BIBLICAL PESTILENCES ON THE LOOSE? FLESH-EATING
SCREWWORMS AND END TIMES PLAGUES
https://mycharisma.com/news/biblical-pestilences-on-the-loose-flesh-eating-screwwormsand-end-times-plagues/
Are we seeing the signs of some biblical pestilences coming to life right
now? According to NBC News, the first known human case of someone
with the screwworm has been found in the United States. The cause of
this flesh-eating parasite to be detected in a human being is believed to
be due to the person’s travels to El Salvador.
2 | P a g e
Andrew G. Nixon, the spokesperson for Health and Human Services says
that right now, “The risk to public health in the United States from this
introduction is very low.” Previously, Reuters reported that a person in
Maryland acquired the parasite while visiting Guatemala as well.
The screwworm, which is the larvae of the screwworm fly, is also known
for destroying herds of cattle, especially in Central America and Mexico,
with the potential to kill both wildlife and domestic pets. In order to
prevent the spread of the screwworm, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture
Brooke L. Rollins visited Texas earlier in the month to discuss ways to fight
an invasion of the screwworm into the United States. As of right now, this
plan includes breeding sterile flies and releasing them in the air toward
the Texas and Mexico border so that infected flies will mate with the
sterile ones, stopping the spread of the disease as the flies die out.
As beef prices in America have continued to rise over the past year, the
last thing that the United States needs is infected cattle. ABC News
reported that ground beef is up 11.5% with steak up 12% with drought
as one of the causes for price increase. The USDA also cited outbreaks of
the screwworm as one of the reasons the U.S. government is putting beef
imports from Mexico on pause.
As we observe events like the emergence of the flesh-eating screwworm
in the United States, it’s worth considering them through the lens of
biblical prophecy. Scripture warns that in the last days, pestilences and
diseases will increase, affecting both humans and animals. Take a look at
what we’ve already seen with deer, squirrels, rabbits and pigs being
affected by odd conditions. Even the plague has been reported in
California. While many focus on dramatic end-times signs like the mark
3 | P a g e
of the beast, the Bible also speaks to the more subtle ways life will be
disrupted: Sickness and famine will occur in unprecedented ways.
The spread of parasites like the screwworm reminds us that these
warnings are not only spiritual but practical. This unfolding reality calls
believers to be vigilant, prayerful, and wise recognizing that the signs of
the times are increasingly evident not only in moral and spiritual decline
but in the very fabric of our physical world.

WORLD COUNCIL FOR HEALTH DECLARES MRNA INJECTIONS
ARE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION
https://expose-news.com/2025/09/02/mrna-injections-are-weaponsof-mass-destruction
Earlier this year, Dr. Joseph Sansone drafted a bill, the ‘Sansone mRNA
Bioweapons Prohibition Act’, for all 50 states in the USA, and other
countries, to introduce into their respective legislatures. It
was introduced in the Minnesota legislature in April 2025.
Dr. Sansone’s proposed legislation is groundbreaking because it is the
first proposed legislation that recognizes that mRNA nanoparticle
injections are already illegal according to existing state laws regarding
bioweapons or weapons of mass destruction, and it creates a criminal
and civil offence for non-enforcement.
Yesterday, the World Council for Health Florida announced that they are
endorsing Dr. Sansone’s proposed bill.
By Dr. Joseph Sansone
The World Council for Health Florida appears to be the first
medical/health freedom organization to declare mRNA nanoparticle
injections as biological and technological weapons of mass destruction,
and the first such organization to endorse the ‘Sansone mRNA
Bioweapons Prohibition Act’.
This is breaking news. It is posted on their Substack, but not on their
website yet. [Note from The Exposé: The announcement has now
been posted onto the website.] Only support organizations with the
courage to tell the truth! I am not a speaker, but will be attending as a

World Council for Health Florida Declares MRNA Nanoparticle Injections
Biological and Technological Weapons of Mass Destruction
The following is a Press Release published by World Council for Health
Florida’s Substack page on 1 September 2025. The World Council for
Health Florida is a grassroots movement that emerged in May 2024 in
response to the covid pandemic. It is part of the global World Council for
Health group of organizations, a collaboration of local councils in 35
countries.
The World Council for Health Florida (“WCH FL”) officially declares:
mRNA nanoparticle injections are biological and technological weapons
of mass destruction that have caused a massive amount of disease,
disability and death, and without intervention, this will continue into the
foreseeable future.
The World Council for Health Florida is therefore endorsing the ‘Sansone
mRNA Bioweapons Prohibition Act’ and calls upon legislators to support
this proposed bill.
In an official health bulletin, the Florida Department of Health has stated
that mRNA is not safe for human use and is a potential threat to the
human genome. [i] [ii] More recently, in an official press release and an
official press video statement, the United States Department of Health
and Human Services has stated “mRNA vaccines don’t perform well for
upper respiratory tract viruses” and that the “mRNA technology poses
more risk than benefits for these respiratory viruses”. [iii] [iv]
11 | P a g e
In addition, an explosive new peer-reviewed journal article with multiple
prominent researchers shows that covid-19 and covid-19 “vaccines”
violate the Biological Weapons Convention,[v] it is incumbent upon the
Governor and Attorney General of the State of Florida to enforce Fla. Stat.
790.166 Weapons of Mass Destruction.
The Sansone MRNA Bioweapons Prohibition Act is unique in that it
recognizes that mRNA products are already illegal according to existing
biological weapons and weapons of mass destruction laws. The bill also
creates a criminal and civil liability for government officials for nonenforcement.
Marivic Villa, MD, Chair of the World Council for Health Florida, is
treating thousands of mRNA injection victims at her clinic in the Villages
in central Florida, which is the largest senior living community in the
United States. Dr. Villa has spoken in multiple public venues advocating
for the victims of the mRNA injections and has routinely called them
bioweapons.
On 29 July 2024, Dr. Villa had previously declared that the mRNA
injections are bioweapons, while speaking alongside Florida Surgeon
General Dr. Joseph Ladapo. The event was hosted for the Lee County
Republican Assembly, by Dr. Joseph Sansone, author of the proposed bill.
Also speaking was Andrew Zywiec, MD, who also declared the mRNA
injections as bioweapons. Dr. Zywiec is also an advisor to WCH FL.
Sansone created 50 state versions of the bill, including a federal version.
The bill has been introduced into the Minnesota legislature by
Representative Shane Mekeland.
12 | P a g e
The World Council for Health Florida is the first health freedom
organization to declare mRNA injections as biological and technological
weapons of mass destruction.
The World Council for Health Florida is also hosting an event on 27
September 2025, featuring well-known health freedom medical doctors,
scientists and advocates. Speakers include Dr. William Makis, Dr. Homer
Lim, Dr. Mark Trozzi, Dr. Mark Brody, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, Dr. Andrew
Zywiec, Kevin McKernan, Dr. Irene Mavrakakis, Dr. David Speicher, Maija
Hahn, Abraxas Hudson and Dr. Marivic Villa, WCH FL Chair
The event, ‘Healing Beyond Covid: Vaccine-Induced Cancers & Immune
Disorders’, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 27 September 2025 at
9:00 am. Registration begins at 7 am.
An in-person attendance ticket is $30, and an online livestream ticket is
$15. Tickets are available HERE.

PESTILENCES ON THE RISE
This outbreak in New York joins a disturbing list of pestilences and
diseases making headlines in recent years, from pandemics to
mysterious viruses surfacing around the globe. Jesus warned in Matthew
24:7 that in the last days “there will be famines, PESTILENCES, and
earthquakes in various places.” He called these the “BEGINNING OF
BIRTH PAINS” (Matt. 24:8).
Just as labor pains increase in frequency and intensity before birth,
PESTILENCES SERVE AS PROPHETIC MARKERS, reminders that the earth
is groaning under the weight of sin and that His return draws closer.
The Biblical Role of Pestilence
Throughout Scripture, PESTILENCE has often represented God’s
judgment or a wake-up call to nations and peoples who had turned away
from Him. In the Old Testament, PESTILENCES struck Egypt during the
PLAGUES (Ex. 9:3). In 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, God told Solomon that when
He allows PESTILENCE to strike the land, His people should humble
themselves, pray and turn from their wicked ways so He would bring
healing. PESTILENCE was never just about sickness, it carried spiritual
significance. It was a signal that God’s people needed to repent and
return to Him.
A Call to Discern the Times
The outbreak in New York City is another addition to the (7) GROWING
LIST OF PESTILENCES SHAKING OUR WORLD. While health officials work
to disinfect cooling towers and treat patients with antibiotics, Christians
are reminded to lift our eyes higher.

FLESH-EATING BACTERIA AND BUBONIC PLAGUE RESURFACE
IN US, ECHOING BIBLE WARNINGS
From NEW PLAGUES TO PESTILENCES, OUTBREAKS OF STRANGE AND
DEADLY DISEASEs have long been seen as part of the signs Jesus
warned would appear before His return. A rise in flesh-eating bacteria
along the Gulf Coast and the reemergence of pneumonic plague in
Arizona are the latest reminders that even in an age of modern medicine,
the world remains vulnerable to ANCIENT SCOURGES described to us in
the Bible.
16 | P a g e
As reported by Israel365 News, “a recent surge in deadly infections,
including flesh-eating bacteria along the Gulf Coast and a rare case of
pneumonic plague in Arizona, has drawn eerie comparisons to the
BIBLICAL PLAGUES of Egypt and prophetic descriptions of the end-ofdays
War of Gog and Magog.”
While Jewish scholars have noted parallels to Zechariah, we as Christians
can also point to Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:7 that “there will be famines
and PESTILENCES, and earthquakes in various places” as SIGNS (7) OF
THE APPROACHING END OF THE AGE.
Public health officials have confirmed a sharp rise in cases of Vibrio
vulnificus, a dangerous strain of bacteria commonly found in warm
saltwater and brackish environments. “So far in 2025, at least eight
people have died and 22 others have been infected by the bacteria,
which thrives in warm coastal waters,” the report said.
The Louisiana Department of Health noted that 17 cases required
hospitalization, with four deaths, more than double the state’s annual
average for the past decade. Florida reported 13 cases and four deaths
as of late July.
The Cleveland Clinic warns that infections can progress quickly and cause
“blistering skin lesions, fever, sepsis, internal bleeding, organ failure, and
in some cases, necrotizing fasciitis, a severe infection that kills flesh
around an open wound.” Health officials urge beachgoers to take
precautions, such as avoiding raw shellfish, not entering the water with
open wounds and using protective footwear.
Alongside the Gulf Coast outbreak, PLAGUE has also resurfaced in the
American Southwest.
17 | P a g e
“A person died from pneumonic plague in Arizona last week, the first
death from the disease in this region in nearly two decades,” according
to the report. The bacterium, Yersinia pestis, was the cause of THE BLACK
DEATH IN THE MIDDLE AGES, killing tens of millions. The World Health
Organization now categorizes it as A RE-EMERGING DISEASE, with nearly
50,000 human cases worldwide in the past two decades.
We must use biblical discernment to see such events as reminders of the
brokenness of creation since the fall of man in Genesis 3 and warnings of
the times to come. Scripture speaks of PESTILENCE as part of God’s
judgment, yet also as a call to repentance and faith in Jesus before the
fullness of THE GREAT TRIBULATION unfolds. Revelation describes
DEVASTATING PLAGUES that will strike the earth during the end times
(Rev. 6:8; 16:2-21).
18 | P a g e
While medical experts emphasize prevention and treatment, we must
interpret these “wake-up calls” as opportunities to return to the hope of
the gospel message. As PESTILENCES reappear even in an age of
advanced science, believers are reminded that Christ’s words remain true
and that His return is drawing near.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/mosquito-borne-diseases-as-world-warmsparasites-diseases-and-viruses-become-more-transmissible/vi-AA1L22wq
Europe has registered a record number of outbreaks of mosquito-borne
illnesses such as chikungunya and West Nile virus this year, the EU health
agency said Wednesday, saying climate change was contributing to a
"new normal". Europe is experiencing longer and more intense
transmission seasons for mosquito-borne diseases, said the European
Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). For in-depth analysis
and a deeper perspective, FRANCE 24's Alison Sargent welcomes Thomas

A rare human case of plague has been identified in South Lake Tahoe,
where a resident tested positive after camping in a rodent-affected area.
El Dorado County notes that the bacterium Yersinia pestis has been
detected in local wildlife since 2021, with dozens of cases in squirrels and
chipmunks. The resident is under treatment at home and expected to
recover. Health officials emphasize prevention measures, noting plague
remains treatable with early antibiotics.

