Queridos amigos y amigas,

Es una gran alegría darles la bienvenida

al 11º Canta al mar – Festival Coral

Internacional 2025. Este festival, uno de

los más entrañables de INTERKULTUR,

vuelve a reunir en la Costa Barcelona a

coros de todo el mundo en un ambiente

único de música y fraternidad.

En esta edición nos acompañan con

orgullo 37 agrupaciones corales de 22

países de África, Asia, las Américas,

Europa y Oriente Medio. Todos ellos llegan

para compartir conciertos, participar en

concursos, descubrir Calella y Barcelona

y, sobre todo, disfrutar de la emoción de

cantar juntos en paz y armonía.

El lema de INTERKULTUR, «Cantar juntos

une a las naciones», ha inspirado a miles

de voces durante más de 25 años y sigue

el espíritu olímpico coral: «Participar

es el mayor honor». Con esta misma

ilusión anunciamos que los 14º World

Choir Games se celebrarán del 6 al 16 de

agosto de 2026 en Helsingborg, Suecia.

¡Será un placer enorme contar también

con ustedes allí!

Nuestro agradecimiento más sincero va

dirigido a todos los coros, directores y

amantes de la música por su esfuerzo,

dedicación y pasión, que hacen posible

este festival en Calella y Barcelona.

Estimats amics i amigues,

We would like to welcome you to the

11 th Canta al mar – Festival Coral

Internacional 2025! Heralded as one of

INTERKULTUR’s most popular choral

festivals, this event continues to attract

numerous choirs from around the globe to

the Costa Barcelona.

In this year’s rendition we proudly welcome

37 choral ensembles from 22 nations in

Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and

the Middle East – all coming together to

compete, hold meaningful concerts, explore

Calella’s and Barcelona’s surroundings, and

experience the joy of singing together in

peace.

INTERKULTUR’s motto, “Singing together

brings nations together,” has inspired

singers from all over the world for more

than 25 years and follows the Choir Olympic

idea, “Participating is the highest honor.”

In the aim of realizing this noble idea, we

were able to announce the 14 th World Choir

Games 2026 – taking place from August

6 th to the 16 th , 2026 in Helsingborg, Sweden.

We warmly invite you to be a part of it!

Our thanks go to all the choirs, conductors,

and music lovers. Your hard work, dedication,

passion, and presence have made this

festival possible in Calella and Barcelona.

We would also like to express our deepest

gratitude to our partners for their great work

and valued support – especially the city of

benvinguda a l’11è Canta al mar – Festival

Coral Internacional 2025! Aquest festival,

un dels més estimats d’INTERKULTUR,

torna a reunir a la Costa Barcelona cors

d’arreu del món en un ambient únic de

música i amistat.

Enguany comptem amb 37 formacions

corals de 22 països d’Àfrica, Àsia, les

Amèriques, Europa i l’Orient Mitjà. Totes

elles ens acompanyen per compartir

concerts, competir amb entusiasme,

descobrir Calella i Barcelona i, sobretot,

gaudir de la felicitat de cantar junts en

harmonia i pau.

El lema d’INTERKULTUR, «Cantar junts

Un año más, gracias al Festival Canta

al Mar, las calles de Calella se volverán

a llena de canciones interpretadas con

increíble precisión por decenas de grupos

corales llegados de todas partes. Personas

procedentes de los cuatro continentes

unirán sus voces, convirtiendo cada

rincón de esta Ciudad en un escenario

improvisado, testigo de una mágica unión

entre culturas, como si cada nota nos

marcara el camino hacia la necesaria

unidad de la humanidad que, por unos

días, se expresará con una sola voz.

Mirar este festival como una simple

competición de canto coral no haría

justicia a un acontecimiento que va mucho

más allá, hasta convertirse en una manera

de superar fronteras y derribar muros.

Gracias al Festival Canta al Mar, durante

unos días, los corazones de diferentes

pueblos del mundo latirán al mismo

ritmo. Y que esto suceda en Calella es

Once again, thanks to the Canta al mar –

Festival Coral Internacional, the streets of

Calella will be graced with songs performed

with remarkable precision by dozens of

choirs arriving from across the globe.

Voices from the four continents will unite,

transforming every corner of our city into an

improvised stage – a living testimony to the

magical bond between cultures, as if each

note were guiding us towards the essential

unity of humanity, which, for a few days, will

be expressed with one single voice.

To regard this festival merely as a choral

competition would not do justice to an event

that transcends its artistic dimension,

becoming a powerful symbol of overcoming

borders and breaking down walls.

