On A Mission To Elevate Patient Experiences At
Every Stage Of Their Treatment Journey
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a
significant impact on the healthcare
industry, leading to a rise in the
adoption of healthtech and remote care
services. The pandemic has forced healthcare
providers to adopt innovative solutions to
deliver care while maintaining social
distancing measures and minimizing the risk
of infection. With the outbreak of the virus,
healthcare providers have had to restructure
their operations to adapt to the changing
needs of patients.
This has led to increased use of technology,
such as telemedicine, to deliver care to
patients remotely. The pandemic has also
highlighted the need for increased investment
in healthtech and digital healthcare solutions
to ensure that healthcare providers can
continue to provide high-quality care to
patients, even during times of crisis.
Furthermore, healthtech will become
mainstream through the progressive adoption
of connected devices, remote patient
monitoring tools, teleconsultation, and other
digital modalities that aim at improving care.
It has two potential effects on healthcare.
First, it aids in decision-making because it
gives all stakeholders more information
about patients' health status and improves
their ability to take appropriate action.
9
The Most innovative HealthTech companies To Watch 2023
Second, since digital solutions are
decentralized and accessible to patients
directly, it puts a greater emphasis on
them. Thus, the patient voice is more
accessible than in the past, which is a
very positive shift.
A Leader In Integrated Health
Solutions And Services
This is where Aptar Digital Health
comes into the picture with a mission
to empower patients with selfconfidence
to manage their disease.
The company believes that when
supported with the right tools, patients
can become active participants in their
own care, working as partners with
their care teams. Thus, it creates endto-end
solutions through an integrated
suite of products and services by
combining mobile, web-based
technology, and connected hardware,
to actively engage patients in their
treatment and help deliver superior
experiences at a global scale.
Aptar Digital Health provides a range
of services to assist patients dealing
with diseases. For instance, it helps
support people diagnosed with cancer
to better self-manage their symptoms
and stay on track with their treatments.
In the field of respiratory care, with the
aid of mobile apps, smart inhalers and
diagnostic devices, it assists
individuals with asthma or COPD to
better manage their medication therapy.
It also helps people with diabetes better
manage their treatment thanks to realtime
advice on insulin doses to inject.
In all of these examples, Aptar Digital
Health connects patients with their care
teams remotely so they can benefit
from earlier interventions should this
become necessary.
AptarGroup, Inc., a global leader in the
design and manufacturing of a wide
variety of drug delivery, consumer
product dispensing, and active material
science solutions and services, owns
Aptar Digital Health as a division of
Aptar Pharma. And Aptar Digital
Health is the result of Aptar Pharma's
ambition in becoming a leader in
digital solutions.
Challenges And Roadblocks
The digital health industry is still in its
infancy. Global healthcare systems are
still establishing suitable legal and
reimbursement frameworks and
integrating digital health solutions into
routine medical procedures. Even
though the use of digital technology
has been extensively democratized
over the past 20 years, digital health is
a niche and expanding market where
patient and physician adoption is still
low.
By educating people and raising their
knowledge of the benefits of digital
health, Aptar Digital Health seeks to
challenge this paradigm. Some
challenges the company faces are
linked to the way the healthcare
systems are structured. The incentives
are not completely aligned among all
health system stakeholders – for
instance, when healthcare payment
systems are linked to utilization of
medical resources (e.g.,
hospitalizations, ER visits) instead of
linked to achieving better clinical
outcomes. There must be a further
alignment of the different stakeholders
to have full-scale adoption.
Meet The Team Behind Aptar
Digital Health's Success and Growth
Aptar Digital Health is co-led by two
individuals who have demonstrated
exceptional leadership skills,
unparalleled expertise in their
respective fields, and an unwavering
commitment to driving the
organization toward greater success.
Alongside their expert team operating
across several continents, their tireless
efforts, dedication, and strategic vision
have steered the company to new
heights. These two exemplary leaders
are Sai Shankar (Co-President) and
Pierre Leurent (Co-President).
Sai Shankar has more than 20 years of
experience across pharmaceutical,
medical devices, and digital health
business verticals. He joined Aptar
Pharma in 2017, having previously
spent 15 years at Allergan and Sanofi.
Since joining Aptar, he has helped to
build out the Digital Health division.
Today, as the Co-President of Aptar
Digital Health, Sai is responsible for
overall P&L responsibilities for the
business and has overseen the
acquisition of digital health companies
such as Voluntis and Cohero Health, as
well as equity investments in various
start-ups like Propeller Health, Sonmol
(China) and Navia (India).
Pierre Leurent is passionate about the
intersection of digital and healthcare
and has enjoyed working for over 20
years in this space, both in the United
States and Europe. An engineer by
training, he started his career at GE
Healthcare, in its medical imaging
software division. Then, he worked at
HealthCenter, a vendor of Electronic
Health Records based in Silicon Valley.
In 2001, he co-founded Voluntis, a
leading digital therapeutics platform
company, which went public in 2018.
In 2021, Voluntis was acquired by
Aptar Group. He now serves as the Co-
President of Aptar Digital Health.
Pierre has also occupied roles in
industry trade associations, such as the
Digital Therapeutics Alliance (DTA),
of which he is a founding Director, and
Advamed's Digital Health Executive
Leadership Group.
