The International Franchise Show Review – Top Exhibitors
Find your dream franchise
The International Franchise Show returned to London’s
Excel on the 11th-12th of April 2025. As promised, it
was bigger, more dynamic, and even more engaging
than ever before, as the show continued to lead the
way in the global franchising industry.
The 2025 show welcomed over 11,000 attendees, 250+
exhibitors, and featured over 60 free seminars highlighting
the event's essential role as the premier platform for
franchising professionals. Its unique ability to bring together
franchisors, investors, and industry leaders to network,
collaborate, and share knowledge made the International
Franchise Show the must-attend event of the year.
Some of the highlights from 2025:
Biggest ever seen exhibitor
showcase: In response to
growing demand, the 2025
show featured an even larger
and more diverse range of
exhibitors from a wide variety of
industries. With opportunities
spanning food, retail, home
services, and beyond,
attendees were able to explore
all of the newest and most
exciting franchise opportunities from around the world.
International partnerships and networking: This
year, the show expanded its global reach. In addition
to its longstanding partnership with the International
Franchise Association (IFA), new relationships were
forged with key industry players across Europe, North
America, and Asia. The results allowed for even
greater opportunities for networking, cross-border
collaboration, and international growth.
Expert seminars and keynotes: The 2025 show
featured even more valuable learning experiences with
expert-led seminars and keynote presentations from
entrepreneurs like Lucy Campbell, CEO of Right at Home
UK, who led an insightful session at the Keynote Theatre
1 titled ‘How to Find the Right Franchise For You.’ Whilst
breaking down what it means to invest in a franchise,
the seminar helped individuals to assess whether
franchising is the right business model for them, how
they would go about choosing the right brands in the
right sector, and, crucially, what they should expect from
an ethical franchisor, in return for their investment.
Also, Mark Holland, Master Franchisee at Bodystreet
gave a fantastic talk titled ‘Franchising Myths and
Legends.’ This engaging presentation uncovered the 10
most important myths and legends about franchising,
covering common misconceptions to essential truths.
It also taught individuals how to learn the real roles of
franchisees and franchisors, understand the dynamics
of franchising partnerships, and
left them feeling confident to
walk away with clarity about this
rewarding business model.
Many other renowned franchising
professionals, successful
entrepreneurs, and industry thought
leaders also shared their insights on
topics such as scaling a franchise,
navigating legal challenges, the
future of franchise technology, and
more. Furthermore, the IFA once again hosted high-impact
sessions designed to equip both new and experienced
franchisees with the tools they need for success.
Interactive features and live demos: The shows
commitment to innovation continued with the
introduction of interactive features and live
demonstrations that offered attendees the opportunity
to get hands-on experience with the latest franchise
products, services, and technologies. From virtual
reality walkthroughs to live cooking demos from top
food franchise brands, the 2025 show delivered an
immersive experience like never before.
Networking opportunities: With more exhibitors, more
visitors, and an expanded agenda, the networking
potential at the International Franchise Show 2025
was unparalleled. New networking zones, private
meeting areas, and exclusive business matchmaking
sessions made it easier than ever to meet the right
people and form long-lasting partnerships.
The Children’s Activity Pavilion was highly successful this
year, and was designed to showcase emerging franchise
brands tailored specifically for children. Children’s
activity brands have grown over the past few years,
driven by the increasing number of working parents. With
demand for childcare on the rise, an entire industry has
evolved to educate and entertain children. This year, the
International Franchise Show had a dedicated platform
for leading franchise brands to connect with prospective
franchisees, where they provided valuable insights into
the benefits of joining their network.
As always, the International Franchise Show remains
dedicated to uniting the global franchising community.
The 2025 show continued to facilitate collaborations
that drove growth, shared valuable insights, and fostered
an environment where franchisors and franchisees
alike could thrive. With a growing focus on sustainability,
innovation, and diversity, the 2025 edition as an even
more forward-thinking event that reflected the evolving
landscape of the franchise industry.
Mark your calendars now for the 2026 edition of the
International Franchise Show on April 17th-18th at the
Excel London. Whether you’re looking to invest in a
franchise, expand your business, or simply gain insights
into the franchising world, the show is the place to be.
This is our pick of the best exhibitors from this year’s
show, listed here in alphabetical order: Activ Marketing,

