INTRODUCTION

Letter from the President

Dear District Board of Trustees, Seahawk Family and our Broward Community,

An ever-changing world creates new challenges for higher education, but Broward College is adapting and

flourishing, all while working to be the first choice for graduating seniors, adult learners, families, and the

community. We serve more than 51,000 students annually and provide them with high-quality educational

programs that will prepare them for success in their careers. But we are always aiming our sights even

higher to become the #1 destination for academic excellence.

Broward College is vibrant and thriving. Our student body comes from all walks of life—about 16 percent

are first-time-in-college students and nearly 52 percent are first generation in college. Our course success

rate rose to roughly 78 percent, up from just over 75 percent in 2023. Additionally, in this academic year,

we conferred more than 10,000 credentials to 7,500 graduates. For the first time, we sent a letter to

17,000 graduating high school seniors to encourage them to make Broward College their first choice in

higher education. The Broward College Foundation has also worked to ensure that the dream of a college

education is within reach for those who desire it, and this year it distributed nearly $4 million in scholarship

funds to more than 3,000 students. But numbers only tell part of the story, because all these statistics are

not possible without the achievements of our students as well as the dedication of our faculty and staff.

Broward College values the Seahawk family. I hosted a series of fireside chats with faculty and staff

to hear directly from them about how to improve our institution. Additionally, our faculty and staff, in

partnership with our District Board of Trustees, are committed to listening to our students and providing

them with the support they need so they can flourish during their time at the College. I also hosted student

forums on all three of our main campuses to hear directly from students about how we can improve College

services, and we have already begun exploring some of their suggestions.

Broward College is innovating. As always, the College is focused on ensuring that its academic offerings

keep pace with the needs of the industries in which our graduates will be working. One example of that

is our newest degree program, the Associate of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence, which launches

this fall. We are also dedicated to providing state-of-the art learning spaces for students, whether it’s the

Health Sciences Simulation Center at the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus in Davie, or the flight and air

traffic control simulators at the Emil Buehler Aviation Institute at the Judson A. Samuels South Campus

in Pembroke Pines. Looking to the future, we successfully secured $7.7 million in appropriations from

the state legislature to expand nursing, health sciences and STEM student stations on our North Campus.

Collectively, these spaces equip our students with the knowledge and skills that will help them soar

in the workforce.

Broward College is fiscally strong. Our District Board of Trustees demonstrated their fiscal stewardship

and supported a $256 million student-centered budget for our institution. Our current budget reflects

several investments that ensure we will deliver high-quality academic programs, strengthen student

learning and outcomes, and support our employees. I see our dedicated faculty, staff and our exceptional

students as critical partners on this shared journey. There is no limit to what we can accomplish through

dedication and collaboration. In my time so far as President, I have seen the myriad ways that a Broward

College education is transforming lives and powering our local economy. I am excited about everything we

are going to create together as we take Broward College to the next level.

Go Seahawks!

have assisted 3,072 individuals.

• The College also launched a

cybersecurity education initiative,

offering workshops and online

resources to promote safe and

informed technology use for all.

Advancing Achievements

Through Transfer Pathways

At Broward College, 2+2 articulation

programs have created seamless

transfer opportunities for students

to move to other institutions across

the state and country. These

partnerships allow students who

have earned an associate degree to

transfer their credits and continue

their academic journeys toward

bachelor’s and graduate degrees.

They expand academic options while

reducing the time and cost required

to earn a four-year degree.

In 2024–25, Broward College

strengthened its 2+2 programs

by adding six new agreements

with four institutions that facilitate

students who have earned an

Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate

of Science (A.S.) to transfer to a

bachelor’s degree.

New or Updated Articulation Agreements (2024–25):

A.S. in Hospitality Management → B.S. in Hospitality

Management

A.S. in New Media Communication → B.A. in Public Relations,

38 Total Articulation Agreements across the United States

Job-Ready

Graduates

Broward College is known for

empowering students to take the

next step in their careers through

dedicated job placement services

and employer partnerships. In

2024–25, the College supported

492 student job placements across

several industries, connecting

students directly to hiring partners

through platforms like Handshake

and Internship EDGE.

Students also advanced their

workforce readiness by earning 273

Florida Ready to Work Soft Skills

on communication, problem-solving,

and professionalism.

2024-25 Annual Report 19

Offering Career

Connections

Through Internships

Internships at Broward College go

beyond resume building—they offer

meaningful, real-world experience that

supports long-term career growth. In

the last year, 145 students were placed

in internships across sectors including

hospitality, IT, government, health care,

and media.

Signature partnerships provide

unique pathways for students to grow

professionally. Broward College students

gained new personal and professional

growth through a renewed partnership

with the Disney College Internship

Program, following a pause during

the pandemic. In the last year, the

partnership has been re-engaged,

which has facilitated the placement

of 25 students across Walt Disney

World properties.

Participants worked in casting,

merchandising, resort concierge, and

food and beverage, applying classroom

knowledge in one of the most dynamic

hospitality environments in the world.

Another 25 students are set to begin

their internships in fall 2025, reflecting

Broward College’s continued focus

on experiential learning, professional

readiness, and student success.

This approach ensures that learning

extends beyond the classroom and into

the real world.