On a personal note, Pierre loves Sai's
energy - there is no mountain that he is
afraid to climb! He finds him very
ambitious and tenacious, and driven by
a contagious energy! And as for Sai, he
loves Pierre's deep industry
knowledge, his pragmatism at all
levels, and his optimism for the future
of digital health.
The exemplary duo says, “What
inspires us at Aptar Digital Health is
the opportunity to improve patients'
quality of life thanks to better health
management tools. Our mission is to
empower patients to take control of
10

11
their own health by leveraging the
latest technologies. We put advanced
digital solutions directly in the hands
of patients and healthcare
professionals. Every day we are
motivated by the positive impact we see
our solutions deliver, improving
people's lives and supporting
healthcare professionals.”
Staying Ahead
According to the dynamic duo, Pierre
and Sai, “We are aware that the
demand for our solutions varies
considerably. We operate globally and
across specific therapeutic areas.
Patients, healthcare providers, pharma
companies, and institutions have all
different expectations of digital health
solutions based on the clinical context,
local regulations, or the therapy that
are supported by a digital approach.
We work to stay ahead of these needs
by integrating new capabilities such as
managing regulated and unregulated
solutions and proposing “beyond-thetech”
services like market access,
training, and onboarding and data
analysis.”
They further add, “With a track record
of over 20 years of active operations in
the market, Aptar Digital Health owns
in-depth knowledge and know-how on
multiple subjects such as clinical
background, regulatory, patient
journey, market needs, and market
access. Finally, being backed by a
large industrial group like AptarGroup
lends us financial and organizational
stability to invest in the long-term
digital health play.”
Better Healthcare Services
Pierre and Sai: Healthcare institutions
should take into account HealthTech
for several factors, including
improving care delivery and outcomes,
lightening the burden on caregivers,
and lowering healthcare costs, which
are rising at an alarming rate globally.
In the majority of healthcare systems,
providers are compensated based on
the number of tasks completed rather
than on the consistency of the
treatment they provide. To evaluate the
worth of a medical procedure and the
move towards so-called value-based
healthcare, data is required.
HealthTech makes it feasible to gather
the data points (disease progression,
patient quality of life, etc.) needed to
support these new care models.
Improve Patient's Journey
Pierre and Sai : Every stage of the
patient's journey through treatment is
being improved by Aptar Digital
Health. Our integrated suite of digital
health products and services empowers
patients to actively engage in their
treatment and deliver a superior
experience at a global scale. We
leverage our unmatched experience
and end-to-end platforms and solutions
to derisk and accelerate pharma's
digital health initiatives across
therapeutic areas, resulting in better
patient outcomes and better care. We
are a leading expert partner of the
pharmaceutical industry in connected
devices, SaMD (Software as a Medical
Device), diagnostics, and patient
insights.
Key Milestones
In 2023, Aptar Digital Health plans to
increase its operations and fortify its
relationship with the Life Sciences
industry across several therapeutic
areas. Aptar Digital Health currently
works in seven therapeutic areas, with
a particular emphasis on oncology,
respiratory, immunology, and
neurology, where there are numerous
opportunities to make a difference for
patients using specific therapies.
Pierre and Sai say, “This year, we'll
also be able to see the full benefits of
the comprehensive offer that we built
last year, following the acquisition of
Voluntis by Aptar Pharma. Today, we
have a unique portfolio of software,
connected devices, and services, and in
2023 this offer is being actively
marketed. We are also expanding our
portfolio of collaborations with
technology partners and increasingly
acting as the pharmaceutical industry's
go-to partner for the deployment of
digital health solutions at a global
scale. Our goal is to further our
leadership position in integrated
solutions for patients and healthcare
providers.”
Words of Wisdom for HealthTech
entrepreneurs
Pierre and Sai : You need to have a
clear value proposition that meets
specific unmet needs and makes you
different from the competition. Same
for business models, once you have
defined who your target is (patients,
healthcare providers or health systems,
pharma...), be able to prove your value
through consumer insight studies,
market, clinical and real-world
evidence studies, and demonstrate that
you create value not only from a
financial standpoint but also from an
outcomes standpoint.
It's also very important to stay focused
on the business models you have
prioritized. There are so many
opportunities in this space that you can
easily lose focus and get diverted in
different directions, which can
ultimately lead to failure.
Another piece of advice would be to be
present and active in the ecosystem.
Don't stay alone in your own world:
talk to people. The healthcare industry
is a field of experts, with many
stakeholders and country specificities,
so it's important to be well-connected.
Surround yourself with the right
people, be supported by external
advisors, experts in their own domain,
to inform your decision-making and
help you achieve success!

GLOBAL HEALTH
TECHNOLOGY AS
Improving Lives Globally Through The Research And
Development Of Essential Health Technologies
The healthcare industry has witnessed
a paradigm shift in recent years,
accelerated by the onset of the
COVID-19 pandemic. And the pandemic
continues to have a significant impact on the
health tech industry. When the challenge
changed, the need for new solutions made the
industry go faster. And the adaption to users
also went faster. The CEO of Global Health
Technology AS, Alf Erik Malm believes it
also gave their industry a financial boost
from authorities and the financial sector. As a
result, healthcare professionals can connect
with and provide care for conditions that
have historically been challenging to
diagnose and treat.