OUTBREAKS OF DEBILITATING TROPICAL DISEASES
BECOMING EUROPE’S ‘NEW NORMAL’
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/outbreaks-of-debilitatingtropical-diseases-becoming-europe-s-new-normal/ar-AA1KSAgm
Outbreaks of deadly and debilitating mosquito-borne diseases are
becoming the “new normal” in Europe, the European Centre for Disease
Prevention and Control (ECDC) has warned.
Record outbreaks of West Nile Virus, which can cause serious brain and
spinal cord inflammation, and chikungunya, which rarely kills but can lead
to long-lasting disability, are a clear indication of where the continent is
heading, the ECDC said on Wednesday.
23 | P a g e
“Europe is entering a new phase where longer, more widespread and
more intense transmission of mosquito-borne diseases is becoming the
new normal,” said Dr Pamela Rendi-Wagner, ECDC Director.
So far this year, Europe has seen 27 outbreaks of chikungunya – a record
high – with unusually early and significant local transmission reported in
France and several clusters of cases in Italy.
“Such an early start in the mosquito activity season and such a high
number of episodes have never been observed until now,” Santé
publique France, the French public health agency, said on Wednesday.
For the first time, a locally acquired case of the disease was found in
Alsace in northeastern France, which the ECDC described as “an
exceptional occurrence at this latitude, highlighting the continued
northward expansion of the transmission risk”.
Europe has also recorded the highest number of West Nile Virus cases in
three years, according to the ECDC. As with Chikungunya, the virus is
encroaching on new areas.
As of August 13, Europe has recorded 335 locally-acquired cases of West
Nile Virus and 19 deaths across eight countries. The ECDC expects cases
to continue rising through August and into September.
Cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in the Italian provinces of
Latina and Frosinone, near Rome, and Sălaj County, in Romania’s northwest,
for the first time this year.
In a statement released on World Mosquito day, the ECDC said the
outbreaks show the need for a robust and coordinated response to
protect public health.
24 | P a g e
“As the mosquito-borne disease landscape evolves, more people in
Europe will be at risk in the future. This makes prevention more
important than ever, both through coordinated public health action and
personal protection measures,” said Dr Céline Gossner, Head of Section
for Emerging, Food- and Vector-borne diseases at the ECDC.
“There is an urgent need to strengthen and scale up efficient,
environmentally friendly mosquito control interventions,” she added.
With chikungunya also spreading in China for the first time, the World
Health Organization (WHO) has warned that 2025 resembles the
explosion in cases that began in 2004 and eventually infected half a
million people.
Diseases like chikungunya were once confined to the tropics, but
scientists have for years been warning that climate change is creating the
conditions for disease-carrying insects to thrive in new areas.
The CDC on Wednesday said Europe is now experiencing longer and more
intense transmission seasons for mosquito-borne diseases like
chikungunya and WNV – a shift which is being driven by a host of factors
including rising temperatures, longer summers, mild winters and
changing rainfall patterns.
As well as climate change, scientists have also identified increases in
international trade and travel as forces driving the spread of diseases into
Europe.
These forces have helped the Aedes mosquito, also known as the Asian
tiger for its striped legs, which carries diseases like chikungunya, dengue
fever, and Zika virus, to spread around Europe.
25 | P a g e
While the species, which is native to Asia, first appeared in Albania in
1979, it has since become established in dozens of countries in Europe
including France, Italy and Spain.
Asian tiger eggs were even found in Kent in 2016, though the species has
yet to become established in the UK.
There are also concerns that malaria, which was last seen in Europe in
the 1970s, could one day make a return.
The ECDC has developed new guidance for EU member states – including
those that have not previously had to deal with outbreaks of mosquitoborne
tropical diseases – outlining measures for the surveillance,
prevention and control of diseases like chikungunya, Zika, dengue and
West Nile Virus.
Although the scale of the impact these diseases are having in Europe is
still far short of the damage they do elsewhere in the world, people are
catching, and sometimes dying from, these diseases.
In France, where there have now been at least 154 locally-acquired
chikungunya infections this year, health officials are already steeling
themselves for a future in which mosquito-borne diseases are a much
bigger threat.
“We will find the tiger mosquito everywhere in France, from now on,”
Paul Henri-Consigny, the Director of the Medical Centre at the The
Pasteur Institute, told the French daily Le Parisien.

WORLD MOSQUITO DAY: ONCE RARE, CHIKUNGUNYA NOW
SPREADS AT RECORD GLOBAL PACE
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/world-mosquito-day-once-rare-chikungunyanow-spreads-at-record-global-pace/ar-AA1KSqHJ
On World Mosquito Day 2025, Europe’s health authorities are warning
that the continent is entering a new phase for mosquito-borne diseases,
even as global case counts remain historically high. Record outbreaks of
West Nile virus (WNV) infection and chikungunya virus disease across
parts of Europe this year reflect longer and more intense transmission
seasons driven by rising temperatures, longer summers, milder winters,
and shifting rainfall patterns.
“Europe is entering a new phase — where longer, more widespread and
more intense transmission of mosquito-borne diseases is becoming the
new normal. ECDC is working closely with all Member States to provide
tailored support and timely public health guidance to strengthen
29 | P a g e
Europe’s response,” said Pamela Rendi-Wagner, Director of the European
Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
A global threat that keeps growing
Mosquitoes are the deadliest animals in the world. Mosquito-borne
diseases kill more than one million people and infect up to 700 million
each year, which is almost one in ten people. World Mosquito Day marks
128 years since British doctor Sir Ronald Ross, on August 20, 1897, found
the malaria parasite in the stomach of a female Anopheles mosquito,
providing the first evidence that mosquitoes transmit malaria between
humans. The day highlights the threat’s scale and the urgency of
prevention.
Recent global data underscore that urgency. According to the World
Mosquito Program, 2024 was the worst year for dengue, with more than
14 million reported cases and close to 12,000 dengue-related deaths. The
year before, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported over 6.5
million cases and more than 7,300 deaths.
In the first six months of 2025, 3.6 million dengue cases and over 1,900
deaths have been reported from 94 countries and territories, with a
notable surge in the Pacific in 2025 as Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, and the Cook
Islands declared outbreaks. Malaria also remains a major killer. In 2023,
over 263 million cases and 597,000 deaths were reported
worldwide, according to the WHO.
Recently, the WHO has raised an urgent call to prevent a repeat of
a chikungunya epidemic that swept the globe two decades ago. New
outbreaks linked to the Indian Ocean region spread to Europe and other
continents. An estimated 5.6 billion people across 119 countries live in
areas at risk from the virus.
30 | P a g e
Europe’s record year: Chikungunya and West Nile push north
Within this global backdrop, Europe is seeing consequential shifts. The
mosquito that can spread the chikungunya virus, Aedes albopictus, is
now established in 16 European countries and 369 regions, up sharply
from just 114 regions a decade ago.
As international travel rebounds, this expanded distribution makes local
outbreaks more likely. So far in 2025, Europe has recorded 27
chikungunya outbreaks, a new record for the continent. For the first time,
a locally acquired chikungunya virus disease case has been reported in
France’s Alsace region, an exceptional occurrence at this latitude that
highlights the continued northward expansion of transmission risk.
West Nile virus patterns are also shifting. Over the past decade, WNV
infection has been detected in new areas every year, and this year
infections have been reported for the first time in the Italian provinces of
Latina and Frosinone, and in Sălaj County in Romania. Europe has
recorded the highest number of West Nile virus cases in three years, and
ECDC expects infections to continue rising, likely reaching a seasonal
peak in August or September.
Guidance, preparedness, and personal protection
In response, ECDC has issued new guidance outlining practical
surveillance, prevention, and control measures for chikungunya virus
disease, dengue, and Zika virus disease, including special
recommendations for countries with limited prior experience of these
threats.
The guidance is designed as a ready-to-use toolkit to help public health
authorities assess risk levels and deploy preparedness and control
31 | P a g e
measures suited to local conditions. A separate ECDC guidance document
for West Nile virus is also available.
ECDC is coupling that technical guidance with clear messages for the
public. The agency encourages individuals living in affected areas and
visitors, particularly older people, children, and people with weakened
immune systems, to protect themselves against mosquito bites by using
mosquito repellent, wearing long sleeves and trousers, especially at
dawn and dusk, and using window screens, bed nets, and air conditioning
or fans.
Healthcare professionals, meanwhile, should be aware of the circulation
of these viruses and ensure early diagnosis. New vaccines have been
developed for chikungunya virus disease, but there is no vaccine for
human use against WNV infection.
“As the mosquito-borne disease landscape evolves, more European
people will be at risk. This makes prevention more important than ever
through coordinated public health action and personal protection
measures. There is an urgent need to strengthen and scale up efficient,
environmentally friendly mosquito control interventions,” said Dr Céline
Gossner, Head of Section, Food-, Water-, Vector-borne and Zoonotic
Diseases at ECDC.
World Mosquito Day: history meets an urgent present
World Mosquito Day was founded to commemorate Ross’s 1897
discovery. Still, its resonance today stems from the sustained global toll
of mosquito-borne diseases and the rapid changes underway in their
transmission. Dengue’s record-breaking year in 2024, the ongoing
burden of malaria, and the expanding risk of chikungunya align with what
European officials describe as a climactic and environmental shift
32 | P a g e
lengthening transmission seasons and pushing diseases into new
geographies.
The ECDC’s warning that Europe is entering a “new normal” reflects not
a single-season anomaly but an emerging pattern requiring coordinated
surveillance, preparedness, and community-level protection.
As summer heat and altered rainfall patterns provide more favorable
conditions for mosquitoes across parts of Europe, the continent’s
experience is increasingly connected to global dynamics, from
international travel to outbreaks in distant regions.
The immediate task, public health officials say, is twofold. Equipping
authorities with practical tools to anticipate and respond to outbreaks,
and ensure that individuals take straightforward steps to reduce
exposure. The message is straightforward on a day dedicated to
remembering how mosquito-borne disease transmission was first
uncovered. Awareness, prevention, and early action remain the most
effective defenses against a growing and increasingly interconnected
threat.

FACING THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS VIRUS’
TOP 10 MOST DANGEROUS VIRUSES IN THE WORLD
https://www.dw.com/en/top-10-most-dangerous-viruses-in-the-world/a-17846283
Although COVID-19 is very contagious, its fatality rate is relatively low in
comparison with these ten viruses. From the Marburg to Dengue, these
viruses are not mere names but potent adversaries causing fear
worldwide.
34 | P a g e
1. Marburg virus
The most dangerous virus is the Marburg virus. It is named after a small
and idyllic town on the river Lahn - but that has nothing to do with the
disease itself. The Marburg virus is a hemorrhagic fever virus. As with
Ebola, the Marburg virus causes convulsions and bleeding of mucous
membranes, skin and organs. It has a fatality rate of 90 percent.
2. Ebola
There are five strains of the Ebola virus, each named after countries and
regions in Africa: Zaire, Sudan, Tai Forest, Bundibugyo and Reston. The
Zaire Ebola virus is the deadliest, with a mortality rate of 90 percent. It is
the strain currently spreading through Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia,
and beyond. Scientists say flying foxes probably brought the Zaire Ebola
virus into cities.
35 | P a g e
3. Hantavirus
The Hantavirus describes several types of viruses. It is named after a river
where American soldiers were first thought to have been infected with
the Hantavirus, during the Korean War in 1950. Symptoms include lung
disease, fever and kidney failure.
4. Bird flu virus
The various strains of bird flu regularly cause panic - which is perhaps
justified because the mortality rate is 70 percent. But in fact the risk of
contracting the H5N1 strain - one of the best known - is quite low. You
can only be infected through direct contact with poultry. It is said this
explains why most cases appear in Asia, where people often live close to
chickens.
5. Lassa virus
A nurse in Nigeria was the first person to be infected with the Lassa virus.
The virus is transmitted by rodents. Cases can be endemic - which means
the virus occurs in a specific region, such as in western Africa, and can
reoccur there at any time. Scientists assume that 15 percent of rodents
in western Africa carry the virus.
6. Junin virus
The Junin virus is associated with Argentine hemorrhagic fever. People
infected with the virus suffer from tissue inflammation, sepsis and skin
bleeding. The problem is that the symptoms can appear to be so common
that the disease is rarely detected or identified in the first instance.
36 | P a g e
7. The Crimea-Congo fever
The Crimea-Congo fever virus is transmitted by ticks. It is similar to the
Ebola and Marburg viruses in the way it progresses. During the first days
of infection, sufferers present with pin-sized bleedings in the face, mouth
and the pharynx.
8. The Machupo virus
The Machupo virus is associated with Bolivian hemorrhagic fever, also
known as black typhus. The infection causes high fever, accompanied by
heavy bleedings. It progresses similar to the Junin virus. The virus can be
transmitted from human to human, and rodents often the carry it.
9. Kyasanur Forest Virus (KFD)
Scientists discovered the Kyasanur Forest Virus (KFD) virus in woodlands
on the southwestern coast of India in 1955. It is transmitted by ticks, but
scientists say it is difficult to determine any carriers. It is assumed that
37 | P a g e
rats, birds and boars could be hosts. People infected with the virus suffer
from high fever, strong headaches and muscle pain which can cause
bleedings.
10. Dengue fever
Dengue fever is a constant threat. If you're planning a holiday in the
tropics, get informed about dengue. Transmitted by mosquitoes, dengue
affects between 50 and 100 million people a year in popular holiday
destinations such as Thailand and India. But it's more of a problem for
the 2 billion people who live in areas that are threatened by dengue fever.