Thanks to the Canta al mar - Festival Coral

Internacional, for a few days, the hearts of

peoples from all nations will beat in unison.

That this should take place here in Calella

Un any més, gràcies al Festival Canta al

Mar, els carrers de Calella es tornaran

a omplir de cançons interpretades amb

increïble precisió per desenes de grups

corals vinguts d‘arreu. Persones arribades

dels quatre continents uniran les seves

veus, convertint cada racó d‘aquesta

ciutat en un escenari improvisat, testimoni

d‘una màgica unió entre cultures, com si

cada nota ens marqués el camí cap a la

necessària unitat de la humanitat que, per

uns dies, s‘expressarà amb una sola veu.

Mirar aquest festival com una simple

competició de cant coral no faria justícia

Como Presidente Artístico Honorario de

INTERKULTUR, puedo mirar atrás a más

de 30 años de participación y responsabilidad

en más de 150 de nuestros festivales

en todo el mundo. He contribuido a

desarrollar distintos concursos, organizar

experiencias de conciertos memorables y

transmitir a los coros confianza y orgullo

en sus logros, regalándoles éxitos y alegría.

Desde el principio, Calella ha sido para

mí un lugar muy especial. Aquí he encontrado

compañeros que han dedicado toda

su energía a nuestro lema coral-olímpico

“Singing together brings nations together”,

preparando el camino para vivencias

artísticas y turísticas inolvidables, y que

continúan trabajando con gran empeño en

este proyecto.

Espero con ilusión el 11º Canta del Sol y

agradezco a todos los que lo hacen posible.

As INTERKULTUR’s Honorary Artistic President,

I can look back on more than 30 years

of active involvement and responsibility at

over 150 of our festivals around the world.

I have helped to develop different competitions,

to organize memorable concert experiences,

and to instil choirs with confidence

and pride in their achievements – bringing

them both success and joy.

From the very beginning, Calella has been a

truly special place for me. Here I have met

companions who devoted their full energy

to our choral-olympic motto “Singing together

brings nations together”, paving the

way for unforgettable artistic and touristic

experiences, and who continue to work with

great dedication on this project.

I am very much looking forward to the

11 th Canta del Sol and would like to thank

all those involved.

bienvenida a la XI edición de Canta al Mar

– Festival Coral Internacional en nuestra

querida ciudad de Calella y en Barcelona.

Desde 2012, este festival se ha convertido

en un faro para coros de todo el mundo, un

lugar donde la música trasciende idiomas y

fronteras, y donde cada voz encuentra eco

en la amistad y en el espíritu mediterráneo.

Hoy, once ediciones después, seguimos

honrando esa tradición que une a nuestra

comunidad local con una gran familia coral

internacional.

El mar, con su incesante murmullo, nos

recuerda la fuerza y la constancia de la

música. Sus olas nos invitan a dejar que

nuestras voces se mezclen con la brisa,

llenando de armonía las plazas, iglesias y

escenarios que acogerán este encuentro.

Aquí, en la costa catalana, cada canción

se convierte en un puente tendido hacia

nuevas amistades, en una celebración

It is with great joy that we welcome you to the

11 th edition of Canta al Mar – International

Choir Festival in our beloved city of Calella

and in Barcelona.

Since 2012, this festival has become a

beacon for choirs from all over the world,

a place where music transcends languages

and borders, and where every voice

finds resonance in friendship and in the

Mediterranean spirit. Eleven editions later,

we continue to honor that tradition which

unites our local community with the global

choral family.

The sea, with its constant murmur, reminds

us of the strength and persistence of music.

Its waves invite us to let our voices blend with

the breeze, filling the squares, churches,

and stages that will host this gathering with

harmony. Here, on the Catalan coast, each

song becomes a bridge to new friendships,

a shared celebration of life and culture.

Canta al mar is not just a festival: it is a

symbol of unity and hope, a space where

hearts beat in the same rhythm, where

each choir brings its own light and together

we compose a symphony of diversity and

fraternity.

May this edition allow us to sing, to laugh, to

be moved and to create memories that last

long beyond these days. Let us remember

És amb una gran alegria que us donem la

benvinguda a l’XI edició del Canta al Mar

– Festival Coral Internacional a la nostra

estimada ciutat de Calella i a Barcelona.

Des de l’any 2012, aquest festival s’ha

convertit en un far per a cors d’arreu del

món: un espai on la música transcendeix

llengües i fronteres, i on cada veu troba

ressò en l’amistat i en l’esperit mediterrani.

Onze edicions després, continuem

honorant aquesta tradició que uneix la

nostra comunitat local amb la gran família

coral internacional.