A Versatile Leader with Extensive
Experience
Alf Erik currently heads Global Health
Technology as its CEO. He began his
professional journey in the health industry in
1997 when he graduated from college, and
Zeneca hired him as a pharmaceutical
representative. After two years, he was hired
14
CEO
15
The Most innovative HealthTech companies To Watch 2023
as an Area Manager by the huge
German corporation Bayer and given
the responsibility of introducing a new
cholesterol-lowering medicine.
The versatile leader was then recruited
by Roche Pharmaceutical, a company
that at the time had several
revolutionaries in the field of cancer
treatment. He made the decision to quit
the pharmaceutical industry after five
extremely exciting and enlightening
years there in order to spend less time
away from his family.
"My career continued in media, design,
and sports as an advisor and general
manager for 15 years before I was
invited to join Global Health
Technology in 2019," says Alf Erik.
Using Technology To Deliver Care
More Efficiently
Global Health Technology operates
globally with the development and sale
of cutting-edge products in health care.
Its multifunctional silicone wound
dressings, Erland Care products, are
made in Norway, and it offers groundbreaking
technology based on its
patents.
The company develops products within
stoma care and wound treatment,
which are backed by third-party
testing, the next generation of skin
protection. It is superlight, thin, and
has the absorption capacity of 15 times
its dry weight. The absorption capacity
helps reduce leakage from stomas,
which is sealed in the superabsorbent;
this in turn, helps reduce odours.
The semi-permeable perforated
silicone as an adhesive gives the skin a
great ability to ventilate/breath,
improving wound healing. The quality
of the silicone, which Alf Erik & his
team have tested, also makes it easily
16
removable after use, also on
established wounds, leaving to
adhesive left on skin.
The Protective Skin products can be
applied to sores and wounds, dry or
heavily exuding, such as bed sures,
diabetes-ulcers, traumatic wounds,
first- and second-degree burns, etc. The
products may also be used on top of
other products. Several dressings may
be layered on top of each other in cases
where the exuding fluids are
considerable.
"The UN's Sustainable Development
Goals are a common work plan for a
healthier, greener, and more inclusive
community by 2030. We are committed
to supporting Goal 3, which wants to
ensure good health and promoting
quality of life for all, regardless of
age," says Alf Erik.
Traditional Healthcare And
Healthtech Can Work Together
The synergies from joint opportunities,
in Alf Erik's opinion, will inevitably
lead to higher healthcare quality. These
synergies should be encouraged
constantly, but historically, they haven't
always been. Historic or old
agreements and large companies have
had a foothold within or around
institutions has a way of hindering
smaller companies that often have the
capability of quickly turning around as
a response to feedback and delivering
alternative or improved solutions. Not
always, but sometimes.
Alf Erik explains, "And we are not
using this as an excuse, rather a means
of inspiration. Challenges will head in
our direction left, right, and centre, and
with them, the companies and
partnerships forged will forge even
stronger synergies. A platform for
intercommunication and cooperation is
important and might not be of interest
to all. But for a large portion of the
innovators out there, we firmly believe
cooperation and partnerships will give
a return to all parties."
Strategizing Game Plans
According to Alf Erik, Global Health
Technology's products are coming
from user-driven innovation. Having
that in mind, their initial design and
materials were chosen on those
grounds, which, when choosing to
follow the path of need and necessity,
will result in a product to be proud of
by the company but also wanted by the
crowd.
When making decisions internally, the
versatile leader and his team always
take the market's competition and
innovation into account. Even as a
small business, they must have two
sets of goals in mind. One being how
17
to improve the product further and
engage with their target audience, and
two, is there a need to be filled that
they should be filling?
Major Achievements
Global Health Technology since its
inception in 2010 has garnered many
achievements -
1. The company has developed 2
product series that has the users in
focus and gives a real impact in their
quality of life.
2. Its team consists of a group of high
qualified and engaged
3. In 2020 and 2021, it was chosen to
present at the DNB NXT Healthcare
conference as one of the most
promising health companies in
Norway.
4. In 2022 it won the Social Care
Premier Supplier Healthcare Award in
UK.
5. 2023 - All Erland Care products
available on Amazon
Key Milestones
"As a result of the pandemic, we as a
company had to pivot in our launch
preparation and plans, which had a
snowball effect on our 2022 and 2023
goals. Having a team that is constantly
focused on their individual goals as
well as our team's goals and goalsetting
has had a major influence on how big
of an effect, or in our case, how minor
which, in the natural order of things,
will give way to new ideas for our
preparations and launch ambitions,"
states Alf Erik. The versatile leader and
his company Global Health
Technology are already experiencing
massive interest worldwide from
distributors, healthcare professionals,
and patients/consumers of their
products.
Alf Erik has set the milestones for
2023, which are ambitious, but they are
fundamentally backed by the market
research he and his team are
conducting in conjunction with their
distributors. It once more involved
communication between his company
and its partners/distributors. "Their
ambitions must be supported by our
company`s ability to deliver on our
end, and our ambitions should reflect
that of the company`s team, founder
and shareholders," says Alf Erik.
Words of Wisdom
Being a seasoned professional, Alf Erik
shares some valuable advice, "Cliché
pitfall right here. Originality when
asked such a question is obviously
hard. And to be fair obstacles on the
way in an entrepreneurial lifestyle is
probably a given, in my opinion.
