National Spa Week
Time to treat yourself!
There’s never been a better excuse to
unwind than National Spa Week,
taking place this year from
October 30th to November 5th.
Whether you’re after a soothing massage, a
revitalising facial, or simply a moment of peace
in a steam room, visiting a spa is more than just
pampering - it’s an
essential part of selfcare.
In our fast-paced world,
stress can take its
toll on both body and
mind. A spa day offers
the perfect chance
to pause, reset, and
recharge. Treatments
like massages can
ease muscular tension,
improve circulation and
help with sleep, while
time in thermal rooms or
hydrotherapy pools can do wonders for aching joints
and overall wellbeing.
But it’s not all about physical benefits. The mental
uplift of switching off, putting your phone down,
and allowing yourself to be looked after is priceless.
Whether you go solo or book in with friends, a spa
visit creates space for mindfulness and reconnection
- something we all need from time to time.
So why not celebrate National Spa Week by booking
a well-earned escape? Your mind, body, and soul
will thank you - and you’ll leave feeling like the best
version of yourself.

HEALTH IS
WEALTH:
Why Investing in
Yourself Matters
In today’s busy world, it’s easy to
put your health on the back burner
— especially when work, family,
and everyday demands pile up. But
the old saying still rings true: health
really is wealth. When we feel well,
everything else in life feels more
manageable — from relationships
to careers and our ability to simply
enjoy the day.
Looking after your health isn’t just
about treating problems when they
arise — it’s about making choices
that help you stay strong, energetic
and well-balanced. And the good
news is, you don’t need to overhaul
your life overnight. Small, consistent
investments in your wellbeing can
make all the difference.
1. Build Better Daily Habits
Good health starts with the basics
— and often, the simplest routines
are the most powerful.
• Stay active: Whether it’s walking
the dog, cycling to work, or joining
a gym, regular movement improves
both physical and mental health.
• Eat well: A balanced diet rich in
fruit, veg, whole grains and lean
protein supports your immune
system and energy levels.
• Get enough rest: Aim for 7–9
hours of quality sleep each night
to support mood, memory and
recovery.
• Reduce stress: Mindfulness,
journalling, or just taking regular
time away from screens can help
reset your mind and body.
2. Don’t Ignore Your Senses:
Prioritise Hearing Care - One often
overlooked area of health is hearing.
Many people delay getting their
hearing checked, but untreated
hearing loss can impact everything
from communication and confidence
to memory and mental wellbeing.
In the UK, free NHS hearing tests
are available for many people — but
private hearing care often offers
faster appointments, advanced
technology, and personalised
support. Regular hearing checks,
especially if you’re over 50, can
help catch issues early and improve
your quality of life.
3. Consider Private Healthcare
for Added Peace of Mind
While the NHS remains one of
Britain’s greatest assets, more
people are turning to private
healthcare for faster access to
appointments and treatment.
Private health plans can offer:
• Shorter wait times
• Access to private hospitals and
specialists
• More flexibility in choosing your
treatment location and consultant
You don’t need to be wealthy to
explore private options. Many
providers offer affordable monthly
plans, or one-off payments for
specific services like scans,
physiotherapy or minor surgery.
4. Look After Your Mental
Health Too
Physical and mental health go
hand-in-hand. Whether it’s through
professional counselling, support
groups, or self-care tools like
meditation apps, nurturing your
emotional wellbeing is vital.
In recent years, Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and
talking therapies have become more
widely available — both through
the NHS and private providers.
If you’re feeling anxious, low, or
overwhelmed, reaching out is a sign
of strength, not weakness.
5. Be Proactive With Health
Screenings
Prevention is always better than
cure. Booking regular health checks
or screenings — such as blood
pressure tests, cholesterol checks,
cervical smears, prostate exams, or
eye and hearing tests — gives you a
clearer picture of your overall health
and can help detect early signs. You
can access many of these services
through your GP, or explore private
health assessments for a more
comprehensive overview.
We insure our homes, cars and
even our pets — yet when it comes
to our health, we sometimes
hesitate to invest in ourselves. But
without your health, everything else
becomes harder.
Whether it’s finally booking that
hearing test, building better habits,
or exploring private health support,
every positive step counts. After all,
when you feel your best, you can
give your best — to your family,
your work, and your life. Because
truly, health is the foundation of
everything else.

