When did we decide that building a business alone was

somehow more noble than building it brilliantly?

Somewhere between "hustle culture" and

"solopreneur superhero" mythology, we forgot a

fundamental truth: collaboration isn't a luxury—it's

business oxygen. You can hold your breath for a while,

but eventually, you need to breathe.

The entrepreneurs thriving in 2025 aren't gasping for air,

working 60-hour weeks in isolation. They're breathing

easily because they've built ecosystems of strategic

partnerships. And here's the beautiful part—the strategic

approach isn't some left-brained, 'bro-marketing' thing

that will make you squirm. Women are brilliant and

natural at collaboration.

"Enlightened Collaboration is the most fun you can

have with clothes on."

Yes, I actually said that in a client call last week. No, I'm

not taking it back. As I sit here with my perfectly brewed

morning matcha trail-training smoothie, I can't help but

reflect on something rather profound that emerged from

my cancer recovery journey.

Two years ago, making that fabulous pact with myself

about everything needing to be both brilliant and

enjoyable, I discovered the ultimate plot twist: every icon I

secretly studied—from Coco Chanel to Oprah—built their

empire not through solo grinding, but through

intentional and strategic symbiosis.

The Revolution Will Be Collaborative

Here's what the business world won't tell you about

superlative success: companies promoting collaboration

are five times more likely to be high-performing, with

teamwork increasing sales by 27%.


But here's the Brand Runway difference—we're not talking

about superficial networking or transactional partnerships.

We're talking about intentional symbiosis that elevates

Often includes shared planning, content, and

So Which Is Better?

Honestly? Both are powerful—when used intentionally.

Use affiliate relationships to expand reach passively

and build long-term referral income.

Use JV partnerships when you want to deepen

relationships, co-create visibility, and spark

momentum.

The key is to stay in alignment with your mission and

only partner with those who share your values, integrity,

and audience energy.

Because when collaboration is done consciously—it

becomes a catalyst for exponential, heart-centered

growth.

Start focusing on building the right relationships—the

powerful than ever. Use social proof—such as

can share a screenshot of a testimonial, a

client win, or even a client interview to help

people see that they are getting real results

by working with you.

Stay Positive and Adapt to Change: The world of

online business is constantly evolving, so it's

important to stay adaptable. Keep an eye on

what your customers are asking for, what they

feel their current problem is and the solution

they are asking for, and be willing to pivot your

strategy as needed.

Notice where your paying clients are coming

from. Double down on those strategies and let

go of what’s no longer working.

Continue to bring people into your

ecosystem:

Cultivating an online community and email

marketing are still two of the most effective

ways to connect with your audience, nurture

relationships and enroll clients. I love building

my online community using Facebook groups.

It gives people a central location to land and

feel a part of something bigger than

themselves.

Whether someone meets me in person, on a

podcast, at a summit or at a talk, It allows me

to nurture people with weekly value, connect

intimately in messenger with voice messages

or a welcome video and build connection and

trust that is critical before anyone buys.

You also want to build an email list of

engaged subscribers, and use it to deliver

valuable content, and offers straight to their

inbox. Your email list is the only thing you own

in terms of client information.

And remember, business goes through seasons.

You won’t stay in the harvest season all the time.

There will be time to re-evaluate, plant seeds,

nurture your audience and finally experience

abundance. The ability to adapt is often the

difference between success and failure.

Remember, it will take 6-12 months from the

time someone first comes into your world before

they become a buyer, so be willing to play the

long game.

Never Stop Learning and Growing: Finally,

remember that success in online business is a

journey, not a destination. Keep learning, keep

growing, and keep evolving yourself to a new

capacity.

Invest in your personal and professional

development, whether through books, courses,

conferences, or mentorship. The more you grow,

the more your business will grow with you. I

always have a coach and mentorship to guide

me along the way and a community I can

depend on for inspiration.

Social media platforms own their groups and

can shut down at a moment's notice, so you

want to ensure you consistently grow your

email list. Just ensure you're providing real

value – nobody likes to be sold to all the time.