El mar, amb el seu murmuri incessant,

ens recorda la força i la constància de la

música. Les seves onades ens conviden

a deixar que les nostres veus es barregin

amb la brisa, omplint d’harmonia les

places, les esglésies i els escenaris que

acolliran aquesta trobada. Aquí, a la costa

catalana, cada cançó esdevé un pont cap a

noves amistats, una celebració compartida

de la vida i de la cultura.

Canta al Mar no és només un festival: és un

... UN PUENTE HACIA EL ENCUENTRO.

Más de 35 años de éxito: Desde 1988, INTERKULTUR, fundada por Günter Titsch, es

la principal organizadora mundial de concursos y festivales corales internacionales.

La serie de eventos se ha hecho conocida en todo el mundo por sus altos estándares

artísticos y organizativos. INTERKULTUR es un concepto para coros de todo el mundo, y

el entusiasmo por sus concursos y festivales sigue creciendo constantemente.

Durante más de 35 años, cantantes y coros de todo el mundo han celebrado la música

coral internacional con INTERKULTUR en diferentes ciudades y continentes. Ya sea en el

Palau de la Música de Barcelona o en el Konzerthaus Liebfrauen Wernigerode, destinos

soñados en Europa o Asia; dondequiera que vayan, los participantes experimentan un

festival pacífico, mundial y de alto nivel artístico, de canto y música coral intercultural.

Los Conciertos de la Amistad y eventos conjuntos de canto complementan el gran

impacto emocional de los encuentros corales internacionales de INTERKULTUR.

INTERKULTUR une naciones. En 2004 y 2006 — tras largas negociaciones — la

organización logró reunir sobre el escenario coros de Corea del Norte y Corea del Sur.

También, coros de países como Israel e Irán se han reunido en los festivales corales,

encendiendo una llama de paz en los Conciertos de la Amistad.

Participar es el mayor honor.

El mayor éxito de INTERKULTUR hasta la fecha ha sido llevar la antigua idea olímpica

a la comunidad coral. Las Olimpiadas Corales 2000 en Linz, Austria, fueron el inicio de

un movimiento coral olímpico que continúa recorriendo el mundo: la historia de éxito

siguió con eventos en Busan, República de Corea en 2002 y Bremen, Alemania en 2004,

y desde 2006 bajo el nombre “World Choir Games” en Xiamen, China; Graz, Austria en

2008; Shaoxing, China en 2010; Cincinnati, EE.UU. en 2012; Riga, Letonia en 2014; y la

ciudad olímpica de invierno Sochi, Rusia en 2016. La edición del 10º aniversario de los

World Choir Games en 2018 se celebró por primera vez en suelo africano: Tshwane,

Sudáfrica, atrajo más de 300 coros y más de 16,000 participantes en julio de 2018.

Debido a la pandemia mundial de COVID-19, la 11ª edición de los World Choir Games,

organizada por las ciudades de Amberes y Gante en Bélgica, se pospuso de julio de 2020

al otoño de 2021. Por primera vez en la historia del evento, estos juegos se celebraron

de forma híbrida con competiciones presenciales en Flandes y una parte adicional de

competiciones virtuales. La 12ª edición invitó a coros de todo el mundo a Gangneung,

República de Corea, en el verano de 2023, mientras que los 13º World Choir Games

tuvieron lugar por primera vez en Oceanía: en Auckland, Nueva Zelanda. Los próximos

World Choir Games se celebrarán en Helsingborg, Suecia, en agosto de 2026.

Desde 2007, INTERKULTUR ha llevado la idea de los World Choir Games a diferentes

continentes: los Asia Pacific Choir Games se celebraron por cuarta vez en octubre de

2017, y en 2025 tendrán lugar los primeros African Asia Pacific Choir Games en la

isla soñada de Mauricio. En 2013 se estrenaron los European Choir Games en Graz,

Austria. Ediciones posteriores se celebraron en Magdeburgo, Alemania (2015), en la

capital letona Riga (2017) y en las ciudades suecas de Gotemburgo (2019) y Norrköping

(2023), junto con el Grand Prix of Nations, dirigido a los coros internacionales de élite.

La última edición de los European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations tuvo lugar en

La Idea

INTERKULTUR se ha convertido en el símbolo de una idea artística única: en comparación

con los tradicionales concursos corales meritocráticos que solo invitan a coros élite

internacionales, las competiciones de INTERKULTUR están abiertas a todos los coros no

profesionales. Coros de todo el mundo interesados en adquirir experiencia en festivales

y concursos internacionales pueden competir según su nivel artístico. INTERKULTUR ha

abierto una puerta a nuevos impulsos y perspectivas para el movimiento coral nacional

e internacional.