Working towards a common goal as a
team is what makes an entrepreneur
strong, and a team is built up by
individual efforts supported by the
surrounding team." He further adds,
"Ryan Holidays book "The Obstacle is
The Way" and John Doerr's "Speed and
Scale" are classics, with golden
nuggets for every individual out there
trying to tread their own path. And as
an option having a few sparring
partners or mentors on the way, able to
enrichen thought and discussion
processes with different angles, cannot
hurt."

Revolutionizing Healthcare Services
The healthcare sector is
experiencing significant
changes brought about by the
advent of technology that is reshaping
the provision of healthcare services.
One of the technologies that are
contributing to this revolution is digital
health.
Digital health involves the use of
electronic medical records,
telemedicine, wearables, mobile apps,
and data analytics tools to enhance
healthcare services and outcomes.
Digital health allows for personalized
care and improved access to care,
which makes it a significant disruptor
in the healthcare industry.
For example, telemedicine is a popular
application of digital health because it
enables patients to access healthcare
services remotely, irrespective of their
location. This is beneficial for people
living in rural or remote areas where
healthcare access is limited.
Telemedicine also saves patients time
and money as they do not need to
travel to healthcare facilities.
Wearables and mobile apps are other
applications of digital health that are
transforming the way patients monitor
their health. These devices provide
patients with real-time health tracking
data that can be used to detect potential
health problems and track progress.
They can also provide personalized
recommendations to patients, such as
exercise and diet plans, based on their
health data.
Electronic medical records (EMRs) are
also crucial components of digital
health. They provide healthcare
providers with easy access to patient
information, enabling them to make
informed decisions about patient care.
EMRs also reduce the likelihood of
errors associated with traditional
paper-based records.
Data analytics tools are another aspect
of digital health that is revolutionizing
the healthcare industry. These tools can
analyze large amounts of data to
identify patterns and trends that can
inform clinical decisions. They can
also be used to develop predictive
models to help healthcare providers
identify patients who are at risk of
developing certain conditions and
intervene before the condition becomes
severe.
However, The use of digital health
technologies also raises concerns about
the accuracy and reliability of health
data, as well as the potential for
technological failures.
Digital health is transforming the
healthcare industry, providing patients
with personalized care options and
improving access to care. Although
there are challenges associated with the
use of digital health technologies, the
benefits they offer are significant. As
the healthcare industry continues to
evolve, digital health will become
increasingly critical in improving
health outcomes and enhancing the
patient experience.
21
24
BLACK SPACE
TECHNOLOGY
The digital world is making healthcare
easier and more efficient. Thanks to
digital health, you can access
medical services right at the click of a button
- all without the hassle of having to be
physically present somewhere to get help
with your medical needs. Not only is digital
health incredibly convenient, but it can also
be incredibly cost-effective, particularly for
those with mobility issues or those in more
rural areas which are less likely to have
access to a doctor or a clinic nearby. For
these reasons, the use of telehealth and
telemedicine has grown significantly over the
last decade.
In recent years, telemedicine and telehealth
services have made tremendous advances in
healthcare, and these advancements have
become even more important during the
COVID-19 pandemic. More healthcare
providers are now taking advantage of
computers and smartphones to examine their
patients remotely. Furthermore, telehealth
services are becoming much more accessible,
making healthcare so much easier for
patients to access - regardless of their
location or current health status.
25
The Most innovative HealthTech companies To Watch 2023
These services really tackle the social
aspects of health, overcoming the
physical and socioeconomic obstacles
which may have otherwise prevented
folks from getting the healthcare they
need. More people are taking charge of
their own health - and this could really
make a huge difference to everyone's
well-being! The same is undoubtedly
true for the military sector too.
Telehealth gives sophisticated medical
support to military activities
throughout the world by involving
remote experts, and it serves as a
platform for developing future clinical
decision support and autonomous care
capabilities. Aside from deploying
skilled clinicians, it is the only option
that boosts local carer capacity at the
moment of need while also bringing a
global Military Health System (MHS)
together through improved
collaboration across organizational,
contextual, and geographic (for
instance, hospital versus deployed)
borders.
Founded in 2018, Black Space
Technology Ltd is leveraging the
power of cutting-edge technology to
offer scalable and future-proofed
mobile telemedicine and telehealth
solutions for military and civilians. The
medical software company has
previously implemented the civilian
telehealth solution Safe Mobile Care in
the NHS to monitor more than 10,000
NHS Long term condition patients,
leading to fewer hospital admissions. It
is now focused on delivering telehealth
and telemedicine solutions in the
military medical space.
A Medical Software Company
Black Space Technology is a medical
software company focused on military
telehealth and telemedicine. Rapid
Triage, the Android telemedicine
solution developed by Black Space
Technology, has been implemented to
deliver first-class healthcare into
remote and contested environments.
The company is committed to 'closing
the care gap' using technology to
improve casualty outcomes.
At present, Rapid Triage is being used
by the UK Ministry of Defense, the
Spanish Air force and being trialed by
the Singapore Special Forces. Another
solution the company offers is Rapid
Mobile Warrior, a wearable technology
selected for the MoD Army
Warfighting Experiment in 2020. The
solution has been developed for
monitoring soldier's fitness, biometrics,
and threats in both training and
battlefield scenarios using wearable
technology. It was commissioned by
the Defence Science and Technology
Laboratory (DSTL) as part of their
Wearable Technology Programme. The
company has also developed an
Autonomous Casualty Evacuation
System (ACES) for use with heavy lift
UAVs to deliver CASEVAC in remote
or battlefield environments when
conventional transport is unavailable or
too high risk.