You are most influenced by the top five people

you spend time with, so be sure to surround

yourself with others who are already successful,

cheer you on, and give you real-world practical

actions rather than just theory.

In the website builder, I use to design my client's

sites, the support team is lightning speed

responsive. Like sitting in the chat, standing by

for you to reach out to them. They usually

respond within an hour. Unbelievable support

service - what a difference it makes to my life

having experienced help on hand 5 inches from

my mouse!

If you respond slowly to prospects' questions and

queries, you are not wowing your customers and

actively losing them.

Speed is relative, of course. A slow response via

chat might still seem super speedy via email.

Analyse your answers' speed for each channel

and set a goal based on where you are currently.

But don't do it to get more results but because

people are wowed by speedy attention.

Even though we're all weary of social media

pressure, it's one of our main marketing

channels, so speed is of the essence to capture

that precious attention.


Glory, this is a tough one in this techie-nuts

time. But since our clients feel as

overwhelmed as we are by the complexity of

things, taking the time to facilitate the

customer journey will allow you to be

exceptional and paid!

Make it easy for both of you.

Make it easy for you (your business model and

customer journey), or you'll grow to hate it.

You'll shine in your genius zone when it's easy

for you. In fact, that's WHY you should spend a

maximum amount of time sharing your genius

because it's easy for you!

Get to know your audience; however, it feels

good to you. Learn about their interests and

what they care about in business. You can

then use that to custom-design their

experience to wow them. Knowing a customer

means knowing their pain points and what

you can recommend to address them. If you

come from a place of service and help them

resolve all of their problem areas in one fell

swoop, you'll earn a customer for life. That's a

Every choice you make daily is broadcasting to

It does not matter if your choices are about

money, business, health, or anything else in your

conversation with Big U, who always agrees with

So, how is it possible that when we make so

many choices, we're actually constantly

I'm sure you know everything is energy, including

money. Everything is connected. But when it

Humans are designed to create. We are designed

to manifest and create. We do that through the

process of choice and consequence.

When we make a choice, it has a corresponding

So you make a choice. The choice of doing has an

underlying frequency. That's the language of the

Universe, the language of money. The Universe

reads the frequency, reads the vibration, says yes,

consequences that match the energy of the

original choice.

So, the consequence you experience from that

choice will also be vibrational. It will be exactly the

same as the original choice and have the same

energy. That is how humans create. This is the

manifesting process, broken down into its most

basic form.

So, humans invented money as a means of

convenience so that we could exchange it for

things we value. And when we spend the money,

we realign the power money to energy.

Most people can grasp this: if you decide that you

want to go and buy a new three-piece suite with

your power money that you have an absolute

choice over, and you say, “I'm going to go spend

this money on a couch. I need a new couch”.

You may be upgrading to a new piece of furniture

because your old couch has become tired, saggy,

and uncomfortable. And you really want to lean

back into a lovely, comfy sofa in the evening and

In that case, the Universe reads the frequency of

because that also represents comfort. So someone will deliver you

comfort. That's how it works.

On the other hand, if you're buying a new couch because you want

a bit of luxury, say a really high-end Chesterfield or something

super chic, you're assigning your value not to comfort but to luxury.

The Universe reads the frequency of luxury, and it says 'yes'—the

same dynamic and different energy.

The choice here is to spend money on the couch. Then, the

Universe reads the frequency, says yes, and drops in a

consequence that matches the original choice.

Still, it doesn't drop ten tons of couches on your driveway. If you

buy a sofa, you don't create more couches. The Universe doesn't

say yes to furniture and then start throwing furniture from the sky.

What it does is read the frequency underneath the purchase. You

might get an invitation to a lush event, and you get to stay in a

five-star hotel. You could win a competition or something that

you've entered.

The Universe can bring you these opportunities in many ways. But

what's important to understand is that it's the energy, not the

thing itself, that counts!

