Dr. Dean Nicholas

DEAN NICHOLAS

Head of School

With nearly three decades at CHCA to his name, Dr. Dean Nicholas

has dedicated his career to helping students uncover their gifts and

connect with Christ in meaningful ways. A Bible scholar by training,

he has encouraged our community to deepen relationships with

Christ through intentional application of Scripture. Dr. Nicholas

assumed his current position in 2021 after serving CHCA as a

Teacher, Principal, and Assistant Head of School.

As Head of School, Dr. Nicholas reports to the Board of Trustees.

CHCA is proud to have a dedicated

security team comprised of retired

Cincinnati police officers who bring

decades of experience and a deep

commitment to keeping our school

community safe. Their presence

reflects our priority to provide a secure,

welcoming environment for every

student and family.

In today’s marketplace, innovation is key. Our Entrepreneurship &

Sustainability program focuses on developing a growth mindset in all

learners while instilling principles for living a life of balance. Inspired

by Romans 12:2, this approach cultivates grit, builds resilience, and

prepares students for success in any field.

GREENHOUSE

• With more than 4,000 square feet of

growing space, the greenhouse grows

lettuce, tomatoes, herbs, melons and

more sold to local businesses and

the community through Eagle Farms,

our marketplace.

TEACHING KITCHEN

• Our teaching kitchen is a

commercial-grade culinary space

equipped with a full gas range, double

stacked convection oven, induction

burners, a wood-fired oven,

and a gas grill.

STUDENT-RUN BUSINESSES

• At MSL Campus, you’ll find The Leaning

Eagle, our permanent coffee bar, as well

as Eagle Farms, the CHCA Supper Club, and

a wood-fired pizza biz. Younger students

at Founders’ Campus enjoy the Mini Cup,

a micro version of The Leaning Eagle.

Arts Signature Events

We were made to be creative. Through the performing and visual arts, our

students nurture and refine their God-given talent for artistic expression

so they can bring their stories to life. From our littlest creatives to our most

advanced artists, we intentionally seek innovative ways to engage students

and provide opportunities to experience the arts at all levels.

CELEBRATE THE ARTS WEEK

• Each fall our campuses spend one week

of intentional focus on Arts education.

FINE ARTS HALL OF FAME

• Every year our Hall of Fame honors

select former Arts students, faculty

and staff, and longtime supporters

whose dedication to their craft and

the CHCA Arts embodies the essence

of our program.

SACRED MUSIC CONCERT

• Held every other year, Sacred Music

is a high church experience that brings

together our Upper School music

ensembles for a holy time of praise

in a reverential setting.

ARTBEAT

• A day-long arts festival, ArtBeat showcases

our students’ talents through visual arts

displays, on-stage performances, live artist

demonstrations, and more.

Robotics By Grade

Technology meets competition in our Robotics program. Beginning in

kindergarten, students are introduced to the world of coding, sequencing,

CAD, and more through age-appropriate, engaging lessons. Once they reach

Upper School, students can further their tech know-how through electives

and by joining The Beak Squad, our internationally ranked robotics team.

LOWER ELEMENTARY

(North Campus, Grade 3; Armleder, Grades 3–5)

• As part of the Wonder League Robotics

Competition, students implement coding,

design, and teamwork to navigate storybased

missions with Dash robots.

UPPER ELEMENTARY

(North Campus, Grades 4–6)

• Non-competitive and competitive

teams use VEX IQ Robotics to address

real-world problems as they build a

robot from scratch.

UPPER SCHOOL (Grades 7–12)

• Part of the FIRST® Robotics program and

competition, our Beak Squad robotics

team combines engineering with

marketing, brand identity, and more to

build, program, and operate a 100-plus

pound robot for international competition.

details regarding academic policies, student expectations,

dress code, safety procedures, and more can be found

We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to review

the handbook thoroughly to ensure a smooth and informed

experience throughout the school year.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

Should inclement weather affect school

openings and closings, you will be notified

by phone call and text message. Delays and

closings will also be posted on our website

and social media.

Review your contact information in the

Parent Portal to ensure we have your

correct phone number and email address.

Note: Delays and cancellations for afterschool

activities are at the discretion of

individual coaches, teachers, and leaders.

If you have questions regarding your child’s

attendance at these activities, please contact

your coach or program leader directly.

STUDENT CONDUCT & DRESS CODE

We believe how students present

themselves reflects who they are

becoming—scholars, leaders, and young

people of influence. Our expectations for

student conduct and dress are rooted in

respect, responsibility, and a desire to

honor God in all things.