CHINA RECORDS MORE CASES OF DEADLY CHIKUNGUNYA
VIRUS 'LARGEST OUTBREAK EVER'
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/china-records-more-cases-of-deadlychikungunya-virus-as-country-battles-largest-outbreak-ever/ar-AA1KkNiK
Cases of chikungunya virus continue to rise in China, as the country
battles its largest-ever outbreak of the illness.
Another 1,387 cases of Chikungunya virus were confirmed last week,
Chinese authorities said, with almost all in the southern manufacturing
city of Foshan.
40 | P a g e
It takes the tally to more than 10,000 cases overall, with infections also
reported in Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as in Europe and travelacquired
cases in the US.
The reported figure for the latest week is, however, below that for the
previous seven-day period at 2,892 cases, in a sign that the outbreak
could now be slowing.
Chinese officials say there have been no cases of severe disease or death
reported during the outbreak.
The spread of the mosquito-borne disease has triggered restrictions in
China not seen since the Covid pandemic, with disinfectant sprayed in
streets and patients quarantined in hospitals.
Officials have also deployed insecticide-spraying drones, 'cannibal'
mosquitoes and killer fish to eliminate any insects that could be carrying
the virus.
It has also triggered alarm in the US, with CDC officials saying they are
'assessing' the situation and warning Americans to take protective
measures, such as wearing insect repellent or long-sleeved clothes if they
travel to the area.
Experts in the US say the disease is just 'one plane ride' from reaching
American shores.
China's record-breaking outbreak is in Guangdong province, on the
southern coast, with almost all the infections reported in the city of
Foshan. In the latest update from the Guangdong Provincial Center for
Disease Control and Prevention, revealed by the Yangcheng Evening
News, officials reported that of the new cases, 1,212 were in Foshan.
41 | P a g e
Another 103 cases were reported in Guangzhou, the largest city in the
province, while 39 cases were reported in Zhanjiang. It was not clear
where the other 33 cases were within the province.
Officials heralded the figures as the lowest weekly count reported since
the peak of the outbreak in the week to July 20 to 26, when they said
they recorded 2,940 cases.
In a statement to DailyMail.com last week, a CDC spokesman said: 'CDC
is aware of the reported chikungunya outbreak in Guangdong Province in
China and is currently assessing the size and extent of the outbreak.'
The agency has already issued a level two warning for the area, advising
Americans to take advanced precautions when traveling to the region.
42 | P a g e
On Friday, Hong Kong said it had detected another two cases linked to
the outbreak, taking its chikungunya tally to five infections reported this
year.
43 | P a g e
One was a 66-year-old woman who was reported to have traveled to
Foshan alone from July 24 to August 5 to see family, before returning to
Hong Kong. The patient began suffering from fever, rash and joint pain on
August 6 and went to the hospital.
She has now been discharged.
It also reported another suspected case in a healthy 22-year-old woman
who was suffering from joint pain and fever. She had recently traveled to
Madagascar, Mauritius and Malaysia before returning to the territory,
and reported having been bitten by mosquitoes during her trip.
Also on Friday, Taiwan reported its first case linked to the outbreak in
China, in a woman in her 40s who had recently returned from Foshan and
Shenzhen.
A day after returning to Taiwan she developed a fever, rash and pain in
her limbs. Officials said she was admitted to the hospital. She also
reported being bitten by mosquitoes.
44 | P a g e
Chikungunya virus can only be spread via the bites of mosquitoes and
cannot be passed from human to human.
People infected with the virus suffer from a sudden high fever, normally
around 103 Fahrenheit (39 Celsius), which happens within two to seven
days of infection.
They may also suffer from a rash, headache, nausea, fatigue and joint
pain.
In serious cases, patients may suffer from pain in the hands and feet that
is so bad it leaves them struggling to carry out normal activities.
It is rarely fatal, but can leave people with lifelong complications
including joint inflammation and pain that lasts for years.
Patients who are very young, elderly or have underlying conditions are
most at risk because of their weakened immune systems.
There is no treatment for the virus, with doctors instead using over-thecounter
painkillers, fluids and rest to ease symptoms. There are two
vaccines available.
The US records more than 100 cases of chikungunya virus every year, with
almost all normally linked to travelers returning from abroad before
testing positive for the virus.
Experts are concerned, however, that an infected individual could be
bitten by a mosquito, which would then become infected and pass the
disease on to others.
A total of 45 chikungunya cases have been reported in the US this year,
although none have been linked to the outbreak in China.

HOW CHINA IS FIGHTING THE CHIKUNGUNYA VIRUS
OUTBREAK AFTER NEARLY 8,000 CASES
https://www.the-independent.com/asia/china/chikungunya-virus-china-outbreak-casessymptoms-b2803604.html
Authorities introduce strict pandemic-era measures to curb spread of
chikungunya fever
46 | P a g e
Authorities in China are fighting to prevent the spread of a mosquitoborne
viral disease after thousands of cases were reported in a few
weeks.
The country has seen nearly 8,000 cases of chikungunya in less than a
month, mostly in the city of Foshan in Guangdong province, prompting
authorities to impose measures akin to the “zero Covid” policy that saw
the Chinese government impose some of the strictest regulations in the
world during the coronavirus pandemic. Soldiers wearing masks have
been spraying insecticides in parks and in the streets, while authorities
have released more than 5,000 larva-eating fish into the lakes of Foshan.
They have also deployed drones to identify mosquito breeding sites, and
have reportedly introduced “elephant mosquitoes” whose larvae prey on
the virus-carrying species.
Chikungunya patients are required to stay in “quarantine zones” or
hospitals, where their beds are protected with nets to prevent the spread
of the disease. They are discharged only after testing negative for the
virus.
The city’s residents have been ordered to discard any stagnant water, and
community workers have been tasked with inspecting homes, local
reports said. Households and businesses that don’t cooperate could risk
being penalised up to 10,000 yuan or face criminal charges for
“obstructing the prevention of infectious diseases”.
Foshan has mandated real-name registration for medication to treat
chikungunya, while two other cities have told travellers returning from
affected areas to monitor their health.
47 | P a g e
Two residents who did not want to be named told The New York
Times that workers had entered their homes without consent to search
for stagnant water. Others alleged that their plants were taken away or
destroyed in front of them. About five houses had their electricity cut for
not cooperating, according to a notice issued in the district of Guicheng.
Social media users criticised the pandemic-era measures, calling them
unnecessary. “What’s the point of the quarantine? It’s not as though an
infected patient will then go around biting other people,” a user wrote
on Weibo.
In addition to Foshan, 12 cities in the southern Guangdong province have
reported infections. In Hong Kong, a 12-year-old boy who travelled to
Foshan in July has been diagnosed with chikungunya fever.
China’s vice-premier Liu Guozhong last week called for an all-out effort
to prevent the spread of the disease within and outside the affected
regions, Xinhua reported.
The rise in infections has prompted the US Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention to issue a travel notice for China.
Chikungunya is spread mainly by the Aedes mosquito and has no specific
treatment. It can rapidly cause large outbreaks. As the mosquitoes bite
in the daytime, prevention through the use of insect repellent and longsleeved
clothing is crucial.
Chikungunya outbreaks have occurred in Africa, Asia, Europe, the
Americas, and islands of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. There is a risk of
the virus being spread to unaffected areas by infected travellers,
according to CDC guidance.
48 | P a g e
The infection can cause fever and joint pain, with other symptoms
including headache, muscle pain, joint swelling and rash. In serious cases,
the virus can cause long-term disability. If an infected person does not
experience joint pain, the symptoms will be mild and can go
unrecognised.
Most people will recover fully from the infection. There have been
occasional instances of eye, heart, and neurological complications, while
newborns and older people with underlying medical conditions are at
higher risk of severe disease.
49 | P a g e
Last month, the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued an urgent call
for action to prevent a repeat of the 2004-05 epidemic of chikungunya as
new outbreaks linked to the Indian Ocean region spread to Europe and
other continents.
Diana Rojas Alvarez, a medical officer at the WHO, told reporters in
Geneva that an estimated 5.6 billion people live in areas across 119
countries at risk from the virus.
Although the number of new locally transmitted cases of chikungunya
fever has declined in Guangdong over the past week, the risk remains,
according to Kang Min of the Guangdong Provincial Centre for Disease
Control and Prevention.

Malaria cases have entered a sharp spike in Zimbabwe this year after U.S.
aid cuts to the country. At this new unprecedented malaria rate,
hospitalizations and death tolls are rising.
What's happening?
In the earliest months of his presidency, President Donald Trump slashed
critical funding for scientific and medical research as well as national
crisis response procedures, cutting medical support for nations like
Zimbabwe off at the knees.
In particular, according to the Guardian, these cuts debilitated all malaria
research conducted by the Zimbabwe Entomological Support
Programme in Malaria, which otherwise helped support the nation's
preventative and remedial measures.
As a result, malaria-based deaths in the country have more
than tripled since 2024, surging from 45 to 143 between January and
May. The number of total cases as of late June approached 120,000, with
the count continuing to climb even now as the country struggles without
aid.
"The malaria was back with a vengeance straight after [the cuts], and
[numbers of] cases that were waning rebounded in 2025, surpassing
levels that had ever been seen since the beginning of the [Zento
mosquito surveillance programme]," Professor Sungano Mharakurwa,
director of Africa University's Malaria Institute, told the Guardian.
Without adequate funding, the Zimbabwe government is unable to
distribute sufficient control methods — such as mosquito nets — to
those who are most at risk of succumbing fatally to the disease.
53 | P a g e
"If mosquito nets and preventive medicines for pregnant women are
unavailable, lives will be lost," one expert reported. "When the supply of
test kits and first-line treatments is disrupted, malaria cases and deaths
will spiral."
Why is the rise in malaria cases concerning?
According to the Centers for Disease Control, malaria is a vector-borne
illness transmitted through infected mosquitoes, and can lead to a
variety of symptoms ranging in severity from headache and fever to
coma, kidney failure, and death.
While malaria can't be passed from person to person, remaining
unprotected in a mosquito-prone region can unfortunately make
contracting the disease rather likely.
Of malaria cases, 94% occur within Africa, per the World Health
Organization, but outbreaks are spreading worldwide as the changing
climate affects weather and wind patterns and alters the migratory
tendencies of mosquitoes.
What's being done about malaria?
So far, Zimbabwe is straining to adjust to the sudden loss in funding by
relying on its own government to bridge a gap worth hundreds of millions
in the absence of the U.S.
The African Union has a goal of curbing malaria outbreaks by the year
2030, but our warming planet — along with its rising humidity and
moisture in these regions — lends itself to a level of uncontrolled
mosquito breeding that will likely interfere with such an ambition.
54 | P a g e
Emptying out stagnant water and wearing mosquito repellent can
protect you in the short term, but to mitigate outbreaks like these
altogether, we must address the growing climate crisis as a collective.
You can help by making simple, eco-friendly switches in your daily life,
like upgrading to energy-efficient appliances and opting for public
transportation — after all, a little goes a long way.

