Hello and Welcome!
Beaconsfield holds such a special place in my
heart. The idea for this magazine was born
when my youngest son found a true home at
Beaconsfield School, where his love for music
was encouraged after a challenging time
elsewhere. That kindness sparked the journey
of what began as an offshoot of GX Local,
named Beaconsfield Local and, in 2020, became
Beaconsfield Together.

COMMUNITY NEWS
The Mayor of
Beaconsfield -
serving with pride
and purpose
Beaconsfield’s Mayor, Anita Cranmer, a
long-standing councillor of over 20 years,
has stepped back into the mayoral role
not out of personal ambition, but from
a sense of duty. Following a complete
change in the Town Council earlier this
year, she was asked to guide the new
team through their first year.
Having lived in Beaconsfield for more
than two decades, the Mayor has seen
great change and is passionate about
maintaining the town’s attractiveness,
vibrancy, and community spirit. Her top
priorities are keeping the town clean
and well-maintained, supporting, and
encouraging strong community connections
across all age groups.
Plans include revitalising the local business
network, encouraging more independent
and pop-up shops, and creating a Youth
Council to give young people a stronger
voice. She also hopes to establish a central
volunteer hub, potentially within a revitalised
Alex Dunlop (Deputy Mayor) and Anita Cranmer (Mayor of
Beaconsfield) recently elected.
Town Hall, to connect residents with
opportunities to serve.
Community events are high on her agenda.
She aims to bring back greater ceremony to
civic occasions, with the annual Civic Service
on 25th October being a key highlight.
The Mayor has already attended around 25
events since May, including school fairs,
business openings, and care home visits.
Her chosen charities for the year are the
Florence Nightingale Hospice and the
NSPCC. Major fundraising activities include a
Desert Island Films Night on 5th October with
the Beaconsfield Film Society, and the Town’s
Autumn Event on 13th September, on the
Town Green, where the hospice will have a
strong presence.
With a long marriage, 5 grown children, 11
grandchildren and life on two continents,
USA and Great Britain, the mayor is no
stranger to commitment and community.
Anita served as cabinet member for
Children’s services on Buckinghamshire
council for 5 years overseeing Education and
Childrens services in the county. She invites
residents to share ideas for improving the
town - from business initiatives to cultural
projects - and emphasises that constructive
feedback is always welcome.
“It’s a privilege to serve,” she says.
“Beaconsfield deserves the very best - and
together, we can make it happen.”

Dear neighbour,
I’m inviting you to experience something completely new and
honestly, there’s nothing else like it around here.
BEAR is a 14-seat chef’s table I’ve created to be different.
More personal. More daring. It’s been shaped by everywhere I’ve
cooked, everywhere I’ve travelled, and everything I love about food.
Expect a seasonal menu packed with bold flavours, wild creativity,
and ingredients foraged and sourced with real care. Some dishes will
surprise you. Some you might not even believe until you taste them.
But every plate is designed to spark something, curiosity and
conversation long after the night ends.

It’s a front-row seat to the process, the passion, the moments you

FINANCIAL ADVICE
When love isn’t legally protected
Making a Will is a final loving act for
those you truly care about.
A recent Will Aid survey found that 56% of UK
adults don’t have a Will. Furthermore, many
married couples assume their spouse will
automatically inherit everything when they
die, but the reality is much more complex,
particularly when children are involved.
A local couple, let’s call them John and Mary,
had been happily married for over twenty
years with one son, when John passed away
unexpectedly in 2023. While grieving, the
family assumed the legal arrangements would
be straightforward, despite John having been
reluctant to make a Will because he and Mary
were married.
equally between herself and their son. Given
local house prices, Mary couldn’t afford to buy
out her son’s share of the family home.
We’re helping the family explore options to
keep Mary in her home. Fortunately, their
son is an adult and can participate in these
discussions, however had he been under
eighteen years of age, the situation would
have been far more complex.
Talking about death isn’t easy, however a
properly written Will can spare your loved
ones unnecessary distress. Talk to us to
create a Will that protects the
people you care about most.
Without a Will, intestacy rules applied and
Mary was only entitled to the first £270,000
of John’s estate, with anything above split