CAN HYPNOTHERAPY
REALLY HELP ME?
ADVERTISING FEATURE
Annette MacCaul, Clinical
Hypnotherapist and Hypnotherapy
Instructor, answers the questions
clients most often ask her...
Is hypnotherapy like being
asleep or unconscious?
Not at all. You’re fully aware during
hypnosis, just deeply relaxed and
focused. Many people say it feels
like that lovely in-between state
just before you drift off to sleep,
but you’re always in control. It’s
a natural, calm state where your
mind is more open to letting go of
unhelpful thoughts and patterns.
Can it help with anxiety or
stress?
Yes, very much so. In fact anxiety
and stress are some of the most
common issues I help with.
Hypnotherapy works by calming
the nervous system and helping
you break out of the cycle of
overthinking or catastrophising.
You learn to respond differently to
anxiety or stress, both mentally
and physically.
Will I lose control or say things I
don’t want to?
This is a really common worry,
and the answer is absolutely
no. Hypnotherapy isn’t about
mind control, it’s a collaborative
process. You won’t do or say
anything you don’t want to. It’s
about creating a space where you
feel able to relax and gently shift
the things that are keeping you
stuck. Allowing the conscious
mind to quieten and allow new
ideas into the mind on a deeper
level.”
What can hypnotherapy help
with besides anxiety?
Lots of things. People come to me
for confidence issues, phobias,
fear of public speaking, sleep
problems, even feeling stuck or
low in motivation. Often, it’s about
removing inner blocks and selflimiting
beliefs so you can move
forward in a way that feels more
like you again.
Can hypnotherapy really help
someone like me?
It’s completely natural to wonder
that, especially if you’ve been
feeling stuck for a while. Maybe
part of you hopes it could work,
but another part is quietly thinking,
What if I’m the exception? What
if I’m too anxious, too resistant,
or too much in my own head?
Your mind can get stuck in
patterns that it uses to protect
you. Hypnotherapy helps you
gently change those patterns, so
you can feel calm, clear, and more
like you again. It is a powerful,
gentle way of working with the part
of your mind that’s been keeping
you stuck. You don’t have to force
change, or try harder. Instead, we
create
space for your mind to do what
it’s naturally good at: adapting,
learning, and healing.
So yes, it can help someone like
you. You don’t need to have it all
figured out, just a willingness to
take the first step.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on the issue and
the individual, but it’s often fewer
than people expect. I aim to
make every session useful in its
own right and many clients begin
noticing changes after just two or
three sessions.
Is online hypnotherapy
effective?
Yes, surprisingly so. I see many
clients online and the results are
just as strong as in-person work.
As long as you’re somewhere quiet
and comfortable, the process
works beautifully.
Annette MacCaul is a Clinical
Hypnotherapist based in
Winchester and online. She
helps clients overcome stress,
anxiety, and self-limiting beliefs
using a calm, practical and
compassionate approach.

PASTORAL CARE IN SCHOOLS:
What Parents Need to Know in 2025
Pastoral care – the all-round support
a school provides for pupils’
wellbeing, safety and personal
development – has never been
more important. With mental health
and safeguarding now high on
the national agenda, parents are
increasingly asking: how will this
school look after my child?
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
The government’s updated Keeping
Children Safe in Education guidance
(September 2025) has reinforced
expectations for schools across
both state and independent sectors.
There is also a new Relationships,
Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
framework to be implemented by
September 2026, emphasising not
just relationships and health but also
emotional resilience, digital safety and
personal wellbeing. Inspections – by
Ofsted or the ISI – now give weight
to pupils’ personal development
alongside academic results.
At the same time, mental health
concerns among young people
continue to rise. Schools are under
pressure to offer earlier intervention,
clearer routes to support, and
stronger partnerships with external
agencies when pupils show signs of
difficulty.
WHAT DOES THIS
MEAN FOR PARENTS?
For families choosing between
schools, the pastoral offer should be
as important as academic success.
Ask not just about exam results but
also:
• How is wellbeing woven into
daily school life?
• Is there access to counselling,
wellbeing hubs or quiet
spaces?
• Do staff receive training in
mental health first aid?
• How are pupils taught to
support one another through
peer mentoring or buddy
systems?
• What happens when behaviour
or attendance issues are
linked to wellbeing – is the
response supportive as well as
disciplinary?