U.S. ISSUES NEW TRAVEL WARNING AS DISEASE SPREADS
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/u-s-issues-new-travel-warning-as-diseasespreads/ar-AA1KH4cc
The United States Center for Disease Control issued another string of
travel warnings as the chikungunya virus continues to spread across the
globe with outbreaks in Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean,
and Indian and Pacific Oceans. Warnings for eight countries were
announced by the CDC on Aug. 15
What is Chikungunya Disease?
56 | P a g e
Chikungunya disease is caused by the chikungunya virus and is spread to
humans through mosquito bites.
"Most people infected with chikungunya virus develop some symptoms.
Symptoms of chikungunya usually begin 3–7 days after a bite by an
infected mosquito. The most common symptoms are fever and joint
pain," the CDC said in a statement. "Other symptoms may include
headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash. Most people get better
within a week; however, some can have severe joint pain for months to
years following acute illness."
Death from chikungunya is rare, but the people at risk for more severe
disease include newborns infected around the time of birth, older adults
(65 years or older), and people with medical conditions such as diabetes
or heart disease.
There is no specific treatment for the virus, though two vaccines are
licensed in the United States.
The Virus Continues to Spread
On Aug. 15, the CDC announced a new series of warnings after the virus
spread to Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Réunion, Somalia, and
Sri Lanka before adding another warning for the department of Santa
Cruz in Bolivia.
The government organization offered a Level 2 warning for all eight
nations. "Practice enhanced precautions for this destination. The Travel
Health Notice describes additional precautions or defines a specific
population at risk," the CDC said.

Southern Italy has confirmed 32 cases of West Nile virus, including two
deaths, in 2025 as southern Europe sees a spike in this mosquito-borne
illness.
What's happening?
58 | P a g e
Most of Italy's cases have been in the Latina province, which is situated
about 60 miles south of Rome. The country's national health institute
(ISS) stated that "the epidemiological trend is in line with that of previous
years," while the geographical distribution of the virus "appears quite
different," according to Euronews, which reported on the
announcement.
As of July 30, five European countries had reported human cases of West
Nile virus, per the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control:
Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, and Romania.
"Greece reported human West Nile virus infections in three new regions,
Italy in seven new regions, and Romania in one new region, compared to
the previous week," the organization stated. "The highest number of
cases (43) has been reported in Latina province in Italy."
Why is this news important?
"Let us remember that 80% of West Nile infection cases are
asymptomatic and the risk of serious consequences is greater for the
most fragile people," Teresa Palamara, director of ISS's infectious
diseases department, said, per Euronews.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most
symptomatic individuals experience minor issues such as headache,
weakness, and gastrointestinal symptoms. However, some people — less
than 1% — develop neuroinvasive disease, which typically causes more
severe health concerns, including meningitis, encephalitis, or acute
flaccid myelitis.
West Nile virus, like many other mosquito-borne illnesses, is a growing
concern as our planet continues to overheat. According to the World
59 | P a g e
Mosquito Program, extreme climate and weather patterns such as
droughts, heat waves, floods, and rainfall could help mosquitoes breed
and widen their ranges, even spreading their viruses in higher altitudes
and latitudes.
We're already seeing this play out in places such as Finland,
where scientists recently discovered a mosquito species that had never
been recorded in the country. And one recent study found that several
mosquito species' populations are set to expand their ranges in the
Americas soon.
What's being done about mosquito-borne diseases?
To prevent the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases, the World
Health Organization recommends that people take protective
measures to avoid being bitten. These include wearing long sleeves and
pants, using insect repellent on clothing and skin, using window and door
screens, and using mosquito nets for baby cots and carriers.
Many communities across the globe are also attempting to cull mosquito
populations to protect residents from disease. For instance, officials in
one Florida county are using X-rays to kill invasive mosquitoes. One
neighborhood in the Philippines is even paying residents to bring in any
mosquitoes they can wrangle.

ISRAEL JOINING AID EFFORT IN CHOLERA-STRICKEN SOUTH
SUDAN
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/israel-joining-aid-effort-in-cholera-strickensouth-sudan/ar-AA1KICsy
Israel will provide “urgent” humanitarian aid to South Sudan to address
a cholera crisis there, the Foreign Ministry announces, days after a report
surfaced that named the East African country as a possible destination
for relocated Gazans.
“In light of the severe humanitarian crisis in South Sudan,” Israel’s Agency
for International Development Coordination, MASHAV, “will provide
urgent humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations in the
country,” reads a statement.
61 | P a g e
The aid — which includes medical equipment, water purification
supplies, gloves and face masks, special hygiene kits, and food packages
— aims to address a cholera outbreak in the young country, which
“suffers from a severe shortage of resources,” the statement says.
IsraAID, an Israeli non-governmental organization operating in South
Sudan, will also assist in the aid operation, adds the ministry.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met last month with visiting South Sudan’s
Foreign Minister Monday Semaya Kumba, and the two “discussed the
humanitarian crisis in South Sudan, which is worsening due to the influx
of refugees fleeing the war in Sudan,” according to Jerusalem.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel visited South Sudan last week, a
day after it was reported that Israel was in talks with the country about
resettling Gazans — though the African nation has sharply denied the
allegations.

VALLEY FEVER CASES SPIKE TO RECORD LEVELS IN WEST

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/they-re-not-going-to-live-normally-apotentially-devastating-disease-surges-in-california/ar-AA1KLu3B
63 | P a g e
Cases of Valley fever are spiking in California, according to health officials.
As of the end of July, there were 6,761 cases confirmed — which means
if this pace continues, the total 2025 numbers will likely exceed the
12,595 cases seen in 2024.
Last year’s total was a new record for the state, where the average has
been 7,000 to 9,000 cases annually between 2016 and 2024, per data
from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
The case count is likely to increase due to delays in reporting.
"Valley fever is a serious illness that’s here to stay in California," said Erica
Pan, director of the state public health department, in a statement.
Named after the San Joaquin Valley in California, Valley fever is an
infection caused by breathing in the spores of a fungus called
Coccidioides, which originates in the soil.
Southern Arizona and Southern California have the highest volume of
cases, per the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) — but the
disease is also prevalent in New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Texas and parts
of Washington State.
Dr. George Thompson, a professor at UC Davis Health and co-director of
the Center for Valley fever in Sacramento, previously spoke with Fox
News Digital about the ramp-up in cases.
"We have seen a gradual increase in cases over the last five years, and a
greater number of patients are coming into our clinic for diagnosis and
treatment," he said at the time.
While geographic location heightens the overall risk of contracting Valley
fever, the CDC notes that certain groups are more vulnerable.
64 | P a g e
These include people 60 years of age and older, those who have
weakened immune systems as a result of certain diseases or medical
conditions, pregnant women, people with diabetes, and people who are
Black or Filipino.
Symptoms of Valley fever can vary in type and severity, but they tend to
mimic those seen in patients with COVID-19, experts say.
"Some [people] may have a fever, chills or fatigue, or just feel generally
unwell," Thompson of UC Davis Health said.
However, he said he does see some severe cases where patients
experience respiratory illness and difficulty breathing.
Other symptoms may include extreme fatigue, bone or joint pain, night
sweats, fever, chest pain, severe headaches, weight loss and skin rashes,
according to the CDPH.
Thompson estimated that for 1% to 3% of people, the infection will leave
the lungs and travel to other parts of the body, which can lead to
meningitis.
People who experience severe Valley fever illness may need to be treated
in a hospital, and may need ongoing medical care for months or years,
health officials cautioned.
Although it’s rare, people outside the high-risk groups can experience
severe effects from Valley fever.
One of those is Rob Purdie from California, who contracted Valley fever
in 2012 when he was 38. The infection led to meningitis, which caused
severe headaches and double vision, he previously told Fox News Digital.
65 | P a g e
The spores of the fungus had spread from his lungs to his brain and
nervous system, a potentially fatal condition.
More than a decade later, Purdie lives with the lingering effects of
disseminated coccidioidal meningitis caused by Valley fever.
Since the fungus that causes Valley fever lives in the soil, infection is often
"hobby-related," Thompson said. He said he sees many cases among
people who are in archeology or who spend a lot of time outdoors.
For those in high-risk groups, the doctor recommends avoiding
construction sites or areas where soil is often stirred up into the air.
People can also wear an N95 respirator, a type of high-quality mask, to
minimize exposure in dusty areas.
Not everyone who acquires Valley fever requires medical treatment,
although some may benefit from antifungal medications.
Those who have severe symptoms, take immunocompromising
medications, have cancer, have HIV, are pregnant or have had an organ
transplant are likely to need antifungals.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION WARNS OF EPIDEMIC
THREAT AS DANGEROUS VIRUS SPREADS
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/world-health-organization-warns-of-epidemicthreat-as-dangerous-virus-spreads-we-are-seeing-history-repeating-itself/ar-AA1KLvRc
Officials with the World Health Organization are alerting the public to a
potential revival of epidemic proportions. New reports show the
chikungunya virus is spreading outside of its typical distribution,
according to Reuters.
What's happening?
Chikungunya is a virus that was first identified in the United Republic of
Tanzania in 1952. Since then, it's emerged across Africa and Asia,
particularly in the Indian Ocean region. It's spread by mosquitoes, most
commonly by the species Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Once
bitten, an infected person can expect to experience fever and severe joint
pain.
67 | P a g e
Right now, an estimated 5.6 billion people across 119 countries are at
risk of contracting the virus as it spreads to Europe and other continents,
per Reuters. WHO officials are concerned that the pattern is similar to an
epidemic of the disease that happened between 2004 and 2005 and
impacted nearly half a million people.
"We are seeing history repeating itself," said Diana Rojas Alvarez, a
medical officer at the WHO, per Reuters.
Why are mosquito-borne illnesses important?
According to the WHO, mosquitoes are the most common vector of
disease. Illnesses such as chikungunya, malaria, and West Nile cause
nearly 800,000 deaths each year worldwide.
Humans are more likely to be infected where mosquitoes thrive in warm,
wet climates. With global temperatures on the rise, the insect's habitat
is expanding.
What's being done about mosquito-borne illnesses?
There are no medicines currently known to treat chikungunya, though
two types of vaccines are available in the United States
and acetaminophen or paracetamol can alleviate symptoms, per the
CDC. With this, as with many mosquito-borne illnesses, prevention is
key.
Mosquito-borne illnesses are easily preventable by controlling the insect
population and preventing them from breeding. In California, vector
district officials are working to sterilize male mosquitoes in an effort to
control populations. Scientists in Burkina Faso have developed a
mosquito-killing fungus to be introduced to the insects during mating.

LAS VEGAS FACING 'TICKING TIME BOMB' OVER MAJOR
MOSQUITO INFESTATION ISSUE
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/las-vegas-facing-tickingtime-bomb-over-major-mosquito-infestation-issue/ar-AA1KJIFx
A growing mosquito problem in Las Vegas has been described as a
'ticking timebomb', as the iconic city is currently going through a strange
period.
The pesky insects are usually drawn to warmer and more humid
conditions, but their numbers numbers have increased in Las Vegas
Valley in because of several changes.
69 | P a g e
A combination of urban development a change in the climate and
resistance to insecticide are making conditions favorable for insects in
southern Nevada.
Higher temperatures in Vegas and changing weather patterns mean that
where mosquitos usually live and breed is altering as is the geography of
where they settle.
The insects bring not just bug bites, but can also carry some fairly nasty
diseases such as dengue fever and West Nile virus to Las Vegas and the
remainder of Clark County.
Louisa Messenger, an assistant professor in the department of
environmental and global health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas
told NBC News “People aren’t wrong that mosquitoes shouldn’t really
70 | P a g e
thrive in desert conditions, but it’s clear that the particular set of species
that we do have in Clark County has adapted to the local ecology”
Culex mosquitoes, which can carry West Nile virus, and Aedes aegypti
mosquitoes, which spread dengue are the main types of mosquitos that
have been causing concern.
The insects are also becoming resistant to insecticides and sparking
health fears of a major public health risk in a city mainly visited by
tourists.
Messenger added: “It is a little bit of a ticking time bomb.”
She fears Las Vegas is more vulnerable to mosquito-borne diseases
especially, dengue which has been evident in North America and South
America.
There have been more than 13 million cases recorded across in 2024,
says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Vegas, has more
than 48 million worldwide visitors annually and only a few bites could
trigger local transmission of infections.
There were 26 reported cases of West Nile virus in Las Vegas, figures from
the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) show. And the city's largest
outbreak was 43 cases in 2019.
But in 2024 a record number of insects carried the virus in and around
the city.
Health chiefs have not yet identified any cases so far, this year. But it is
not known what specific factors create outbreaks in specific years.

technology and live forever,” Dr. Joseph Sansone writes.
Both the Club of Rome and the UN are predicting a significant decline in
the global population by 2100. Whether these forecasts are predictive
programming or adjusting their data for a mass poisoning event, for
example, “the relevant point,” Dr Sansone says, “is that a massive global
attack with covid (synthetic pathogen or whatever it was) and the mRNA
nanoparticle bioweapon injections and products are the issue.”
In addition, digital IDs, such as the Real ID in the USA, and centralised
digital bank currencies are being rolled out which will lead to a system of
control. The aim is to replace personal money with an allowance based
on compliance.