Las Competiciones

Existen diversas categorías para todo tipo y nivel de coros con diferentes grados de

dificultad, con o sin piezas obligatorias. Las competiciones ofrecen buenas condiciones

competitivas, valiosos contactos artísticos, diversos talleres y seminarios, así como

oportunidades de práctica con intérpretes internacionales. Más de 200 expertos y

directores corales de todo el mundo garantizan un alto nivel de profesionalismo en

todos los eventos INTERKULTUR.

Sistema de Evaluación

El jurado otorga Diplomas de Bronce, Plata y Oro en 10 niveles en las competiciones

INTERKULTUR según el sistema de evaluación MUSICA MUNDI® (sistema de 30

puntos); y Medallas de Bronce, Plata y Oro en los World Choir Games, Asia Pacific Choir

Games, European Choir Games y Grand Prix of Nations según el sistema de evaluación

de los World Choir Games (sistema de 100 puntos). En cada categoría se determina un

ganador o campeón y los logros sobresalientes son premiados con premios especiales.

En algunas competiciones hay una competencia Gran Premio entre los mejores coros

seleccionados por el jurado internacional, que determina el ganador general.

Concepto Pedagógico

Los eventos INTERKULTUR no solo son competiciones y festivales corales

internacionales, sino que también sirven como desarrollo profesional, ofreciendo

retroalimentación a través de diversas ofertas pedagógicas. En las Interpretaciones de

Evaluación o Entrenamientos Individuales, los coros tienen la oportunidad de trabajar

con miembros internacionales del jurado y recibir consejos sobre su nivel actual, así

como información pedagógica y artística experta y sugerencias sobre la interpretación

de las piezas elegidas. La MUSICA MUNDI® Choir Academy impulsa especialmente a

jóvenes directores de coro en China.

Cada dos años, el Consejo Mundial de Coros, compuesto actualmente por 146 miembros

que representan 96 países y regiones, se reúne durante los World Choir Games para

discutir las escenas corales de sus respectivos países. Estas reuniones contribuyen

significativamente al desarrollo de la escena coral internacional.

Lugares de Festivales y Competiciones

Hasta la fecha, los eventos INTERKULTUR se han celebrado en Austria, Bélgica,

Camboya, Croacia, República Checa, Dinamarca, Francia, Alemania, Gran Bretaña,

Grecia, Hungría, Indonesia, Israel, Italia, Japón, Letonia, Malasia, Malta, Países Bajos,

Nueva Zelanda, República Popular China, Sudáfrica, Portugal, Filipinas, República de

Corea, Rusia, Serbia, España, Sri Lanka, Suecia, Tailandia, EE.UU. y Vietnam. En 2026

INTERKULTUR organizará su primer concurso coral internacional en Finlandia. Muchas

ciudades han comprobado el éxito de los eventos INTERKULTUR y establecen festivales

corales regulares o solicitan repetidamente ser sede de grandes eventos unificadores.

Los Participantes

En total, más de 11,000 coros con más de 460,000 cantantes activos de 112 países han

participado en las competiciones INTERKULTUR hasta la fecha. Un dato interesante es

que más de la mitad de los participantes son niños y jóvenes de hasta 27 años, y el

67% de los coros participantes son grupos que regresan, ansiosos por nuevos destinos

y nuevos desafíos corales. Muchos de ellos incrementan constantemente sus logros,

desde los primeros pequeños éxitos hasta obtener una Medalla de Oro o el codiciado

título de Campeón.

More than 35 years of success: Since 1988 INTERKULTUR, founded by Günter Titsch,

is the world’s leading organizer of international choir competitions and festivals. The

event series has meanwhile become known throughout the world for its high artistic and

organizational standards. INTERKULTUR is a concept for choirs all over the world and

their excitement about its competitions and festivals is constantly growing.

Since more than 35 years singers and choirs from all over the world have been

celebrating international choral music with INTERKULTUR in different cities and on

different continents. Whether the Palau de la Música in Barcelona or the Konzerthaus

Liebfrauen Wernigerode, whether dream destinations in Europea or Asia; wherever

they go, participants will experience a peaceful, world-spanning festival of singing and

intercultural choral music on a high artistic level. Friendship Concerts and joint singing

events complete the great emotional impact of INTERKULTUR’s international choral

meetings.

INTERKULTUR unites nations. In 2004 and 2006 – following long negotiations – the

organization was able to bring choirs from North and South Korea together on stage.