DISTINCT ADVANTAGE
Independent schools often have
greater flexibility and resources
to deliver tailored pastoral care.
Smaller class sizes mean staff can
know pupils as individuals, while
dedicated pastoral teams (often
including school counsellors, nurses
or chaplains) provide structured,
accessible support. Many schools
now run “wellbeing hubs” or
integrate mindfulness, resilience
training and outdoor learning into
the curriculum.
For boarding schools in particular,
pastoral care is central: house
parents, tutors and matrons form
a safety net that extends beyond
the classroom. Parents should look
closely at how boarding houses
are staffed, how communication
with home is managed, and
how children are encouraged to
develop independence while feeling
supported.
WHAT ABOUT THE
STATE SECTOR?
State schools are making progress,
and government guidance is clear
about expectations. But provision
can be patchy. While some schools
have invested in counsellors and
wellbeing programmes, others rely
on overstretched staff. Parents
considering state education
should ask similar questions about
wellbeing resources, safeguarding
processes and how pupils are
prepared for life beyond the
classroom.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Pastoral care is no longer a “niceto-have”:
it is central to a child’s
experience of school.
The best schools recognise that
happy, confident pupils achieve
more academically and socially.
For parents weighing options when
choosing a new school for their
child, the key is to look beyond the
prospectus and ask: how will this
school ensure my child feels safe,
supported and ready to thrive, and
does its values align with ours.

STEWART
COPELAND
HAVE I SAID TOO MUCH?
A-List rock star Stewart Copeland enjoyed
remarkable success with The Police, and is one
of the greatest drummers of all-time, a multi-
Grammy winner, and a Rock and Roll Hall of
Famer. Ade Hill found out more!
Having played drums for Curved Air from
1975 to 1976, he went on to drive The Police
to world domination between 1977 and 1986
before composing Hollywood soundtracks,
writing books, forming a supergroup, making
films, and composing for ballet, opera, and
classical music. In this fascinating “Evening
With”, Stewart will talk about his incredible
life as a performer, musician, entertainer,
and writer.
Hi Stewart. You’re coming to Central Hall,
on 22 October with HAVE I SAID TOO
MUCH? THE POLICE, HOLLYWOOD
AND OTHER ADVENTURES - It sounds
brilliant!
Well Ade, it’s going to be a lot of tall tales
and adventures lived, a hard road, happy
trails, all of it from The Police of course to
Opera and writing movie soundtracks to
racing giraffes in the Serengeti.
Your father was a member of the Glen
Miller band.
Yes - He hated it. It slipped out and he
regretted it. For him it was like being a
member of the Gary Glitter band. He was an
old school jazz trumpeter and played with
Harry James and various others back in
the day but all he got was Glen Miller, Glen
Miller.
Did you grow up in a musical family?
No, just my father. My sister taught me
how to play piano, not that she could play
herself. My two brothers tried but they just
didn’t have musical ears. Funny but I was
thinking about this just the other day as
I’m currently writing a book about dealing
with rock star management and going
through some of the great managers from
Peter Grant, Colonel Thomas Parker who
managed Elvis of course and then I came
down to my two brothers Miles and Ian and
I realised that these two guys are the most
important managers in the history of Rock
and Roll. You know Peter Grant bought you
Led Zeppelin, Brian Epstein brought you the
Beatles, but Miles and Ian brought you The
Police, The Go Go’s, REM, The Bangles and
the list goes on. In fact, between the two
of them they are responsible for an entire
British invasion of the 80’s. The new wave
could really be described as the Miles and
Ian Wave. Us Copelands are not shy about
blowing our own trumpets. The Copelands
kicked arse.
You’ve lived all over the world, but moved
to London in the early 70’s to become a
journalist then a roadie right?
Yeah. A journalist I was in college for a
magazine there, but in England I was
a roadie for Wishbone Ash, one of my
proudest achievements and that’s where I
got to learn how bands work.
Being in London at that time, with the
Punk scene emerging – did that have an
influence on you at the time?
I was in a prog rock band at the time called
Curved Air and the Sex Pistols hit the news.
A few days after that they showed up as
gate crashers at a party. Me and my Bother
Ian were holding a party for Al Stewart of all
people, and everyone was there grooving
to Chic and The Average White Band and in
come these wild looking kids who demand
that they play their own music and Ian is like
OK let’s hear them. Well immediately the
place has stopped and all these velvet clad,
bell bottom loom pants kids are stood to
the side disapproving, and these guys are
going hog wild, and the place is rocking. It
really was an epiphany moment. The music
business is always looking for the next big
thing and me and my brothers could see it
right there.
Is that how the Police were originally
formed?
It made me think that I need to get me one
of these do-it-yourself bands. You didn’t
need no record company just a couple of
buddies. I first met Sting back in 1976 whilst
I was touring with Curved Air in Newcastle.
Sting moved to London in 77 and sought me
out for a jamming session that led to forming
the band. We had a guitarist called Henry
Padovani for a while, then we met Andy
Summers who replaced him.
Our first ever single ‘Fall Out’ was released.
We recorded it on 12 February 1977 for
£150 I’d borrowed from a friend to record it.
Mick Jagger reviewed the single in Sounds
Magazine! It Never charted but was a
smash hit for us. We made over £200, (since
I was the record company). The rest as they
say is history!
You moved into creating movie
soundtracks and have been responsible
for classics like Highlander, Wall St and
Star Wars animated series called Droids.
How did that come about?
After the Police disbanded, I started
composing soundtracks for films (Airborne,
Talk Radio, Wall Street, Riff Raff, Raining
Stones, Surviving the Game, See No Evil,
Hear No Evil, Highlander II: The Quickening
and many more over the years.
I remember heading up to Skywalker Range
to meet George Lucas and he explained
what he wanted for this animated series. He
didn’t really say much. He just let me get on
with it. One of my biggest successes was for
a PlayStation game called Spyro the Dragon
and its still going 20 years later.
You’ve lived some amazing adventures
Stewart, but what’s next?
I’m heading on down to Latin America and
Australia with this show. After that I’m doing
The Police Deranged for Orchestra. The
Police’s biggest hits including ”Roxanne,”
“Don’t Stand Too Close To Me” and
“Message in a Bottle” arranged for full
symphony orchestra .