By Dr. Joseph Sansone
A full-fledged effort to depopulate the planet is underway. It would
appear that the human population is being truncated. Shortening
lifespans on one end and reducing birth rates on the other.
The mRNA nanoparticle injections [also known as covid vaccines] are
associated with neurological disorders, autoimmune diseases, heart
problems, strokes, cancers, metabolic disorders and a host of other
diseases and disorders, including death. One need not be a scientist or
medical doctor to figure out that by giving people chronic diseases and
illnesses, you are shortening their life spans.
76 | P a g e
A recent study was published showing a shocking 37% decrease in life
span after covid injections. If this data is extrapolated over the course of
a life span, that would mean an approximate 29-year reduction in life
span. This means that children receiving the mRNA bioweapon injections
will be lucky to live into their 50s.
Conversely, studies also show a dramatic drop in successful conception
rates among vaccinated women compared to unvaccinated women.
The study looked at 1.3 million Czech women aged 18–39. Those who
received the covid bioweapon injection had a 33% decrease in
pregnancies compared to those not injected with the covid bioweapon.
I guess Pfizer, Moderna and company fixed the Social Security problem.
77 | P a g e
There is plenty of data out there regarding the biodistribution of the spike
protein damaging organs, including getting into the testis and ovaries.
This and the reverse transcription pose a significant risk to the human
genome itself, according to the Florida Department of Health. There is no
way to predict the potential mutations that could occur over multiple
generations.
Will future generations struggle with multiple health issues, and will our
species be plagued with chronic diseases? Will future generations
experience massive issues with sterility? Will test tube birth be the only
form of birth in the future?
Essentially, the Transhumanists are depopulating us while experimenting
on us so they can figure out a way to merge with technology and live
forever.
78 | P a g e
Interestingly, forecasts are shifting from a population bomb to a
population collapse in the latter half of this century. According to Life
Science:
In 2022, the United Nations estimated that the world population would
reach 9.7 billion by 2050 and rise to 10.4 billion by 2100. UN estimates
from a decade ago suggested the population would reach 11 billion.
A population collapse will create an undue burden on the younger
population as they try to sustain services for the older population.
Life Science also reported an abrupt change in this forecast by the Club
of Rome:
Population growth could grind to a halt by 2050, before decreasing to as
little as 6 billion humans on Earth in 2100, a new analysis of birth trends
has revealed.
79 | P a g e
The study, commissioned by the non-profit organisation the Club of
Rome, predicts that if current trends continue, the world’s population,
which is currently 7.96 billion, will peak at 8.6 billion in the middle of the
century before declining by nearly 2 billion before the century’s end.
The Club of Rome is often viewed as a globalist organisation of powerful
families steeped in occult ideology. These are the people who essentially
run the world to a great degree. Are we looking at a prediction of a
population collapse based on new data, or are we looking at a prediction
of a population collapse because we poisoned three-quarters of the
human population?
80 | P a g e
Predictive modelling or predictive programming has been around for
some time. In conversations with Dr. Rima Laibow, she opined that
Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’ was a case of predictive
programming, as was Orwell’s ‘1984‘. Whether these books were
predictive programming or not, they were prophetic, especially the first
four chapters of Brave New World in relation to covid and the last five
years. Predictive programming certainly exists within the movie industry.
Regardless, whether the Club of Rome predictions are predictive
programming or adapting to the data of mass poisoning the human
population is irrelevant. The relevant point is that a massive global attack
with covid (synthetic pathogen or whatever it was) and the mRNA
nanoparticle bioweapon injections and products are the issue.
81 | P a g e
Some time back, I spoke with Lawyer Lisa, and she presented information
on game simulations practised by globalists that ostensibly were
designed to prepare for various disasters. Although the specificity of
these simulations caused these games to look more like practising how
to carry out a plan, rather than preparing for events. We discussed the
Food Chain Reaction Game. This tabletop exercise was eerily predictive
of events that have occurred. In THIS interview, Lisa explained that the
game is played mainly by Democrats and that the game looks more like
practising how to carry out a plan than it looks like preparing for various
scenarios. Geoengineering for weather manipulation, deliberate
starvation and other topics were discussed.
82 | P a g e
We’ve already seen some supply chain disruptions and it seems like this
is a deliberate part of the plan. The reality is that the modern world is not
equipped to handle sudden food shortages. Most people live on smaller
parcels of land and could not easily adapt to sustenance farming. Imagine
urban areas after a short period of time should a genuine famine occur.
The chaos caused by mass migration into the West, which is a deliberate
policy of every Western country, creates an additional strain and chaotic
element in Western countries’ ability to deal with these types of issues.
It also creates the pretext for 911 style false flag attacks on smaller soft
targets with the goal of turning the whole country into the airport. The
implementation of the Real ID will create a system where “vaccine”
passports are required to travel and centralised digital bank
currencies become a reality. This will allow us to be easily herded into 15-
minute cities, which are sophisticated prisons.
83 | P a g e
84 | P a g e
85 | P a g e
86 | P a g e
87 | P a g e
The Real ID is already implementing travel restrictions by requiring
a National ID to fly on a plane within the United States. It will only be a
matter of time before this ID is required to drive across state lines. Many
states have implemented the Real ID already, but it will not be until
everybody is in that digital system that you will know the full extent of its
oppressive use.
Unfortunately, with the technology that exists today, the ability to turn
off your car exists (not my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport, lol) should you
travel outside your designated perimeter. The technology exists to use
88 | P a g e
computer algorithms with centralised digital bank currencies to
determine what you can purchase and with whom you can transact. If
the algorithm flags you and I because we believe in radical concepts such
as free speech, it will be able to modify our purchases and with whom
we can transact, and also will be able to remove funds from your account.
Remember, the ultimate goal is to replace “your money” with “an
allowance” based on compliance.
This article is not intended to black pill you. I don’t do Learned
Helplessness, Cognitive Dissonance or Stockholm Syndrome, or drama,
for that matter. I play to win.
Mass media brainwashing efforts, even among the so-called alternative
media, want to keep you lulled into passivity. Not talking about the fact
that most people you know will have shortened life spans as a result of
the mRNA nanoparticle bioweapon injections doesn’t mean it is not
happening. The fact that most people you know will have shortened life
spans because of the bioweapon injections should prompt you to action.
It is why I encourage you to help me get my bill introduced in all 50
states and take other actions that attack the problems directly and cut
through the BS.
Knowing how evil the enemy actually is, is important to understanding
the type of resolve needed to stop them. Remember, you are the carbon
they want to reduce.

AA1KPEOJ
Dozens of cases of a potentially debilitating vector-borne disease have
been identified in the United Kingdom this year, the BBC reports, almost
twice as many as last year.
What's happening?
On the surface, this uptick in cases of chikungunya virus might not appear
to be concerning in scale.
In all, 73 people in the U.K. contracted chikungunya, up from 27 in the
same span of time in 2024 — a 170% increase in cases.
Chikungunya is a vector-borne illness, infecting humans
through mosquito bites. Although it's rarely fatal, chikungunya's
symptoms are not unlike dengue fever and Zika, including joint swelling,
rashes, and fatigue.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
outbreaks tend to emerge in tropical or subtropical regions, and
chikungunya cannot spread from person to person. In the U.K., the cases
diagnosed in 2025 were all associated with trips abroad.
94 | P a g e
U.K. Health Security Agency public health consultant Dr. Philip Veal told
the BBC that the surge was concerning.
"Chikungunya can be a nasty disease and we're seeing a worrying
increase in cases among travellers returning to the U.K.," Veal observed.
Why are public health experts so worried?
On August 19, the New York Times reported that nearly a quarter of a
million cases of the chikungunya virus were recorded in 2025, the vast
majority in Latin America.
However, 8,000 cases occurred in China, where the disease had not
previously been observed — and the World Health Organization
expressed concern about an outbreak similar to one that occurred two
decades ago.
That outbreak wound up "contributing to a surge of new disabilities" due
to lingering effects of the disease, per WHO chikungunya expert Dr. Diana
Rojas Alvarez.
"You have people who were working, with no disabilities, and from one
day to the next, they cannot even type on a phone, they can't hold a pen,"
said Alvarez, who added that the illness had adverse impacts on quality
of life and economies at large.
The Times emphasized two ways rapidly shifting climate patterns are
exacerbating the spread, one of which was a concordant increase
in extreme weather incidents.
"A warmer, wetter world provides more suitable habitat. And extreme
weather events can cause more breeding in floods — or displace people,
95 | P a g e
who cluster in areas with poor water and sanitation supply," the paper
explained.
What's being done about it?
On August 18, Rep. Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey introduced
a bipartisan bill, the Battling Infections Transmitted by Ticks and Exposure
(BITE) Act.
It's one of three pieces of pending legislation focused on tick-borne
disease, and would "create the world's first national response system for
Lyme disease and other vector-borne illnesses."
Speaking to the BBC, Dr. Veal reminded readers that small acts of
prevention "can greatly reduce the risk."
He recommended treated mosquito nets for sleeping, covering exposed
skin outdoors, and using insecticides as effective, simple precautions.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a Level
2 travel alert on Friday, advising those planning to visit China to practice
enhanced precautions due to a significant chikungunya virus outbreak.
Newsweek has reached out to the CDC via media inquiry form Saturday
during non-working hours.
Why It Matters
Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted primarily by Aedes mosquitoes
and can cause symptoms such as fever, joint pain, headache, muscle pain,
joint swelling, and rash.
While symptoms can be severe and occasionally last for months, most
cases resolve without hospitalization or death. There is currently no
99 | P a g e
specific antiviral medicine for chikungunya, so treatment focuses on
managing symptoms.
The CDC advisory followed a surge in infections in southern China, raising
concerns about travelers unknowingly importing the mosquito-borne
illness to new regions.
The outbreak highlights the persistent challenges posed by emerging
infectious diseases in a highly connected world and the importance of
prevention for U.S. travelers to affected destinations.
What To Know
The CDC's Level 2 alert—designated as "Practice Enhanced
Precautions"—was announced after Chinese health authorities reported
nearly 5,000 chikungunya infections, primarily in Guangdong province.
The outbreak began in early July, with over 3,000 cases identified in a
single week. In Foshan, a major manufacturing city in Guangdong, local
officials accounted for about 60 percent of the reported cases.
As of July 30, the total number of documented cases in Guangdong
surpassed 6,500, with most classified as mild and no deaths reported by
regional health authorities, the South China Morning Post reported on
Saturday.
The Aedes mosquitos bite during the daytime and patients can see
symptoms anywhere from three to seven days after being bitten by an
infected mosquito.
The CDC has warned that internationally mobile travelers may further
spread the virus to regions where it has not previously circulated.
100 | P a g e
On Saturday, the first imported case since 2019 was reported in Hong
Kong in a child who spent two weeks in Shunde district, the South China
Morning Post reported.
Chinese Vice-Premier Liu Guozhong urged local authorities in Foshan to
"strictly implement port health quarantine measures," and called for
heightened mosquito control efforts to "effectively eliminate mosquitoes
and cut off epidemic spread channels," according to China's official
Xinhua News Agency.
Officials have released thousands of mosquito-eating fish in the
Guangdong province in an effort to curb the rising number of cases,
according to a report from state-run media outlet China Daily.
Because no specific antiviral medicine is available for chikungunya,
prevention—through vaccination, insect repellent, long sleeves, and
mosquito control measures—remains the most effective defense,
according to the CDC.
Globally, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control
reported that chikungunya has affected approximately 240,000 people
and caused 90 deaths across at least 16 countries so far this year.
The mortality rate for chikungunya remains low and fatalities are rare.
What People Are Saying
The World Health Organization (WHO) said on its website: "Chikungunya
is a mosquito-borne viral disease that causes fever and severe joint pain.
It is caused by a ribonucleic acid (RNA) virus that belongs to the
alphavirus genus of the family Togaviridae."
101 | P a g e
It continued: "The name 'chikungunya' derives from a word in the
Kimakonde language of southern Tanzania, meaning "that which bends
up" and describes the stooped appearance of infected people with
severe joint pain (arthralgia)."
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on its
website: "Outbreaks have occurred in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe,
and islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. There is a risk the virus can
spread to unaffected areas by infected travelers."
What Happens Next?
Travelers to affected areas of China are advised by the CDC to practice
enhanced protective measures against mosquito bites, including using
EPA-registered insect repellent and staying in accommodations with
window screens or air conditioning.
Chinese public health officials have stepped up surveillance and vector
control campaigns in Foshan and Guangdong, seeking to contain the
spread and prevent the escalation of severe cases.