So that is how we assign value to our money. Money represents

value. We spend our money on things we value. That being the

case, you should make sure that you want more of anything you

are spending your money on because you value it with a particular

energy.

This is why money is a very powerful commodity. If money is a

happy byproduct of alignment and represents value, we now

understand that when we make choices around money, we're

obviously perpetuating and creating more of that.


Re-writing The Contract With No Obligation

But what about all our other choices when they're not about

money?

It doesn't matter who you are or where you live, no matter your

class, colour, or creed. Everybody gets the same 24 hours

allocated to them daily, and those 24 hours are yours to do what

you want. You can't rewind time, so you can't go backwards and

do it over, and you never know when it will end. It could all be

gone tomorrow.

So again, how you spend your time when you spend time doing

something is a choice. Similarly, the frequency that vibrates

underneath that choice, you'd better make sure you want more

of it because the Universe says yes.

You are assigning value to time when you spend it, and as we

spend it. We spend our days doing all sorts of things. Whatever

is underneath it, you better make sure that it's vibrating at a

frequency at the very least of love or above at the very least.

Ideally, you'll know your target energy. This is the specific

frequency or feeling you want to experience more of in your life.

You will assign value to your time to your target energy because

you know that when you do that, in the moment, you are

creating your future.

Often, though, even if you know what your target energy is, it

can be a challenge to ensure that every choice vibrates at that

frequency. But as long as it vibrates at love or above, you should

be good to go.

Warning: But what you absolutely do not want to choose are

our not-so-fab four false friends: obligation, sacrifice,

resentment, and guilt.

Obligation is all your have-tos, must-dos, should-dos, and gotos.

Remember, obligation and sacrifice cannot be separated.

So, if you do something out of obligation, you are also

sacrificing. Very quickly, that will be followed by resentment,

and quite often, guilt's in there as well—not always, but quite

often. For example, when you spend too much time working on

something, thinking it's filled with love energy, you secretly feel

guilty about not spending the evening with your partner.


The Energy of Now Creates Your Reality

To navigate all these subtleties, you've got to be tuned in and super

self-aware of what's happening in your life to ensure that you are not

assigning value to any of those energies with your time. When it

comes to your money, when it comes to you vibrating at a frequency

that is broadcasting yes to money, it's essential to understand the

value and how it shows up.

Action Steps:

Doing is choosing, so what are you choosing to do right now?

The power of now really is all you have, but the ENERGY underneath

your actions is what determines your outcomes.

Spend time engaging with the potential energy of what you want to

create. That will help you determine your next steps.

So many of us, even if we are conscious and self-aware, tend to just

go to sleep when it comes to our actions. We tend to spend our days

on autopilot; even if we're a bit discombobulated, we just muddle on

through, or maybe the not-so-fab four will have their noses pressed

against the window, trying to come in when you engage in

obligation, guilt, sacrifice, and resentment. I get it! Those guys are

stalkers!

If you want to master energy alignment, especially money energy

alignment, you must examine your actions constantly in the moment

of doing them to become aware of how you assign value.

You can do this simply by first identifying your target energy to see if

what you're doing and feeling is in sync with your desire. You can

practice breathing exercises to bring yourself back to the present

moment and observe what's happening in your body. Do a body

scan. Is there any tension? Weird sensations? Even discomfort? If so,

ask yourself, “Is this aligned with my goals and desires?”

Remember, when you've got a desire in your future, that's because

it's available for you to create, and you can start creating it right now,

this very minute.

With every choice and decision you make, you determine how much

you actually value yourself. In that moment, you say, "I value myself

enough. I'm worthy of the experiences that I desire.”

You don’t have to invoke the Universe to collaborate with you, it just

does! Whether you like the joint venture or not!

Now that you know how this works (oodles of proof available!) why

We’ve all heard it: “You should collaborate more!”

And yes — when done well, collaboration can be a brilliant

growth strategy. It gives you access to new audiences,

fresh ideas, valuable skills, and shared time and resources.