in a warm place for the dough to
double in size, which will take about
an hour.
Rub some oil around the inside of
an oven tray. Knead the dough for
another 100 presses. Add the pine
nuts and olives, kneading until they
are combined with the dough.
Shape the dough into a 23cm/9”
oval and put it on the oven tray,
pushing any exposed olives back

1 tsp Doves Farm Baking Powder
50g ground almonds
50g butter
50g caster sugar
1 egg
250g plums, halved and de-stoned
1 tbsp demerara sugar

Buckwheat Almond Pastry
Measure the flour, icing sugar and
xanthan gum into a bowl, stir to
combine and sieve into a mixing
bowl. Stir in the ground almonds.
Chop the butter into small cubes.
Add the butter cubes to the
flour and using a fork or pastry
blender work it in until it resembles
breadcrumbs.
Add the egg yolks and stir to make
a soft, slightly sticky, ball of dough.
If the dough is not slightly sticky,
mix in a tablespoon of water. Cover
the dough ball and leave it to rest
for 30 minutes.
Pre-heat the oven to 190°C, Fan
170°C, 375°F, Gas 5
Rub a little butter around the inside
of 20cm/8” round, loose bottom
cake tin or insert a baking liner.
Dust the work surface with flour,
put the dough in the middle and
sprinkle it with more flour.
Roll the pastry out into a circle,
5cm/2” larger than your dish, and
lift it into the dish OR simply press
the dough into the dish using your
fingers.
Cut away any pastry that hangs
over the edge of your dish. Lay
a large piece of parchment over
the raw pastry, making sure all the
edges are covered.
Scatter ceramic baking beans (or
rice or flour) over the parchment,
spreading them all over the surface.
Bake for 10 minutes then remove
from the oven, carefully lift the
parchment and contents off the
pastry and return it to the oven
and cook for a further 4-5 minutes
without browning too much.
Plum and Almond Frangipane
Filling
Measure the flour and baking
powder into a bowl, stir to combine
and sieve into another bowl.
Stir in the ground almonds. Chop
the butter into small cubes.
Put the butter cubes and sugar into
a mixing bowl and beat until light
and fluffy.
Break the egg into the bowl and
beat until incorporated.
Stir in the prepared flour blend to
make a thick paste. Avoid adding
any liquid as the plums will yield
their own juice. Add the stoned
plums, turning them over in the
mixture.
Tip the mixture into the cooked
pastry case, spreading out the
plums. Sprinkle the demerara sugar
over the top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes. Leave to
cool in the tin before serving.