3 DEAD AND AT LEAST 67 SICK FROM GROWING
LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE CLUSTER IN NEW YORK CITY
https://abcnews.go.com/US/2-dead-58-sick-growing-legionnairesdisease-cluster/story?id=124367595
105 | P a g e
Three people have died and at least 67 people have been diagnosed with
Legionnaires’ disease in a cluster that broke out in the Harlem area
of New York City last week, officials said in an update on Tuesday.
Last week, when the New York City Health Department announced the
cluster of cases, officials said one person had died and 22 people were
sick.
The cases are clustered in five ZIP codes in central Harlem, the health
department said, and a spokesperson said the outbreak is not expected
to spread to other communities.
“People living or working in the area with flu-like symptoms, such as
cough, fever, chills, muscle aches, or difficulty breathing should contact a
health care provider immediately,” the department said in an earlier
statement on Monday. “It is especially important for people at higher risk
-- including those ages 50 and older, cigarette smokers, and people with
chronic lung disease or compromised immune systems -- to get care if
they have symptoms.”
Legionnaires’ disease is a type of pneumonia that is caused by the
bacteria Legionella, which grows in warm water, health officials said, and
people can get Legionnaires’ disease by breathing in water vapor that
contains Legionella bacteria.
In the update on Tuesday, the health department said, "This is not an
issue with any building's plumbing system. Residents in these ZIP codes
can continue to drink water, bathe, shower, cook, and use your air
conditioner."
The New York City Health Department said earlier it was investigating the
cluster and said that "the remediation required by the Department has
106 | P a g e
been completed for the 11 cooling towers with initial positive screening
results showing the presence of Legionella pneumophila, a type of
bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease."
Legionnaires’ disease can be caused by plumbing systems where
conditions are favorable for Legionella growth, such as cooling towers,
whirlpool spas, hot tubs, humidifiers, hot water tanks and evaporative
condensers of large air-conditioning systems, health officials said.
People can get Legionnaires’ disease by breathing in water vapor that
contains Legionella bacteria, but the disease does not generally spread
from person to person and can be treated with antibiotics.
The respiratory disease takes its name from an outbreak at the
Pennsylvania American Legion convention held at the Bellevue-Stratford
Hotel in Philadelphia in July 1976 and the bacterium believed to be
responsible is found in soil and grows in water, such as air-conditioning
ducts, storage tanks and rivers.

BANGLADESH DENGUE DEATHS TOP 100
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/bangladesh-dengue-deathstop-100-august-could-be-worse/ar-AA1Khkvi
DHAKA (Reuters) -Bangladesh is experiencing a surge in dengue cases
and deaths, with health experts warning that August could bring an even
more severe outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease if urgent action is
not taken.
Dengue has killed 101 people and infected 24,183 so far this year, official
data showed, placing a severe strain on the country’s already
overstretched healthcare system.
A sharp rise in fatalities has accompanied the spike in cases. Nineteen
people have already died of dengue so far in August, following 41 deaths
in July — more than double June's 19 fatalities.
109 | P a g e
"The situation is critical. The virus is already widespread across the
country, and without aggressive intervention, hospitals will be
overwhelmed," said Kabirul Bashar, an entomologist at Jahangirnagar
University.
"August could see at least three times as many cases as July, with
numbers potentially peaking in September."
Health officials are urging people to use mosquito repellents, sleep under
nets, and eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes breed.
"We need coordinated spraying and community clean-up drives,
especially in high-risk zones," Bashar said.
Experts say climate change, along with warm, humid weather and
intermittent rain, has created ideal breeding conditions for Aedes
mosquitoes, the carriers of the dengue virus.
110 | P a g e
While Dhaka remains a major hotspot, dengue is peaking across the
country. Large numbers of infections are being reported from outside the
capital, adding pressure to rural healthcare facilities with limited capacity
to treat severe cases.
Doctors warn that early medical attention is critical. Severe abdominal
pain, vomiting, bleeding, or extreme fatigue should prompt immediate
hospital visits to reduce the risk of complications or death.
With the peak dengue season still ahead, health experts have stressed
that community participation, alongside government-led mosquito
control, will be critical in preventing what could become one of
Bangladesh's worst outbreaks in years.
The deadliest year on record was 2023, with 1,705 deaths and more than
321,000 infections reported

SOMALIA FACES DIPHTHERIA SURGE AMID
VACCINE SHORTAGES AND AID CUTS
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/somalia-faces-diphtheria-surge-amid-vaccineshortages-and-aid-cuts/ar-AA1KOhRa
MOGADISHU (Reuters) -Diphtheria cases and deaths have risen sharply
this year in Somalia, where the response has been curtailed by vaccine
shortages and U.S. aid cuts, Somali officials said.
More than 1,600 cases, including 87 deaths, have been recorded, up from
838 cases and 56 deaths in all of 2024, said Hussein Abdukar Muhidin,
the general director of Somalia's National Institute of Health.
Diphtheria, a bacterial disease that causes swollen glands, breathing
problems and fever and mostly affects children, is preventable with a
vaccine that became widely available in the mid-20th century.
112 | P a g e
Childhood immunisation rates in Somalia have improved over the past
decade, but hundreds of thousands of children are still not fully
vaccinated.
After fleeing fighting between government forces and Islamist militants
in the central Somalia town of Ceeldheere three months ago, all four of
Deka Mohamed Ali's children, none of whom was vaccinated, contracted
diphtheria. Her 9-year-old daughter recovered, but her 8-year-old son
died and two toddlers are now being treated at a hospital in the capital
Mogadishu.
"My children got sick and I just stayed at home because I did not know it
was diphtheria," she told Reuters from the bedside of her 3-year-old son
Musa Abdullahi whose throat was swollen to the size of a lemon from the
infection.
113 | P a g e
Health Minister Ali Haji Adam said the government had struggled to
procure enough vaccines due to a global shortage and that U.S. aid cuts
were making it difficult to distribute the doses it had.
Before President Donald Trump cut most foreign assistance earlier this
year, the United States was the leading humanitarian donor to Somalia,
whose health budget is almost entirely funded by donors.
"The U.S. aid cut terribly affected the health funds it used to provide to
Somalia. Many health centres closed. Mobile vaccination teams that took
vaccines to remote areas lost funding and now do not work," said Adam.
Muhidin separately echoed his comments about the closures.
Overall U.S. foreign assistance commitments to Somalia stand at $149
million for the fiscal year that ends on September 30, compared with
$765 million in the previous fiscal year, according to U.S. government
statistics.
"The United States continues to provide lifesaving foreign assistance in
Somalia," a U.S. State Department spokesperson said when asked about
the impact of its aid cuts in the country.
"America is the most generous nation in the world, and we urge other
nations to dramatically increase their humanitarian efforts."
Aid group Save the Children said last month that the closure of hundreds
of health clinics in Somalia this year due to foreign cuts has contributed
to a doubling in the number of combined cases of diphtheria, measles,
whooping cough, cholera and severe respiratory infections since mid-
April.
114 | P a g e
Besides the U.S., Britain, France, Germany and other major Western
donors are also cutting aid budgets.
Somalia's government has also faced criticism from doctors and human
rights activists for its limited funding of the health sector. In 2024, it
allocated 4.8% of its budget to health, down from 8.5% the previous year,
Amnesty International said.
The health ministry did not respond to a question about that criticism. It
has said it is planning to launch a vaccination drive but has not given
details when.

‘ZOMBIE’ SQUIRRELS SPOTTED IN THE US: ARE THESE
PESTILENCES A BIBLICAL WARNING?
126 | P a g e
Grotesque-looking gray squirrels covered in wart-like tumors have been
spotted skulking through backyards across the United States, sparking
alarm among residents and fascination among wildlife experts.
Photographs shared online show the animals with oozing sores and
hairless patches on their heads and limbs, leading some to dub them
“zombie squirrels.” Sightings have been reported in Maine and parts of
Canada, with cases dating back to mid-2023 but surging again this
summer, according to the Daily Mail.
“At first I thought it was eating something from my front beds, but then I
realized it was on its face,” one Reddit user posted July 31 after spotting
a gray squirrel with a large tumor on its mouth.
Wildlife experts say the squirrels are most likely suffering from squirrel
fibromatosis, a viral skin disease caused by leporipoxvirus. The virus
spreads through direct contact with infected saliva or lesions and can
resemble herpes transmission in humans.
The disease is often mistaken for squirrelpox, which is more common in
the UK and often fatal to red squirrels. Fibromatosis, however, typically
runs its course in four to eight weeks. In severe cases, the growths can
spread internally and lead to death.
Despite their frightening appearance, experts insist the squirrels are no
danger to people, pets or birds.
“It’s like when you get a large concentration of people. If someone is sick
and it’s something that spreads easily, others are going to catch it,”
Shevenell Webb of Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
told the Bangor Daily News. Webb said backyard bird feeders often act
127 | P a g e
as transmission points because infected squirrels leave saliva or fluid
behind on seeds.
The unusual squirrel sightings come as Colorado officials warned of a
separate outbreak, the so-called “bunny blight.” Cottontail rabbits have
been spotted with black, tentacle-like growths sprouting from their
heads, caused by the Shope papilloma virus.
The Biblical Perspective
While wildlife officials view these outbreaks as naturally occurring
diseases, we as Christians can see them as reminders of a deeper spiritual
truth. In the Gospels, Jesus warned that before His return there would be
“pestilences” affecting the earth (Luke 21:11, Matt. 24:7). These
warnings were not limited to human sickness but speak to a broken
creation groaning under the curse of sin.
From the moment Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden, the entire
earth was subjected to corruption (Rom. 8:22). That curse has touched
every part of creation, from humanity to the animal kingdom. Outbreaks
like squirrel fibromatosis and rabbit papilloma remind us of that fallen
state.
Though unsettling, these events can point believers to the hope that one
day Jesus will return and restore creation, wiping away disease and death
forever (Rev. 21:4). Until then, they stand as warnings and signs,
reminders that the world is not as it was meant to be and that the day of
the Lord draws nearer.

MYSTERIOUS TENTACLE RABBITS: THE
ULTIMATE SIGN OF THE END TIMES?
Are the bizarre rabbits sprouting tentacle growths one of the greatest
signs we could have of the end times?
In Fort Collins, Colorado, one of the oddest mutations we have yet to see
in animal creatures is ramping up: rabbits with black growths covering
their faces. Some appear to look like horns, many of which also appear
to mirror that of a sea creature’s tentacle.
As Fox News noted, these growths are due to a viral infection that is
overtaking the animals’ faces. As they noted, “Rabbit papillomas are
growths on the skin caused by the cottontail rabbit papillomavirus,”
according to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife site.
In fact, some of these rabbits have somehow managed to stay alive for a
while with these awful deformities. As Charisma Media reported, a local
Colorado resident recounted how she saw one rabbit with what
appeared to be “black quills or black toothpicks sticking out all around
his or her mouth.” The resident believed the animal would pass away last
winter due to this abnormality, but it did not.
However, this is not the first time that we have seen strange occurrences
regarding animals in recent months.
Earlier this year we saw the emergence of the “doomsday” oarfish begin
appearing on shorelines, including near the coast of Baja,
California. However, these ribbon-like fish are deep-sea creatures and are
not typically found at sea level. We even saw the Sea of Galilee recently
turned a blood-red color due to a green microalga know as Botryococcus
braunii. So, with these strange and unpredictable animal sightings, what
may the earth be telling us about the current times that we are living in?
131 | P a g e
From a biblical perspective, these strange and unsettling events—rabbits
sprouting tentacle-like growths, deep-sea “doomsday” fish appearing on
shorelines, and waters turning red—serve as sobering reminders of
Jesus’ words about the end times. He warned that in the last days there
would be “fearful sights and great signs from heaven” (Luke 21:11). Just
as the prophets of old described plagues, strange phenomena and
disruptions in nature as signs calling people to repentance, these bizarre
occurrences may be a wake-up call for us to turn our hearts back to God
before the return of Christ.
Whether these tentacle-faced rabbits are purely a natural virus mutation
or part of a larger prophetic pattern, believers are reminded to remain
watchful, discerning the signs of the times.