Also, choirs from countries like Israel and Iran kept coming together at the choir

festivals and light a beacon of peace in Friendship Concerts.

Participation is the highest honor.

INTERKULTUR´s biggest success to date was to bring the antique Olympic idea to the

choral community. The Choir Olympics 2000 in Linz, Austria was the beginning of a

Choir Olympic movement, which goes around the world until today: Its story of success

continues with subsequent events in Busan, Republic of Korea in 2002 and Bremen,

Germany in 2004, and as of 2006 under the name “World Choir Games” in Xiamen, China;

Graz, Austria in 2008; Shaoxing, China in 2010; Cincinnati, USA in 2012; Riga, Latvia in

2014 and the Winter Olympics City of Sochi, Russia in 2016. The 10th anniversary edition

of the World Choir Games in 2018 happened on African soil for the first time: Tshwane

in South Africa attracted more than 300 choirs and more than 16,000 participants in

July 2018. Due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic the 11 th edition of the World Choir

Games hosted by the cities of Antwerp and Ghent in Belgium had to be postponed from

July 2020 to the fall 2021. For the first time in the event’s history these Games took

place as a hybrid event with live competitions in Flanders and an additional Virtual

Competitions part. The 12 th edition of the event invited choirs from around the world

to Gangneung, Republic of Korea in summer 2023, while the 13 th World Choir Games

happened in Oceania for the first time: in Auckland, New Zealand. The next World Choir

Games will take place in Helsingborg, Sweden in August 2026.

Since 2007 INTERKULTUR has been transferring the idea of the World Choir Games

also to different continents: The Asia Pacific Choir Games took place for the 4 th time

already in October 2017, and in 2025 the first African Asia Pacific Choir Games will

be held on the dream island Mauritius. In 2013 the European Choir Games premiered

in Graz, Austria. Subsequent editions of the event were held in Magdeburg, Germany

(2015), in Latvian capital Riga (2017) and in the Swedish cities of Gothenburg (2019) and

Norrköping (2023), along with the Grand Prix of Nations, which addresses international

top choirs. The last edition of the European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Nations took

place in Aarhus, Denmark in July 2025.

The Idea

INTERKULTUR has become the symbol for a unique artistic idea: In comparison to

traditional meritorious choir competitions that only invite international elite choirs

to take part, the INTERKULTUR competitions are open to all non-professional choirs.

Choirs from all over the world, interested in gaining international festival and competition

experience, can compete according to their level of artistic achievement. INTERKULTUR

has opened a door to new impulses and perspectives for the national and international

choral movement.

The Competitions

There are various categories for all types and levels of choirs in different degrees of

difficulty, with or without compulsory pieces. The competitions offer good, competitive

conditions, valuable, artistic contacts, various workshops and seminars, as well as

practice opportunities with international performers. More than 200 experts and

leading choir conductors from all over the world guarantee a high level of expertise in

all INTERKULTUR events.

Evaluation System

The jury awards Bronze, Silver, and Gold Diplomas on 10 levels at INTERKULTUR

competitions according to the MUSICA MUNDI® evaluation system (30-points-system);

and Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals at the World Choir Games, the Asia Pacific Choir

Games, the European Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations according to the World

Choir Games evaluation system (100-points-system). In each category, a Winner or

Champion is determined and outstanding achievements are honored with Special Prizes.

In some competitions there is a Grand Prize Competition of the best choirs selected by

the international jury which determines the overall winner of the competition.

The Pedagogical Concept

INTERKULTUR events are not only competitions and international choir festivals,

but also serve as professional development such as providing feedback from various

pedagogical offerings. In Evaluation Performances or Individual Coachings, choirs have

the chance to work with international jury members and gain advice on their current

level of achievement, receive proficient pedagogical and artistic information and obtain

suggestions as to how to interpret the chosen piece. The MUSICA MUNDI® Choir

Academy gives new impetus especially to young choir conductors in China.

Every two years the World Choir Council consisting of currently 146 members

representing 96 countries and regions comes together during the World Choir Games to

discuss the choral scenes in their respective home countries. These meetings make an

important contribution to the development of the international choral scene.

Locations of Festivals and Competitions

To date, INTERKULTUR events have taken place in Austria, Belgium, Cambodia, Croatia,

Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia,

Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, People’s Republic

of China, South Africa, Portugal, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Serbia, Spain,

Sri Lanka, Sweden, Thailand, USA and Vietnam. In 2026 INTERKULTUR will organize its

first-ever international choir competition in Finland. Many cities have been convinced

of the success of INTERKULTUR events and establish regular choir festivals or apply

repeatedly to host more unifying major events.