It can even fast-track your goals… assuming you’re clear

on what those goals are in the first place.

Still, not every opportunity is worth a yes. Some

collaborations will distract you, dilute your brand, or leave

you with more hassle than help. If you don’t take the time

to get clear on what you want, it’s easy to get swept up in

someone else’s momentum - and that doesn’t always

lead to results that actually matter for your business.

Collaboration Isn’t a Shortcut If It’s the Wrong Fit

A well-matched collaboration can elevate your business —

but if you’re not aligned on values, expectations or

outcomes, things can get messy fast.

It’s not just about being nice or saying yes to anyone who

asks. It’s about protecting your time, energy and

reputation. I’ve seen too many brilliant business owners

agree to something that looked exciting on the surface,

only to find themselves in a situation that didn’t feel good

or deliver anything meaningful.

Here’s What to Ask Before You Say Yes

Before you jump in — whether it’s a shared workshop, a

podcast swap or a training inside someone’s membership

— take a moment to get clear.



Your Collab Clarity Checklist:

When It Works, It Really Works

Do we share values? (How do they show up, treat

others, handle disagreement?)

Are the goals and outcomes clear from the start?

Will both sides benefit — or is this a one-way

arrangement?

Are roles and responsibilities clearly defined?

Is there a contract or written agreement, even if it’s

informal?

What’s the plan if things change or someone

wants to leave early?

Am I excited by this — or just worried I’ll miss out?

And — crucially — think about metrics:

Will the replay be promoted?

There’s a reason people love to talk about

collaboration — when it clicks, it can be incredible. I’ve

seen that firsthand with the Power Up team. When

values, communication and purpose align, it

becomes easier (and more fun) to share audiences,

elevate ideas, and create real impact together.

What makes it work is clarity. Mutual benefit.

Boundaries. A shared understanding of what we’re

building — and how we want to get there.

Choose With Intention

You don’t need to say yes to everything — or

everyone.

Some of your best business decisions will be about

what you don’t do.

Next time someone invites you to collaborate, ask the

right questions. Be intentional. Track what works.

Protect your time, your energy, and your professional

reputation.

A Quick Word on Skill Swaps

It might feel like a collaboration, but I don’t consider a

skill swap the same thing. And I don’t recommend

them. Even if you’re offering services in exchange, I

believe you should always issue an invoice — even if

it’s discounted to £0. When people see your value

written down and itemised, they’re far more likely to

respect it. That rarely happens in a casual swap.

You can write the perfect caption or DM script.

And while those strategies have their place,

there’s one that cuts through the noise faster,

builds trust quicker, and creates real

momentum in your business: speaking directly

to people live, in your voice, in real time.

In a world where we scroll past hundreds of

polished graphics and carefully crafted

captions each day, hearing someone speak

cuts through. It brings tone, energy, and

conviction that no post can match. Whether

you're on a stage, hosting a masterclass,

jumping into a Zoom room, or simply

introducing yourself at a networking event, your

voice carries the power to build connection in

seconds.

Here are five actionable ways to use public speaking to

boost your network, build real relationships, and open the

door to more aligned opportunities starting this month.

1. Don’t Pitch! Solve

Tip: Reframe your intro to focus on the problem you solve,

not your job title.

Instead of: “Hi, I’m Sarah and I’m a mindset coach.”

Try: “I help ambitious women stop second-guessing

themselves so they can finally take confident action in their

business.”

This instantly tells people who you help and how sparking

curiosity and connection. People remember problems that

sound like theirs (or their clients’), not job titles.

2. Always End With a Conversation Hook

Because in that moment when someone hears

you, they're not just learning what you do.

They're feeling your passion. They’re deciding if

they trust you. And often, that’s all it takes to

unlock the next collaboration, referral, or “We

need to talk!” client moment.

So if you want to grow your network, build

meaningful business relationships, and be

remembered for the magic you bring, start with

your voice.