telemedicine software that has been
adopted by military organizations to
improve casualty care against
competition from much larger
international tech companies. This is a
significant accomplishment for Dr.
David Morgan and Black Space
Technology.
Overcoming Challenges &
Roadblocks
Dr. David Morgan is motivated to
develop software that could improve
casualty care in challenging and
remote environments. In doing so, he
faced numerous challenges and
roadblocks. One of the challenges is
accessing decision makers as the
market is dominated by 'Primes,' slow
sale cycles, and significant compliance
barriers.
Whereas the roadblocks he
27
encountered involved his initial
experience with NHS, which was a
lack of decision-makers, dysfunctional
tender processes, and an absence of
momentum to adopt new technology.
This was demonstrated by several
COVID-19 technological disasters.
Despite all odds, he never gave up and
kept pushing forward, eventually
leading him and his company to the
great success they enjoy today.
Forming A Game Plan To Stay
Ahead
Dr. David Morgan believes that in
order to remain competitive, his
company must be agile, configurable,
hardware agnostic and identify
opportunities unavailable to larger
competitors. Consequently, they have
been directing their attention to these
areas of focus.
Furthermore, the veteran leader and his
team have been focused on one market
– the military medical pre-hospital
space, which is a novel market for
many. Understand their customers'
needs by identifying the problems
combined with early engagement of
end users are crucial in order to
implement a cost effective and
successful solution.
Combined Efforts Leads To Better
Healthcare
Being a veteran leader in the industry,
Dr. David Morgan believes that
COVID-19 was a great example of
how lack of investment in technology
prior to the pandemic resulted in a lack
of coordination and increased
morbidity and mortality. Technology
provides a great opportunity to
transform traditional reactive
healthcare into preemptive and
proactive digital healthcare delivered at
a lower cost but with better outcomes.
Healthtech allows traditional
healthcare to be delivered in a much
more scalable and cost-effective
allowing greater access to healthcare to
marginalized and deprived populations
by leveraging mobile technology.
Key Milestones
Key milestones are crucial in the
business world as they provide a sense
of direction, progress, and
achievement. They also serve as
important markers for evaluating the
success of a company's strategies and
goals, allowing businesses to identify
areas that require improvement or
further development. As the CEO of a
leading medical software company, Dr.
David Morgan has set key milestones
for his company, Black Space
Technology. This entails two further
tender wins and building a successful
company that improves casualty lives
with a view toward a trade exit in the
future.
One-Line Quote Best Describes His
Business And Vision
When asked to share a one-line quote
that best describes his approach to his
business and vision, Dr. David Morgan
stated, “How easy would it be to…
Never, never give up….”
Advise To The Budding
Entrepreneurs
Being a veteran leader and CEO of a
leading medical software company, Dr.
David Morgan advises budding
entrepreneurs, “Avoid early corporate
investment if possible, embrace and
learn from failures, don't depend on the
NHS for financial success – prove it
works in the NHS and migrate into
other healthcare markets.”

An Affordable Digital Health Care Solu on for All
CEO
In recent years, technology has been
making significant strides in various in
the healthcare industry. Healthtech
enabled companies have been revolutionizing
healthcare by introducing innovative
technologies to improve patient care and
diagnosis while giving access to more
affordable care with a significantly better
experience.
In addition, these companies were
instrumental in addressing the challenges
posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. They
played a vital role in helping healthcare
providers adapt and respond to the COVID-
19 pandemic, providing essential tools and
resources to help track the spread of the
virus, support remote patient care, and
develop vaccines and treatments.
As medical technology advances, doctors can
examine patients remotely and make accurate
diagnoses of their issues much of the time.
Using virtual technology, healthtech is
playing a significant role even in remote
areas of our country. Healthtech has progress
from employing technology to improving
patient care impact our society as a whole.

The Most innovative HealthTech companies To Watch 2023
ReviveHealth, led by Jeff Bernhard
(CEO), is one of the most innovative
healthtech companies to watch in 2023.
Jeff believes that healthtech companies
have allowed the world to open
everyone's eyes about what is possible
with virtual care when it comes to
solving and triaging medical issues. It
is hard to believe we all used to drive
to a doctor's office for an appointment
instead of just doing it from our phones
or the comfort of our own homes. This
is the most efficient use of time and
cost for the system overall and for the
patient.
Meet the Veteran Leader
Prior to the role as CEO of
ReviveHealth, Jeff was President of
ommercial arkets for Highmark BCBS.
Prior to his senior leadership role at
Highmark, he served as President of
Continental Benefits for 5 years. Most
of his career was spent working in
various leadership roles with Aetna in
numerous large markets across the
country. In his last Senior Leadership
role, as Senior Vice President of Public
and Labor for Aetna, he oversaw a
significantly large block of business
across 35 States.
Jeff actively participates in a number of
national thought leadership groups that
are concerned with novel delivery
models, initiatives for healthcare
reform, complete cost control, and
more efficient ways to change the
trajectory of medical trends. He is
extensively interested in community
affairs, serves on a number of boards,
and is an avid gardener YouTube
Channel, "The Executive Gardener".