The Participants

In total, more than 11,000 choirs with more than 460,000 active singers from 112

countries have taken part in the INTERKULTUR competitions to date. An interesting note

is that more than half of the participants have been children and youth up to 27 years

of age and 67% of the participating choirs are returning ensembles looking forward

to new destinations and new choral challenges. Many of them constantly increase

their achievements – from first little successes to a Gold Medal or the sought-after

Champions title.

Situada a només 50 km de Barcelona i molt a prop del parc natural del Montnegre. Calella

és una destinació turística de qualitat amb tres magnífiques platges guardonades amb

la Bandera Blava -a més de la Q de qualitat a la platja de Garbí-, així com una important

oferta comercial i de restauració. La seva gran oferta d’allotjament amb 13.958 places

La natura és present a diferents indrets de gran riquesa, que compten amb moltes espècies

de la flora mediterrània. Destaquem el parc Dalmau i el passeig d’estil modernista de

Manuel Puigvert al bell mig de la ciutat. A prop del far hi trobem el paratge de les Torretes,

un mirador sobre el mar i des d’on es pot accedir al parc natural del Montnegre. A Calella

s’hi poden fer diverses rutes de natura i urbanes, que permeten conèixer mes bé la ciutat

i el seu entorn natural. També s’hi pot practicar el Nòrdic walking.

Calella – Esports

La ciutat de Calella, certificada com a Destinació de Turisme Esportiu (DTF) per l’Agència

Catalana de Turisme, disposa de bones instal·lacions per a la pràctica de tota mena d’

esports, com futbol, bàsquet, handbol, atletisme, natació, tennis, activitats nàutiques i,

a pocs quilòmetres de la ciutat, la possibilitat de fer senderisme pel Parc del Montnegre.

Cada any se celebren dues importants proves internacionals de triatló, el Half Challenge

al mes de maig i el Challenge a final de setembre-principi d’octubre amb la participació

de triatletes de tot el món i que enguany ha estat escollit, per segon any consecutiu,

Situated at just 50 km to the north of Barcelona and very close to the Natural park of the

Montnegre, Calella is an excellent tourist destination with three beautiful beaches, awarded

with the European Blue Flag and the Q for Quality award for the Garbi beach. It also has an

important commercial offer and many restaurants for eating out. There are 13.958 accommodation

places in hotels, campings and apartments. All of this contribute Calella as one of

the most important tourist destinations in the country.

Calella – Shopping

You can go shopping throughout the year in Calella, which has over 500 shops with a varied

selection of good, high quality articles. You can also visit the municipal indoor market or the

Saturday morning open air market.

Calella – Eating out

Our restaurants offer you the opportunity to try our traditional cuisine where you can enjoy

many recipes elaborated with the products from the region, excellent fruits and vegetables

such as strawberries, cherries and sweet green peas, seafood such as fresh fish and shellfish

and wild mushrooms from the Montnegre Forrest. There are over 70 restaurants offering

national and international cooking, many cafeterias, open air terraces and bars.

Calella – Nature

In Calella and nearby there are many natural areas with greenery and typical Mediterranean

vegetation. A visit is recommended to the Dalmau Park in the centre of the city, to the

promenade of Manuel Puigvert (of modernist design) and to the “Torretes” antique optical

telegraph towers near the lighthouse from where you can walk to the natural park of the

Montnegre. In Calella there are varies nature and urban walking routes, which will familiarise

you with the town and its immediate outskirts and also with its nature areas. One can

also practice the modality of Nordic Walking.

Calella – Sports

The city of Calella has been certified by the Catalan Tourist Board as a Sports Tourism

Destination, where you can find excellent installations for the practice of many

sports such as football, athletics, basketball, handball, swimming, tennis and water

sports. Also at just a few kilometres away you can go walking or cycling in the

Montnegre Natural Park. Every year we celebrate two important international triathlon

events, the «half challenge» during the month of May and «the Challenge» at the

end of September/beginning of October, with athletes participating from all over the

world and which in 2011 and 2012 has been awarded by the Spanish Triathlon Federation

“Marielle Ventre”. Reconocido como uno

de los especialistas más destacados en

coros infantiles y femeninos en España,

es también autor de varios métodos

pedagógicos sobre enseñanza musical y

es frecuentemente invitado a participar

en concursos, congresos y encuentros

internacionales. Ha sido miembro del

jurado en competiciones internacionales

en Calella, Tours, Linz, Sochi, Cantonigròs,

Torrevieja y en los World Choir Games en

Tshwane (Sudáfrica) y Gangneung (Corea

del Sur). Ha logrado reconocimiento con el

coro infantil catalán COR VIVALDI, que ha

ganado premios internacionales, grabado

más de 15 discos, ofrecido 1000 conciertos

y realizado varias giras por Europa,

Sudamérica y Estados Unidos.

