well
as reimagined classics like tomato rice and cannelloni with wild greens.
With extensive experience in restaurant interiors, Matteo D’Anzi personally oversaw the design
of the space. Details like the kitchen’s light blue tiles, traditional marble chip flooring, and
vintage chandeliers create an atmosphere that feels both welcoming and contemporary.
With 40 seats inside and just as many outdoors, the trattoria is ready to welcome families,
young people, and tourists in search of authenticity and conviviality.

Les Etoiles Rooftop Cocktail Bar is the open rooftop terrace
of the Hotel Atlante Star that offers a truly spectacular
panoramic view of Rome encompassing three hundred and
sixty degrees of terracotta rooftops and some of the city’s
most impressive monuments. If you’re looking for a light
lunch or a dinner, an aperitivo or an after dinner cocktail, you
couldn’t find a location more romantic or luxurious.
The view takes in Castel Sant’Angelo, the Vittorio Emanuele
monument, the forested Gianicolo hill, Villa Borghese, the
spidery gazometro, and the best view I’ve ever seen of the
facade and dome of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Relax on couches or under their spacious umbrellas and
enjoy a cocktail alongside an array of delectable finger
foods. Choose from a variety of cooked and raw food,
marinated salmon, yummy club sandwiches, buffalo
mozzarella, hamburgers, rich salads and more, all finished
off with fresh fruit.
The aperitif is served every day between 5pm and 9pm. There is a fixed formula at 45 euros
which includes a drink (cocktail or glass of wine) accompanied by a selection of finger food,
also available for vegans and celiacs.
I suggest going in the evening so you can enjoy the cool breeze above the tumult of the city
below, sip a cocktail and watch the sun’s last rays warm the ancient stones of the eternal city.

After you’ve fallen into enough traps of having to
choose among the plastic containers of swirly heaps of
unnaturally bright colors, Gelato San Lorenzo emerges like
a breath of fresh air.
Apart from the traditional spot in the San Lorenzo
neighborhood, Gelato San Lorenzo is now also available in
several locations across the city, such as Via delle Fornaci,
3 (San Pietro), Piazza Alessandria, 19 (Porta Pia), and
Piazza Vittorio, with its very own kiosk hosted by Gatsby
Cafè. The owners are maintaining an endless flow of ice
cream flavors made in-house everyday with all natural
ingredients. Their main focus is to create a model of pure
gelato, free of the added, unnatural substitutes
that are often used to give gelato its taste, sweetness and
consistency. Every flavor served at Gelato San Lorenzo
is clear of food coloring, unnatural flavors and trans fats.
Natural fibers are used instead to bring out the thick
creaminess that one looks for in a good ice cream and
25% less sugar is added to these already fruit, nut and
honey-sweetened delights. The gelateria is very attentive
to allergies and intolerances. It naturally also offers a few
vegan options. Not up for a cone of gelato? There’s the
stick gelato option you can choose from. They also offer
smoothies, crepes, and organic yogurts.

Every bite becomes a real journey through Italy and the
world, thanks to various gelato flavours and regional
pastries. Cremilla tells us a story of local farmers and food
artisans committed to creating a product where taste and
quality meet naturally. Strategically located almost halfway
between Castel Sant Angelo and San Peter’s Basilica, just
a few meters away from Borgo Pio, this ice cream parlour
is the perfect spot for enjoying truly authentic ice cream
without falling into a “tourist trap”.
Cremilla gives you a chance to taste a deliciously creamy
and fresh ice cream while you are walking in the lively
area around Castel Sant Angelo, visiting the city’s main
hotspots. Besides a great selection of ice cream, Cremilla offers fresh seasonal juices, crepes
– either plain or chocolate, flavoured waffles, pancakes, smoothies, milkshakes and organic
yoghurt.
At Cremilla, you can find the traditional Sicilian cannoli (a crunchy fried wafer filled with
sheep’s ricotta cream) and brioches. Or, to fight the summer heat, a refreshing crunchy
granita can be a great choice. Fruit flavoured gelato is made using more than 50% seasonal
fresh fruit delivered daily, while cream flavoured ones are made only with local organic milk
and eggs. The gelato is mixed continuously in the kitchen lab so that it feels real, swift, and
fresh at every bite. Most products are made on-site daily – there’s even a glass panel on the
floor so that you can see the kitchen in action. Unlike other gelaterie where the seating area
can be quite limited, Cremilla, thanks to an inclusive interior design, invites visitors to take a
seat and enjoy a moment of pure happiness.

to the sun as a source of life, energy and
transformation. The highlight installation,
also titled Solar, is a site-specific immersive
experience designed by internationally
renowned Roman artist, Quayola. In the lineup,
highlights include: the AV live Onirica by fuse*,
Max Cooper’s new show, the audiovisual
performance by Victoria De Angelis, the
return of Caribou, and the Italian debut of the
duo Ascendant Vierge. Also featured are Ela
Minus, Camoufly, and Dardust with Urban
Impressionism.

The title of this year’s edition is “Returns.”
One of the oldest themes in literature, the
“return” — from the Odyssey to the present —
represents both a physical journey and an inner
transformation. The works of the guest writers
will freely explore the theme, embracing the
invitation to help us, through literature, better
interpret and navigate the complexities of our

Villa Medici kicked off the fourth edition of
the Festival des Cabanes, an artistic program
that allows five different groups to showcase
their architectural creations. The festival invites five teams to design and present small-scale
structures, or cabanes, that spark conversation around contemporary architecture, sustainability,
and the intersection of art and nature. The cabanes, constructed from wood, steel, brick, and
even recycled materials, are placed throughout the quadrati, the rectangular garden plots of
Villa Medici. Walking from one cabin to another creates an immersive experience of architecture
and landscape, set against the stunning backdrop of Rome. For those visiting Rome this
summer, Festival des Cabanes offers a refreshing and thought-provoking break from traditional
sightseeing. It’s a chance to see how contemporary creative minds are reimagining space, right
in the heart of one of the city’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

Majestic bronze serpents, opulent black
marmaids and vibrant floating sculpures
have made their way into Galleria Borghese,
bringing innovation and conversing with the
permanent collection’s artworks. From June
10 to September 14, the museum presents a
solo exhibition by Wangechi Mutu, marking the
first time an African artist is featured alongside
the historical masterpieces housed in Cardinal
Scipione’s former esidence.
The exhibition, entitled Black Soil Poems,
includes a combination of site-specific
and works on-loan from other institutions.
Together, all the artworks highlight the natural
transformative power of womenhood and
nature. Mutu’s artistic practise explores both
poetic and mythological aspects of art and
its materic essence. Bronze, wood, feathers,
soil, paper, water and wax are central to the
exhibition’s ethos and can be seen in contrast
with the valuable materials of the permanent

gallery’s works.
Kenyan-American artist Wangechi Mutu brings
a powerful perspective to contemporary issues
through works spread across the museum. At
the entrance, her goddess-like sculptures The
Seated I and IV challenge traditional norms:
independent and unburdened, with elongated
bodies and stylized features adorned like
ceremonial figures.
On the first floor, works like Prayers, Older
Sisters, and Underground Hornship explore
themes of ritual, memory, and spiritual
connection. Older Sisters features two bronze
heads with intricate East African braids,
symbolizing sisterhood and shared knowledge.
Upstairs in the Salone Lanfranco, Suspended
Playtime fills the ceiling with playful spheres
made of plastic bags and string, encouraging
reflection on space, sound, and sustainability.