EYE NEWS
Look stylish
this Autumn
Glasses are no longer just a vision aid -
they’re a powerful statement of fashion
and who you are.
Experimenting with different shapes and
colours allows you to express your personality
and switch up your look with ease. Round
frames offer a vintage vibe, while square or
rectangular shapes add a modern, structured
touch. Cat-eye frames bring a fun, retro flair,
perfect for bold fashion lovers.
Colour plays a very important role. Classic
black or tortoiseshell frames will always be
versatile and timeless, while bright hues like
red, blue, or pastel tones can add a pop of
personality and fun. Transparent or two-tone
frames offer a contemporary twist for those
wanting something subtle yet stylish. The new
transparents have a hint of soft colour such as
grey or sand and are much softer than the stark
clear frames of a couple of years ago.
Having a variety of glasses in different shapes
and colours gives you flexibility to match your
mood, outfit, or occasion. The right pair of
glasses can complete your look and make you
feel confident.

A Trip Down Memory
Lane - Remembering
8 Wonderful Years
In 2017, Beaconsfield Local began as an offshoot of
GX Local, printed for many years by my dear friend
Kay Hicks. From those early days to the creation of
Community Together and the birth of the ‘Together’
brand, Beaconsfield Together became the first of our
community magazines, uniting people in a spirit of
sharing and collaboration.
Heartfelt thanks for unwavering support go to: Mat Peet,
Alex Dunlop, Jeannette Buckle, Dick Smith, Janine and
Ingmar Heil, Anita Cranmer, Alexa Collins, Nick Downie
Helen Gilbert, Hina Khan, Matthew Hill. Huge gratitude
to my partner David for putting up with a lot, my papa who
was chief proof reader for many years, my mum for giving
me life and to my wonderful friends Maura Buckland and
Brian Newman-Smith from Bekonscot Model Village.
These years have brought treasured connections,
conversations, and introductions - it has been a joy.
Thank you to everyone who has written, read, and
promoted the magazine for us.
Enjoy these photo
memories– and here’s
to the next eight years!
With love,
Therese

What’s been happening at
Beaconsfield Town Council?
We recently had a by-election in the
North Ward which was keenly fought,
showing that local democracy is very a
ctive. The result was that we have
welcomed Cllr Lorna Shaw on returning
to the Town Council and we now have a
full complement of 16 councillors again.
Due to adverse weather in June we sadly had
to postpone our ‘Summer on the Green’ event
– Beaconsfield Town Council is now proud to
announce that we have rescheduled and aptly
renamed our event ‘September on the Green’.
The FREE to attend event will be held on the
Town Hall Green on Saturday 13th September
2025 – between 12noon and 3pm.
The event will be officially opened by Mayor
Cllr Anita Cranmer and Town Crier Richard
‘Dick’ Smith at 12noon (3pm close) and will
include a Concert Band, Music, Food Stalls,
Ice-Cream, Candy Floss, Mobile Bar, Bubbles,
Face Painting, Classic Cars, Old fashioned
Coconut Shy, Councillors Tombola Stall, and a
‘Secret’ Competition – a family fun-filled day!
This event’s proceeds will be donated to the
Mayor’s Charities.
Check out the gallery on our website to see last
year’s event & get a flavour of what to expect!
Please do come along to support and enjoy
– all welcome!
Cllr Anita Cranmer was overwhelmed by the
support from local business who generously
donated prizes for the Councillor’s Tombola.
Come along to the event and see if you win
one of these wonderful prizes.