A Whole-Person Virtual Care
Company
ReviveHealth is a whole-person virtual
care company that provides a wide
range of services for its members
across the country, ranging from
mental health therapy, primary care
appointments, prescriptions, urgent
care, glasses, and other specialty
services. Its mission is to provide
trusted, simple, affordable solutions
that improve consumers' access to
convenient healthcare and enhance a
person's overall well-being. The
company collects a low membership
fee from Employers, to cover their
employees, and there are no additional
costs for care for the members. This is
first-dollar coverage that compliments
their major medical plan, giving
members an alternative to all the outof-pocket
expenses, such as
deductibles, that they have to pay when
using their major medical plan.
Primal Challenges and Roadblocks
When questioned about the earliest
difficulties and obstacles Revive
encountered, Jeff responded,
"Employer, Consultant, and Employee
understanding of how exactly we help
their employees access care more
affordably and quicker and how we
compliment their major medical
offering."
Strategize Game Plans
Competition is always healthy for
businesses – it will force you to
innovate and transform by constantly
staying ahead of the curve. Plus, you
need to understand what your
customers (and potential customers)
value. In this competitive labor market,
Employers struggle with attracting and
retaining the best talent, while reducing
their overall medical spend. Revive
has proven to solve both for
Employers.
Similarly, at ReviveHealth, Jeff and
his team extensively research the
markets, listen to customers, identify
upcoming trends, and always try to
stay 68 months ahead of their rivals.
veteran leader believes that they have a
significant advantage because the
majority of their leaders are not from
the tech industry, but instead were
execs in the healthcare industry. The
Revive leaders have experienced,
firsthand, the significant pain points
and gaps that exist in the current
healthcare system.
Traditional Healthcare and
Healthtech Work Together for Better
Care
According to Jeff, millions of people
will have faster access to care at a
considerably lesser cost thanks to
healthtech companies like
ReviveHealth. Also, it opens greater
access to care for the millions of
Americans who reside in rural areas,
where there may not be enough
providers. Together, traditional
healthcare companies and healthtech
companies can work to improve access
and significantly, while improving
convenience, achieving higher
satisfaction levels, reducing friction
with the care experience, and being
able to afford care for 80% of everyday
care needs.
Source of Motivation
"It is simple, bringing affordable access
to care for millions of people,
regardless of their circumstances," says
Jeff. The American system is not
working for hundreds of millions of
people, and Jeff and his team help.
The veteran leader has observed that
there are 130 million people who are
"functionally uninsured." This term
means that consumers cannot afford
basic care and prescriptions because
they must meet a $3,000 annual
deductible first. In addition, patients
32
wait 3 to 4 months for appointments
for basic primary care, mental health
care, and even longer for specialty
care. This is clearly unacceptable, and
we are focused on being the solution.
Hence, ReviveHealth's members are
seen for care virtually and within one
to three days, for scheduled
appointments and within only 15-20
mins for urgent care appointments.
Again there are no copays or
deductibles, and our doctors and
therapists provide excellent care with
member satisfaction levels being above
98%.
Major Achievements
Under the leadership of Jeff,
ReviveHealth is up and running in all
50 States with a strong team of
dedicated employees. And after one
year of offering to the market, the
company has 1.1 million members
across the country. Some of the
differentiators that separate Revive
from the pack are:
• Exclusive primary and acute care
team of doctors
• Member engagement levels between
45-50% (Industry Best)
• Focus on continuity of care
• Interoperability through a bidirectional
exchange
• Owned national pharmacy
One-Line Quote that Best Describes
Approach to Business and Vision
When asked to share a one-line quote
that best describes his approach to
business and vision, Jeff replied,
"Focus on being passionate about
helping others through living and
working your mission."
Key Milestones
As the CEO of the leading virtual care
health tech company, ReviveHealth,
Jeff has set key milestones. Revive will
double in size over the next year
through organic and inorganic growth,
while helping thousands of Americans
achieve access to affordable care.
to the Budding Entrepreneurs:
Being a veteran leader in the healthcare
industry, Jeff's advice to budding
entrepreneurs, "Find something that
solves a macro problem in our system,
society, or the world. Also, do it in a
field that you have significant
experience in, so you clearly
understand all the dynamics to solve
the problem".

Gl bal
Health market scenario
The global digital health market
has been experiencing
significant growth in recent
years, thanks to the increasing adoption
of digital and communication
technologies in the healthcare industry.
According to The Tycoon Media
Research, the digital health market was
valued at USD 250.5 billion in 2022
and is expected to grow at a CAGR of
17.3% from 2023 to 2030.
Digital health encompasses a wide
range of technologies and applications
that leverage digital and
communication technologies to
enhance healthcare delivery. These
include telemedicine, mobile health,
health information technology (IT),
wearables, and personalized medicine.
These technologies have transformed
healthcare delivery by providing more
personalized and efficient healthcare
solutions.
One of the primary drivers of the
digital health market is the increasing
demand for telemedicine services.
Telemedicine refers to the delivery of
healthcare services remotely using
digital and communication
technologies. This includes virtual
consultations, remote patient
monitoring, and digital health
coaching. Telemedicine has become
increasingly popular due to its
convenience, accessibility, and costeffectiveness,
especially during the
COVID-19 pandemic when many
people are avoiding in-person visits to
healthcare facilities.