Nurturing better beginnings for Children and Franchisees
At Canopy, we believe in better beginnings.
For children, that means inspiring
environments, immersive experiences and
strong relationships. For franchisees, it
means building a business that reflects
their values, supported by a team who care
deeply about early year’s education.
Our nurseries are modern, nature-inspired
spaces where learning is led by curiosity
and play. Whether children are building
bug hotels, cooking with food they've
grown or exploring the outdoors, they are
encouraged to follow their interests and
develop as individuals.
Franchisees come from many different
backgrounds, united by a shared purpose.
Rinu Shah, franchisee at Canopy Wembley
Park, shared, “I now have the nursery of
my dreams – a beautiful environment for
young children in the heart of this busy,
diverse community. Supporting my talented
team of staff as they nurture and educate
the children and building relationships with
their families is so satisfying – I love it!”
Canopy won BFA Emerging Franchisor of
the Year 2023 and has five new nurseries
opening in 2025. If you are ready to build
something meaningful in early years, we
would love to hear from you.

A fresh take on Holiday Childcare and Franchising
Fun Fest Holiday Clubs gives children
something many holiday clubs don’t: choice.
With over 50 activities that run in rotation
throughout the year, every club offers
variety, energy and a chance for children to
shape their own experience.
Each club is locally owned and operated by
a franchisee, creating a trusted, communitybased
provision with the backing of an
experienced national team. Franchisees
are supported from the very beginning, with
full training, marketing support and help
gaining Ofsted Early Years registration so
they can welcome children from age three.
Our network includes former teachers,
childcare professionals, parents and people
from corporate careers who are ready for
something more flexible and fulfilling. Fun
Fest operates during school holidays only,
offering a model that fits around family life
while delivering a purposeful business.
It’s a rewarding opportunity for those who
want to work with children, contribute to
their community and build something of
their own. If that sounds like you, we’d love
to hear from you.

Game-changing 3D eye imaging
technology set to revolutionise eye care
A revolutionary 3D eye
imaging system that’s set
to transform eye care,
telemedicine, and clinical
workflows has been
unveiled by Centre for
Sight, one of the UK’s
leading eye hospitals.
IMVIS (Infinite Medical Ventures
Imaging System) digitises the
traditional slit lamp exam, a core part
of eye examinations that has barely
changed in over 100 years.
For the first time, high-definition, fully
3D eye images can now be captured,
reviewed and shared remotely – live or retrospectively – on
smartphones, tablets, and computers, anywhere in the world.
The system is ready for AI machine learning, creating
structured, objective datasets that will power future
diagnostic algorithms and smart decision-support tools.
IMVIS lays the groundwork for AI-driven healthcare in
ophthalmology and is set to slash waiting lists, reduce
clinician workload, and improve national
and global access to specialist care.
Developed by Sheraz Daya, Medical
Director at Centre for Sight, and retinal
surgeon Professor Tom Williamson,
IMVIS is now in use at Centre for
Sight’s East Grinstead and Oxshott
centres, with London installations
coming soon at Harley Street and
London Lauriston Clinic.
The breakthrough comes as
ophthalmology faces rising pressures
from ageing populations, limited
capacity, and overstretched clinical
teams. IMVIS offers a faster, more
flexible alternative to the in-person slit lamp exam,
enabling documentation, real-time telemedicine, remote
collaboration and more efficient patient management.

Facing the taboos of care head on with
launch of new local in-home care provider
The heart of South West Essex has recently
ushered in a new chapter for local in-home
care provision – a passion project
spearheaded by Shahid Iqbal and his
Registered Care Manager Barbara
Ukaegbu. Their new business, Visiting
Angels, has arrived in Leyton with a
straightforward mission: to provide topnotch,
personal care right where people
are most comfortable… their homes.
Shahid’s personal experience and insight
into the care sector has led to him facing the
taboos of care head on.
The pandemic hit close to home for Shahid, revealing
not just the widespread issues in care homes that made
headlines, but also causing personal loss and grief
in his own family. And having cared for his late father
combined with his daughter’s experiences working in
the care sector, his revitalised approach has embedded
a culture of empathy and understanding into the very
foundation of their business. It’s a venture
born from real stories, ensuring genuine,
quality care for the people of South
West Essex.
Visiting Angels’ ‘carer-centric’ approach
sets it apart from other companies
in the in-home care sector. Carers
working for Visiting Angels feel valued
and respected for their commitment
to this important job. Through both
financial rewards and opportunities for
career development, Shahid, Barbara and the
Visiting Angels team are determined to address issues
surrounding the industry, which often leaves carers
feeling little-to-no appreciation.

provide care for you or a loved one, please visit:

