Family Story
“Due to pregnancy complications, we made
the decision to deliver our second child,
Tate, at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s
Hospital - two hours from our home in
Florence. Born at 36 weeks, Tate required
immediate medical attention and was
admitted to the NICU, where he spent the
next two months undergoing four surgeries
and numerous tests and scans.
Thanks to Ronald McDonald House Charities
of Charleston, our family of four was able to
stay together during this incredibly difficult
time. We were provided with a place to stay,
nourishing meals, and - most importantly -
a compassionate community that offered
support when we needed it most.”
We are grateful to our corporate
Business Partners who continue to make
a difference through their generosity.

As I reflect on this past year, I’m fi lled with gratitude. Your compassion, time, and support have
helped us serve hundreds of families when they needed us most. Whether you volunteered,
gave, or shared our mission — thank you. Your impact is truly felt.
This year, we took a bold step forward with our Expanding Hope Capital Campaign — our most
ambitious effort yet. After years of turning away over 500 families annually due to lack of space,
we’re expanding. On June 26, we offi cially broke ground on our Expansion, located next door,
beginning the construction preparation of a space that will more than double our capacity.
The new expansion will include:
• Private bedrooms with bathrooms
• Playrooms for all ages
• Kitchens, dining areas, and quiet zones
• Classrooms, laundry on every floor, and outdoor patios
• Every space is designed with dignity and care — shaped by the families we serve and built
by a community that believes every family deserves a place to stay during a medical crisis.
Our campaign is well underway, but we still need your help to fi nish strong. Naming
opportunities are available — a lasting way to show your support and love.
Together, we can make sure no family is ever turned away again.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kathy ‘kp’ Papadimitriou