GIVE YOUR
H O M E A
WINTER MOT
Essential
checks to
stay cosy
and safe
As the colder months roll in, it’s
time to give your home its annual
winter ‘MOT’.
A few simple checks and repairs
now can prevent bigger issues
when the weather turns. Here’s a
friendly, practical guide to help keep
your home warm, dry and running
smoothly.
ROOF & GUTTERS –
FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE
Check your roof for missing or
broken tiles, and have any issues
repaired before winter storms hit.
While you’re at it, clear leaves and
debris from gutters and downpipes
so water can drain properly —
blocked gutters can lead to damp
and structural damage.
WINDOWS & DRAUGHT-
PROOFING
Old or damaged windows lose heat
fast. Consider upgrading to double
glazing or sealing any gaps with
draught-proofing tape. Use thermal
curtains or blinds to keep warm air
in. Don’t forget doors — fit brushes
or seals along the bottom to stop
cold air sneaking in.
BOILER & HEATING
SYSTEM
Book a boiler service to ensure
it’s working efficiently and safely.
Bleed radiators to remove trapped
air, and check your thermostat
is accurate. If you have a spare
room or conservatory, think about
fitting an electric panel heater or
using a thermal throw to keep it
usable in winter.
PIPES & INSULATION
Frozen pipes are a common winter
woe. Insulate exposed pipes in
lofts, garages and outside taps
with foam lagging. If you’re going
away, leave the heating on low to
prevent freezing. Loft insulation
should also be checked - it can
reduce heat loss significantly.
CHECK SMOKE &
CARBON MONOXIDE
ALARMS
With heating on full and fires lit,
winter is prime time for carbon
monoxide risks. Test your smoke
and CO alarms and replace
batteries if needed. If you don’t
have a CO alarm near your boiler
or wood burner, now’s the time to
get one.
CHIMNEYS, PATHS &
LIGHTING
If you use a fireplace or stove,
have the chimney swept to
prevent dangerous blockages.
Outside, clear paths of moss and
leaves to stop them becoming
slippery, and check outdoor
lighting so you’re not fumbling
around in the dark on frosty
mornings.
PEACE OF MIND FOR THE
MONTHS AHEAD
A winter home MOT doesn’t need
to be daunting — it’s about ticking
off a few smart jobs now to avoid
headaches later. With your roof
secure, boiler running, and draughts
kept at bay, you can sit back and
enjoy the season in comfort.
Stay warm, stay safe - and bring on
the hot chocolate!

Perfect!
At this time of the year the garden seems
to be resting and I like to leave some areas
as they are, to give overwintering creatures
somewhere to rest too.
Tidy is good, but a little bit of
wild and natural is even better.
A pile of wood, branches and
prunings in a sheltered corner
is great and a wire cage where
leaves can rot down for future
mulch - are excellent wildlife
refuges, too.
A few years ago I stacked
some wooden fruit boxes
intending to use them
at a later date - when I
remembered them I moved
the first one only to find
several peacock butterflies
hunkered down and
hibernating, so I carefully
put it back and left the pile
undisturbed.
Christmas is on the horizon and gardeners are really easy
to buy for. Bird feeders, bird boxes, even a home made bug
hotel are all great gifts. Magazine subscriptions and garden
club memberships are gifts that last through the year and
for older people who maybe can no longer do some of the
heavier work, buying them some hours from a professional
gardener is a real boon.
Winter days may be grey, but planning for next year, giving
those you love a thoughtful gift and working outside when
you can, are three of the great joys of the winter - enjoy.