Another significant driver of the digital
health market is the adoption of mobile
health (mHealth) solutions. This
includes mobile health apps, which
allow patients to track their health and
fitness, monitor chronic conditions, and
receive real-time health information.
mHealth solutions have become
increasingly popular due to their ease
of use, accessibility, and ability to
provide personalized healthcare
solutions.
The digital health market is also seeing
significant growth in the area of health
IT. Health IT refers to the use of
technology to manage and analyze
patient health information, including
electronic health records (EHRs),
clinical decision support systems
(CDSS), and health information
exchange (HIE) platforms. Health IT
solutions have become increasingly
important in improving healthcare
quality, reducing medical errors, and
enhancing patient safety.
The wearables market is another area
of significant growth in the digital
health market. Wearables are devices
that are worn on the body, such as
smartwatches and fitness trackers, that
can track various health metrics,
including heart rate, sleep patterns, and
physical activity. Wearables have
become increasingly popular due to
their ability to provide real-time health
information and encourage individuals
to adopt healthier behaviors.
34
Finally, personalized medicine is an emerging area of growth in the digital
health market. Personalized medicine refers to the use of individual
patient data, such as genetic information, to develop more targeted and
effective treatment plans. Personalized medicine has the potential to
revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing patients with more
personalized and precise treatment options based on their unique health
profile.
The digital health market is expected to continue to grow in the coming
years, driven by the increasing adoption of telemedicine, mobile health,
health IT, wearables, and personalized medicine. These technologies have
the potential to transform the way healthcare is delivered by providing
more personalized and efficient
healthcare solutions.

R&D RIBITZKY
DIGITAL HEALTH
A Cross-Functional Global Expert In Digital Health
& Precision Medicine
“
Decade-long innovation-adoption
cycles were reduced to a few weeks
in the wake of the pandemic --
shifting healthcare's 'Center-of-Gravity' from
where providers work to where their patients
live. Our understanding of Genomics and
what we can do with it has been taken over
by Multi-Omics guiding precision diagnosis
and treatment of cancer and other devastating
conditions. And healthcare 'discovered'
Whole Person Care, Customer Experience
(CX), and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
These are just a few drivers that propelled
HealthTech to the world's top-of-mind.
And so, ample opportunity emerged for
innovators to do just that: Innovate; for
entrepreneurs to team up with investors to
create and accelerate share-holder value; for
healthcare practitioners and for those who
they serve.
For all of us.”

Meet the Multi-faceted Situational
Leader
Dr. Ron is a physician turned global
technology entrepreneur and thought
leader -- on a mission to help reduce or
eliminate the burden of disease by
accelerating the adoption of pragmatic
innovation in Digital Health and
Precision Medicine Worldwide. His
extensive cross-functional leadership
and hands-on experience developed
through working for and with leading
global brands and world-class
organizations, start-ups, R&D, and
academia in the U.S. and 26 developed
and emerging economy countries.
Throughout his ten years of clinical
practice, the multi-faceted leader
worked as a Search and Rescue Air
Force Flight Surgeon, a Primary Care
Physician in solo private practice, and
a Senior Resident in Pediatrics.
Deliberating with his Air Force base
commander about the philosophy of
science and the interaction between
humanity and technology sparked his
journey as an avid practitioner of
Applied Science. And so emerged his
life-long passion to accelerate the
transformation of scientific discovery
to solving problems worth pursuing in
health and wellness.
“In 'worth pursuing,' I mean large
scope and scale of tackling disease
burden on individuals, their families
and loved on, the communities they live
in, their nations, and beyond. In
'burden,' I mean physical, emotional,
social, economic, and political,” states
Dr. Ron. He further adds, “Nowadays,
both are commonly known as Whole
Person Care (WPC) and Social
Determinants of Health (SDoH), made
possible by Real-World Data (RWD)
and Real-World Evidence (RWE) – and
orchestrated by practicing
Personalized Medicine, Precision
Medicine, and Value-Based Care.
Intrigued by the similarity between the
foundational theory of Artificial
Intelligence, design principles driving
AI technologies, and my practicing
clinical judgment one patient at a time,
one decision at a time, I have set out to
explore the practical, real-world
opportunity to make the two work. I
sensed then and know now (for many
years…) that to be successful past the
Shiny Object, user experience has to be
won.”
Pragmatic, real-world clinician
experience has distinguished Dr. Ron's
AI system from then-leading AI
applications in medicine that
dominated the academic realm. And
the key to his success was exceptional
mentors who joined him in asking
'Why?' and 'So What?' – while defying
the 'NIH Syndrome' (Not Invented
Here) and 'This-is-how-we-havealways-done-that.’
This real-time, interactive AI system
for differential diagnosis in Pediatrics
launched his transition from clinical
practice to the Digital Health journey –
through the academic side of Medical
Informatics to healthcare enterprise IT,
commercial healthcare technologies,
and thought leadership.
And so, his full-time technology
journey started at Boston Children's
Hospital and Harvard. Dr. Ron's
Digital Health career developed rapidly
from Senior Programmer Analyst and
Clinical Views Team Leader to
Director of Applications and Acting
Director of Research Computing at
Boston Children's Hospital. Two CIO
roles later, Dr. Ron 'crossed over' to
vendor play as VP Advanced Research
at Eclipsys (an Electronic Medical
Record ISV acquired by Allscripts),
Senior Healthcare Strategist and
Worldwide Marketing Campaign
Manager of Mobile Point of Care at
Intel, Co-Founder and SVP Product
Management of SPH Analytics
(acquired by Press Ganey), among
others.