Tip: Finish your talk, pitch, or intro with a clear invite to chat

or collaborate.

Example: “If you’ve ever wanted to get more confident on

camera or stage, I’d love to chat. Come say hi after!”

This way you give people a reason to approach you,

removing the awkwardness. If you’re networking online, use

a similar line in your Zoom chat or LinkedIn comment.



3. Use a “One Story” Strategy

Final Thought:

Action Tip: Prepare one short, real-life story that

shows the transformation your service creates.

Example: “One of my clients used to freeze every

time she spoke. After working together, she just

nailed her first keynote and walked off stage

with three new client enquiries.”

Speaking isn’t just about confidence, it’s about

connection. Every time you speak, you give

people a reason to remember you, trust you,

and want to work with you.

So this month, don’t just show up. Speak up with

clarity, connection, and collaboration in mind.

Stories are memorable and build emotional

connection fast. People don’t just hear what you

4. Practice Your ‘Power Circle’

Tip: Create a list of 5 events, masterminds, or

communities where your ideal collaborators or

clients already hang out. Commit to showing up

and speaking (even briefly) in at least one this

month.

Speaking in the right rooms positions you as a

trusted expert. Your next collaboration or

referral often comes from being visible where it

matters, not just everywhere.

5. Have a Follow-Up System (Even a Simple

One)

Tip: After any talk, webinar, or networking event,

message 3 people you connected with and

follow up with a voice note or personalised

message.

Keep it simple: “It was fab to meet you. I loved

what you said about X. If you’re up for a chat or

a collaboration idea, let me know!”

Relationships aren’t built from one moment,

they grow with intentional follow-up. Most

people don’t follow up, so when you do, you

stand out.

A Personal Note from Me

I know the power of speaking from experience,

literally! When I launched my very first small

stage event, I had no idea just how much it

would change the game. That one brave step

into creating a space for others to share their

voice sparked a wave of connection,

collaboration, and opportunity.

It’s also where I first met Jenni, which led to this

When we talk about impact in business, it’s easy

to focus on the big stuff: revenue, growth,

visibility. But the most meaningful, long-lasting

impact is often rooted in something quieter and

less measurable. Real relationships.

Collaboration is built on trust, not tactics

A true collaboration isn’t just a shared offer or a

cross-promotion. It’s about finding shared

ground, combining different strengths and

creating something better together.

Collaboration, networking and connection aren’t

things you tag on once the 'real work' is done.

They are the work. Especially in values-led

businesses, where how you work often matters

just as much as what you do.

In my work, I help businesses prove and

articulate the difference they make. Not just the

results they deliver, but the ripples they leave

behind. The way they show up. The standards

they hold. The experience they create for the

people they serve. And again and again, at the

centre of it all, is connection.

Sometimes it's a standout collaboration. Other

times it's a quiet introduction that leads to a

new opportunity. Often, it's the slow build of trust

over time. But whatever the shape, one thing is

clear. Relationships change things.

And it works best when it starts with trust. Not a

spreadsheet of goals or a chase for reach, but a

mutual respect for how the other person works

and what they stand for.

If you're looking to collaborate, start close. Who

already knows you and rates you? Who works in

a way that aligns with yours? The most fruitful

partnerships often start from relationships

already in play.

Networking doesn’t have to feel forced

The word networking can feel loaded. For many,

it brings to mind awkward events or one-sided

conversations. But real networking is just about

being human. It’s about showing up, listening,

and letting people get to know who you really

are.

When you lead with curiosity, not a pitch,

everything changes. Over time, that builds a

network rooted in mutual respect, not obligation.

These are the people who refer you, mention

you in rooms you’re not in, and say your name

when an opportunity arises. You don’t need to

be the loudest person in the room. You just need

to mean what you say, and keep showing up.



Why I built a community

In early 2025, I launched The Impactful

Community because I saw too many thoughtful

women in business downplaying their own

value. They weren’t lacking in skill or drive. But

they were tired of rooms that didn’t reflect how

they worked. They wanted substance, not noise.