Mental health in the workplace
Mental wellbeing is a growing concern in the workplace.
Issues such as stress, depression, and anxiety (SAD) can
not only be a detriment to employees’ personal lives but
also to the business and economic landscape.
Absence due to poor mental health impacts business
productivity and overall company performance, costing
employers as much as £51 billion annually.
The money.co.uk business insurance team have
analysed government data to reveal which industries and
occupations experience the highest levels of SAD. They’ve
also provided tips on promoting mental wellbeing in the
workplace.
The industries with the worst mental health
1) Human health and social work activities
Workers in the human health and social care industry
have the highest instances of SAD. Between 2020 and
2023, the industry averaged 3,530 cases per 100,000
people that were caused or made worse by current roles.
2) Public administration
and defence; compulsory
social security
Public administration and
defence; compulsory social
security takes second
place. Over the last three
years, the sector averaged
3,260 cases of SAD per
100,000 workers. The sector includes roles in the
police, fire, and prison services, as well as military
occupations.
3) Education
The education sector rounds off the top three. Like
many other public services, it has faced drastic cuts
over the last 10 years. This has led to many educators
leaving the profession and increasing workloads for
those who choose to stay, contributing to higher levels
of SAD among the workforce.

MRPeasy: Simple tools for small but serious
manufacturers
When we founded MRPeasy more than ten years
ago, we had a clear vision.
We knew that small and medium-sized manufacturers
faced a choice between two extremes:
● Rely on spreadsheets and manual processes
● Invest heavily in complex, enterprise-grade ERP
systems.
Neither option served SMEs well.
Spreadsheets, while flexible, become cumbersome
and error-prone as businesses grow. Traditional
ERPs, however, are expensive, overly complex,
and designed for enterprises with dedicated IT
departments and large budgets.
We believed there had to be a better way.
So we built MRPeasy – a manufacturing software
that offers the right balance of power, simplicity,
and affordability for SME manufacturers.
What is MRPeasy?
MRPeasy is not an accounting software dressed
up for manufacturing or an inventory management
software stretched to its limits.
It is a comprehensive, purpose-built platform that
gives growing manufacturers the tools they need to
plan production, manage inventory, control costs,
and improve efficiency, without the complexity or
cost of traditional systems.
Key benefits of MRPeasy
● Accurate planning & scheduling: Easily plan
your operations both in the short and long term,
even with complex and configurable products.
● Inventory management: Maintain accurate,
real-time stock levels across locations.
● Traceability: Trace back any inconsistencies
and defects to their root cause and comply with
industry regulations.
● Actual costing: Gain precise real-time insights
into production costs and profitability.
● Data security: We are deeply committed to
securing your vital data using dedicated physical
servers, backups, encryption, and anti-cyberattack
measures. We are ISO27001:2022 certified and
regularly audited by a third-party cybersecurity firm.
MRPeasy is designed to
support a wide range of
industries – from electronics
and precision engineering
to food and chemical
manufacturing.
Proven success among UK
manufacturers
More than 500 UK
manufacturing companies
have successfully adopted
MRPeasy to gain better control over their operations.
In a recent survey, MRPeasy users reported:
● 67% improvement in inventory tracking
accuracy
● 54% improvement in operational efficiency
● 46% improvement in cost control
● 39% increase in on-time deliveries
These results demonstrate that SME manufacturers
can achieve drastic improvements with simple and
affordable tools.
We will demonstrate how MRPeasy can help your
business improve production planning, inventory
management, and operational efficiency – all with
a system designed specifically for manufacturers
like you.

Hospitality bosses warned: Act
now to prevent staff burnout
With the UK poised for a scorching
summer and a significant uptick in both
domestic and international tourism,
hospitality businesses face a highpressure
season ahead. Recent data
underscores the urgency for proactive
measures to support frontline staff and
maintain service excellence.
Key insights:
● Tourism boom: VisitBritain forecasts a
record 43.4 million inbound visitors in
2025, a 5% increase from the previous
year. Additionally, 69% of Brits are
opting for staycations, with beach hut
bookings surging by 79% 1 , indicating a
robust domestic travel trend.
● Heatwave expectations: The Met
Office reports that the UK is 2.3 times
more likely to experience a hotterthan-average
summer, following the
warmest and sunniest spring on
record. This raises concerns about
staff wellbeing during prolonged
periods of high temperatures.
● Staff wellbeing concerns: According
to Quinyx’s latest State of the
Frontline Workforce report:
– 65% of hospitality staff experience
job-related stress.
– 49% said their job has had a
negative impact on their physical
or mental health
– 26% have considered quitting due
to stress.
– 33% cite poor leadership as a key
issue.
International workforce management
provider, Quinyx urges hospitality
leaders to implement strategies that
alleviate staff pressure, safeguard
wellbeing, and enhance retention during
the peak season.