Licenctiate from the Royal Schools of Music,

Boada began his career as an accompanist

and chamber music player. He has been

awarded the “Ciutat de Barcelona” Special

Mention Prize, the Reus Prize for children’s

voices composing, and was awarded

third prize in the Concorso Internazionale

“Marielle Ventre”. Recognized as one of the

most outstanding specialists in children

and female choirs in Spain, he is also the

author of several pedagogical methods on

music instruction, and is often invited to

participate in contests, conferences, and

international meetings. He was member

of the jury at international competitions in

Calella, Tours, Linz, Sochi, Cantonigròs,

Torrevieja and the World Choir Games in

Tshwane, South Africa and Gangneung,

Republic of Korea. He has achieved

recognition with the Catalan children‘s

y del Cor de Cambra de l’Orfeo de Sants,

y ha dirigido varios coros y orquestas.

Frecuentemente actúa como jurado en

diversos concursos internacionales y

organiza seminarios y talleres tanto en

España como en toda Europa. Xavier Garcia

fue uno de los fundadores y codirectores

del Revoice International Vocal Ensemble,

un coro compuesto por más de 25

nacionalidades que ha actuado en varios

países y festivales, como la Expo Mundial

de Milán y el Foro Mundial de Música en

París. Participó en la organización del

World Choral Symposium Barcelona 2017 y

ha sido miembro del comité artístico de la

Asociación de Coros Juveniles de Cataluña.

A graduate in orchestral conducting from

the Conservatori del Liceu, Xavier García

Cardona is a conductor, pianist, and

composer and teaches at the Academia

Barcelona Concertante. He is the main

conductor of the Cor Tessàlia, Orfeó de

Sants, the Cor de Cambra de l‘Orfeó de

Sants, and has conducted several choirs

and orchestras. He frequently adjudicates

at various international contests and holds

seminars and workshops both in Spain

and throughout Europe. Xavier García was

one of the founders and co-conductors of

the Revoice International Vocal Ensemble,

a choir of more than 25 nationalities that

has performed in several countries and

festivals such as the World Expo Milano and

the World Forum on Music in Paris. He was

involved in the organization of the World

Choral Symposium Barcelona 2017 and has

been a member of the artistic committee of

the Catalan Youth Choirs Association. He

is currently the delegate for International

Relations of the Spanish Association of

choral conductors (AEDCORO).

Laura Jēkabsone is a Latvian composer,

arranger, professional singer, music

teacher, conductor, and artistic director

of the vocal group Latvian Voices. She

received her Bachelor‘s in Music Education

from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of

Music and gained international experience

in many vocal workshops and composition

competitions. Her compositions have been

performed domestically and internationally

by ensembles such as Latvian Voices, the

Latvian National Symphonic Orchestra,

State Choir LATVIJA, the Oxford Choir

(UK), Stellenbosch University Choir (South

Africa), Mägi Ensemble (USA), Incantare

Coro Femenino (Argentina), Raffles Chorale

(Singapore), Landarbaso Abesbatza (Spain),

and a cappella groups the Real Group

(Sweden), Sjaella, Amarcord (Germany).

From 2006 to 2022, she worked as an

assistant conductor in one of the best

Latvian amateur choirs – “Maska”, with

which she released her first author CD

titled “Ziema” (Winter).

Comenzando su educación musical en su

ciudad natal, Larissa, Dimitris Ktistakis es

actualmente profesor asociado de Dirección

Ktistakis es frecuentemente invitado a

formar parte del jurado en concursos

corales internacionales, contribuyendo

a la promoción y reconocimiento de la

excelencia coral en todo el mundo.

Beginning his musical educational in his

hometown of Larissa, Dimitris Ktistakis

currently serves as Associate Professor of

Choral Conducting at the Ionian University

in Corfu, where he earned his Doctorate

in Choral Conducting (DMA) in 2020 with

unanimous honors. Throughout his training,

he studied under internationally acclaimed

artists such as Vladimir Margulis, György

Donka Miteva estudió dirección orquestal

Ha trabajado con diversos conjuntos en

entre otros. Entre sus galardones destacan

el Primer Premio en el 7º Concurso

Internacional para Jóvenes Directores en

San Petersburgo y el Tercer Premio en el

5º Concurso Internacional de Dirección

Jeunesses Musicales en Bucarest. De 2007

a 2011 fue directora y directora de coro en

la Ópera Estatal de Münster, Alemania.