SEA OF GALILEE TURNS BLOOD-RED, STIRRING
END-TIMES SPECULATION
135 | P a g e
SEA OF GALILEE TURNS BLOOD-RED
The Sea of Galilee has taken on an unexpected and striking crimson hue,
leaving both residents and tourists in awe. Waves tinted deep red rolled
toward the shore, prompting comparisons to the plagues of Egypt
described in the book of Exodus.
“Stunned visitors watched crimson waves roll onto the shore, with some
comparing the eerie transformation to the 10 plagues God inflicted on
the Egyptians,” the Daily Mail reported. The scene unfolded on Israel’s
most storied freshwater lake, a place central to the history of both
Judaism and Christianity.
136 | P a g e
Israel’s environmental ministry traced the phenomenon to a bloom of
Botryococcus braunii, a green microalga that can produce a reddish
pigment under intense sunlight. Officials confirmed that “tests show the
water is safe for swimming, despite its unsettling hue.” Scientists at the
Kinneret Research Laboratory also found the algae to be harmless, noting
no reported health issues.
This microalga, present in freshwater and brackish habitats around the
world, is known for generating hydrocarbons similar to crude oil. Such
blooms occur when warm weather, ample nutrients and sunlight create
favorable conditions for pigment production.
The Sea of Galilee is not the only body of water in the region to undergo
such a transformation. In 2021, a pool near the Dead Sea in Jordan’s
ancient region of Moab turned a vivid red. That site is traditionally
connected to Sodom and Gomorrah, cities the Bible records as destroyed
for their wickedness.
Biblical and Prophetic Significance
Though scientists have given a natural explanation, the imagery carries
deep spiritual weight. The sight brings to mind the first plague of Egypt
in Exodus 7:17–21, when God turned the Nile to blood as a sign of
judgment and a call to repentance.
The Sea of Galilee itself holds immense New Testament significance as
well, it is where Jesus walked on water, calmed the storm, fed multitudes
and called several of His disciples. To see its waters turn scarlet evokes
both the reality of judgment and the hope found in Christ’s sacrificial
blood.
137 | P a g e
Prophecy in Revelation 8:8 and 16:3–4 describes future judgments in
which seas and rivers will become like blood during the Great Tribulation.
While this current event is not the fulfillment of those passages, it visually
mirrors them and reminds us to remain spiritually alert.
In Matthew 16:3, Jesus urged His listeners to discern “the signs of the
times.” While this algae bloom is a natural occurrence, its location and
biblical context invite prayerful reflection on God’s purposes in the
present moment.
Moments such as this should inspire faith rather than fear. They affirm
the reliability of God’s Word and encourage readiness for whatever lies
ahead. As the world witnesses unusual signs in creation, we are called to
live with discernment and hope, trusting that Christ holds the future.

CHINESE REGIME IMPOSES COVID-STYLE
CONTROLS AMID CHIKUNGUNYA OUTBREAK
Authorities destroy vegetable plots and seal manholes to block city
sewers as infections surge.
The chikungunya outbreak continues to spread in China, leading local
authorities to apply strict control measures similar to those used during
the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Aug. 12, six provinces and regions—Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian,
Hainan, Yunnan, and Guangxi—were designated category I areas by the
Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention for chikungunya
outbreak prevention and control.
More recently, the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and
Prevention posted on its official WeChat account that 830 new local cases
of the mosquito-borne virus were reported in the province from Aug. 10
to Aug.16. According to the communist regime’s officially published data,
there have been 9,933 cases in Guangdong since the first confirmed case
appeared on July 8 in the city of Foshan, which has been hardest hit.
Confirmed cases have been detected in more than 10 cities in Guangdong
Province, according to the center.
The virus has also spread to other regions such as Macau and Hong Kong,
with cases also being reported in Beijing in July.
With the Chinese regime’s record of censoring data that it considers
politically sensitive—as seen with its cover-up of COVID-19 infections and
related deaths in late 2019—the actual number of known chikungunya
infections could be higher.
140 | P a g e
Chikungunya fever is a viral disease mainly transmitted to humans by
mosquitoes. Its symptoms are similar to those of dengue fever. Patients
usually experience fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, headache,
fatigue, and rashes.
Deaths from the disease are rare but do occur, especially among
vulnerable populations such as those with underlying health conditions.
There is no specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Level 2
travel alert on Aug. 1 for China as the chikungunya virus outbreak spread.
Although Chinese health authorities had not reported any severe cases
or deaths, the regime’s local authorities have imposed control measures
similar to those imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as
mandatory hospital quarantines—which patients must pay for—and PCR
testing, provoking public fears of draconian lockdowns.
Authorities have also adopted mandatory blood draws for PCR testing
and have released millions of genetically modified lab mosquitoes weekly
in an attempt to reduce the mosquito population, raising public concerns.
In recent days, according to Chinese language media reports and social
media posts by Chinese citizens, as well as what they have told The Epoch
Times, communist authorities have adopted more extreme control
measures, seriously disrupting people’s lives.
Destroying Vegetable Plots
In response to the chikungunya outbreak, local authorities in Guangdong
Province have implemented an extreme prevention and control measure
141 | P a g e
in which they use machinery to uproot vegetables from villagers’ plots
and residents’ gardens and then seal the areas with cement.
Epidemic control staff have also sprayed pesticides throughout villages
and cities.
According to Chinese media reports, authorities’ “cleanup efforts” to
prevent mosquitoes not only targeted wasteland but also extended to
vegetable gardens in residents’ own yards that they had carefully tended
for years, without adequate prior notice or compensation.
“I’ve been growing this vegetable plot for five years, and it’s all for our
own consumption,” one villager told Tangren Daily. “It’s not only clean
but also healthy. Now, it’s all gone overnight. We are willing to cooperate
with epidemic prevention measures, but epidemic prevention doesn’t
mean destroying our lives.”
Mainland Chinese media outlet Beijing News reported that a resident in
Foshan posted a video on social media on Aug. 11 showing some
residents’ vegetable plots being destroyed by authorities. A staff member
from a community office told the outlet that the reason for the action
was that there was a chikungunya outbreak in the area and that the
vegetable plots had stagnant water and compost, creating a breeding
ground for mosquitoes.
More video posts on social media show that once-healthy vegetable plots
had been completely sealed with cement in Foshan to prevent
chikungunya. A large number of workers were clearing away greenery in
the city in the name of preventing mosquitoes from hiding in it, according
to Chinese-language media reports.
142 | P a g e
Wang, a Foshan resident who gave only his last name because of safety
concerns, told The Epoch Times on Aug. 17 that authorities had launched
a huge campaign to get rid of mosquitoes, which has seriously disrupted
people’s lives.
“The epidemic control staff went to people’s homes, causing widespread
public outrage and anxiety. Everything in residents’ homes was ripped
out or emptied out, from plants and vegetables to flower pots and even
cats’ drinking water,” he said.
Shen, a migrant worker working in Guangdong who didn’t give his full
name because of safety concerns, also told The Epoch Times on Aug. 17
that “all the vegetables people planted in their own land were ripped
out.”
Large-scale spraying of pesticides and clearing of vegetable plots also
occurred in Guigang, Guilin, Nanning, Hezhou, and other places in
Guangxi Province, according to local residents.
Mosquito Nets Installed in City Sewers
Typhoon Yangliu, also called Podul, made landfall in Fujian Province on
Aug. 14, bringing with it heavy rains that fell in Guangdong, Guangxi,
Sichuan, and other regions.
Days before the typhoon hit in Foshan, local residents posted videos of
authorities there installing mosquito nets in the manholes of the city’s
sewer system as part of chikungunya prevention. Residents complained
online that the mosquito nets blocked drainage and caused severe urban
flooding.
“They’ve installed screens on all the manholes along the streets, taping
them tightly,” Shen said. “And then there were the heavy rains in Foshan
143 | P a g e
these past couple of days. The water couldn’t go down the sewers, and
the downpour was so intense that the city was flooded. Isn’t this
excessive prevention? It’s absurd.”
Dr. Chian-Feng Huang, an attending psychiatrist and director of Miaoli
General Hospital in Taiwan who specializes in preventive medicine, told
The Epoch Times that effective chikungunya prevention and control
measures include installing screens on windows and doors, installing air
conditioning, and wearing light-colored, long-sleeved clothing.
“Community prevention measures include removing sources of
contamination, such as containers prone to water accumulation,” Huang
said.

on Aug. 14, 2025, as Typhoon Podul weakens to a severe tropical storm.

He noted that Guangdong appeared to be returning to the extreme
lockdown measures of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Measures like mandatory PCR testing, mandatory self-paid quarantine,
and forced blood draws have exceeded the actual epidemic prevention
needs,” Huang said.
“This raises the question of whether they are using this as an opportunity
to establish a database of citizens’ blood.
“Furthermore, the block of drainage has exacerbated flooding, which is
the consequence of the authorities’ misguided and extreme epidemic
prevention measures. Yet the public is bearing the brunt of this burden.”
Sean Lin, an assistant professor in the Biomedical Science Department at
Fei Tian College and a former U.S. Army microbiologist, also told The
Epoch Times that installing mosquito nets over the manholes of the
sewer system is “a completely unreasonable approach.”
“Mosquitoes thrive in stagnant water. Sewer water is generally flowing,
so it’s not a place where mosquitoes would be attracted. If the sewer has
become stagnant, then the goal is to clean it and get the water flowing,“
he said. ”So adding a so-called protective film or screen over the
manholes only increases the obstruction to water flow.”