Embargo wins £350,000 UK Smart Grant to
empower hospitality SMEs with AI
Leading hospitality tech business Embargo has been
awarded the prestigious UK Smart Grant by the UK
government to develop an AI model for its CRM and
loyalty platform.
Embargo is the UK’s leading CRM, loyalty and ordering

SMEs. Founded by Fryderyk Szydlowski and Tsewang
Wangkang, Embargo allows restaurants, coffee
shops and bakeries to reward regulars, capture data,
communicate with their customers and offer direct
ordering for delivery and pickup, while consumers use
the Embargo App (rated 4.9/5 on the AppStore) as
a digital wallet for paperless loyalty cards offered by
renowned hospitality brands.
The company has reported a 200% increase in
revenue in the past two years, achieving this growth

expands ystral’s testing capacities, as the existing
application technology centre and a development
laboratory have reached their capacity limits. “The
construction of the new validation centre is a major
step in the history of our company – because this is
ultimately the place where we come together with our
customers,” says Peter Manke, Managing Director and
co-owner of ystral. The validation centre is scheduled

Plumbing supplies manufacturer makes another
splash with paddleboarding sponsorship
Zilmet, the expansion vessel
manufacturer, has announced its
continued sponsorship of the UK’s
premier stand-up paddleboarding
(SUP) challenge for 2024.
Now in its seventh year, the Trent100
has enjoyed Zilmet’s support since
2017. This popular endurance
challenge invites teams from around
the world to traverse a scenic route
for 100km along the River Trent, starting in Great
Haywood near the Zilmet UK office in Staffordshire.
Paddling finishes in Nottingham city centre, where a
festival-style event promises fun and adventure.
Although the Trent100 includes
competitive elements like timing
and checkpoints, the focus is on
endurance, adventure, and team spirit
rather than racing against others for
a podium position. Dave Mistry Pain,
from the Trent100 organisation team,
explains, “Our mission has always
been to inspire and challenge SUP
enthusiasts to push their limits, as well
as having a thoroughly great time.”
“We are immensely grateful for Zilmet’s continued
support, which has been instrumental in the growth and
success of the event.”
Cynthia Fisher, spokesperson for Zilmet UK, who
acted as event starter at one of the early Trent100s,
praised the event for its competitive spirit and sense

Housing survey reveals
planning permissions at
an all-time low
Successful asset disposal
paves the way for
business transformation
The number of sites that gained planning
permission in 2023 dropped to the lowest
level for a 12-month period since The
Housing Pipeline Report began in 2006.
The 10,527 sites were granted
permission in 2023 – a 16% decrease
on 2022 and a 23% fall on 2021.
The volume is about half the average
annual permissions granted between
2015 and 2019, according to the report by
market intelligence consultancy Glenigan
for the Home Builders Federation, HBF.
HBF, chairman Stewart Baseley said,
“Amidst a deepening housing crisis and
with house building levels already falling
sharply, this report should send alarm
bells ringing across government and the
country.”
“As we have been warning for some time,
the sharp decline in housing supply is the
inevitable result of several years of antigrowth
policy and rhetoric. The politically
driven weakening of the planning system
will impact housing supply for years to
come and needs to be urgently reversed.”
The number of units gaining planning
permission in England during 2023
dropped to the lowest for any 12-month
period since 2014.
At under 233,000, the number of units
approved in 2023 decreased by a fifth
on 2022, 27% on 2021 and was down
30% on pre-pandemic levels.
The figures follow hard on the heels of
government data which show a 13% yearon-year
decrease in house completions in
southern England in 2023.

A well-established
construction and
joinery company,
founded in 1980,
recently decided to
sell several pieces of
machinery through
asset disposal
specialists as part of
a planned business
restructure.
The decision was fuelled by the
company’s need to create space following
investment in newer, more efficient
machinery as well as a requirement to
generate additional capital that could be
reinvested into the business.
Based in the West Midlands, the
company has built a strong reputation
for its expertise in bar and shopfitting,
serving as the main contractor for clients
involved in refurbishing and refitting
their premises. With decades of industry
experience, they have consistently
delivered high-quality results tailored to
clients’ needs in the retail and hospitality
sectors.
By collaborating with
BPI Asset Disposal
Solutions, the
company aimed to
maximise the value
of its assets, whilst
facilitating a quick
sale process.
Asset disposal
solution
The management team
at the construction and joinery company
was made aware of BPI’s asset disposal
services following a recommendation
from a business that provided a valuation
for several of their machines. The dealer
suggested BPI as a partner to help realise
the true value of their assets.
Choosing asset disposal specialists over
a dealer was a strategic move as BPI
could market the assets to its existing
customer database, which aligned with the
company’s goals of maximising returns.