Recalling the launch of R&D Ribitzky,
Dr. Ron states, “ As demand for my
cross-functional expertise was growing
quickly, I formed R&D Ribitzky.
40
Serving consulting firms, ISVs, and
healthcare provider organizations, my
first clients were US-based. My
business has grown organically in the
US and worldwide ever since, and we
have expanded the scope of our crossfunctional
expert services to investors,
entrepreneurs, startups, corporate
venturing teams, public-sector
organizations, and academia. With
only a few exceptions, I led R&D
Ribitzky's business while serving as
CIO of two academic medical centers,
Symphony Health Solutions (acquired
by PRA then ICON).”
He further adds, “While doing all this,
my academic career developed from
Clinical Instructor, Pediatrics to
Visiting Scientist Artificial Intelligence
at Weizmann Institute of Science
Applied Mathematics and IBM Science
Center (Israel); Research Fellow at
Harvard Medical School, Preceptor at
Harvard School of Public Health,
Assistant Professor Pediatrics at
UMass Medical School, Assistant
Professor at Emory School of Public
Health Center for Clinical Evaluation
Sciences, and Visiting Professor at
Kigali Institute of Science &
Technology Rockefeller Center for
eHealth, and Kigali Health Institute
(Rwanda).”
Innovator's True North
During the early stages of R&D
Ribitzky's formation and growth, there
were no problems or roadblocks. Dr.
Ron attributes the demand creation and
lead generation aspects of this smooth
start to his co-branding as a Harvard
Officer and member of the leadership
team of an innovative healthcare IT
team at Boston Children's Hospital.
“I'm an intuitive pragmatic innovator”
says Dr. Ron. “I embed myself and my
team in the problem space and the
value of solving it. This is our
compass. And we partner with our
clients to find the True North for them
and for the people they serve. This is
the hallmark of R&D Ribitzky” he
adds, “I leave innovation for
innovation's sake to others.”
[QUOTE from LinkedIn]
“One of Ron's major skills is to view
things in a different light than anyone
else previously has and to see the path
to solutions where none had been
available before”
-- Peer, Harvard
His success executing throughout the
engagement and fulfilment cycle was
founded on his experience as an Air
Force Flight Surgeon and Clinic
Commander, that required focus and
precision. And the multi-faceted
leader's ten years of experience as a
clinician complemented his credibility
as a cross-functional expert who
thrives under uncertainty and
opportunity to innovate.
Diversification Is Coded In Its DNA
“Diversification is inherent in our cross
functional expertise and hands on
experience. It is 'coded' in our DNA.
And this is the 'engine' that keeps on
attracting repeat and new clients,”
says Dr. Ron. Tackling competition is
tied to this cross-functionalthroughout-the-lifecycle
DNA that is
coded deep in R&D Ribitzky, its
demonstrable capability to play in the
'Big-Idea' as well as turning it to action
and outcome, and the capital efficiency
its clients appreciate.
According to Dr. Ron, conventional
consulting businesses have a lot of
overhead. In an effort to match R&D
Ribitzky's qualifications, they also
provide a clinician who may have
some technological understanding, a
technologist who may have some
healthcare knowledge, and a marketing
specialist who may have some
knowledge of both healthcare and
technology. They now need to
designate a project manager to oversee
this three-person team.
Traditional Healthcare And
Healthtech Can Work Together
Theoretically, healthcare
organizations—both payers and
providers—should seize the
opportunities that HealthTech presents
because of what they have to give. Yet
in practice, they shouldn't jump at
these opportunities without thinking
first. They should think about it not as
a technology implementation – but as a
technology implant. They should
consider it not because of what
technology can accomplish, but rather
because of what it ought to do.
According to Dr. Ron, in practice, both
healthcare organizations and
HealthTech should qualify each and
every such opportunity through these
lenses:
1. How does it work for the user – endto-end?
2.Should they trust the data throughout
this end-to-end?
3.What would be the Return-on-
Adoption strategy and tracking?
Digital Health Is a Two-Edged
Sword
As a key player in the healthcare
industry, Dr. Ron believes that the
acceleration in Digital Health is a twoedged
sword. Innovation is fascinating,
and with it comes false hopes past the
Shiny Object. It is similar to clinical
trials. You make promising progress as
you move from Phase I to Phase II.
Individuals become energized and
41
hopeful. Most then fall short in the
Phase III transition. The two
formidable barriers to achieving not
only sustainable, but progressively
growing Return-on-Adoption of
innovative Digital Health and Precision
Medicine solutions past the
'Propaganda Phase' are User
Experience (UX) and interoperability.
The two are tightly interrelated – and
critically interdependent.

ABOUT THE INNOVATION
Theoretical knowledge online is what most universities have
achieved, but practical training online so far seems unique.
We are building tools to auto-generate (convert) text-based
content to video-based online content with an extension
towards gamification and immersive techniques for advanced
pieces of training.
WHAT WE DO?
Using AI-based text classification methods, we can identify
the context of the content and make queries to public video
media libraries using APIs. These can be given back to the
teachers as an assisted course creation tool to develop
interactive digital media lessons for their students.