PRE-K 3–GRADE 6: Students wear uniforms

that promote a focused, distraction-free

learning environment.

GRADES 7–12: Students follow a dress

code designed to allow individuality while

upholding a community standard. The

spirit of the dress code is to help students

remember who they are in Christ, that how

they present themselves affects how they

are perceived, and that their appearance

should reflect the respect they deserve.

We ask parents to partner with us

by ensuring students leave home in

compliance with these standards. As

students grow in independence, occasional

redirection may be needed, and we are

committed to working with families in a

spirit of grace and accountability.

DRESS CODE GUIDELINES (GRADES 7–12)

• No tops that reveal undergarments or

reveal the midriff or cleavage when sitting,

standing, or bending over.

• No clothes that reveal undergarments

when sitting, standing, or bending over.

• No open back shirts.

• Yoga pants must be worn with a long top.

• Shorts, skirts, and dresses must fall

below mid-thigh when sitting, standing,

or bending over.

• Pants must be worn no lower than the

hip bone and must not drop below when

sitting, standing, or bending over.

• No pajamas or blankets worn as clothing.

• No head coverings, hats, hoods,

sweatbands, or bandanas except on special

spirit days.

• Piercings are limited to small holes.

Nose studs may be worn but no rings,

chains, etc. No gauges or expanders.

• No jewelry, clothing, or other items with

obscene, violent, gang, tobacco, drug,

alcohol-related, or degrading messages

or images.

Students not in compliance may be subject

to consequences as outlined in the CHCA

Family Handbook.

UNIFORM EXCHANGE PROGRAM

(PRE-K 3–GRADE 6)

Whether your child has outgrown their

current size or you’re looking to save on

school essentials, CHCA’s Uniform Exchange

Program is a convenient and sustainable

way to keep your student’s closet stocked

with school-approved uniform pieces.

Through the program, families can

donate clean, gently used uniform items

and pick up what they need—free of

charge. It’s a simple way to support one

another and ensure every student is

equipped for success.

Uniform Exchange events are held

periodically throughout the year. Watch the

Campus Connection and Parent Portal for

upcoming dates and details.

Carpool &

Transportation

To support families, CHCA provides

tools and resources to help coordinate

carpools, including campus-specific

traffic flow maps and guidelines. You

can find detailed information, including

arrival and dismissal procedures, on our

website at chca-oh.org/transportation.

SCHOLARSHIP GRANTING

ORGANIZATION (SGO)

Did you know you can fund academic

scholarships at CHCA with your tax

dollars? When you give to our school

through the Ohio Christian Education

Network SGO, your donation* is eligible

for a dollar-for-dollar credit toward your

Ohio state tax liability. (*Up to $750 for

a single filer and $1,500 for a married

couple filing jointly)

You can also engage by participating in

events like Giving Kickoff and 30 Hours of

Gratitude & Giving, or by connecting with

our Development Team to explore how your

support can impact specific areas such

as Academics, the Arts, Athletics, Faith &

Service, Entrepreneurship, and Robotics.

With so many activities happening throughout the year, it can be

easy to forget important administrative tasks.

Here’s what you need to know to ensure the business side of your CHCA

experience runs smoothly.

REENROLLMENT DATES

It’s never too early to start thinking

about the future. Mark your calendar for

our reenrollment days so you can secure

your student’s spot for next year.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2026

TUITION & BILLING

CHCA uses FACTS Management Company

for all tuition billing and payments. If you

haven’t done so already, log in to your

Parent Portal to create your FACTS account.

When you enroll, you can select a FACTS

payment plan option—annual, semiannual,

monthly, quarterly, or payroll

deduction (for CHCA employees only)—

that works best for you and your family.

The first payment for the next school

year is due on June 15.

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS

We believe all students deserve access to

a world-class, Christ-centered education.

That’s why we are intentional in pursuing

financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

ASSISTANCE OPTIONS

• FAST Application

– A third-party financial aid evaluator that

determines student need.

• OCEN SGO

– A program through the state of Ohio

that funds academic scholarships at K–12

schools through redirected tax dollars.

• EdChoice

– A state-funded program that provides

tuition support based on public school

district or household income.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

• The Cum Laude Scholarship

– A merit scholarship for Grades 7–12

students who demonstrate academic

excellence on multiple levels, including

a qualifying ISEE score and strong

classroom performance.