Research commissioned by United Trust Bank (UTB)
has found that SMEs are potentially missing out on
approximately £2.29 billion of interest payments
each year by leaving excess credit balances in current
accounts and instant access savings accounts paying
no or uncompetitive rates of interest.
Experts at the award-winning savings provider have
calculated that the approximately £2.29 billion of extra
revenue being lost could pay for 58,000 new full-time staff
earning the current average UK salary of £35,724 p.a.
The research, carried out by independent savings
expert Andrew Hagger of Moneycomms.co.uk, revealed
the huge potential financial benefits of switching excess
credit balances to a better paying account(s) and why
it is worth moving some monies from instant access
to longer term options if it aligns with the cash flow
projections of individual businesses.
Looking at the scale of how much potential interest is
being lost, if the full £133.5 billion in business sight
deposits (current accounts and instant access accounts)
was stagnating in high street bank instant access
accounts at an average 1.44% interest, the annual
interest return would be approximately £1.92 billion.
However, the same funds in a 30/45-day notice savings
account (market average 3.15%) would see the figure jump
to approximately £4.21 billion. The £2.29 billion difference
could potentially pay for more staff to increase productivity
or invest in new premises, technology and equipment.
Andrew Hagger of Moneycomms, commented, “To
enjoy the better rates on offer from non-mainstream
providers, there’s no need to uproot the existing
business current account relationship (which I
appreciate many firms would be reluctant to do due
to disruption/inconvenience) but there’s nothing to
stop companies opening a separate business deposit
account or accounts with the growing range of more
specialist business savings banking providers offering a
wider choice of more competitive savings options.”
Brian Todd, Head of Deposits at United Trust Bank,
commented, “The rewards for businesses switching
to better paying accounts are there for the taking. The
more agile specialist and challenger business savings
banks are tweaking rates frequently in the current
climate to stay competitive and attract funds while
big banks remain slow to react and continue to pay
substantially lower interest rates by comparison.”

believe AI directly influences purchasing decisions
SEVEN IN 10 (70%) UK consumers are now aware
generative AI promotes goods and services online and
45% believe it directly influences purchasing decisions,
according to a new consumer study.
The insight, gained by market research agency MSi ACI
through a survey of 1,000 UK consumers, shows that
fake reviews in general (49%) were the most concerning
when it comes to trusting the validity of content.
But more than a third (38%) of the population think
AI-generated reviews and celebrity ‘deep fakes’ are the
biggest worry, with 37% feeling their trust is most put
into question around AI providing misinformation.
The research also found trust in decision making varies

The Armed Forces Covenant is a way for

through employment, or flexibility to enable them

network of other supportive businesses.
Andrew Powell, CEO of Healthier Heroes, an

leavers added, “I'd just like to thank NORi for
signing the Armed Forces Covenant today. It shows
a real pledge and a commitment to support service

Foundation urges businesses to
take part in skilled volunteering
Skills based volunteering has the potential to revolutionise corporate
social responsibility, providing significant advantages to businesses,
employees, and charities, according to a new report from Lloyds Bank
Foundation.
For more than a decade, Lloyds Bank Foundation has fostered connections
between volunteers from its funder Lloyds Banking Group, and small
charities. In a new research report, Skills Based Volunteering: A Win,
Win, Win’ the independent foundation analyses the mutually beneficial
rewards skilled volunteering offers businesses, employees, and charities.
It highlights the value added when employee volunteering goes beyond a
one-off physical activity, to volunteers sharing professional expertise, such
as management, finance, IT, HR and marketing, to help charities strengthen
and develop their vital work supporting people and communities.
To mark Volunteers Week 2024, this report aims to encourage
businesses and charities to work together to embrace skilled
volunteering as an opportunity for mutual growth that offers
potential for helping transform communities.
The Foundation encourages all businesses large and small to draw on
these lessons and consider the opportunities in skilled volunteering,
encouraging their employees to share and use their skills to help
charities grow and develop.