THE GRASS
COULD BE
GREENER
Autumn is one of the most important times of year for
looking after your lawn. After the stresses of summer -
heat, dry spells, and heavy use - the cooler, wetter
months provide the perfect opportunity to give the grass
a helping hand so it can recover and strengthen before
winter sets in. A little care now will ensure a healthier,
greener lawn come spring.
The first step is to keep mowing, but lower the
frequency. Grass still grows in autumn, though more
slowly, so aim to mow every couple of weeks, keeping
blades slightly higher to protect against frost. Regular
mowing prevents long, damp grass from harbouring
pests and disease.
Next, tackle fallen leaves. Leaving them to build up will
smother the lawn and block out light, creating patches
of dead grass and moss. A quick rake or pass with a leaf
blower once or twice a week makes a big difference.
Aeration is another essential autumn task. Spiking or
hollow-tining the soil helps relieve compaction from
summer foot traffic, improves drainage, and allows
air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots. Following
GARDEN SHED, COFFEE,
SEED CATALOGUEthis
with an autumn feed - lower in nitrogen but rich
in potassium and phosphorus - encourages strong root
growth and disease resistance through the colder
months. Overseeding bare or thin patches at this time
also gives seeds the chance to germinate in warm soil,
establishing before winter slows growth.
While many homeowners enjoy the satisfaction of DIY
lawn care, using a professional service can take the
guesswork out of treatments. Specialists provide
tailored feeds, weed and moss control, and seasonal
aeration programmes to keep lawns looking their best
year-round. Whether you do it yourself or call in the
experts, autumn care sets the foundation for a lush,
resilient lawn next spring.

PLANNING
FOR A SAFE
AND SECURE
RETIREMENT
The headlines are often filled with
stories about the challenges facing
older people – from overstretched
care services to rising housing costs
and the growing issue of loneliness.
While these concerns are real, they
don’t have to define your later years.
With careful planning, it is possible
to create a retirement that feels safe,
secure, and fulfilling.
As we live longer, more of us will
experience periods where we
need extra help – whether that’s
occasional support at home or
full-time care. Housing costs,
changes in the care system, and
the breakdown of traditional family
structures have made it essential
to think ahead, rather than leaving
these matters to chance.
THE ROLE OF
INTEGRATED CARE
One of the most positive
developments in recent years is
the move towards integrated care.
This approach brings together
health services, social care, and
community support into a single,
joined-up system. It means that your
GP, local council, and care providers
work together to ensure that your
medical, emotional, and practical
needs are met.
Integrated care can help prevent the
gaps and delays that sometimes
occur when services operate in
isolation. It also gives peace of mind
to family members, who know that
their loved one’s care is coordinated
and consistent.
THE IMPORTANCE OF
COMMUNITY
Retirement is not just about financial
security – it’s also about emotional
wellbeing. Loneliness has been
called a “silent epidemic” in the UK,
with millions of older people going
days without meaningful social
contact.
Strong communities play a vital role
in preventing isolation. Whether you
choose to remain in your current
home or move to a retirement
development, it’s worth prioritising
places with active community
groups, volunteering opportunities,
and easy access to social spaces.
Many retirement villages and
housing schemes now include
cafés, shared gardens, activity
rooms, and regular events – creating
daily opportunities to meet others
and build friendships.
HOUSING CHOICES
THAT WORK FOR THE
LONG TERM
Housing is at the heart of a safe and
secure retirement. Some people plan
to “age in place” by adapting their
existing home with stairlifts, walk-in
showers, or improved heating. Others
opt for purpose-built retirement
housing, which offers accessibility,
security, and on-site support.
When choosing a property, think
beyond your immediate needs.
Consider how you might manage if
mobility becomes limited or if you
require daily care. Location also
matters – being close to shops,
transport links, and healthcare
services can make all the difference.
FINANCIAL AND
PRACTICAL PLANNING
A safe retirement is underpinned
by good financial planning. This
may involve reviewing pensions,
considering equity release, or
downsizing to free up funds. It’s
also important to make legal
preparations, such as setting up
a lasting power of attorney and
keeping your will up to date.
Starting these conversations early
allows you to make informed
choices, rather than rushing
decisions in a crisis.
BUILDING THE
RETIREMENT YOU
WANT
Ultimately, a secure retirement is
about creating an environment
where you can live well – with the
right mix of safety, support, and
independence. By planning ahead
for integrated care, community
connection, and suitable housing,
you can face the future with
confidence, rather than uncertainty.
Growing older is inevitable – but
with the right steps today, you
can ensure your later years are as
rewarding and secure as possible.