CHINESE AUTHORITIES MANDATING BLOOD TESTS,
RELEASING LAB MOSQUITOES TO FIGHT CHIKUNGUNYA
OUTBREAK
Authorities have released millions of mosquitoes in a disease-control
program, but China is now experiencing its largest Chikungunya
outbreak.
146 | P a g e
As the chikungunya outbreak continues to spread in China, the
prevention and control measures imposed by the Chinese communist
regime have been causing increasing concerns among medical
professionals and the Chinese public.
Guangdong Province reported 1,387 new chikungunya cases between
Aug. 3 and Aug. 9, according to a notice by the provincial Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention. There have been no deaths from the
virus reported so far, according to the Chinese agency.
According to state media, as of July 29, the cumulative number of
chikungunya cases in Foshan, Guangdong—where the first cases of the
outbreak were reported on July 8—had exceeded 6,000.
Because of the Chinese communist regime’s record of censoring data it
considers to be politically sensitive—as was seen with its cover-up of
COVID-19 infections and related deaths in late 2019—the true number of
known chikungunya fever infections could be higher.
Chikungunya fever is a viral disease mainly transmitted to humans by
mosquitoes. Its symptoms are similar to those of dengue fever. Patients
usually experience fever, severe joint pain, muscle pain, headache,
fatigue, and rash.
There is no specific antiviral treatment for chikungunya. Deaths from the
disease are rare but do occur, especially among vulnerable populations
such as those with underlying health conditions.
Globally, as of July 2025, chikungunya fever has resulted in 90 deaths
across 16 countries and territories.
The outbreak in China started in the hardest-hit city, Foshan. Confirmed
cases have since been detected in more than 10 cities in Guangdong
147 | P a g e
Province, according to the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease
Control and Prevention.
The Macau Health Bureau reported a case of chikungunya fever on July
18. Hong Kong health authorities reported a case on Aug. 2. Both cases
were identified as children who exhibited symptoms after returning from
a trip to Foshan, according to the local health authorities.
The chikungunya virus has also spread to northern China. The Beijing
Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued a prevention reminder
on July 22, warning of occasional cases allegedly imported to Beijing from
abroad. However, Beijing officials have not released any data.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a Level 2
travel alert on Aug. 1 for China as the chikungunya virus outbreak
continues to spread.
Chinese doctors and residents told The Epoch Times that the
chikungunya virus has spread to more places in China.
A Chinese doctor whose work is related to disease prevention spoke to
The Epoch Times on Aug. 10 on the condition of anonymity, out of safety
concerns. The doctor said that chikungunya has spread to the megacity
of Chongqing in southwest China, as well as Wuhan city in central China.
A resident said in a video post on social media that chikungunya fever has
spread to Hunan Province, adjacent to Guangdong, and that registration
is required when purchasing any medications that treat fever.
Foshan Municipal Market Supervision Bureau has introduced sales
control of 47 medications for treating fever, rash, joint pain, and other
symptoms caused by chikungunya in all retail pharmacies in the city,
148 | P a g e
requiring registration for any sales, according to a notice it issued on Aug.
4.
The Chinese regime has also imposed mandatory measures that have
sparked fears of a return to the regime’s draconian COVID-19 restrictions,
such as mandatory self-paid quarantine and PCR testing.
Local residents and medical professionals have especially expressed
concerns about mandatory PCR testing of blood samples for the
chikungunya virus, which the regime has been pushing in its public
messaging.
Mandatory Blood Draws
Local residents in various locations around Guangdong Province posted
on social media that mandatory blood tests are being implemented for
PCR testing for chikungunya, which is different from the saliva tests for
COVID-19.
A patient said in a video post that after hospital staff drew three flasks of
blood from him, he tested positive for chikungunya. He questioned why
the hospital had to take three tubes for testing.
The Chinese doctor, whose work is related to disease prevention, said
that the chikungunya virus requires blood for PCR testing, as it is a bloodborne
disease.
“Blood draws are also used for tertiary monitoring, and vaccine
development requires the isolation of toxins from the blood, so a
relatively large amount of blood needs to be drawn,” he said.
149 | P a g e
A Guangzhou city resident posted on social media on Aug. 9 that Jiangnan
Middle Street community office staff came to his home and demanded
that the residents allow their blood to be drawn. He refused, and a group
of staff repeatedly came back to demand it. Another resident in
Guangdong revealed in a video post on Aug. 10 that his community office
staff came at 10 p.m. to draw their blood for chikungunya PCR testing.
Mainland Chinese media outlets reported that in the early morning hours
of Aug. 4, community office officials in Guangdong’s Zhanjiang City
forcibly drew blood from two minors in the absence of their parents,
sparking public outrage.
“Chinese government officials taking advantage of parents’ absences to
draw blood from children is a serious violation of medical ethics,” Sean
Lin, assistant professor in the Biomedical Science Department at Feitian
College and former U.S. Army microbiologist, told NTD, a sister outlet of
The Epoch Times, on Aug. 10.
150 | P a g e
Lin said that based on the reports of such harsh actions, he suspects that
the Chinese regime “is concealing information about whether other
pathogens are also present in [the] outbreak along with Chikungunya, as
mosquitoes in Guangdong carry more than one infectious disease.”
Lin said that the Chinese Communist Party’s public health department
should publish a research report as soon as possible, especially during
the peak of the outbreak.
“It’s easy to catch a lot of mosquitoes for research to see if there were
other viruses circulating at the same time, which can spare ordinary
people the pain of forced quarantine and blood tests,” he said.

Mosquito Lab Breeding Program Sparks Concerns
Chinese state media reported in early August that China’s largest
mosquito breeding facility in Huangpu District of Guangzhou, Wolbaki,
was running at full capacity and releasing 5 million specially treated male
mosquitoes per week, in hopes that they would mate with the wild
female mosquito population to produce unviable eggs in a population
control technique known as Wolbachia transinfection—through which
the reproductive compatibility of male mosquitoes is altered by an
infection with the common naturally occurring Wolbachia bacterium.
Wolbaki’s founder was once the director of the Joint Center of Vector
Control for Tropical Diseases, another mosquito breeding facility, at
Guangzhou’s Sun Yat-sen University, in partnership with Michigan State
University, where Xi is a professor of microbiology, genetics, and
immunology.
“When the [infected] male mosquitoes carrying the Wolbachia
bacterium mate with wild female mosquitoes that do not carry the
bacteria, the eggs produced cannot develop normally due to cytoplasmic
incompatibility and cannot hatch into mosquito larvae,” Gong Juntao, the
head researcher at Guangdong’s Wolbaki company that produces the
mosquitoes, told Chinese media.
However, the method has some flaws; if infected lab females are not
separated and instead released into the wild, they can continue to
successfully breed and spread disease.
The company claims to have developed an automated technology to
efficiently separate male from female lab-bred mosquito pupae, with an
error rate of less than 0.5 percent. But Lin said that given the huge
number of mosquitoes released, an error rate of 0.5 percent “means
there are still about 25,000 female mosquitoes that can transmit diseases
being released every week.”
152 | P a g e
Aedes aegypti mosquitoes infected with the Wolbachia bacterium—
which reduces mosquito-transmitted diseases such as dengue and
chikungunya by shortening adult lifespan, affecting mosquito
reproduction, and interfering with pathogen replication—at the Oswaldo
Cruz foundation in Rio de Janeiro.
In May, Chinese media reported that China’s biggest mosquito breeding
facility in Huangpu District of Guangzhou, which it referred to as only the
China mosquito research center, was running a pilot study to produce 30
million Wolbachia-infected male mosquitoes—sustained on sheep’s
blood—to release every month as part of the authorities’ diseaseprevention
efforts targeting the mosquito-borne dengue, Zika, and
chikungunya viruses.
Two months later, China saw its biggest chikungunya outbreak on record.
153 | P a g e
China’s efforts to curb the reproduction of wild mosquitoes through
mass-produced lab males infected with Wolbachia “have failed two
rounds,” the Chinese doctor told The Epoch Times. He predicted that in
southern and north-central China, the number of mosquitoes carrying
the chikungunya virus will rapidly increase before winter.

WHO ISSUES ALERT AS 'BLEEDING EYE DISEASE' SPREADS
ACROSS AFRICAN REGION, KILLING EIGHT
https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/other/who-issues-alert-as-bleeding-eye-diseasespreads-across-african-region-killing-eight/ar-AA1LOeJF
A critical health alert has been issued as a lethal disease ravages a region
in Africa.
Eight deaths have been reported after Ebola-like symptoms emerged in
the Mweka district of Kasai, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Samples are currently being analyzed in laboratories, though initial
results indicate Ebola has been circulating within the area.
155 | P a g e
Marburg virus disease (MVD), which bears resemblance to Ebola, is
thought to be the specific pathogen responsible.
MVD, which kills in the majority of cases, is sometimes called "bleeding
eye disease" because it damages blood vessels, causing bleeding from
various body openings, including the eyes, according to the Express.
Meanwhile, warnings have been sent to neighboring countries about
another fatal illness, with more than 400,000 cholera cases recorded
across 31 countries this year.
Experts say multiple factors are fueling the outbreak, including conflict,
poverty and climate change.
This year alone, it has caused nearly 5,000 fatalities.
The World Health Organization warned that the crisis presents "very high
risk" and could spread further without swift action.
Such actions include providing clean water and proper sanitation systems
for communities.
Some countries previously issued travel restrictions to halt transmission.
However, none are currently in effect, though experts recommend
travelers remain cautious. WHO has identified several nations as being
severely impacted by cholera outbreaks.
A spokesperson for the organization warned, "Cholera outbreaks
continue to escalate across multiple countries, with seven of the 31
countries now reporting case fatality rates above 1%, indicating serious
gaps in case management and delayed access to care.
156 | P a g e
"Among these, four countries - Chad, the Democratic Republic of the
Congo (DRC), South Sudan, and Sudan - are currently classified as being
in a major outbreak due to the severity and scale of their outbreaks.
"Cross-border population movement, particularly in areas with porous
borders and high mobility, further exacerbates the risk of regional
spread. Many of these countries share borders and experience frequent
migration due to trade, displacement, and conflict, increasing the
likelihood of cholera transmission across national boundaries.
"Given the scale, severity, and interconnected nature of these outbreaks,
the risk of further spread within and between countries is considered
very high.
"Without urgent and coordinated public health measures, including
improved case management, WASH interventions, vaccination
campaigns, and cross-border collaboration, cholera transmission is likely
to expand across countries."

An unknown fatal disease is ravaging the war-torn country of Congo.
According to the World Health Organization, at least 53 people have been
killed during the outbreaks that started last month in the northwest
region, which is currently battling a rebel incursion in the east.
An outbreak of another unidentified flu-like disease was reported in
southwestern Congo in December, resulting in the deaths of at least 71
people.

More than 419 cases of the disease have been reported since the first
recorded case on Jan. 21 in Boloko.
The first case is understood to have resulted from three children
developing symptoms of hemorrhagic fever after eating a bat. The
children died within 48 hours.
According to WHO, Africa has witnessed a 60% rise in disease outbreaks
linked to humans eating wild animals in the last decade.
The second outbreak of the unidentified illness occurred in Bomate on
Feb. 9.
WHO added that more than a dozen samples were issued to the National
Institute for Biomedical Research in the capital city of Kinshasa to
conduct further testing.
The tests have returned negative results for common hemorrhagic fever
diseases, including Ebola and Marburg. However, some have tested
positive for malaria.

AFRICA LAUNCHES CHOLERA RESPONSE PLAN

Africa is stepping up efforts to tackle cholera with the launch of a new
continental emergency preparedness and response plan… This comes as
Sudan battles a sharp surge in infections, recording over a thousand new
cases in just one week.
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in partnership
with the World Health Organization, has unveiled a continental cholera
emergency preparedness and response plan in Lusaka, Zambia. The plan
aims to strengthen early detection systems, rapid response capacity, and
cross-border cooperation as the continent faces recurrent outbreaks,
often fueled by climate shocks and fragile health systems.
The urgency of the initiative is underscored by the situation in Sudan. The
country has reported more than 1,200 new cholera cases and 36 deaths
in just one week, according to health officials. Since the outbreak began
in May, at least 158 people have died. Sudan’s conflict and collapsing
infrastructure have slowed access to treatment, making the crisis even
harder to contain.
Health experts warn that without coordinated action, cholera—which is
both preventable and treatable—could continue to spread widely. The
new African plan is being hailed as a critical step to save lives and
strengthen resilience against future outbreaks.
Authorities stress that investing in clean water, sanitation, and vaccines
remains central to ending cholera’s deadly toll across Africa.

STUDY DETAILS EVOLUTION OF MIDDLE EAST
RESPIRATORY SYNDROME CORONAVIRUS
“Spillovers of MERS-CoV into the human population in the Arabian
Peninsula pose a substantial public health concern.”
A new study published in Emerging Infectious Diseases reinforces the
urgent need for surveillance of Middle East respiratory syndrome
coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and phenotypic studies to monitor MERS-CoV
spillover, adaptation, and pandemic potential.
MERS-CoV circulates in dromedary camels in the Arabian Peninsula and
occasionally causes spillover infections in humans. Since 2012, a total of
2,626 cases of MERS-CoV, including 953 deaths, have been reported by
health authorities worldwide.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, few human cases of
MERS-CoV have been reported in Saudi Arabia, in stark contrast to the
large epidemic outbreaks reported during 2012–2019. The small number
of reported MERS-CoV infections might be because of limited MERS-CoV
surveillance and nonpharmaceutical interventions that were in place
during the COVID-19 pandemic or because of phenotypic changes in
circulating MERS-CoV. 1

Since the beginning of 2024, and as of 2 December 2024, five MERS-CoV
cases, including four fatalities, have been reported in Saudi Arabia with
date of onset in 2024.2
Researchers in the current study collected 558 swabs from camels in
Saudi Arabia over approximately 1-year period. They found 39% were
positive for MERS-CoV RNA. Sequencing results were most similar to B5
lineage sequences and harbored unique genetic features, including novel
amino acid polymorphisms in the spike protein.
“The distinct sublineages in clade B5-2023 did not cluster geographically,
indicating that dromedary camels are maintaining virus diversity across
different sites within the central Arabian Peninsula,” noted the study
authors.
Although MERS cases have been reported among children and adults of
all ages, most reported MERS cases have been in older adults. Most
hospitalized MERS patients have had pre-existing medical conditions that
likely increased their risk for severe illness. Among global cases reported
to date, the mortality rate of MERS cases reported to the World Health
Organization (WHO) is approximately 35%.