The community began as a simple monthly

session, but it quickly grew into something

bigger. It became a space where women could

reflect on the impact of their work, share

honestly, and build relationships that felt real.

It’s not a place for hustle or hype. It’s a place to

pause, reconnect with what matters, and grow

in good company. And what it’s created is a

living example of what this article is all about.

The online space is a noisy one and it can often feel

like everyone's vying for the spotlight. So being

featured in the press as an entrepreneur is one of the

best ways to stand out above the noise and be seen

and heard by the people who matter.

And you'll be pleased to hear that it's not about

being the loudest or the most polished.

Public relations is sometimes mistaken for cold,

transactional press releases and impersonal pitches.

But in reality, you can have way more success with

PR by focusing on one crucial thing: relationships.

Whether it’s a journalist replying to your email, a

podcast host inviting you on their show, or a fellow

business owner recommending you to a media

contact, you can set yourself up for success by

Why Relationships Trump Cold Outreach

There’s nothing wrong with a cold pitch done well.

Myself and my clients send cold pitches to journalists

all the time, and this results in brilliant publicity. But a

warm introduction will always help to open doors. A

recommendation from someone a journalist already

trusts gives you instant credibility. Or simply building

a relationship with a journalist yourself by getting

onto their radar, engaging with them and staying in

their orbit, will help you to stay top of mind.

Collaboration as a Visibility Strategy

Collaborations with other entrepreneurs or creators

are often overlooked in PR strategies, yet they’re one

of the smartest ways to increase your reach and

your perceived authority. Co-hosting a webinar,

guest teaching in someone’s program, or even

collaborating on a content series can put you in front

of new audiences while simultaneously boosting

your authority.

I’ve experienced this firsthand. Over the years, I’ve

connected with clients and online peers who have

invited me to appear on their podcasts or contribute

to their digital magazines. These weren't cold pitches

- they were relationships I had nurtured, which

naturally led to these invitations.

From Interview to Collaboration

Some of my favourite collaborations have started

with PR opportunities. More than once, I’ve been

interviewed on a podcast and then ended up

providing a guest expert training inside the host’s

membership or mastermind. In other cases, the

podcast host became an affiliate for one of my

programs.

These relationships didn’t just result in visibility, they

created momentum. The initial media feature served

as a door-opener, but it was the real connection that

led to something longer-lasting and mutually

beneficial.



The Visibility Compound Effect

The truth is, visibility breeds visibility. A podcast interview could

catch the ear of a producer (this happened to my client who

was approached by a TV producer who found her via a podcast

interview!) A guest article could be seen by a journalist looking

for expert commentary. PR is not always linear, but it is

cumulative.

Follow the journalists you want to connect with on social media,

read their work, and engage with them where you can -

comment, share, or tell them what you loved about their recent

article. Show them you're paying attention and that you're

genuinely interested in what they're doing.

2. Stay in Touch

Once you've pitched a journalist once, you can get back in

touch with them with new ideas. The more they see your name

popping up, the more they'll remember you.

3. Always Say Thank You After Press Opportunities

Most people forget to do this, but it's always worth thanking the

journalist or podcast host after an article or interview comes out

so that you can nurture that relationship with them and keep

the door open for future opportunities.

4. Look Inside Your Own Network for PR Leads

Sometimes the easiest PR leads to find, especially when you’re

first starting out, are already in your circle. Think about any

connections who are podcast hosts or people in your network

with blogs or magazines. Start with people who know you, trust

you, and might be willing to feature you, as an easy way in.

5. Turn PR Opportunities into Collaborations

Don’t let the visibility end when the episode airs or the article

runs. Explore ways to collaborate further with the host or

journalist. You can look at co-creating content, hosting a joint

event, or partnering in a more formal way. I’ve had podcast

hosts become affiliates, and interviewers invite me back to

speak inside their communities. There are so many possibilities

when you approach PR as the start of a relationship, not the end

of one.