Desde octubre de 2011, Donka Miteva es la

directora artística y directora de Collegium

Musicum Berlín, donde dirige dos orquestas

sinfónicas, un coro oratorio y un coro de

cámara. Donka Miteva es miembro del

Consejo Mundial de Coros INTERKULTUR.

Donka Miteva studied orchestral

conducting at the Robert Schumann

Hochschule and choral conducting at the

State Academy of Music in Sofia. She has

been awarded various scholarships from

the Richard Wagner Society, the Accademia

Musicale Chigiana, the European Academy

Montepulciano, and the Noel Minet

Foundation. She has worked with several

ensembles in Germany, Denmark, Estonia,

the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal,

China, South Africa and many others.

Among her accolades are 1 st Prize at the

7 th Int. Competition for Young Conductors

in St. Petersburg and 3 rd Prize at the 5 th

Int. Conducting Competition Jeunesse

Musicales in Bucharest. From 2007 to 2011

she was a conductor and choir director

at the State Opera in Münster, Germany.

Since October 2011 Donka Miteva is the

appointed Artistic Director and Conductor

of Collegium Musicum Berlin where she

conducts two Symphony Orchestras, an

Oratorio Choir, and a chamber choir.

Donka Miteva is a member of the

INTERKULTUR World Choir Council.

Jun Wang is a distinguished Chinese

SANTA MARIA DEL PI

Santa María del Pino ("Santa Maria del Pí", en catalán) es una iglesia del siglo XIV,

construida en estilo gótico. Esta basílica se encuentra ubicada en Barcelona, más concretamente

en la Plaza del Pino, dentro del Barrio Gótico de la ciudad. Existe una tradición

no documentada, sobre la existencia en este lugar de una pequeña iglesia paleocristiana

en el año 413. Lo que sí se sabe con certeza es que el año 987 existió, fuera de

las murallas de la ciudad (en dirección oeste), una pequeña iglesia románica dedicada

a Santa María del Pino, uno de los títulos atribuidos a la Virgen María. El templo fue

construido entre los años 1319 y 1391. De estilo gótico puro, consta de una sola nave

casi desprovista de ornamentos. La iglesia cuenta con seis campanas, siendo la más

grande de ellas conocida como "Antònia". En 1936, la basílica sufrió un incendio siendo

posteriormente restaurada.

Santa Maria del Pi, meaning "St. Mary of the Pine Tree", is a 14 th -century Gothic church in

Barcelona and is situated on the Plaça del Pi, in the Barri Gótic district of the city. There

are unsubstantiated claims that there was an early Christian church located in 413. For

a certainty it is known that in 987 there existed a church outside the city walls and to the

west of Barcelona. This was a small Romanesque church dedicated to the Blessed Lady

of the Pine Tree (one of the titles of the Virgin Mary). The church was built between 1319

and 1391. The style of the church was Catlan Gothic, with a single nave almost devoid of

ESGLÉSIA DE SANTA MARIA I SANT NICOLAU

La iglesia parroquial “Santa Maria i Sant Nicolau” se encuentra ubicada en la ciudad de

Calella. Ésta fue construida en el año 1747, después de que el campanario del edificio original

se desmoronase, destruyendo con él la antigua construcción de 1564. Esta iglesia,

de estilo neoclásico, fue diseñada por Josep Morató. Tras la destrucción total y la quema

de su interior en 1936, la parroquia fue reconstruida en 1939 y finalmente reabrió sus puertas

el 23 de septiembre de 1951. Esta construcción eclesiástica forma parte del inventario

del Patrimonio Arquitectónico de Cataluña. El templo está iluminado por un enorme

rosetón en su fachada principal y por dos ventanales posteriores, a cada lado de la nave.

Església de Santa Maria i Sant Nicolau is a church in the town of Calella that was built in

1747 after the tower of the original building from 1564 collapsed and destroyed the building.

It is built in a neoclassical style and was designed by Josep Morato. After the total

La Sala Mozart es un cine, teatro y centro musical ubicado en el centro de Calella. Es

una de las salas de cine más antiguas de España, ya que abrió sus puertas en 1904.

Durante el último año, ha sido reconstruida tras llevar más de cien años en funcionamiento.

La Sala Mozart albergará concursos en varias categorías durante el evento.

Sala Mozart is a cinema as well as theater and musical center in the inner city of Calella.

It is one of the oldest cinemas in Spain and was opened already in 1904. During the previous

year, the hall was rebuilt after more than 100 years of running.

The Sala Mozart will host competitions in several categories during the event.