GARDENING
Autumn Glow: 5 essential September &
October gardening tips
As the days shorten and a crispness
fills the air, it’s time to prepare your
garden for the cooler months ahead while
celebrating the final harvest. To get your
garden ready for autumn and beyond,
here are five essential tips:
Celebrate the Harvest: Now is the time to
gather in the last of your summer bounty.
Harvest pumpkins, squash, and maincrop
potatoes before the first frost hits, ensuring
your hard work doesn’t go to waste.
Plant for Spring Colour: Start thinking ahead!
September and October are the perfect
months to plant spring-flowering bulbs like
daffodils, crocuses, and hyacinths. This will
reward you with a vibrant display next year.
Tackle Your Tidying: Keep on top of fallen
leaves by raking them from your lawn and
borders. You can use this organic matter to
create leaf mould, a fantastic soil improver for
next season.
Tidy and Prune: Cut back old foliage from
summer perennials and deadhead late-blooming
flowers to keep your garden looking neat.
However, leave some seed heads for the birds
to enjoy.
Look After Your Soil: Don’t leave your soil
bare! Cover it with a generous layer of mulch
or sow a green manure to protect it from winter
weather, enrich it with nutrients and suppress
weeds.
Lawn Care: Give your lawn one last mow with
the blades set high to leave the grass slightly
longer for winter. You can also aerate and
scarify your lawn now to improve drainage and
get it ready for spring.

The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into human minds.
Let Light descend on Earth.
From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into human hearts.
May the Coming One* return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide all little human wills -
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the human race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

* Many religions believe in a World Teacher, a “Coming One”, knowing him under such names as Christ, Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the
Kalki Avatar and the Bodhisattva. These terms are sometimes used in versions of the Great Invocation for people of specific faiths.
The Great Invocation:
a prayer for peace
and healing
In a world increasingly impacted by war,
natural disasters, and division, The Great
Invocation stands as a powerful prayer
for unity and transformation.
This universal invocation calls upon divine energies of
Light, Love, and Purpose to uplift humanity and bring
peace to the Earth.
Free from religious boundaries, it is a spiritual call that
resonates with people of all beliefs. Its purpose is to
awaken wisdom in minds, compassion in hearts, and
alignment with a higher divine Plan. When recited
with clarity and intention, the invocation becomes
a radiant force for good - helping to purify negativity,
calm emotional turbulence, and infuse our world with
peace.
Whether spoken in solitude or as part of a group
effort, this prayer can direct healing energy where
it is needed most. By visualizing light enveloping
the planet and invoking blessings for all beings, we
become channels for spiritual grace and healing.
Through The Great Invocation, we can each
contribute to a more compassionate, harmonious,
and peaceful world.
If you believe in wishing for peace - not only in the
world but also in Beaconsfield and the surrounding
areas - why not recite the Great Invocation daily with
those intentions in mind?

Safe & gentle ear wax

Microsuctioning
At Hearwego Clinic we provide instant and effective ear wax removal treatment. Microsuction is the gold
standard method of ear wax removal.
Unlike traditional ear syringing or irrigation, which uses water, microsuction uses gentle suction to remove
ear wax. This is a safe, gentle and effective method of ear wax removal and, in the majority of cases, provides
instant relief and immediately restores full hearing. Our Audiologists are trained in all methods of ear wax
removal, microsuction, ear irrigation (commonly known as ear syringing) and instrumentation.
What to expect at your appointment
At Hearwego our practitioners will use a microscope to see a detailed view of your ear canal and examine
the potential build-up of ear wax. Ear wax and debris are removed using a gentle device. Our appointments
include an examination of your ears and removal of ear wax using microsuction, which typically lasts between
10-30 minutes. Depending on the consistency of the wax, we may need to revert to ear irrigation (commonly
known as ear syringing) or instrumentation. In rare cases, a follow-up visit may be required to remove
particularly stubborn ear wax.
Are you experiencing any of the following?
• Pressure in the ears
• Blocked feeling in the ears
• Need to pop your ears but can’t
• Sudden loss of hearing or muffles sound
• Hearing aids whistling
• Underperforming hearing aids
